A c.1850s pair of gloves. The colorwork is an early example of Fair Isle, while the pointed finger tips suggest a possible influence from Eastern European or Scandinavian techniques.

chat I’ve got issues
I finished a project so that means I get to cast on another and did this! it’s a vintage… something pattern (theoretically a bag of sorts, but the directions say to make it to the size of “the carton”?? but that has yet to be explained by either the pattern itself and/or uncle google)
and, also obviously, the first time I’ve ventured into color territory (as seen by the floaty guts (it took me a few rows to figure out how to anchor properly)) and I’m kinda,, goblin? holding?? my yarn?? which is okay but I’m not a fan of so I have one of those yarn rings on its way in the mail to hopefully let me knit the way I’d like
any tips/comments/resources be v helpful 🤗 I’ve been mostly using Nimble Needles on YouTube for help

The Cormoron Fairisle knit is inspired by hardy traditional Scandinavian fishermen's knits and their epic ocean adventures.
Naturally warm, breathable, moisture wicking and temperature regulating, these jumpers were once viewed as a fishermen's second skin. One of our chunkiest knits, made from 100% pure new wool, discover a heritage-inspired classic, faithfully recreated.

The Owl Around and Find Out Mittens
Finished my Owl Around Mittens I've been working on since christmas. I gave em a little twist with the Latvian Braid and the bicolored ribbed cuff. I also carried the black yarn on the inside of the tip, because I found it kind of thin compared to the rest of the mitten, since it's stranded color work and therefor quite thick and warm. For the black lining of the folded cuff I used needles a size thicker than for the rest.
Worst thing: I don't like the pointy tips. In hindsight I would've liked a rounded tip better, but didn't want to unravel it to make it that way.
Best thing: they match my favourite scarf. Also, ears!
Colored yarn is Schachenmayr Tahiti in Bermuda 07617 (cotton), black yarn is ElbSox Merino. Yarn for the eyes is Novita Venla in Mustard, which I already used for their lovely Fox-Socks pattern. Pattern is Owl Around by Natalia Moreva.

Gifted! Not me, belatedly remembering that “books” are, in fact, in my username, and that it’s been a Very Long While since I’ve posted book pictures. So: Here’s what I got for Christmas, on the books-and-yarn front! What a delightful little haul!!

Johnstons of Elgin | This beautiful Fairisle Yoke Jumper gives a nod to Highland crafts with a hand-finished feel. We knitted the yoke pattern on the reverse to show the float stitches and add texture. A relaxed piece with raglan sleeves.
