There was this really good fic I read, and it was young Marinette fighting off an alien invasion almost singlehandedly, and I think it got deleted :( it was Starro from DC comics and I was looking for it for like, two hours but I can’t find it anywhere rip. It had the quantic kids too. I remembered it out of nowhere, and I wanted to re-read it, but yeah, I couldn't find it lol

Most Wonderful Time of the Year.....
Holidays.... they don't celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas in Vietnam or China. My friends family when migrating to America started to celebrate these holidays. In an attempt to start over, fit in, and Americanize. She told me a funny story about her mom trying new foods during the holidays. Picture a beautiful Thanksgiving table set with a turkey, duck, mashed potatoes, spring rolls and of course gravy. Not so fast.... the "gravy" was actually peanut sauce for dipping the spring rolls. This was a rude awakening when she put it on her potatoes thinking it was gravy! She said her mom tries to bring in new foods to their holiday meals, but things such as the red envelopes stay true as well as the gifts to the parents from their children. They don't have many traditions from "home" that they did bring with them. Melody's mom said it was an effort for them grow up American with just as many advantages as they can have.
I found this comparable to the "traditions" that were talked about in the reading of "The Brothers" and "Felix Starro" and the family traditions the children didn't want to carry on. When I told Melody about the readings she seemed to agree. They do still have strong beliefs of their culture, the respect of the elderly is one we went back to many times during our conversations.
In their culture the respect for the elders is very strong and rings true for years leading up to taking care of them when they no longer can care for themselves. As for the holidays though, at an age when the children can work for themselves they begin to "repay" their parents for all they have given them. To thank her mom she has given her jewelry and then started with $100 about eight years ago and this year it will be $800 total. She was taught this is a sign of respect, a way to say thank you for everything she has been given.
Wouldn't it be amazing if American's had as much respect for their elderly.
