The Family Album // CeC 1980’s

The Family Album was a temporary test Cabernet band installed in select CeC locations in the New England region of the United States (Michigan, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts). These were installed during CeC’s bankruptcy in the mid 1980’s due to a shortage of balcony stage animatronics (being done by Elnicky Enterprises) and remand unused after the merger in 1985

The band is consist of three human like animatronics, names vary between locations but commonly known as, John (lead singer), Dee Dee (pianist), and Randy (bass player). These animatronics can be unsettling to some due their big doed eyes and lanky appearance. The band are displayed on a revolving stage that spins during the show (like the center stage for the NRAE). They also seemed to be an interactive show, someone placed backstage puppeteering the animatronics. SPP also tried something similar to this with Billy Bob in the late 80’s

I’m so excited for The Show to finally be released, but why am I mourning Heartbreak Weather and the NTMY Tour?

#hbw is the FIRST no skips album I’ve ever listened to #fitf is now my fave 1d solo album I’ll admit #but hbw had that honor for the longest time #from the day it released until the day fitf came out #I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by niall’s solo music #yes he had released flicker before but that album didn’t wow me the way hbw did #even now when I listen to it it still feels like the first time #I have never grown such a strong attachment to an album before #like why am I mourning that era being over???? I'm here to defend my girl, the middle child: Heartbreak Weather.

The issues are: 1) Flicker is an album so faithful to Niall's musical references and life, so honest to who he is as an artist and as a person, that it could never be in last place in a ranking of his best projects; 2) The Show is such an obvious evolution of Niall as a songwritter, as an instrumentalist and also as a lyricist that there is no space for this album other than the first place in the ranking - and god! what a step up it is in terms of the consolidation of Niall's individual sound. So yes, Heartbreak Weather takes last place. But we have to give the laurels to those who deserve them! And who deserves them is Her™️, Niall's forgotten daughter. Flicker is an album very much within Niall's comfort zone and the huge jump to The Show would NEVER have been possible without Heartbreak Weather, without Niall's experimentation on this album, especially in the upbeat songs, on their production, on the vocals he could test while recording them. Of course this made Heartbreak Weather a less sonically cohesive album than the other two, but She™️ is the root that allowed The Show to be born as beautiful as it did. And i will always love her!
