Monty didn’t attack Bonnie. Freddy did.
This post is not a joke: Ruin gives us enough clues to know that Bonnie was attacked by Freddy the day he disappeared, and Monty saw the attack.
Word count: 2457 words.
Yup, I wrote an entire essay with pictures to take the blame from a fictional gator that became my comfort character. If someone from Steel Wool is reading this: Yes, I’m ok, thanks for asking. If you want to send a cute Monty picture to my inbox, it is open and I’ll be all over the place if you do it.
Now, let me take you with me on this wild ride, because this theory fits the narrative of both Security Breach and Ruin so well that I have to clap at Steel Wool if it is actually correct and not me playing with the puzzle pieces incorrectly. So, here we go!
Bonnie, judging by the golden eyes and his travel pattern, was protecting someone like Freddy did with Gregory. Important damage was directed to the stomach hatch, where a kid could hide.
He has claw marks there, but Monty didn’t got his until the first was decommissioned and was then modified to play his bass.
Tumblr media
The scratches in his hatch are green, but also the cracks over it. It looks like it is his base color instead of paint left by the attacker. The next video is from FazFriends, where they look at every single detail in the Ruin animatronic models. Their analysis are totally worth your attention if you like SB!
youtube
Monty has black nails, even before he was modified to play Bonnie’s bass. They also are kinda blunt, and the marks the attacker left seem more clean and sharp in the ends.
Tumblr media
Now, there aren’t lots of animatronics that have claws. We have Roxy (and I’m guessing Foxy, if he ever existed as an animatronic different to her), The mimic/Burntrap, who doesn’t really seem an option because he’s slow and in life support in SB and sealed in Ruin, and… there’s Freddy. But, and here’s the twist, not normal Freddy, who couldn’t get through gates like Monty until he got his claws.
I’m talking about this thing.
Tumblr media
Not only do we have environmental clues that confirm this attack, but also a key clue that wouldn’t make any sense otherwise.
Let’s start with the Prototype itself!
Check those claws. They are sturdy enough to survive all the damage this model has received, and extremely sharp at the end. Now compare Bonnie and its hand together…
Tumblr media
It’s a perfect fit. The metal is a bit bent in the left, but if you could lower it, the finger length, the palm, even the distance and shape between the thumb and index are the same than the hole in Bonnie’s chest.
If that detail is true, all pieces of the narrative fit together. Here’s what happened, which I will explain further adding sources:
Monty saw Freddy’s prototype attacking Bonnie (who was in safe mode) in Gator Golf’s catwalks. The hurricane hole-in-one was activated, causing them both to fall. He could see the prototype losing its head and taking damage to its leg, but Bonnie was nowhere: he was either able to go back to Bonnie Bowl by himself using the distraction or the fall knocked him out and was dragged there, where he was heavily damaged.
This next part is not so clear, so I’ll give you my version of what I think happened that night: Bonnie alerted police that a kid was in danger. They show up, but Vanessa sent them away, claiming she was the only person there and it was a prank call (False Alarm message in SB). Vanny uses Bonnie’s trust on Freddy against him: she sends the prototype to go after the kid and him. He makes it to Monty’s, where the hurricane causes damage to the prototype, and is then finally attacked and disassembled behind his attraction to silence him and bury any clue or what happened (his parts are all over the place, one of his arms has weel marks, and Ruin follows the PQ ending where Freddy is disassembled. In SB, endos come out from the lines to attack us, and in Ruin we see the zone where his vanity is infested with STAFF robots, both in its normal version and in VR, where a giant STAFF robot is seen being dragged to a door while it leaves scratch marks on the floor).
Fazbear Entertainment pretended they actually looked for Bonnie and found nothing at all. As a final punishment for his disobedience he was actively being erased from existence: most of his art was removed, and some ask for a re-theme of his attraction (Re-theme SB message). They make Monty the main bassist, giving him his green room too.
