The last pages from Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer (me)
This graphic novel was incredibly personal and very rewarding to work on (and won an Eisner this year!). Maybe one day I'll write a big post about everything, but it was striking how many experiences I shared with Patricia in her 30's, as a lesbian living 70 years later.
This last spread was actually something Grace and I came up with while thumbnailing– there were a few different versions of the page, but I think this one best captures Highsmith's complicated (and often dark) relationship with other women. Very proud of this book.

🌉 A journey into the past, which we will never forget... 🌌 💫
Imagine that the woman you fell in love with, asks you to accompany on a trip 🚘 ,wherever her car takes them... 👭 💕
Carol's car is a 1949 Packard 🚗 ,definitely one of the most important elements of the story written by Patricia Highsmith 📖
In this car, Carol & Therese live important moments of their relationship, we see them laughing, crying, even comforting one each other... Personally, the tunnel scene is one of my favorites in both the book and the film, because it's the moment where Therese's love for Carol is consumed in the purest emotional sense. 💘

If Patricia Highsmith were alive today, and say, she were to write another lesbian romance novel, do you think she would write under “Claire Morgan” ? Or do you think she’d be comfortable with todays generations to release her name under the books title?
Hell, if Patricia Highsmith were writing today, she would have to come up with yet another pseudonym because her ass would be dragged Rowling-style for:
Antisemitism
Racism
Misogyny
and definitely much more!
While we're at it, to learn more about the younger, late 1940s-early 1950s Highsmith, I highly recommend this new graphic novel about her that came out a couple weeks ago:
Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer.

Because of reasons
i just browsed through the graphic novel "flung out of space" and found it super addictive. It is the story of Patricia Highsmith up to the moment "the price of salt" hits the planet in general. Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer are the creators and it is published by Abrams ComicArts. Note: I do not know anything about anything and according to conventional wisdom this story should be way out of my interests. It is not. Having just browsed through it I am NOT in any way capable of making comments about it, but damn. It impressed me greatly. The general mood, the struggles of a writer (possibly) created to Write This Special Thing being used in unrelated bullshit to make ends meet, the asshole co-workers. It's not exactly fun but probably a good view of what things are like when you are a writer (and not one who easily passes for a conventional housewife). There are - for example - a few pub pickups that do not go as planned. Makes my teeth grind. Overall this looks GREAT, and I will keep a sharp eye out for a translated version.

Book Review: Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith by Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer
Summary:Flung Out of Space is both a love letter to the essential lesbian novel, The Price of Salt, and an examination of its notorious author, Patricia Highsmith. Veteran comics creators Grace Ellis and Hannah Templer have teamed up to tell this story through Highsmith’s eyes—reimagining the events that inspired her to write the story that would become a foundational piece of queer…

Y’all ever try to think of a romantic pairing idea and it’s just like “oh. oh no. one is going to kill the other”, for me rn it’s:
Human worker who has been running a small department solo because everyone else quit awhile ago due to the very picky Vulcan inspector who keeps sending projects back with very specific specifications, and has been doing it happily because they like working alone, suddenly has to deal with the Vulcan inspector who is now communicating with them in person instead of email
And very picky Vulcan inspector who is surprised (*cough* happy *cough*) to have someone who consistently reaches their high standards, feels comfortable barging in to their workplace at all hours to talk shop

✨ 🌁 The places where magic was created... 💫 🎥 Carol Locations 🎬
Edward R. Stearns House 🏠 ,locateted on Wyoming, Ohio at Oliver Rd; Cincinnati 45215. This place was the Harge's Mansion ,where Carol eats with Harge's family 😒 in order to see Rindy 👧
Fortunately the love between a mother and a daughter is like the seas that are infinitely eternal, no matter the high tides or storms that stand in their ways, they hold together. 👭 💚 ✨
