Me with a slight sore throat and the sniffles: it’s probably just allergies!
Me with the chills taking multiple showers a day to get warm: temperature just dropped this week!
Me wearing a mask into the office every day: probably nothing, just in case!
Me today, with the sorest throat and conjunctivitis in both eyes: guess I should have just taken a couple fuckin’ days off to rest.

Anon because I feel like I’m about to say smth cringe lol but how about a fic with a (possibly Psych major) reader that’s got a holistic view of the world with Tadashi? Would be interesting to see what that information brings concerning Baymax’s plan of care and how a relationship would form with Tadashi like dat ya dig
Idk mostly inspired by Natalia Lafourcade’s song María La Curandera (it’s in Spanish, you’ll have to search up the translation if you’re curious!) also growing up in an immigrant household with care alternatives to things maybe a doctor would not take seriously/ not being able to connect with a patient due to beliefs and or language barriers.
Tumblr media
Can I just you’re actually so real for this. This is NOT cringe pookie okay. First of all, love my psych classes but also second of all my family is so holistic. We’re from the Philippines and the hospital is reserved special for if you’re dying. (Btw that’s bad, go to the doctors please)
You don’t fight with your boyfriend…like ever. You don’t like fighting and he thinks fighting i childish. But that’s not to say you two agree on everything. Exhibit A:
“At least with my remedies I know I won’t be overdosing on cough syrup.”
“Baby, with all due respect I’m not using herbs to get rid of a respiratory infection.”
Another thing, you love Baymax. You really do. You were there to help build him, he knows you personally but he has nothing to do with your health. And that irritated Tadashi to no end. Flu season had come around and it seemed like everyone was getting sick. Including you. The basic fever, cough, headaches, and disgusting amounts of phlegm hacking out of your throat. Yet, you denied any help from your boyfriend’s healthcare robot.
It made him upset because you could get better so much faster if you let him use his extensive medical knowledge on you, and yet you still said no. But nothing about your ideologies had created such tension until recently. When he caught you doing something he deemed unfathomable.
Almost a week into you being sick, he’d seen you chopping onions late into the night after making his lemon tea.
“What are you doing?” Tadashi looked over at you after coughing up a chunk of bloody phlegm from his own throat.
You sniffed, clearly congested. “Cutting onions.”
“For what?”
“My socks.”
“I’m sorry?”
Surely he must have misheard you. You and him had been together for years and he knew all about your home remedies. There was a stained food processor in your house from when he had joint pain in his wrist and you had him eat turmeric paste. When Hiro had unknowingly given him stomach flu you went out and bought efficascent oil and rubbed it on his stomach. He’s seen you gargle salt water, chew on peppermint, put baking soda on bee stings, eat raw garlic, and drink cranberry juice for your menstrual problems but that one took the cake.
“Do you want some?” You’d asked it so innocently but your tone could have changed if you’d seen the look of utter disbelief on his face.
The both of you had been sick for a week in an endless cycle of eating strawberries, and oranges, taking magnesium, and eating spoonfuls of grainy raw honey. All of that to him seemed fine. Even he understood to a certain extent you couldn’t just take medicine all the time. But when he offered to buy cough syrup, ibuprofen for throat pain, Tylenol for cough headaches, and other flu medications you shut it down. He was free to take all of those things to make himself feel better and he swore it did.
But you were in so much pain and it seemed like whatever you were doing wasn’t helping. Just that morning, Tadashi rubbed your back while you had a 10-minute coughing fit that was so bad there were streaks of blood in your spit. You’d cried when a pounding headache hadn’t left and he felt so helpless knowing there was nothing he could do about it.
Tadashi stuttered. “W-Why are we cutting onions for our socks?”
“You put them in your socks and then you sleep with them on, my mom swears by it. But if you have like sensory problems that’s okay, you don’t have to.”
“Baby don’t you think- maybe you should just take something for it?”
You scoffed because you already knew where this was going. “You’re not funny.”
“I’m not trying to be funny. It’s just you’re so sick.” His voice dripped with concern.
Just as he’d said it you dug your face into your elbow and started coughing. The loud, raspy, crunchy kind of cough. Almost like the universe was on his side. Then came the cough headaches. The one thing you had allowed Baymax to scan you for and nothing else. A build-up of pressure from consistent coughing and sneezing in your head could cause pounding headaches.
The second he saw the grimace on your face, Tadashi jumped up from his study table and ran over to you. Pulling you in for a hug and gently pushing his fingers through your head. But that was also the time he decided he couldn’t take this anymore. His girl was in pain and crying over a sickness he could use his brain and his bot to figure out how to cure.
“I can’t take this anymore.” He confessed still holding you. “Please, will you let me give you a Tylenol?”
“T, no.”
“Why not? It’s so obvious you’re hurting. I know you don’t like taking medicine. I get that, but you just aren’t getting any better.”
You gently lifted your head off Tadashi’s chest and looked up at him. “So are you and you’ve been taking medicine.”
“But I feel like I’m getting better.”
“Hunny, you threw up an hour ago.” You deadpanned.
He racked his brain for a positive way to spin the horrible retching experience. “O-okay but that’s-um, that’s the body’s way of making itself feel better.”
You two were going in circles. But Tadashi was not backing down. He was adamant that you get better if it was the last thing he did and you knew it. Last year Hiro got sick with a particularly horrible kidney infection. So bad that when he’d tried to walk to the restroom he collapsed on the floor physically unable to move. After that none of your friends ever really saw Tadashi for almost two weeks. Right after school, he’d sprint home just to take care of him. That was his thing. Your boyfriend lived to take care of people.
Some people in the world don’t care about anything you’ve ever done and something you will do. Like doctors. Doctors don’t need to know how good or bad of a person your friends think you are in order to take care of you. Finding people like that is rare. Tadashi is one of those people.
And you, one of the people he loved and cared for most in the entire world wouldn’t let his extensive knowledge on healthcare help you feel better. And no matter how many times you reassured him, he couldn’t help but feel like you being sick was his fault.
“How about this,” He suggested, moving his hand from your head to your face. “I will do your onion-sock thing if you let me give you cough syrup. Just one spoonful and then we’ll drop it. Sound fair?”
A small smile tugged at the corners of your lips as you slowly nodded your head. Out of relief, you were going to let him do something about how you felt, Tadashi leaned down and kissed you right then and there. It was extremely counterproductive and he couldn’t have cared less.
That night, you let your boyfriend spoon artificial cherry-flavored Robitussin into your mouth. And he let you put loosely chopped pieces of white onion in his socks while he slept. For the record, neither of your immune systems ever really recovered in that one night. And yet-somehow, you woke up feeling the best you had in over a week.