These changes are being quickly pushed after his decommission: Bonnie still has power when we find him, Monty falls from the catwalks “a month ago” and snaps in half, a place where he goes every time he skips a performance (Monty Mischief SB message), people constantly ask for Bonnie and there isn’t an approved answer to give, the bowling alley still wasn’t given a re-theme after taking out most of Bonnie’s images.
Despite FazEnt efforts, Bonnie is remembered, specially by a depressed Monty.
His body was modified, he was given his bass, his glasses, his room, his role. The higher ups clapped thinking about the possibility of him being even more popular than Bonnie, his disappearance becoming yet another opportunity to make money.
And it was Freddy’s prototype’s fault. His normal life, the person he admired the most, his own body, were taken from him because of him.
From that day, and after getting new claws, his attitude becomes obsessive, endlessly searching for what was left of Bonnie after the rest gave up: destroying fences to explore the undergrounds, constantly missing shows and always being found in the catwalks, even after being snapped in half by the hole-in-one bucket, trying to guess where his body was. His last known location was his attraction, so he should still be there somewhere, isn’t it?
Let me repeat this: he prefers looking for Bonnie in the catwalks even at risk of his own integrity than performing.
There are more details that show us he does care for him: there are four official images left of Glamrock Bonnie in the PizzaPlex, three of them in Monty’s ride, the last one at the entrance of his own attraction, where some animations can still be seen. These cutouts are in perfect shape, while Freddy’s is light off.
There is also a headless Freddy statue that once you go to FazerBlast screams “prototype”.
Tumblr media
It looks like it’s been decapitated by a hurricane, some “cables” coming out of its head like the prototype, which has cables coming out of its neck.
This damage couldn’t have been caused by the earthquake: the head should had fallen to the ground instead of being pinned on the hurricane. Plus, it doesn’t match the theme of the ride, based on cutouts, and while the rest of the elements are placed in scenarios and their composition is clearly studied, this statue breaks the symmetry of the hurricane’s eye element, that is supposed to give you the illusion that you are entering its eye and being pushed out to the main attraction.
What’s more, in a story exclusively about Monty’s past and how he became a solo bassist in the PizzaPlex thanks to Bonnie, attracting the same amount of people than the Glamrocks themselves, a Freddy statue at the end doesn’t make any sense sense at all… Unless it was put there with a very particular purpose.
I like to think it’s part of an environmental story telling from Steel Wool, specially when you read the rest of clues together.
There’s more to say about this statue than the lack of a head: look at its leg damage, and how it matches the prototype’s heavily damaged one, and how the hand that is visible reflects the light making it look like it has long claws despite Freddy having short ones like the rest of the band.
It also has two blue long lines through his chest that resemble the ones in Bonnie’s.
If you still have doubt about how it is part of a scene representing the night of the attack, then you should know there is an easter egg here: if you follow the part of the tornado that goes up, you can see a Bonnie cutout at the very top of it. He’s far away from the rest of the scene and he looks like if he was being knocked by the tornado. If you zoom to look at his face, you can see he has a worried expression.
Tumblr media
Monty didn’t destroy any of the images of Bonnie or his previous iterations, not the cutouts, not this poster, not the bass that belonged to him, even after causing damage to his room.
There is a detail in Gator Golf that is easy to miss: An intact poster of the original Bonnie near a log he uses as a hideout in Ruin (we see him quickly going out of it when we approach it).
Tumblr media
He looks similar to the illustration at the entrance of Bonnie Bowl, but this image is not very charming. He looks half dead, yeah...? If you then go to Bonnie’s, some big screens are still on and advertising pizza. When you wear the mask, they change to a glitched version of the Bonnie animation, where his eyes go blank in a similar way to this poster.
This spot couldn’t have been used by Vanny: it is decorated exactly like the rest of Gator Golf in the base game, which ends with us saving Vanessa and exiting the PizzaPlex together.
The poster also has a drawing of Freddy stuck on it. In this chapter you can also find the Bonnie’s piñata collectible, the first time we can see his Glamrock design and the first clue of him having suffered an attack (it has a big gash in his chest).
He could have easily taken it down if he wanted, specially when it is so close to his hideout and he’s in such a volatile state, but he keeps it right beside it.
