It's been a while since I drew anything, and I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Infinite Fusion lately, so here are my littlest (and big) guys!!
From top-left to bottom-right we got Whimsy (Togetic/Charizard), Fuzzwuzz (Beedrill/Primeape), Blade (Doublade/Farfetch'd), Echo (Crobat/Eevee), Zipzap (Politoed/Pikachu), and Totoro (Snorlax/Gengar).

I feel like i'm cooking with gas for Karrie's lore.
Karrie has different responses for people depending on who and how she's fighting them.
If Karrie's fighting Lex, they're just playing. They would never actively try to permanently harm each other (even though it's really hard for them to hurt each other anyway). If it's someone who just wants to pick a fight and nothing more, Karrie will certainly try to fight, before forfeiting for the meme.
If it's someone who actively seeks to harm Karrie or Lex (and has the capability to do so), however, this is where it gets bloody.
Karrie would insult someone's fighting skill before murdering them. She would grab them by the head, yell "SLOPPY" then brutally crush their head against the ground. "YOUR FOOTSTANCE WAS TRASH" before ripping them in half. generally more silly to those who only seek to hurt her or Lex. Karrie doesn't take those people very seriously.
she'd only go way more personal and infinitely more cruel if it were someone who personally mattered to her (i.e. a Mewtwo, a poacher, etc.)
Mewtwos are more of a special case where she wouldn't insult them directly and instead just as a whole. She seeks extinction for the species, she can't get too attached to any of them by calling them names.
With humans who have gone out of their way to hurt Pokemon (which mirrors how she came to be in the first place), she would not hold back on making their last moments insufferable, echoing the cries of the ones they hurt back to them, slowly turning into the voices of the ones they loved. If they're lucky, she won't kill them, but she will have given them lifetimes of regret and the inability to forgive themselves, alongside tethering some of these voices to the victim to make sure they never forget.
Karrie doesn't do this because she sees herself as a hero, she knows she's a horrible person, but she doesn't believe in redemption. Karrie believes that no matter what you do, how many people you help after, no matter how polite you try to be after, that won't un-hurt someone. The least she could do is ensure that the pain is inflicted back equally.

So... instead of working on a typed up collection of recipes from multiple different food magazines or playing Pokemon.... @h-theartist and I were talking about this angsty AU about Gogo becoming brainwashed by a supervillain after risking her life to save San Fransokyo and everyone thinks she died. And she came up with this super ANGSTY dialogue that I just had to write a story surrounding!!!!!
“Oof!”
Honey Lemon stumbled back into the wall of crates behind her, setting a hand along her jaw where she’d just been punched by Lightsp- by Gogo. Honey Lemon refused to see the figure in front of her as anyone other than her girlfriend, even though she was acting and thinking like an entirely different person. All that seemed to do though, was make it infinitely harder for Honey Lemon to fight her.
When Hiro heard that Krei Tech was expecting a new shipment of equipment and parts, they had all originally anticipated Gigavolt and Lightspeed to be there to steal it. What they hadn’t anticipated however, was that Yama would also be here. So instead of the five of them facing off against Gigavolt and Lightspeed, it was now the five of them versus Gigavolt, Lightspeed, Yama, and all of Yama’s henchman. Instead of having Fred or Wasabi by her side, they were facing off against Yama’s goons while Hiro and Baymax raced to secure the tech before either bad guy could their hands on it.
But that left Honey Lemon alone to face Gogo. And even though Honey Lemon didn’t want to hurt her girlfriend, Gogo clearly had no qualms about it. As Honey Lemon stood there, still taken aback by the punch, Gogo rushed at her. She swallowed the lump forming in her throat, hurrying to get out of the way of Gogo’s next hit. Gogo’s fist hit the air, but Honey Lemon wasn’t able to put any distance between them before Gogo grabbed her arm. Before Honey Lemon could realize what happened, Gogo began twisting her arm and kicking both her legs out from underneath her. She hit the pavement with a slam onto her opposite side and arm.
“What’s the matter with you,” Honey Lemon whispered to herself. It was a rhetorical question of course, Honey Lemon knew the answer long before she asked the question. She couldn’t bring herself to hurt her girlfriend, she didn’t want to do that to the woman she loved more than anything. But, if Big Hero 6 was ever going to succeed in capturing Gigavolt and rescuing Gogo, she had to fight her. She had to fight Lightspeed and defeat her in order to get back Gogo.
But that didn’t make it any easier for Honey Lemon. She didn’t see a villain when she looked at Lightspeed. She saw her girlfriend, and all the ways she failed her.
“Come on Honey Lemon,” She whispered to herself, “Woman up!”
Honey Lemon rolled over, preparing to quickly get back onto her feet, to find Gogo had been standing over her. It was clear by her stance that, while Honey Lemon was briefly stuck in her own head scolding herself, she’d been planning to hit her while she was down. But she hadn’t. Instead, it’s as if she’s frozen in place with her arm pulled back at the ready. She’s mumbling something, in a quiet but.... is that panic Honey Lemon hears in her voice?
It’s difficult to understand what Gogo is saying, her helmet acts too much as a muffler for her voice. Honey Lemon steps closer, too desperate to understand what her girlfriend is saying to think about how her actions might be interpretted. Her hand lightly grips Gogo’s arm, lowering it to her side as she tries to meet her eyes behind the dark visor.
Despite how quiet Gogo suddenly is, “why does that sound so familiar?” echoes loudly in Honey Lemon’s ears as she meets Gogo’s confused gaze. Confusion quickly shifts to pain though and Gogo jerks away from Honey Lemon. And now suddenly its Gogo who is trying to get as far away as she can from Honey Lemon and keep her distance.
But Honey Lemon isn’t about to let Gogo get away, not after what she just saw and heard. She doesn’t hesitate to take off after Gogo, using her chem boots to freeze the ground beneath her. With how fast Gogo can run, its the only way she would be able to keep up with her as she races across the docks and into the maze of industrial storage units that make it up. Honey Lemon doesn’t notice that she can’t hear Wasabi and Fred any longer as they take on Yama’s goons, nor would she have cared even if she did. All she cares about is keeping up with Gogo, because the minute Gogo gets too far ahead, she’ll be gone.
Gogo takes a sudden turn down a narrow side route between two towers of industrial crates. Honey Lemon turns to make it as well, watching as Gogo rushes towards the end of it. Honey Lemon reaches for her purse, lifting it up slightly higher before pressing one of the many buttons. The small cannon pops out immediately and Honey Lemon fires a single, lone chem ball. Honey Lemon skids to a stop as she watches it fly, shooting past Gogo and far ahead of her until it finally explodes. Gelatinous pink goo stretches from one tower of crates to the other, effectively blocking off the path.
Gogo skids to a stop in front of it, and stares. The two of them are silent, Gogo staring at her blocked escape route and Honey Lemon staring at her girlfriend. Honey Lemon takes a step forward.
“I just want to help you.”
“Get out of my way,” Gogo demanded quietly, hands clenched tightly into fists as she turned slowly to face Honey Lemon.
"Gogo-”
“I said get out of my-”
“Please listen to me!” Honey Lemon doesn’t mean to raise her voice, but she needs Gogo to listen. Gogo has to listen to her, “You have to believe me, you were my girlfriend! And you know big hero 6, ‘cause you were a part of it!"
You are my girlfriend, she thinks. You are part of Big Hero 6. It isn’t past tense anymore. It never was past tense. Honey Lemon takes another two steps closer, clasping her hands loosely together in front of her. She doesn’t want to keep fighting with her girlfriend, she doesn’t want to keep doing this anymore.
"I...” Gogo can’t help but stare at Honey Lemon. But just as quickly as she starts to form one thought, she starts shaking her head. She turns her gaze downward, refusing to stare directly at Honey Lemon, “No! Stop messing with me! You're not going to fool me!"
"I'm not trying to, I'm telling you the truth! We were your friends, Gogo! And so was I..."
"S-shut up!" Honey Lemon flinches, stepping backwards as Gogo presses her hands into the sides of her helmet. She’s never really heard Gogo scream before like that, and it immediately brings tears to Honey Lemon’s eyes. It isn’t just because Gogo sounds so confused or frustrated, it’s because she’s in pain. She’s in pain and its scaring her. And Honey Lemon is putting her through it, when hurting Gogo was the last thing she would ever want to willingly do.
But Gogo needs to remember. Gogo has to remember. And Honey Lemon knows that she can. If they were in each others positions, Gogo would want her to remember. Gogo would woman up and do whatever it took to make her remember, even if it hurt them both.
"Do you remember Hiro? Wasabi?” She asked quietly, surprised by how steady her voice was despite feeling like she was on the brink of crying. She took another two small steps forward as she continued asking, “Fred? Baymax?”
Gogo started moaning quietly, trying to manage the pain that was developing in her head. Each question seemed to make it stronger, it felt like her skull was starting to throb. Rational thinking was starting to abandon her, as all Gogo wanted was for the pain to stop.
“Stoop,” She pleaded, not realizing how weak it sounded.
Before Honey Lemon could respond though, Gogo had suddenly taken her helmet off in one swift move. It clattered noisily to the ground as she pressed her hands against her head, as if that would somehow help make the pain more bearable. Honey Lemon could only stare at Gogo, wishing she could pull her into her arms and kiss the pain away.
It hasn’t occurred to Honey Lemon, up until now, how long its been since she’s actually seen Gogo. For three months, all Honey Lemon had were pictures to look at her from, and when Gigavolt returned, all Honey Lemon could see through the visor were Gogo’s beautiful brown eyes. Her purple streak has faded, nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding black. There’s a bruise on her forehead, a faint yellowish green, that’s a reminder of the last time Gogo and Gigavolt fought Big Hero 6. Its presence is further emphasized, despite nearly being healed, by her slightly paler than normal complexion.
Honey Lemon sees it, but she doesn’t notice it. She’s too focused on the pain written on Gogo’s face. Confusion glitters in Gogo’s eyes as she struggles to comprehend what’s wrong with her. Honey Lemon bites her lip, listening silently to Gogo as she moans in pain. She waits with baited breath, praying that the realization will suddenly strike her. That at any minute, Gogo will look up at her, recognize her, and they’ll run into each others arms. She’s waiting, but that moment isn’t coming. It isn’t coming and Gogo needs more help remembering.
“Gogo?” Honey Lemon’s words catch in her throat. And she hesitates. She’s already causing Gogo enough pain as it is, trying to encourage her to think of good memories. She’s already hurt her girlfriend enough. If she asks her next question, it’s only going to make it worse. She’s asking her to remember something painful, something that none of them could ever truly forget.
She takes a shaky breath before continuing, “... do you remember Tadashi?"
Honey Lemon reaches up to wipe at her stinging eyes, feeling a small hitch in her throat as she does so. Honey Lemon doesn’t doubt for a second, if Tadashi were still here, that he’d be by her side to help bring Gogo home. She knows this in her heart just as she knows how much she loves Gogo.
Gogo goes quiet, eyes staring blankly at the ground as she seems to be processing the question. And then suddenly, she lifts her head enough to stare Honey Lemon in the eyes, tears running down her face. When Gogo suddenly speaks, her voice is congested from the tears, her words broken up by tiny hilting gasps for air.
 "... T.... Tadash... UGHH SHUUT UUUP!!! ”
Gogo falls to her knees with a noise that is both near hysterical crying and pained screaming. It’s all Honey Lemon can hear, even when Gogo has no choice but to stop for air. Each hiccuping gasp sends a pang of guilt through Honey Lemon, making her feel more and more like a traitor to her own girlfriend.
“I DON’T WANT TO LISTEN ANYMORE,” Gogo screams, struggling to catch her breath. She starts to fold her entire body downward, curling inward like a ball as her fingers dig into her temples and palms press into her eyes.
Honey Lemon rushes to Gogo’s side, struggling to keep it together. Listening to her girlfriend break down, watching her break down, rips her already broken heart further apart. She just wants to pull Gogo into her arms and make all the pain go away. She wants to take it away just as quickly as she inflicted it.
She only manages three steps though, before she suddenly finds herself on the ground. Pain spreads throughout her entire body, making it incredibly difficult to move, the worse of it coming from the very center of her back. Where she was struck... by a powerful bolt of electricity.

