jevil & noelle friendship post
hi, i want to talk about how noelle and jevil would definitely get along well or even be friends! also how their characters contrast nicely with each other and could possibly have a dynamic as interesting and engaging as spamton does with kris. this is quite a long post, so yeah grab a seat lol. first off, take a look at noelle’s reaction to both of jevil’s items:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
noelle likes horror movies, and jevil definitely fits that scary clown trope. the description for jevilstail is “a j-shaped tail that gives you devilenergy”, and it can be equipped on noelle. considering her comment, and how she compliments susie’s tail later, this could mean she thinks tails in general are cute (perhaps longer ones? susie is often headcanoned to have a lizard-esque tail while jevil has his j-shaped devil one. noelle has a deer tail which is pretty small lmao, kinda unrelated but i’m sure it could be for a silly reason like that, and in susie’s case, highlighted by her crush on her).
the fact noelle can equip jevilstail and say she likes an item that gives her “devilenergy” is very interesting too, and kinda goes along with what she said in the ferris wheel cutscene, how she wishes she could break the rules and be more like susie who isn’t afraid to do that. compare that to ralsei’s “i’m a good devil, ok?” and susie’s “figured i’d grow one someday” and you’ll see how noelle likes the idea of being “devilish” but is pretty shy about it as she mutters it.
now let’s talk about devilsknife. devilsknife is a susie weapon, it is pretty powerful and the name itself is already scary sounding. of course, noelle can’t equip it since her weapon type is supposed to be rings, but she doesn’t seem that scared when presented with the item, unlike ralsei who says it feels “too evil”. this is what she has to say:
Tumblr media
devilsknife, as in jevil, smiles at her. now, how could she be seeing that? most people interpret this smile as the blade deforming itself to resemble jevil’s face, or his own smile being reflected in the blade. however, there’s a detail a lot of people have missed (as well as this little moment altogether which is one of few the indicators of jevil’s actual and current presence in chapter 2).
this is devilsknife’s description:
Tumblr media
there’s a skull symbol emblazoned in the blade (which is a hybrid between a scythe and an ax, aka what lets susie equip it due to her weapons all being axes).
now, according to my own headcanons due to certain wording jevil uses in his fight, like “EVEN DEVILSKNIFE IS SMILING!” and “LET’S MAKE THE DEVILSKNIFE.”, plus how tasque manager has the exact same reaction to both of jevil’s items, meaning she knows it’s him/knows of his presence there - contradicting the common idea that jevil is not the jevilstail and thus not in the inventory due to his wording in chapter 1 - but still regarding the devilsknife with some strange familiarity which could imply she knows it is a weapon and has possibly not only met jevil but fought him before: “silly tail” vs “silly Devilsknife”, capitalized...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...make me believe devilsknife and jevil are not one in the same, and are only “fused” (metamorphosis?) in the inventory. while i know certain details are hard to portray in a tiny sprite, you can see there’s no skull symbol anywhere in the devilsknife’s blade which has more empty space, and given how it’s “emblazoned” it would mean it’s a printed/engraved symbol somewhere.
so my small tangent here is that the skull only appears once jevil and devilsknife are fused together and in your inventory. considering how scythes are often seen as a grim reaper's weapon and associated with death, having jevil become the actual devilsknife and clearly maintain his conscience would nicely translate into a skull symbol appearing. the “THIS BODY CANNOT BE KILLED!” line also gives this some more depth. given how jevil’s "mind" is chained to his "body", as he gives a lot of emphasis to his body (”THEY CRAVED TO IMPRISON MY BODY”) and the association of how his mind is “free” while his body stays locked up paints a grim picture on how he was deemed insane, yet found a loophole in that, and thus “freedom”.
Tumblr media
scythes are also famous for beheadings. jevil has no neck, his head separated from his body. and bringing all that back to noelle, THIS is how he smiles at her. pretty morbid, right? cool as fuck too :o)
of course, these are noelle’s only direct interactions with jevil through his items, but i’d also like to bring attention to how her themes and symbolism go along so well with jevil’s, just like spamton’s go with kris’s.
kris is often likened to demonic imagery, aka their creepy red eyes, the use of the horns headband, how they have an interest in summoning demons due to their search history, and finally: king calling them "lightbringer" which is just what “lucifer” means in latin + that word itself is generally associated with lucifer, satan, what have you. noelle has obvious ties with angels: being called one by both spamton and pink addison while on a snowgrave route, her comment about growing big angel wings in the ferris wheel cutscene, the angel doll her and dess made which rudy keeps around as a good luck charm, and so on. spamton and jevil, respectively, are the opposites in that regard when compared to kris and noelle, so the contrast here is really damn fun to think about and explore.
another thing is how both noelle and jevil are incredibly powerful and involved in violent acts (though you know how snowgrave goes, of course), and how kris and spamton are in a very similar predicament as puppets who try to fight back. i believe just like how spamton and kris both managed to relate to each other’s despair and tried to help each other out (albeit in a very warped way in spamton’s case), i think noelle and jevil would have a similar thing.
lemme talk about something interesting in the snowgrave route. there is a pattern going on with noelle that is slightly overlooked, which is this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1) a order is given by the player through kris, often “proceed”. 2) the screen goes black, the iceshock sound is heard. 3) noelle is completely confused about what just happened.
in the weird route, there are several times where noelle zones out, and while the moment people focus on is when she’s using snowgrave on berdly, the iceshock on the puzzles + the pink addison to get the freeze ring are very important. she comments later on how the battles are blurring together and how she cant remember a lot of details, she just followed "kris's" command and acted accordingly. a similar thing might have happened when she iceshocked spamton neo too, as the screen goes black again.
