Just a bit of rambling here, but I honestly don’t know how to tackle the Honest Hearts DLC story wise for Six’s journey that I’m planning out. The DLC is terrible, the handling of indigenous imagery and characters is atrocious. I’ve seen some awesome indigenous fallout fans on here make some wonderful revisions to some of the characters and lore, but even then I can’t see myself even attempting to make that DLC a part of my courier’s story.
Obsidian really fumbled on this DLC, the caricature of indigenous people in the npcs (broken English and the mockery of a wardrobe and names the devs gave them); the Christian/white-savior complex from Joshua and Daniel has left a permanent sour taste in my mouth. The only positive aspect of the DLC is the environment. Zion National park is one of my favorite places, but seeing it as the setting for that dumpster fire of a DLC sucks.
I don’t care if the game is almost 15 years old, they could have handled indigenous identities so much better if they had just cared a little bit. The character Joshua Graham himself had a lot of potential, so my hype from the lore of the base game. And he turns out to be just another white-savior who hasn’t learned a thing, and never does develop in the story.

arcade gannon truly is so real for aiming every joke he makes to an audience of exclusively himself. like nobody around him gets his references to history/art/literature but he doesn't care because he sees the perfect opportunity to make a reference and he never fails to do so. hes so real for that

average fallout new vegas youtube video: here is my analysis of why the independent vegas path is the only path that makes sense to bring political balance to the mojave and also here’s why raul is the best companion and also here’s an analysis of the enclave quest and the character development of arcade gannon and also here is why dead money is the most under appreciated dlc and also here is why
average fallout 3 or 4 youtube video: lol i put a bunch of mines in this npc’s home let’s see them blow up

Took one glance at the Amazon trailer and got exactly what I was worried about. This ghoul is barely seasoned! Even the fallout 4 ghouls had more visible wear and tear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two are from New Vegas and Fallout 3 respectively. And they are a showcase of what ghoulification in the lore is, extreme radiation poisoning. They look diseased and damaged on purpose.

i LOVE how they had lucy react to feral ghouls three separate times: the first when coop shot/mercy killed roger and she was dismayed, the second when she released a bunch and was forced to put them down when they attacked her and everyone else, and the third when she herself shot/mercy killed her mother.
it's just such a succinct way to showcase how her actions are changing in accordance with what she's learning about the world she finds herself in and how survive inside it, but that these new actions are still ultimately revolving around her own goodness. will be interesting to see how much of that transfers onto coop vs how much of his jadedness ends up affecting her own ethics.

I mean this with every fiber of my being but whoever was in charge of designing the “ghouls” for the Fallout tv show should be jailed and given a life sentence with no chance of parole
Tumblr media
Look at how they massacred my beautiful ghouls! Deadpool looks more ghoulish than him! There isn’t a wrinkle on this mfs body! This is just a man who lost his nose!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The writers are cowards for not giving us gross looking ghouls!
Edit: y’all can stop saying it’s not the writers fault, I got it

yes, we all going crazy over "there you are, you little killer" line but if you take the moment to think about it - it makes sense why Ghoul said that in the first place. he thought Lucy killed Wilzig bc she was after the bounty like he was. he saw her talking to "target" back in Filly like they knew each other and next thing you know - Wilzig is dead. decapitated. no signs of struggle or fight or involvement of other fractions so that leaves one suspect - damn vault-dweller and her sting gun (really?a sting gun? not even the real one with actual bullets? are you kidding me?) so of course when Ghoul catches up with her - he doesn't believe shit. vaultie is a good actress, all that golden rule talk could've worked on him but alas he doesn't have a soul. so let's see when her mask falls off. that's why he let's himself to indulge a little: taunt her here and there, push her over the limit and see what she'll do. and it worked. she bit his finger off. little killer.

Another question for Courier 6:
Do you have a crush on anyone, and is there anyone you despise (other than any Legionnaires)?

She's going through a lot at the moment. Right now she just finds it easier to hate.

Ella Purnell's characters having to staple their own wounds while yelping in pain... oddly specific, yet it's happened twice in two different and fantastic video game adaptations.

Y'all practical effects bitches are really sleeping on the Mission: Impossible movies.
"Oh everything is CGI these days!" Mission: Impossible uses practical effects whenever it's safe to do so, and their definition of safe is incredibly skewed because Tom Cruise is, frankly, batshit insane.
The man refuses to use stunt doubles because he insists the audience can tell when it's not him. He's apparently one of the best stunt drivers in the world. He drove up a cliff and skidded to a stop right on the edge for real in Dead Reckoning. He got a fucking helicopter license and spent like three years training for the climactic scene in Fallout.
Most of the helicopter chase in Fallout was real. The midair oxygen-tank swap in that movie was also real. They practiced for it in a wind tunnel and then did the real thing in freefall.
When Tom Cruise dies, it's either going to be because he realized Scientology was a crock and tried to get out and they fucking killed him (highly unlikely that he'll ever come to that realization), or because his luck finally ran out while filming a stunt for a Mission: Impossible movie (significantly more likely).
Seriously, if you have the blu-rays of any of these movies, I strongly encourage you to watch them with the director's commentaries. Especially the ones directed by Christopher McQuarrie. That man has an almost pathological distaste for CGI (and when they do have to use it, he's incredibly respectful and complimentary of the people who do the special effects).
Do yourself a favor and watch these movies. They're not just kitschy action flicks. They're kitschy action flicks with a metric fuckton of practical effects, and a production team that really cares about the stories they're crafting.

can't believe a show based on a videogame (usually games adaptations are notoriously bad, which isn't the case here tho) gave me the beauty and the beast/twisted mirrors/enemies to traveling companions/ruthless antihero+optmistic but still badass heroine who takes none of his shit/age gap but make it sexy dynamic of my dreams. as much as i love maximus and i think he deserves the best writing ever because 1. he's a clever deconstruction of the aspiring Knight bro who's actually a bit of a loser and, as much as lucy, sees the world in black&white at first and then doesn't get what he thought he wanted but what he needs (or at least i hope he'll eventually get it), and 2. he's a cutie and i want an epic love story for him too, it's very funny how they tried to give us a puppy kind of romance and the tumblr girlies still fixated on the "toxic ~she bites his finger off and he cuts hers off and sews it on his hand in what we'll pretend it's a symbolic marriage rings exchange or whatever~ asshole who used to be a nice guy/good girl™ with a lot of spunk and hidden anger but unshakeable morals" kind of relationship.

Undoubtedly the funniest Benny interactions sequence of events to me is the Black Widow route after you've already done a bunch of things in the Mojave and on the Strip + letting him escape the captivity at the hands of the Legion.
Benny, who practically has it all after shooting Courier 6 and taking the platinum chip, is now chilling at the Tops, waiting to enact his plan. And not only does this courier show up again, after doing a bunch of shit all across the map, they seduce him successfully, and somehow not kill him. And like a little rat abandoning the ship, he yet runs away, gets captured by the Legion, still has the audacity to talk back to and then, - once he realises the weight of the situation, - appeal to Courier 6; he then gets let go, potentially with the courier just slaughtering the whole camp, and is NEVER SEEN AGAIN.
He truly was there, talked funny, caused trouble, served (?), and then disappeared off the face of the earth. Like, despite his constant backstabbing and bad choices, he manages to weasel his way out of deadly encounters, and it's incredibly funny to me. 10/10, character of all time, love him, hate him.
