Wrong On The Money (26)
part 26 of ?? | 930 words | Teen+
Blackmail fic on Ao3 | on tumblr
Summary:
Eddie pretends to be asleep while Lucas is there, and of course a paladin’s first questions on waking would be to make sure everyone else is okay. Their entire conversation makes him feel like a cockroach.
I have, let's see... about 17k total of this written, and about 14k of it posted so far. I'm also on a work trip for the next couple days, so I'm going to focus on writing for a bit rather than posting. Honestly, I didn't expect this concept to take off the way it did? But I'm bad at keeping things short these days, so I'm not sure what I expected.
Anyway, please enjoy more of these two dummies working out their shit and I'll see y'all again on Thursday. ❤️
26.
Eddie pretends to be asleep while Lucas is there, and of course a paladin’s first questions on waking would be to make sure everyone else is okay.
Their entire conversation makes him feel like a cockroach. But as much as he wishes he could slip off the bed and skitter away to lurk in a basement or something, he’d promised he would talk to Steve. Wayne isn’t often serious enough about something to ask for his word, but when he does, Eddie knows he means it.
So he waits until Lucas leaves, and a while longer to give Steve a moment. When he chances a look over, Steve catches the movement and jerks a hand away from where he'd been wiping his face.
“Hey there,” Eddie mumbles, already feeling like this is off to a bad start.
Steve blinks back at him with puffy, bloodshot eyes. “Hey.”
Even in a fucking hospital gown and with unwashed hair falling lank and greasy across his forehead, he still manages to look handsome. It should be illegal. It makes Eddie want to cradle his face in both hands and ask him where it hurts, but cockroaches don't have hands.
“So I, uh.” He can feel his face heating up. “I hear I owe you my life.”
The wince that flashes across Steve’s face is immediate . “You don’t. . . . You don’t owe me, man. It’s—I mean, does Dustin owe you?”
No. He probably owes Dustin, actually, for almost dying in his arms and traumatizing the shit out of him. But that’s not the point, and not something he wants to say to Steve right now, in this context.
“I started this wrong,” Eddie decides out loud. “Be kind, rewind?”
Steve raises both eyebrows at him. “In my experience, most people don’t,” he says, so deadpan that Eddie can’t contain a snort.
And then he realizes, and it’s enough to shock a low laugh out of him.
“Oh, man, you are good.” Eddie twirls some of his hair around a finger, pulling it across his mouth, and shakes his head in a kind of awe. “Do you even realize you’re doing it?”
“. . . What?”
With effort, Eddie reaches the controls for the bed, slowly elevating his upper half, because it’s the closest he can get to turning to face the guy. “Deflecting. Not answering questions. Changing the subject. Call it what you will; as a practiced dissembler myself, I know it when I see it.” (. . . Eventually.)
Steve doesn’t answer right away. He looks down and plucks at his hospital gown as though only just noticing he’s wearing it, making a face. Careful and slow, he reaches for his own sides, feeling over where Eddie knows the bandages must be.
Watching, Eddie frowns. He wonders if the fever from the infection is spiking again, because Steve seems so distant all of a sudden. Should he call for a nurse or something?
Finally—“You guys needed that money more than I did, so don’t worry about it.”
The words come out sounding rushed and defensive, almost angry. Eddie doesn’t quite buy it, though. It’s like something is simmering underneath Steve’s skin, his whole body trembling as he continues.
“I gave it to you because I decided to,” Steve says. “It’s yours, end of story.”
“That’s. . . .” Eddie frowns, stomach plummeting. With Steve not looking at him, he can’t tell how he means it—and pity is better than feeling like a shitty person, but it isn’t great. “So. . . ." Mentally, he takes one step and there conclusions are. "So that was, what, charity? You heard about the Munsons’ terrible situation and decided to be the hero?”
This was why he had never intended to tell anyone, it had slipped out during Hellfire at the tail end of a long and horrible day. While at first Dustin caring so much had seemed touching, now occurs to him that maybe the kid just felt bad for him.
There’s a difference.
Poor Eddie Munson, in the sense of both luck and socio-economic status; it’s a shame about what’s left of his family. Better save those financially irresponsible incompetents from their problems, because no way Eddie the Freak can pay the bills when he can't even pass high school.
And shit, the idea stings more than it has any reason to, but what else is he supposed to think? What the hell other motivation could Steve Harrington have? If there’s anything Eddie has learned lately, it’s that Steve is a better person than he is. It’s not an accusation to call someone on their superiority when they clearly are better—
“No,” Steve insists, so forceful that it interrupts the runaway train of thought. His eyes finally snap up to Eddie’s. “What the hell, man, you think I care about that bullshit? Your uncle would’ve died without that money. I obviously didn’t die without it. I didn’t want to just let someone die, I’m not that guy anymore!”
. . . Anymore?
Steve’s eyes, Eddie realizes, are wide and fervent. Paladin, he remembers, and there’s that awful cockroach feeling again. Steve is breathing too fast. He looks like a little kid adrift alone at the county fair, trying to find his parents but scared he’s going to get in trouble for getting lost.
Eddie, his flash flood of self-conscious anger draining away as swiftly as it had come, has no idea what to do after stumbling onto a trauma land mine.Three years. Three years of this Upside Down shit and life-or-death responsibility on Steve's shoulders, and Eddie has already made a mess of things again in under three minutes.

Steve wakes up to a beeping noise- a heart monitor. He struggles to open his eyes, turning to squint around the hospital room. Something about it feels off, though he can’t tell what.
A woman stumbles in, almost spilling her coffee. She looks familiar.
“Hey,” Steve tries, only to end up coughing. His throat is painfully dry.
“Steve!” She exclaims. She hurries over, swapping the coffee for a plastic cup of water. She carefully holds it to his mouth for him to drink. “You have no idea how happy I am to see you awake! I know we can’t talk here but… fuck, man, you really had us scared for a minute. Promise me you won’t do anything like that again!”
“I promise?”
“Oh! Eddie finally woke up too! Just the other week. He keeps asking about you, I should go-”
Steve is only more confused. There’s only one Eddie he knows and that Eddie wouldn’t be caught dead worrying about someone like Steve. Not unless...
“Munson?”
“Duh. Oh! Nancy! I was supposed to- you’re ok, right? I’ll just be a minute!”
“Yeah, sure.”
She throws him a thumbs up, darting out the room, calling for Nancy.
His head throbs. He’s not sure what is going on, what happened… maybe that thing in the Byers house did get him after all? Maybe this is just a dream.
"Ah, Mr Harrington," a nurse greets with a warm smile. "It's good to see you awake. I'm just going to check your vitals and all of that stuff, then we'll need to go over some questions. Does that sound alright?"
"Questions?"
"You've been asleep for a few weeks. We need to make sure that everything up there is ok." She lightly raps her knuckles on the side of her head.
Despite how light she's trying to be, Steve feels a sinking in his stomach.
"Is that possible? What- what could be wrong?"
"Nothing too serious. You're speech is clear and legible, you're conscious and cognitive." She lifts the clipboard off the end of the hospital bed. "You remember your name?"
"Yeah," he says. After a moment, he realizes; "oh! Right, sorry. Steve Harrington."
"Date of birth?"
"April 29th, 1967."
"Do you know what todays date is?"
"Um... how long have I been out? You said a few weeks, right?"
"Almost three weeks, yes."
"Three weeks, so that would make today... December 4th?"
She doesn't respond for a moment. The way she keeps her eyes on the clipboard feels too calculated.
"The year?"
"Uh... 1983?"
She only pauses for a moment, before continuing to ask simple questions about current events, how he's feeling, where he feels any pain or discomfort.
He lies when she asks if he remembers what caused him to be hospitalized. He's not sure what the story Nancy and Byers will give. He can't imagine people... involved, would want the truth out. And he's not willing to risk whatever consequences will come with that.
"I'm going to talk with your doctor," she finally says. "I'll be one minute."
"Wait! What- am I ok?"
"Your doctor will explain everything, don't worry."
Amnesia, his doctor explains.
Three years of his life, gone. They try to reassure him, say that it's still early days and he could completely regain his memory, no problem.
But they don't know. Not really. It's all 'possibly's, and 'maybe's. No guarentee. There's still a chance that he may never remember.
The woman who ran in when he woke up, sat by his bedside and holding his hand in a death grip, doesn't look anymore reassured by their optimism than he is.
"We're... close?" He asks her.
"Yeah," she says, forcing a smile. "Platonic soulmates. It's, um... Robin, by the way. Robin Buckley."
"Do we have that... Mrs Click, you sit behind me, right?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I did." She looks stunned, almost dazed. "I didn't think you remembered, or even noticed me."
"How could I not? You're hilarious!"
"What? We never-"
"Oh, uh, you're muttering. Behind me. It wasn't exactly, um... quiet."
"Oh my god," she slaps a hand to her mouth, eyes wide. "You heard me talk about you!"
"Yeah, like I said; you're funny."
Luckily, someone else bursts into the room, interrupting whatever epiphany Robin is having.
"Steve!" He yells.
The guy looks like a kid, barely out of middle school. But he rushes to Steve, eyeing him up like he's Steves babysitter.
"Uh, hi?"
"Oh no," is the kids response. He turns to Robin. "How much does he remember?"
"He is right here, you know."
"I think some time in 83?" Robin replies, ignoring him.
"Before or after the whole... uh..." He glances at Steve with suspicion, then pointedly to the door.
"Jesus," Steve mutters, rubbing at the crease between his brows. "Did Nancy and Jonathan tell you, or what?"
"Tell us about... what?"
He rolls his eyes at them, pointing to the kid. "Whatever has short stack paranoid. The thing with the-" he flops one hand around, raised towards the ceiling, "the lights."
"Do you remember anything that happened after that?" The kid quickly asks. "At the hospital, and Will?"
"You mean the Byers kid? Isn't he, like... dead?"
"So you... don't remember me."
"Sorry?"
"It's fine," he lies.
Steve hates how sad the kid sounds. He glances between the two of them, both seemingly wallowing quietly about the situation.
"Which room is Munson in?" He asks, breaking the silence.
"What?" The kid frowns. "Eddie? Why?"
"Which room?"
"He's two doors down to the left," Robin answers. "Why- woah! Don't get up! You're still-"
"I'm fine," Steve gently pushes her away, ignoring both of them trying to plead for him to get back into bed.
Despite the bandages, bruises and sick look to him, Munson somehow looks better than Steve remembers him looking. The longer hair definitely suits him.
"Steve?" He frowns. He tries to sit up but, grimacing, he soon stops. "What the hell are you doing up? You're gonna freak Dustin out."
"Dustin? That the kid?" He asks, grunting as he sits on the edge of his bed.
"What do-" he pauses, expressions slowly twisting with the horror and realization. "Yeah. Yeah, man, Dustin is the kid."
"Right. So... um... we're friends now?"
Eddie winces. "We haven't exactly had time to talk about... that."
"What? It's been years!"
"It's not that simple."
"Are you saying that because it's true or because you don't-"
"Because it's true," Eddie rolls his eyes. "A lot has happened since then, Steve. You fell in love with Wheeler."
"What?" Steve can't hide his confusion. "Nancy?"
"Yes, Nancy. You made sure everyone fucking knew about that."
Steve snorts, having to grab at his side with a wince. He bites the inside of his cheek to keep himself from laughing.
"So you're still easy to rile up?" He asks, smirking.
"Wh- you-" Eddie gasps. He tries to sit up again, grunting when he flops back down. "You were trying to make me jealous?!"
He's looking at Steve with disbelief, but he's also smiling.
"Are we friends now?" Steve asks.
"Yeah, Stevie. We're friends."
"Just friends?"
"I don't... Steve, how bad is your amnesia?"
Steve quickly looks away, wincing. "Not... that bad? I remember that- the first time. This, um... monster shit. Falling out with Tommy. And the doctors are optimistic- they're pretty sure I'm going to remember."
"Alright... maybe it'd be better if we talk then, instead of rushing into it now."
"Jesus," Steve frowns. "I really have missed a lot. When did you get mature?"
"Hey-"

Eddie's at a party, lunch box in tow, and he's making a fucking killing.
He sets up shop in the crowded kitchen, but that doesn't stop him from spotting King Steve in the living room. Harrington's face is still fucked up from the fight with Hargrove, and he's tipping a cup almost vertically into his mouth. He's not too surprised when--the next time he spots the jock--he has a can of beer in each fist.
More customers flood up to him, and he can't help but be a little grateful for the distraction. Harrington is one unrequited crush he just can't kick.
Lunch box cleaned out, Eddie heads outside for a smoke. He's fishing his cigarettes out of his jacket pocket when he hears a snuffling sort of shuffle that sends his heart racing.
He edges forward, just enough to make out the heap of a person half-heartedly sitting up against the house. A person in fitted blue jeans, tight polo, and Member's Only jacket; swoop of chestnut hair catching in the flash of fire from Eddie's Zippo.
"Harrington?"
The guy startles, stability wavering, eyes blinking too much. "Munson?"
"You alright, man?" He asks, though he can already tell that Steve is most definitely not.
Steve shrugs. "Why do you care?" It's not mean, sounds genuinely curious.
Eddie gets it. He has no reason on earth to show concern about King Steve. In answer, he taps his boot against Steve's sneaker, giving him a small smile. "Not sure. But I'm here, so..."
"Just needed some air. Clear my head."
"How much have you had to drink?" Eddie asks.
"One or two,"
"Dozen?"
Steve laughs. "You're funny. Has anyone ever told you that?"
"I've heard," Eddie says, can't help but laugh a little too. "Wanna talk about what's going on?"
Eddie thinks that'll be a "no," but then: "Nancy dumped me."
"Yeah, big news."
"Ugh, people are talking about it?" Steve whines. It's really cute and Eddie hates himself for noticing. Hates himself more when Steve loses his balance, tips onto Eddie's shoulder, and Eddie doesn't tip him back.
Eddie can tell that Steve isn't fully with him anymore. He's a little afraid to leave the guy alone, so Eddie talks about the latest Hellfire campaign. Sober Steve Harrington probably has no idea what dnd is, but the drunk version is kind of a rapt audience.
He's just explaining about owlbears when Steve's voice, soft and sad, says "I just want someone to love me, you know?"
The admission renders Eddie speechless for a second, his chest fucking aching for the jock. He says "Oh, Stevie," knows he sounds too sad, is sure of it when Steve's nose wrinkles (it's cute; it's so fucking cute. Eddie hates himself for noticing).
Before he can backtrack, Steve slumps over, body going limp as he passes out. "Jesus H Christ," Eddie barks.
With a heavy sigh, and way too much fondness, Eddie stands. "Let's get you home, sweetheart."
He gathers Harrington up in his arms--dude is heavy--and carries him around to his van.
---
Steve wakes up, head throbbing and tongue fuzzy, with no idea how he got home and into bed. Can't really recall anything after he stumbled outside, aside from talking to Eddie Munson. But maybe that was a dream? Either way, he's home, not really any worse for wear. It's enough to let him forget all about it; what's one drunken party in a life full of them?
That Wednesday, he opens his locker after the final bell, and a Hershey bar falls out. He picks it up, flipping it over to see a note on the foil wrapping, "thought you might need something sweet to cheer you up." It's not signed, and Steve slips it into his backpack, knowing he's got a silly smile on his handsome face.
The little gifts continue to show up once or twice a week. Candy, plastic vending machine toys, sketches of the school grounds, caricatures of classmates and teachers. Sometimes they even come with a note in handwriting he doesn't recognize.
Along with the little treats, he starts seeing Eddie Munson kind of everywhere. And it's not like Steve hadn't seen him before--guy was hard to miss--but he was never around this often. Wasn't around this often and he and Steve had never shared a smile, a quick bob of the head, a quiet hello.
It isn't long before they're talking. Nothing much, nothing serious. Complaining about teachers, about classmates; sharing weekend plans. Only now Steve can't pretend to not notice the way Eddie dimples up when he smiles, the subtle muscles that bunch under the sleeves of his Hellfire Club shirt, the long litheness of his legs. Steve knows he's attracted to other guys, it's just that he didn't realize he'd be attracted to Eddie.
The gifts keep coming. Once, he opens his locker to find a plastic ring fashioned into a golden crown and a note that says, "made me think of you, Stevie." There's something about the "Stevie" that catches deep in his brain, but he can't make it connect to anything.
A few months later, Steve opens his locker and pulls out a drawing. This one--it's of him. He's gazing out into space in a way that managers to be dreamy and wistful. The Steve in the drawing is lovely, and it makes something clench deep in his gut, that someone sees him like this.
Steve tries to be more aware of the people in his surroundings, to figure out who his admirer is. He's not very good at it, even as more sketches of him--all depicting him as a gorgeous, ethereal thing he definitely isn't--show up in his locker. Especially when, so often these days, the person he sees the most is Eddie.
---
The presents in his locker continue into April, and would probably last until the end of the school year, but Steve's got a migraine starting. He keeps aspirin in his locker, gets a hall pass out of English to get some.
When he reaches his locker, though, someone is already there, with the door open. Someone in ripped black jeans, heavy black boots, a black leather jacket, and patch covered denim vest.
"Munson?" He asks. His heart beats so hard it reverberates in his ears, making it hard to hear.
Eddie jumps back, hands fluttering, face flushing bright red. "Ste--Harrington! I--uh--," he's backing up, his hands held out from his body, like he's pushing Steve away even though they aren't touching.
"Were you--?" Steve tries to ask, but the words won't quite come. There's familiar warmth low in his stomach, a twisting that has nothing to do with his impending migraine.
"I wasn't doing anything, I swear," Eddie says. He's breathing hard, eyes too bright, and Steve thinks he might be about to cry, but then the metalhead is turning away, starting to run.
"Eddie, wait!" Steve calls, chasing after him without much thought. "Please!"
Eddie doesn't stop until after they've crashed out one of the side exits, are alone outside.
"It was you? Leaving the--?"
Eddie nods, presses his hands to his eyes. "Sorry, I'm sorry, Harrington. I just--"
"Don't be sorry," Steve begs. "It's been--I liked it."
"Even now that you know they're coming from the freak?" Eddie spits. He still hides his face behind his hands.
"It's sort of been the best part of my year, if I'm being honest."
Only now does the metalhead remove his hands, blink back at Steve, dark eyes wide with shock. "Really?"
"Yeah. It made me feel-- important, I guess? Like, maybe someone saw me as something more than King Steve."
Eddie smiles now, looks down at the pavement. "I just didn't want you to think that you weren't--" he stops then, presses his mouth tight.
"Didn't want me to think what?"
"That you weren't loved, Stevie."
The statement hangs between them, Eddie's face pinking again, as the words wrap their way around Steve's heart. Loved. That he's loved. It clenches at every part of him, and he surrounds himself with the truth of it, what all those little presents were saying without words.
"Eddie, I--" he's overwhelmed by the gesture, the meaning, the reciprocal buzz in his chest, because Eddie Munson, Eddie Munson, loves him, and this fact is turning Steve's world on it's head in the best way.
"I'm sorry, Steve, really. Please don't hate me, or--or--"
"It means so much to me," Steve says, his voice a little broken. He reaches a hand out, slow, telegraphing the movement. "Can I?" He whispers.
Eddie nods, and Steve strokes the skin of his face with his thumb. "Thank you."
The metalhead nods, leaning into Steve's touch, they shift close, until their foreheads meet, until they share the same air. They stand that way for a while, long enough that they hear the bell ringing, and only then does Steve break their quiet. "Eds?"
"Yeah, Stevie?"
"You wanna hangout some time?"
Eddie laughs. "Yeah. I really, really do, sweetheart."