Tumblr media
considering how she says “there was so much snow, i couldn’t see anything” after berdly is in the ice, i believe whenever she uses her power while aided by the player (and later, her own, as seen in the last puzzle where she does it by herself, leading to when she encounters berdly where she was just about to freeze him, completely on “automatic mode”, seemingly just waiting for the actual order) her mind goes blank, and she just acts as instructed. noelle might even look like this while the screen is black, which is a bit haunting to me:
Tumblr media
going back to jevil, and knowing how prone to violence/chaos he is, i believe he would be able to sense her affinity for power and maybe even help her control it, likely for his own gain as he is hypocritical (strips the player of choice once you arrive with the key and refuse to open his cell), though similarly to spamton and kris, jevil could feel some kind of connection with noelle’s power and how dangerous it can be.
i believe jevil could help noelle get a hold of herself when using her magic and not just follow someone else’s commands, as well as keeping a clear head through it all. he’s pretty damn powerful himself, so he would instead help her come up with her own strategies and willpower, even if his teachings might fall flat due to his own insistence on having her cause chaos. i believe that can overruled by noelle's kindness and gentleness, and due to jevil's own influence on her (to be more bold and assertive, as she expresses she wishes she could be more like susie and break the rules like i said before), whatever "plan" he may have on turning her into this powerful killing machine backfires simply because she says no to him. lol his own strong personality boosts her shy and scared one so that itself is his own failure, i think that’s hilarious and a great character study for the both of them!
i headcanon jevil calls her "headlights" as a reference to how she's easily scared + a cruel nod to the “deer in the headlights” thing, which fits with his character who has probably a morbid sense of humor. noelle would definitely be intimidated by him at first, but i think she’d warm up to him due to her own interests in “scary” people, firstly her crush on susie and secondly her strange friend jevil who looks like a killer clown in the flesh. an easygoing, kind kid in jevil's life would also brighten it up :) he could definitely use a gentle presence in my opinion, i mean. guy’s said to be a loner, even if he had seam.
long post, but yeah! i know the susie and jevil connection is easier to make because of their brief interaction, devilsknife etc, but i feel like noelle and jevil being friends is very unique and more interesting to me personally. if kris has their scammer puppet uncle, noelle has the silly, slightly intimidating clown (also uncle coded) who helps pick out her fits for halloween and do her makeup. she also gets to wear out five hairbrushes on the wavy mess that’s under his hat, then braids his hair during the afternoon and shows him different hairdos, choosing the one jevil’s eyes dilated at. kris takes a picture of him looking handsome under noelle’s care and hits ‘send’ saying “ey uncle spamgton check out ur lover boy” while spamton tells them to “del3te THIS”.
it’s nice it’s cool!! let jevil and noelle be friends!!

Tryna figure out how the player will work in Alter3 + how to indicate their actions and I think I got an idea.
Ignore the poor quality it's a phone doodle but I think the point comes across.
In game there are actions that Kris is more likely to take, I imagine this feels alot more comfortable to Kris, sometimes to the point they don't even notice it isn't their own action. (Sometimes they're even like "am I even being possessed or did I just gaslight myself"). These actions are indicated by the half soul half asterisk. It's something Kris would have done anyway.
The full soul indicator is taking an action Kris would not have taken and often actively dislikes (something as simple as hugging Ralsei, or something as extreme as Snowgrave)
Then the asterisk + brackets indicator is Kris' thoughts. They're not visible to the player and not audible to anyone else. They're probably just gonna be used as an insight into Kris during the comic.
I imagine the soul isn't actively malicious. They're very curious, and don't really understand Kris but they're not evil. (In this AU they've spared every enemy, no snowgrave here, not even in other saves). But they also prioritise their own self interests. They're a HUGE Ralsei fan and will dote on him every opportunity given (much to Kris' dissatisfaction). Overall Kris isnt happy with them but is kinda glad they don't seem evil. They're playing nice and Kris just kinda hopes they keep it up and leave soon.
Doesn't stop Kris from hating them though.

I was scrolling through my dash and something struck me so hard, I had to share it.
Tumblr media
This piece from the newsletter seems...oddly specific.
Like yeah, it's cute they're dressed as each other. And it was Halloween when this was uploaded in the newsletter, so a lot of people glossed this over, including myself.
But, I don't know...something about this seems like odd foreshadowing to me after stumbling upon it again. Like, this is what roles and/or characterizations the party will end up becoming over time during the story.
Kris becomes Ralsei - the helper. They don't like being controlled by the player, but maybe by taking a third option and becoming a party member where they don't have to be controlled by the player is fine for them. Maybe to them, being a party member is more freeing than being the hero, even if they are still being controlled technically, just by code instead of a person. It would be extra poignant to the choices do not matter moniker of the game if becoming a non-controllable party member is a choice given to Kris. It does not matter because either way, Kris would still be controlled by an outside force.
Susie becomes Kris - the true main character/hero. The one that will ultimately save the day at the end for one reason or another. One of the most interesting things about Kris' dark world appearance is how they resemble a knight in shining armor, I think this is an indicator of the design being taken in a more traditional fairytale route rather than being an indicator that Kris is the villainous Knight (though this won't stop me from believing that Kris may become a Knight, but I digress). By taking over Kris' role, Susie becomes the "knight in shining armor" for both the Lightners and Darkners.
But most interesting of all Ralsei becomes Susie - the uncontrollable wildcard. Not evil, or malicious, but more surprising and maybe even more ruthless than what he initially began as. I can easily imagine a situation where Ralsei suddenly becomes hostile because of advancing stakes or various sequences "meant to happen" suddenly breaking. Alternatively, there's also a scary realization that hit me recently. Asgore did things in order to keep his people happy, which lead him into killing 6 souls. Asriel was lead into Chara's plans to kill six souls even though he was opposed to it because he believed it was the only way to free the monsters. Ralsei so far is similarly motivated in keeping others happy and doing what others feel is right even if he disagrees. Ralsei isn't evil, but maybe there will be a part of the game where he has to kill someone, even if he really doesn't want to. Breaking his spirit to the point where his personality changes. Maybe even becoming similar to the Asriel players face in Undertale. Now what situation would have Ralsei killing someone make sense in all routes? Well...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taking a dying parent to a dark world to heal them, only to have them being brought back...
Tumblr media
art by @hebby-arts
...horribly wrong...certainly seems like a plausible choice.
A stretch, but this is the second best possibility on how Ralsei becomes the wildcard I can think of.

