Answer 11 questions, then post 11 new ones of your own.

What is witchcraft to you? I have to confess it doesn’t play much of a role in my day-to-day life. 

Do you grow any plants? Okay, so, I have the opposite of a green thumb (a brown thumb?), but we do have some plants around the flat and on the terrace, including (v. important) herbs for the kitchen. My partner takes care of them, though, so I wouldn’t say I grow them…

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful painting in the world? In the world?! I have trouble picking favourites in the first place, and with visual arts the problem is compounded by the fact that I studied art history in art school, and spent a LOT of time in museums and galleries… If I restrict myself to paintings I have actually seen (not prints), I love Two Girls in White Dresses, by John Singer Sargent (or anything by him, really, esp. watercolours). Early 20th century British artists who lived a bohemian’s life “on the continent” are my jam.

Have you seen that painting yourself (not online)? Oh, well yes! At Le Petit Palais, in Paris.

What is the most ridiculous thing about the English language (or your own native tongue)? There’s too much to choose from, really. I’d say both French and English conjugation: English’s is ridiculously easy, and French’s ridiculously complicated. Are there any chores you enjoy? I enjoy cooking, but then I wouldn’t call it a chore. I don’t mind too much the ones that let your mind free to roam, like doing the dishes.  What little thing makes you disproportionately happy? In the winter, my partner always thinks to put my towel on the warming hanger thingy, and to turn it on before I go and take my shower. It’s the toasty warm towel of love! 

What do your bed sheets look like right now? It’s an empty duvet cover (it’s still warm here) with a white and blue flower print. The bed is made.

What was the last book you finished reading for fun? Making Sense of Japanese? Yes, for fun! (and it is rather funny, too) Fish or geckos as pets? Geckos! They’re so cute with their little round fingers! I wouldn’t say they were pets, but when I was young, there were always geckos running around (and on!), my parents’ house. I was always careful when closing the blinds (a favourite napping place of them). One time I crushed a baby gecko who was hidden in my shoe. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. (Well this took a turn…)