But the real Freddy (or, at least, things that resemble him) seems to cause some kind of reaction even in the base game, yes?
The most common example in Security Breach is the arcade version of Monty’s Gator Golf. There are two possible readings for it, depending on if you think it represents Monty’s mind or if you think it has been hacked to change his behavior.
Hole 1 depicts Freddy separated from the group, a big distance between them. Hole 9 shows him in a dumpster, and Chica, Roxy and Monty playing together. He’s never part of the group, so either Monty hates him or he was hacked so he would hate him, right?
Tumblr media
But the main show were he looks happily at him while playing, the fact that he never attacks him even after being hacked, the presence of images of him on other holes all perfectly light and ok like this balloon, and the eye color difference between Hole 1 and 9, make me think Steel Wool is trying to tell us a way different story.
The Freddy in the dumpster is the only one with golden eyes. Hole 9 represents what is happening the night we play as Gregory, the AR part of the AR-cade, and of the main reasons the Monty taking down theory was so popular.
That night, Roxy, Chica and him are working on finding the kid to the point that their cases crack and get dirty, while Freddy not only glitched at the start of the show hours before, but is now also walking around the PizzaPlex doing NOTHING instead of helping (apparently).
It’s the animatronic equivalent of a group project were one of the members does nothing, so you have to do their part and then they show up and are praised. It makes sense he would be angry at the situation and think he’s trash, but even so, there are no real confrontations between them.
But what about Hole 1, then? The answer is the fireflies. There are some fireflies at the left part, but the right, where Freddy is looking, has other set of lights. If you calculate the distance from Chica to him, the center is almost where the hole is, the part of the arcade that is supposed to drag your attention. Having an empty space there feels uncomfortable and a very questionable decision from whomever designed the scene, but if this one is a reflection from reality or Monty’s current mind state, why aren’t Freddy’s eyes gold?
Well, I don’t think he is separated from his band.
I think someone is missing from the picture instead.
Bonnie was erased from the Arcade.
As it was said, these changes were quick and non-planned: they deleted his model from the arcade, but had no time to move and reprogram the positions of the rest of the characters so the space between them was filled. As a consequence, when you play this level, your attention is taken from the hole to the distance between them.
It is void, awkward, it makes you uncomfortable. You know something is missing, but you can’t quite tell what it is yet. It makes you wish there was one more character there even before you knew there actually was.
Once you learn what happened, how his story ties to the place this scenario represents, the void he left in Freddy and Monty specifically, Hole 1 gains a new meaning, and it hits you. When you go back to the PizzaPlex as Cassie and play the arcade, there’s no joy left there. No fireflies, no Glamrocks, just ruins. Two pairs of red eyes and a pile of Nightmare STAFF bots. That’s all that’s left.
But if you still need one more clue to convince you that the prototype was the one that attacked Bonnie, then let me tell you there is a final one that wouldn’t make sense otherwise:
The AR collectibles dialogue.
Cassie always makes a commentary about the things she finds: Monty’s AR plushie being very glitchy, how she wants to add Roxy’s one to her collection, how the her father wouldn’t tell her why they replaced Bonnie and how he was his dad’s favorite…
But she also asks him what happened to him, and gets an answer when she gets the last collectible.
Tumblr media
The AR Golden Bonnie is hidden in Bonnie Bowl, next to a Wet Floor Sign bot.
She hasn’t been to Fazer Blast yet.
But the description answers the question that she asked him: a prototype.
Bonnie was decommissioned by Freddy’s prototype.
And the only ones that know are a kid lead to her death that can hear his agony through the Wet Floor Bots and unreal collectibles, and an animatronic blamed for his death and told he’ll never be him, obsessed with his loss and with finding whatever is left of the person that he admired the most and helped him become the star he once was.