PART 1
Eddie did not know what to do. It was one mistake, made in a dimly lit bar, and he honestly doesn’t even remember the guy’s name. Was it John? Jeremy? Jason? It was one guy, he never even flirts anymore but Steve looked so good that night that it hurt. Hurt so bad he needed someone to temporarily fill that gaping hole in his heart. Because how can Steve Harrington ever want him in any way?
His mother, Cecilia Munson, used to call him sweetheart at the softest times of the day, sunlight dancing through their rooms, just for the two of them. He remembers being nine, young, sharp edged from his father, wondering why anyone would look at him and call him sweetheart, not when he hot wires cars and pick locks. His mother smiles sweetly at him, explaining, “You, Eddie Munson, have the kindest and biggest heart. I call you sweetheart because I love you.”
Of course, Eddie’s in love with Steve. Of course, he calls Steve sweetheart because he loves him. How can anyone not fall in love with him? He calls Steve sweetheart because its true. Steve is a sweetheart. Steve’s sweet with the biggest kindest heart he’s ever seen on anyone. Sure, he wasn’t the best in high school, but he’s proven that he’s better now time and time again.
He gets a visit from Dustin two days after the bar incident, pounding at his door like a hurricane. When he finally opens the door, Dustin’s red faced with anger, “You’re fucking lucky I love you or I would’ve bought Erica Sinclair with me.”
Before he can even ask what’s happening, Dustin’s listing the ways Erica can hide a body, never to be found again. Eddie sighs. The group knows now, of course, they would. News spreads like wild fire with the kids. It’s because of those damn walkies they have (he can’t begrudge them for it when it once aided in saving his ass.)
“How did you find out?”
“Jonathan.”
“Jonathan?!”
Dustin shrugs, “He’s got vendetta against you now. I don’t know dude, they’ve always had a weird friendship. Max thinks they were a throuple at some point, Lucas thinks they’ve got a thing going on just the two of them and Will won’t say anything.”
Jesus Christ, Eddie’s not one for jealousy but there’s something green cruising through his veins right now and he hates it with a burning passion. He needs Dustin to leave so he can scream into a pillow, or maybe sob in the shower.
“Why are you here?”
“I am here to make sure you fix this shit you fucked.”
Eddie looks up at him with surprise as Dustin crossed his arms, eyebrows raised, “Everyone knows Steve’s the biggest sweetheart. He may hide it with his big hair or his sarcasm, but we all know. If you do like him, which you do, you dumb ass. You have to fix this, Eddie. I haven’t seen Steve this upset before and I was there when Nancy dumped him.”
Eddie blanches at the statement, it tears straight to his heart at the fact that he made his sweetheart upset. God, he's an idiot.
The next morning Eddie goes into mission mode with a bouquet of daisies in one hand and a bag of cookies he bought from the bakery on the other as he arrives at the Harrington’s mansion. He’s gonna fix this today, come hell or high water.
Robin answers the door and Eddie’s sure he’s never seen her look more feral and that’s saying a lot when they've fought a magical evil wizard together. Robin’s looking at him like she’ll gauge his eyes out if he makes a wrong move, which he deserves.
Eddie asks for Steve and before he can finish the door is shut to his face. Well, he deserves that too. So he knocks again, ringing the doorbell as annoyingly as he can.
Robin opens again, nostrils flaring, “What do you want Munson? If you’re here to make my best friend cry again, I am asking you to leave now.”
“Robin, I just want to talk to him. I want to apologize. I made a mistake and I want to fix that mistake.”
“Then what? You're gonna go calling him sweetheart again without strings attached?”
“You know that’s not what it is. You know, Robin.”
And she does know. She knows about Eddie’s feelings for her best friend and the fear of not being good enough for Steve. Robin’s afraid no one will ever be good enough for her Steve but before the bar incident, she thought Eddie’s the closest thing to good enough.
For a second, Eddie can see Robin soften, then she shakes her head, “No.” Robin says, her back straightening.
Robin’s about to close the door again when Steve comes into view. A blanket draped over his shoulders, hair messy, glasses askew. If it was any other situation Eddie might’ve swooned at how soft he looks like but he’s eyes are red rimmed from crying and Eddie hates himself even more.
“Let him in, Rob.” Robin stands solid at the doorway, not moving. Steve looks at her wearily, “Robin.” They have another one of their silent conversations, before Robin gives up, “Fine.” She leaves the door open before marching up the stairs to give them privacy.
Eddie hands him the daisies and the cookies, Steve smiling down at it before inviting him into the living room with a small smile.
“I am sorry.” They both blurt out at the same time. Eddie’s not even sure to why Steve’s apologizing. Steve then goes on a tangent about how sorry he is for making the assumption that the name sweetheart is only for him and that it meant something more. It wasn’t Eddie’s fault, it was his and his only. He says it’s okay and he didn’t deserve Eddie in the first place and he wasn’t that special. Every word just crushes Eddie even more. How can Steve think he doesn’t deserve Eddie? Him of all the people?
Eddie can’t do anything but scoop him up in his arms, trying his best to give him the best hug in the world as he apologizes for his mistake. Eddie assures him that he is Eddie’s only sweetheart and Steve didn’t make anything up in his head. Eddie tells him he is in love with him, and Steve tears up but at least there's a big smile on his face.
Then and there, Eddie makes the decision to show Steve the love he deserves, to woo him off his ass. Eddie loves him, through and through, and Steve’s always gonna be his sweetheart and if in 50 years they don’t end up together, Eddie will never call anyone else sweetheart, because that’s for Steve, his nail bat yielding, bad ass, sweetheart.
They don’t kiss. Content with just being in each others arms, knowing their true feelings for each other. (Also because Eddie feels like he needs to earn it) Robin goes down when it gets too quiet, and when she sees them in the couch she smiles sweetly at the image of the two of them tangled together.
She walks up on them, “I am so glad you two made up.” Eddie’s smiling up at her when Robin’s fist hits his nose.
“ROBIN!!!” Steve’s clutching him, he’s pretty sure his nose is bleeding and when Eddie looks up, Robin’s holding her fist like it hurt her to punch, but she’s grinning the biggest grin Eddie’s ever seen on her face.
“Again, I am glad you two made up. I love you both very much. But if I you make him cry again, that’s not the only thing I am breaking.” Robin smiles before kissing their heads and heading to the kitchen to get him an ice pack.
They look at each other before promptly bursting into laughter as Steve tries to wipe his bleeding nose with his own hand.
Eddie does woo Steve. On the third date Eddie planned for them, Steve finally kisses him. They’re in his car and Eddie’s rambling about his new campaign and how the kids loved it. Steve kisses him mid-way the conversation. The kiss itself, Eddie thinks, is just as sweet as Steve. Steve holds him like he’s the best thing in this universe and like it’s a privilege to be kissing him, rather than the other way around.
Eddie does not stop wooing Steve. He picks him flowers in random fields, takes him on dates, makes him dinner, leaves tiny notes on his bathroom mirror, (he also woos him amazingly in bed), packs him lunches, makes him mixtapes, burns CDs, and, three decades later, playlists.
They’re 40, Steve found his first grey hair yesterday and Eddie’s knees hurt more often that it should. But Eddie still calls Steve sweetheart. Their kids cringe at their parents and their vintage pet name for each other, but their smiles don’t hide the fact that they adore their parents love.
Steve knows he’s special, because Eddie Munson calls him sweetheart for the rest of their lives.
Eddie knows he deserves this life, this love, because Steve Harrington loves him.

Part 3 of this fic Part 4
Steve is shrugging on his vest and getting ready to clock in when Robin comes into the store and makes a beeline for him, "Are you and Nancy back together?"
"Good morning to you too, Robin. I slept fine last night. My morning was also pleasant. What the fuck are you talking about?"
"Steven Elizabeth Harrington-"
"Not my name." Steve rests his forearms on the counter facing Robin.
"-I walked into the kitchen yesterday to you twirling her around in your arms and goddamn giggling! Don't get smart with me."
"Wouldn't dream of it Bobby."
Robin leans across from Steve, mirroring his posture, "Seriously, if you're back together you have to tell me, it's best friend law. Are you a criminal Steven? Are you breaking best friend laws?"
"Stop government naming me! No, we are not back together. We're friends again and she was teasing me about my stupidly embarrassing crush on Eddie Munson. She said she thinks he likes me back Rob. But you're friends with him, you would know if he liked me, wouldn't you?"
"I... In theory, yes that is probably information I would know." Robin straightens up and tilts her head to the side like she's considering the possibility.
"And you're my best friend, and best friend law would mean you're obligated to tell me, right?"
Robin steps back from the counter putting space between her and Steve and glances behind her towards the door. "I'm not sure that best friend case law covers that particular area."
Steve stands straight up and smacks his hand against the counter and then points at Robin, "YOU DO KNOW SOMETHING!"
"I don't know anything or even if there is anything to know and even if I did know something, which I definitely do not, it wouldn't be my secret to tell. Okay bye Steve, see you later!" Robin yells over her shoulder as she runs out the door, saying it all so fast that Steve is impressed that she didn't pause for breath.
"Well, that was weirder than usual, even for her." Steve mutters as he watches her mount her bike and take off down the street.
"It definitely was." A voice says from Steve's right side, making him jump.
"Where the hell did you come from!?" Steve looks wildly around and past Max, scanning for any more of his children sneaking up on him.
"I've been here since before you, Keith let me in when he opened. And for the record, Robin definitely knows more than she's saying."
"How do you know?" Steve is suspicious but still desperate for information, "Wait, how much of that did you hear?"
"All of it. But your 'stupidly embarrassing crush on Eddie Munson' isn't exactly a secret, Steven. You're always looking at him like a lost puppy dog. Like you want to wrap him up and take him home to-"
"Okay! Enough Maxine-"
"Now who's government naming?"
"You started it."
"Actually, Robin started it, but do you want to know how I know she's keeping secrets or not?"
"You're right Max, Robin is the villain here, please tell me what she's hiding."
"Don't try to butter me up. And I never said I knew what she was hiding, just that she is hiding something. I can guess at what it is, but I think you already know. After we left your house yesterday Eddie dropped off Dustin, but Robin came back to the trailer park with Eddie and me. I went home and Robin went with Eddie. About an hour later, I heard the van leave and when it came back Eddie was alone, so he must have been dropping her off."
"So, they were alone for about an hour and that's your proof?"
"No, that's circumstantial. My proof is that when Eddie came home, he knocked on my door and asked me for help running errands today. He said he would give me $5 to return some movies for him. He dropped me off 20 minutes ago and he's picking me up," Max looks towards the front of the store where Eddie's van is pulling into the lot, "right about now. Combined with whatever that was that Robin just did, I think that smells like a plan."
Steve could see it. It made sense. If Eddie did like him then that would explain why Robin ran in here asking about Nancy and why Max was here, giving Eddie a chance to come in and see Steve. Robin knew he would be working right now, and he could just bet that Eddie had been waiting off on a side street for Robin to report back about Nancy. Max had clearly already put all that together and he could see in her face that she was watching him fit the pieces together as well.
"You know, you're a lot smarter than we give you credit for Steve," Max smirked at him and then turned towards the door as Eddie walked in.

My lovely @henderdads Cass, I unfortunately didn't manage to write a full length fanfiction that you 100% deserve for your birthday, buuuut...I saw that your fav Disney movie is Mulan. What if I gave you a very adjusted Mulan Steddie AU idea with a partial apocalypse, joining the army in place of someone you love, and an incredibly annoying voice in your ear who tells you what to say and do...
Eddie Munson is very much anti-war, thank you. He hates the army, hates the cops, tolerates Chief Hopper because he's cool, but overall authority? Nah, not for him. Eddie would never, ever join something violent and wear camo.
The world doesn't care about his preferences. When interdimensional rifts start popping up left and right and the whole planet is currently battling creatures pouring out of what is called the Upside Down dimension, every family has to send a man to join the war.
Eddie should not be joining anything. After a horrific car crash that nearly cost him his life, half of his torso is nothing but scars, his body is weak from spending months in the hospital, plus his aim is atrocious. But the government said someone needs to go, and his beloved uncle Wayne, the 50-ish man who looks like a nihilist but is secretly all the goodness in the world personified, is gearing up to go and serve his country. That just won't do.
He steals the letter ordering someone from the Munson family to join the Hawkins battlefield and prays that no one will have a chance to check his records. They probably won't, most of the documents for his town got burned to a crisp when a rift opened under the office. And because he knows absolutely nothing about the special Upside Down units he's about to join, he's doing what he knows the best - practicing by roleplaying. He's simulating small talk with "the boys". He's trying cheeky comebacks. And he's incredibly, cringe-inducingly bad at it.
Fortunately for him, or maybe not, he has a guardian angel, except the angel is a 13 year old kid he used to DM for. His name is Dustin and he's ruthless. When he stumbles upon Eddie's "Oh yeah, I used to play the ball in high school. Which ball? Uh...all the ball!", he announces Eddie is useless and gives him a small comm he's developed with his nerdy friends. "Don't worry," he says, "I will guide you through everything."
And Eddie believes it might be a good thing, that it might counterbalance his uncontrollable mouth, at least until the moment that he sees his sergeant, Steve Harrington. The guy is friendly, capable, tough as nails and incredibly, mind-numbingly pretty.
"Say good to meet you, sir!" the voice in his ear whispers.
Eddie opens his mouth to say exactly that. "Wow, aren't you a sight to behold, big boy!" is what ends up leaving it.
Dustin finds out the hard way that the barely functioning gay disaster Eddie Munson is impossible to guide through anything. He picks the lock to the showers after midnight to avoid showing his scars - or if he wanted to be honest, showering very heterosexually next to Steve fucking Harrington, the man who pulled him out of harm's way when Eddie messed up, and then nonchalantly produced a spiked bat and beat the creature preparing to snack on Eddie to a pulp.
"Why did you freeze when Steve was discussing tomorrow's mission?" Dustin hisses at him.
"You're not here, you twerp, you'd freeze too if you saw all that chest hair!"
Many things end up happening during the war of the worlds (cliché, but it works in Eddie's head). Eddie somehow ends up saving Steve's life by backing into a cassette player, turning it on and blasting "Master of Puppets" all over the battlefield, luring the creatures away from Steve's position. He tries to explain that it was an accident, but no one believes him.
Eddie notices that the creatures are invading in certain patterns. When people ask him how come he noticed something no one else did, he just shrugs and says: "it's what I would have done if I was running this as a campaign." He ignores Dustin's excited rambling about how cool the campaign would be and that Eddie definitely has to survive now.
Steve starts respecting him, even enjoying his company. How the hell did that happen. And there's definitely some tension between them, not the angry kind, and Eddie is taking cold showers now. For health reasons, obviously.
And finally, Eddie finds out that even if his aim sucks, he's pretty great with a flamethrower. They become unbeatable as a close range fighter duo with Steve.
Eventually, Eddie's insight combined with some secret government experimentation (they experimented on a kid? If it didn't work out so well, Eddie would have punched them and then set them on fire) end the war. The portals are closed, the remaining creatures gradually eliminated. Steve and Eddie are decorated as heroes and sent home. It's all very quick, very "let's not talk about this whole rift thing possibly being a government fault, nope!", Steve finally finds out about Eddie not being fit to serve and spirals into an absolute meltdown about endangering someone who was never supposed to fight in the first place. Eddie finds himself sitting on a bus home with a medal and a broken heart.
It's only a few days later, after Wayne's crushing hugs, scolding, well hidden tears and Dustin's constant visits, that someone knocks on his and Wayne's trailer door. It's Eddie's former sergeant Steve Harrington, wearing a soft yellow sweater and the cutest shy smile Eddie's ever seen. "Hi. Uh...I know it's difficult to make up for putting you through all that and not verifying your records. But..." he says and shushes Eddie when he tries to accept all the blame and get into a spiral of his own, "...I think a dinner would be a good start to that apology. How does that sound?"
Eddie grins at him and reaches for his hand. "I'd say you've got yourself a date, big boy."

Relationships: Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson
Characters: Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson
----------------- Eddie Munson and Steve Harrington were two forces not to be reckoned with. Everybody knew this. If Eddie was snippy and rough and loud—then people zipped their lips, threw away the key, and sat on their hands. If Steve was cold and distant and biting with every word—then the others knew to be warm and inviting and leave the past in the past.
These were known facts.
It was also known that Eddie and Steve were a pair. They were gentle with each other and all soft and gooey around the edges. Often, they'd circulate each other in public—skimming fingertips over backs of hands, sharing straws because somebody "forgot" to grab another—or behind the privacy of closed doors—entangled on the couch during movie nights and washing dishes after large dinners and exchanging quiet glances that everyone knew meant, "Horny and Impatient."
But they definitely knew how to choke each other out. Insecurities ran deep and were easy to point out. Like mold on bread slices.
So it makes perfect senes that they constantly argued, too. Usually mundane situations. Things like: "Ugh, Steve! It's my turn to choose what we watch, enough with the basketball!" and "Eddie, stop leaving your dishes strewn about!" and "No, I'll pick up everybody and drop them off!" Though, these were quickly resolved. A deep breath taken, a compromise made, and a few warm pecks exchanged.
However, on a slow Thursday evening in the middle of November, things go haywire.
They've been neck at neck for hours. Biting back and forth about the usual. The dishes. Your sports game. No, I'll do this. No, I can do it. Yet, everything comes crashing down the moment Eddie says:
"God, you're being so stupid!" Shouted and spitting. He's red faced and wild. His body lanky and petrifying the way a molten skeleton in some very graphic thriller movie would be.
Steve stops where he's been pacing in the living room. Now glancing back over to Eddie on the couch. "What?" he asks in a quiet, shaking voice. He doesn't remember anything about the argument, but he can definitely hear the way Eddie's voice echoes now. Doesn't know where the snarky remarks were going, how they dissolved now into this.
This being the two of them several feet apart in the same room. Not looking at each other, trying to find the most convenient and decorated corner of the Harrington's living room. Spitting and biting and growling.
"You're being so stupid!" Eddie shouts again. "I feel like every time I try to explain something to you, I'm just talking to a brick wall! Do you even listen to me? Or are you just a fucking space cadet all the time?" He runs a frustrated hand down his face, pulling at his features exaggeratingly. "For once, I wish you'd listen to me, just once!"
There's a tense moment where Steve just stands rigid and Eddie must take this as some sort of confirmation. Because he hefts himself up from the couch and makes his way around the coffee table to where Steve is just standing. A bony finger stabs into Steve's chest. Eddie closes in, voice low and husky. Face centimeters away, eyes lit with ingenuine mirth and teeth glinting in the shape of fangs. "See?" he questions lowly. "Can't even fucking give me an answer."
And something finally wakes up in Steve. He takes a wobbling step back, feeling cold air rush around him. "Wh-what? Of course I listen to you. I just—"
"You just what?" Eddie raises. His voice itching to be loud and louder. "You just listen to what you want to hear? Want me to call you pretty names and tell you how good you are and how excited I am to see you?" he taunts. "But when it's something I care about—"
Steve flinches at his wording.
"—when it's something I care about, you just can't bother," Eddie growls. "If it isn't fascinating to you, then you just tune me out. Your brain fucking implodes and shrivels back down to being jock sized and empty." He takes a hefty step forward, once again in Steve's orbit. A palm raises in Steve's line of sight, it shoves hard at his chest. Not sending him to the floor, but stumbling enough that he wheezes from the impact.
Eddie moves again to try it once more, to make Steve feel small.
But, Steve sidesteps him. "That's not true," he tries to argue, but it sounds too soft and tiny to be anything. "You were talking about D&D and I tried to follow along, but you know how I am with that stuff. It doesn't—"
"It doesn't connect," Eddie mocks. "Fuck you, Harrington. I've heard that a million times before and each one of those times, I've explained this shit to you. Over and over and—"
"Fuck me?! Fuck you, Eddie!" Save finally screams back. "Do you even hear yourself right now? You're being such an asshole, you know how I am with being called du—"
Eddie scoffs. "Oh, so for years, you and your little pack of high school bullies can mock me for shit. Call me names. Toss me around. And the one time I finally call you out on this, it's suddenly too much?!" he roars. "You're so—" He grunts, groans, screams nearly.
"Stop, Eddie," Steve demands. Tome firm first.
But Eddie barrels on anyway. "You're such a dick. You think everything revolves around you. You don't care for anything I have to say. You—"
"Stop," Steve pleads.
"You don't really care for anybody around you, do you?" he questions darkly. "'Just wanted to help,' my ass. Just wanted to clear your name, more like. Am I right? And now you're just stuck here, fucking jumping to whatever conclusions you want, following the wording you want to hear—"
"Red!" Steve screams. "Red, red, red!" he shouts before turning towards the couch and sitting down heavily. Head in his hands, fingers pulling at the hair around his ears. His throat feels like it's on fire and his head is pounding and there's definitely tears threatening to pour from his eyes. Peeking between the gap of his palms, the carpet is a mirage of blended colors, not a single one making a complete picture. But he can't look up from it. Not after having to practically safeword out of an argument.
Eddie is now startled into silence. His body turns to face his boyfriend. Where he sits, shaking and choking on quiet sobs. There's a brief moment where Eddie can literally feel his heart parachute to his stomach. Can hear the sizzling of his organ and the rush of his own blood. He's never heard Steve get loud like this. Usually he's so quiet and pensive and passive aggressive, but this, this is a new side. And Eddie doesn't like it at all.
It was common between them to try new things out and see what pleasure can be derived. And if things were taken too far or something immediately felt off-putting or terrible, they were allowed to exit the scene at any time. The stoplight system. Their shared word being "Asparagus." Things that could easily be heard and shut down everything at once, forcing them into a gentle lull where they share whispered praises and warm compliments and careful touches with a soft rag or just fingers.
So it's not unusual for Eddie to hear it. He's had to comfort Steve after a few scenes. And Steve's done the same for him.
What gets him is the context now. How tense the room feels, like walking into an already heated up sauna. Like walking into a hot tub set to one thousand degrees, in nothing—absolutely nothing.
And even though they’re fighting, Eddie’s immediate care kicks into overdrive. He forces his body to skitter over to the couch, plop down by Steve’s side, and reach out to rub a palm over his back. But when his skin makes contact, Steve flinches away.
“Don’t fucking touch me right now,” he growls. And when his eyes look deep into Eddie’s, there’s something tragic there. “You—You don’t get to say shit like that to me and then try to—Try to,” he chokes. A sob caught between a gag and a phlegm cough cracks open from his chest. “I don’t understand what I did wrong,” he cries out.
Eddie is once again quiet, keeping his hands to himself. Running them nervously over his thighs. It takes everything in him to not reach out and scoop Steve up and run fingers through his hair. He swallows and breathes. Opting to not respond. Maybe this will teach him to shut his mouth, for once.
Steve cries loud and harsh. And Eddie bears witness to it all. The contortion of his body, the reddening of his skin, the pulling of his hair, especially the wailing that’s spilling from his closing throat.
“I was listening,” Steve hiccups. “I was, I swear. I didn’t—“ His breath stutters through his next inhale. Lip sucking inwards when he does attempt a deep breath; it’s not like it lasts, merely only sitting in his lungs for three seconds before punching back between them. “I couldn’t hear you!” He exclaims.
There’s no residual anger in Steve’s tone, though Eddie thinks there should be. God, he feels like a pile of shit just for the way Steve is holding himself right now. How his body is giving up on him. The way he continues to writhe through each stabbing cough and sob and gag and—He just feels like shit.
Though, alarms are going off in Eddie’s head. What Steve just said, that doesn’t make any sense. They were facing each other. They were sitting only two inches apart, practically every open area of skin clinging to one another. For a moment, Eddie once again feels anger spike through him. But the other part of him is overcome with deep concern, rippling in his blood, pouring out in the way his eyes widen and his eyebrows furrow and his mouth shifts downturned.
“You couldn’t hear me?” He parrots.
Steve nods his head. A bobblehead who’s spring is wound too loose, head flopping almost over its shoulders. “I—I was going to tell you, I swear. But I—You were talking and talking and I couldn’t read your lips because that’s really hard and you talk super fast and when you talk fast you mumble and—“ He gags. Slams his back behind into the couch, head dropping over the curved edge. He blinks rapidly, swallows so aggressive that his Adam’s apple appears to be plunging from behind his tongue. A deep breath, short lived. Two more deep breaths and they wheeze through him, but it must be enough because he carries on. “And then you got mad and you were so mean and I swear I was listening, I was interested, I just didn’t understand. And you get so tired of having to reexplain things that I didn’t want to ask and then you got even more mad and now—I was listening, I swear!” He cries out once more.
In response, Eddie’s jaw is dropped slack. He couldn’t hear me, he realizes. Genuinely, really.Scrambling, he whispers, “And I got mad and I called you stupid and then…” And then he called red, you idiot, Eddie self-chastises.
God, he is really a steaming back of flaming dog shit.
Taking another breath, Steve exhales with, “I was listening.” He tilts his head to look directly at Eddie. Eyes open and pleading. Begging to be understood. “I’m losing my hearing, Eds. I was going to tell you, but I didn’t—I didn’t get the chance. And then you were—“
“I was being mean. I was being an asshole. I wasn’t listening to you,” Eddie lists off. “I was doing the things that I accused you of,” he realizes.
Steve nods against the back of the couch. Blinking and blinking and swallowing and trembling.
“Oh my god, you couldn’t hear me, you couldn’t understand me,” Eddie whispers. Suddenly, he shoots upwards. Nearly startling Steve into another frantic round of panic. “How long, Steve?”
“Since March,” Steve admits, almost shamefully. “My head slammed into the wall inside of the Creel house and I ended up with another concussion. And that was the start of it,” he elaborates. “It’s just been going from there.”
As he talks, Eddie begins to silently cry. And when Steve’s done, Eddie sobs.
“And this entire time…Oh my god,” he mumbles. “Oh my god,” he repeats. Choking through his next breath. “Baby—“ Steve perks up at that. “—Baby why didn’t you mention this earlier?”
Steve shrugs. “Everybody else had it worse off. It didn’t seem important.” He sniffs. “Guess now it kind of is though, right?” A humorless chuckle. “If that’s how you’ve been thinking of me.”
Damn him, Eddie thinks. Damn him and stu—and his unnecessary self-sacrificial nature. “Sweetheart, you’re not stupid. I swear, you’re not stupid. Steve, you are one of the most intelligent people I have ever had the fortune of coming across. You know just what to say, when to say it. You’ve got that interest in classic literature, which I fucking adore by the way. And you know almost too much about any sport in the world. That’s—Your sport stuff is like D&D for me.
“God, you’re not stupid. Not by a mile. I just—I’ve always been treated like shit for the things I like. And I know that’s not an excuse, it’s just the way I’ve had to adapt and grow, y’know?” He asks rhetorically. “If I got defensive and angry and vicious, then people left me alone. And I could enjoy my stuff in peace. But when I tried to share the things I liked, people were fast to tune me out and shrug me off.” Eddie slowly inches in again, gauging Steve’s reaction. When he doesn’t flinch, but instead moves close, Eddie shoves a hand into the back of his hair and slings his other arm over Steve’s lap. Thumb rubbing at Steve’s denim thigh. He says, “You’ve never been stupid. I just thought you didn’t care. Nobody has ever cared about me the way you care about me, I swear it.”
Steve nuzzles in closer. He breathes against Eddie’s neck. Murmurs, “Everything you like is special to me. And I want to be able to understand. I’m trying.”
“I know baby, I see that now,” Eddie whispers. “I’m so sorry for the way I treated you previously and today. Sweetheart, I’m so sorry.”
He squeezes Steve tighter. An attempt to meld their bodies into one.
“I love you so much, Steve. We’re going to figure something out. Learn a language or raise some money for a hearing aid, whatever you want.”
Against Eddie’s chest, Steve nods. “I love you too,” he whispers. Presses a kiss over Eddie’s left pec. “You’re gonna have to show me though.”
“Whatever you fucking want, Steve. You can have anything you want from me.” And he can feel the smirk against his neck. But Eddie is willing and able to give. “Take anything you want from me.”