deltarune rambling time yippee
i think deltarune is in an interesting spot in terms of like... theres a lot of theories that have had a lot of time to develop, and like. i dont think these specific conditions have really happened to a game before. having a big audience of lore nuts AND giving them 2 chapters worth of solid concrete stuff and then havin em wait? its very, very interesting
(rereading this post i think i might reword or add an addendum to it later since i kinda didnt quiiite word my thoughts on Big Theories below exactly right. it feels like im saying that every theory is just gonna be wrong... when i just think that the nature of the lore has a decent chance to be able to almost... parody theorizing, if its based on the nature of fiction and creation. which would make deep theories not WRONG but not RIGHT, just unprovable)
like, ive skimmed through big theories that seem larger than i could even imagine deltarune itself being... not to say i believe theyre entirely wrong, but just that. it definitely wont be explained to THAT degree in game...
what im really tryna say though is, yknow, i distance myself from the bigger theories because im patient and also because i ... dont wanna spoil myself if the theories are perfectly right but especially, a big reason, is the typical classic "don't get your hopes or expectations up" dont get me wrong, ive got big hopes for deltarune and some healthy hype, but i aint gonna get my expectations all fixated on some gigantic theory of the entire overarching metanarrative. i think its great that people are developing so many theories though involving like, the depths and stuff. because worst comes to worst? well, toby fox has just convinced people to write their own stories. and for a game that seems to be shaping up to be about the nature of fiction and creation? seems fitting (genuinely i expect chapter 3 to be the birth of SO many deltarune AUs, out of what is proven wrong or left ambiguous) so yeah, i dont say this to be like "nah no ones gonna be right, toby doesnt have big plans" because im certain he does have some big master plan in the lore but i also believe the lore wont necessarily focus around what we're expecting, if that makes sense. if the game is about fiction, which it clearly is to some degree with the whole. ralsei pushing us down the path of a generic prophecy where we are heroes and vanquish evil... and then immediately dissecting Good Guys vs Bad Guys in ch1 and very much making it a point that we're trying to be kept ON the path of a very specific story. both us and kris.
i think i kinda worded some of this wrong but like TLDR? i do believe toby has big lore plans, but i think theres a decent chance they wont actually get super deep into like, worldbuilding all the logic of dark worlds for example. because... well, the lore could very well be that dark worlds arent logically explainable, yknow. something like the collective unconscious kinda logic. or like terapagos in pokemon being a kind of... paradoxical thing because its born based on belief in it
maybe im wrong thjough. either way, i am excited for deltarune. whatever direction it goes in, ill be happy.

I really liked your answer about missing horror in Käärijä/JO fics, I wanna hear more! <3 do you have some ideas what would make it good?
also 🍌
I'll answer the fruit ask first and then share some ideas!! :D
what's the funniest joke/reference you've made in your fics?
I generally don't rlly pay attention to humor in my fics tbh, if an idea for a funny moment or dialogue comes to me in the moment I'll write it but otherwise jokes are usually accidental. But something that does come to mind is the subtle running joke in the deaf! Jere AU that Kris is still the only single in the group lmao Also in stalker! Tommy, writing Tommy as being shocked and dejected whenever Jere reacts badly to him doing something evil like killing people is extremely funny to me like what did bro expect 😭☠️
Anyways here's some horror concepts for JO/Kä crew 👀
Stalking in general I feel is a great concept for psychological horror. Whether it be one of the JO/Ka members themselves or stories where the fans are the obsessive ones. I was going to do a stalker! Jan one but I also think a fic where the band/Ka crew have to deal with parasocial fans could be very interesting. I wouldn't think of it as villainizing fans but more so calling out the sometimes scary behavior some people have towards their idols. The more realistically written, the better imo
I'm also very obsessed with doppelganger horror. I wrote a short doppelganger Käärijä story back in the summer but I think this concept would also be super interesting with Häärijä as the evil clone/copy. He's such a comedic relief and unserious character so it'd be very cool to see him in a scarier role like trying to steal Jere's identity etc
Another concept is body horror with Jere but I do feel more hesitant about that one because I was thinking of it in a medical context. How horrific it is to feel your body slowly decaying and that you become weaker and weaker. This one would have to be written very tastefully and considerate though because it's a real trauma Jere went through and I wouldn't just want it to be something written for shock value or gore. But I do think horror is an underrated way to portray those topics
Hope these were interesting anon! ^_^ If anyone wants to experiment with any of these concepts absolutely feel free to btw!!

REVIEW: One of Us Is Lying by Karen M McManus
*Contains Spoilers*
5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is one of those rare cases that I actually watched the tv show, before I read the book. The show was really good, and I figured since I loved it so much the book must be even better.
If you're wondering this book is like a mix of Breakfast club - gossip girl - Pretty little liars - and even revenge.
Its the epitome of YA murder mystery that I ADORE!
There were actually some really big differences between the first season of the show and the book. It didn't alter my rating, I am actually glad we get 2 alternate endings in both. One a little lighter, and one a little darker.
The #1 major difference between the series and the book is the identity of Simon's killer. In the show, Jake and Simon planned a prank where Simon would fake an allergic reaction to peanut oil, but Jake got scared when Simon revealed he had recorded their conversations. Jake stole the epi pens, leading to Simon's death. In the book, Simon died by suicide and involved Jake in his plan to frame others for his murder. The series added the detail of Simon being the mayor's son, which wasn't significant in the book. Simon brought Jake in to take over About That after his death. Jake was pure evil, as he also manipulated a conversation with Janae to blackmail her into compliance after Simon’s death.
I liked Simon’s story better in the series as it was less “13 reasons why” and more a murder situation. Jake & Simon were also more “friendly” in the series than the books and there was no mention of Simon’s funeral & the xbox in the book.
#2 Nate and Bronwyn's relationship had more development in the book. In the series, Bronwyn initially dated Evan but became interested in Nate after Simon's death.
I really enjoyed their romance more in the books. I understand that for tv they may have wanted to drag out them coming together a bit more for ratings, but the book did it well. Bronwyn does sort of ‘date’ Evan at the end of the book, but of course ends up back with Nate. I also liked both characters better in the book.