Sometimes I wonder if the people who love the idea of 2 3h brave banners would be that happy and preachy if it was a Fates sweep instead. Imagine the chaos if the 2 Corrins, Takumi and, Azura were to win.
They wouldn’t. They’d be furious and hate it.
See, this is the problem with fandom in a nutshell. Everyone is here for themselves. They want the things they want to the exclusion of all else. If they don’t like a game, any attention on that game is considered bad. If they do like it, there’s no such thing as too much. Same goes for characters. Like, even I’m guilty of this. I never want another Ike alt, but if they want to give me more Micaiahs, who am I to say no?
IS, the company running all of this, has to make choices that results in the best outcome, dodging around the irritation of literally everyone. So they play to favorites. Three Houses is big now, and most people don’t give a shit. Hell, most would still take yet another new banner of just those characters next month if it meant Felix or Marianne or whoever got in. They know this, so they’ll play to it. Not all at once. Gotta keep them expecting stuff and excited about the future, and avoid burnout. But this is the reason Three Houses already has a solid percentage of its cast in the game while Thracia remains at sub-20% despite having been around for all nearly 4 years of the game’s life instead of just the last 1.3. They’re going with generally popular picks. It’s why Awakening and Fates kicked things off, why Awakening stopped getting anything as many of the cast dropped off in popularity overall, and why Jugdral remains a myth. The only way to change it is to change a lot of minds about favorites. Good luck with that. So it goes on jerking off the same material infinitely.
Honestly, while I hate it, it’s hard to say this is the worst outcome. Echoes did really well when it first dropped too, and Fates and Awakening were recent when Heroes released. There’s a recency bias, which I actually count as a blessing. It means on the whole, the series is going strong, and its fans are really enjoying new content and appreciate the changes. Which is more than I can ever say for Touhou or Pokemon. Touhou has the problem on the fans’ side, where they think EoSD was the bestest thing ever despite being an awful game to play with virtually no substance. Pokémon has the inverse where the developers are solely concerned with a return to a golden era and want so desperately to cash in on nothing but nostalgia factor. While Fire Emblem definitely has its faults, this is honestly one of the better series to be invested in right now, because it’s going strong, isn’t mired in chasing a long gone fan base, and fans are overall pretty receptive to new ideas.

Escapril 2019
escaprilday 2019 // 1: a fresh start
two Costco bags full of
umma-certified clean clothes,
“unpacking cannot begin with wet clothes”
Taipei humidity is unkind.
coins clink,
white noise revs
drowning out the drizzle
as heart somersaults
to the rhythm of the cycles:
what — tum — am I — ble
doing — tumble — here?
the darks tumble its final spin
as the lights
click —
into a stop.
a whiff into a warm towel
warns me the comforts of home,
promising
of munchies, blankies, and speedy wifi
of cushy floor space where crafting
and writing past midnight can be done in secret
but —
fold — maybe — toss — I changed —
yellow blouse — or gave up too easily —
fold — or could it be —
toss — I’m listening to all the wrong voices? —
red turtleneck — no — flick —
wait, this is so soft now, I guess the washing machine in that guest house in Seoul was indeed really terrible —
fold — yes, this is how it should feel on my skin —
toss – my heart knows, though —
fuzzy sock — maybe home is where I need to be right now —
into basket — there’s nothing wrong with —
grab — starting over again.
escaprilday 2019 // 2: april showers
you said all memorable moments
include an unexpected deluge
I nod and laugh
as the metro ac pierces through
my drenched jacket
I shiver as I feel my clammy socks
cling onto my not-rainproof Docs
("they're not?" you ask in shock)
ears ringing still
from speakers booming
throat scratchy from scream-singing
at the top of our lungs.
still, you smile, shiver, and say,
with half-dazed eyes,
all good memories
end in rain.
escaprilday 2019 // 3: incorporate music
“Hope I’m not tired of rebuilding”
at this in-between
this time of heating up lukewarm lattes
and microwaving soggy french fries,
a surrendering of old and new
kindles a familiar tune:
“not what’s easy, what do you want?”
at this in-between,
the seconds between a squat and a jump
or the hours during an endless free fall,
a whisper sings an awakening:
“even a phoenix dies”
so at this in-between
muster up the strength to
inhale blue
and exhale gold.
escaprilday 2019 // 4: anxiety
lacuna
¡amiga!” he chimes like clockwork
with a sonrisa that has probably charmed plenty of hearts.
my fist bumps his and I walk toward the dark halls
where they tilt their heads forward and say
“안녕하세요” they grin,
some fake, others genuine,
mostly muscle memory.
“哈咯“ she greets as I turn the corner—
a sound of familiarity.
the velcros on my lips finally relax
till we part ways to our stations
“how are you?” their words flow dry
they probably don’t want to find out
my tongue lands on one syllable:
“good”.
escapril 2019 // 5: back to nature
I’ve a secret spot for seeing stars in Taipei City.
after a day downtown,
blasting my headphones at damaging decibels,
fixing makeup with samples at drugstores,
and chasing after buses,
I skip down the announced “platform two for Taipei Zoo”
and gaze down at the light show stage named Zhongxiao Fuxing.
as the red greens, a rush of headlights streams at me—my eyes
lose focus, my heart
leaps back into my chest just as
the home-bound metro approaches.
//
I’ll always remember the yard at Tiszavasvári
where we lay to see a starry night drawn by the Creator
after a day of listening to screaming children,
braiding their hairs,
and chasing after the impossible ones,
we stood in awe, jaws dropped, then soon learned
our necks weren’t strong enough
so we lay down, evening breeze
accompanied by the crickets sang a lullaby—
my eyes played a senseless game
of connect-the-dots, my heart skipped several beats
as I let go of the memories of beds and blankets.
escapril 2019 // 6: nostalgia
missing you is easy.
remembering you creeps
up in little mundanities
like a cup of fruit tea
a bottle of Clorox
or an inappropriately loud laughter--
to my consolation, yours is unmatchable.
although,
the sound of your laughter rings
quieter
till I can whisper:
escapril 2019 // 7: start with a time of day
3 a.m.
why wait
for dawn when
we can set yesterday
up
in flames
over this river?
escapril 2019 // 8: love poem
I cannot recall the exact words uttered
but something in my heart fluttered:
our eyes met for a millisecond
we cracked, till our breaths weakened.
our words, lost in the waves
transformed into safes
I open in my heart of hearts
to feel at home within the laughs of your loves.
escapril 2019 // 9: focus on the color
chorok hadn't found its form in
korean of old. fields of
grass and evergreens,
little plates of herbal banchan,
lush of summers,
and squirming caterpillars
all existed as paran-- that same
color ascribed to vast oceans,
and sunny skies
then one lively spring, chorok
creeped its way into our tongues,
demanding to be seen on
street signs,
the mountain tops, and
cross walk lights
though some still speak "the light
turned paran",
and the incorrigible children's tune
singing of spring
blossoming into paran,
chorok sprouts an entrance
undeniable to out naked eyes.
escapril 2019 // 10: femininity
the bus,
back slides down on the uncomfortable bus seat,
fingers stroke through my freshly buzzed head,
while many eyes fixate above my eyes,
asking:
"is she a boy or a girl?"
"is she a lesbian?"
"what happened to her… hair?"
eyes read their faces,
mouth struts a big yawn with no reflex system telling me to conceal it.
imagination floats to a stadium,
feet stands on the podium,
voice declares:
I'm still so-very-much a lady--
just not fair like Audrey,
nor dainty like a stereotype,
or as brave as Joan,
and definitely not as attractive than most
but maybe more like
the ones writing history
now.
escapril 2019 // 11: not from your perspective
most of the time I sit beside the maroon sofa
where you watch tv and transform into a potato
I wait and wait for that sweet moment
you grab my handle
travel me to a flat desk
wind me up with thread
hook me up to a pedal