Yusuke…. With a reader who can barely talk because of a sore/dry throat??? I’ve legit gotten sick and it hurts to talk 😭 I freaking love ur writings!!!!! <33
Yusuke X Reader with a sore throat
A/N: AHH thank you this is so cute!! i just got over a cold, so i TOTALLY feel you!!
Warnings: other than mentions of a very painful sore throat, nothing!
Word Count: 496
Tumblr media
this cutie
he makes you special teas and adds honey so that it doesn't hurt your throat :)
he'll lay your head in his lap and give you a head or scalp massage
he knows it doesn't have much to do with your throat but he hopes it will at least help you feel better :)
His dorm room is FREEZING and cold temperatures can make your throat sore, or make it hurt more if it already is, so he wraps you up in fuzzy blankets like a burrito
presses kisses to your face while your all cozy :)
reads your favourite book to you and if you don't like books he'll watch your favourite show with you
he does have medicine, but he kinda seems like the type of person who prefers natural remedies, so definitely plays around with teas and other things that can make you feel better
his bed is weirdly comfy, and it definitely smells a lot like him
i kinda feel like he'd have a very soft scent, like jasmine, or maybe a soft vanilla scent. or clean clothes. maybe a mix of all
Your throat hurt so bad it felt raw. Every time you swallowed, or even breathed, it felt like your throat had swollen up and simultaneously been scratched by a very angry cat. You did everything in the book to get rid of it, Drinking water, having spoonful's of honey, and even tried to gargle salt water, but if anything, it felt like all of it had made it worse.
At times like this, only one thing could make you feel better. You slowly and sadly walked over to your boyfriends dorm, angry and annoyed. As soon as you arrived and explained your situation, as hard as it was with the pain of your throat, he got right to it.
He made you sit down in his bed, wrapping a blanket around you and started making tea for you, even though you tried to explain that you had already tried. He hushed you with a quick "trust me", and you let him do his thing, leaning into the soft pillows of his bed.
His room smelled nice, and so did the blanket wrapped around you. He had candles lit throughout his room, a warm vanilla scent drifting through the air. Soon enough you found yourself trying to stay awake.
Yusuke finished up making his special remedy for you, and placed the warm cup in your hand. Honestly, your throat hurt so bad you didn't think you could even open your mouth, but you tried anyways. It tasted good, milky and sweet. You finished it quickly, the lingering taste of honey in your mouth. Now you felt even more tired than you did before.
Yusuke noticed this, and stacked pillows and blankets around you, making his bed mor comfortable, before crawling in with you and pulling you against his chest. He was warm, and he smelt just as sweet as the rest of his room.

