today i am thinking about ronan lynch always referring to adam as Adam in his thoughts and his monologue but using Parrish when talking to him or about him out loud. something about the illusion of distance, the pretence of detachment he clings onto in public.

someone free me from this very cursed The Raven Cycle inspired bsd au. rich kid Dazai spends all his time researching the supernatural and ley lines in Japan’s country side. He had a (near) death experience as a kid but was saved through supernatural means and now he is unable to die. But the gift of his immortality is unbearable to Dazai. Thus he has dedicated his life to researching the supernatural to figure out what happened to him and how to reverse it. Since his incident he has also been able to see the supernatural. Unfortunately, when he is trying to come in direct contact with the supernatural it dispels, almost like he is nullifying it.

Chuuya is the youngest in a found family household of shrine workers and spiritual mediums. He is the only one in his family that’s not inclined to the supernatural but everyone around him feels the supernatural more severely when he is around. Even though he can’t see the supernatural like his family members do, he helps out and enhances the supernatural during seances and other family business.

When Dazai and Chuuya meet, their opposing inclinations to the supernatural cancel each other out. But the same way their inclinations to the supernatural are opposing each other so are their personalities. Will they get over their differences to work together?

And then there is this little tiny detail that could shake up this potential research partnership. Chuuya has been told since he was a little kid that he would kill his true love with their first kiss. During a seance he enhanced a few months earlier, Chuuya managed to catch a glimpse of an actual ghost for the first time. The ghost of a boy who is supposed to die in the next 12 months. Lippmann told him that non-clairvoyants are only able to see the ghosts of the future-dead if they are the one to kill them… or their soulmate. The boys name? Dazai. And now that Chuuya has met him he is pretty sure he is going to kill him. Right?!

#in 2024 you can expect extremely niche crossovers of my fave pieces of media because that’s something that brings me so much joy #bungou stray dogs #bsd #soukoku #bsd chuuya #bsd dazai #chuuya nakahara #dazai osamu #gansey and blue aren’t really the best roles for dazai and Chuuya since skk feel like an amalgamation of both ronan and adam to me #but considering how intertwined gansey’s storyline is with death I feel like that works well with Dazai #and then I thought about enhancement ability user Chuuya and amplifier Blue #not sure about the rest of the friend group tho #but kunikida with a ronan like ability would be funny but also very cursed #and Oda with a storyline that’s reminiscent of Noah ;)) #to make it work it can only be loosely inspired by the books #stealing random bits and pieces and going from there #any bsd trc enjoyers around?!?!?!? #I can’t really talk to my gf about this cuz they haven’t read the books yet u_u #especially the noah oda thing…………

do you ever think about how NONE of the gangsey really had friends before they met each other besides henry? the only people we know gansey interacted with before meeting adam and ronan are people like mallory, who i wouldn't really count as super close friends. we know blue was the odd girl at school. that the only people adam seems to really interact with are gansey, ronan, and noah at the start of the raven boys. we know ronan was close with his brothers, but never mentions any close friends growing up. even noah is only really described as having one close friend (whelk) in high school, and we all know how that one ended up.

i think a lot about how messy the friendships are in that group, but it wasn't until today that i realized that part of the reason might be because none of them have really had friends before. it makes sense that henry, the ONE person who actually seems to have friends besides the gangsey, is also the one who is the most upfront with getting friends, and the one who seems to be really good at picking up his new friends' strengths. he's already been there before, so he knows how to interact within groups like that. everyone else is still figuring out that dynamic all throughout the series.

#it also explains why adam has so much trouble opening up to his new friends at harvard in the dreamer trilogy #his one standard is the gangsey #and more specifically gansey #he tries mimicking gansey's method of gathering people down on their luck because that's the ONLY thing he knows #but gansey is also not the best at opening up to people #so adam never once really thinks about how to do that #especially when everything that happened in henrietta within the gangsey was generally group knowledge since its a small town #its hard to hide things there #you can even make an argument for ronan struggling so much in the trilogy because he's never had long distance friendships before #he's still trying to figure it out #but failing miserably at it #the gangsey #trc #the raven cycle #gansey iii #richard campbell gansey iii #adam parrish #ronan lynch #blue sargent #noah czerny #henry cheng

I really do love how much gansey enjoys dressing how he does.

when he tells blue that he likes her name just fine (but also likes the name jane), he reassures her by saying that "some of [his] favorite shirts are blue."

and when blue teases him for his brightly colored polo shirt at the abandoned church, he tells her, "aquamarine is a wonderful color, and i won’t be made to feel bad for wearing it,"

when he can't wear his favorite yellow sweater, his day is made additionally miserable in a brown sweater "that looked exactly on the outside like gansey felt on the inside"

he's so dramatic about his choice of clothing and I love him for it

on the occasion that we do read him to be wearing a loose t-shirt and jeans, he describes himself as slovenly, dressed distastefully to bury a body.

but he doesn't judge anybody else for wearing their regular clothes. in fact, he is constantly described to be especially attracted to blue when she's wearing some truly chaotic outfits.

he doesn't dress in his preppy-bright way to feel better than anybody, he likes the way he looks in the clothes that he chooses, regardless of how he is teased by his friends (in a way that i would even liken to blue, except his choices are more generally socially acceptable). and even though blue avoids looking at his shoes bc it makes her feel better about him as a person in trb, I like to think that she loves him in an all-encompassing way that includes his choice of clothing by the end of the series.

even after all these years the gang learning about noahs ghostliness is so funny to me. like obviously they are freaked out that their friend is dead and was murdered. but no one is having a revelation about ghosts being real its not even mentioned. its like yea yea we all accept the existence of ghosts. back to the one living in our apartment.

the sun dogs that Declan uses in his massacre, those were Ronan's dream, and he used them first, when the moderators came after Declan and Matthew at the townhouse

Ronan wasn't there in person putting bullets directly in heads too the way Declan was, but he did very much cause several people to die horrible violent deaths 😂

A commenter on my SECOND EVER fanfic wrote that my way of thinking is BAD FOR THE WOLRD, because I said HUMAN HISTORY is why I had Camila assume that the conclusions about basilisks Hunter read in Boiling Isles scientific journals were very likely tainted by racism. Then they wrote a very long comment about how people like me are throwing aways thousands of years of science and proclaimed that their comment should serve as a valuble lesson to all.