#3 Maeve in the book was the gang's tech expert but was not romantically involved with Simon or Janae. However, in the series, she had romantic ties to both of them. Bronwyn still had a reason to confront Simon in the book due to an About That post about her sister, and Maeve appeared on the app after getting drunk at a party, not for sexting as shown in the show.
I enjoyed Maeve way better in the book than in the series. In the series she was conniving and at odds with her sister at times. Bronwyn kept so many secrets from her and in the book they were very close, and Bronwyn told her everything.
#4 The detention teacher, Mrs. Avery, played a role in Simon's death in the series by being blackmailed to get the Bayview Four into detention. In the book, Mr. Avery was the detention teacher and had no involvement in Simon's death. Simon paid students from another school to create a fender bender to remove Mrs. Avery from the room.
I was expecting this to be the same in the book as they kept hinting that the police should look into the teacher but in the end they had nothing to do with it.
# 5 Cooper's outing as gay had more significant consequences in the book. In the series, his brother and girlfriend already knew about his sexual orientation, but in the book, Cooper was completely closeted. Cooper's father's reaction was also more homophobic in the book.
I preferred Cooper’s story more in the books than in the series.
#6 Kris, Cooper's boyfriend, had a minor role in the book since Cooper was not out. In the series, Kris knew Nate and attended Cooper's baseball showcase. In the book, Kris knew Cooper was in high school and not out, leading to a temporary breakup in the series. Despite his limited role, Kris was the one who connected the dots about Simon's depression and dark suicide plot in the book.
I loved Kris in the book, but not so much on the show. I felt like their relationship overall was much healthier in the book. Once Cooper was outed he and Kris were basically hanging out with the murder club openly and I liked Kris’ involvement.
#7 Janae knew about Simon's whole plan in the book.
I liked Janae so much more in the show. In the book she knew everything and let it happen. I found it very disturbing she knew Simon was planning on this suicide mission and she try to didnt prevent it.
#8 Jake was arrested, and not killed in the book. Whereas in the show, Addy kills him when he attacked them in the forest after a party.
This is a major twist and is different from the show. Which will make watching season 2 and reading book 2 completely different experiences.
There were other small differences in the series vs the books, I couldn't keep track of all of them but one that stood out was Ashton’s presence in Addy’s life. She was around for everything. She wasn't in the series.

Spamton G Spamton
(From this ( x ) ask meme)
Oh boy... It's been 84 years since I got to talk about my other interests that are not Soulsb0rne xD Yes, I AM still waiting for Deltarune to be finished, just accept it </3
First impression: Bwahahaha, he is so funny! What the fuuuuuuuck xD I don't know how I never expected anyone like that from a COMPUTER-themed Chapter, but what the fuuuuck! xDDDD
Impression now: Honestly? This character cannot be OVER-rated. He is objectively good, and no amount of "hurr hurr mainstream :/" will make him cringe. Yes, that includes fanart that is not quite truthful to his real vibe. I just think he is a very good character - a much more sympathetic example of the character in the setting that gets to learn something he (probably) should have never known, and futility of fighting against it than, say, Jevil was. Jevil SIMPLY went mad, Jevil SIMPLY decided that if nothing is real then none are pain and deaths of people around him... Spamton, though? He still clings to the things he used to care about, he shares much more backstory from his former, more naive self, that 'self' is still alive within him, he wants to be 'real' rather than falling for complete insanity... There are just so many layers to him - all for the character whose EVERY fucking quote sounds like a shitpost. I appreciate the dissonance between his serious lore and his shitposty behavior a lot, actually. The classic of Indie games, hands down, one of the best Deltarune characters yet.
Tumblr media
Favorite moment: You remember THE horror we all felt when by following his directions, we walked in the dead end room, and then tried to walk out of it...... only for the layout of the former screen to fucking CHANGE and create another dead end ;-; Also, the creepy smiley faces in the darkness. Fuckin. Fuckin CLASSIC of pixeley indie RPGs. I loved that small moment soooooo much. It is not to belittle his other moments - every single time he interacts with us and Kris is GOLD anyway. xD
Idea for a story: Lol, that's a hard one, let me refresh my memory... Well, I remember I came up with an idea of him and Noelle interacting - as an AU, or maybe parallel turn of events, or maybe 'it could not have happened in the game or else the chapter would not be fun, so just imagine if Deltarune story was NOT a game'... Yeah. I thought she'd find him funny, and that'd be how they'd strike a conversation.. And in that case, instead of Kris putting the (metaphorical) engagement and marriage rings on her, it'd be placing metaphorical princess and queen crowns on her. She'd basically become his secret weapon, convinced that Kris was possessed by an entity (TECHNICALLY true, by the way...) and they needed to extract it for everyone's sake (of course, for Spamton's first of all, hahah). SO yeah, Noelle would arrive as his secret weapon and have battle with the team instead. It also happened before some LORE about Noelle and Spamton got dropped, so when I also learned THAT, I was pleasantly surprised xD I am a prophet for real sfdfdhsd
Unpopular opinion: Hmmm... Well, I think fandom should never forget that he is both very sleazy AND very much of a loser. x) The last time I checked the fandom, I saw him either as a cute babyboy that toooootally simps for Swatch, OR as a super smart badass mastermind. But he is neither! He is a loser and cringe and fail, but at the same time tries his best to be sneaky. Not a nice person, but not an evil mastermind. He is cringe, but not JUST a comic relief - he has a lot going on! Just imagine a trademark card dealer sneaky guy being struck with the knowledge beyond his understanding... That's it. Basically, my unpopular opinion is just that with Spamton, it is a constant fight of the balancing the character! He is simpler than fandom portrays him AND more complicated than fandom portrays him at the same time!
Favorite relationship: Lol, all his relationship SUCK (source: check his lore) and none of this stuff is genuine anymore </3 However, I am a huge sucker for backstory material where he was still a wholesome family with the Addisons. I see them as actual brothers (divisions of the same concept for Darkners), with Spamton being more like adopted one. But, they all were cringe salespeople at some point! The Knight just HAS to always pick the outcast... Like how Joker card is the least used (so we got Jevil), and how natually, spam is the least checked kind of e-mail and advertisement... But he WAS their cringe weird brother at some point, who was failing but tried his best, and they still accepted him!