switch my light on
smooth out a piece of fabric
pinned up in zig zag
then
zoom, crackle, buzz,
your hands sync to my rhythm
you pray I don’t jam
or break your thread
then you announce with pride
“et voila!”
escapril 2019 // 12: spring cleaning
it takes two countries
few cities
thirteen houses
fifteen boxes
thirty trash bags
and an infinite repetition of
"do we need this?"
for a soul to grasp the spider web line
between a desire and a necessity.
then a decade teaches the
same soul
sometimes,
spectrums soften
escapril 2019 // 13: celestial bodies
if only
seeing you was as easy as
some nightly glow at your half
reflecting off
a big blazing ball of light on my half
escapril 2019 // 14: make it rhyme
a sonnet-full of embellishments, fake
notions of how lovely you are like some
weather in summer or spring, homemade cake
that tastes like cheap flour and rotten eggs, numb
from clichés, the love songs that never shut
up, posed photos of arms around my waist,
a let-me-take-that gentleness, so what
are you doing? leaving sour aftetaste
in our hearts. no, this sonnet is not for
us. we don’t need guidelines to fall in love,
nor the recipes known to prevent war
(it cannot be all fair in war and love),
so stop. steep in this silence as your hand
finds mine in this complicated quicksand.
escapril 2019 // 15: describe a smell
a dash of prickliness:
prickly, like appa’s beard attacking my forehead as he plants a kiss.
then an overwhelming sense of saltiness:
salty, like that time I accidentally used the spoon side of the seasoning bottle
or tasting my own sweat or tears.
something rotting at slow decay.
fruit flies feast.
my nose shoots me back to
halmoni yelling something in dialect, umma replying.
I stand in the middle of the market square, I’m ten.
they promised me jjajangmyeon,
my nostrils can hold out just a minute more.
escapril 2019 // 16: any dreams?
five—
I was to be a Pokemon trainer by day
and Sailor Moon by night
but adults hung my creativity dry
seven—
a singer-songwriter
but music chose me not
ten—
fashion designer,
draw designs, sew coutures, walk the runway myself
but whispers yelled discouragements
fifteen—
couldn’t care: I was a realistic teen
now—
I tip-toe about my heart
trying my best not to pick on scabs,
unable to answer any questions
albeit an I-don’t-know
has never sounded more
comforting and clear.
hear the wounds heal
to the beat of the unicorn hooves.
escapril 2019 // 17: body as friend or foe
I was born in Guatemala,
but my father’s from Georgia
he’s a musician, he produces
K-pop albums and we travel the world
searching for the next big deal,
my mother paints apples, she’s from Zimbabwe
she also writes Chinese poems.
It’s all true—
my body deceives every bit of reality within me.
escapril 2019 // 18: a happy place
hear nose tickle
with the sound of lavender feathers
fluttering by
eyes will open up to inhale
the golden hours spent
under Your glorious dance
escapril 2019 // 19: without your name, who are you?
if an utterance of a name
can form a heart,
her name has been called by many
if each spoken word forms
a vibration into what we are,
she's a someone
whispered into a myriad of paradoxes:
she's an asteroid, crashing fast,
uncontrollable, unexpected.
she's a cup of tea, calm,
idle, ready for nothing.
escapril 2019 // 20: a liminal space
this amorphous ground feels comfortable,
excuses acceptable:
the excruciating humidity,
drowsy rain, busy friends,
false pride, miscalculating time.
they say:
Prufrock measures his life in coffee spoons,
but Zeno says nothing ever reaches its destinations.
the Knight holds his tongue
yet his heart flutters a violent beat.
I’m just another contra, letting my feet skip away
as each step echoes heart beating somewhere
back.
escapril 2019 // 21: it’s the end of the world
no zombie apocalypse,
the sun still functions,
stars are still, hearts
unbroken, no one
escaping to Mars,
no fatal goodbyes.
one silent pink noise
a purple glow,
“welcome back home”
it said.
escapril 2019 // 22: nourishment
last month, I met a little
potted plant.
I took it back to my little
suffocating room
and named it little
foggy star.
I loved it little
by little
I gave it little
droplets of water,
spoke little
words of compliment,
took it to my little
window sill
the sun peeped through
a little.
it grew a little,
I did too.
escapril 2019 // 23: when the party’s over
recollect spilled laughters —
this, for unworthy jokes,
that, for suave comments,
maybe one for someone dreamy —
bottle them up,
keep them fresh
for the next sea of
stragglers,
mutual someone,
you-look-quite-nice,
wow-so-interesting.
escapril 2019 // 24: liar, liar
how to be a compulsive liar
one: disregard empathy, embrace despondency, think selfish,
my life doesn’t have to tell truth tales, no one needs to know.
two: rehearse recollections, think practicality, use names they’d never check,
let myself believe in each detail, each sight, smell the scenario
three: speak the perfectly fabricated phrases into existence,
no need to bat an eye, stutter a detail, overthink a loophole.
for example: “yeah, the party was fun. we walked around the park afterwards.
who? oh no, he wasn’t there. he had an important family dinner.”
four: remember the lie, inform reliable partners in crime if necessary,
never bring it back, stick to your guns.
promise yourself: they can’t hurt, they’ll never know.
remember: truths hurt, they’re inconvenient, it’s none of their business.
dig: until your shovel breaks.
drown out: every kindness the world has to offer.
die: in the said dug hole, climb out just to
repeat: until trust is a pair of cracked glasses, refuse to see a redemption until
die again: learn that these walls must go —
invite: the uncomfortableness that is vulnerability
repeat: until system reboots.
escapril 2019 // 25: pick an animal
my giraffe friend
shades me when the sun’s high
and warms me when the wind’s rough,
meeting her eyes pains me with
an aching neck,
she will always stand tall in a room,
there’s no shelf too high for me,
when she’s close by.
escapril 2019 // 26: girlhood, boyhood, childhood
when I was older, I had a pair of
very pink sneakers
they'd glitter in the sun,
glamoured in gemstones for dignity
velcros loud enough to turn heads
when it was time to take them off
I glanced over my neighbors' shelves:
ugly. blue. brown. ugly. mine trampled over all.
then my eyes stood silent
as I zone in
on her pair of Gundam sneakers
secretly jealous, mostly confused,
extremely frustrated of rule-breaking
girls, defying pink, watching animation
for boys only
now, I wear boring black or white shoes
so do most humans with feet.
escapril 2019 // 27: the state of it all
“you're it!”
a harmless push from their arms
my chest thrusts back
limbs under a spell
all bones removed
“catch me if you can”
why don't you save me
'cause you can?
escapril 2019 // 28: reflection
memories retraces a blur
crooked smile
red dye fading
cigarette between your fingers
standing mostly on your right leg--
you let out a puff as i tell you “i’m imaginary.”
you say you couldn't have
so i tease you more with a kiss
“that wasn't real
that was you imagining it all
new school
a manic pixie
the loneliness got to your brains
that's all”
you flick away the cigarette
eyes reflecting my face
you kiss me back and say
“please don't do this to my brain
you're real
far too real for me i'm not smart like that”
i snicker
the buzzing bus terminal is real
you and i are real
but i'm not
you're no more
escapril 2019 // 29: may flowers
she died a few days ago—
flew off the rooftop
fallen against teeming
reborn lives
the most beautiful of flowers
only last a day or two
you said we are beautiful
because we’re ephemeral
but what happens when
fleeting moments like
a crash kilometers away
pain for someone I never knew?
escapril 2019 // 30: catharsis
yesterday, I cleaned out my room
bugs infested each and every corner
I tried to catch them but they
hid away between the nooks and crannies
whispering schemes to each other
learning the dustiest corners I’ve ignored
waiting for a perfect time to kill
so I dusted out the corners
rearranged the furnitures
repainted the scratches
thinking cover-ups should make anew
yesterday, I cleaned out my room
praying for the bug spray to kill,
I felt seventeen, rearranging photographs,
filling up a space with desired personalities,
she would have been proud
there’s nothing I’d tell her, but to say
yesterday, I cleaned my room, for another hundredth time
they say an odyssey is a cycle
ending with a catharsis
where you come clean
but yesterday, I cleaned my room
again

