What do I want to write you a song, you could start a cult, fine line, defenceless, don’t let it break your heart, from the dining table, if I could fly, still, this town, and fools gold all have in common? The vocals literally send me to another plane of existence

I'm here to defend my girl, the middle child: Heartbreak Weather.
The issues are: 1) Flicker is an album so faithful to Niall's musical references and life, so honest to who he is as an artist and as a person, that it could never be in last place in a ranking of his best projects; 2) The Show is such an obvious evolution of Niall as a songwritter, as an instrumentalist and also as a lyricist that there is no space for this album other than the first place in the ranking - and god! what a step up it is in terms of the consolidation of Niall's individual sound. So yes, Heartbreak Weather takes last place. But we have to give the laurels to those who deserve them! And who deserves them is Her™️, Niall's forgotten daughter. Flicker is an album very much within Niall's comfort zone and the huge jump to The Show would NEVER have been possible without Heartbreak Weather, without Niall's experimentation on this album, especially in the upbeat songs, on their production, on the vocals he could test while recording them. Of course this made Heartbreak Weather a less sonically cohesive album than the other two, but She™️ is the root that allowed The Show to be born as beautiful as it did. And i will always love her!