Favorite headcanon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My favorite headcanon is that it was acid x) As much as I love the theme of a Darkner turning more toylike upon learning about the sheer HORROR of their existence, there are still other darkners who were not exposed to Chaos that show toy-like features. So yes, he had to be rebuild, I think.
-----------------------------------
Thank you for an ask! x) Sorry if anyone here doesn't like Deltarune (and maybe Undertale too). I don't get to talk about this interest all that often, but UTDR is still one of my favourite pieces of fiction, and this character in particular IS one of my all time favs </3

1, 9, & 11 for the salty asks?
thanks for asking! gonna go ahead and answer these for fire emblem since thats the fandom im most active in as a fandom
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
oh man, a lot. a lot of heterosexual ones, i feel like? alm/celica. merric/elice feels so abrupt and meaningless in the way that basically any of the non-main-protagonist NES game relationships do, even when they try to retcon it in in the remakes, because it just...forget chemistry, they don't have any interactions! like what!!
felix/sylvain. like, i dunno, i just don't really feel any emotions looking at these two. they are fine? they're fine. i don't...that's it. lmao
also, honestly to an extent i don't really get tharja/robin in awakening. like, i love both characters on their own, but they don't really gel for me in the same way they seem to for a whole lotta other people lol.
ALSO! not fire emblem and i am not in a "fandom" as such for full metal alchemist but shipping roy mustang and riza hawkeye Does Not Gel For Me. i get why people do it but like...i do not understand it.
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
i bear grudges especially towards Arvis FE4 (because the narrative treats him as noble and well-intentioned, and basically just tells us that he means good without doing literally anything to back it up) and Gray Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (because i am so fucking sick to death of "guy bothers uninterested woman until she relents into having a relationship with him" AND they always end up in a fucking relationship in their end cards even if you didn't unlock any of their supports).
also shoutouts to olwen FE5, who rules hard and who i love don't get me wrong, but whose supporting cast (fred and reinhardt) are like...way less cool than her. i especially do not vibe with reinhardt, considering he chooses not to defect despite presumably knowing about the child hunts (!), meaning the intended arc of "tragically you cant recruit this cool dude" falls flat because...is he really that cool if he can't be arsed to stop perpetuating tangible horrific evils in fiction? then again, he is working with ishtar, who is described as saving as many kids as possible--but also that only gets mentioned in her other game, which means it's not brought up directly with reinhardt--look the point is i'm not interested in him he's a boring man and i don't know why he has sixteen different alts in Heroes when olwen has one. olwen is the cooler fucking sibling get a grip lmao
i also hate virion (any man who is introduced chasing after a vocally uninterested woman is not worth my while, doubly so if he does not have any sort of tangible character arc), berkut (GOD. AWFUL man. somehow manages to fridge his own wife??? you should be able to recruit rinea in echoes i am forever peeved about this. he's an excellent villain all the way up until you can't recruit rinea about it), and perne (because the narrative apparently believes that kidnapping and torturing a young girl into doing your bidding via frightening her with insects is, like, not a big deal you guys don't sweat it).
11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
i love Kris from new mystery of the emblem, i think she rules, she's a goofus. big fan. also all the new mystery gang tbh. i would say i don't understand why people hate her so much, except i do, and it's the same old same old "everything was better in the old days, when we didn't have support conversations or characters with more than 1 line of dialogue" that you get in every fandom, but i've certainly noticed in fire emblem.
i love edelgard, but i wouldn't say the fandom doesn't: i would say some of the fandom doesn't, but it's a split it would seem. i fucking adore monica but so does everybody else with taste. i really like wendy (inasmuch as anyone in the binding blade has a character), admittedly half due to her class as armored knight and half out of spite at how her wiki page says she's non-viable, but there's a solid half in there to appreciate her on her own merits also. this is again a mixed opinion and not a totally unpopular one, but i love ingrid, i think her story arc is fascinating. i LOVE jill i think her story arc is super compelling, she's one of my favorites. look, i don't know, who's unpopular? if you get me a list of "unpopular" fire emblem characters i will probably pick out every woman on there and be like "aw cmon she's cool/underutilized/worthy of appreciation". except camilla.
thanks so much for asking! this was very fun.

Chuck Taylor x Reader (but no actual Chuck in this installment, sorry)
Part One?
Summary: You and Orange Cassidy are hanging out alone and you accidentally confess something you never meant to say out loud.
Rated PG for some mention of drinking alcohol / being drunk
Ever since you could remember, all of your best friends had been boys. That was why you had been watching wrestling since you were just a kid, among many other personality traits that only seemed to deepen with age. But as you got older you wondered, did it make you one of those women to constantly surround yourself with men? It wasn't as if you didn't have any female friends. There was Kris and ... Well, there was Kris.
Something told you that this particular quirk wouldn't be changing anytime soon, although, if you couldn't control your feelings you might find yourself with no friends instead of all male friends.
When you first came to work for AEW, Chuck and OC were the easiest people to talk to. You found you had the most in common with them, and even where your common interests ended, you loved to listen to the two of them go on at length about Resident Evil or even basketball, which you had never followed before. You related to them and to Trent and Kris because you also had a tendency to be unpolished in your promo work. You found it easier to just be yourself in the ring and out of it, even when it was for an angle. It was what made crowds fall in love with The Best Friends, and so far it had worked for you too.
So it was just the next logical step for Tony to start to pair you guys up together. It started with one tag match with Kris, but it soon grew into something bigger, until finally you were coming out with the rest of the gang in matching tracksuits.
Just like you weren't sure if you could pinpoint the exact moment that you became an official member of the team, you also weren't sure if you could remember when you realized you had fallen completely and totally in love with Dustin. The one thing you did know was that you could never ever tell him, let alone anyone else in your tightknit group.
So what were you doing at Orange's apartment at 2 AM? How had you managed to lose track of how many beers you had had? How did he seem so calm, cool, and collected? And why did he keep bringing the topic of conversation back around to Dustin?