Meimiday 2019 Wall of Awesome
GET HYPE!
January 28th is my birthday, dubbed Meimiday several years ago by my friends (I think it was hojo who started it). For those years, I would spend all day watching streams from said friends playing games for my birthday entertainment. Seven years ago, however, when asked what I’d like to see I kinda just went “Why don’t you just beat some games?” and so the festivities truly began. Most of us frequent the Backloggery, so it’s kinda easy to see why it has snowballed~

Smash Ultimate tier list based entirely on which characters I like and which I hate
BSP = Big Sexy Personality
FBNIS = Fun, But Not In Smash
MPATBUD = Mario Princesses Are Terrifying Blow-Up Dolls
S Tier
Kirby: absolutely the man, if you don’t love Kirby you’re probably the asshole who got this roster flooded with Marth World pricks
Pikachu: He quicc. He thicc. He’ll Thunderbolt you to hicc
Except it’s a she because I only ever play Librechu ;p
Bowser: BSP
Zelda: She is so cute, I can finally stand playing as her
Pichu: He is so cute, it almost makes up for how stupid he is
Ganondorf: He’s finally fucking cool. He uses the goddamn sword now
Lucario: What if Mewtwo was a Shaolin monk hunk
I only play purple Lucario for reasons you’re best not knowing
Toon Link: He’s the cartoon that Link and Young Link watched and modeled themselves on
Ridley: HOLY SHIT IT FEELS AWESOME TO PLAY RIDLEY
I love how the game designers know he’s way too small so when you fight him in Classic Mode as Samus he gets Giant modifier
K. Rool: BSP
Piranha Plant: The pain from the pipes, this disrespectful piece of shit is so stupid he wraps around to greatness, with his inclusion I’ve changed my mind and now say fuck it, add Bandana Waddle Dee, hell add a regular Waddle Dee if you want, I don’t even care anymore
A Tier
Luigi: Few people know that he and Mario are actually identical twins, his brother merely wears a fat suit (the weight of which has crushed his spine) so they can be told apart
Ness: I like the picture you get when you play for 20 hours
C. Falcon: This is the guy who beats up Incineroar. As the positive icon of the people he never shows any emotion except for “YUS!” and “SHOW ME”. All Might was probably based on this jackass
Jigglypuff: Like so many other Pokemon, its adorable facade is a veneer for an expansive and unfathomable eldritch demon. The difference is, despite how fucking many Pokemon like that there are, nobody has found Jigglypuff’s secret and lived to tell
Young Link: He’s actually Link’s son, who idolizes his father and wants to follow in his footsteps. His dad has strayed from the path but young blood here carries on the true faith. Also, FBNIS
Mewtwo: He was the original Damn Cool Pokemon. He jockeys with Lucario for that role now but all they ever do is sit there charging their neutral Bs talking about how the planet will explode in 5 minutes
Roy: He knows that the Marth World infestation is soon to be purged, because there are like five actual Marths including him, so he decided to become the best Marth World character so he alone will survive
Pit: The only cunt from his series besides Dark Pit who had the decency not to change voice and try to pretend it was the same fucking one. I never play as him ever but Sakurai sure cared more about making him fresh & fun post-Uprising than any of his other goddamn characters
Charizard: BSP
Dedede: BSP
Bowser Jr.: This rude little shit is the guy who you invite to a party and he brings his whole crew, excuse me no I didn’t invite Wendy and Horton and Lenny and all these bitches, but fuck it y’all cool
Simon: I like his funny walk and he looks like Conan the Barbarian
Richter: I like his funny walk and he looks like a dork
Isabelle: Do you know this literal bitch killed me with a fucking stop sign 3 times before I unlocked her, why isn’t that a reaction macro
Incineroar: He pretends to be a bad guy so that kids’ heroes will beat him up on TV and they will be happy. He is so sweet
B Tier (Everyone Is Meh)
Mario: Meh
Donkey Kong: Meh
Link: The dad who strayed from the path, I really don’t like the Breath of the Wild Link, FBNIS
Fox: Meh
Sheik: Meh
Dr. Meh: Mario
Falco: Hands off my meh
Mehrth: He’s kinda cool but Roy is way cooler
Mr. Game & Watch: What an annoying asshole
Wario: It’s not the cool Wario, it’s the stupid Wario Ware one, and he brings all his obnoxious waifu friends with him. It’s Wario after he retired from his teen Youtube star days at the age of 30 and he’s trying to stay young and cool-looking but his stoner friends keep fucking it up
Solid Snake: Meh, too indirect for me, FBNIS
Squirtle: Meh-est of the Pokemon Trainer trio, he just doesn’t provoke like any reaction from me at all unlike the other two
Diddy Kong: Meh
Olimeh: This is the most boring goddamn character, everything you do you have to pluck fucks
ROB: He barely animates
Villager: I kinda wish Animal Crossing let you be an animal too. The lone human character is really boring
Mega Meh: You got: FBNIS
Little Meh: I dunno I’ve just barely ever played him
Mehninja: Maybe I should actually try playing it once ever
Duck Hunt: If there was a B-and-a-half tier I’d put this one there because you can delay the side-B and set up Snake-level GOTCHA combos, otherwise the novelty wears off fast
Ryu: He is the 2nd-least likeable guy, what a turbo douche
Bayomehtta: She’s rule 63 Dante, her game was always just a DMC ripoff that relied on her tits & ass to differentiate from it
Inkling: I like the yellow hair girl one but I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE CRINGY-ASS ASSIST TROPHY AND WILL ABSOLUTELY UNFAIRLY BLAME THE CHARACTER FOR THIS.
C Tier
Samus: She is the most FBNIS character
Ice Climber: They’re really un-cute and I hate their desync thing
Metaknight: This guy was so much cooler before he talked, or rather, before he screamed AYAYGYGYAYGYAGA
Ike: Marth World has like 2,000 characters ranging from pegasus knights to barbarians to psychic dragon-girl dancers, and yet we keep getting these boring fucking swordsmen
Pokemon Trainer: Get absolutely the fuck out you twerp you don’t even do a goddamn thing and you die the second any one of your THREE fighters is KO’d so you don’t even incorporate the actual spirit of your original character unlike literally everybody else
Venusaur: If I evolved this ugly fucker I would delete my save
Lucas: If I had an Absolutely Gone Machine that could erase anything in the world and delete everyone’s memory that it ever existed so they would shut the fuck up about it, Mother 3 would be precisely the fourth thing I deleted
Robin: Least shitty post-Melee Marth World character but I just haven’t bothered to try it out to see if it’s actually good or not, probably because I’m just too allergic to Marth World by now
Dark Samus: Cool, but why
Daisy: MPATBUD, but this one has the closest thing to a personality. Unfortunately it is a fucking terrible and horrific personality
Zero Suit Samus: hey cool Samus is Barbie now
Ken: Remember how I said Ryu was the 2nd-least likeable? Well here’s Liquid Ryu to seize the coveted spot
Cloud: Yeah hey, let’s take the one Final Fantasy protagonist with like the least connection to Nintendo, no it’s fine, every goddamn Marth World game except the one that justified its worldwide presence has a character in but we’re not gonna use Cecil or Buttz or Terra
Corrin: Any hope this bitch had to go on my “Is a dragon so I like it” list was ruined by how absolutely infuriating it is to fight against Corrin especially that one Spirit match where he spams his INSTANT FINAL SMASH THAT HAS LIKE AN INFINITELY VERTICAL HITBOX fuck this goddamn digimon
D tier
Yoshi: I’ve hated this thing ever since it stopped going BAWONKA WONKA and started going blblblblblbl
add Birdo as an Echo and I might forgive you
Peach: MPATBUD, Peach is usually able to manifest either the behavior of a real person (Paper Mario) or the appearance of one (Smash), but sadly never both, she is doomed to blow-up-dollery forevermore
Sonic: Please add any other Sonic character, any at all, I’ll even take Charmy, I fucking hate Blue Bubsy
Wolf: The only reason he is not the furry-trashiest character in Smash is because Krystal is an AT, this cocksucker deadass awoos
Wii Fit Trainer: Next to her, Mario Princesses almost look human
Rozzalinda: MPATBUD and this one is the worst, far and away the worst Mario Princess, she is the creepiest fucking woman. WHY IS IT THAT NOBODY IN MARIO ACTS LIKE A HUMAN FUCKING BEING EXCEPT THE CHARACTERS WHO AREN’T FUCKING HUMAN. tl;dr the only people who say rosalina is their waifu collect people’s faces
Mii Fighters: you dress them up to make a parody of a character and then never once actually use said parody because they are stupid
Palutena: remember in Uprising how they could make fake Palutenas, this is one of them, they have a fake Viridi too, you know it is because starting in smash 4 it is clearly two different actresses trying way too hard to sound like the old ones and i can’t get over it sorry. (also she plays like shit)
Pac-Man: I only liked him when he was a pizza
Shulk: does he ever shut the fuck up
Lucina: add a red nose and it’s Marth: Tumblr Edition
Chrom: oh fuck off
Robin’s bitchass final smash still calls this clown
even if you use it on Chrom
he is so ashamed of his audacity he fucking fucks himself

POKEMON DIZZY PART 4!!!!!
(Parts 1-3 are here :3)
Tumblr media
With the path south open I bumped my way down to Vermillion and poked around a bunch. Grabbing the Old Rod from this guy made me go back to Cerulean to do the Old Rod quest and I started working on quests in Vermillion as well, lots of back and forth fetch-questy stuff but it felt good
Tumblr media
I also used the PokeRadar to find a Fletchling, which meant this bad boy got me a quest to show off a Water/Fire type AND to trade in Cerulean to grab Bulbasaur! Which I fused with another Fletchling to make Fletchsaur but he was too ugly to put on camera 😔
Tumblr media
Slowper is different though :) He deserves lots of screentime
Tumblr media
And now I'm aboard the S.S. Anne! I did a lot of running around, back to Vermilion and Pewter City and shit for quests before finally making my way here. I cleared out every room I could find in the ship, just kind of grinding my way through guys, and my little waifish trainer is between these two big sailors 😳
Tumblr media
Also this is the Super Nerd who gave me the dome fossil back in Mt. Moon! He gave me the claw fossil this time :)
Tumblr media
Interrupted some Girl Bestie Moments on the expensive cruise ship... 😳
Tumblr media
AND THEN....... IT'S HOUDINI TIME
I love the fact that the rival and most of the gym leaders have really excitable, upbeat looks and Daisy's face is just SHADOWED like there's nothing behind those eyes, Quinn is full puppet-master mode at this point
Tumblr media
AND THEN! An uneventful bit and then I fought Lt. Surge as well! I wish they'd made the trash can buttons a little less shitty but. That is truly the Vermilion Experience, I suppose.
Tumblr media
AND I beat him first try 😎 It helps that I had Bellrow as my ground sweeper but also Polichu came in and did some work too
Tumblr media
From finishing the S.S. Anne I got Cut, and for finishing Lt. Surge's gym I got the ability to use the HM Teleport! Which is just fly! So I've just been bouncing all over the place cutting trees and shit.
First was Pewter City where I got my dome and claw fossils resurrected, AND there was a lady in the back who asked me to help her get some Old Amber in Viridian Forest. It was overrun by Beedrill so we had to take them out 💪😤
Tumblr media
I thought it was funny to see that someone just had a Pokemon named Sandra. :)
Earlier I caught a Buneary through the PokeRadar, and I thought "man that would be a fun Gardevoir fusion, but I'm terrified Lopunny would be too sexy..." But I decided to try anyway, and... my god.
Tumblr media
MY WIFE. QUINN SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL... I considered switching her back, especially because Normal/Fairy is a pretty mid combo and doesn't give any STAB bonuses to Psychic moves but...... I want to keep her for a bit. Aftercare for Daisy's excruciating spider hypno antics
Tumblr media
Also I found an egg in the Dark Cave and when I had it in my party it came up on the Teleport HM quickbar?? I thought that it was maybe an Abra in there but later it hatched into a Machop/Geodude which was lame and I boxed him lmao. Just a glitch I guess
Tumblr media
I WAS TERRIFIED SHE WOULD BE TOO SEXY,,, BUT LOPVOIR IS SO FUCKING MOMMY IT'S UNREAL. SHE'S... SHE'S MY WIFE. MY GIRLFRIEND. MY DOMMY MOMMY-
Tumblr media
It took me a couple tries entering and leaving but I did make it through Dark Cave and made it to Lavender Town! Always loved the aesthetic and the custom music they have for it has a sort of Minecraft-y vibe to it.
Tumblr media
Also this kid said that the odd keystone let him talk to his dead grandma 😨 So I snatched that shit up and I'm gonna make a Spiritomb >:3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Earlier I grabbed the shears outside of Pewter City and I just got the pickaxe as well, which are little HM tools so I don't need to actually have a Pokemon with Cut or Rock Smash. Which is nice!
Also. I'm sorry for who I am as a person but this is kind of a weird kink run. I kind of really enjoy the idea of Daisy as the team's HM slave. Like realistically Quinn is the trainer and Daisy is there as more of a figurehead kind of thing so her being the one to use the HMs is very funny and makes sense to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I played so much blackjack... bro I love blackjack so much, I would absolutely gamble irl if I had any less self-control (the hypno girl has self-control, shocking, I know)
Tumblr media
Took me a little while to grind out all the trainers (because I really like that it gives incentive to fight AS MANY as possible, not just for EXP but for potential trades, gifts, and rematches too!) but I made it to Celadon!
Tumblr media
First I found a DITTO in a trash can!! Incredibly sad but mine now :) I'm gonna have a whole team of Gardevoirs lmao
Tumblr media
I also really like this lady! She just kind of lives alone and has her Pokemon take care of her which I think is really cute.
Daisy 🤝 Her Pokemon Symbiosis
Tumblr media
Also I just wanted to point out the writing in this game. As a creative writing major, I wanted to say that it's really neat what they did! The lore and gameplay interweave and make a lot of sense together, and also like! Writing for small text boxes is HARD. Big studios get around it by just. Making text boxes bigger, or text smaller, but being forced by constraints of an existing engine, and making it flow and feel good and funny and in the spirit of the original games takes some doing, AND it always feels like they inject a bit of their own personal character in as well.
(Like in addition to this funny rat line, there's a couple TV lines where it's like "There's a sitcom playing. The laugh track lets you know it's funny." and "There's a political debate on TV. ...Well it's time to get going!!" and it's always very fun)
Tumblr media
I ended my adventure here at Celadon shopping center and my CURRENT TEAM IS THUS:
Tumblr media
The Growlpix is the only thing that may go, as I may fuse Gardevoir with either an Arcanine or Ninetales depending on how I'm feeling.......
I also wanna start doing more LORE for Daisy and Quinn, like how I did this little lore post about how Daisy looks after the first couple of gyms.
I think maybe after every two gyms, something about Daisy changes to accommodate Quinn. The first two gyms saw Spider Quinn where she was mostly Spinarak and Ariados, and her spider-web puppet strings created psychic scarring along Daisy's arms and fingers to make her look more like a marionette, and I'm thinking perhaps this new bunny look may influence her as well in some way... we shall see.

