i’m back with another “gentle reminders” ask. it goes in line with one of my personal goals this year of trying to work on my kindness and how i show that kindness to others.

the beginning of a new year is always a bit tough for many people, for many reasons but at the scale of the fandom, i have noticed some negativity starting to spread. maybe it’s bound to happen on any social media but i always considered tumblr to be different, to be over the kind of discourse you could find on other apps. this place has been a true haven for many of us and i would like to keep it that way, so i thought, as a way to counterbalance this negativity, i could compensate with a nice message for one of the driving forces in the fandom: our dear writers.

i would like to begin by saying thank you.  thank you for dedicating your time, your energy, your love and sharing pieces of yourself with us. the fandom wouldn’t be what it is without you: just like a body needs a brain or a heart to function properly, fandoms need writers like they need others contributing. thank you for offering diversity, engaging with different tropes and characters to reach as many readers as possible. i will admit, some things proposed are not my cup of tea but i know they can be enjoyed by others, the same way some of my favorite fics wouldn’t necessarily attract others. so thank you for giving a chance to everyone to find what they enjoy, to discover, to learn, to cry, to laugh, to love and to be able to do so in an open, safe space. thank you for interacting with us as well. thank you for responding to our questions, sharing snippets when we get impatient, teasing us with your new ideas and making life a little more fun and exciting every day. and of course, thank you for doing all of this for free. for expecting so little in return when you give us so much.

now a few things i want you to remember: 

although we’re all thankful for having access to your art, your first fan should be yourself. write what you enjoy, write that self-indulgent fic, write your favorite trope, an improbable duo or crossover because you’ve always wanted to. do it for yourself. in the same way, have fun with it. writing is a hobby, it’s not your job, it’s not supposed to be a chore. so do what makes you happy. don’t worry about updating fics, about being slow, about posting too much or too little. some things might take time, some might need an hour to be posted but in the end, they all matter just the same. they’re worth being read and cherished and we will appreciate them. whether you have thousands of notes or barely a few hundreds, you have your place here. you’re still an amazing writer, you’re still an artist regardless of the stats.

-I’ll leave the “how did he and the reader meet and how did he find out about her powers (if she isn’t a hero)” part to the reader’s imagination so let’s start with the relationship in general

-Even in his childhood he lowkey wondered what is it like for psychics in the world

-Oftentimes it almost seemed like taking a glance at a different dimension. Controlling matter with mind, receiving psychic signals, levitating, flying… the list could go on forever

-And after taking a look at you and your mind-boggling talent one can only be left in awe

-You’re well familiar with the contrasting reactions of people. Not always will they be cheering you on, looking at you in all your glory that you deserve. Countless petrified expressions and nasty motives have left their fair share in making you the person you are today too

bro who’s to say what “enough recognition” means? i try to write for myself, so any recognition at all by others is more than enough and more than expected. i do love it when people note that they can see the attention to detail/care/time i put into a piece — because these stories DO take up more brain space and time than they probably should, lmao. 

i love specific comments/feedback — e.g. X line made me feel this, b/c of Y line i wasn’t expecting Z, i noticed that B detail relates to C event/D line in this way. i esp. love that last variation — it tells me that my writing is truly engaging people, and their comment often points out parallels/connections that i hadn’t even noticed/intentionally worked in. and that’s super fun to see!

Oh you have come to the wrong person for this question lmao…. despite joining a secret santa gift exchange… I am not a gift person. I’ve literally planned my own bday camping trip to go on with my friends in replacement of receiving gifts. And I don’t really give gifts either lol we just do white elephant gifts for Christmas. If a friend wants a gift for their bday, I need to be told in advance. So I’m gonna take gifts and turn it into like what would you want to do with them, cuz I genuinely can’t think of anything for gifts lmao. I think he's more clear cut in the way he loves and I think it's pretty much agreed that once he decided he's with you, it's already in his head that he's marrying you. Not that any other character wouldn't ( or that its his goal but it might just be the most sinple way of saying this is forever) but going through those (emotional) milestones with bakugo might be easier since once you break through his exterior and he's decided on choosing you there's no hesitation afterwards so while he's a little rough around the edges,midoriya is a completely different story . Its like trying to pull teeth out, trying to get him to admit he needs help or to let him know that ur there for him. Bakugo is very much, "I don't deserved to be loved because I'm not good enough", whereas midoriya is, "I don't deserve to be loved unless Im paying for it." And he has!! His body is a monument of all the times he's given himself away freely simply bc he doesn't see himself as worthy of anything unless he's bleeding for it. Unless he's kneeling and putting his neck through a guillotine. So standing in the shower and letting himself be vulnerable enough not flinch when you touch him and letting himself feel loved without a price ughhhhhdbjsbsjs 🥺. Thinking about how hard he's trying not fall to his knees and sob because he only dreamed about someone loving him the way he's loved others.

it’s funny tho cuz i always, always, notice when ur in my notifs. i think because maybe sent me an ask i don’t remember but also mostly the time u responded to my hc about bakugo liking the black eyed peas LOOOL and i’m still grateful <3

i for sure agree it’s deku!! like you point out, i definitely think the whole... confusion + being overwhelmed aspect is a lot more him than bakugo, who definitely skirts around being blatant w/ affection but isn’t all that opposed to both giving and receiving. deku, on the other hand, really... waits for you to lead, and because he’s him... is happy to wait forever. So when you suddenly reach out and care for him in a way he’s never experienced before... AHHH.

and just... that specific kind of intimacy too, i see as being very deku. you know, bakugo likes washing himself, so when you do it... it’s more of a vulnerable act. deku... can sometimes (and often) neglects these aspects of self care bc again, he believes his body is for The People... so when you to take control of it and provide? it’s this whole different level of softness and gentleness and love because it’s not related to anything painful or outside of just... showing ur love for him and him alone, as a person. a lover. 

(does that make sense? not that it isn’t all that for bakugo... but he’s more self sufficient in that the washing doesn’t make him fall apart. he falls apart for other reasons and then you’re there to help after)

but uh... yeah. i’m melting thinking about it! and esp because he has such nice hair in general, too. Can you imagine giving him an olaplex or oil treatment for fun and him just... tearing up and then falling asleep in ur lap LOL? he wakes up with the nicest, shiniest curls. i adore him to bits :((