Be My Queen
Chapter 5
Eddie Munson x Reader x Steve Harrington
This is a repost since the old blog doesn't work anymore. 🥰
Chapter summary: well... more hanging out at the hospital... and nightmare.
Chapter warnings: trauma, non-con touching, blood, Vecna being a fucking creep.
Tumblr media
I can't breathe.
Something is wrapping itself around my neck, I try to push it away, but I can't move either.
I open my eyes and the once white ceiling of my hospital room is now red, dirty and... it's breaking.
I feel panic overcoming my senses, I try to move my head, but nothing. I look around with my eyes as much as I can until they land on a tall veiny figure.
No..
"I told you, my love"
No. No.
"I'll always find you"
"Let... let go.." I try to say, even though the thing around my neck makes it harder.
Vecna only shushes me, walking closer to me still laying on my back.
"Pl-... please" I plead with tears in my eyes.
"Ssh my sweetness, sh... I'm doing it for you, for us" he explains "I can't let you escape me, not again"
"You're dead...you..."
"I'll never be dead for you" he holds his hand out close to my face "I'll always be with you, my queen"
"No..."
"Just accept it." He puts his hand on my face "all I need to do, now, is killed those stupid friendsof yours. They'll regret touching what's mine."
"No!"
--------------
I sit up, in my hospital bed... in the hospital room... with white ceiling...
A nightmare.
"Hey, hey, you okay?"
Steve.
I turn my head to look at him and I let out a sigh of relief, I move my hand to hold his.
"Yes... I'm sorry... I-"
My explanation is interrupted by a nurse rushing in.
"Is everything okay here?" She asks.
"Yeah... just a nightmare" Steve explains quickly.
"Oh" the nurses smiles understanding "poor thing, I'm afraid being attacked by a bear could do that"
I look at Steve confused.
"Yeah..."
"I wonder how a bear got there and then disappeared, just like that... I hope they find it" the nurse sighs.
"So do we"
"Well.. if you two need anything, call" with that she walks back out and I turn to look at Steve.
"A bear?" I ask.
"Don't look at me, apparently that's what Jason told the police" Steve says "but.. are you okay? You were moving a lot and I couldn't wake you"
"Just a nightmare" I answer.
"Wanna talk about it?" He offers and he kisses my hand.
"I... I was here... but so was Vecna. He was again holding me down and just kept telling me he will always find me" I explain holding his hands tightly, purposely leaving out the 'I'll kill your friends part'.
"Hey, hey" he makes me look at him "he won't. He's dead, alright? Nancy made sure of it. Used all the bullets we got. He can't hurt you."
"I know... it.. it just felt so real" I say sadly.
"It's gonna be hard, but we're gonna get through this. Okay?" He kisses my hand once again.
"Okay." I squeeze his hand while I sit up. "But... isn't it too early? You too had to rest, you know"
"I couldn't leave you alone for too long" he smiles "plus, it seems I did the right thing"
"Yeah... gotta say you did. Thanks"
"No problem"
"You saw Eddie too?" I ask.
"Not yet. I basically just arrived."
"You think we can go together?" I ask, hoping he would finally let me out of this bed.
Steve scans me.
"Fine. But let me ask the nurse first" Steve says standing up and walking to the door catching a nurse attention probably.
I start to pull myself out if bed, not waiting for Steve.
"I told you I'd ask the nurse first" I hear Steve walking back with an exasperated laugh.
"Too slow" I answer.
"Lean on me at least, you stubborn girl" he holds his arm out for me to take, and I do.
"Thanks, love"
I follow Steve through the hallways of the hospital until we get to Eddie's room.
To open is not Eddie, nor any of the nurses, but it's Eddie's uncle, Wayne. He seems surprised, but smiles anyway.
"I heard you should be resting, young lady" he playfully scolds me putting his hands in his hips.
I don't respond, instead I laugh and hug him. He hugs me back, he's careful, he doesn't want to hurt me I think.
"Hey, she's my girlfriend, man" Eddie playfully complains.
When he pulls away he smiles at me.
"I believe I should thank you" he tells me.
"What for?" I ask.
"Are you kidding?" It's his time to be confused "Eddie told me you basically saved his life"
"Oh... I... no I mean, that was nothing. He too... he too saved my life. Well.. we all saved each other's lives... basically" I stutter out.
"Oh no, he's right. We all should thank you actually" Steve intervenes.
"There's no need" I simply say, smiling at Wayne and walking to Eddie who's sitting on the bed, he looks so much better thankfully.
"Yes there is" Eddie says grabbing my hand and helping me sit on his bed.
"I mean it, kid, thank you." Wayne insists with his comforting smile. "Whatever you might need... you can ask me"
"Just say 'welcome', you know him, you won't make him change his mind" Eddie slightly nudges my shoulder.
"Yeah, I can see where your stubbornness comes from" I joke then turn to Wayne "I still think you don't have to thank me, but... you're welcome"
"I'll leave you three be" he says.
"There's no need Mr Munson, we came to see how Eddie's doing" Steve tries to make him stay.
"Don't worry about me, I'll just go grab some snacks and a coffee. God knows I need it. You two gave me quite the scare. If you didn't come in here on your own, I'd be on my way to you by now" he smiles again.
"Sorry" I chuckle.
There was a whole month where Eddie's van couldn't start so I offered to drive him, along with the others of course, and since he was the last one to be dropped off he often offered to hang out, that's how we bonded and how Wayne became uncle Wayne for me too.
"I'm just glad you're all fine. Oh, and you" he points his finger at Steve who looks taken aback, almost worried "call me Wayne"
"Alright, sir... uh.. Wayne" Steve chuckles.
When Wayne walks out Steve joins Eddie and I.
"So? How are you doing?" I ask Eddie.
"I'm completely fine, actually." He answers. "I'm just a little worried about the whole 'wanted for murder' thing.."
"Dustin intercepted the police talking and apparently Jason and his other goons talked to them and... well... you're not wanted anymore. The cops might still want to talk to you, though." Steve explains.
"Really?" I'm surprised, Steve nods and Eddie just sighs, relieved. "That's great"
"Yeah... never expected them of all people... but hey... after all that happened I should not be surprised" Eddie jokes
"No, I think we should all be surprised by this" I laugh.
"How about you, love?" Eddie asks.
"I'm fine. It's still painful, but I got used to it" I shrug, my eyes fixed on our hands together, but once I look back up I gasp, panicking.
Henry's in the room and he's looking at Eddie and Steve with so much hate I'm surprised they're not dead on the spot.
"Hey" Eddie gently shakes my hands, regaining my attention "you okay?"
"Yeah... yeah, I'm.. I'm good. Sorry" I stutter out, I don't want him to worry because I'm having stupid hallucinations.
"She had a nightmare" Steve blurts out.
"Steve!" I glare at him.
"You had a nightmare?" Eddie's concerned face turns to me, his hands caressing mine.
"Yeah..."
"Was... was it Vecna?" He carefully asks.
"Yeah... uh... can we talk about it later? I really don't feel like talking about it.. again" I say lowering my eye to our hands again.
"Sure... yeah, of course, sweetheart" Eddie says leaning down to find my eyes and smile at me.
"Thanks"
"So... what are we gonna do on our first date, uh?" Steve asks, changing the subject.
"I think... since she saved us all, Y/n should decide" Eddie proposes.
"No, no... it's our first date... ours, let's decide together. C'mon" I chuckle, they're so cute.
"Babe, do you realise what you've done?" Steve says, putting his hands on mine and Eddie's, I look at him confused.
"I... guys.. C'mon. I wasn't the only one doing something" I tell them.
"You're the one who risked her life the most."
"you ended up here too I see."
"That's because I'm stupid, love." Eddie jokes, earning a small laugh from me and a nod from Steve.
"You're not." I tell him "really. We all did our part, okay?"
"Love, listen" Eddie starts "Stop putting yourself down like this. Yes, we all did our part, but without you... without your courage we couldn't have done anything. He would've won. You put our lives before yours with no hesitation, we would be dead without you."
I shake my head, nervously smiling.
"You were the one at risk because he wanted you more." Steve continues "all his sick thoughts for you... his desires. You were risking so much more than any of us... and you still did it."
"How about..." I swallow "how about we each decide a part of the date? Like... uh... where to eat, what activity and when do it?"
I look at them, both of them smiling at me.
"Alright" Steve says squeezing my hand and kissing my cheek.
"That works, love" Eddie agrees.
"So... Eddie decides where to eat, Steve the activity and I decide when... since I'm still in pain... okay?" I ask.
"Perfect" they both say.
---------------
"I missed you, my Queen"
I open my eyes immediately at the sound of his voice. I quickly sit up straight, taking in the red surroundings too.
Vecna's mind.
No.
Shit.
Not again.
"I told you, you'll never escape me" he says.
I turn to where the voice comes from, noticing his closeness and I immediately move back.
"Stay away!" I scream and try to stand up but my legs fail and I fall back on the ground. When I look back up I once again see the blonde man from my visions. That somehow scares me even more and I crawl away as far as I can, but his hand grabs my ankle pulling me to him.
"Did you warn them? Did you tell them not to touch you again?" He asks, voice full of disgust.
"I said, stay away!" I move my hand to push his away, but it just makes him grab me harder "please... please... leave me alone.." I sob.
He gently, but firmly, grabs both my hands, moves them so I have no choice but to lay on the ground, his weight on top of me makes it harder to move as he pushes my hands to the ground.
"Go away... go.. go away" I keep muttering as he leans down so his face is mere inches from mine.
"Sshh... it's okay." He tries to calm me down "I'm here to help you, my queen"
"No... no... please, stop... Please stop"
"Don't you see? I'm doing it for you" he kisses my cheek and gets back at looking at me, "I want to help you, like you did for me" he moves one of my hand to his face, his cheek "You were what got me going all that time in that prison, I wanted you in my world... you would make it so much better, I just know it. You heal me, without even trying"
I try to retract my hand, but his grip tightens.
"No, I don't want... I don't... want this... please"
"Your simple touch" he continues, ignoring my pleads "your simple touch alone would heal the deepest of my wounds"
I again retract my hand, this time he lets me and stands up, so I take the chance and crawl as far as I can, until my eyes find some behind him.
Oh no...
Steve and Eddie are tied up with a vine around their necks.
"NO!" I scream again. "No... no please let them go.. please"
"I warned you" he says before the vines start to tighten around their neck.
"Stop! Please, Henry..."
At the mention of his name his features soften, but the grip on Eddie and Steve doesn't loosen.
"I'm doing it for you, my love" he says.
All I can do is scream at him.
-----------------
"She'll be so happy to see you." Steve says to Eleven, Mike, Will and Jonathan as he leads them to Y/n's room "She's probably taking a nap."
"She must me exhausted" Will guesses.
"Is she.. is she alright, though?" El asks.
"She is... she had a nightmare last night. I'm afraid he's gonna haunt her for some time still" Steve answers sadly "I.. I don't know what to do"
"Be there for her, man." Jonathan suggests "it's what we all can do at the moment"
Steve nods.
As they near Y/n's room, they hear noises coming from inside. Muffled screams, bed moving..
Steve immediately panics and rushes to the room, the other close behind.
"Y/n?" Steve enters, eyes immediately on her.
She's tossing and turning and screaming. Steve's heart breaks at the sight.
"Love? It's me... it's Steve... c-can you hear me?" He tries to call her. "You're safe... I'm here... we're all here. He can't hurt you"
"Steve?" Mike calls him.
Steve turns his head towards Mike and notices everyone are looking past him, worried. He turns to look down and see blood all over Y/n's chest.
"Call someone!" He screams at the others, will and Jonathan both run out to look for a doctor or a nurse.
Once the doctor and nurses arrive, they tell everyone to just wait out because they need to take Y/n immediately to surgery.
------------
"Missed me already? I was about to..." Eddie starts as he hears the door opening and sees Steve coming in, but stops talking as soon as he sees his face. "What... what's going on?"
"Y/n.."
Eddie's blood runs cold immediately.
"What happened to her?"
"I... I think she was having another nightmare..." Steve explains, breathing heavily from crying, "she was tossing and turning... I.. I tried to call her, let her know that we were there... El and the other arrived this morning and... she was screaming, Eddie... then she started to bleed, her wounds on her neck..."
Eddie doesn't know what to say, all kind of terrible thoughts floating in his head, he pulls Steve in a hug to help him calm down and to help himself calm down.
"The doctors took her to surgery... I.. I didn't know what to do. "
"She's strong... she's.. she's gonna get better... I know, I just know, " Eddie says, more to himself, actually, but he says it loud enough for Steve to hear too.
"She is.. I'm just scared, man, " Steve confesses."I don't know what to do without her. "
"Neither do I... but we won't have to find out... right? She... she'll be fine and she'll be here... in our arms sooner than we think... yeah?"
"Yeah, sooner than we think." Steve nods, still crying.
------------
My eyes snap open immediately, my breath heavy. I try to sit up. I want to rub my eyes but my hand are blocked somehow, I look down almost panicking, but as soon as I see Eddie and Steve holding gently my hands while sleeping with their heads on the bed my heart melts and I calm myself.
They must sense my movements because they jump up looking at me shocked.
"Oh my god, you're okay" Steve exclaims kissing me. That catches me off guard a little because it takes me a little to reciprocate and even when I'm about to he pulls away so Eddie could do the same.
"Holy shit... you scared the shit out of us, love" he says.
"What...why?" I ask, confused.
"You... you didn't realise what happened?" Eddie asks.
I only remember I was having a nightmare.
I shake my head no.
"I was coming to see you and when I arrive you were having another nightmare I think and you were tossing and turning and screaming and... you were bleeding so much they had to take you away." Steve quickly explain "I was so scared, love... so scared"
"How do you feel, though? Are you in pain? What.. what happened? Was that actually another nightmare?" Eddie keeps asking.
"I..."
"Let her breath, Munson" Steve chuckles.
"Sorry, sweetheart"
I move my hand to cup his cheek wiping away some tears.
"I'm okay... no worse or better than before, I think..." I look down" I was... I was having another nightmare, yes."
"Oh love" Steve leans down to kiss my hand. "Again?"
"Yes... uh... still Vecna... still couldn't move, but... but.. this time you were there and... you were dying" I say, my voice trembling.
"We're here... we're safe, and so are you, okay?" Eddie comforts me.
"Yes..." I say "yes, you're right... it just felt so real"
I hear a knock on the door and I flinch at the sound, Eddie reassuringly squeezes my hand.
" can we come in?" A familiar voice asks.
"I hope you're in the mood for a visit, love"
"Who is it?"
"Come in" Steve says and from the door I see El, Mike, Will ans Jonathan walking in. My eyes light up as I see them.
"Oh my god" I say opening my arms for El, who carefully hugs me tight.
"I'm so happy you're okay" she says.
"I'm happy you're okay too" I pull away to look at her "when I woke up I didn't know what happened to you and... I was so worried"
"I'm okay. He's dead now. Trust me" she says, she probably knows about the nightmares, maybe from Steve, so she says it firmly.
"Hey you guys" I greet the three boys.
"We missed you" Will come sit next to me.
"So did I"
"You're gonna have a cool scar there, when it's healed" Mike comments, making me laugh, he always had a weird way of reassuring people.
"One that matches her side's" Will agrees.
"On your side?" Eddie asks "what... what happened?"
"I'll tell you later, love" I smile at him noticing his worried look, that he tries to hide behind a chuckle.
"Alright"
El and I just stare at each other, I can't believe she's actually here, I should've expected it though.
"Okay guys, let's leave them alone a bit, uh?" Steve says standing up and leading everyone to the door.
"If you need anything..." Eddie starts.
"Call us, alright?" Steve finishes.
"Aaw look at you finishing each other sentences" I tease them, they roll their eyes at me and leave.
"Okay... now, I need you to tell me... what happened?" I turn to look at El, holding her hands in mine.
"It's a long story" she says.
"I don't care, I want to hear it" I chuckle.
"Dr. Owens told me about a threat to our world and that if I didn't stop it you all would've been in danger"
I nod in understanding as she keeps talking.
"He told me he could've helped me get my powers back. We got into this... uh... facility and he was there"
"Who was there?"
"Papa"
"Brenner is still alive?" I ask, pretty shocked.
"Not anymore. He helped me remember something from when I was at the lab... with other children and that helped me get my powers back." She explains.
"Your time at the lab?"
She nods.
"Do... do you remember anyone looking like... like me?" I ask, even though I'm scared of the answer. She looks at me, studies me then nods.
"Alright" I take a deep breath, to calm my nerves. "He... he said.. he said you sent me here... is that true?"
"No, I remember seeing her running away from him, but I don't know where she went then" she tells me. "I don't know... If I did it... I'm so sorry if I did... I'm so very sorry, Y/n"
I see her starting to cry so I immediately pull her in a hug and just rub her back.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, I'm sure it's not your fault, okay?" I sweetly tell her "we're okay, now. That's important"
She nods and pulls away to look at me. When I look at her I see her with a vine around her neck squeezing tightly.
I shake my head and she's back to normal, I close my eyes to regain some control.
"You're having nightmares." It's more of a statement than a question, so I nod.
"They all seem so real" I say "he's alive and he cages me. Everytime and I can't escape"
Eleven opens her mouth to answer but gets interrupted by the door opening.
"Hey" Jonathan shyly enters the room "I'm sorry to interrupt, but we have to go. It's getting dark and she's still wanted.."
"You're wanted? What?" I exclaimed.
"Another long story... I'll tell you next time" she says hugging me.
"You better." I scold her "Please be careful"
"Don't worry" she smile reassuringly "and the nightmares will stop... I promise"
I smile back at her and she leaves the room, at least smiling.
"Take care of her, please?" I ask Jonathan.
"She's safe, don't worry." He assures me "you, on the other hand, get better, uh? And stop being a hero"
"Yes, sir" I chuckle. "See you"he waves his hand and leaves too.
I take a deep breath, before Eddie and Steve walk back into the room.
"Hey."
"Hi, sweetheart"
"Hello, my boys" I hold my hands out for them to take and sit next to me. "What time is it?"
"It's almost 9" Steve answers.
"So late?"
"Why? You got a date we don't know about?" Steve jokes.
"I just don't want my boys to not get enough rest" I say.
"You're the one to talk" Eddie scoffs. "Look at her, Harrington, risks her life, gets attacked, almost dies, and she worries about us... unbelievable"
"I agree, Munson, unbelievable" Steve nods.
I laugh at their antics and just lean a bit back on the cushion.
"Want us to leave you rest, love?" Eddie's teasing tone is replaced by his sweet one. I shake my head, I don't want them to leave.
Hell... I don't really want to fall asleep at all.
"You need to get some sleep, love" Steve says, as is he could read my mind.
I just sigh, defeated.
"Hey" Eddie makes me look at him "Hey, I know you are scared, but don't let him win this. He lost. We've beaten him... he can't do anything to you, or to us. Okay?"
"You don't know how real they feel" I whisper, my voice breaks "even when I'm awake... and... it's too fucking real..."
"Love..."
"It's like he's inside my head. Like he said... he will always find me" I finish, tears threatening to spill.
"He won't have you. Alright." Steve firmly says.
"How can you be sure?"
"We saw the fucking body, dead. Unmoving." Steve looks intensely in my eyes. "We burned it, we shot him. We made sure the asshole was dead before running back. We made sure. I'll have Robin and Nancy tell you the same thing. Hell... I myself will tell you over and over again. Those are just nightmares, that's not real. We're here" he pulls my hand to his face kissing it "we're here, love." He says the last part with tears in his eyes.
"I'm sorry... I..." I start, bur Eddie's shaking head cuts me off.
"No, you have nothing to be sorry for, Y/n. We're here for you. Always." He says kissing my other hand.
"I'm just... when I see you... I see you dying... him killing you, I just... I just can't... I saw El too... I want it to stop" tears run free now, I can't stop them.
"Sweetheart," Eddie wipe away some of the tears on my face to make to look at him "it's gonna take a while before these nightmares stop, I'm not gonna say some way-too-optimistic bullshit you're not gonna believe anyway." He lightly chuckle seeing me nodding in agreement "but one thing I can say: we're here. All of us, all your family is here for you. You're not alone. It's gonna be hard, but this will stop"
I look at him, then at Steve studying his expression. He looks at me worried, but smiles to let me know he agrees with every word Eddie just said.
"Okay..." I say quietly.
"Yeah? Do you actually believe me or you just want ot shut me up?" Eddie asks trying to joke.
"Which, honestly, would be understandable" Steve comments with a teasing grin.
"Thanks, Harrington" Eddie sarcastically replies.
I laugh and they look at me with so much admiration it makes me melt and blush too.
"I do believe you... thank you. Both of you"
"You don't have to thank us, sweetheart" Eddie winks.
"No, if you have to thank me and I have to thank you for this, alright. It means a lot to me" I firmly say, almost glaring at them.
"Alright" Steve smile sweetly at me.
"You're welcome, my love" Eddie too smiles at me.
"And also... you'd never be his queen" Steve says confidently "you'll always be our queen"
"Shut it, Harrington" I playfully shove him, he gently grabs my hand and kiss it, once again.
"He's right, though" Eddie smirks "You're our queen"
"You guys are terrible"
"You love us" they both say.
I roll my eyes playfully.
"Now, try and get some sleep." Steve says.
I take a deep breath, anxiety starts to fill my mind.
"Hey," Eddie says" it's all good, love. I have to get back to my room tonight, but Stevie here will be with you all night. You're not alone"
"Okay... yeah... okay... thanks..." I take a deep breath and lay down on the bed.
"Everything will get better soon" Steve whispers to me as he kisses my head.
I close my eyes, they are still holding my hand, I breath deeply to calm my nerves and slowly I fall asleep.