30 Days of Smash
Tumblr media
On my Twitter i was filling all this in for the last month of hype before Smash Ultimate. It's out tomorrow so I'm gonna post all my answers from Twitter here!
Tumblr media
30 Days Left. Favorite Mario character to play as? BOWSER! He brings the power and I'm all about hitting hard :D I especially love the new dropkick he picked up recently and his changed running animation. He's just fierce! Also, a 10/10 dad
Tumblr media
29 Days Left. Favorite Zelda character to play as? SHEIK! I just think she's awesome. She's a ninja assassin! What's not to like? The new moves she was given too, the bomb and bouncing fish, I enjoy those. Sheik is just cool
Tumblr media
28 Days Left. Favorite Pokemon to play as? That is gonna go to Greninja, no question! Another smash day another ninja, what are the odds haha. completely unexpected Smash 4 newcomer. I got back into Pokemon with X and Y and I love Greninja, he came at a perfect time!
Tumblr media
27 Days Left. Favorite Ultimate Newcomer? Simon Belmont for sure! I'm not super experience in Castlevania, played only a few games but everything about his reveal and just him as a video game character has me super excited to play him!
Tumblr media
26 Days Left. Favorite Echo Fighter? Goin with Dark Samus cause of how unexpected she was. It's super cool that Metroid has gone from having kinda 1 character (as both are indeed samus) to now having 3. That's rad. And Dark Samus, she just looks cool!
Tumblr media
25 Days Left. Favorite Fire Emblem fighter? Easy! It's mah boi the all powerful radiant hero Ike! Brute force is my thing and he has that in spades!
Tumblr media
24 Days Left. Favorite Fighter from another series? Well that'll go to Shulk. He is currently the only Xenoblade rep (hopefully that changes) but he is another fighter I greatly enjoy playing as and he's a great character from one of the best games of all time!
Tumblr media
23 Days Left. Favorite Assist Trophy? THE BLACK KNIGHT! I'm so happy we're finally getting more worthwhile Fire Emblem content. I was super stoked just to see the Killing Edge, but one of Daein's Four Riders? Awesome. And he looks so strong! Is perfect!
Tumblr media
22 Days Left. Most useful or favorite Pokemon in Ultimate? No one of them really sticks out to me as my favorite...a lot are really reliable. Think I'm gonna give it to Keldeo for this one. He has crazy range and he is relentless!
21 Days Left. Favorite stage in Ultimate? There are WAY too many stages to just pick one favorite. I mean, THERE ARE SO MANY! But I remember the Dream Land GBA stage in 3DS and being SO HAPPY to play on it, I'm so ecstatic that its back. That Kirby game was my childhood!
20 Days Left. Favorite Song in the Smash Bros Series? That is a ridiculous question. Nigh impossible to answer. There are a lot of good tunes but Imma take it back to Brawl with the rock awesomeness that is Tabuu's theme!
19 Days Left. Favorite alternate. Again a lot i like but i gotta give it to Mario's stars and stripes. It's just so good XD
18 Days Left. Smash 64 "main" Ah yes. Back in the days when Ocarina of Time dominated my gaming life! The Hero of Time, Link was my go to and to this day he's one I still enjoy playing!
17 Days Left. Melee guy. Well for the gamecube days the character I stuck to the most was still the Hero of Time, Link. No one could really pull me away though I greatly enjoyed Falco and Marth too
16 Days Left. Brawl character I played the most as eh? That was mah boi IKE! To this day I'm so surprised how unsurprised? I was he got into Brawl. I don't remember being super shocked. I got into Fire Emblem prior Brawl and I LOVE Radiance and Dawn. Ike in smash? Rad!
15 days left. My Smash 4 boy is SHULK!! Most wanted newcomer at the time and infinitely happy he's in Smash!! Woooo!
14 Days Left. Least used / most disliked fighter. Jigglypuff easily. There is no valid reason for it to still be here. And when he was revealed, dark pit. Still think he's a dumb addition
13 Days Left. Favorite Final Smash. I'm a giant Xenoblade nerd so the more Xeno the better. And Shulk bringing his crew in for the smackdown is too good!
12 Days Left. Most disliked or least useful Final Smash Peach's simply cause it doesn't do anything. Also Jigglypuff and ice climbers smashes. Just boring really.
11 Days Left. Favorite Smash minigame. Huh. Tough. I always did appreciate the original break the targets and board the platforms. Really challenging stuff!
10 Days Left. Favorite Smash item. The assist trophy. Such a Cool idea bringing in other video game characters for aid. So many cool peeps out there!
9 days left. Character you'd most like as an assist trophy. Never really thought about this. Since we got more FE assist trophies I say Xenoblade. Someone not yet in like Sharla Reyn or Melia
8 Days Left. Character I'd like to see as an echo fighter? No idea. We aren't getting anymore echoes so it doesn't really matter. I got nothing for this. I've failed you all!
7 Days Left. A DLC newcomer I'd want? Easy. Rex and Pyra! On the eve of Xenoblade 2's anniversary! I want the bestest otp of 2017/2018 of the best game of those years. It's that good!
6 Days Left. Who do I expect to play the most as in Smash Ultimate? Most likely Shulk since I'm a Xenoblade obsessed nut and Ike comin in after that cause the Radiant games are the best FE games. MONADO BOI AND HERO OF THE BLUE FLAMES
5 Days Left. Assist trophy I'd like to see as a fighter? That'd be Lyndis. Ever since Brawl where there were only 2 FE peeps s on the roster. She's a great character (betterthanallthe3dtrash) and would actually give some origin variety given again, 4 3ds characters.
4 Days Left. Most unlikely yet desired newcomer? TETRIS! I say it a lot. Very unlikely. Not so much personally desired but i think it'd be really funny in the best way
3 Days Left. Very first Smash Bros memory. I guess that would be just...playing Smash 64 with my sisters. Making up stories going from fight to fight and pretending blue Fox was Falco. It was a simpler time.
2 Days Left. Greatest smash memory? Idk how great but my first 4 man 99 stock smash. I did it on a whim in Smash 64. 4 DKs in kongo jungle. It took forever. But as the lives fell and it narrowed down. I realized how much time i truly spent XD. I've done it in every smash since
ONE. DAY. LEFT. FAVORITE FIGHTER EVER? SHULK! SHULK IS BESTEST!
Smash is tomorrow y'all. Let's all have some fun!

It's a little while since that Smash Direct, right? So while the fire is tepid, time for me to gush about it and share some creative thoughts. First, wanna say that Belmont in Smash is one of the most 'I didn't know how much I wanted it until I saw it' things I've ever experienced. It's such a perfect and direct fit, yet I never really thought about until then. Everything so far has been a complete home run.
People are always talking about what they want for new characters, but I'm more interested right now in stages. There's six empty spots still, yeah? So here's my thoughts for stages. It's at a mix between what's likely and what I'd like to see.
Although, some of these thoughts are mixed with characters or heavily influenced by them. Thoughts on some of those combined within, but in short, my character guesses are Erdrick, Bandana Dee, Ken, and Black Shadow. Ken is the original slightly deviated clone character, and Bandana Dee, well, really underwhelming compared to all other newcomers, but he could be nifty if he used some of Kirby's traditional copy abilities (Cutter, Parasol, Beam, etc.). At any rate:
Ancestral Steppe - (Monster Hunter)
It's pretty plain that this exists, though I imagine the stage version is based on room 4 (the one with the arching bridge that gets knocked down), and not room 3, where the Rathalos boss was shown. Either way, stage'll have some radical music choices. Personally, I'd rather see a stage based on Misty Peaks, with the rope bridge and the watery area below it, but it seems pretty decisive that it'll be Ancestral Steppe. Anyway, yeah. Room with the arch, some Jaggi nip at you sometimes, and Kecha Wacha and Tigrex show up to make everyone miserable.
Monster Hunter isn't a playable character, but rather the Mii variants all have MH outfits; Rathalos for Swordfighter (just like Smash 4), Gore Magala for Brawler (with Gore's Dual Blade claws), and either Zinogre or Lagiacrus for Gunner. And especially for Rathalos, the colour of the Mii shifts more than usual to better match an existing Rath colour; a Yellow Mii would wear a set that looks like Gold Rathian scales and so on.
Mute City Grand Prix - (F-Zero/Star Fox)
This one is based on a small mountain of assumptions, that the rumoured Star Fox Grand Prix is a thing, and that it merges Star Fox and F-Zero more than they already were. And that it gets shown off at the same time at the Tokyo Game Show. Don't actually have anything to say about design of stage, just that it'll end up being another Mute City, because of course it'll be. Why else would the OTHER Mute City stage feel the need to label itself Mute City (SNES)?
Related, Black Shadow'll be around as echo fighter of Captain Falcon, and essentially Melee Ganondorf. If I'm right on the Star Fox thing, I wouldn't be surprised if he's now literally a bull, instead of a bumble-king in bull-shaped spandex. Either way, it'd be weird as hell if after EVERYONE IS HERE there wasn't a time-frozen version of Melee Ganondorf, like how Dr. Mario and Young Link are for pre-Fludd Mario and pre-lots-of-things Link.
Poke Floats 2 - (Pokemon)
They've made updated versions of other stages before, so why not this? The same concept as before, but with new Pokemon.
Dragon Quest III's Pyramid - (Dragon Quest)
Erdrick is just too overwhelmingly popular in Japan to NOT get in. Dragon Quest III still dominates game popularity contests there, 30 years later. It doubly makes sense to expect it, considering every other character added for Ultimate has been from games more popular in America; time for the pendulum to swing back. Dragon Quest is not a series I care about, but I do know about one dungeon and the item within; the Pyramid and the cursed Golden Claw.
So the stage is fairly large, run-of-the-mill egyptian pyramid, with extremely lazy mummies or whatever other DQ enemies were found there walking around, doing so-so damage when they decide to slowly attack.
But the main gimmick is the Golden Claw lying at the base of the Pyramid. It's basically a stronger version of a Beam Saber or Killing Edge, with a few major drawbacks. One, it continually hurts its wearer, like the flowers from Lip's Stick. Second, it can't be dropped, and if destroyed, it'll respawn at the base in 15-20 seconds. Last and most significant, the roaming monsters become hugely aggressive towards the owner of the Golden Claw.
Most of that in reference to how the Golden Claw worked in-game, being strong at that point in game, but cursed so you can't remove it (because that's how curse worked in most old games, which I assume originates from D&D) and causes EVERY step you take with it to cause a random encounter.
Puyo Puyo Tetris - (Tetris)
Asspull of the highest magnitude, but ever since the falling blocks at the end of stage 2-1 from the original Yoshi's Island, I've wanted to see a more extreme version of that.
Stage starts as a flat, final-destination sized platform, but tetris pieces fall continually, becoming permanent objects. The pieces fall pretty slowly, don't rotate, won't poke outside the standard 10 columns, and give a shadow of where they're going to land. If you're stuck under one, you're crushed as an instant KO.
The stage's AI on playing Tetris is pretty awful at it, leaving regular holes, letting blocks stack high, and has no interest in attempting chains. Standard Tetris rules apply; if a row is filled up, it'll explode in a horizontal line of light, likely KO'ing anyone who might connect with it. If the pieces stack too high, all the pieces dissolve, bringing the stage back to its starting position.
If a player is boxed in (not on the two sides though, as you could jump out and climb back up to the fight), a Puyo slime will jump from the background through the hole the player is stuck in and smash them into the sceen, instantly KO'ing them (counting as a self-destruct).
And I guess Arle Nadja is an assist trophy or something. I mean, she beat Bayonetta in the Japanese poll, so, like, yeah.
Yggdrasil Labyrinth - (Etrian Odyssey)
Really though, if there was Atlus content in Smash Ultimate, it'd almost certainly be Jack Frost and some blasted, post-apocalyptic Tokyo, but hey, let me do me for this one.
Based mostly on EO2's Yggdrasil, with some nods to EO4. It'd be a mix of 'touring stages' like Isle Delfino and vertical stages like the nixed Ice Climbers level. It would scroll vertically, but only at sudden increments, with four 'main' screens representing the first four strata. So most of the time would be spent on one of four static areas, but you have to climb yourself to reach the next area (or die if you can't keep up) instead of being picked up by a platform. It isn't infinite scrolling, and they could hide some platforms upon a stage swap, which presumably is what killed the other vertical levels.
After some time in the 4th stratum, Petal Tree Bridge, Yggdrasil will wither and die, plummeting everyone back down (like the transitions in Castle Siege) to the 1st Stratum, Ancient Forest. Worth noting, most of the platforms in the Ancient Forest region are made of stone and not part of Yggdrasil, and thus remain there when you land. After a little bit, a new Yggdrasil sprouts, and the process repeats.
Protector shows up as an assist trophy. She followers her summoner around like an Ice Climber would, and soaks up damage for them until she times out or takes too much and dies. She'd create a visible sphere of protection, but if a player moves too fast or she decides to shield bash a dude, there's room for openings to whack her summoner. I'd love it if Gunner, Landsknecht (EO4's version), and Monk showed up as Mii costumes, but that's probably pushing what's already a pipe dream to beyond the breaking point.

