when wei chen retires, fang shijing is so focused on picking up the pieces of blue rain that he nearly forgets his upcoming summer birthday. there's hardly any time to make plans, the team takes up all his spare energy. there's still so much to do, so many things to figure out. their best player is gone, and fang shijing knows he's good but he's not good enough to pick up the slack. and the only two kids who have any hope of taking up the mantle aren't ready yet.

(fang shijing isn't convinced he made the right decision by backing yu wenzhou's request for more time, but the kid is earmarked for captain. best to let him start making his own decisions now. and if it means having a long, drag-out fight with management to get them on board with the plan, well...no one said being captain was easy)

fang shijing figures he'll spend his birthday alone, sketching out plans for next season. it isn't the worst way to spend a birthday and at least he won't have to suffer through the attempt at baking that wei chen used to call cake.

the day of his birthday rolls around, but instead of quiet, fang shijing finds his house bombarded by all his friends on other teams who have traveled to keep him company. they all spend the night telling stories of the old days and taking turns roasting each other. wu xuefeng fishes out an photo of wei chen. it must have been from back before the gpa formed, when wei chen was a much heavier drinker. in the photo wei chen is visibly drunk, his pants around his ankles so can he's moon the camera. he's looking over his shoulder and flashing a defiant middle finger.

they all take turns throwing spitballs at the blurry picture. lu liang hits one right in the center of wei chen's pasty ass and declares it a bullseye. fang shijing laughs so hard he spits beer out his nose.

when wei chen comes back, he silently vows to give him the defaced photograph as a welcome back present.

The back patting and ‘atta girl’s’ or ‘ey one more year down!’. Not to say she doesn’t adore her employees or their company in general. It’s just that the somewhat forced participation over her part that wasn’t her vibe. 

     So when the environment gets too suffocating for her, Cindy goes out to, rather ironically, have a smoke. It takes a moment before someone eventually finds her. She doesn’t turn around but puts out the cigarette as her head tilts to the sound of footsteps then a small smile pulls along her lips when a hand rests upon her lower back and . 

     "Today is your day, enjoy it."

     Cindy leans into @yunhuntress​, moving to nestle her forehead into Fang's neck and softly sighs.

          " I am darlin', I am." Cindy smiles, bringing the hand unmarked with the tinge of smoke to interlock her fingers with Fang's then lifts to place a kiss on the the back of her hand.  " Got my favorite girl by my side, couldn't ask for a better gift. "