Faded Memories (Eddie Munson x Fem!Reader) |Part 12|
Tumblr media
A/N: It's baaaaack!! I know this took literally for fucking ever and I am so sorry to make y'all wait so long. I'm hoping the length of this part makes up for the wait a bit.
You woke up right next to Eddie. You were in his arms as your head rested on his chest. You looked up to see his sleeping face. You kissed his cheek and went to get up but got pulled back into his embrace. "No I want you to stay here." Eddie grumbled out. You giggled. "Eds come on I gotta get up." You struggled against him.
He only grumbled again in protest. "Edddie." You whined. He peaked his head up. His eyes were squint from the harsh light coming into the room. His hair was getting into his face and it honestly looked like a chicken landed on it. You snorted out a laugh from seeing the expression on his face. "Just stay in bed with me. We can sleep in." He said gruffly.
You looked at the digital clock beside the bed. "Eddie its already about to be 12:30, how much more do you wanna sleep in?" You asked. He didn't answer. He only nuzzled his face into your neck. You caressed his hair as he laid practically on top of your chest. "We got a lot to do today. We have to find me a job since I was pretty much forced to quit unexpectedly last night. Then we need to tell our friends that my memory is back officially and-"
"Our friends already know your memory is back." He mumbled out into your neck. "No, only Nancy, Robin, and Steve. The kids don't know and neither does the rest of Hellfire. Plus the guys at your shop would be thrilled to find out my memory is back too." You explained. "I'm not going to the shop on my day off." Eddie deadpanned. "Okay then we can go to the shop tomorrow." You replied.
"Oh and let's not forget we need to talk about how we will go about making our marriage legally official. Personally I think we should just elope and get married at the courthouse." At hearing this Eddie has shot up and looked at you wide eyed. "What? Did you forget that I wanted us to get married?" He shook his head. "No that's not it. I just can't believe you would actually just want to elope and not hold a ceremony." He replied. "Why is that so hard to believe? I mean you already had an actual wedding before. You don't need another one just to marry me."
He still looked at you in disbelief. "You're telling me you don't want a real wedding? Isn't this something you have always dreamt of?" He asked you. "Why? Because I'm a woman? You automatically think I have always dreamt of walking down the isle dressed like a pretty princess in high heels? With a big bouquet of flowers. While everyone I know watches me shine?" You began to rant. Of course you have wanted that but the concept seemed odd to you. Over two months after Eddie's first wedding he will have another one with a completely different bride?
You surely weren't trying to be the topic of conversation going around in Hawkins. If the two of you went along with the idea of an actual wedding the whole damn town would be whispering about the spectacle. "If you're sure you don't want an actual wedding then I would be completely fine with eloping." Eddie stated breaking you out of your thoughts.
You gave him a nod. "Then its a plan. We'll elope."
The two of you ended up calling all of your friends and told them to meet at Nancy's office. You double checked with her before hand and she said it was okay. You were getting ready and Eddie was taking a shower when you heard a knock at the door.
You became a little nervous wondering if it was Kendra. You chucked the idea as you got closer to the door realizing she would just walk in if it was her.
You opened the door and your heart damn near sunk to your ass as you saw your mother. "Y/N M/N L/N. I thought you were in New York to go 'find yourself' but then I heard you were still in Hawkins. You lied to your father and I?! You didn't just lie to me you got married to Eddie Munson? Do you have anything to say for yourself?" She asked as she crossed her arms.
Your mouth was agape as you struggled to come up with words. "Well? I'm waiting." She said seeming impatient and frustrated. "Mom it really wasn't like that. Its much more complicated. I really was supposed to go to New York." You tried to reason. "So what you accidentally missed your flight and married your best friend instead? Did you really think your father and I wouldn't approve or something?"
You shook your head. "No thats not it. I didn't miss my flight to New York. Mom you didn't hear the news about what happened?" You asked her. She shook her head. "No you know damn well that our TV doesn't work that well and your father is too cheap to purchase a new one." She replied.
Your mom had no idea that for this whole time you were gone about what happened to you. You now understood why she was so upset. You forgot about your parents. For all she knew you were in New York and never let her know you were okay. "Mom my plane crashed." All color drained from her face. "It what?! That can't be true. I-I oh my god I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" She asked as she took a moment to examine you.
"I'm fine now mom. I had temporary amnesia and Eddie took care of me. The hospital wouldn't let him visit me until he told them he was my husband. When I woke up he told me the same thing, that he was my husband." You explained. She scrunched up her eyebrows. "I don't understand, why would he do a thing like that?" She asked.
"Because I realized I was actually in love with your daughter." You heard Eddie's voice emerge from behind you. Your mom crossed her arms as she looked at him. "It took you this long to realize that?" You turned your head to look at him. "No. It just took me this long to actually do something about it. I didn't know she had feelings for me too." He replied.
She huffed. "So then you two aren't actually married, just living together? Your father won't be happy about that. He's going to want you to move back home." Eddie wrapped his arms around you. "Well we were planning to actually still get married." He said.
You nodded and gave her a smile. "Well actually I decided we should just elope so that we-"
Your mother put her hand up for you to stop talking. "I'm sorry you want to what?"
"Elope...we don't need to have a big thing out of it bec-" You began to explain. "And you were okay with this idea?" Your mom asked as she looked at Eddie. He shot up his hands in defense. "Hey don't look at me. I tried to tell her we could still have a wedding but she wouldn't listen."
Your mother looked at you again. "Why on Earth would you want to elope? I thought you always wanted a wedding? Hell you even nagged me for eloping with your father myself."
"Thats because you guys deserved an actual wedding." You tried to reason. "And you don't?" She shot back. You remained quiet. "Your father and I eloped because I couldn't leave my parent's house until I was married and they didn't like your dad. Your grandfather refused to help if we had a wedding and we didn't have money at the time." Your mom explained.
You nodded. "I know mom." You looked down at your feet. "Then you know you have a choice to actually do a wedding or elope and regret it the rest of your life." She stated. You gave her another nod. "Y/N you are my only daughter. I want to see you happy. I would love to see you in a beautiful dress and walk down the isle with your father beside you. I know that in the end you will do whatever you want but I think you should take what I said into consideration."
You took a deep breath. "Okay mom." She smiled. "I love you honey bee." She gave you a hug. "I love you too mom." You hugged back. "Now I better receive an invitation to a proper wedding soon or the next time you see me you're going to get another earful." She stated as she pulled away. You let out a laugh. "Okay I get it mom." Your mother was about to head downstairs. "Hey mom?" She looked at you. "Yes Honey Bee?" "Aren't you worried that people are gonna talk about how Eddie is marrying me less than 3 months after marrying someone else?"
"Hon, people are always gonna talk no matter what. They don't directly affect your life so don't let their words prevent you from being happy. Besides, since when did you start caring about what people say to you? I thought I raised you different than how I was raised. I raised you to keep your head held high and to march your feet to the beat of your own drum." She advised.
You knew your mother was right. The woman could be a damn sage if she wanted to. You learned that the best thing you could ever do for yourself in life is always listen to her. "I love you mom." You smiled at her. "Love you too Honey Bee." With that she left.
You shut the door of the apartment and leaned back on it. You looked crossed your arms as you looked at Eddie. "Well I guess we are having a wedding after all." He had a huge smile on his face and went to embrace you. "Have I ever told you how much I loved your mom?" Eddie asked as he hugged you.
"You might've mentioned it once or twice in the past, yeah." You laughed. He pulled away from you. "Now go get ready so we can head out. I'll make us some late breakfast in the meantime." You gave him a nod and went to the bathroom. You brushed your teeth and went to to take a quick shower. Afterwards you walked out the bathroom in a towel and went to your shared bedroom to get dressed.
You searched your drawers and decided to throw on a Fleetwood Mac t-shirt and black jeans with your white All-Stars. You threw your hair up in a side ponytail and walked out of the bedroom. You smiled at the smell of food. "Mmm something smells pretty damn good." You stated as you walked over to see Eddie placing some scrambled eggs next to two slices of bacon on a plate.
He handed the plate to you. "Bone apple squeeze or whatever it is the French say." He said. You burst out into laughter. "It's bon appetit." You corrected him. "Gesundheit" He replied. You laughed again. "No babe I wasn't sneezing I was telling you how the French say it. It's bon appetit." You explained. "Could've fooled me." You rolled your eyes and put your plate down on the table and got yourself a cup of water then took a seat at the table.
You began to eat. Eddie walked over shortly after with his plate of food. "Tastes good Eds." You stated. "Good. I'm not much of a chef." He sat down and began eating too. "Hey babe?" He looked up. "Now that the cat's out of the bag about my memory being back and all, can you tell me what happened between you and Kendra? From what I thought, you guys got married that day of the plane crash. Then I wake up and you decided I was going to be your wife." Your curiosity got the better of you and you just had to know.
He took a deep breath. "Well, after the ceremony when we officially got married, I went to the backroom where I last saw you to look for you since I didn't see you anywhere else." "Okay." You nodded for him to continue. "That's when I found that note you left me about having to leave to catch your flight. By the time I finished reading it and I realized that Nancy, Robin, and Steve helped you to move, I was pissed." You furrowed your eyebrows. "How come?" "Well they did that behind my back and let you leave Hawkins. So I confronted them. The girls were just as pissed too because they blamed me for you leaving, which, to be fair, they were right. They stormed out of the backroom and Steve tried to level with me."
"But what does this have to do with Kendra and you?" You asked. "Let me get there." He replied. "So anyways, that's when Kendra came into the room bitching about me leaving her out there alone when we just got married. I personally didn't give a shit at the time, I just wanted to figure out where you were so I could bring you back. After that I think it was Robin who came rushing in for us to come over to the bar to watch the TV. That's when we saw the news about your crash." He took in a shaky breath and his eyes started watering as he remembered the sinking feeling in his gut when he thought you were gone forever.
He cleared his throat. "Anyways Robin figured you might still be alive but in one of the hospitals in Indianapolis so we frantically looked in the phone book for the name of the hospital. When I called they were too busy to confirm if you were alive so I decided to head there myself to find out for sure. Of course Nancy, Robin, and Steve wanted to come too."
"Wait, and Hellfire club didn't want to come with?" You asked. "Oh, I don't know. They were in the corner away somewhere doing, god knows what at the time." "Oh." "Anyways. By the point that's when Kendra got pissed because she didn't want me to leave the reception. She knew it was a matter of life and death and she didn't even give a shit if you were dead. All she cared about was the stupid wedding. When I realized she didn't care about the most important person in the world to me, I couldn't be with her anymore. I decided to get our marriage annulled and that was pretty much it."
"Wow, I knew Kendra could be a bit of a pretentious bitch, but damn she wasn't even concerned in the slightest if I was okay?" You asked. "Nope." "Damn. Well good fucking riddance. I never liked her anyways." You responded. "Apparently nobody did. I just have a shit judge of character."
"I don't think you have a shit judge of character." He looked up at you with a raised eyebrow. "Okay your judge of character was a little questionable, but I think you're getting better now." His softened as he gave you a small smile. "Thanks."
The two of you finished eating and left the apartment via Eddie's notorious, slightly more questionable than his judge of character's, van. When you got to Nancy and Jonathan's place you noticed you two were actually the last to arrive. "Oh great, we're the ones who made the invite and ended up being the last ones to our own scheduled hangout. Good fucking going, Munson." You half joked.
He snapped his head over to look at you so quickly you could've sworn you heard his neck crack. "How is it my fault?! Last I checked it was your mother who decided to drop by and cause us to be late." He sassed. You blinked a few times not expecting that response. "Well then." Was all you said as you hopped out the van and went inside the ex-diner. Eddie was speeding right behind you.
"Well look who finally decided to grace us with their presence." Dustin said with a very disapproving and sarcastic tone. "Yes, I'm sorry that we were late it was my mother who had stalled us earlier before we left." You said very pointedly and gave Eddie a criminally offensive side eye.
Nancy cleared her throat. "So why did you bring us all to my office for?" She asked. "Right. Um, so as you may all know. I was recently in a very dramatic and tragic plane crash that thankfully didn't kill me. Which by the way some of you," You looked over at the Hellfire Club. "Hadn't come to visit me since then."
"Um excuse me, I call bullshit, we wanted to visit you, Eddie was the one tha-" Eddie made quick big gestures for Dustin to quit talking immediately with his hands. You saw the gestures from the corner of your eye and looked over at Eddie to see him try and play it cool by whistling while looking the other direction. "Eddie what?" You asked Dustin as you furrowed your eyebrows.
It got quiet all of a sudden making the silence awkward. "He told us that you didn't want visitors and that meeting new people would make you hysterical." Will suddenly spoke up. "He what?!" You snapped your head over to look over at Eddie who was avoiding your gaze. "Hysterical? Were you trying to make me sound like a mental health patient?" You asked him.
He gave a small shrug. "Well...technically you were, your mental health had memory loss." He said quietly. "Tha-That's not the same!"
"I feel like we just accidentally opened a can of worms for them." Lucas stated. "Yeah, no, shit Sherlock." Dustin replied. "Okay man, just back off, it's your fault that they're arguing anyways." Lucas snapped back. "I didn't do anything, I was just simply trying to clear my good name. Will here was the one who actually spilled the goddamn beans."
"Me? You clearly started it and just left Y/N hanging without a clear answer I-"Will began but cut off by Steve. "Okay guys knock it off. Y/N, Eddie, for the love of God would you guys just actually tell us what's going on?"
You took a deep breath. "I wanted to announce to everyone that I officially have my memories back." Everyone cheered. "And?" Eddie nudged you lightly. "And we are making our marriage legit." Everyone kind of clapped but some of them were a little slow as they all looked at each other in confusion. "I'm sorry did I miss something? Your marriage? When did you guys get married?" Mike asked. "We didn't" You replied. "That's why we are going to make it legit." You responded.
"I think what Mike is trying to say is that the way that you say it implies that you two are somehow already married." Dustin chimed in. "Oh that. Yes, so since you guys didn't already know, while my memory was out Eddie took me in and had me believing he was actually my husband this whole time. When I got my memory back I just decided to go with it. Last night we agreed we want to be actually married to each other legally." You explained.
"I am somehow more confused then I was before." Jeff said suddenly. "Its a really long story. The important thing is that we are getting married." You replied then looked over at Eddie and gave him a smile. "So....that's it?" Dustin asked. "What do you mean, 'ThAt'S iT'?" You asked him confused. "Were you expecting something else?" He shrugged. "Well I don't know I just would have liked something that was more...I don't know...dramatic?" He tried to find the words. Your mouth was wide open. You looked over at Eddie. In your mind you were hoping he'd handle his child before you blew a gasket.
"Man, what are you talking about? They just announced they were getting married." Lucas tried to reason. "She just woke up from a coma literally two months ago!" He exclaimed. "Sure but did anyone really doubt that they were going to end up together?" Dustin asked as if it was obvious.
"Yes!" Everyone exclaimed.
"He married somebody else." Erica reminded him. "Yeah but for only about a week. That hardly counts." He argued. Eddie huffed. "Well little sheep. If its a touch of drama and shock you look for, then don't you worry." You looked over at him confused. There wasn't anything else to tell. "We're also planning to have a baby."
"What?!" Multiple people exclaimed. "If that's supposed to be an April Fools prank it isn't funny." Robin stated. "Eds we haven't really worked the details out on that." You whispered loudly. "What's there to work out? I mean with what happened last night after I kind of-" You rushed to cover his mouth to spare everyone in the room the trauma. "You then plastered a nervous smile as you looked at the group. "Please tell me you're joking." Nancy stated.
"Dustin you just had to push to hear something dramatic didn't you?" Mike asked. "Well how the hell was I supposed to know they were already planning to start a family? I just wanted them to justify calling all of us over to the same place at once when I was in the middle of creating my very detailed practice diaroma of how I wanted to eventually propose to Suzie next year."
"Dustin you have been making that damned diaorama for over a year. Just put us all out of our misery and just propose to her for the love of Mike!" Jeff exclaimed. Mike had a very serious face and looked unamused. "Sorry." Jeff apologized. "Nonsense, it needs to be perfect." Dustin stated. "Well your need for perfection caused all of us some blissful ignorance." Erica sassed. "Well sorry I was unphased by them wanting to get married. So I wanted some entertainment. Sue me."
"You challenged the Dungeon Master. Why would you challenge him like this?"Gareth asked. "Okay guys seriously we are standing right here. We can hear everything you are saying." You decided to state.
"Well yeah, that's the point." Erica replied. You tried to blink away the shock you felt. "I don't see what's so bad about us starting a family." Eddie finally decided to speak up. "Well typically I've seen couples you know not wake up one morning and decide to get married and then have a baby seconds later." Robin chimed in. "But then again I'm not straight so maybe I can't comment on what's normal."
"I'm not straight either and I'm pretty sure this is definitely not normal." Will stated. "We aren't a normal couple though." Eddie replied. "We are anything but normal. It might not make sense to you guys but to us it does." You added.
"Y/N, I think what we are all trying to say is that we really don't want you guys to accidentally hurt each other...again." Nancy tried to reason.
I nodded. "I get it Nance. I honestly appreciate you wanting to look out for us."
"I'm mostly trying to look out for you. I was the one who was there baawling your eyes out because of him. That really wasn't that long ago. As much as I want to believe this is going to work out for the both of you I have my doubts." Nancy admitted. "Maybe you forgot but he was married to someone else merely a few months ago. He only seemed to really care about you when he knew he couldn't control you anymore."
"Hey whoa, no, hold on. What the hell Nancy? What kinda guy do you take me for? I would never want to control her." Eddie stated trying to shut this shit down.
Nance glared at him. "No? Then what do you call over a month of lying to her and making her believe she was married to you? Looked like manipulation to me."
"Where is this coming from all of a sudden? Do you not want to see us happy?" Eddie asked.
"I don't care if you're happy Munson. I care about Y/N being happy. You weren't there to pick up the pieces of her heart that you broke. I don't trust you and I sure as shit don't trust you to be the father of any child." Nancy spat out.
Eddie was speechless. He knew Nancy wasn't his fan. Especially not after you got hurt but he didn't expect this. He was angry. Not entirely angry at her. It was actually more with himself. He was his own enemy. "You're right." Was all he muttered as he walked out of her small office space.
"You see? He is a God damn coward." Nancy pointed out. "What the hell Nancy?" You shot her the dirtiest look at her. "What?" she seemed confused. "Was that really necessary? I know Eddie isn't perfect. He knows he isn't perfect but he has been busting his ass everyday to make up for the pain he caused me. It's not fair for you to just throw it back in his face like that. He would never something like that to you and neither would I." I felt my face getting red with anger. "Eddie and I will get officially married and start a family together whether either of you like it or not."
I began to head towards the door. Then turned back around. "And another thing, Eddie would be an amazing father. He practically raised the Hellfire club like his kids. How fucking dare you imply he would be a shitty father. He knows what it's like to have a shitty father and he is the type of man to do everything in his power to make sure he won't be like his dad. Nance I love you. You're my best friend but if this is how you plan to treat my husband and future father of my children I can't have you around us." With that I made my exit to look for Eddie.
There was deafening silence after you walked out. "I knew I shouldn't have abandoned my diorama for this." Dustin said finally breaking the silence. "I'm going to kill you." Steve said.