Decided to try my hand at that whole “Most Wanted Characters” thing +stages. Would like to talk about them, but I’ll do that under the cuff.
Sonic was my main back in Brawl, and Greninja was my other main in Smash 4. I really love what they did with Super Sonic’s Final Smash, even if it ends up making him a worse fighter. And I really hope that Greninja turns into Ash Greninja upon his final Smash. I pretty much just mained Sonic because I’m a huge Sonic fan, but I ended up really liking Greninja.
My secondaries could definitely extend to other characters, but I stuck with these three because why not? Really hyped for Pokemon trainer to return, because I felt like that actually made Charizard better. Then again, he keeps Flare Blitz, so how much better he’ll be we’ll see. Shulk’s inclusion also got me into Xenoblade, and I look back and love what they did with him.
Elma is the most likely character to me because of the time frame of the game’s development being back in 2016. Now, granted, I do think that they’re going use the ballot to largely decide the new roster this time around, but I still think Elma has a good chance, just because her game was out in America around the time of development, and out in Japan long before. She’d be really cool to add in, and I think they could get away with using her as a Xenoblade X rep as opposed to just a Xenoblade character. Think like Wario in comparison to Mario.I’m not sure if she’d fit my playstyle, but it’d be amazing to have her.
Shadow is the most likely Echo to me. I’d be totally hype for him as a character. I really just want more Sonic representation in Smash, that’s a big reason why I got Brawl in the first place. (Melee’s roster looked really boring to me as a child)
I more support Lycanroc as an opposition as opposed to supporting him for himself, but I think he’d be pretty cool to have, We have two quadrupedal characters, but neither of them are fast attackers like I’d imagine Lycanroc would be.
Rex and Pyra is the main duo character I want to be in the game, which I’m hoping they got added ate in development. I loved Xenoblade 2, and really want them as playable. I’ve also seen plenty of people say they think Pyra should be a background element like Pokemon trainer, but I disagree. That’d be really lame, even if it is more feasible. No, I want them to be like Ice Climbers, except instead of wanting to desync them, you want to keep them as synced as possible. I know this would do murder on him as a viable character, but I don’t care, gimme my Anti-Ice climber swordsman and his anime waifu. I also really hope that they don’t censor Pyra’s outfit, or if they do, they don’t do it like Tumblr and manage to keep all of the cool pats. Pyra’s weird for me, I don’t register her design as a sexual one for some reason, so all I see when I look at her is a badass adorable design. And nearly every tumblr ”Fix” of the design ruins it in some way or another.
Shantae is also a character I’d love to see. Especially if they took inspiration form her Pirate’s curse incarnation. That one was my personal favorite in terms of design and moveset. keep her dances, obviously, but also include the saber, the gun, , everything like that. out of all the Indie characters who have a shot at the game, she’s probably the biggest, because she’s widely popular in Japan.
Shovel Knight, on the other hand, is a character that needs the Ballot to win. Which I actually think has a decent shot of happening, considering how many people voted for him back during the ballot. Obviously not everyone, but a lot of people did it. So I seriously hope he gets in, he’d be super fun to play as.
Lana and Cia are probably the most “What the fuck” type characters on this list. They’re not a duo or switching characters. They just both use the same moveset and are different skins of each other, ala Olimar and Alph. It’d add a Hyrule Warriors rep, add some female characters, and add in a villain. I think she’d be really fun to play as.
And Malos is just a character that I want mainly as an echo to Shulk. It’d add in a villain and an easy one for Xenoblade.
My Least Wanted newcomers come in two flavors. Waddle Dee and Toad I don’t want in because I feel both franchises are represented well enough, and I feel like it’d just look like they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. I know both characters kinda deserve the right not to be looked at like that, but it really would look like it.
And I kinda hope Decidueye doesn’t get in because everyone’s penciling him in as the “Surefire Pokemon rep.” Part of what made Greninja’s reveal so cool was that we weren’t expecting it. We were expecting Mewtwo, not some random starter pokemon. That’s lightning in a bottle that I don’t think they’d be able to repeat twice. I know he would fit in pretty well, but right now, I’d rather a more out there character form Gen 7.
My stages (Which I added because that’s probably what I’m the most hype for) are simple. Uraya and Primordia for Xenoblade X and 2. The Altar of the Sunne/Moone for Sun and Moon. the other two I more want because I think they’d be really cool for stage hazards.
Imagine a Salmon run stage that starts out as a medium sized stage and all of the Boss Salmonid come in as mini bosses. Nothing too distracting, but something you can take care of. Then the idea of high tide and low tide being incorporated by making the stage a big or small stage would really be cool.
And Metropolis would be amazing because you could have an Infinite Boss fight, or even have the stage take place in Null Space for certain parts. Really, though, I just hope for a Sonic stage that isn’t Green Hill or Chemical Plant.
Thank you, this has been my Ted Talk.

FEATURE: Ojamajo Doremi and the Magic of Children's Animation
Tumblr media
Hello everyone and welcome back to Why It Works. Though there are a lot of interesting anime projects coming down the pipeline, one, in particular, might come as a bit of a surprise. That would be the Ojamajo Doremi revival film, a continuation of a children’s magical girl franchise from 20 years ago, which I’m told will star a trio of Doremi fans who’ve now reached adulthood and are looking back on the magic of their favorite show. We’ve been getting more and more tidbits of info about the film for a while now, and at this point, I can honestly say it’s my most-anticipated upcoming production.
Tumblr media
  All images via Toei
I was actually only recently introduced to Ojamajo Doremi, courtesy of some friends who’d been watching it for years. Though I’ve long appreciated the dramatic flexibility and charming atmosphere of great children’s anime, Doremi still felt like a revelation, in terms of both its beautiful direction and art design, as well as its ability to gracefully explore topics both poignant and frivolous. Ultimately, Doremi’s strengths embody the unique and laudable strengths of children’s animation as a whole, as a vehicle apart from our usual late-night shows. So today, let’s explore those strengths as we tackle the unique appeal of great children’s anime!
First off, though you might naturally assume children’s anime are more simplistic in terms of their characterization and themes than late-night anime, you’d be making a grave mistake by doing so. Children are more thoughtful than you might think; they can handle topics like grief or prejudice or any of life’s other injustices, so long as those topics are handled with care. Some of Ojamajo Doremi’s strongest episodes focus on co-heroine Aiko’s attempts to grapple with her parents’ divorce, culminating in devastating moments of vulnerability for herself and her overwhelmed father. Children’s shows can handle nearly any of the topics you come across in late-night anime and frequently explore them with more nuance and grace than their more ostensibly “adult-oriented” counterparts.
Tumblr media
Part of this comes down to intended audience and authorial perspective. Most of the anime we’re immediately familiar with is designed for teenagers, specifically to echo and validate their view of the world. In light of this, many popular anime are inherently limited in their perspective, because they’re viewing the world through an adolescent’s eyes with an adolescent’s value perspective. There are obvious repercussions of this perspective — the dearth of parental figures, general idiocy of adults, and tendency to frame all problems as solvable by punches — as well as not-so-obvious ones, like the way the base mechanics of daily life, social interaction, and personal responsibility are often considered too “boring” to play a key dramatic role.
In contrast, great media for children is designed to appeal to children, but not to simply reinforce their view of the world — it’s designed to instruct and to help its audience grow. Frequently, this means shows like Ojamajo Doremi will actually be quite harsh on their characters and lead them through difficult circumstances that force them to reevaluate their understanding of the world. With no compunction to flatter its audience, children’s anime is free to speak directly with respect and emphasizing the ostensibly mundane but ultimately critical elements of growing up and coexisting with others.
Tumblr media
As it turns out, children are capable of understanding some really tough topics! Great shows like Ojamajo Doremi sympathize greatly with their protagonists but do not coddle them — they convey their universal human conflicts honestly and demand their protagonists rise to the occasion through personal strength and moral integrity, not physical acrobatics or energy beams. Ultimately, a show’s narrative complexity or darkness of tone has little to do with its maturity or moral complexity, and by presenting difficult conflicts that demand not physical strength but emotional growth, children's anime frequently exhibit a great deal of the latter.
Along with their ability to handle tough topics, children also tend to be amenable to wild shifts in visual style, perhaps even more so than older audiences. As we age, it becomes harder to fully immerse ourselves in media, and disruptions within an aesthetic can easily create a sense of emotional distance, as we’re no longer able to “believe in the reality of the fiction.” Visual continuity becomes more of a requisite over time, in order to lure our increasingly skeptical minds into full emotional engagement with an obvious fiction.
Tumblr media
In contrast, children are perfectly willing to embrace massive visual disruptions, and thus shows like Ojamajo Doremi are absolutely brimming with fun visual experiments, absurd stylistic shifts, and ostentatious creative methods of breaking up the frame. Just look at the early works of Masaaki Yuasa to see how gleefully a great animator can embrace the flexibility of children’s animation and children’s capacity to embrace all manner of visual invention in pursuit of raw emotional expression.
Of course, Yuasa is far from the only great animator to make his mark on children’s anime. In fact, many of the greatest directors and animators in the business succeeded by climbing up the ranks of children’s anime, or are still lending their abilities to dynamic shows like Pretty Cure and Pokemon. Rie Matsumoto first made her mark on Pretty Cure before exploding onto the scene with Kyousogiga and Blood Blockade Battlefront, and Ojamajo Doremi itself has one of the most stacked staff lists of any production in history. Directed by Takuya Igarashi (Sailor Moon, Soul Eater) and Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, Aria), with character designs by Yoshihiko Umakoshi (Mushishi, My Hero Academia), and even a few turns by Mamoru Hosoda. Before discounting a children’s anime, it’d be wise to check and make sure it doesn’t feature a bunch of your favorite artists!
Tumblr media
With all that said, I still feel like I might be burying the lede a bit here. Yes, children's shows are capable of poignant moral complexity, and yes they're often suffused with beautiful contributions by top-tier animators — but ultimately, what might set them apart the most is their sheer joyfulness and willingness to embrace all the happy, incidental experiences of everyday life. Not every story needs to be a tragic or difficult one, and shows like Ojamajo Doremi or Pretty Cure feel uniquely comfortable reveling in pure, honest friendships and the positive experiences that accompany them. Sometimes it's nice just to feel good and spend time with characters who truly appreciate both each other and the infinite potential of the world around them.
All in all, while there are obviously limitations on the sorts of stories you can effectively construct for children, the nature of the industry means children's anime are frequently able to explore tough topics, engage in more wild visual digressions, and employ a sharper tone than more ostensibly “mature” productions. At the same time, shows like Ojamajo Doremi, Pokemon, or Pretty Cure are also warm and joyous experiences, tempering their difficult lessons with a clear love of their cast and embracing the uplifting and community-building potential of animation. There is so much to appreciate in the wide world of children’s anime!