Mike Schmidt: Headcanons & Rant
Tumblr media
•Was not tall enough to ride the big rides at the amusement park for most of his childhood. His mom used to tell him he wasn’t getting any taller because he didn’t eat all his food at dinner
•(Going off of one of Abby’s drawings on the wall) One time, Mike was hurrying to make breakfast and in his rush, accidentally dropped some eggs. And he had a mini-meltdown or something b/c for whatever reason, him dropping the eggs was funny enough for Abby to laugh at him and draw a picture about it
•(Going off another picture) When Abby gets sick, Mike will bring her soup in bed and it’s one of the things Abby appreciates the most. He is very nurturing with his sister, and his soft side comes out the most at times like these
•Mike doesn’t actually have anger issues. Everyone thinks he does b/c of what happened at the mall, but he’s actually very patient. (The mall was b/c of trauma, not anger) but even when Aunt Jane is screaming and slandering his name and threatening to take away Abby forever, he doesn’t let it bring him down to her level (and that is so admirable my gosh) The manager at Tire Zone was just a demanding jerk but no one listens to Mike b/c of his history
•Mike is very picky about who he dates. People would think he doesn’t get a lot of girls b/c of what happened but girls get crushes on him all the time. I mean, look at the girl at Dairy Freeze in the mall.
He is just very particular about the kind of girls he brings home. Since he’s raising his little sister, he wants to make sure he gives his heart to someone who would be a good role model for Abby, and wouldn’t mistreat her. At this time of his life, he’s not looking for a girlfriend anyway. Until my fanfics say so💀
•Mike has played Barbies before, and still will if Abby asks him to. And there are no witnesses. He has a “girl voice” he has to use or else Abby will scold him. (you know the meme)
•Mike has to drink a lot of caffeine. Coffee, soda, energy drinks. Using those pills of his often leave lasting effects throughout the rest of the day and the night shifts at Freddy’s only make things worse, so yeah. Mike needs caffeine and don’t we all? 😭
•(After Freddy’s)Before bed, Mike always has to double-check the locks on the door and the windows. It’s borderline OCD for him at this point, b/c if he doesn’t check, then he gets nagging thoughts of William coming in to attack them. Once he quits the pills, he’ll get up in the middle of the night to check the doors one more time.
•Mike still lets Abby sleep in his room when she gets scared or has a nightmare.
•When Abby does the kid thing of saying there’s a monster in her room, Mike is nervous for a half a second b/c…yeah. That’s not unusual in their lives. He’s half-worried when he checks her closet, imagining Foxy sticking his snout in the doors but is always relieved when there’s nothing there.
•Mike cannot sing to save his life. If he does, it’s when he’s in a really good mood and he’s trying to mess with Abby, b/c it’s a running joke how much she hates his singing.

Honestly? I'm not surprised the FNAF movie is delayed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They're DEFINETLY struggling to come up with a plot for the next movie. They planned to make three movies if the first went well, but they didn't really leave themselves much room for a sequel.
What do I mean by that? Well...
• The driving conflict of the first movie, that got Mike to work at Freddy's in the first place, was the custody battle with aunt Jane. But they fucking killed her off. (In the movie, it seems like it's possible she still may be alive, but in the book it's pretty much confirmed she's dead.) Abby sees her "lying in a puddle of ketchup" or something when golden freddy comes to get her. And I have a direct quote from Mike.
"You know," he said, "I think my aunt has finally decided to move on." I mean... she kind of did, Mike thought. (Pg 317)
• Oh, and also in the book, it's said Mike gets a nice new job as a contractor after the events at Freddy's, so it's not like they can pull the "Mike can't find a job so he HAS to work at another Freddy's location!" thing again.
• AND, they resolved his storyline with Garrett. He's found the killer, and watched him die. (Even if we know he's not dead). Mike realized Abby is much more important than his dead brother and he no longer torments himself with thoughts of Garrett... so I don't think he'd go poking around in another Freddy's location to "figure out what happened". He knows what happened. And he's finally over it.
• It seems like they TRIED to give themselves something to work with in the end credits. You know, the "C O M E F I N D M E". But honestly? It's not all that helpful. There's no clear way to tell who it's addressed to or who it's from. Everyone seems to agree it's Garrett speaking to Mike as the puppett, but honestly? That doesn't make sense to me.
