An ideal pern adaptation would be a tv show with 8-9 episode seasons and the first season would be dragonflight and very focused on just that plot and those characters (like the book is) and then season two would be quest interwoven with song and singer and would expand to the scale that the rest of the series is, introducing the many plot lines and characters that would allow the rest of the show to stick to the events of the books without being bogged down by how Anne divided them into books and instead being a sweeping story of all of pern

I know we have a lot of time ahead of us before season two and we're all getting antsy already so just like I wanted to give people OG Matt Smith content, here's some OG dragon content. This series is phenomenal and long enough to keep you occupied until mid-2023 maybe.
When I write in my fics that the rider and dragon have an emotional bond The Dragonriders of Pern series is 100% where I took that from. I started reading these in the 90s and they have stayed with me so much that I write some words as compounds like Anne McCaffery did: dragonflight (book 1 of the series below), dragonrider, dragonsong, etc.

Check out the Wikipedia page for the list of the books and the ebooks are pretty inexpensive on Amazon. I could talk about this series forever! So brilliant and beautiful.

School of All Time Qualifiers
Konoha's Ninja Academy from Naruto
Suppalo from The Eclipse
Worm College from Adventure Time
Harper Hall from Dragonsinger
Yomiyama North Middle School from Another
The top two schools will advance to the bracket rounds. The third place winner could possibly advance as well if it gets a large enough number of votes.

Another random one from the collection: the Colin Saxton edition of Dragonsinger (Sidgwick & Jackson, 1977).
Sariel's Guide to Pern has a whole page dedicated to him (here), and while it's hard to find images of his work online now the old Pern Museum did have the colour version of this artwork.
It's only available on the Wayback Machine now: check it out here.
Tumblr media
It's much easier to find photos of his cover art for Dragondrums (here), which was originally created as a poster for the World Science Fiction Convention in 1972 by Anne.

Red Book Stack
Tumblr media
It's been hot hot HOT outside where I live and it's honestly making me and my honey miserable. Since it is so hot, I figured a red book stack would be a good way to reflect just what we're feeling right now.
And I've read 14 out of 20 books total! Whoo!!!
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy
Neverwhere by @neil-gaiman
God of Neverland by Gama Ray Martinez
The Mimicking of Known Successes by Malka Ann Older
Maus I: A Survivor's Tale: My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman
Boudoirs to Brothels: The Intimate World of Wild West Women by Michael Rutter
Indian Cities: Histories of Indigenous Urbanization by Kent Blansett
Red Dead Redemption: History, Myth, and Violence in the Video Game West by edited by John Wills and Esther Wright
Yasuke: the True Story of the Legendary African Samurai by Thomas Lockley and Geoffrey Giraf
Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey
The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa
Shutter by Ramona Emerson
The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa
Sparkling Cyanide by Agatha Christie
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and the Fall of Imperial Russia by Candace Fleming
The Chronicles of Pern: First Fall by Anne McCaffrey
Zombies, Run! By Naomi Alderman and Six to Start
How many red books do you have? How many have you read? Of these red books, what have you read and enjoyed?

the star wars books are neverending lol
someone requested books 1-8 of the Star Wars: X-Wing series from the ’90s. I’ll be honest, it did make me think I should start doing book 1 only, but I’m going to continue accepting later books for the time being.
however, as always, I encourage everyone who’s considering submitting a whole series to ask themselves, truly, if they need to know how many people read each book in the series, or if they just want to gauge how many people are aware of / have read a bit of the series.

2. Someone who influenced my muse over a longer span of time
One of her former adventuring party members, Jex, was the one who originally recruited her once she struck out on her own, and he was the one who helped her come out of her shell. Kitali was a very emotionally stunted 20something when they met and he was the extrovert who adopted her and rehabilitated her for the few years they travelled together.
Thanks for the ask @azure-dragonsinger!

"bandaging each other up and sharing a tender moment, grabbing your lover's face and not being able to let go" for Myth/Aymeric (mythmeric?), please :D
Ishgard had won the day. The Grand Melee had been a rousing success, and now concluded Aymeric was desperate to pay his thanks to the man who had steered his nation to victory.
Once the chirurgeons had released him from their fussing, the Lord Commander made his way to the small side tent that they had lent the hero of the hour, in order that he could get a rare moment of privacy. Aymeric did consider that his appearance might not be welcomed, but his fears were quickly assuaged by a cheerful "come in" once he announced his presence. He ducked into the tent, and was relieved to find that it was just the two of them.
Myth was perched on a stool in the centre of the tent, hair down and shirt unceremoniously dumped on the floor beside him as he worked off his boots. Aymeric could not help but stare. The Duskwight had a warrior's build, toned and powerful, torso scattered with a number of scrapes and dark bruises beginning to bloom under his skin. Aymeric, unable to draw his eyes away, forced himself to fixate onto a particularly fierce looking one where the Flame General had landed a nasty blow to his side.
Myth noticed the intensity of his gaze, a slight smile creeping onto his lips.
"It barely hurts" he reassured.
Aymeric was less than convinced. He also noticed, belatedly despite having stared for what felt like several minutes, that his wounds did not appear to have been tended to.
"Have the chirurgeons not seen to you?" he enquired.
"I sent them away - tis only a few bruises and there are several men that fared much worse."
This was true. Despite the friendly nature of the melee, there had been several broken bones and deep gashes, and the chirurgeons' hands were quite full. Nonetheless, Aymeric's soldier's instinct (and nothing else) demanded that Myth's wounds be cleaned and dressed.
"In that case, let me see to them. It would not do to have our champion succumb to infection, after all" he pointed out - jokingly, for the most part.
Myth found it amusing, anyway, and he chuckled softly as he beckoned Aymeric forward without a word. The sound of his laugh and the smile on his face made Aymeric's heart skip a beat and he offered a silent and utterly futile prayer to the Fury that the blush he could feel upon his cheeks wasn't obvious.
He took the excuse of locating gauze and bandages to turn away for a moment, attempting to collect himself. He swiftly found what he was looking for and with a touch more composure and supplies in hand, turned and knelt down to the seated Duskwight. The composure already began to waver when Myth offered his side to him, but he studiously began treating his cuts, trying his best to focus on the task at hand.
It was a slow process, Aymeric treating the injuries with far more care than the level of severity warranted, but one-by-one the cuts on Myth's torso were seen to, but there was still more work to be done.
Quite without thinking he moved onto a gash on Myth's face, hand gently cupping one cheek as he assessed the wound. He froze as he realised what he was doing, and when Myth leant into his touch he almost forgot how to breathe. He flicked his gaze up at Myth in surprise, and any remaining shreds of his composure vanished as he found Myth staring back at him, affection clear on his face.
"Never have I felt in safer hands" Myth uttered, almost teasingly, and Aymeric's throat was suddenly all too dry to form a response. He opted instead to cast his eyes back down and continue dressing the cut, one hand cleaning and bandaging, the other remaining in that gentle hold.
Finished, and drawing on the last of his willpower, he drew his hand away. "There," he whispered, and louder, "I shall leave you to your peace".
Without waiting for a response, he stood and turned, exiting the tent in a few quick strides. He swore he saw Myth reach for him out of the corner of his eye, but dared not turn back to confirm. He would dwell on that as he would the rest of the encounter, thoughts of the day swirling in his mind until sleep claimed him late into the night.

