Art is an Expression

Art is something we tend to see in our everyday lives, but we don't see it and appreciate it enough. Artworks we see in streets, faces, papers, the sky, music we listen to, and among others Artworks are not something we do; they are something we express. Any experiences in life, any situations we are in, and any people we encounter possess art that we can turn into artwork. Some people, if they don't understand a certain artwork, tend to comment something like "stupid!" "meaningless! "weird!". On the other hand, people who appreciate and love artwork tend to comment with something like "beautiful!" "painful!" "I can feel it!". We interpret art the way we understand it and also from our perspective. One of the great artists of this century with whom I'm living right now is Melanie Martinez. Let's get to know more about this artist I'm talking about.

Melanie Martinez, who was born in Astoria, Queens, New York, in 1995, was raised on Long Island by parents who were of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. She describes herself as an emotional youngster who found it difficult to completely express herself in her family's conventional setting. As a result, she was drawn to poetry, painting, and music from a young age. After participating in the American television vocal competition program "The Voice," she gained notoriety in 2012. She followed it up with the 2014 release of her first single, "Dollhouse," and her debut EP of the same name. In the year 2015, Melanie's "Cry Baby" studio album debuted. The songs "Sippy Cup," "Mad Hatter," and "Mrs. "Potato Head," "Cry Baby," "Pacify Her," and "Soap" were all given gold certification in the United States. Both the EP "After School" and Melanie's second studio album "K-12" were released in 2019. She has a distinct personality and is frequently misunderstood by others around her. Melanie is understanding and non-judgmental, understanding that various life paths suit various personalities. She has a hidden rebellious streak in addition to her inherent empathy. INFPs frequently experience other people's feelings as though they were their own. Melanie dislikes conflict; therefore, if she has to deal with it, she does so by considering her feelings. An artist like Melanie Martinez. She gets inspiration from negative emotions she feels or negative situations she is in. I don't know her personally; I only know her music, artwork, and faces. faces, as I could say because her albums are in three parts but with the same storyline. Faces that represent an alter ego that we can all relate to. Sometimes we are numbing or ignoring the emotions we feel because society tells us that it's weak for us to express emotions by crying, especially men. It makes us uncomfortable when we see someone crying. We don't like to deal with things because we're afraid to deal with anything that other people might find weird. That's the same weirdness some people feel when they see artworks they don't understand. It's the same feeling they feel when they see someone crying or they want to cry but stop themselves because society has taught us that it's weak to be vulnerable. Showing vulnerability means you're a normal human being. I hope that when you see artwork you don't understand, try to see it from your own perspective, allow yourself to feel what you feel, and express the emotions you are longing to express. Allow yourself to be a human being. Everyone can be an artist; just allow yourself to be vulnerable sometimes. Turn that pain into something beautiful. Believe that everything you see in this world might end, but one thing that didn't end is the soul that created art; it lives forever.

vinda de um lar conturbado, tudo o que yeeun gostaria de fazer era se libertar das amarras dos moon. cresceu precisando lidar com negligência, traições, mentiras e até violência, apesar de parecerem uma família perfeita para qualquer um que os visse. o pai era um diretor de cinema conhecido, não sendo raro aparecer em capas de revista por um ou outro filme famoso que havia dirigido, não sendo raro ceder a sala de casa para dar entrevistas ou os filhos serem forçados a tirar fotos em conjunto para contribuir com a história de que se amavam — coisa que yeeun odiava, era nítido na expressão séria em todas as fotos em família que fazia parte.

por isso, era vista como a excluída, a revoltada, a que não dava valor suficiente para os pais presentes que tinha. aguentar toda a situação de falta de autonomia e perda de privacidade se tornava um pouco menos difícil quando se trancava no quarto, escrevia páginas e páginas de seu diário e estudava sobre diversos assuntos diferentes na esperança que algum deles fosse interessante o suficiente para que pudesse ter a mente retirada daquela realidade. foi quando encontrou o gosto por estímulos diretos aos sentidos: cores, aromas, gostos, tecidos. 

a cada nova descoberta, mais a sua identidade visual mudava e seus planos de carreira também — dentre as diversas possibilidades de design, fora o gráfico que lhe fez vislumbrar um futuro longe da família, juntando o que gostava e o que era rentável no momento. logo que completou a maioridade, roubou de seu pai uma quantia suficiente para pagar o primeiro ano de universidade, onde teria ao menos um dormitório para residir, e conseguir juntar dinheiro para o restante com um trabalho temporário de social media nas redes sociais.

in elementary school my friends and I would sit under the jungle gym bond over Melanie Martinez and spill our recession core tea... Aesthetically nothing seemed subversive about it legit so funny because we got into her music so early. now when I go back and listen to dollhouse its so creepy how it accurately depicted my childhood and how I just subconsciously gravitated towards it. like we were singing along to dollhouse and little did we know we were manifesting that shit like I- like one of em had like the most normal seeming happy family like we were all secretly jealous of her I think not on no crazy shit just like damn I wish shit was like that for me.... couple years later shit falls apart on her too. for the rest of us it just seemed like the rest of the crybaby album would be and eerily accurate depiction of the way our childhoods played out.

" It's been five years, but I can still recall perfectly the twenty-four hours surrounding the murders of Victor and Natalia Michaelis. The newspapers said it "shook the town to its core" and I suppose it did, but not for the reasons everyone assumed. I can tell you from experience that almost no one (myself included) wasted any tears for them, and those who did were faking it for the sake of politeness. It sounds callous to say, but it's the truth - being dead didn't suddenly erase the fact that they had only ever cared about themselves...

 But it never made sense, not to the investigators or to anyone else. Victor and Natalia, so brutally slaughtered in their beds, and everyone and everything else left untouched. Now, their daughter, Anastasia, has gone missing, and the only chance of finding her involves uncovering all those twisted secrets that they spent their lives hiding...