Sick Routine
I’m sick. And I feel awful. I don’t really fall sick often but since I live alone, its more important to take care of myself because no one else will.
Here’s a list of things I do to recover fast.
1. Consume Vitamin C and proteins.
2. Steam your face. If you don’t have a steamer, boil some water on the stove, pour it in another bowl, hold your face over it (put a towel on your head to trap the steam) and BREATHE. Eucalyptus oil is a great addition if you have a blocked nose.
3. Keep your feet warm even if it’s summer. So wear those socks.
4. Eat. You need to eat even if you don’t feel like it. Your body needs it more than ever.
5. Hydrate. Drink teas, green teas, masala chai, anything that’s going to soothe you. Ginger, honey, lemon can be added.
6. For a bad throat, I swear by 1 tsp of turmeric and 1 tbsp of honey. Mix it and eat it. I do this about twice a day, once at night and once in the morning.
7. Eat more soup, curry based rice / noodles, risotto - something that’s not bread. I find bread irritating for my throat.
8. Salt water gargling for a bad throat >>
9. Black tea and cinnamon is a great remedy. Another great remedy is lemon juice, 1 tbsp of honey and warm water.
10. Sleep!! Better to not work out either if you’re feeling really bad. A walk isn’t a bad idea though.
11. Tiger balm. It’s amazing! Put it on your nose, forehead, chest, throat and watch yourself recover overnight.
But an issue I thought of immediately when I felt under the weather was - how do I continue my daily habits? I didn’t want to stop being consistent.
So I decided to make it easier.
I allowed myself to take the time off and sleep as much as possible. My eyes felt too heavy to read, so I listened to a short 3 minute podcast instead. I didn’t read in depth articles, I skimmed over the news headlines. I took a 5 minute walk instead of my 1.5 hour gym session. And I didn’t meditate because I didn’t feel like it.
It’s better to take a break and do all you can to recover fully and fast than keep going at full speed and feeling like utter crap for weeks.

I had laryngitis once as a kid and then another a few years back. Just keep drinking water, some warm tea with honey if you got it especially. Humidifier helps a bit too. And of course the main thing of trying not to talk as much, you'll strain more from that (which I didn't do and prolonged my suffering lmao). And just take it easy! OH and salt water gargling!
aH thank you so so much 💖💖

as someone with asthma and someone who has had severe allergies her whole life i have a few tips for you since i know how awful it feels to be sick🫶🏻🫶🏻
if you have a sore throat drink a very hot lemon tea (or regular tea with lemon drops) with A LOT of natural honey. also a spoonful of honey and some drops of lemon juice are very good for your throat
drink A LOT of water
if you have the energy for it take really hot and long showers, the steam helps so much with clogged nostrils. or if you don’t have the energy which is totally understandable, pour boiling water in a big cup or a bowl and put it under your face. this thing is a lifesaver
and this one may seem a bit odd but i promise it works, do gargles with salted water, it helps with throat inflammation
if you have clogged ears which ALWAYS happens to me and it’s the most annoying thing ever, use warm compresses against your ear and it’ll help
hope you recover quickly!! i thought i would help u a bit since u always make my day with your smaus🫶🏻🫶🏻
omg thank u sm im definitely gonna try some of these later 😫🫶
n im so glad im able to make ur day w my works 😣💓

