"Submerging in that particular oil was problematic since it took the makeup off, and we discovered the [Baron Harkonnen's] suit was buoyant. We lost a full suit cutting holes in it to weigh him down," says [Donald Mowat, make-up artist]. Nor was it fun submerging underneath the murky depths for [Stellan] Skarsgård. "I don't know what that goo was and was a little afraid to ask," he says. "But it was some sort of sticky emulsion of water, slime, oil and black color." He pulled off the scene to reveal full Harkonnen menace, one of the [DUNE (2021)] homages to 1976's APOCALYPSE NOW. | USA Today • Oct 21, 2021

She brushed the tears coursing down her cheeks, thought: What a stupid waste of the body’s water! But she knew this thought for what it was — the attempt to retreat from grief into anger.

Everything is ready in San Vito di Altivole for the filming of the highly anticipated blockbuster "Dune: Part 2". From Monday 4 July, Canadian director Denis Villeneuve and his crew will be working in the Marca to shoot some sequences of the new film in the saga.
In these days the Brion Tomb, location of the filming, was donated to Fai (Fund for the Italian environment). During the donation ceremony, Thursday 30 June, the new owners announced that the funeral monument, designed by architect Carlo Scarpa, will be closed for the whole of next week. The visits will resume from 8 July: the reason is obviously to leave room for the shooting of the film starring Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet. Shooting, which kicks off Monday, will likely last until Wednesday 6 July. The set is very secure: the mayor of Altivole, Chiara Busnardo, has signed an ad hoc ordinance to limit access to the filming area. The arrival of dozens of fans from all over Italy is inevitable but the controls will be tightened. For Altivole the pride of being the backdrop to one of the most anticipated international films of the next film season remains: the release date of the film, scheduled for October 20, 2023, has recently been postponed to November 17, 2023.
