I snipped the tip of a new emerging leaf on my rubber plant to encourage branching and it just...kept growing from the same place lol
I think it does seem like it may be branching? Or it's putting out multiple leaves. We'll see!

I’ve created a monster plant!!! 😅 my 𝘍𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢 “Tineke” is now ~220 cm 💚🪴 when i bought it it’s just ~50 cm (for reference my height is 163 cm)😮 the summer heat is definitely making it grow faster [1]😅😍 so now, i decided to put it away from direct sunlight 😜 literature says it can reach height of up to 305 cm if used as a houseplant [2], i don’t have enough vertical space 😅 [1] L.M. ficus elastica tineke - ive wanted a varigated rubber plant for a couple years, this year finally have seen them around in local shops! i was hoping for a non pink one but it was looking like theyd be more expensive and can hopefully find one eventually - this one was just too good of a deal. and its cute next to my wandering dude! need a little pink and purple among my green and yellow houseplants

They had a small monstera for sale at Jewel and I was very close to buying it, then I remembered the kind of care they need and said nope.
Got this Ficus Tineke instead. Super cute, way more manageable lol

Ficus elastica Tineke
One of my favorite houseplants in my collection, from a big box store at that. I have truly fallen in love with the Ficus elastica, owning several cultivars of the rubber plant, but the Tineke is one of my favorites.
Stunning variegation, extremely easy to care for. This one sits in my plant room under various grow lights because they love sun. She’s in a chunky soil mix with worm castings and enjoy a drink of fertilizer at just about every watering, even in the winter. She’s currently getting watered every 2 weeks or so, waiting until she’s almost completely dry. Rubber plant leaves tend to curl under when they’re super thirsty and they don’t ever uncurl so making sure she’s not overwatered or under watered can be tricky!