"Sometimes he just gets insecure, you know?" Orange took another swig from his can. He was relaxed, a slight blush to his cheeks. His hair was slightly more mussed than usual and he wasn't wearing his signature shades, but other than that you would be pressed to spot the difference between the appearance of this Orange Cassidy and the one he played on TV. Plus, he wouldn't shut up. "Sometimes when we are alone, I try to reassure him a little. He's like an older brother to me. He doesn't get what a great guy he is."
You nodded. You were trying to play it cool but your poker face is terrible. Inside, you were melting at the tender way that Orange was describing his closest pal, so you were certain it was written all over your expression. You tried to change the subject for what must have been the third time, but Orange just went on.
"Sometimes I think he's lonely. But he'd never admit it. Like, tonight for example. Tonight, I invited him over." You couldn't help but look surprised. You felt your eyebrows shoot up. Orange jabbed the hand holding his beer in your direction. "Exactly, Y/N, exactly. He turned me down when I mentioned you would be here." Orange noticed your face fall and he got apologetic. "No no no, not like that. Dustin loves you. But sometimes I think he is too scared to be vulnerable around anyone. He was too scared to be here, just the three of us."
You sank back into the couch. The room was starting to spin and you weren't sure how much of it you could actually blame on the alcohol. "I think I'm in love with him." The words bubbled out of you before you realized you were speaking and not just thinking them for the millionth time. But they were quiet.
Orange leaned in towards you, setting his beer down on the coffee table. "What?"
You turned and looked at him, but you got so embarrassed you had to cover your face. "I think I'm in love with Dustin." You peeked through your fingers and were mortified to see Orange's toothy, crooked grin staring back at you.
He shot up off the couch like a rocket. "Hot dog!" He clapped his hands together and you couldn't help but start to giggle. You felt heat rising from your neck up into your cheeks. "This is incredible news! My two best buds are going to fall in love!"
"Orange, Orange, no," you put your beer down next to his and started to wave both hands at him in protest. "You can never tell him. You can never tell anyone!"
Orange threw his hands up as if in disgust. "What?" He asked indignantly. "What are you talking about?"
"No! I shouldn't have even told you! Shit, Orange, what time is it? How much have I had to drink?"
Your blonde friend slumped back down onto the couch next to you, frowning. "I rescind my hot dog."
"It is stricken from the record. Now it's time for you to go to bed and for me to pass out on your couch. Okay?" Orange just pouted at you. "Okay?"
"Fine!"

Just saw your Cosmo comic, I need to know everything about this AU that you can tell me, please
Thanks for your interest in my idea! The AU heavily weaves Sonic X's plot (my favorite cartoon), focusing on Kris Thorndyke (specifically his evil version) and Cosmo the Robot as the main characters.
The story is quite extensive to detail on paper, and I'd like to sketch out what's in my mind regarding these characters.
Cosmo the Robot (also known as Aks) is a DNA-created copy trying to understand herself through clandestine observation of the original Cosmo. Her journey mirrors Sage's from the "Sonic Frontiers" game but she involves recreating a life similar to hers to study her essence and find a purpose in life.
Honestly, I would like to write more, but there are too many screenwriting nuances to simply put them in the comments :((

I'm bored, so I want to make a list of some of the TWST boys and which one of the Disney Princesses/Heroines that they would be the most compatible with. Let's begin!
Vil=Belle: I don't see him being drawn to an aged up Snow White or Neige. He might find a partner like that too naïve and airy, which would grind his gears. However, I can see him going for someone like Belle.
Contrary to how it might seem at first, Vil isn't vain. He has a lot of issues with his appearances, don't get me wrong, but he values people's intelligence and hard work above all else. He's friends with Jack, who is fair from being the pretty boy archetype. One of his voice lines, Vil says that he admires the Evil Queen, even in her hag form due to her intelligence.
Belle fits that bill. She's very intelligent and clever, being able to put him in his place before he does something stupid. I can see him admiring that about her.
Jamil=Jasmine or Moana: Both of these ladies share his desire to break out of their current circumstances and travel the world, being able to understand him at a fundamental level. Jasmine's feisty and sassy nature would break down his walls while Moana's adventurous spirit would do the same. He would admire both of their wits, bravery and abilities to stand up for themselves. Jamil dating someone rich would also help to dismantle a lot of his biases about the Asims.
(Fun fact: I also dabble in astrology, and according to his birth chart, he's destined to have a rich partner. Do with that information as you will.)
Riddle=Luz or Alice (both aged up): @thosebrookfieldgirls mentioned this one, and I tend to agree. While Luz isn't a Disney Princess, she is a heroine from a Disney show. She's like a modern day Alice in a lot of ways with her curiosity and love of fantasy. I can see her falling for him for similar reasons that she fell for Amity. He can teach her to value rules and help bring her down to earth while she can make him break out of his shell, and help him loosen up and have fun again. Same thing goes for Alice.
Malleus=Aurora: Malleus would fall for a partner would is kind hearted and wouldn't judge him. I think she fits that bill. Honestly, this dynamic feels a lot like canon MalleYuu. xD
Leona=Eilonwy (aged up): Eilonwy, for those of you who don't know, is the princess from The Black Cauldron. She is very fiery and determined, so she wouldn't put up with his BS, being able to call him out when he needs it. I can see him doing the same in reverse. I can see them sharing a similar dynamic to Kris/Leona from Thorns and Ink in that regard.
Azul=Ariel or Reille: They both similar interests in the human world, wanting to prove others around them wrong, and hobbies like collecting things. They would have a good understanding for one another. If she knew him as a kid, she would stand up for him against his bullies, which make him no doubt form a crush on her. I can see him thinking her voice is beautiful. Similar thing goes for Reille if he's like the princess he's based on.
Idia=Meg: Meg's extroversion and sass would break Idia out of his shell. They would be the ultimate beauty influencer/gamer boy power couple. xD
Epel=Mulan: They are both determined and fiery spirits, who would do anything to protect those they care about. I can see them bonding and understanding each other due to that.