Guys im so sick the pain is unbearable I actually cried a little while ago my throat and head hurt so much
Tumblr media
I'm so sorry. Here's what always helps me:
Drink some warm green tea with LOTS of honey and wrap the teabag in a cloth once it's done. Run the cloth under cold or warm water, lay down, and leave it on your forehead.
Gargling with warm salt water also helps soothe the throat.
I hope you feel better soon!

i'm tired off being sick. it's been about 3 weeks about, give or take. i know it could be worse. but waking up everyday congested with little to no energy is rough.
so much is happening. the stuff outside in the world and the stuff that personally affects me. like i found out i don't get paid through the whole summer. would've been nice if someone had given me a heads up. especially since rent princes skyrocketed and now me and mine are desperately looking for place to live.
most places within our price range have long waiting lists. oi.
and it's difficult looking at places and talking to people when you're not at your best.
anyhow, if you're unlucky enough to catch covid, here are somethings that have made my life bearable:
mucinex. idk, why but this stuff works better than other medicines i tried even though they had the same active ingredients.
saline for the nose
vicks stick - just easier inside of the jar
salt water gargle - warm/hottish water + salt
ginger beer or just ginger you can drink
lemon tea
manuka honey
ice packs or those fever sticky pads
also period underwear, cause for me after having two kids i leak when i have fits of coughing and sneezing.
and just generally stuff that will help you feel comfortable. i hope none of catch it, but if you do i hope this info helps.

Fucked up that we still don’t really have a way to treat most viruses like, oh you’re sick? Yeah that’s unlikely to be bacteria, so... nothing really to be done about this virus, stay hydrated and warm and rest, gargle some salt water, drink tea with honey, like??? I know antibiotics are far form perfect and for most bacterial things, you don’t actually give them to adults bc they don’t usually make you recover much faster, but at least that’s a thing? At least they are an option? Meanwhile with covid and the flu and all the other similar viruses it’s just shrugs, just sleep it off, treat the symptoms, support your body while it’s healing
Like there’s nothing they can give you that’ll just kill the virus so my immune system doesn’t have to, why? It’s wild! It’s wild that the most effective thing to get rid of viruses is still just our own immune system and most things we do to treat illnesses is just supporting our immune system

Heya professor! This is an anonymous pop idol that’s in a bit of a pinch. My partner Brionne is suffering from a sore throat and my show is tomorrow, so any quick fix you can share? I’d love to stop by a Poké Center but being on the road makes pit stops tough. Thanks in advance!
Normally I’d recommend bed rest and drinking plenty of fluids, but I think there are some other remedies you can try
-There are Pokemon safe lozenges and antibiotics you can give Brionne
-Combine 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of table salt with 4 to 8 ounces of water and let Brionne gargle for a few seconds. This can help reduce swelling and soreness in their throat muscles.
-Warm tea mixed with honey also helps. Make sure the honey doesn’t have too much sugar added, first

𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮 承 : 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 | tsuki gang! (1/5)
“y/n, you NEED to practice more, jesus fucking christ. You sound like you’ve been smoking ten packs a day since you were fifteen.” Seokmin tells you as he takes a sip of water. You turn and glare at him, “I have a fucking cold bitchass, I’m trying my best. I shouldn’t even be practicing right now, you should be grateful I’m here.” You spit out and he rolls his eyes.
“Both of you, quit it.” Jihoon says, causing you and Seokmin to both turn away from each other.
Jihoon may not look intimidating, but after having known him for so long, you know he’s scary when it comes to the band. Actually, anything involving music.
In your freshman year of college, you and Jihoon decided to start a band. It wasn’t meant to blow up like it did, but that’s what ended up happening. You and Jihoon came up with the idea when you were both drunk, having a post-finals celebration even though you were hardly sure if you passed.
“Y/n.. what if…” Jihoon hiccups and places a heavy hand on your shoulder before continuing, “we started a band?” You stared at him for a moment, seeing his big toothy grin.
Taking another swig of soju, you respond, “Sure. Why not?”
And that’s how you ended up here today, 22 years old, in a band with your four best friends. That does not include the lead guitarist, Seokmin. That bitch.
When Jihoon recruited Seokmin, you thought he was rather cute. Your small attraction on the man only grew once you heard him play the guitar. Not to mention the fact that his vocals are no joke, but that’s not the topic at hand. Tragically, your attraction died as soon as you had your first practice with him. He critiqued your vocals so much that as soon as he left, you cried in Jihoon’s arms, feeling sad and insecure of your talent.
You understand constructive criticism, but he was downright rude. At the next practice, you decided to be petty and spill milk tea all over his new Balenciagas. Since then, you both had it out for each other. Whether it be critiquing each other harshly for the hell of it, or “accidentally” pushing each other over, then later blaming it on the wind.
Jihoon, as well as the other band members, are sick of it. Mingyu just wants to play the guitar, Jun just wants to play the piano, and Jeonghan wants to play the bass in peace. With you and Seokmin always feuding, it’s hard to be able to focus. While it may be entertaining to them at times, it’s just downright annoying to Jihoon, who really just wants to play the drums.
Especially now that your band is more in the public eye.
After a video of Mingyu playing the guitar during one of your gigs went viral, you’ve developed a good sized fanbase. You have a bit over 100,000 followers on Twitter now, and it’s rather crazy to think about that many people supporting you guys.
However, with that fanbase comes repercussions. You and Seokmin have to act as if you don’t despise each other and aren’t sworn enemies during events. Thus leading to… the ships…
You and Seokmin have become the most popular ship among the fanbase, Jihoon and Mingyu a close second going by the name Mingyuzi. For what reason are you and Seokmin the most popular ship? You don’t know. You almost want to hurl at the thought of fans thinking you and Seokmin are a power couple. Whenever you tweet, the replies are filled with fans asking for a selca of you and Seokmin, to which you still haven’t obliged because that’s disgusting.
“Y/n, go home. You need rest, not practice. We’ll be alright. I’ll stop by the store to buy you ginger tea before heading home.” Jihoon tells you, giving you a pat on the head. You slap his hand away with a playful grin, your previous anger melting away.
“Make sure to get honey too. I don’t like ginger tea that much.” You tell him and he nods, turning back to walk over to his piano. “Make sure to rest a lot y/n, gargle with warm water and salt!” Jeonghan tells you as you walk over to your bag.
“I will, don’t worry.” You reassure him, coughing into your elbow after throwing your bag over your shoulder.
“I’ll text you guys tonight.” They all nod, except Seokmin. Who continues to type away on his phone. You roll your eyes, annoyed by the fact that he didn’t even tell you to get better.
stupid seokmin.
As soon as you leave, the guys turn and look at Seokmin, who is still busy texting away.
“Dude. You were being more of a dick to y/n than usual, you know that she’s sick.” Mingyu says and Seokmin shrugs, slipping his phone into his pocket.
“Whatever, let’s just practice.” Seokmin mutters, feeling his mood go down at the thought of how rude he was to you. Only to stop, thinking to himself, stop it seokmin, don’t go all soft for her now.
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
“He was just… a dick! I literally came to practice for the sake of the band even though I shouldn’t have. Of course my voice is gonna sound like pure ass poopoo! I’m fucking sick Ji, sick.” You rant to Jihoon, who is sitting beside you on the couch drinking ginger tea with you.
“I know y/n, I talked to him about his behavior after practice. He kinda shut down after you left though, didn’t really speak much unless we talked to him first.” He recalls, thinking about how abnormally quiet Seokmin had been once you left.
“Psh, whatever. He was probably thinking of ways to throw me into an abyss after I left.” You say with a sigh, leaning into the comfort of Jihoon’s arm. He wraps his arm around your shoulders and pats your head.
“You guys just need to learn to get along. You always say that you try your best, but you always engage once he starts being a dick or vice versa. There will be no improvement in your guys’ relationship until you each learn when to back down.” Jihoon explains and you pout, knowing very well that he’s right.
“I’m sorry Ji, I’ll try harder.” You mutter, to which he doesn’t respond.
“I’m gonna head to bed, and you should too y/n. The more rest you get, the faster you’ll heal.” You nod, and he goes off to his room in your shared apartment, shutting the door behind him.
You reflect on what Jihoon said, knowing that he’s right and that you should try harder. Not just for your sake, but for the whole band. You and Seokmin have been feuding for the past year and a half, all for no reason. He’s stupid, arrogant, and rude. However, you’re willing to try for the band.