As soon as Eddie got home, he collapsed onto his mystery-stained mattress and stared up at his ceiling. There was no backing out now, it wasn’t long until he would be meeting you at the movie theatre. Pulling himself to his feet, he started making his way to the mirror. His glance landed on the cherry red guitar hanging from his wall, as he let out a deep breath thinking back to what Robin had said to him the night before.
“You play guitar and you're in a band, people find that attractive”.
He nodded to himself, meeting his own eyes as his ringed fingers attempted to tame his hair. Right on cue, his bedroom door flung open as he quickly tried to mask the shameless grooming. Robin made a beeline for the closet while Steve suddenly became entranced by the posters of heavy metal legends that littered his walls.
“How the hell did you guys get in here?”. He growled as Robin pushed some coat hangers aside and laid his clothes on the bed. She gasped and held a shirt over her torso to show Steve, his eyebrows raised as he rushed over to get a closer look. “Hey! Lisa, Louise, a little help here?”. He wiggled his hands around to get their attention, as they shared a look of mutual confusion. His hand reached for the bridge of his nose, using all his willpower to summon some patience.
“Lisa and Louise Burns? Stephen King? The Shining? ”. It quickly became obvious that the reference was lost on them. He immediately gave up and returned to styling his makeshift mullet in the mirror. Robin chuckled, rolling her eyes as she glanced over at Steve.
“God, he’s turning into you ”. Steve scoffed at her remark, his hands finding their way to his hips. Eddie ignored them, focusing on the task at hand as they had one of their usual back and forths.
“What is that such a bad thing? Good hair maintenance is a great trait to have, sure it might take an extra hour in the morning-” Robin scoffed back, her mouth wide.
“HOUR? Steve Harrington, you are not going to stand here and tell me you spend, sixty whole minutes on your hair. How do you get anything done?”. Eddie turned around and clapped his hands together, making them both look over at him.
“Alright, you two knuckleheads have been here ten minutes and neither of you has been gracious enough to explain why you’re rummaging through my shit like feral raccoons.” He widened his eyes, still receiving no response as Robin picked up an outfit she laid out and held it against his frame with a nod of approval. He really began to wonder how he’d ended up friends with these idiots. Eddie sighed, hanging his head. “This is about tonight isn’t it? What, you don’t trust me to not fuck it up, is that it?”.
“No, Eddie. We just…we know this is sorta new for you and thought you might need some moral support”. Steve nodded in agreement, giving him a hearty thumbs up. “We just wanted to ease the pressure a little, I thought maybe I could help you pick out the right outfit and Steve could give you some advice on how to, you know…” She made incoherent hand gestures. “Woo them”. A laugh escaped his lips, as he shook his head. He couldn’t believe that he was agreeing to this. He reached for the outfit she had picked out and held it against his frame, checking himself out in the mirror.
“See, what I was thinking was that we could put a nice jacket over this? Maybe some combat boots?”. His smile was warm and thankful, he simply nodded and headed to the bathroom to change. The mirror on his bathroom cabinet was much smaller but gave him a better look at himself. He was surprised to find himself liking it. Or at least not hating it. With a small smile, he reentered the bedroom and did a slight turn, modelling himself for his friends. They had settled on a black sabbath shirt that he had previously cut into a muscle tee, a pair of black jeans (paired with his chains, of course) and a pair of black combat boots, just like Robin had envisioned.
Steve let out a whistle and nodded to himself, impressed by his friend’s styling skills. “Looking good, Munson”. Eddie grinned deviously, patting Steve on the shoulder.
“Careful hot shot, I’m not off the market just yet”. Steve chuckled, shaking his head at his shameless flirty nature, as Eddie turned back towards the mirror. The more he looked at himself, the more it all started to grow on him. He had to admit that it had given him a little boost of confidence that he was lacking before they had shown up. Now he was just wondering what you’d think when you saw him.
Nervous was an understatement, it had been almost a decade since you’d hung out and he wasn’t sure how to act around you. And the same question swirled around and around in his mind, was this a date? He was broken out of his thoughts by Steve, practically shaking him out of his mindless daze. “Hey, Munson. Listen don’t get too in your head about this, alright? You just gotta be cool, babes dig cool.” A chuckle slipped through his lips, babes dig cool . “I’m gonna give you some tips for the road. Number one: The yawn and stretch, classic move, 99% effective. Number two-“.
“You know Harrington, I think this is some really solid advice and I really want to make sure I get this down. Maybe you could write it out for me?”. Completely oblivious to his sarcasm, Steve nodded and happily headed to the kitchen to grab a paper and a pen. The second he left the room, Eddie locked the door, hovering over to his drawers and pulling out a handkerchief to shove in his back pocket. Less than a minute later he heard the door handle jiggle, Robin sighing at his immaturity. “Sorry Stevie, the door must be jammed.”
“You know he’s gonna figure it out eventually.” He looked back at Robin, the door handle jiggling before it went silent. He’d clearly given up. “You don’t have to be a jerk, you know he’s just trying to help you”. Eddie laughed, he knew what he was trying to do he just didn’t have the mental capacity for that right now. Not when he had to pick which cologne would be best at masking the smell of cigarettes, booze and weed.
“Hey, I took your help, didn’t I? See? Total stud.” He spun around, his hands stretched out as he showed off his outfit. “I somehow feel like Steve and I have different approaches to flirting”. He picked up a cologne bottle that had a little left in the bottom and sniffed at the nozzle before spritzing himself with it. Suddenly they heard a loud tumble, and they noticed Steve dusting himself off by the open window.
“Not cool, man.” He muttered, running his hand through his hair. Eddie glanced down at his watch, as he started to panic. He should probably leave soon so he would have time to buy your tickets.
“Right, everyone out. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.” Both his friends groaned, as Eddie pushed them out of the trailer and towards Steve’s beemer. “And no telling Henderson about this, alright? That little brat already knows way too much about my personal life”. They both begrudgingly agreed as he saluted them goodbye and jumped into his van.
The drive was nerve-wracking, to say the least, but the deafening sound of Iron Maiden was just enough to drown out his intrusive thoughts. But not by that much. He pulled up to the building and his eyes adjusted to the brightness, it was a crisp dark night and the golden bulbs of the Hawk Theatre sign shone beams that reflected onto the street. In big letters, it read “CARRIE: 10TH ANNIVERSARY”. He smirked to himself, Eddie was a big horror fan and Stephen King was a horror icon. If this was a date, it was the perfect setting. After buying your tickets at the booth, he pulled out a cigarette from the pocket of his leather jacket and took a couple of drags. It calmed his nerves until he looked down at the time anxiously, quickly stomping out his cigarette on the ground. Almost a second later he felt a pair of hands over his eyes, he froze in his spot for a moment.
“Guess who?”. He chuckled, hearing the familiar sound of your voice, letting out a deep breath before smirking to himself.
“Sigourney Weaver?”. You scoffed, slightly offended.
“Younger”.
Without missing a beat.
“Molly Ringwald?”. You paused and slowly removed your hands, raising your eyebrows at him in suspicion. He finally turned to look back and struggled to catch his breath, drinking in the sight of you.
“And how do you know who Molly Ringwald is?”. His shoulders shrugged as he failed to contain the huge smirk on his face, watching how cute yours looked when it was all scrunched up.
“What, a guy can’t like Evil Dead and Sixteen Candles?”. He teased as a devious grin crept upon your face, and then he realised his mistake. “I should have just said The Breakfast Club, huh?”.
“Eddie Munson, a secret lover of romcoms, who would have guessed?”. Your smile was bright and wide and he was memorised by the way his name sounded on your lips.
“Hey sweetheart, tease all you like. Just don’t forget who has the tickets.” He grinned, holding them out and waving them in front of your face. You immediately went to grab them as he pulled them away and shook his head at you, your second attempt was just as unsuccessful as he held them above his head so you couldn’t reach them.
“This was way easier when we were the same height.” You crossed your arms over your chest, as he chuckled at your pouting and playfully shoved you. It was hard to stay mad at him when he had that sweet look on his face, even with the new hair and clothes he still exuded a warmth that always made you feel safe.
“All yours, cross my heart”. He used his pointer finger to draw a cross against his heart, before holding out your ticket for you to take. You sighed and smiled, taking the ticket from him.
He nodded and bowed, extending his arm so you could take the first steps through the doors. A giggle escaped your lips as you curtsied and made your way into the theatre. Hawk was one of the more intimate theatres you’d been to but it had been here since before you left. Moving away from small town life wasn’t the worst thing, but there was something about Hawkins that was comforting. It was one of those small, humdrum towns that were cut off from the rest. Independent businesses, family-owned or even just ones that you’ve always known to be there. This theatre was one of them. You both stood in line at the concession stand waiting patiently to get the giant bucket of popcorn they did, for traditional purposes of course.
“Jesus, this hasn’t changed at all. It’s exactly how I remember from when we were kids”. Eddie watched as you glanced around the room and he looked over at you with those big brown puppy dog eyes. “Did you know the last time we came here was when this movie first came out? Man, I still remember how scared I was, I couldn’t sleep for like a week”. The long-haired boy chuckled, thinking back to when you would beg him to sleep on your floor to keep you safe. And how that lasted half an hour, when he became very aware of the undiscovered darkness underneath your bed. The nights would end with you both sharing your twin-sized mattress until you were sure the nightmares were over. And maybe for a little while after that.
“Oh, how could I forget? That was the first movie I ever snuck into. At least I’ve found the root of my rebellious streak, imagine what a good church boy I could have been if I hadn’t met the likes of you.” He joked, making you gasp in shock at his accusation. He was so dramatic. You missed that.
The line had died down as you teased each other, Eddie not noticing you were next up.
“Seven years and this what I get? Just for that you’re paying for my popcorn”. Before he could argue, you grabbed the bucket and walked towards your screen as he awkwardly pulled out his wallet and silently nodded at the cashier. He noticed you chuckling at him as he shook his head with a smile and followed you inside to where you were sitting.
You settled into your seats, happily munching on the popcorn as you offered him some before he huffed with a small smirk. “Offering me some of the popcorn I paid for? How thoughtful.” You rolled your eyes and stuck your tongue at him as he did the same and you struggled to keep your wide grin at bay. He was cute. Very cute and it was annoying.
It didn’t take long for the movie to start, and as the lights dimmed Eddie began to feel a little nervous. It wasn’t lost on him that the main reason teenagers came to see horror movies was so they could get their dates scared, coaxing them to jump in their laps. Or some just used it as an excuse to make out in the dark. But not you two. You both loved this movie, but Eddie could hardly focus on the view in front of him when he was enjoying the view next to him way more. The flickering lights shone against your face and your bright, wide, eyes were entranced. There was a minor jump scare as everyone yelled and your hand found his.
He froze.
You didn’t even react, you remained attached to him and would even squeeze his knuckles when you got a little frightened. He was emotionless, staring at your hand in his and praying that his palms weren’t as sweaty as they felt. Just as he thought everything was going so well. Ouch. He felt a piece of candy hit the back of his head, as he snapped his neck to check behind him and noticed the faces of the two people he wished to be anywhere else but here.
“Yawn and stretch!”. Steve shout-whispered, Eddie’s eyes growing wide in anger. He was lucky that you were too into the movie to hear him. Robin chuckled at her idiotic best friend, shaking her head at his attempts at blending in.
“God, way to be subtle, Steve.” She kicked his foot with her own as he let out another loud yelp, she was tired of this. “Move your clown feet dingus, I need to pee”. He groaned and moved in his legs, her eyes still looking back at him in disappointment as she made her way down the stairs. As she turned her head, she missed a step and started tumbling down the stairs and landing face upright by your and Eddie’s feet.
She had never seen Eddie this mad before. She was positive that if you weren’t sitting right next to him he would probably murder her. Her fingers tinkled awkwardly, as your eyes glanced down at the short-haired girl. “Holy shit! are you okay?”. Your hand immediately reached out to help her up as she took it and rose to her feet, very aware of her friend’s eyes bore into her soul.
“Peachy. Sorry to interrupt, enjoy your d-d-dirty the floor is so dirty, they should clean this way more. Floor maintenance is super…important. Bye”. She zoomed down the remaining stairs towards the bathroom, stumbling slightly on another step but catching herself as Eddie held his head in his hands. She waved slightly before walking through the double doors towards the ladies’ room. You chuckled at her awkwardness and then paused for a moment, cocking your eyebrows.
“Wait, don’t you work with her at the video store?”. He sighed glancing back at Steve and shaking his head at you with a tight-lipped smile.
“Nope. Never seen her before in my life.” He stood up abruptly, as your eyes slowly travelled up to him, noticing the hand he was offering out for you. “I’ve got Carrie at my place, and it’s a whole lot quieter”. A few people started to yell as he partially blocked the screen but he zoned them out, wiggling his fingers at you. With a wide grin, you grabbed a hold of his hand as he led you out to the parking lot.
-
It had been many long years since you'd seen Eddie before coming back to Hawkins; it had been just as long since you'd seen that ramshackle trailer park too. When you were around twelve years old, your dad decided to sign up for the Army. Your family had been broke and struggling, and it seemed like the best way to get out of Hawkins and move out into a proper house. And sure, it was nice at first. Army bases offered decent housing and things to do and other kids to meet, and the money wasn't terrible. But about the same time you moved to get a fresh start, your parents started having…. issues. Dad was never home to see you and Mom was worried sick about him never being around. It didn't take long for things to unravel, and soon the two of you left it all behind.
Fast forward a few years and you'd moved away again, she'd found a new man and remarried and the dust finally started to settle. Until one day your stepdad came home. He was just offered a new job at a fancy insurance company, and where was it? In goddamn Hawkins, Indiana. Everything about it felt surreal. Small towns never really grew into something new, but Eddie Munson certainly did. You just wished you'd been around to see it. When you stepped out of his van and onto familiar soil, you were in a mindless daze. It was like you never left.
“Must feel pretty creepy, huh? Being back where it all started”. His hand patted the top of his van, as his glance circled the trailer park. Still too stunned to form a sentence you just nodded your head, watching him push open the door to his trailer. The next thing that came into view was an eye sore, Wayne’s trucker obsession never seemed to fade and now there was a decade worth of memorabilia added to the living room walls.
“Ed? You didn’t tell me you brought company, would have spruced up in here”. Eddie chuckled, he didn’t recognise you either. It took everything in you not to bring Wayne into a bone-crushing hug, so you patiently waited for his nephew to enlighten him.
“Forget sprucing, we should have been rolling out the red for this one. Don’t remember our old neighbour, Uncle Wayne?”. It took a second until he glanced over you and his eyes widened, your smile grew even bigger as you jumped into his arms and held him tight.
“Darlin! Wow, haven’t you gotten big? I still remember when you were a ‘lil tike running around in your diapers with Eddie.” You held back an embarrassed blush, leaning away from him and struggling to wipe the grin from your face. He was always so good to you, kraft dinners and crappy reality television were how you’d spent the better part of your childhood. And you wouldn’t change it for the world.
“God, Wayne I missed you so much. It’s so great to see you!”. He nodded and smirked, his eyes flickered between you and Eddie for a minute as if he was trying to figure something out. “How were the new neighbours? Can’t imagine they were as pleasant as me”. You teased, Eddie suddenly becoming enraged.
“You’re telling me, they have fucking sticks up their butts! They’re always on my ass about playing my music, it’s infuriating”. Eddie whined, crossing his arms as he lent against the kitchen counter.
“Well son, you do play it awfully loud…”. Wayne quipped, causing his nephew to look back at him shocked by those big brown eyes.
“That’s beside the point, it’s the principle”. You rolled your eyes and scoffed, had he always been this much of a drama queen? With a small chuckle, Wayne sighed and shook his head.
“Hell am I glad you’re back, at least now it ain’t just me who’s having to deal with him”. He clasped a hand on Eddie’s head and shook it slightly with a grin, you giggled at his teasing watching the act of affection ease him. “Alright kids, I’ll be down the street having a couple with the guys, give you time to catch up. Take care of yourself, ya hear? Don’t be a stranger”. He half hugged your side and you pecked his cheek with a soft ‘you too’ before he winked at you both and headed out.
It was silent and the air felt thick all of a sudden. “Well I didn’t plan on the company, so my room looks like a bomb hit but I have some horror flicks on tape and…oh, do you…do you smoke?”. You could sense the fear in his eyes, smoking is a deal breaker for a lot of people and he prayed it wasn’t for you.
“Marijuana?”. He just nodded silently, holding his breath. “Why, you got some stashed somewhere?”. A laugh escaped him, if you only knew. You followed behind into his bedroom and realised that he wasn’t kidding, it had looked like a tornado had flown through. Guitar picks, cigarette butts and empty beer cans littered the floor. And oh that smell . He pulled out a bottle of fabric refresher and sprayed the room, you coughed at the sudden stench of chemicals and opened his window a crack.
“Right, I’m going in the kitchen to cook us mac ‘n’ cheese.” You wandered into the kitchen and pulled trash bags from underneath the sink. “And you’re gonna throw out your trash, I don’t care how pretty you are, I am not sitting in your filth”. He took the bag and rolled his eyes with a sigh, then he turned back to face you with a wide smirk.
“You think I’m pretty?”. Yeah, pretty insufferable. With a single sharp look in your eyes, he dropped his smile and gulped. He puffed out the bag and stood up straight, saluting you before he started tossing empty bottles inside. This was going to be a long night.
After the room was mostly clean and you had both devoured your pasta, Eddie rolled the biggest joint you’d ever seen. It had been a while since you’d smoked, so when it hit the back of your throat you let out a cough that had him in stitches. You shoved him playfully before you began to ease into it, he finished up and pressed out the lit end with a sizzle. He crawled up the bed and lent over the edge, struggling to push the VHS inside the player. You were a second away from helping him as it ate the tape and he let it play with a proud smile.
You couldn’t speak for him but the first time you saw this movie was the last time you saw it. Those nightmares were really something and though you’d grown into a huge horror movie fan over the years, everyone had those movies that scarred them as a kid. A part of you hoped Eddie had grown out of the fear and would be able to make you feel a little safer. He didn’t seem to be super phased when you were just watching it at the movies.
In the scene that played out, Carrie is in the locker room with her female classmates and she starts her period, she then screams in horror at the blood. Eddie shifts in his seat looking visually uncomfortable, his glance turns to the screen and then slowly back at you as Carrie bursts a light bulb in the shower. You can tell something is playing on his mind, as you lay your head back on the pillow.
“Out with it, Munson”. He seemed shocked that you could sense his eyes on you, even after all this time he was still so predictable. You could see the clogs turning inside his head, trying to figure out the best way to phrase whatever question he had to share.
“Is that actually how it…happens? You know when you…” You almost snorted at the question, he couldn’t even say the word. He tiptoed around it like it was taboo. A chuckle slipped through your lips as you decided to have some fun, veering around to face him.
“Yeah, I can totally burst light bulbs with my mind”. You were being sarcastic, but you could still sense that a part of him believed it. You just rolled your eyes and hit your head against the pillow as there was a sudden burst of lightning and Eddie just about shrieked. The power went out for a second, and the emergency generator must have started up. Suddenly the lights switched back on and revealed a terrified Eddie clutching to your chest like a scared little boy. It was impossible to hold back the laughter that you felt as you held your stomach.
“So not funny!.” He seemed a little mad but you didn't care, you were never gonna let him live this down. Wayne wandered through the door, guess neither of you heard him come back in. Eddie quickly separated himself from you despite really needing to be held right now.
“You alright darlin’? I heard you scream?”. There was nothing to stop the tears falling from your eyes as you laughed yourself into a fit. Eddie was pissed, reassuring Wayne you were both fine as he awkwardly nodded back and closed the door. Your laughing didn’t subside as he growled under his breath and shook his head.
“Alright, that’s it”. He muttered, turning to lay on top of you, reaching fingers out to tickle you. The once melodic laughter melted into playful fear as you screamed and told him to stop, using your free limbs to kick at him. He knew how much you had hated being tickled since you were young and nothing had changed. The more you squirmed, the more he chuckled to himself, watching the tears of laughter falling from your eyes.
“Eddie, you bastard! Truce, TRUCE!”. He sighed and slowly moved his hands from your stomach, watching you relax against the bed in a state of exhaustion. The movie continued playing but it was hard to pay attention since he was still on top of you. It felt stuffy all of a sudden. The air became thicker as you stared at each other for a bit too long and struggled to think of what you could say to break the tension.
“We should probably finish the movie”. His voice was small and anxious in a way that felt different to his usual demeanour. He had always been confident from a young age, eccentric and theatrical. When you would play Dungeon and Dragons, he was always the most skilled Dungeon Master.
You were young and it was the 70s. It took a lot of allowances to save up for the boards and books, but you all worked together to make it happen. The party consisted of Jeff, Grant, you and Eddie and you were the strongest party Hawkins had ever seen. You remembered your Dad having to physically drag you from Eddie’s trailer when you both stayed up late brainstorming ideas for campaigns. He was always confident and open, especially with you.
Then it started to dawn on you, you couldn’t pretend like the past seven or eight years hadn’t changed something in him or your relationship with each other. You were both adults, he was the same Eddie deep down but there was so much growing he had done that you weren’t around for (and vice versa). He had sat up and moved a few inches away from you and you started to wonder if he was seriously upset about your teasing.
“Eddie?”. You called, staring up at the ceiling blankly as his head turned to face you. “I missed a lot when I was gone didn’t I?”. The room had become clearer than it was when you first stepped in and you wondered if it was your new epiphany or the weed.
“Yeah. Yeah, you did.” He sounded sad about it, and you immediately felt a prang of guilt and sorrow in your chest. Why did you have to leave? Why couldn’t you have kept your best friend and grown up with him the way you’d always talked about?
“Hey, it’s okay, alright? I mean shit, I thought I’d never see you again. I mean…I’m so different now, what if...do you still wanna be around me? I don’t want you to feel like you needed to reach out because we were friends before…” You sat up and stared back at him, he was insecure. Eddie Munson. He felt like he wasn’t someone you would want as your best friend anymore.
“You’re a fucking idiot”. You blurted, his eyes widened at your response as he held back a gasp. He blinked at you a few times before you chuckled and shook your head. “Eddie. The second I got back here, I looked everywhere for you. Do you not remember how shattered I was when I had to leave? Dude, I was a fucking wreck for like a month afterwards. You were my best friend! I knew you before I knew how to shit by myself!”. This earned you a hearty laugh as he shoved you and held his hand over his face with a huge smirk.
“I’m serious, Eds. I don’t want this break to change anything, we have forever to learn all the new weird quirks we picked up from when we were apart. I just can’t handle…I just don’t wanna lose you like last time. And who’s to say it won’t be the other way around?”. He smiled weakly, his eyes sparkling as he stared back at you.
“Impossible, sweetheart.” You grinned back at him, both your smiles growing as you realised how lucky you were to have found each again.
“Sweetheart”. You repeated, looking down at your jeans as you picked at the loose threads. “Have you always been such a flirt?”. He seemingly enjoyed the teasing, grinning wider now.
“Hmm. Must be one of my new quirks”. His smirk was smug, it felt more like Eddie. And this felt like a step in the right direction.

Hi there, can I request a part for eddie munson a/b/o fic where they have a kid. Where eddie goes into one of his mating ruts, the whole day he is acting weird and not letting reader kiss him or anything as he knew the consequences of it progressing and he didn't want reader to go through the pain. Sorry if this is too non-specific and if you don't feel like writing it, it's okay. Thank you ❤️

You sure can nature's ninja 💖

Eddie was being weird.
Like avoiding his mate weird.
And it was annoying (name) didn't appreciate Eddie actively leaving the room or making excuses.
"Are you two fighting or something?" Robin asked (name) who held a nine month old (sons name) "I don't think so... He just suddenly started acting like this the other day"
"Want me to talk to him?"
"Nah... I will deal with it tonight when he can't avoid me"
Robin laughed at this, knowing (name) was a force to be reckoned with and Eddie being suspicious was definitely a good reason.
Eddie normally always sat with (name) or have (name) sit on him but now he was beside Johnathan talking about god knows what, not feeling the intensity of (name)s stare but boy howdy could everyone else.
"(Name) I'm gonna uh stay back with Dustin and the others aight? Steve and Robbie are gonna drive you home" Eddie said at a small distance from (name) and when (name) took a step forward Eddie took a step back.
(Name) felt his heart drop at this, visibly upset at his actions and just stared at him with a heartbroken face and mumbled "fine... whatever" before turning and walking off and clutching the product of their love and Eddie realized he fucked up bad.
"Go fix it with my brother before I hit you with your own dnd binder" Dustin said and Eddie was already chasing after (name) who was strapping their son into Steve's car with tears rolling down his face.
"Baby..." Eddie said heartbroken, his alpha instincts kicking in to comfort his mate and Steve and Robbie gave them some space "what do you want, don't you have shit to do" (name) mumbled and refused to look at Eddie who looked like a kicked puppy "baby...I'm sorry"
"Why are you avoiding me." (Name) said skipping his apologies and demanding answers, justifiably pissed at his mate "I get it, I didn't bounce back perfectly and I got a lot of stretch marks and the scar and I'm not the prettiest rig---"
"Baby!" Eddie cut off, that was something they were also going to talk about "it's not you're sexy body but we are going to talk about you not loving the body that I find the sexist thing on this planet"
"Then why are you avoiding me! What did I do!"
"You didn't do anything!"
"Then why!"
"Because I'm entering pre-rut!" Eddie said looking stressed and embarrassed "what?"
"I'm in pre-rut"
"And you are avoiding me because of your pre-rut"
"Yes"
"Why"
"Because I don't want you to put up with it"
"Babe I'm your god damn mate, you deal with my heats"
"Yes but with (sons name) they are paternal heats, alphas don't really have that" eddie explained and (name) made the realization "ooooh"
"And I don't want to put you through that, we know what rut me can be like with you"
Eddie was a biter when he was in rut.
"Well you should have spoken to me instead of avoiding and not kissing me and making me think you didn't want me!"
"I know I'm sorry, it was dumb as hell but I didn't know what to do!"
"Well I'm not apposed to sharing a rut, we just gotta find duckling here a sitter...maybe with my mom but if you really don't wanna I can just go stay with my mom" (name) said softly and Eddie felt like he fell in love with (name) all over again, always finding both options and Eddie loved him so much for it "are you sure? Last time I left you with some pretty nasty bites"
"Of course, were mates and mates stuck around during the feral and horny" (name) joked sweetly "lets go home baby"
"Don't you have a thing with the others?"
"Dustin would kill me if I walked back in right now"
"Fair" (name) giggled and unhooked the baby carrier and the two went to Eddie's car, the Alpha traded his old van for cooler car that had back seat doors, that was (name)s one demand in case they needed to get to their pup fast.
Which was fair.
The two situated (sons name) before driving home and when (name) got home he went and called his mom to set up the babysitting and when she agreed he smiled at his mate "she will come and get him tomorrow!"
"So that means during my pre rut I get to coherently fuck you into my rut?" Eddie said sneakily and (name) smiled "yup!"
"Well...till then let's talk about why you don't like your sexy body"
(Name) should have expected that.