32 for the soft stuff :3
32. Describe a soft scenario or memory involving your muse.
Match has always been used to sleeping rough. He's the kind of guy who could fall asleep on a boulder if he was tired enough. That said, on of his softest memories of going to sleep was his first night with Grumble, his chocobo.
Match met Grumble after he joined the Immortal Flames. Warned away from the rowdy bird, Match instead immediately fell in love with Grumble, sensing a shared feeling of rejection by the rest of the world in his new feathered comrade. After a long day riding across Western Thanalan, down to the Silver Bazaar, Match and Grumble settled down for the evening overlooking the ocean. Match would often come here to gaze over to where Limsa Lominsa would be over the horizon, thinking about the life he'd left behind there when he ran away. Getting sleepy, his back to the wall, Match suddenly felt himself dragged into a feathery mass as Grumble pulled him closer, wrapping him up in a donut of yellow feathers and cuddling Match tight with his long claws. It was the softest night's sleep Match had had in his life.
Ever since that night, Match and Grumble have rarely slept apart, even when Match has an inn room. Momodi has had to get used to Match's attempts to "sneak" in a 6ft yellow bird as just part of the service when Match is in town.
@azure-dragonsinger thank you!! Any excuse to tell other people about Grumble, the best, rowdiest chocobo in the whole world.
Soft asks!

The most irritating thing about the Tania Opland recordings is that they have fiddle in them and there’s zero canon mention of fiddles
(Which stuck with me because it’s bizarre and makes my violinist heart sad)
(The other annoying thing is that they changed some of the words from what I remember from the epigraphs. Especially the first verse of the duty song)

my heart foolishly wants a dragonsong musical byt my brain knows it isnt feasable. IGNORING the unlikelihood of rights being obtained despite it being the book in the dragonriders series lightest on actual dragons theyre still in a lot of major plot points so i couldnt simply cut them out(firelizards are less of an issue due to being Little Guys but still a challenge to convincingly portray on stage) . but otherwise i think the plot would be good for an adaptation and it has canon music in it which i sfun and cool

3 and 12 for either boy :D
thank u for the ask @azure-dragonsinger!! ;-; <3 (go check their stuff out pls esp if ur an estinien enjoyer)
3. Who do they worry about the most?
Tumblr media
— To have a Protector complex ensures that you worry for everyone! At least to some degree!! Every one of the Scions gets a special reservation of concern courtesy of Ancel. <:’)c
BUT in terms of specifics, there are a lot of Ishgardian folk he worries about, and for obvious reasons - since he grew up there, he knows/understands some of them a little too well. (Unsurprisingly,) Aymeric has the brunt of this worry.
Aymeric’s tendency to overextend himself for the sake of duty would always resonate with Ancel, and that feeling would be even stronger in the present. He would be quite sensitive to Aymeric’s astronomical composure; may even be jealous of it. Knowing full well the toll it takes to keep one’s chin up, I don’t think Ancel would ever stop worrying about that man. I even imagine their dinner conversation might have dipped into that sort of thing before forcibly circling back to lighter fare..... they definitely have a lot to talk about. >v>;;
12. Does anyone call them by a nickname? What do they think about it?
— "Annie" would've been one that he's heard on the odd occasion, and he actively despises it. He'll curtly correct people who refer him this way.
I've also already made mention of 'Woolgatherer', as offhandedly coined by Estinien when they were in the Temple Knights together - he might have grown fond of it had the two of them not suffered a really awkward... rift in their relationship. (But I like to think that the name will make an occasional return after they make amends uvu;)
And this might not count, but 'Hawk' is the overall moniker Ancel establishes when he realizes he’s beginning to grow more infamous. It stemmed from his appreciation for the birds, and he actually doesn't mind it too much apart from struggling to answer to it at first. After clearing most of his Ishgard-related baggage, he ditches the name in favour of his real one - but he harbours no ill will towards it, and may even come to embrace it as the occasional calling-card rather than a means to hide.
