A debilitating parasite that causes a fatal disease in fish has been confirmed in British Columbia for the first time, four months after a suspected case in the Rockies caused several bodies of water to be closed. Emerald Lake and several nearby lakes in B.C.'s Yoho National Park, roughly 175 kilometres northwest of Calgary, were shuttered after a suspected case of whirling disease was found last September. Parks Canada said on Friday that further testing confirmed the presence of whirling disease in Emerald Lake. It also confirmed the disease had spread to bodies of water in the Kootenay River watershed.

Urgent action is required to better understand and more effectively manage drought risk to reduce the devastating toll on human lives and livelihoods, and ecosystems.

Official high-level launch of the Global Assessment Report for Disaster Risk Reduction Special Report on Drought 2021 (GAR SRD2021)

Droughts have deep, widespread and underestimated impacts on societies, ecosystems, and economies. They incur costs that are borne disproportionately by the most vulnerable people. As we move towards a 2˚C warmer world, urgent action is required to better understand and more effectively manage drought risk to reduce the devastating toll on human lives and livelihoods, and ecosystems.

The GAR Special Report on Drought 2021 explores the systemic nature of drought and its impacts on achievement of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the SDGs and human and ecosystems health and wellbeing.

The GAR Special Report on Drought 2021 will be launched on 17 June 2021, the World Day for Combating Desertification and Drought in conjunction with the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.

I've been weeding the garden for the last 2 days and my hands look sooo nasty, I maybe should have been wearing gloves. Not only I managed to get dirt stuck so badly under a fingernail that my entire finger got inflamed and upset, but parts of my hands are now permanently black, cannot wash it off, and the skin around my nails is torn, inflamed and messed up, some of it is bleeding.

However I am very satisfied with my work, strawberries are free of weeds and flowering, some tomatoes are transplanted outside, I have space to plant the peas, potatoes have started coming out of the soil, my hands will just have to get over this and grow thicker skin hehehe.

#i'm looking at my hands like #what happened to you #but it was just clayish soil #because i failed to take care of the garden last year #due to very bad mental health #there was so many worms though #and i have seen and touched so many weird bugs!#so basically the ecosystem is thriving #it was just very overgrown #and i can't have that because the wild plants are leeching all the nitrogen from the soil #but now they're all being composted #and will return the nitrogen #it will all be well

#hehe im just curious :3 #also wanted to actually list out all my special interests since i forget them frequently >_<#theres a lot of them and i tend to go through phases almost where im more or less intrested in certain things #it depends on how available new information is to me and also how my mental health is #since i kind of dont engage in my special interests when depressed #also if you're wondering how one person can have so many its because a lot of the intrests are connected in my mind #but not necessarily to other people #like my intrest in cartoon is related heavily to my intrest in animation #and my intrest in physcology has a lot to do with my intrests in medicine and horror #my intrests in language and music are also very connected since i love to write and analyze lyrics especially #and then botany and animals is connected because i find the ecosystems particularly fascinating #weirdly the cartoons are also related to physcology actually. actually nevermind its all related to physcology #just. physcology <3

It was developed in the early 20th century by Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher and scientist.

Biodynamic farming incorporates several unique practices, such as using specific preparations made from herbs, minerals, and animal manure to enhance soil fertility and plant health.

Biodynamic agriculture stems from Steiner's spiritual philosophy, Anthroposophy. Steiner believed that there are spiritual dimensions to nature, and by aligning with cosmic forces and understanding the interdependence of the spiritual and physical realms, farmers can optimize agricultural practices.

Biodynamic agriculture goes beyond the mechanics of conventional farming and takes into consideration the spiritual aspects of nature and the cosmos. A farm is a living organism and that its health is interconnected with larger cosmic rhythms and spiritual forces.

no shaders for these screenshots because my poor laptop was having a terrible time just trying to play on the server today (i think part of it was because because there were people out exploring the end, since that just opened up yesterday) but there's the mostly finished bedroom and the beginnings of the actual house! i have it divided into two sections: the main "cozy" house part and the library tower which i'm still trying to decide how i want to look. dont mind the chests and crafting stations those are just There because i didn't want to take them down yet lol