Tumblr media
You wandered into the dimly lit bar. The colorful lighting made you want to rip your eyes out. What kind of asshole trades his girlfriend for his job? You didn't want to think about him anymore. You had to move on. So, the only logical thing to do was drink. A lot.
"Vodka Cranberry, thank you," you ordered yourself a drink, fidgeting with your nails as you focused your eyes on the bar counter where you sat.
"I'll pay for her drink." a man says, taking a seat next to you. The scent of his earthy cologne was unfamiliar yet welcoming at the same time. "You okay? You look a little down." you scoff and look up at the man, who was smiling at you sympathetically. You were surprised to see a handsome older man with shaggy hair and a leather jacket with various pins, patches, and other accessories. "Thanks for the drink..." you ask for his name, admiring the way his brown eyes scanned over your face as you spoke. A simple, yet meaningfully warm gesture.
"Eddie. And you are?" he offers a hand to you, which was covered in rings and a few faded scars. His hands were much rougher than Steve's. "Y/n. I'm just a little upset. I don't want to bother you! It's a long story." you chuckled shyly. You were lying through your teeth. You didn't want to start sobbing in front of this generous, devilishly handsome stranger.
"I'm a good listener, I promise. Just want to help you out. You're very beautiful, and I wanna know who broke your heart." he teased. He fully believed you were fired or something else devastating, but when he saw how you bit your lip, he stopped. Shit.
"Seriously? Oh, I'm sorry, I swear I had no idea." he felt terrible for bringing up the agonizing memory of whatever asshole decided to break your heart in two.
"No no, it's okay. I'm over him anyway." you lied again. He glanced at you for a moment, eyeing you to be sure no tears fell, then he takes a sip from his drink. You weren't quite sure why you trusted Eddie so much, whether it was his endearing eyes or kind nature, you were compelled to explain the whole situation.
"Shit, really? I don't know what decent man would give up his beautiful girlfriend for a stupid job. Don't feel sorry for him, he gave up the one good thing going for him." you chuckled. "Thank you, Eddie, but you hardly know me!" you reminded him, but he shrugged you off. Eddie thought he knew a good person when he saw one. He was confident you were the prettiest woman in the bar, though.
"Please, I'm a great judge of character. I wouldn't be talking to you if I didn't think you were a heartbroken woman with a heart of gold." he exaggerated, but you were flattered anyway. "Here's my number, you can call me and talk anytime you want. You look like you need it." he smiles brightly, his gaze never leaving your face. "Gee thanks." you roll your eyes.
"Fuck, it's getting late. You better get home, sweetheart, the bums like your boyfriend come out late at night." he helped you off the barstool, to which you almost fell off due to your drunkness. You laughed at his statement. "He really is a bum." you agreed, nodding drunkenly.
Eddie just laughs at you. "You're so drunk, Y/n. Call me if you ever need someone to talk to. I'll take you for some food, and we'll talk all about it. No conditions, no intentions. Just listening." it was unlike anything you've ever known. A man offering to talk while expecting nothing more than your presence. Was he an angel?
Eddie drove you home that night, leaving you at your doorstep. "Good luck with your ex-boyfriend/bum/asshole. Get some sleep." he laughs when you miss the doorknob as you try to open the door. You walked inside and glanced as he strode back to his car.
"Great start to a long recovery after dating Steve Harrington," you said to yourself, completely sarcastic. It hadn't even been one day and you had tried to get wasted to forget him. You thought it was better than sitting in a dark room sulking all day, without a single thought forming inside your head except the empty feeling that replaced Steve's presence.
It had been one day since Steve sliced your heart in half with the words, "I don't need you anymore." It was etched into your brain, the way he looked at you with disgust as you attempted to piece together your relationship. It was already done. Your father convinced Steve to do it. Though, it was obvious that he enjoyed his job more than anything else he had going on. Or so you thought.
"Who the hell is that?" your dad crossed his arms, glancing across the busy office to a very petite woman standing way too close to Steve for your liking. "Probably some receptionist with a crush on him. He has like ten girls lining up to date him at any time. You said it yourself, he's a player." You tried your best not to feel dejected seeing some girl laughing at whatever shitty joke he muttered. It should be you on his arm right now. You shoved yourself down into your chair, huffing as you glanced at the pile of work that covered your desk completely. Your father recognized your unhappiness.
"Calm down, Y/n. He is exactly what I warned you about. It's better that you've moved on anyway. Steve Harrington is an idiot and an asshole. He's simply not the man for you." your eyebrows furrowed upon hearing your father's words. It hurt to hear someone diss your ex, but it was funny to hear that your dad thought you had already moved on. Why couldn't Steve be yours?
"He's a dick! Who flirts with a woman right after breaking up with another woman?!" Your father walked away, not entertaining this anymore. You ached for him, for his touch, his compliments. Who cares if he's a little older? You felt like your life had been altered permanently. Like he was a sickness you couldn't get rid of.
A pang of nausea hit you when he kissed the mystery woman, his hand wrapped around her with the same grip he had on you. How could he touch another woman and not think of the way you felt in his hands?
Tears threatened to fall, so you stopped watching the man of your dreams dote upon another girl. You grabbed the phone.
"Eddie? Do you think you could pick me up today for lunch?" Though you could barely hear yourself, you knew it was obvious to everyone that you were close to tears. When Eddie picked up the phone, he couldn't believe how fast you had decided to call him. He just met you yesterday! But nonetheless, he would never take up the chance to talk to a pretty girl.
"What's the address, sweets? I'll be right there and we'll talk about it over lunch. Did he make you cry?" he found himself unable to control his rage when he heard your poor attempt at hiding your sadness over the phone.
You didn't answer his last question, instead giving him the address and hanging up. After grabbing your coat and bag, you made your way outside. You didn't notice the way Steve's eyes followed you until you strolled out of the room. Oh, how he wanted to follow you. To run after you and apologize for being such a fool. He missed you as much as you did, but going after you and trying again would surely end in his termination.
So he tried to forget you, to drown you out with sex, drinks, whatever he could think of. Part of him wondered how you were doing. He wondered if you’ve found someone else, or if you’re struggling just as much as he is. So he made his way to a window to watch you outside, to get a last small glimpse of the woman he used to adore.
But then he saw it. Him
A man picking you up in a beat-up van, you getting in willingly. Who was this man who was picking up his woman for lunch? He couldn’t picture you with any other man, who else did you know?
His questions were driving him crazy as he made his way back to the brunette he picked up last night as he drove miles to keep his mind off of you. Nancy Wheeler.
Steve was fortunate that Nancy was still single and available. Somehow, he pictured her as a successful journalist with a husband and kids already. Either way, her presence comforted him to no end, as she was his first love. “Hey, Nance. How have you been?” he never thought he’d ever have a chance to talk to her, after a messy breakup, he was positive that she hated his guts. “Good, missing you a lot, though. I’m assuming you’ve got your dream? Six kids?” Nancy flashed him a small smile, one that melted his worried away just as he remembered from all those years ago.
He laughed and shoved his hands into his pockets. “No, not yet. Newly single, actually.” he looked down at his shoes, unsure if she would brush him off. But that never came. “That sucks.” she paused, putting the puzzle pieces together. “Ah, you need a rebound? Is that why you came here? You haven’t talked to me in years!” She raised an eyebrow.
“Well when you put it that way it sounds douchey!” he sighs, running a hand through his hair. Nancy recognized that move, he did it when he was nervous. “All I’m asking for is a second chance. Please?” Steve’s brown eyes were hard to resist, especially if you’ve been in a dry spell for the last six months like Nancy has.
“Fine, but if we’re gonna do this, I want to go all the way. No half-assing it. We’re dating, okay? Not friends with benefits.” she points a finger at him to emphasize that she never intended to have a sex-only relationship. “Absolutely. You know what? I’ll even let you visit my work for lunch, my boss doesn’t mind!” he smiled at her, reminding her of the old days when he’d climb up to her window and visit her late at night while her parents were downstairs. He truly did love her back then, but could he feel the same way now? Even after he’s met you?
“So what’s bothering you, sweetheart? You’re in tears!” Eddie reaches across to grab your hand. “Ex bothering you? I can have a chat with him if you want me to…” you knew he didn’t truly mean a chat. “No Eddie, it’s okay. I just want to rant it all out over a nice meal. Please?” you sounded a lot quieter and timider than you thought you would, and it broke his heart.
After sitting down at the small restaurant nearby, you almost broke down in front of him. Eddie frowns at you, feeling horrible for bringing up the touchy subject.
“He did what!? What an asshole!” He shouted, making you jump. He blushed and looked around to see a few eyes on him, eager to see why he was yelling. “Who did he bring in?” Eddie tried his best not to sound too excited to find out what jerk was tossing you away like trash. “Some girl named Nancy? She’s around his age, maybe he doesn’t like younger girls after all..” you were deep in your thoughts, unable to silence the thought that maybe this was a mistake.
“Do you want my honest advice?” he smiles sadly at you. “Yes, please. I just want someone to be honest with me.”
He took a deep breath, knowing it might be hard to hear. “This Steve guy is an asshole, okay? No decent man would put anything above his girlfriend like that. Some men are glad to take his place, men who would treat you better than he did. You just need to distract yourself, maybe with someone else? It seems like he’s doing the same thing.” you squint your eyes.
“Are you implying that I start dating you to get over my ex…one day after we’ve split?” Eddie shrugs. He never really intended to date you when he first met you at the bar last night, but now that he was seeing you in this light, heartbroken and unable to forget about a stupid ex, he had the idea to help you forget. “Only if you want to, but I’d love to help you forget that dumbass, sweetheart.” The nickname made you feel butterflies in your stomach, you had to admit. You felt your face heat up under his gaze. The sight of his brown eyes and gentle smile had you melting inside, even though you still couldn’t stop thinking of Steve. “Are you sure? I’m still a little out of it, I just got out of a relationship!” The last thing you wanted was for Eddie to feel like you haven’t forgotten about Steve.
“Sweetheart, for the millionth time, I’m completely fine with it. Frankly, I don’t care about him, I think you’re cute. I want to get to know you, distract you a little bit.” It was true, you badly needed a distraction. Steve’s remarks kept repeating in your head. The phrase ‘this was a mistake’ had been the cause of many sobbing sessions in either your bed or shower.
You had no idea what you were getting into. Between his mellow, sweet voice and his caring brown eyes staring into your soul, all ration was out the window and across the street. “Fine, consider this our first date then! I have an hour lunch break so we better talk fast.” you laugh when he immediately switches to flirting with you.
That was 5 months ago. Eddie became your boyfriend after about a month of exciting dates and many invites to his band, Corroded Coffin. “Hey babe, please come to this club with me tonight! I need to scope out the place to see if it’ll be a good spot for the band to perform. Think you could do that for me?” Eddie’s front was pressed against your back as you lay in bed next to him. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t think of Steve from time to time, but Eddie was more than perfect, the right man.
“Mmm, I’ll make it worth your while..” he pressed kisses along your neck and on your bare shoulder. You felt sore from the long night you had with Eddie, so you melted into his affections. “Maybe, it all depends on if you’re buying me drinks..” you hum. You kept your eyes closed, not wanting to accept the morning or rather afternoon, as it shined through the curtains. “Oh sweetheart, we’ll be doing a little more than drinking. Just you wait.” he pressed more kisses onto your warm naked body, stirring you fully awake. “What does that mean?” you raise an eyebrow at his vagueness. If Eddie was ever defined in one word, it would be Blunt. Not vague.
“You’ll find out. I have an idea, why don’t you wear that little black dress that your ex bought you? You look so delicious in that, always makes me wanna stop the performance just to take you in the bathroom..” he chuckles, growling at the feeling of you pressing your ass against his crotch. “Naughty…”
After a nice, pleasurable shower, you found yourself watching Eddie as he stood over a hot stove, cooking breakfast for the both of you. This sight made your heart skip a beat, his hair still wet, sprawled across his unclothed back as the sound of sizzling food echoed in the room. “Y’know…I thought I was the freak, you’re the one staring at me while I cook.” he chuckles.
Later that night, you managed to squeeze into the tight black dress. As you pulled up the straps, memories flooded back to you, his hands caressing you, touching you, holding you. It had been months, and you knew you were crazy to think that there was even a chance that Steve would come crawling back.
In the past few months, his arm candy had shown up less and less as each week came. You felt guilty for thinking of him, especially when you had a new man, Eddie. You couldn’t help it. Everything reminded you of him, each sweet gesture, each word from Eddie’s mouth had you wishing, praying that Steve would come back.
But you also harbored so much rage for him and his actions. You’d glance over at him at work, his every movement reminding you of the heartbreaking sentence that ended your relationship in one fell swoop. “This was a mistake”.
It tormented you, to know that he thought the entire relationship was a mistake. Literally, you stayed up, staring at the dark ceiling imagining what your life would be like if Steve hadn’t chosen his job over you. It hurt, knowing you missed out on so much. Hell, you could have even been engaged by now!
“Y/n? Hello? Earth to Y/n?” You snapped back into yourself when you heard Eddie’s several snaps and puzzled voice. “I’m fine.” you pushed him away as you slipped on your heels without a second thought. Eddie’s brow furrowed at your standoffish appearance. Hell, you had been all over him the entire day and now you’re completely ignoring him?
“Something’s wrong, I can see it in your face, sweetheart.” He said plainly as you felt the bed dip when he sat down. With a large, rough hand on your thigh, Eddie kissed your head. “We don’t have to go, you know that right? I put your well-being over any performance opportunity. Say the word and we’ll watch a couple movies and call it a night.” Eddie knew you were high-energy at times, but so was he, and even he knew how refreshing a night in feels.
“No! I’m fine, really. Just thinking about some things.” Eddie knew better than to press you. If you wanted something to stay private, he respected your wishes. “Well, sweetheart. We’re going to the club to get rid of our thoughts. Trust me, this will is exactly what you need to unwind. I know something else that could help with that too…” his hand dragged up your thigh, making your face heat up.
“Uh uh! Save it until after the club, we’re gonna miss the prime time for you to decide whether it’s a good place to perform or not!” Whether you loved Eddie, was a question for another day. But either way, you fully supported him with his band, and you were proud of him. “Fine.” he huffed, shoving his leather jacket over his shoulders and helping you up.
So here you were, in a busy, loud club, full of sweaty dancing people. It had been a couple hours now, and Eddie was nowhere to be seen, probably talking with the owner or stumbling over to the bar to buy you a drink. “Hey, sweetheart! Good news, it’s perfect. Corroded Coffin will be performing next Friday, and who knows? We might even become regular performers here!” It was clear that Eddie was extremely excited, and you were too. But something was telling you to take your attention away from him.
It was Steve, who sat across the room from you in the club. The opening between obnoxious dancing people allowed you to get a perfect view of the man you used to love. He was pissed.
Steve had come to the club for the same reason you had, to clear your mind. With booze. After having a vicious argument with Nancy, she stormed out, unable to stay in that toxic relationship. Because Steve still had feelings for you, he couldn’t let go of the thought that you might be begging him to come back, so he kept his mind open. And in doing so, he let Nancy walk out of his life. Steve couldn’t let you go, no matter how many women he spent the night with, how much he drank, or how much he tried to ignore you. He’d see your face every day at work and die inside. Have you really moved on?
Steve didn’t know you were dating someone, let alone Eddie Munson. He came to the club to meet a lady and take her home, hoping it would be the one that finally helps him forget. When he saw Eddie’s hand in yours, the other inching up your thigh. He felt a sudden pang of sadness when he noticed that you were wearing the same dress he bought you months ago.
“C’mere, sweetheart.” Eddie pulls you onto his lap, humming at the sensation of your weight on him. “This guy won’t stop staring at me, what the hell is his deal?” Eddie mumbles onto your skin as he presses soft kisses against your jaw and neck. “He’s my ex,” you said bluntly. Eddie hums, almost enjoying the feeling of showing Steve exactly what he’s been missing.
“Wanna give him a show?” he smirked, his hands slowly moving down to grasp your ass, giving it a few squeezes. He chuckles to himself. “Let him see how good I’m treating his girl. I think he misses you, Y/n.” Eddie grinds his hips into yours, making you whimper in response. The mention of Steve, plus Eddie’s teasing was getting you more hot and bothered by the minute.
Steve’s eyes watched the way Eddie grabbed you, his hands clenched into fists. He’d lay awake at night thinking of how other men were touching you, loving you, doing everything he should have been there to do. Job be damned, he was going to get you back. In Steve’s opinion, Eddie was a harsh downgrade.
“Wanna try some, sweetheart?” he pulls a tiny baggy out of the pocket of his black ripped jeans. “Eddie, I told you I don’t get into that kind of stuff!” you whine and push his hand away. You smoked a few times with Eddie, it was always therapeutic. And, you both got a little touchy-feely when you had some weed in your system.
“C’mon baby, just a little? You’ll really get to enjoy yourself! You said you wanted to unwind, this is how we unwind! I’m doing it, so you do it too!” Eddie shook the white powder in the baggie, watching you grow more upset by the second. “Seriously? Don’t be like that babe, it’s not like you haven’t seen me do it!” You shove him off of you. “Yeah but I don’t want to, Eddie. I’m just trying to relax, but not like that! Why don’t we just go home and smoke a joint and watch a couple movies? I don’t like how you’re acting all of the sudden!” It was almost alarming how fast his demeanor had changed. “
“Then why did you even come? I literally fucking told you I was bringing something extra. Do you know what I think this is about? Your fucking ex. You’ve been thinking about him again, haven’t you?” Eddie interrogated you, drunkenly shaking the bag of powdery substance in your face. “You know I have the stuff, you’ve seen me with it. You haven’t ever wanted to try it?” He was very overwhelming.
You felt tears prick in your eyes. You were only tipsy from siping champagne the whole night, but it was obvious Eddie had no intention of holding out his true emotions. Did he really think you were rejecting him because of Steve? Eddie rolls his eyes. “Oh look, here he comes.” Eddie was slurring his words by now, his cup sitting on the table was spilled when he tried to grab it.
“Y/n, is this guy bothering you?” Steve asks sternly, his eyes wandering over your figure, mouth-watering with need. You glance between them, before nodding. “What?! Babe, you’re seriously so fucking lame right now, you’re gonna side with him? Your ex? It’s literally just a couple lines, sniff it and we’ll go home. I promise sweet-”
Steve grabbed Eddie by the shoulders and slammed him into the wall behind him. “Don’t you fucking call her that. You don’t deserve to call her that!” Steve’s hands clenched into fists, winding up to punch him. “Y/n, wait outside. We need to talk.”
Steve felt rage course through his veins as he held Eddie against the wall, his breath quickening. “You’re gonna force her to do it? Are you fucking stupid? She didn’t want to do it, freak.” Steve heard Eddie laugh from under him, his hair messy and wild. “Don’t fucking touch her again, don’t call her, don’t come near her. I’ll fuck you up I swear to god, Eddie.” Steve had been in a couple brushes with Eddie in high school, they didn’t like each other.
“Don’t follow, don’t show up at her house. You’re an asshole, and I don’t want you coming near her again. Do you hear me?” Steve’s hands had found their way to Eddie’s throat, slowly squeezing, adding pressure to his neck. Eddie nodded frantically. “Jesus you’re fucking insane! I won’t come near her again I swear!” When Steve released Eddie’s neck from his hands, Eddie quickly moved away. He got the message.
Steve fixed his styled hair and walked outside, catching his breath from the incident inside. You stood outside as well, your arms folded over your chest as you shivered from the cold. “What did you do to him?” you asked coldly, worried about Eddie. Even though you were disgusted by his actions, you couldn’t help but feel worried for your boyfriend. “He’ll be fine, get in the car. I’m taking you home.” Steve was too mad to feel bad for you, too frustrated that you had moved on and found someone better.
Sure, Eddie was no angel, but at least he didn’t give you up for a stupid job. But then again, you found someone the very next day so maybe both of you had messed up. Either way, Steve knew he had to come up with a glowing apology to have even a chance of getting you back. “Did you hurt him?” your stomach felt sick at the thought of Eddie being beaten up by Steve. You already knew the answer, but you wanted him to say it. “I said he’ll be fine. Get in the car so I can take you home.” Steve wasn’t asking you, he was telling you to get in.
On the way to your house, Steve’s hands gripped the steering wheel so hard he thought it might snap in half. “Why couldn’t you just stay away? Why do you have to constantly shove it in my face that we’re split up?” you blurt out, anger coursing through your veins as each mile passed on the way home. Steve was silent. He knew he’d lose both his temper and his focus on the road. Even if he was pissed at you, he still cared for your safety.
Arriving home, you invited Steve in for a chat. “We need to talk. You were avoiding me at work, you glance at me like I’m some kind of freak for dating Eddie, what the hell is wrong with you?” you slam the front door shut.
“Well, when you’re dating the town freak it kinda taints that fake innocent reputation you’ve got there. Don’t act all high and mighty, sweetheart. You moved on just as fast as I did.” Steve pointed his finger in your face, his voice raised ever so slightly. “Not on the same night, Steve! Yeah, I dated Eddie very soon after our breakup, but you hooked up with Nancy, what like, 6 hours after we ended things!? You’re fucking sick in the head if you think that’s okay!”
“I’m sick in the head? Have you ever stopped and thought about why I broke up with you? Put yourself in someone else’s shoes for once you spoiled brat! Would you give up your well-paying job for your best friend’s annoying daughter who acts like she’s still 18 and fresh out of high school? Grow the fuck up, Y/n!” Steve made his way towards you, to which you backed away. “Stay away from me, asshole!” you threw whatever you could, books, couch pillows, the house phone, etc.
“God, you’re so frustrating! You said you were in love with me, you said you’d be there for me when things went south. Then you fucking left me without even talking to me about it! We could have managed and found something else! Who cares if you’re betraying your best friend?! He’s called you a manwhore for years, Steve! Grow the hell up and stop acting like you’re the only person that matters here!” You were both shouting at each other now.
“You know why I stayed with Eddie? Because he’s not a fucking coward and he treats me with respect-”
“Respect? That’s what that little stunt was, respect? No, that man was using you, sweetheart. You’re too fucking naive to see it, not every man has your best interests in mind.” he chuckles, rolling his eyes.
“Well, at least he doesn’t hook up with women he’s had feelings for since 1986! At least he doesn’t treat me like arm candy, like an object he can toss around and manipulate! He actually cares about what I have to say. And he’s better in bed, you wanna know why?-”
You were pushed against the wall, and your purse dropped on the floor along with whatever had been in your hand. “Is that really what you think? You think he can fuck you better than I can?” Steve’s hands gripped your hips as he held them against his own. You were positive you’d see bruising on them tomorrow morning. “You think he knows anything about pleasing you? Respecting you? Because I promise you, sweetheart. Nobody is better than me, not when it comes to knowing you. Inside and out.” one of his hands slid your dress strap down the length of your shoulder.
“God, you look so goddamn good in this dress. Does he know I fucked you in it? Does he know I paid for this, sweet thing?” He held your jaw, peppering soft kisses along your collarbone, you whimpered at the feeling. Familiar butterflies in your stomach, you rushed to get your hands on him. “Shh, it’s my turn to speak, Y/n. Tell you my side of the story, while I give you the good sex you’ve been missing for months.” he chuckled, unzipping the back of your dress.
“I love seeing you wear this. Can’t remember the last time I saw you with nothing on. Been missing you so much, sweetheart. You have no idea how much I longed for this…” Brushing his hands through his hair, he slid your dress off with haste. “Don’t wanna waste any time, baby. You love teasing me, I know. You wear those sexy stockings under your short little skirt and pretend you don’t want me to see your skimpy little panties underneath it, don’t you? You love showing everyone just how much you like Eddie because you know that it drives me crazy, god you’re such a little minx.”
He groans against your hot skin as his hands sprawled across your body, groping your tits in his hands before latching his mouth onto one of your nipples. He loved that you never wore a bra with this dress. “Missed these, baby. You have the most perfect tits I’ve ever seen.” he glanced up at you as you moaned lightly, your hands clearing the hair out of his face to get a good look at the man you missed so much.
He was taking what was his, and you were letting him. You’d be a fool not to remember how good he fucked you. He would make it his mission practically every night, to make you cum as many times as needed to where you wouldn’t be able to walk the next morning. It made it really difficult at work when you’d have a hard time walking in your heels and pencil skirt. But Steve enjoyed watching you struggle the morning after, knowing he’d do it all again the very next night.
“You just miss me for my body. I bet Eddie wouldn’t do that.” now you were purposefully making him angry. But if this was the punishment for his anger? You’d do it again and again. Steve stopped his attack on your smooth skin and looked at you. His honey-brown eyes met yours with the same fury and lust as the first night you spent with him.
“Really? Do you think Eddie would care about you like I do? Did he buy things for you, let you stay at his house, and offer to help you with your issues with your father?” you scoffed and crossed your arms across your bare chest. “Eddie’s not a bad guy, Steve, he treats me like an equal. And he cares about me, unlike you.”
In a split second, your arms were out stretched along the wall as Steve kissed you. “He’s a scumbag, Y/n. Tell me, how many times has he made you cum?” Steve mumbled, his hands tracing your soft thighs as he places kisses down your chest to your stomach. No response.
“Shut up, Steve! You don’t understand, you never could. Eddie cared, and we didn’t have to have an orgasm to have a good relationship.” Steve raised an eyebrow. “You keep pushing me away, sweetheart, you’re making yourself look crazier every second.” he chuckles.
“Why don’t you just admit it? The reason you’re so mad is that you’re pent up. Poor baby, let me help you…” his hands grabbed your lace panties, pulling them down your legs inch by inch. His hungry eyes were glazed over as he looked at you in your full glory. “What if I don’t want your help? The last thing I need is some egotistical asshole trying to”
You were cut off by your own gasps as Steve’s finger circled your clit. “Oh sweetheart, you’ve been wet this whole time? No wonder you’re pissed at me..” he chuckles as you squirm from his actions.
“No, you jerk! I’m pissed at you because you keep insulting Ed-”
“If you say his name one more fucking time I’m gonna bend you over the table and fuck you so hard you can’t walk the next morning. If I hear his name coming from those pretty lips again I’m gonna have no choice but to make you scream my name. Teach you who really knows how to please you.” he pulled you over to the couch, and you were forever grateful that your father was on a short vacation.
“Lay back and let me help you, sweetheart.” he practically tore off his clothes, throwing them as if they were worth nothing. He crawled on top of you, only left in his boxers as he ground his hips into yours. You felt his hard dick pressed against your wet pussy, soaking the fabric. “You’ll get over him, darling.” you roll your eyes. “What if I don’t want to? I love him, Steve.” you felt angry, offended, that he’d think you could just forget about him that quick.
“You’re here, aren’t you? You’re naked underneath me. You haven’t kicked me out. You do want this, right? Just say the word and I’ll leave.” Steve wanted you to be comfortable, he’d never want you to feel pressured or forced to do anything. Unlike Eddie.
“No, stay.” you grabbed his arm. He smiled and nodded at you. “Okay baby, now let me show you what you’ve been missing..” he lowered his head, pressing messy, wet kisses along your chest. He gave extra attention to your breasts and then moved down your stomach to your thighs. He kissed and sucked at your thighs, inching closer to where you wanted him. “Steve it’s been months without this…don’t be a fucking tease.” you spat out angrily, making him chuckle.
“Yeah but you’ve been giving me a hard time. And it’s been months without having you in my arms, I’m gonna take my time.” he laughs when you whine at his words. He kissed your inner thighs and then finally, he pressed kisses against your clit. You moaned out at the feeling of his mouth sucking your clit, groaning at the taste of your warm pussy. “I missed this so fucking much, you taste heavenly.” Steve spent many nights thinking about you, your body, to the point where he’d get off to the thought of you.
Steve flicked his tongue over your clit before licking a stripe up your pussy, leaving you exposed under his touch, his tongue. It had been forever since you had a man between your legs, let alone a man willing to eat you out like it was his last meal. You rut your hips against his face, his nose nudging your clit perfectly, making you cry out. “Steve, oh my god.” you moaned, your head falling back onto the couch as your hands found their way to his perfect hair, grabbing and tugging as he mercilessly lapped at your pussy.
Between your squirming and his urge to go deeper, Steve held your hips down with his arms, wrapping them around your legs. As you brought your head back up, your eyes met his. His sweet brown eyes were dark and lustful as a smirk crossed his face. He brought his hand from your hip to your heat, pushing a finger into you. He groaned at the feeling, humming into your pussy as your walls squeezed his finger. “Fuck, don’t stop!” you could barely tell how loud you were being, but you never wanted it to stop.
Steve fingered you as his tongue flicked at your clit. “Feel good, sweetheart? Better than that asshole?” Steve made it his mission to prove he was better than Eddie in every way.
“God yes I’m going to-” you were breathing heavily. “Cum for me baby, I need to feel you, taste you. Give it to me, sweetheart.” He groaned lowly into your pussy, his own hips rutting into the couch desperately.
You could barely contain yourself. Months of no action had you practically drooling on the couch as he ate you out. “Oh fuck, Steve!” your orgasm hit you suddenly, making you squirm against Steve’s grip. Your legs shook as your orgasm washed over you, the euphoria was unlike you had felt in months. Steve rode out your orgasm, relishing in the feeling of you holding onto his hair for dear life.
Steve sat up from his position on the couch, his face wet from you. “I’d say I did pretty good, you look exhausted honey.” he laughs, crawling on top of you to kiss you. The kiss wasn’t angry and passionate. It was sweet, loving, longing, and caring.
“Mmm, we won’t know until we’re done. I might still be thinking about Eddie.” you knew you were in for it when he stood up. “Remember what I said, sweetheart? Get up.” he took your hand in his.
He bent you over the table. “He can never fuck you like I can. Has he ever cared enough to go down on you? Don’t you fucking mention him ever again. You know he could never make you feel like this…” his hands groped your ass, biting his lip as he pressed a light smack to your ass.
Steve shoved his boxers down to his ankles, not bothering to take them off. “You ready, sweetheart?” he asked, the question filling your stomach with butterflies. Of course, he’d pause just before the moment to ask if you’re okay again. “I can’t wait much longer, Steve. Please fuck me!” you whined out, making him chuckle.
“Alright, sweetheart…” the tip of his dick nudged your entrance, rubbing against your wetness. You whimper and press your face further against the cold table. “Stop teasing.” you manage to mutter out, making him smirk. “We go at my speed, sweetheart.” he chuckles, pushing into your tight warm pussy. You go weak against the cold surface, your eyes rolling back at the feeling of him slowly bottoming out inside you, his cock stretching your walls farther than any man ever could.
Steve begins his thrusts, his hands holding your hips tightly. You felt secure like somehow everything was gonna be okay. Your hands gripped the table as his pace sped up. Soon he was pounding into you, the sound of his palm occasionally smacking your ass and skin slapping filled the room. You could focus on anything, your loud moaning drowned out any thought you had. Steve groaned as he spread your legs further to get deeper inside you. “Jesus it’s like you were fucking made for me.” he throws his head back, trying to stave off his orgasm. The way you were clenching him made it awfully difficult.
“Could he fuck you like this?” Steve mercilessly fucked you, and the table jerked a little with every harsh thrust into you. “So loud for me, maybe the neighbors will hear us, baby. God, could you imagine what he’d think? I’m so deep inside this sweet pussy, she’s so needy for me, huh?” he chuckles when you just moaned his name in response. You were too fucked out, in complete bliss from his cock pressing right into your sweet spot each time he pushed into you. You felt alight like you’d been waiting for this for years.
“Steve oh my god I’m so fucking close..” Steve managed to turn to see your face. “Oh sweetheart, you look so fucked out, so pretty like this. You make such gorgeous noises. Too bad that fucker couldn’t hear them, too much of a pussy to worship you like the goddess you are.” he thrusts hard into you, his thick cock pressed right into your sweet spot. “Give it to me baby, I can’t last much longer. Wanna feel you squeezing my dick, sweetheart. Give it to me, please princess.” he was mumbling now, trying to focus on something, anything other than your greedy little pussy taking him so well.
You were breathless as your orgasm washed over you. Your whole body shook as you rode it out. “Good girl, fuck you’re so good for me.” Steve came inside you, his hips pressed against your ass as he groaned your name softly, his eyes squeezed shut.
You both rode through your orgasms before Steve pulled out to clean you both up. Carrying you to the couch, he pulled your sweaty soft body onto his. “Y/n, I need you to know that I’m here to stay. I need you, and I’m truly sorry for everything I’ve done to hurt you. You didn’t deserve any of it. I’d like to make it up to you if you’ll give me another chance?” he looked up at you with puppy eyes.
You laugh weakly. “Sure, what could go wrong?”. Having this night with him made you realize how different life was without Steve. Eddie cared, but not enough. Nancy was a rebound, nothing more. And your father was wrong.
His best friend wasn’t an asshole. He was a good man, the man you loved.