The full section of stars in that space meme ~
Sun: Have you ever had alcohol?
No! And she never plans on having it! Lusamine kind of ruined the whole idea of acting with no restraint on yourself. Perhaps if that didn’t happen she wouldn’t been much more keen on it. This idea that theres a substance out there that can make it so that she doesn’t have the pressures of constantly putting on a face for the world
Sirius: Have you ever failed a class?
Never! Moon is first of all much too keen to learn. She may act like a prim little diva, one of the popular girls on the inside but like even deeper down shes a huge nerd. You cant be a magician and NOT be a huge nerd. The amount of research, creativity, memorization and repetition that goes into her work is pretty nerdy in and off itself. Tbh she could listen to Kiawe go on and on about the technicalities of his work. And a for calem? Even though Mega Evolution isnt her forte she’d listen for HOURS ON END about his research with rapt expression all the while asking questions so she can better understand him and his passion
Rigel: Have you ever gone on a rollercoaster?
’Oh I’m too scare to go on a rollercoaster’ With a shy smile and a wavering gaze, she could make most men melt. Meanwhile she’d laugh behind their back at how easy it was to play to their ego. Though it isn’t due to fear. She’s honestly more afraid of her hair geting messed rather than a fear of heights
Deneb: Have you ever been out of your home country?
Oh She’s only ever been out!! She has very vague memories of her home region by now.  She misses it very much actually and she actually was surprisingly touched when her boyfriend Kiawe went out of his way to make her pastries traditional to her home. Tbh she actually feels really connected to her home region because even though its been years before she last saw it, she feels like the ocean keeps her connected to it. On that note thye ocean is something very near and dear to Moon. She adores going for swims in the ocean even during stormy weather and while she doesnt exactly go out of her way to do so, she wouldnt be peril danger if she were caught out during bad weather.
Arcturus: Have you cried out of something other than sadness?
Of course she has! Theres actually a drabble I was writing for Moon when she sees a magic performance that was just so amazing and beautifully done that she straight up cried. It wasn’t that it was especially flashy. Tbh comparatively her shows looked much flashier and much more complicated but what touches her is that the magician turned what is conceptually simple into an astonishing feat just because he polished it and worked on it for so long that it looked effortless. So what looked like a good moment of entertainment to an audience left Moon stunned and in tears. One of the things that can really amaze moon is just how a couple minute routine on stage can just be the culmination of YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS of work.
Betelgeuse: What’s something you can never forget about?
The feeling of warmth that set in her heart the fist time she fooled a friend with magic. The rush of excitement as all of a sudden that lonely exhange student became the center of attention. Suddenly more and more kids came to check out the different tricks she had to show. If only things had stayed that simple
—-
The sight of hundreds of deceivingly gentle looking beasts. floating above head. Their tendrils waving back and forth. The peaceful sight was offset by the sound of every nihilego in sight making their other worldly screeches that sounded somewhere half between electronic and animal. The voices of hundreds echoed across the cavern walls into a disorienting chorus. That and the sound of Lusamines body melding and stretching to become one with Nihilego. She could never forget it.
Moon fell to the ground hundreds of small cuts bled across her skin. Her clothes long since ruined. It hurt…It Hurt…. It hurt… It was too much. Where was Looker? Where was Annabel? “Moon!’ A familiar electronic voice screamed her name as she fell into unconsciousness. The last thing she remembered was the sight of a single orange diamond shaped pokemon standing defiantly in front of he wounded form. Followed by several other flashes of light. Her entire team stood before her with Rotom, outside of its dex, in the forefront. No…she had to protect them…had to
The sight of Lilly looking up at the clouds, in her Z-powered form as she recalled a time long passed. Her story both a recollection and a wish. A wish that perhaps one day she could somehow recreate those kinder days. And then the bombshell. Words of gratitude that shook Moon to her very core. The shame that washed over her for having deceived someone so kind and strong. Words hammered in her chest. ‘I love you’. Words that, only with her years of practiced restraint, she was able to withhold. ‘I love you’. The thought repeated in her mind with each shockingly loud heart beat. Each time making it harder and harder to hold back tears, the reason and source behind them a mystery to her. And then Lilly started a sentence. One that Moon both desperately wished she would finish and yet was infinitely more grateful that she never did. Because if she had, Moon honestly wondered if she would’ve been able to let her go.
‘I…’ The moment in which Lilly trailed off felt like an eternity
. Moon didn’t deserve Lilly. She knew that. She had lied to her too many times. And besides while Moon was undoubtedly in love with Lilly.
The girl Lilly loved didn’t exist.
Aldebaran: What’s something you care desperately about?
Calem, Kiawe, Rhubarb, Lilly., Magic, Alola, science, dance, music, the ocean swimming. Moon feels like she’s someone who doesn’t care about anything], that everything she does it all for the purpose of creating her mask. She just has a hard time because most of the things that fit this fake personality she has are also things that she does genuinely like so it’s hard for her to distinguish the two.
Canopus: Have you ever broken a bone?
Of course she has! With some of her biggest passions being magic and a side interest in aerial dance she cant possibly not have broken bones. She’s also gotten her fair share of injuries on her original adventure!
Bellatrix: Have you ever been forced to lie/keep a secret?
The secret of UBs. Even though it was such a traumatizing experience for her, even though she faced trauma after trauma for the pure sake of keeping her region safe, no one can ever know. Everything she went through will remain uknown to the public and while this doesn’t bother her as much. It becomes much more complicated when she has an SO who didn’t experience the UBs with her. Its both something she doesnt want to talk about and something the interpol refuses let her disclose to anyone. Though in a relationship especially with Calem, she just doens’t want to lie anymore so she defs tells him when the time is right.
Alphard: Have you ever lost a friend?
Umm lol sorry this is just a short answer. Uh…no. Lol. She hasn’t
Vega: What’s something you’ve done that you wish you hadn’t?
Another short answer unfortunately but Moon moon doesn’t really regret anything. She looks back at the person shes become and it’s just. she can’t think of changing one thing from her past without getting rid of something else really important to her. If she never put on a mask, consequently she wouldn’ve never started magic. If she never met Lilly, Alola wouldve actually crashed and burned. and maybe the whole world if UBs were allowed to exist. Annabel for sure would be dead.  So, unfortuantely, she can’t say she’d change a thing even if she wants to.

Gladion X Reader: Gods
Masterlist
Prompt: Reader is a pained god, Gladion is her boyfriend.
Warnings: Meh. Mentions of torture.
Author: Lotus
You were swimming in black, a few silvery threads stretching towards you from the infinite emptiness. Each one whispered. Not exactly to you. To Arceus.
You were Arceus now, weren't you? To a degree, you were. You weren't sure at this point.
"(Y/N)!" Gladion's voice screamed from a thread of fiery gold, harsh and bright compared to the gentle silver whispering. "(Y/N)! Come on, get up!"
You reached for it. As you touched it, the fiery light enveloped you.
You were back in the Aether lab, where they'd fused you with Arceus. With a god.
You felt powerful, yet weak. Whispers from every corner asked one thing or another of you. Prayers to Arceus. But you were Arceus now.
"(Y/N)! Are you all right?"
"I..." you hesitated, unsure of what to say. A voice slashing through your mind seemed to escape your lips also, an echoing, resounding screech: "I AM A GOD."
Gladion seemed to shrink back. You stared at him, feeling Arceus' power surging through you, feeling your own fear. You weren't a god, you were a human, a human...
"Please..." you breathed.
You blinked. You felt power, but at its core, you felt pain. Despair. Weakness.
Arceus was a god. Gods live by being believed in.
He was losing belief. In turn, you were losing belief.
This is what happens when humans play god.
You were almost positive that was Arceus. His voice. His lingering presence, before he left you to figure out being a god yourself, without his help, without his guidance.
So you took the opportunity to speak with the Alpha Pokémon.
You were back in the black. This time, the god you'd been dudes with was there too.
"What will happen to me if I have no believers?" you demanded.
Arceus' voice was metallic and harsh yet somehow soothing when he spoke. "You will fade. You just won't exist."
You were snapped back to reality, to Gladion's desperate face. You smiled. While you had time, you wanted to be with him.
***
Everything burned. You could feel yourself disappearing, holes appearing in your body and going away as you fought to stay real.
You weren't believed in.
"(Y/N)?"
Gladion was your boyfriend now. You met his green eyes for a moment before your form flickered and burned again.
You were a fire being battered by the wind. Flickering and fading, but never quite dying.
"I'm a god, Gladion," you shrugged. "I have been since Aether experimented with me and Arceus. No one believes in me anymore. I'm dying, Gladion, and IT HURTS LIKE HELL."
Your voice was the same screech it had been when you'd first spoken after you came to in the Aether lab.
"(Y/N)..." Gladion's voice faltered, before he lay a hand on your hand.
It felt reassuringly solid. You stared into his eyes, the pain you felt almost tearing them away but you refused to look away from him. He was so real.
"I believe in you, (Y/N). I always will."
You couldn't take on a human form anymore. It hurt.
The flame snapped in the wind, fought back, stayed there as a smaller fire than before.
You were a Pokemon.
A Taillow, but pure white rather than the normal colours.
"I believe in you too," you whispered.
"(Y/N)..."
"Look, I'm a god. Gods are weird. I can't manage a human, this is the best I can do. Please, just... take care of me, okay?"
Gladion nodded, watching you fly to his shoulder.
"I'll do that no matter what form you take."