small natural medicine things you can do for comfort/symptom relief/immune boosting, obviously not suggesting this to replace anything the CDC says, just some extra stuff!
- eat raw garlic! the allicin in it is great for your immune system. i crush up a clove or two & take them with water like a pill! i have some right before breakfast & right before lunch - don’t have it at night bc it can give some people indigestion after laying down. you can also finely dice up raw garlic & wrap it in a paper towel or cheese cloth & put it inside your nostrils or ear, CAREFULLY as to not lose any pieces. the garlic will hurt you if it’s not contained properly, but if you do this right you can really feel the effects. raw garlic is my first line of defense for colds/flus/etc!
- raw honey! raw honey is sooo good for your throat. also it’s amazing for face masks. you can combine honey + garlic if eating the clove by itself is too much for you! i sometimes make loved ones “garlic honey spoons”. it’s when you chop up a clove of garlic and gently place it into a spoonful of honey. usually i’ll say take your medicine. very fun
- fresh ginger or candied ginger! this is immune boosting but also really helps some people (i am among them!) with nausea. you can grate ginger & steep it covered in boiling water like tea. this goes awesome with honey. you can also put it in a honey spoon! yum
- fresh sage tea! sage is cheap & astringent, antiseptic and antibacterial. it is SO great when you have a sore throat. just rip up a few leaves & steep in a mug of boiling water. you can gargle with this (it kills the bacteria making your throat sore!) or drink it. it’s a very mild fever reducer too
- lemon & lime time! i’ve been squeezing a LOT of fresh lemon & lime onto various stuff i’m eating, or you can put it in tea. vitamin c isn’t only great for your immune system, it also helps you absorb vitamin d from sunshine
- if you want to get crazy with the citrus, a hot toddy (WITH NO ALCOHOL) can just absolutely blow your socks off. warm water + half a lemon or lime + 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper = the mucus in your nose running for its life. this tastes insane and is like something an witch you’re scared of who turns out to be good would make you drink. fan favorite in our household
- eat stuff high in iron! hard to list things because only you know what you like but go down a rabbit hole of googling foods that are high in iron & i’m sure you’ll see something that looks good to you
- eat fruits & vegetables! when you’re sick at all, you need to stay hydrated, and your body LOVES getting moisture from fruits & vegetables. three of my favorite easy, hydrating vegetable snacks: bok choy chopped & simmered in broth (you can add miso paste + tofu!), zucchini chopped & sauted with onions, garlic & your choice of seasoning profile), & celery + peanut butter. OH also microwaved (clean, poke with fork, wrap in wet paper towel) or baked sweet potatoes - SO versatile
- gentle saline rinses in your nasal passages! okay, you need to look up how to do this one properly. you need the proper ratio of sea salt to warm (not hot!) water. i usually put it in a spoon and then just put my head back and pour it inside my nose, but you can also gently sniff the water. if your nasal passages get dry from this, stop immediately!! it’s very easy to overdo it, whether too often or too much salt
- ok this one isn’t natural medicine but vick’s! oh my god, vick’s. your chest, under your nose/on your nose, and in the cup of your ear. do this before a nice hot shower or before sitting yourself to breathe in steam over a fresh cup of tea OR even just the hottest water from your sink. you can also do this with 1 or 2 drops of eucalyptus oil on a rag/paper towel, but that shit is extremely potent & can be irritating to your skin, so be careful!
- diaphragmatic breathing! i know this gets brought up as the cure for so many emotional ills but it really can help stabilize you. i’ve been having a lot of fear/anxiety, which shortens my breath, which creates a feedback loop of i feel like i can’t breathe, so i feel like i can’t breathe, etc. horrible spiral! doing diaphragmatic breathing interrupts this. there are people who do certain counts in and out (like 5 seconds in through your nose, hold for 5, out for 7) but the general gist is: you want to breathe in very deeply through your nose to a natural place of fullness, hold it for a few seconds, and then breathe out through your mouth for longer than your intake breath. if the counting stresses you out or doesn’t feel right, just try to find that rhythm on your own. if you’re feeling strained when you try to breathe in for too long or holding your breath feels strained, that’s not the right amount of time for you to be breathing! try to find that natural point of fullness & release for yourself. i try to do this breathing as much as i can, even while watching tv, playing video games, reading, whatever. it’s a great time to get into a new habit.
- remember to move! it’s essential to not be completely physically still even if you’re feeling trapped & overwhelmed. something as simple as stretching your arms over your head a few times or just any basic stretching while still sitting is so much better than sitting in one position.