Chapter 1. Chapter 4
Tumblr media
Eddie hadn’t even noticed Steve. It’s not that he was trying to be quiet, he wasn’t. The closer Steve got the more he realized how truly exhausted Eddie looked.
“Hey Eddie.” Steve had half whispered, trying not to startle him by being too loud. It didn’t seem to matter as Eddie jumped a little anyway, putting a hand to his chest making his heavy breathing more noticeable.
“Jesus Steve. Scared the shit out of me man.” Eddie sighed, leaning against the cart in an attempt to collect himself.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to.”
“It’s ok, just tired i guess” Eddie said, yawning as if his body needed to show proof of how tired he actually was. The red eyes he had and the dark circles under them apparently didn't show it enough.
"Everything alright? Working a lot or something?"
“Yeah, I’m working a lot, I’m erm,” Eddie stopped himself, how could he tell Steve why he was exhausted without revealing Nova? “Looking to move out as soon as I can, you know, working hard and saving harder, want to be out of Wayne's hair as soon as I can” He hoped his rambling stopped Steve asking too many questions.
"Well I can understand that. Look it's been awhile and knowing you plus how much you've clearly been working, I know you haven't had a decent meal in awhile. Why don't you come over tonight for dinner?"
He needed to think of something quickly. Logically he knew he should just tell the truth, but there was an issue with that. Not that he didn't think Steve would be understanding, no it was a different issue. Eddie had nursed a long distance crush on the jock during his ‘king Steve’ days and even after that before Steve graduated. Being thrown into the same friendship group had made sure this crush did not stay long distance and did not remain a simple crush. Telling Steve about Nova felt like ending anything that could potentially develop between the two of them.
“I’d love to but Wayne’s working tonight and I need to be at home” Eddie replied nervously. The last thing he wanted was Steve thinking he didn't want to spend time with him.
"Oh ok. Well, uh, maybe another time then." Steve replied, looking down at his feet.
“Fuck” Eddie sighed, looking at Steve's disappointed face. “Look, I haven't been honest with you. I’ve become the guardian of my half sister in the last few weeks, I can't leave her at home when Waynes is at work, she's like 7 months old.” Eddie confessed, not meeting Steve's eyes.
"That explains a lot then. My offer still stands, you can bring her with you. I don't mind." Steve was feeling better now about how long it has been since they last talked. He'd always tried to give Eddie the benefit of the doubt but he'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought that maybe Eddie just didn't want anything to do with him anymore.
"You don't mind? Like if I brought her with me tonight that would be ok?" Eddie asked.
"Yeah of course! I love kids. Used to babysit the Wheeler's youngest."
"Ok then, if you're sure?" Eddie questioned.
"No, I've just said that for nothing." Steve replied, pausing for a moment. "Yes I'm sure. Really, I promise it's fine."
"Alright then, you're on. Me and the tiny terror will be round later. Be warned though, she's teething and hates every second of it" Eddie nervously laughed.
"I'm looking forward to it. See you at five if that works?"
"Yeah 5 works for us, see you then" Eddie smiled "I'd best pick up the groceries and head out, Wayne's been left with her and he was working last night" he gestured to his cart.
"Best hurry up then. See you later Munson." Steve called as he turned around to continue his grocery shopping and waving goodbye.
"Catch you later Harrington." Eddie said, walking away. Dinner with Steve Harrington, how did Eddie get this lucky he wondered.
Steve had walked down three aisles before realizing he hadn’t been paying attention or grabbed anything that he had actually needed. Instead he couldn’t stop worrying about what he would make. What could he make that all three of them could have? It had been awhile since he’d watched Holly when she was a baby which was making it hard to remember what a seven month old could have.

He rolled his eyes at Robin’s last message before switching to his notes app to add to his grocery list. She wasn’t going to leave him alone but it still didn’t feel like the right time. Eddie clearly has so much going on right now. He didn’t want Eddie to have to worry about trying to make time for a relationship too, that is if he even would want one with Steve.
The rest of the time spent grocery shopping and the drive home flew by with Steve’s mind somewhere else. By the time he got home he couldn’t even remember what really happened after seeing Eddie. Once all of the groceries were put away, leaving what he’d need for dinner tonight out by the stove, he went upstairs to change. Standing in front of his closet he wasn’t sure if he should change anymore. Would Eddie think Steve was trying to impress him? Would he think Steve meant it to be more than just dinner? He decided to just change out of his t-shirt and into a polo, feeling that was a good middle ground. He glanced at his alarm clock by his bed to see if he had time to fix his hair a little, the only way he could was if he rushed his cooking. It wasn’t a hard decision to make. Sure he liked to look nice but this was about trying to do something nice for Eddie. He’d rather take his time to make sure the pasta and garlic bread came out perfect. It felt like Steve had been doing ok on time when he heard a knock on his door.
Tumblr media
"Come on in, the door is unlocked and I'm in the kitchen!" Steve yelled.
“Hey Harrington, trouble one and two are here” Eddie said loudly as he opened the door and walked in.
"Hey! I'm just finishing up. Dinner should be ready in about five minutes."
"Is it cool if I set little miss up in the living room whilst you're finishing up?"
"Of course! You do whatever you need to. I have an old portable high chair attached to a kitchen chair for her. I still had it left from babysitting Holly. Let me know if you need anything at all while you set up!"
Eddie left Nova in her carseat and proceeded to open the pack and play up. Each time he did this it became easier. Open, pull, pull, push down and place the mat. Less than a couple of minutes later the pack and play was set up with a few toys in it.
"Look at Stevie being all fancy with a fancy chair for you ay squirrel" Eddie said to Nova "Thanks, was just going to pop her into her pack and play for the evening but this is better"
"No problem! I'll be in there in just a second with everything."
"You cool with a couple soft toys on the table? She's already eaten and she won't give me a moment to eat if she isn't occupied" Eddie shouted through to Steve as he took Nova out of her seat and took her coat off.
"Of course!"
"There you go then little miss, you sit there and behave" Eddie said to Nova as he placed her in her seat and then sat next to her. “So you know what's been going on with me. What about you? What’s the heartbreaker of Hawkins been up to recently?"
"Not a whole lot really. Just working and a few dates here and there but that's about it really."
“No one catching your fancy to keep around?” Eddie questioned, looking over at Nova and playing with her toy with her and he tried to eat.
"Yes and no. Just not really any of the dates I've been on lately."
“That sucks man, I’m sorry”
"It's fine really. Just gotta wait for the right time with the right one. It'll happen eventually. I'm not in a rush."
“That’s good then, just enjoy it then I guess” Eddie shrugged.
"How's work going?"
“Busy but that’s not always a bad thing” Eddie answered, moving Nova's hand away from his hair without even really looking at her.
"Well good."
After their meal had been finished and they had caught up on everything they made their way through to the living room. Eddie placed Nova in her pack and play before going and sitting on the couch.
"So, you don't have to answer if you don't want to but how did you end up as her guardian?"
“My sperm donor decided he didn't want her, she was going to end up in the system if I didn’t take her in.” Eddie shrugged.
"Oh damn. That's great that you aren't letting her end up in the system though. How long have you had her?"
“Only like 5 weeks.” Eddie answered, "somehow feels like longer and so much shorter though"
"How's that going? It's gotta be a big adjustment."
“Yeah it really has been. I’m so lucky she’s a good baby overall, people in the park have been really good and gave us a load of things for her. There's a mom, Aimee, that helps me to look after her when I'm working.”
"That's good. I'm glad you have people helping you. You know you can ask me for help too, right?"
“Missing being the babysitter are you?” Eddie joked.
"Maybe a little. Don't you dare tell the kids though. They bother me enough."
“Secrets safe with me dude.” Eddie laughed.
"Good! You're welcome to hangout for a little while if you'd like. We could watch a movie."
“Yeah sounds good to me, lay a film on me”.
They decided on Captain America and The Winter Soldier to watch and they carried on talking.
They had just got past the part in the movie where The Winter Soldier had attacked Steve and Natasha before being revealed to be Bucky when Eddie's eyes started to droop. Being filled with good food, tired from looking after a baby and working meant that once it started there was no stopping it. Eddie was asleep a couple of minutes later.

"Alright Nova, looks like it's just you and me now." Steve said softly as he got up to retrieve some of the toys she had been playing with earlier. "I just have a phone call I need to make. I'll be there where I can see you ok?" He told her as he pointed towards the doorway to the kitchen. Thankfully the phone was right next to the door of the kitchen so he could easily see Nova while on the phone. It was just past seven so hopefully he wouldn't be interrupting dinner or calling too late.
"Hello?" A familiar voice answered.
"Hey Nancy. Hope I'm not calling at a bad time but I'd actually like to talk to your mom if she's not too busy." Steve tried to hide how awkward it felt talking to Nancy. They had broken up ages ago but now they just remained civil, not having a conversation much past 'how are you' when they had to see each other because of her brother.
"Just a second. I'll go get her." Nancy replied before he heard the sound of the receiver being placed on the counter.
"Steve, what a lovely surprise. How have you been, dear?" Mrs. Wheeler asked after a few moments of muffled conversation.
"I've been good, thanks. I was actually calling to see if you possibly still had any of Holly's old baby stuff that you might be willing to part with?" Steve asked hesitantly.
"Of course I do! When is the baby due? I'm sure I can have Ted and Mike pull the stuff down from the attic."
"Oh actually, she's already here. I just found out that a friend has a baby now. I know he's already got some stuff but I remember how quickly Holly out grew her stuff and figured he could probably use some more if you don't mind." Steve knew Mrs. Wheeler would be likely to help but he didn't want to sound like he expected it.
"I don't mind one bit! I'll have the boys pull stuff down in the morning and you can stop by in the afternoon if you're free."
"That would be great! I don't have work tomorrow and can stop by. Thank you so much Mrs. Wheeler. I really appreciate it."
"Stop it, you know you can call me Karen. It's not a problem at all. You did plenty for us with Holly anyway."
"I didn't mind. Holly was great. Thanks again Karen! I'll see you tomorrow!" He knew Eddie hadn't asked for help but seeing how quickly Eddie had fallen asleep and how stressed he probably was just made Steve want to do whatever he could to make things even a little easier on his friend.
As he walked back to Nova he could see how tired she was. He carefully lifted her up and grabbed the bag Eddie had brought with her stuff. It had been a while since he'd watched a kid so young but he found it easy to remember everything as he got Nova changed and ready to go to sleep. Steve didn't know what Eddie usually did to help her sleep but figured gently rocking her while he sat on the couch was a good enough place to start. He had wanted to be a little upset when she reached up and tightly held on to a lock of his hair but looking down at her, he just couldn't be mad at the adorable little girl in his arms. Once she was fast asleep and back in her pack and play, he grabbed a blanket from a closet in the hallway and covered Eddie with it. He couldn't help but smile looking over at the two of them. Steve had to push down the thoughts of wanting to tell Eddie how much he cared for him, he had enough going on. He might not be able to tell him but if Eddie was committed to giving Nova the best life he could then Steve would be right there with him as much as Eddie would allow.
Steve was just about to head upstairs to get himself ready for bed when a loud bangs had started coming from his front door. He opened the door just enough for him to be visible as he leaned against the door frame.
“Why are you kids here so late?” Steve demanded.
“Are you going to let us in or not?” Dustin asked. One of these days he was going to get this kid to understand that he needed to work on his tone.
“Absolutely not!” Steve scoffed.
“Why not? Is it because your kid is asleep? Why didn’t you tell us Steve!” Dustin yelled.
“I swear to god Henderson if you wake them up I’m not taking you anywhere or letting you use the pool for at least two weeks.” Steve grumbled.
“So I was right then! Why didn’t you tell us? Why did we have to find out through Mrs. Wheeler?”
“There’s nothing to tell you.”
“Are you kidding me? You having a kid is definitely something you should have told us. I mean we all knew you slept around so it was bound to happen.”
“Did you just call me a slut?”
“That’s not the point Steve. The kid. Tell me.”
“She’s not mine dude.”
“You don’t have to lie to me.”
“I’m not lying. She’s really not mine. It’s just not my place to talk about it, ok? Now get the hell out of here because if you wake Eddie or the baby up it really will be two weeks.” Steve said as he shut the door before Dustin had the chance to respond. Heard a muffled Dustin ask if it was Eddie’s from the other side of the door but he wasn’t willing to open it again to answer him. Dustin could ask Eddie when he got the chance. He had enough going on and didn’t need Dustin or the others bothering him on top of that. For now Steve just hoped that no one else showed up so Eddie could get an obviously very much needed good night’s sleep.

