The glory of a workshop cannot be easily put in words. A testament to man’s ingenuity, the drive to build and create, workshops like this are a vital part of the culture. Often unappreciated, sadly, but so very important to who we are!
sometimes i wake up in the dead of night and see the vague outline of my floor standing drillpress in my bedroom, and i let out a little scream because it looks like the alien from the movie alien. most of the time its fine though.
Add drawers to the scrapwood workbench I made last year for the bench sander and drillpress.
It would really help to have a dedicated place for the drillbits and other parts for those tools, and would make the shop less messy.
Build or get a router table
My router is one of the scariest tools I own. You'd think it would be, you know, the tablesaw or miter saw, but I think the handheld tool with the spinny death bits that are prone to binding and centrifugal forces is worrisome. I see some projects where it would be very useful, but I'd like it to be a lot safer first. Plus not having to rig up a new jig few every damned thing would be nice.
Geta which fit my feet.
I have a pair, and they've been very useful since our yard tends to flood, but the largest ones you can buy online are substantially smaller than my feet. I see no reason I can't make myself a nice pair though.
Raised beds for gardening
I'm going to try to grow potatoes this Spring, and raised beds would help. I need to figure out what kind of wood I can use, but aside from that those should be an easy one to bang out.
Chinese bench
I wish I knew the proper name for these. I saw one (used as an improvised weapon) in an old Wuxia movie, and while I don't have a specific need it looks hand and remarkably sturdy; it'll also be a nice introduction to joinery.

My last project of 2021 was this drill press jig. I probably stef video few day ago but you also wanted to see some photos, so here they are. You'd need two pieces of plywood and ideal it would be 25mm (1") Baltic birch. @wixeydigital angle gauge, piece of steel and screws. Piano hinges, two pieces of aluminium, screws and threaded inserts. Finally you'd need a @microjig Matchfit system clamps and dovetail router bit. #jig #drillpress #matchfit #workshop #woodworking #diy (at Alexandria, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYRXf_DBeH0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Finally finished the stand for my anvil. Tired of lifting it onto benches or working on the floor. Lol. Had a decent walnut log (imagine that) but it big enough by itself. Did a quick rough turn mostly because I needed to shoot some vid, and added oak risers. Solid, heavy and stable. My @novawoodworking Galaxi lathe and Voyager drill press got a workout as well as my @harveywoodworking tablesaw. This is a wonderful example of what real art is like. The near-photographic quality of the painting is simply amazing. That the artist took the time to get such detail really gives us a window into another time. Modern “art” isn’t art because it intentionally holds to no standards so it can’t be objectively judged. Eugene Buland welcomed judgement and stands proud, no doubt.
For the blacksmith, this is a great painting because it helps identify equipment and techniques in use at the time. I certainly wouldn’t mind having a drill like that in my little corner of the world!