I'm curious, what's your opinion on Chara, and has it changed since you first got into Undertale? I know a lot of people have varying views on them, as well as lots who started off thinking they were evil and then changed their mind or vice versa. I personally see them as a troubled kid who had good intentions, and their purpose in the no-mercy route is to hold the player accountable for their actions.
What do you think? I like to hear other peoples views and theories on the same character, it's really interesting how many interpretations there can be of one person. Also sorry if you've spoken about this before or anything.
- magpie :)
Okay so after watching Undertale for the first time (I wasn't playing games at the time) I thought it was just a typical evil character with no story, just someone had to be the evil character in the game.
uh. And yes, I changed my thinking. I just think now that they're definitely a troubled kid, that's clear. But I still don't consider them completely innocent. There are a few moments in the game that suggest the Chara weren't the nicest person, Asriel himself says so. Even if they got along well, I still imagine Chara manipulated Asriel at times.
I picture it like Kris and Noelle's relationship. The two are good friends, but on Snowgrave, Kris (controlled by the Player) manipulates Noelle
Char and Asriel's relationship seems to be similar, except that Chara was not controlled by anyone.
Although, on the other hand, what if there was another player before us who was playing using Chara...?
Like Chara laughing when Asgore got sick. Though I personally see it as coping with pain because other characters laughed when they were in pain too. However, it is worrying that Chara laughs at the pain. How often have they suffered before...?
I understand why people think they're evil. No-mercy route portrays them as such, although I believe it was the player's influence and the player's determination to do evil that made the Chara the same.
As for the interesting things in my opinion, it's interesting that they see themselves as a demon and a servant of the Devil (Gaster?). Maybe they knew each other when they were alive? I hope so because it would make sense to me. Still, I don't know what to make of demonic connections, but it could be interesting in the future. I like to think that initially Toby wanted Frisk and Chara to look alike because they would represent each person's light and dark side.
Personally, I think that the gaps in their history will be filled and developed in Deltarune.
I hope they're chilling with Uncle Gaster in the void right now

again no real conclusions here, just presenting some questions i've been thinking over.
the birdcage implies that kris has a history of "possession" that predates Player involvement. if not a Player, then who? The Man (UI Gaster) is the most obvious candidate, of course.
this is an interesting idea for a number of reasons, and brings in further parallels between him and the Player — maybe he’s actually been a Player in a literal, in-universe sense. one of the main outstanding questions of that, for me, is: if The Man is able to "possess" them himself, why does he bring us in to do it instead?
i have two main possibilities in mind at this point — these might not be mutually exclusive, and there could be others i haven’t imagined.
he has tried to do it himself in the past, but he's failed enough times at getting a better ending on his own that he thinks maybe he's just incapable of it. he just can’t Get Good enough. he's passing the controller to a "big sibling" to see if they can beat the game for him. we beat Undertale, didn’t we? a lot of us even beat sans. maybe we’re capable of things he isn’t.
he feels bad about doing the possession himself. he still sees it as a necessary evil but he doesn't want to be the one to do it. some part of him recognizes there could be cruelty or selfishness to it, and he's passing off responsibility for that to us. in that case, this would add a layer of complexity to the themes of control, manipulation, and power dynamics at play -- the Player is, to a certain degree, being manipulated by an in-game actor, an actor who is quite literally also a Player and shares much of our perspective.
further questions to mull over:
what of the Vessel? he tells us we’ll get a vessel of our own making, that we can rightfully control without causing harm. if he's sincere in that intent, then it means he was genuinely hoping to minimize the problems of possession. but if we say that the red SOUL, the one we see in the SURVEY, is kris's... then that starts to feel more sinister. was the Vessel a false option, meant to obscure the fact that he knew we'd end up in Kris, and again obfuscate his culpability? was the Vessel a Varik meant to overwrite Kris's Ness? in the latter case, does he think (in a twisted way) that this was a merciful option? Kris technically can't feel hurt if they no longer exist, right?
why Kris, anyway? why not another character? is it because they’re human, and there's something special about their SOUL? is it because they’re the most vulnerable, the easiest to control? did they (as others have speculated) actually strike some sort of deal with The Man, allowing their SOUL to be "borrowed" -- did they do this because of some vulnerability?
the fact that The Man describes Kris as "WONDERFUL," as he does with the other two, certainly implies a certain amount of affection for them. given that he meets only with them (well, us) in the Tree Rooms, and neither of the other two (or Ralsei, potentially his creation), further implies that Kris in particular is special in some way to him. i've speculated before that he might see something of himself in them -- and possibly projects onto them, as a player does a silent protagonist in a typical game.
does he specifically want to help Kris in some way? what does he think it means to help them? are there ways he could be right, as well as wrong? what would any of that mean? idk lol

Mini Deltarune theories I have that are not quite big enough for a true post, but interesting to note. In order of most confident to least.
Ralsei is luring the lightners to the Dark World in order to trap them
In chapter 2, Ralsei creates rooms for Kris and Susie that "they can go to no matter what is happening outside". Unlike Queen's rooms, which are guesses based on search results, Kris and Susie's rooms are accurate to an unsettling degree. Not only is Kris' room identical to their light world counterpart, but it also has all of Asriel's trophies on their side of the room with Asriel's side gone, a reflection of their potential secret desire to no longer be under Asriel's shadow. Similarly, Susie's excitement on even having a room suggests that Ralsei could know what Susie's light world home life is like or lack thereof if she's homeless.
By creating these rooms, Ralsei is fulfilling the lightners secret desires and judging on his phrasing, wants them to go there in order to avoid whatever is happening "outside" the dark world. By doing so, he is effectively strengthening their desire to stay in the dark world so they can't escape.
Chapter 3 isn't going to be Undyne or Napstablook, it's Asgore
Chapter 3 taking place in Kris' home with the fountain being created by Kris suggests to me that the world may mostly involve whatever the Dreemur family drama entailed, which would include Asgore who was the former chief of police. Not only that, but the combination of Toriel having troubles calling the police and the station being closed in a preview for chapter 4 suggests to me that Mayor Holiday could have closed the station during the night of chapter 3 after they failed to catch the mysterious criminal wrecking Hometown, leaving Asgore as the only character left who might want to resume his policeman duties when Toriel's call is made. It is also more fitting for Toriel to kill Asgore in the hypothetical chance the Snowgrave route continues with her as she already dislikes Asgore and possibly blames him for Dess' disappearance. Speaking of...