Headcanons for being Steve Harrington's ex-girlfriend and dating Eddie Munson...
Tumblr media
You miss Steve, you really do, and after the break-up you really struggle. At a party, you meet Eddie Munson and you're maybe even looking to buy a joint off of him. You find something else instead. It doesn't take long before you and Eddie are making out in one of the bathrooms at whoever's house it is.
You thought it was a one time thing but soon, you and Eddie find yourselves hooking up in the back of his van.
You and Eddie start off as something casual; a secret hook-up every now and again. You miss Steve and you just want touch with no strings attached. Eddie's more than happy with that arrangement.
It isn't until one night you're with Eddie and you fall asleep. Usually the routine is that you drink, maybe smoke, fuck and then you leave... One night, you fall asleep. Eddie lets you sleep, he doesn't mind that you've taken up his space, he lets you have it. That night, something shifts and changes.
You wake up around an hour later to Eddie, shirtless, playing his guitar super quietly at the bottom of the bed.
"Hey, sleepyhead!"
At first, you're pretty flustered, scrambling to get dressed and apologising like crazy, Eddie shakes his head and tells you that you can stay the night if you want.
"I mean, like I know you and Harrington just broke up and I'm not saying that we're gonna get together or anything but like... I like hooking up with you, yeah? I like hanging out with you too and I know we said no strings attached but honestly, how bad is staying over? A little cuddle, wake up, head to school and pretend we don't know each other; what do you think? I was just about to order pizza anyway..."
You stay that night and the next and then stay the following night too.
Very quickly, you and Eddie get a routine sorted where you'll be at school, pretend you don't know each other, then you'll head to his trailer, grab some snacks on the way, you'll hook up, order food, do something fun whether it be a walk in the woods, a movie, a board game, something then round 2 of sex could happen maybe and then you'll fall asleep wrapped around him.
For a few weeks the two of you do this and you find yourself developing feelings for Eddie. He's funny, my god he makes you laugh so hard, he's surprisingly caring and kind... how could you not fall for him?
Your break up with Steve is still pretty fresh so it freaks you out that already you're wanting to and willing to jump into another relationship so you pull away from Eddie.
You should've spoken to him before hand but you felt sick and just didn't. You cut things off without really explaining much.
Eddie's gutted but acts like he doesn't care. His walls go straight up and all the softness, all the smiles he had for you... gone.
You spend the next few weeks trying to get over the Steve break-up whilst simultaneously trying to get over your 'almost' relationship with Eddie. It's a lonely few weeks. You don't see Eddie at all.
You see Steve at a party and when he tries to patch things up with you, you realise that you don't feel anything for him anymore... that it's someone else you want to be standing here instead. You turn Steve down and you leave.
You drive to Eddie's and you almost break down the door because he won't answer it.
"Open up, Eddie, I just want to talk! Please!"
You spend ten minutes knocking. Eddie's quite dramatic when it comes down to it but eventually, he opens.
"You here to twist the knife?"
"I came to apologise and... we need to talk. Can I come in?"
He's standoffish, who could blame him? He'd opened up to you and you'd shot him down. He was hurt.
"So what'd you want to talk about?"
"I... I'm sorry, Eddie. The way I ended things between us, it wasn't cool. I-I was scared."
"Scared? Pfft. Over what?"
"Over my feelings for you."
The way his face just softens completely. His frown disappears, his arms fall from their crossed stance, his mouth opens ever so slightly.
"I just got out of a relationship. I just wanted to hook up and I thought that's all we were, then we started hanging out and I realised how much I love hanging out with you. Doesn't matter if we fuck or not, I don't care, I just want to be with you in the same room as you doing whatever the fuck we want."
He kisses you. He kisses you hard.
It's all clumsy, stumbling and tripping on your way to the bedroom, lips still connected.
The sex is different that night. There's a deeper meaning than just pleasure. There's something more. Eddie murmurs things against your skin which make your heart burst.
"You drive me crazy, Princess."
"I fell for you that first night you fell asleep here."
"Fuck, I missed you."
Your relationship stays secret again... That is until Eddie talks about you at a Hellfire Club meeting, praising you before realising that Dustin's best friends with Harrington.
Steve's angry. He wants you back so is naturally angry that you've moved on and so quickly. He storms over to your house and doesn't leave until he's gotten all the answers he needs.
"Munson? You're dating Eddie 'the freak' Munson?! Seriously?! I get we broke up, (y/n), but you moved on pretty freaking quickly and with Munson of all people?!"
"Steve, I know! Do you think I went out looking for another relationship? No! It just happened... It just happened."
"Do you love him?"
"I... I don't know."
Steve's pissed but eventually, he calms down and he accepts it. He has to; you're not changing your mind and he knows that he can't force you to break up with Eddie and get back with him. He's not happy but he tells you that if you're happy, he'll cope.
Eddie's like a breath of fresh air. He's just different than what you're used to.
Once all the drama with Steve is out of the way, the two of you are pretty content.
Eddie respects your wishes to continue to keep the relationship secret for a few months until you're fully ready to broadcast it to the world.
He loves knowing that people know you're his; he loves showing you off to everyone - he's possessive like that.
If anyone dares make any sort of 'you moved on quick' or a comment about Steve, Eddie will fly for them. He doesn't want anyone judging you or mocking you just because you're happy again. He hates people's judgemental attitudes.
You spend more time at his trailer and will hitch a ride to school in his van in the mornings.
He teaches you how to play the guitar kinda badly but he's so proud even if you do it all wrong.
Soft kisses on your forehead when you wake up in the mornings.
So much PDA. He's not ashamed and he loves people knowing that you're his.

I don't think there are words to describe what I'm feeling right now.
Hopper, El and I sitting on the floor of Hopper's cabin, because they didn't have time to fix everything else properly yet, eating some pizza.
"God... I missed pizza" Hopper basically moans as he eats a slice.
"I bet" I nod. "Now we gotta get you back to your previous form"
"Don't worry. I'll get there in no time. Gotta make up for all that... well...whatever they fed us" he says with a chuckle.
I can't imagine what he's been through all this time... he deserves to rest... well deserved.
"I missed you" El suddenly says and we turn our head to look at her.
"I missed you too... both of you" Hopper smiles "even if you were a real pain in the ass sometimes"
El and Hopper laugh.
"That's not true!" I defend myself.
"You're right, you're right... you were a real bane" he chuckles and I open my mouth shocked by his words, but amused at the same time.
"You're really not the one to make that argument!" I challenge.
"What? What did I do?" He laughs.
"You weren't that better" El agrees with me.
"Ah!" I exclaim.
"You two are trying to make me regret the Russian prison? Is that what this is?" He jokes taking another big bites of pizza.
"Never. We don't want to lose you anymore" I say with a smile, looking at El who nods.
"Neither do I" Hopper smile is genuine.. Happy and relieved. As if now he can finally take a break.
I feel my eye getting wet from happy tears so I just blink them away with a chuckle.
"Okay, I don't need any more crying. Let's talk about something else" I declare eating my own slice of pizza.
They nod laughing with me.
"Who... who's Eddie? Dustin talked a lot about him" El softly asks.
Oh god.
"Yeah" Hop take advantage of her question "who is Eddie? Uh?"
"I'm so happy you're here I-" I try to change subject again, but Hopper cuts me off.
"Oh no, no, you won't get away with it now. No Harrington to save you this time either. Who. Is. Eddie?" He says with the most triumphant grin I've ever seen.
"Fuck..." I mutter, I look at El, she sends me an apologetic, yet teasing smile so I take a deep breath "he's my boyfriend... since, uh... today"
"Wait... is this Eddie Munson? As in the drug dealer?" He suddenly asks.
"Yeah..." I say, ready to hear him say I shouldn't be with him.
"He better be treating you right, then" he simply says, catching me off guard.
"Wait... is he okay to you? Like no 'you shouldn't associate yourself with people like him' or something?"
"He's always been a good kid, okay? Not a Saint... far from it. But... he did what he had to do. His father wasn't the best person out there" He explains.
"Yeah.. I know" I sigh.
"So... as long as he treats you right and doesn't do anything illegal... he's alright to me" he gently smiles.
"You love him?" El asks. I look at her smiling at me, I nod.
"He better not break your heart"
"Yeah yeah, Steve already gave him the speech" I wave him off.
"Harrington?" Hopper asks sceptically "Cool-Hair? Really?"
I nod, holding back a laugh.
"Okay.." he sighs "I will have to give this Eddie the actual speech, then"
At that El and I burst out laughing, loudly. Hop looks at us with a warm smile before laughing with us.
The evening goes on like this, laughs and catch ups.
Hopped told us about his time in Russia, how he managed to befriend one fo the guards and then escaped with Joyce and Murray's help.
El told us about her experience in high school in California. Which made my blood boil after hearing about this Angela treating her like shit. She then told us how she got her powers back, about Brenner being alive and about what she discovered about her past... how she first defeated One.
I gently grab her hand after she finished talking and she smile at me, grateful.
I told them about Chrissy, how Eddie had to hide because the whole town thought he was the killer. I told them about us being stuck in the Upside Down, our plan and how Eddie almost died to help us.
When it got late Hopper offered to drive me home so I wish El goodnight and go to get in the car with Hop.
"You sure he treats you right?" Hopper asks while he drives.
"I'm sure, Hop. He's really nice" I tell him.
"Gotta meet him.. I mean.. it's my job, now" he says seriously, but I can tell he's smiling.
" you will, I promise. Just don't be too harsh on him, uh?"
"I'll try. No promises."
"So..." I start, after a while, with a teasing tone.
"So?"
"You and Joyce?"
"What about it?" He asks trying to sound casual about it.
"You needed a year in a russian prison to grow some balls?" I tease.
"For the record... I asked her out before being captured. I just got held up" he defends.
"Mmh... I'll ask her" I declare.
"Go ahead" he invites proudly.
I laugh.
"I'm happy for you, Hop" I say "like.. really happy"
"So am I" he replies. "I'm also very proud of you"
"What for?" I ask confused.
"You grew up so much from last time. Not only physically, but you are braver, more confident. Not that you weren't before... but you know. I talked to Dustin and the others, they told me how you defended them. From monsters and from these jocks that hunted your boyfriend down, gotta give me the names by the way, I'm proud of you"
"How do you know about that?" I ask surprised.
"Dustin" he simply answers.
Oh Dusty..
"I got it from you" I shyly say after a moment. "The bravery"
"Nah, you might be a Hopper now, but that courage has always been there. You just needed to believe in yourself a bit more" he chuckles.
"Maybe" I shrug.
"No, no, it's always been there. Trust me. Stop putting yourself down." He gently scolds me.
"I'm trying"
"You better be"
He pulls up to my house and stops the car.
"Thank you" I tell him.
"No problem. It's good to be back to the old habit" he says.
"I..." I start "Uh... when El won't need to hide anymore... maybe.. uh..maybe you two can live here..?"
Silence falls in the car.
"What about your independence, uh?" He tries, to check if I'm messing with him, I think.
" I know how being independent feels like... I think I want to find out what having a family at home feels like.." I look down playing with my rings as I keep talking "there's enough space to gain two more bedrooms... and, uh... it's close to the police station too."
There's silence again so I turn my head to look at Hopper... wiping away some tears.
"Are you crying?" I ask surprised.
"Of course I am!" He replies as a matter of fact and I softly laugh.
"Should I take it as a yes?" I then ask, rhetorically.
"You should. Yes" he tells me with a proud smile. "Now go get some sleep. It's already very late"
I get out of the car with a smile.
"Don't start being the strict father you tend to be!" I warn him.
"You signed the papers, I can be whatever father I want" he jokes.
"The best one. I know" I tell him walking away, not before noticing a surprised and tender smile growing on his face.
I got home and for the first time in a long time I slept like a baby.
No monster to fight, no douchebag to avoid... just a peaceful night of sleep.
"Thanks again for driving us, Argyle" I thank Jonathan's friend, who gently offered to drive me to get Eddie from the hospital.
I'm sitting in the back with Dustin, while Jonathan sits in the front, he and Dustin helped me look around Eddie's destroyed trailer to see what survived and what could be fixed.
One thing in particular seemed to survive just fine. Can't wait to show it to Eddie.
"No problemo" Argyle answers.
"And thank you Jonathan for helping us this morning" Dustin says.
"Don't worry about it, Dustin. Glad I helped." Jonathan smiles.
"You're curious to know Eddie, aren't you?" Dustin asks with a proud grin and I roll my eyes with a laugh.
"Gotta say yes" he laughs.
"I knew it!" Dustin exclaims.
"Why?" I laugh.
"Because one Dustin and Lucas can't seem to shut up about him and two you're family, I need to be sure he's good enough for you" Jonathan explains.
I smile at that, we really are family.
"Are you too gonna threaten him? Get in line I'm afraid" I tell him.
"Who else?" He asks taken aback.
"Well... Steve already gave him the speech, Dustin here wants too, Hop 'gotta meet him'... so... yeah, get in line" I chuckle.
"Can I get in line too?" Argyle asks, as if he was asking if the sit is taken or something "you seem cool, dude, and if you're Jonathan's friend, you're my friend too"
"Thank you, Argyle" I laugh.
"Also... Steve doesn't count" Dustin comments.
"Oohh I'll tell him you said that!"
"You won't!"
"I will" I laugh.
We finally get to the hospital and Dustin and I go get Eddie while Jonathan and Argyle stay in the parking lot.
Dustin knocks at the door and when we hear Eddie's voice telling us to come in we enter.
"There he is!" Dustin announces.
Eddie's standing up putting putting on his shirt and smiles brightly when he sees us.
"Thought you never came" he jokes.
"I tried to leave you here, but Dustin missed you too much" I joke walking to him.
"You tried, uh?" He grabs my waist to pull me to him.
"I did, he didn't listen... now I'm stuck with you" I say feigning annoyance.
"Oh poor lady" he mocks.
"Uh... guys" Dustin speaks "do you mind? Not in front of me? Please?"
"Sorry" I say with a small laugh.
"I'm not sorry, but fine" Eddie shrugs and lets go of me.
"Ready to go, then?" I ask him.
"Yeah" he says grabbing a small bag with some clothes we brought him.
We walk to the exit and I feel Eddie walking as close to me as possible.
I notice some of the people there sending him hatred and scared looks. Even if both the chief and police officers dropped any accusations towards him, and even apologised to him, people in this town can't help but still blame him.
Eddie walks looking down, afraid of what he might see if he met one of those stare, so I grab his hand, squeezing it as we walk, and finally I feel him relaxing as we arrive at the parking lot to Jonathan and Argyle.
We all planned a small dinner with everyone, both to have a real first moment of relief and also to give Lucas an excuse to take a break.
We stop to grab some pizza in this little place close to Family Video, so we can pick up Steve and Robin and then go to the Wheeler's house.
As we wait Robin and Steve joins us.
"Hey there!" Robin and Steve greet us.
"Hey, man. How do you feel?" Steve asks Eddie.
"A lot better" Eddie answers.
"That's good because..." Robin starts walking up to Eddie "because if you dare, or even slightly remotely think about hurting my friend... you are completely and utterly done"
"She skipped the line!" Argyle exclaims.
"Trust me... that's definitely not in my plans.." Eddie replies, taken aback.
"Oh god" I mutter "Guys, can you please stop threatening my boyfriend?"
A chorus of 'ooh's emerges from the group and Eddie turns to me with a proud grin.
"Yeah, guys, and stop getting my girlfriend all flustered" he pulls me to him "that's my job"
A fake gag sound escapes Dustin mouth at that, but I know he's the happiest about it.
After a while of chatting as we wait some people come in, we simply acknowledge them and get back at listening to Jonathan and Argyle talking about California, but I can still feel them staring... and unfortunately I know who they're staring at.
I stay close to Eddie, knowing he feels their stare too, and I try to give him as much comfort as I can.
I lock eyes with Steve who looks at me with a questioning look so I slightly nod at the people staring at us.
Surprisingly Steve turns around to look at them.
"Got a problem?" He asks making them jump taken aback. "Go mind your own business, uh?"
He turns back around and motion Jonathan to go on, and I see him sending Eddie a supporting nod to which Eddie answers with a thankful one.
When we finally get the pizza we immediately head to the Wheeler's.
"No way!" Eddie exclaims " the neverending story song? Really?"
He sits with Lucas, Dustin and Will on the floor and they're telling him about last summer. Dustin tries to hid himself, embarrassed.
Me and the rest sit on the couch and armchairs around them, Mike is with El in Hopper's cabin.
"And he sang it beautifully" I chime in.
"Yeah, Henderson, should've recorded it" Steve joins.
"Ooh I wish I could have been there!" Eddie jokes.
"Oh, no, trust me, you don't" Jonathan tell him, with a small chuckle. "It was messy"
"Yeah, I was just acting tough, man" Eddie replies.
"Just like you pretend you're that big coward, when in reality you're not." Dustin tells him.
"Yeah, Munson you're a hero. Take some credits" Steve says with a shrug.
"The whole town thinks otherwise" he sadly mutters.
"We think you are. And we're the smartest persons you could ever meet so... we're right" Dustin states.
"You do?" Eddie asks.
"Of course, love" I rub his shoulders to comfort him, making him turn around.
"Thanks" he sweetly say, then turn to everyone "really, thank you"
"Plus... I guess we are all freaks here. We stick together" Robin states.
"Exactly!" Dustin exclaims ecstatic.
"Always" Lucas agrees.
"Hey, guys" Karen enters the basement. "Can someone come up here and help me bring down some snacks?"
"We already got pizza, mom" Nancy tells her.
"Can't eat that all night, c'mon" Karen encourages.
I look at Nancy rolling her eyes and getting up.
"I'll come too" I say getting up as well.
"Thanks" she says as we go upstairs.
We arrive in the kitchen and start helping Mrs Wheeler with the snacks.
"It's so nice having you all back to hang out like that" she comments "helping each other out, supporting each other"
"That's what family does, isn't it?" I shyly say.
"Exactly" she replies with a big and warm smile.
I look at Nancy, who's also smiling.
"We also got two good additions I think" she jokes.
"Oh yeah, that.. Argyle seems very nice, a bit in his own world, but nice" Karen says "and Eddie" she looks at me.
"Yeah?" I ask confused.
"Is he nice?" I can hear the teasing in her tone.
"I... well.. yeah.. I mean, everyone loves him" I nervously chuckle.
I see Nancy and her mother sharing a knowing look.
"What's that look?" I ask, half amused by their teasing.
"Oh nothing, nothing. Is he nice... to you?"
I look at Nancy, knowing she already told her mother about me and Eddie, but she shrugs innocently.
"Yeah, Mrs Wheeler. He is" I say, with my cheeks heating up when she gives me a knowing look.
"I'm glad to hear it, sweetie" she gently says, as she puts some peanut butter on a piece of bread.
"He can't seem to have eye for nothing else" Nancy chimes in.
"Yeah, okay, stop teasing me" I jokingly complain.
"Alright alright, c'mon there you go, girls. Have fun" Karen hands us the rest of the snacks she made and me and Nancy walk back downstairs.
"We got food!" Nancy announces and we pit all the food on the table with the rest of the pizza.
"Whoa, does she think we're gonna starve to death?" Steve comments.
"Well, I'm not complaining" Robin replies as she grabs one sandwich.
I walk back to sit on my spot behind Eddie, who still sits on the floor.
"I missed you" he says to me and I tenderly smile at him, still shy from his affection.
We went on chatting and telling stories about the Upside Down so both Eddie and Argyle, who is surprisingly excited about it asking the most absurd questions. For example he asked if we used actual dog snacks to catch the demo-dogs... he definitely is the funniest addition to the group.
"Okay guys it's getting late, I hate to kick ypu out, but you're parents would kill me" Karen says as she wnter the basement.
"Yeah, we better go too. We got a shift at Family video tomorrow morning" Robin explains.
"Alright, let's go then" Jonathan declares standing up and kissing Nancy goodnight.
We all wish Nancy and her parents goodnight before getting into Argyle pizza van.
The first stop is Dustin house.
"Goodnight guys!" He jumps out.
"Goodnight Dusty" I say.
"Oh! Before I forget.." he turns back around pointing his finger at Eddie.
"Oh god..."
"Yeah?" Eddie pays attention.
"She's my sister, Munson. Okay? You hurt her and I'm gonna, personally, shave your hair, then I'm gonna revive one of those bats and cage you in a small closet with it" he seriously tells him.
"Does anyone else want to threaten me?" Eddie asks.
"Well..." Jonathan starts.
"There's a line, dude" Argyle explains.
"You had to be so nice, uh?" Eddie sarcastically says to me, smiling amused.
"It's not my fault. I tried to make them stop" I defend.
"I'm serious, Munson" Dustin repeats.
"I know, Henderson, I know. And trust me, for the millionth time, I have no intention of hurting this lovely lady" Eddie simply says.
"You better" Dustin glares at him before walking to his house.
"Okay, guys, seriously, now stop threatening him, thank you very much." I chuckle.
"Okay"
"Yeah"
"Sorry" Steve mutters.
"Let's go, please" I ask laughing, basically. They're all so sweet, of course, but poor Eddie.
Once we arrive at my house me and Eddie get out of the van.
"Goodnight" Eddie says grabbing his bag.
"Goodnight and thanks for the ride"
"Y/n, one more thing?" Steve calls "Uh... if you hurt him, I'll... uh... hurt you"
Really?
Everyone laughs.
I think he's trying to make Eddie feel really apart of the group, he gave up on his "non-jealousy" and he wants to make him feel included.
"Ooh.. I'm so scared" I sarcastically say, with a chuckle.
I walk back grabbing Eddie's hand and leading him to the house.
"I appreciate the effort though, Harrington!" Eddie yells at him.
"Anytime!" Steve yells back as they drive off.

The Lady and the Lord
Chapter 11
Eddie munson x fem!reader
This is a repost since the old blog doesn't work anymore. 🥰

Chapter warnings: spoiler season 4, cuteness.

"Can I get in line too?" Argyle asks, as if he asked if the sit is taken or something "you seem cool, dude, and if you're Jonathan's friend, you're my friend too"
"Thank you, Argyle" I laugh.
"Okay guys it's getting late, I hate to kick ypu out, but you're parents would kill me" Karen says as she enter the basement.
