So, summertime is over and it’s autumn outside, which days are still pretty warm.

It’s a shame I had to spend most of the time traveling, visiting stuff and being busy with entrance examinations to the master’s program, because that is the reason I didn’t draw much.

The class schedule’s pretty confusing, so I’ll get to know about it and get clarification at tomorrow’s meeting at my university, because there’s hope that I’ll have more spare time.

In any case, I succeeded in starting to work on redrawing stuff of the concept art drawn by Mike Smith for “The Boxtrolls”, where the early versions of Archibald Snatcher, Eggs, Winnie, Fish, Shoe and some cabbagehead dude were portrayed. I want to draw the same thing, but with the final appearances of the given characters. I still don’t use the tablet or something like that, so I do all the sketches traditionally and that kind of stuff takes a lot of time.

And as you’ve probably guessed, it took a lot of time to portray Archie, but I’m pretty satisfied with the result of my kinda hard work, so I decided to post the sketch of him first to put on airs a bit. I dare say I enjoyed drawing him that carefully, I would call it a character study as well at some point. 

Long story short, I’m happy with the complete sketch and I want you to share that feeling with me too! Hope you like it!

I know I praise the series for how it handles trauma a lot since I like the way the characters react to it and it is realistic in many ways but uhm do the author (and screenwriters) know that even if you repress memories to cope often they still like. come back eventually

#this is abt wwx and lsz #i just think being in a labor camp having yr entire family torn away and then being transplanted (ha) #to an entirely new setting would be really traumatic and have impact even if he doesnt remember it #this is actually more of a problem in the novel ino #bc we do see wwx postcanon and everything is perfectly fine even when it has no right to be #in cql hes still getting nightmares at least (why MAY have happened in the book idk) #and the ending is more vague #but in either version lsz makes no sense and it just emphasizes that his role is to be a Good Son (tm) for the mc #rather than a person #and upon remembering his entire family was slaughtered and his past #ive always had a hard time swallowing that happiness is his first response??! #but mxtx rly wanted her happy ending and forced it through no matter how nonsensical or unrealistic it would have been #and it doesnt feelnlike she handles her characters trauma with realism #i think this did improve in tgcf tho technically it has the same issues #but xl chilling for 800 years is a hell of a different story than wwx being dead for 13 and suddenly being thrust #back into the world after the murders of everyone he loved #honest to god this treatment of lsz and making him a convenient plot device/mechanism the for romance bothers me more than the misogyny #and the misogyny is pretty bad #it's the number one thing that I dislaike about the show and the number two thing I dislike about the book after the treatment of SA #anf given the book's MANY flaws in structure and prose this is quite an accomplish #-ment #the show improved a lot of things like making wq and jyl feel more organic and natural and making wx actually friends #making side characters more fleshed out and cutting out a lot of the nasty jokes and rearranging it so sl and xxc were known to wwx #making wwx know he was into men including all those beautiful lines etc. etc. #but it couldn't save this?! #mdzs txp #cql txp

So there has to be more to this Ray and Mew video.

They didn't show it to the audience so I am assuming it's maybe not as it all seems. Maybe we will get to see it later and find Boston cut it to show what he wants.

Also in relation to that I'm getting a gut feeling that maybe this 'love' Ray has for Mew is actaully partially guilt. If they really did sleep together why is Mew playing a virgin.

Like did they sleep together and then Mew either didn't remember or he's pretending to not remember and so Ray feels guilt over that thinking he took advantage. (I'm just saying this show has a dark edge so something like this is possible.) That may also be the reason for his dislaike of Top thinking the same thing will happen.

There is definatley something more to Mew

Today marks the 3 year anniversary of my Boxtrolls obsession

I felt it was fitting I recreate the first digital artwork I made based on the film to commemorate my growth in artstyle. Perhaps I was going to say something poetic but I've had a long day already and now I can't think of anything else aside from admitting I've seen the film start to finish exactly 50 times. For some reason, -perhaps because of a different cultural upbringing than me, many Commanders keep asking for a Moose Mech.

I have encountered some of them from time to time (Mooses) and while they are pretty big annimals, they are not the largest. They tend to stand cold pretty well, are quite fast, can deliver some powerful, -potentially deadly, kicks, and due to the big crown they can sweep a few lesser opponents at once. When mosquito swarms get to bothersome, they will cover themselves by water/mud and like all annimals they dislaike fire.

So a Moose Mech would be in the middle range, say a 60 tonner. It should have some of the lower multiples, multitargeting, protection against swarms and cold and perhaps some weakness to fire. Adding a bit crit and a decent amount of speed seem warranted as well.

We should also keep it a bit weaker then the 65 tonners, we look to the Megazome for a comparison. Fully developed it have these bonuses:

Crit-Kill 14% Trample 5% 2X Damage 18% 3X Damage 14% Slow (10) Laser Damage + 16% Missile Damage + 16% Proj. Damage + 19% Fire Damage + 16% Ice Damage + 16% Speed + 9 And room for 14 Equipment slots (3 Cockpits, 2 Engines, 3 Shields, 6 Chasis) It has 8 Weapon slots from the factory and gain a new every fifth upgrade.

Settling for one less equipment module, one less start weapon but the same increase rate seem reasonable. Reducing the crit odds to 12%, and giving it around 20% of the 3 lowest multiples instead of the two big ones does not increase the power. 20% Fork instead of the Trample and Slow is not unreasonable. and giving it 50% Ice Shield + 20% protection from Wide Fork and Splash in place of weapon type bonuses seem a fair trade. Increasing the speed boost to 12, we are ready to make a Development Tree.