I'm having the worst cold of my life, and my biggest problem is my extremely painful throat. I'm having trouble functioning due to the pain, and nothing is working. I've slept 5 hours in the last 3 days bc of the pain. Do you have any tips for the pain or even just how to mentally hold on until I get better? (I've been taking advil, drinking hot drinks, sitting in a steamy bathroom, and using salt water rinses. I can't use cough syrups bc it interacts with my Zoloft. I'm seeing a Dr today too.)
Oh no I’m so sorry, that sounds awful. I am glad you are seeing a doctor today, maybe they’ll be able to prescribe a stronger version of the throat numbing spray you can buy otc in some places.
In the meantime, are you able to eat honey? When I was super sick and still able to eat honey I would frequently take a spoonful and melt it in about a cup of warm water and gargle with it, which seemed to help my sore throat get better faster than the salt water rinses which I sometimes found could irritate my throat more (especially if I’d used them a little too much and irritated the area) I also suck on melted ice cubes sometimes for my sore throats, but sometimes the cold can make it worse (ice water can sometimes be an irritant to sore throats, even if it feels good at the time) so maybe try that?
You could also try teas that contain liquorice root and slippery elm, as those can help with sore throats, but you’d also need to check how they interact with your meds/tak to your pharmacist.
You can also try letting a piece of chocolate melt in your mouth, as the chocolate will then coat your throat and might perhaps give you some relief. I learned this one from my opera singer friend when she was telling us why she’s not allowed to have chocolate before a show, but she tends to use it after if she’s feeling a bit rough/raw. (But if your sore throat is from heartburn/reflux the acidity might make it worse so use with caution)
Mentally just try and let yourself zone out as much as possible. Sleep might be beyond you at the moment, but even laying down will help your body by not putting extra strain on it. Maybe play a game or read a book or try to do something that’ll keep your mind busy while not requiring too much energy.
I also like to apply a warm cloth over the outside of my neck sometimes as I feel the heat helps, but if you’re feeling feverish you might not want to.
Ugh, sorry I can’t be more helpful. Take care and I hope your doctor is able to help 💖💖💖

While talking to a friend, I managed to typo "hell yeah" as "hell tea," and this has got me thinking: what would be the anteathesis to Jesus tea?
Well, Jesus Tea* is basically Soothing Decaf Teas+Mild Spice+Vitamin-C Rich Juice+So Much Honey**.
...since concrete objects don’t have opposites per se,I’m kind of free-associating, so it comes out to something like:
Hypercaffinated Coffee+EXTREME SPICY, JUST POUR HALF A BOTTLE OF SRIRACHA IN THERE, MAYBE GRIND UP A COUPLE HABENEROS+Gin***+ just a hint some kind of artifical sweetner that may or may not cause cancer.
Which sounds like something colleage students would come up with as a hangover cure/study aid/other kind of unnatural life-aid, so it really does seem somewhat faustian so I’ll call it SATAN’S LATTE.  I see from your description that you’re a programmer so lemme take a moment to do a safety psa and say DO NOT DO THIS AT ALL EVER.  DON’T DO IT AT HOME. DON’T GO OVER TO A FRIEND’S HOUSE. DO NOT.
*Jesus Tea is not actually affiliated with any religion, it’s named that because it’s easy to google when you’ve got only two brain cells left from being sick.
** Jesus Tea is pleasant but innefective unless you gargle with salt water to break up the mucus in your throat/sinuses first.
*** IDK what the opposite of fruit juice is, but Gin and Juice was a favorite drink of my grandmother’s so I kind of opposite-pair the two.  Also juice is nice and Gin smells like drain cleaner so flavor wise they’re probably opposites.