Asgore really was involved
There's a lot of weird forshadowing on an "evil Santa". Lancer believes that "ho ho ho", a laugh associated with the mystical Christmas gift bearer, being an evil laugh. Noelle is also scared of Santa and it's revealed in Undertale that Asgore dressed up as Santa to give gifts to the monsters. All of this seems setup to me that Asgore really was somehow involved in letting Dess disappear, something that may be revealed during Chapter 3's Snowgrave route.
Dess is ruder than she appears
This is a more playing by expectations theory, however there's certain lines and implications that become interesting once looked under the lens of this theory.
It's revealed that Dess once beat Kris with a wiffle ball bat for scaring Noelle by telling her that ICE-E "eats kids". This puts a precedent that Dess has at least somewhat violent impulses in order to protect her sister, even in situations that don't need it. It's also a bit odd that unlike Asriel, no one in the hometown mentions Dess after her disappearance except for Noelle. Even Berdly, Noelle's best friend, doesn't bring her up. It could be that the hometowners may not want to hurt Noelle by reminding her of the disappearance, however since she's so open about talking about Dess to even new kid Susie it may be another reason why the hometown doesn't mention her. It's possible that the simularities to Dess and Susie (both are horror loving, somewhat violent, tomboys) are deliberate and are setting up the reveal that Dess is/was actually a bully and a future scene with Noelle may parallel the scene in Undertale where Asriel reminisces that Chara wasn't that good of a person.
Gaster blasters are named after Gaster, but not created by him
If you spare Papyrus in Undertale after an aborted Genocide run, he will say this.
Tumblr media
The most common theory is that the "Special Attack" would be a Gaster Blaster. What's interesting to me is the phrasing "my Special Attack", which suggests that Papyrus owns this attack and it could have been unique to him before Sans or the annoying dog stole it. If Gaster Blasters are really his unique attack, it could mean that Papyrus created the Blasters and named them after Gaster, rather than the fandom interpretation that Gaster made the Blasters then gave them away.
There might not be a singular "Knight" because anyone can dream
At the end of each chapter, the characters ask if the dark world adventure they had was some sort of dream. Since anyone can fall asleep and dream, it's possible the game is setting up that trying to seal the fountains is impossible because anyone can dream and thus become their own "knight".

This is my called shot, if Deltarune continues to follow Live A Live (spoilers of LAL below)
All things in brackets are things that happened to Oersted from LAL which may not be applicable to Deltarune's variant on it but it's worth noting the exact circumstances just in case I'm right
A single new party member will be added every chapter [and the previous members who aren't a part of the hero triad like Noelle may not recur as playables in the Dark Worlds ever again until the finale where they could potentially be used one last time to face off against the final boss].
The seven revealed chapters will turn into nine chapters. (Likely 6 and 7 will be released together as supposedly the final chapters, but it'll actually be revealed that 8 and 9 are unlocked when 7 is completed like in LAL.)
Kris will kill someone important (most likely Susie) after being tricked/forced into doing it and then framed afterwards.
The perpetrator of this would have to be Ralsei as he is the only one so far who matches up with Oersted's wizard ex-friend who frames him (and Ralsei is also literally called 'prince of the dark' which is incredibly similar to the title used by the big bads in LAL, 'Lord of Dark').
To back this 'traitorous Ralsei' line of thought up since it's very controversial in the Deltarune fandom, Ralsei is the one who taught Kris how to use their 'proceed' ability in Chapter 1's jail segment and he mentioned it at least once before that with very odd, specific wording to include it. He also is aware of the metanarrative as directly shown in Chapter 2's genocide route when he's upset that the narrative won't move on to where it should during both scenes with Noelle and Susie, yet he does nothing about the route itself. Unless his awareness of the metanarrative is extremely limited to the point he can't see any of Snowgrave happening somehow, that makes him incredibly suspicious on its own.
Also, while not proof exactly, Oersted's final boss forms in LAL directly inspired every one of Asriel's final boss designs in Undertale (even Omega Flowey)... this may explain why Kris (a knight, like Oersted) takes the role of Oersted and Ralsei as Oersted's ex-friend (also a wizard) since Asriel's story is not really similar to Oersted's and Asriel is still a good person when he loses Flowey's emotionlessness.
Somewhat related, one strange thing about Deltarune's Darkner prophecy as foretold by Ralsei is that the Angel is excluded from it despite its continued existence in the Light World's version of the sigil. This could be willful doctoring on Ralsei's part or just unknown to him, but in my opinion it's likely that there is still an Angel, who is someone other than the triad of heroes and decides the fate of the world similarly to the Angel of Undertale.
Kris kills Ralsei in a fight to the death after Ralsei tries to use his full power to destroy/take over the Light World.
[Kris's love interest (Noelle?) commits suicide after learning about the two murders Kris committed, without being aware of the context behind them. (I think this is the most likely bit to be removed/changed since I also think Noelle is the real Angel of the prophecy and is the most likely person to be the true protagonist after Kris turns regardless, especially if Susie and Ralsei are both dead by this point, but this mayyy be relevant somehow anyway since she's crushing on Susie.)]
Kris becomes evil[/a Lord of Dark specifically], presumably due to the contextless backlash of killing Ralsei and the victim they'd been framed for.
Kris will be killed by the combined forces of the rest of the party members [after Kris has become the latest incarnation of hatred like Ralsei before them], thus saving the world... but at a great cost, and with the knowledge that any person has the capacity to become filled with hate and evil as it is said in LAL.
This is just my best guess of what Toby is going for with Deltarune's finale using Live A Live's finale as an outline. Undertale's pacifist route was the antithesis to Live A Live and I think Deltarune may be the reoccurrence of Live A Live, possibly regardless of route as indicated by the game's central theme (and the fact that Toby has said there is only one ending). It probably won't be exactly like I've said but most likely similar in some instances (some characters may be switched around, the exact contents of the story events might be altered compared to the LAL counterparts, etc.).