Forza Horizon 3 (Xbox One, 2016) 91 49. Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers (PC, 2019) 91 50. Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch, 2019) Richie:  I LIEK THE DUBBLE ONES! The Last of Us x2 Divinity: Original Sin II x2 Play count: 16 off that list, that's also eight twentyfifths, which is roughly how much of my massive dick your mom can take. Cunzy: Now, we all know the issues with a crowd sourced list. It's dumb. It's like putting together a list of best fruit, or favourite socks. However, every now and then it's useful to pull the wang out to measure it against the communities' wang and see just how weird and misshapen our is (we share genital appendages) by comparison. Play count: 9! What an alternative darling I am! Richie: I mean they are great, and you know they will be, but you have to draw the line somewhere, So you have to choose and say, "Nah I wont play this", better the time sink you know, right? And you choose your reasons, you skim an article, and find the thing that is slightly wrong and then activate your inner drama queen to say "OMG that is not a game I want to play I cant believe they dont have Fred Durst doing the voice of the main character" or something equally nuts. And there is plenty of them on that list that I simply refuse to play for these reasons. And I guess that's fine? Time is finite, I cant go back ten years and play all of the PS3 games I never played? Can I? Cunzy: GUILTY CONFESSIONS, A.K.A those games you know are great but just never got around to: Mario Odyssey, LoZ (the whole franchise), Red Dead (series), Mass Effect (series), Persona (series), Divinity (series), Souls (series)... where do I hand my gamer card back? Richie: Also Overwatch... Do people actually play it, or is that there just because people fiddle with their genitalia to fund cosplay camgirls? Cunzy: Yes, watch me throat this widowmaker dildo on my stream now. Richie: So do we disagree with this list? Well, to be fucking honest I'm not going to research it myself, I'm not sure I have played much more than 50 games this year, as far as i can recall, I played a lot of Diablo 3 and Fallout/Skyrim... but yeah I'm sure the above is good... Actually fuck that, Games of the decade for me are... Every iteration of pokemon that came out in the last 10 years, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Black/White, Sword/Shield, Flaps/Scrotum. Skyrim SNOW VIKING DRAGON SHOUTING Animal Crossing, Shake the tree for Nook. Lego Everything, play, collect, repeat Hyperdimensions Neptunia. Ultra Japanese anthropomorphised consoles as Anime girls. Vert is best Waifu.  Fallouts So many plus expansions, Chandler as a bad guy is special.  Diablo 3, Clicky loot loot  WoW Classic, because...  FFXIII-2, Timetravel-bocolina  Tomodatchi Life, Make your friends on the DS into miis, interact with them, cry alone at night Smash Bros. Repeatedly main Peach till she becomes top tier, yaay Jackbox games, All Gems, probably the best multiplayer gaming actually this decade.  Doki Doki Literature Club, MO-NI-KA Batmanzes, grapple glide Southparkgames, play the stories you have watched and add a weak RPG element. Dragon Ages-s, Way better than mass effect Every Naruto game. Like lego, but with anime ninjas Barrel Scrape: the game, where you frantically look at your steam collection for the games you have most played, and check the dates of your 360 games to see if they fall into this category I played 18 games it seems? Cunzy: *gasps for air*, wipes synthetic jizz from Lollipop Chainsaw skirt. Ten years is a long time. Here's my top 18 games of the decade. Silent Hill Shattered Memories 2010 Silent Hill without the combat and all the more psychologically chilling because of it. Great setting, theme and story. One I regularly come back to and still brick myself.  Endless Ocean 2 2010 Expanding on the first one in every way, shame there aren't more nature lovin' games in this ilk.  Monster Hunter Tri 2010 The only one in the series to have kept my attention despite it being the 'wrong one' according to many in the MH community.  Lost Planet 2 2010 Probably one of the games with the most comprehensive couch co-op mode and ridiculous bosses to team up against. Absolutely bonkers story, giant monsters and jetpacks. What more do you need? Dead Rising 2 2010 I wasn't too bothered with DR3 and DR4 despite absolutely loving the first game. They seem to have crossed the line between goofy but po-faced and just silly apocalypse zombie killing. DR2 arguably gives you a playground more memorable than Willamette and stays on the 'serious' side.  Dead Space 2 2011 One of my favourite gaming franchises I think, excellently built world that is complemented by the tie in anime, comics and spin-off games.   Resident Evil Revelations 2012 It was a good decade for Resident Evil with almost every game seeing multiple ports, re-releases and remasters. It's a close call between Resident Evil 2 and Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS for my favourite of the decade but this one really got it's biohazardous talons-with-eyes into us especially raid mode. Revelations 2 is fantastic co-op but the raid mode side of things isn't as fluid as the original Revelations. Criminally, aside from a brief VR foray into Resident Evil 7, we errr didn't play it.  The Last Story 2012 Oh, I fell in love with this game and despite the small geography of Lazulis City it felt like a living city with many surprises tucked away. Great soundtrack to boot.  Fire Emblem Awakening 2013 Another series that had a rock solid decade starting with Awakening then the rest of the 3DS trilogy, an excellent Warriors game and even Heroes wasn't too bad. Although Fire Emblem Three Houses is the superior game, it's the cast and the support system pioneered by Awakening that has this in my top 18.  Tomb Raider 2013 Sometimes the context in which you play a game is as important as the game itself. A weekend in 2013 with fellow Tomb Raider fans blasting through this excellent and long awaited reboot is fondly remembered. Last of Us 2013 It's hard to put a finger on just one thing that makes this game phenomenal but there's not been much like it since.  LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2013 There were some great LEGO games this decade from opposites LEGO Worlds and LEGO Dimensions to movie tie-ins and a strong series of games based on the Marvel and DC comics. The Marvel trilogy in particular was outstanding.  Everyone's Gone to the Rapture 2015 With age, the more energetic games can leave me wheezing with exhaustion just thinking about playing them and EGttR is a perfect respite from the shootbang games. Honestly, I'd be keen to play more games just like this. The English countryside setting in particular made it extra special.  Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2017 Honestly, who actually puts Mario Kart on their top games list? Well thinking about it and looking at play records it's probably the perfect couch multiplayer game but with a real challenging depth to those looking to break records and get a hold of those elusive gold kart components.  Splatoon 2 2017 Cheating slightly here by including Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion as one entry. I'm really not a huge fan of the central competitive gameplay of Splatoon, although I've put in the hours, but the single player side of things are a worthy first person puzzler(?) in their own right.  Into the Breach 2018 When the options paralysis sets in, which is often, I just spin up Into the Breach. Three hours and a few runs later I'll question why I don't play this game even more often. Hundreds of hours in and still challenges to do, runs to try.  Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 2018 Part game, part nerdy love letter to gaming, part video game museum.  Pokemon Sword and Shield 2019 Okay as Richie pointed above any of the pokemon mainline series could have filled this slot but the last one makes most sense. Twas also a good decade for the spinoffs. I enjoyed Pokemon Conquest a huge deal, put an embarrassing amount of time into Quest as well as Picross, Rumble, Duel, Go and mystery dungeons.  And there we have it, lists, we'll be back at some point in the future with more lists, perhaps with a list spanning the last 2 decades, to present you with our Game of the Century (spoilers, it's SSX Tricky). Also if anyone has a word to describe my above rant about the act of proactively dismissing something despite knowing it will be good to avoid committing to the time sink, please let me know. We live in a time of labels, there must be a word for this! Love and where do you even start with persona! Richie + Cunzy X

Vote for Readers Choice & GOTY Nominations
December 16, 2019 9:16 AM EST
DualShockers’ Game of the Year 2019 is upon us. Check our nominations and vote for your favorite games in 2019.
Welcome back, everyone! This is resident DualShockers Editor-in-Chief, Lou Contaldi, and it is time for the annual bloodbath… err– celebrating the best and the brightest of gaming in 2019!
While it is tradition to hold a separate poll for Readers’ Choice for both Game of the Year 2019 and Most Anticipated Game of 2020, we are spicing things up with a few new ways this year: announcing our nominations for each category and giving you a way to participate in the DS staff polls.
Vote for Readers’ Choice 2019 Awards:
Without question, our community is the best part of DualShockers, so we (and the developers and publishers we chat to) know that the Reader’s Choice Award is one of the best annual honors to win. And, as always we are looking for your help in making that selection in one of gaming’s busiest years.
You’re given the ability to change your vote at any time before the cutoff time, which will be December 22nd, at 11:59:59 PM Pacific Time. People change their mind all the time, so we don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be able to change your vote here.
Below, you’ll find a form to vote for your favorite game (you can find it here if you are on mobile). In order to limit spam and vote manipulation, you’ll be asked to log in to a google account if you aren’t already. If you don’t have one, making it is pretty easy and very quick.
In order to be eligible for Game of the Year, a game needs to have been released for the first time (unless it’s a remaster/remake) between December 10th, 2018 and December 15th, 2019. Expansions are not eligible. Early Access games that have moved out of early access this year (for instance Dead Cells) are considered 2019 releases.
While we love Japanese games, only releases in the West are eligible (to avoid games appearing for two years in a row). For instance. it wouldn’t make sense to ask you to vote for Persona 5: The Royal as Game of The Year, since most of you will play the Western version (Persona 5: Royal) in 2020. You’ll be able to vote for it in our Most Anticipated Game of 2020 – Reader’s Choice Award.
Asian market releases in English have been included where appropriate in case a western release is confirmed as not happening, or extremely unlikely.
As you’ll probably notice, the list is very long — though sorted alphabetically. While other outlets give you a narrowed down list for Game of the Year, we think it is better that all voices get heard — even niche games that may be ignored. If you notice a game is missing that you wanted to vote on, go ahead and let us know in the comment section and we will add it on.
You’ll also notice that there are plenty of games that didn’t review very well on the list. It’s not our place to tell you what you should or shouldn’t like. Yet, we apologize if we missed or forgot games that you might love. After all, we’re only human.
So, what are you waiting for? Get voting, and feel free to let us know your favorites in the comments:

DualShockers 2019 GotY Award Nominations and Vote
Now here comes the new part: not only will we be sharing our nominees for each category ahead of the vote, we want you all to be part of the decision-making.
Following a multi-week process of narrowing down on our nomination pool with both the DualShockers Staff and our Discord community, we have a tighter list of the games we are voting for in each category. Starting today, we will be tallying votes from both Staff and the Community. Each DualShockers Staff member will have one vote; comparatively, the Community will get a 10% stake in the final totals (at 3 points) for all of their leading contenders. No game will win without a clear majority (50.1%).
Voting cut-off for this initial vote is Wednesday, December 18 at 11:59:59 PM Pacific. In the instance that there is no clear majority (which will most certainly be the case), there will be a series of run-off elections happening exclusively on the DualShockers Discord! You can join those conversations by heading here: https://discord.gg/uKFUAxp
