☀️ How do you all prefer to communicate?

we're blessed with a pretty vivid inner world experience so generally we just talk in our head the same way you'd use your imagination to imagine talking to someone, but with less control over the scene/what other alters do. occasionally when communication is difficult or even just for fun we do use proxying on discord to text each other which can be easier in a pinch (though it takes more energy)

i will say me and ayano have held convos out loud before but that's more for fun so other people can hear us speak to each other/the desire to be perceived HSDJKFSDSF we don't do that naturally unless we want someone else to hear us. i'm not talking out loud to ayano alone in my room etc

hmmmmm! idk about any inside jokes since our irl friends tend to be in on them, too. at least in the main system (me, val, fennel, sometimes basil), we’re pretty jokey and lovingly make fun of each other and stuff

👻 - Do your headmates have different voices or speech patterns?

YES!!!!! This might be my favorite question.

Okay so we're USAmerican, so Parker has like a very "standard" American accent for the most part.

Lio has a Brooklyn New York Italian accent, Xander sounds much more Western New York (Buffalo area if you're familiar) because he formed while we were at school there and it stuck for him I guess?

We have folders in SP for different accents/vocal patterns.

Sprocket sounds almost Australian. Alro, being a dnd introject, has a "pirate" accent that's essentially a shitty mix between some kind of Scottish and Irish.

We have a folder for headmates who don't speak and/or speak very monotone.

And a very large folder of headmates with various "Brit-ish" accents. There are a lot of them (our dad watched the BBC a lot around us since our childhood, so we picked it up pretty fast).

There are also many pitch/tone variations between headmates. Most of our male/masc headmates have slightly lower voices, while the few gems we have typically speak a little higher in our range.

Would be happy to show Y'all some of those folders or talk more about how we sound different!

4. How do you experience communication from parts?

So we don't always communicate, but when we do it tends to be inner dialogue honestly. It's a little hard to tell sometimes who's talking, but the more elaborated parts tend to have distinct voices in my head. Sometimes its brief images of innerworld goings-on. (like Mr. H often sweeps me into a dance when he needs me or Dosy to listen to him)

We also use Antar and the journal for group meetings, because its so easy for them to get their reply heard. Antar is really good for something quick and noisy, but I like doing it in the journal to kinda keep a record of things said

9. When did you find out/realize you had a dissociative disorder?

Uhhhh huh.

I found out about the DID at many points in my life, but that was more parts-centric and I didn't have the words for it

I had a pretty strong and serious depersonalization episode for the year or two that I was going to a WELs church for the first time since... maybe the whole excommunication thing. I also started taking free collage courses to become a pastor myself. The depersonalization took form as thinking I was an angel(not in a pure sense, but in an otherworldly thing without personhood and a single mind made to serve)

Hmmm somehow I totally forgot about that

Since religious trauma is all stored in the Mr. H, it kicked up a lot of shit for him and he was actively triggered every Saturday night. The self harm was getting to be a lot for me and R to deal with, so we started looking for answers outside of 'its a demon that needs to be purged'

Finding DID youtube was the nail in the coffin; finding out my experience wasn't as unique as I thought really solidified everything. Then Dosy woke up from her several year hiatus, Cinna came to sit on my lap, and Nette and Taiga found their names all in the same week

27. What does your support system look like?

I have my beloved friends here and R \o/ in a pinch I have my siblings too ofc, but it's more like mutual support through shared trauma

uhhhhhhhhhhh I have other friends too who know about my trauma, but they're more likely to ask R how I'm doing, really expecting and hoping to say I'm doing better. They know I wouldn't bother telling them honestly anyway

👥 - How many people are in your system?

🩶👻: Too many. We’ve got about 400 or so now?? We stopped counting after 350… though some of them might be NPCs. We don’t really care either way, in all honesty. Still a bunch of people in our head.

👴 - Who is the oldest?

🍓: Technically my son is the “oldest.” He’s the god of death, and is as old as time itself. Now, if you’re talking about alter who has been around the longest, that would be a three way tie between Vent, Ghost, and Toast. Some might have been around longer than that, but we don’t know for sure right now.

💕 - Do you prefer in-system dating or out-of-system dating?

🍓: I personally prefer in-system dating, mostly because it just feels like we can actually be ourselves. And it helps with jealousy a lot, since I feel I know my headmates better than I know everyone else.

🩶👻: Gotta agree with Blue on that one. No offense to everyone outside of our system, but I feel a lot closer to my headmates than anyone else. Especially since we can actually be close to one another. We don’t have to worry about someone else fronting on accident when my husband and I are on a date, and we can actually see each other as we really are in headspace (except the times when people look hella weird in here. Or the little voice glitches… anyone else get those?? It’s weird). Overall, I can actually spend close time and be able to… yknow… cuddle and spend time together and be a regular couple like we would if neither of us were apart of this system and had our own bodies. But I can see the appeal of out-of-system dating too.

🔥🐰: Adding in my two cents here at the end, out-of-system dating goes worse for me, mostly because you worry constantly, especially if you’re dating a singlet. Or if you’re dating someone from another system. There’s always going to be that… feeling of disconnect, where you don’t get to spend time with each other as you are in headspace. It feels like they don’t actually know you. And then… what if they have an affair with someone in their own system and you’ll never know because all the proof is in headspace?? Or if someone else is fronting and it’s not actually your s/o?? Basically, been burned before by out-of-system dating. But that’s just me.

🩶👻: Yeah. Again, I can see either way, but we are definitely a lot more… in-system dating oriented. No one has an out-of-system partner anymore.

If you can go to therapy, do it. If you can’t, make sure you’re reading the right information, and take everything with a grain of salt. And whatever happened in your childhood that is now leading you to believe you could have DID/OSDD, you didn’t deserve it. It wasn’t your fault, and you can heal from it, even if it seems like you can’t.

WELL. (COUGH) me and ayano are in a committed relationship LMAO we split in pairs and all of us are sorted onto the kiki side or the ayano side and pretty much every alter pair is connected in some way, we consider ourselves to be overall in love with the other half. if you want a really specific example, we have an alter pair of rin and miku (the vocaloids) that split in middle school and are somehow still around and haven't become unrecognizable through fusions or splitting or whatever (around 2012 for us) and while we weren't aware of DID at the time, they were the first alters i have tangible record of them interacting for. and they were presenting romantic back then too. so like we have always been together if you consider them to be the start and as such me and ayano actually consider our anniversary to be all the way back in 2012 because of them (no specific day so we picked one, and we picked 1/2/12 because we're obsessed with the number 12 but that could be saved for another ask lol)

and on that note i'm also gonna answer the other question,