• I've already explained that I don't think Mike is interested in learning more about his brother's death. He knows who killed him, and watched that man die. Mike is as "at peace" as he's ever going to get. Besides, I don't think Garrett is the puppett!! At all!!
• In the movie, Mike says he feels closer to Garrett at Freddy's. I think that means his soul is LITERALLY there, in THAT Freddy's location. Why else would he say that? Just because there are ghosts there killed by the same man? Also, in the novel, Mike literally sees Garrett's ghost in the pizzeria and it leads him to Springtrap. Finally, the "It's me" messages that keep appearing near Mike. Who else would be writing that shit? It's not just a little Easter egg for the audience. It has to be someone Mike knows. Garrett. (Also I think there's a strong argument to be made that Garrett is co-posessing Golden Freddy with the little blonde boy)
• SO THEN, WHO IS SAYING "COME FIND ME," AND WHO ARE THEY TALKING TO?
Honestly? No clue. But I think there are a few interesting directions they could take things.
1) From Mike's dad, to Mike.
In the movie they sort of imply Mike's dad offed himself, but in the book they reveal he just walked out on them. So he's still out there somewhere, and they could totally reveal he had some kind of connection to Freddy's and William, and it would explain why William drove all the way to goddamn Nebraska to kidnap some random ass kid.
2) From springtrap, to some unfortunate soul dumb enough to set him free
In the games, he was locked away in a bricked off room for like 30 years before being set free, but I don't think these movies are going to have that big of a time skip. Probably a year at most. So I could see the next movie starting with some idiot freeing springtrap.
3) Okay yeah I cant think of anything else.
And I know I'm not a professional screenplay writer but those bitches are anxiously struggling too!! In every interview where Josh Hutcherson (Mike) has been asked about a sequel, he says they're still trying to figure out the story. No shit!! They didn't give themselves anything to work with.
• So basically, Mike has absolutely no reason to go back to another Freddy's location, and the little secret message at the end is almost too vague to be useful.
So, what DID they leave themselves to work with in the next movie? What plot points remain unresolved?
• For one thing, they didn't even give William a fucking motive for killing kids. Or for luring security guards to their deaths. This version of him seems to have a much better understanding of remnant and possession that his game counterpart, but there's no reason given for that either. In the game, he does it all for his dead son. He wants to "fix" him. But they didn't set up any hints to that in the first movie. Mike talked to Vanessa about HIS dead brother, so I feel like if the whole "dead son" thing was the case, she would have mentioned she lost a sibling too.
• Or maybe William would have brought it up at the end when he was getting mad at Vanessa. The "mess YOU created!!" scene. He probably would have said something like, "You know why we have to do this, Vanessa." But he didn't. There's literally no known motive, and it'll be kind of hard to set one up without any breadcrumbs left in the previous movie.
• Mike was TOTALLY falling for Vanessa in the books. Yeah, I know, a lot of people feel FNAF isn't a place for romance, and SCHMELLY isn't a very popular ship... but that doesn't change the face he almost kissed her in the novel. (Also in the book she threw his EMPTY PILL BOTTLE into the river, didn't actually toss bro's meds! So she's a little more likeable!)
"Vanessa and Mike grinned at each other, and Mike felt something zing inside of him. It was a palpable 'wow' feeling that was much more intense than his casual appreciation of her beauty. And the zing felt like it was going both ways. The look Vanessa was giving Mike was one he hadn't ever seen before... not directed at him anyway. Her reciprocation of his feelings was so strong that he felt himself leaning toward her." (pg 186)
(They didn't kiss though, Vanessa blushed and looked away and changed the subject.) Still... now they have to address their little romantic subplot in the next movie as well.
• Vanessa. Just as a character. There's a lot to work with there. Personally, I think it would be interesting to use her coma to tell a story. You know, have her flashback to there's childhood with William and at Freddy's. (Honestly if they don't do that they're dumb and missing a huge opportunity. Why else put her in the goddamn coma?)
• Also, in the novel, they heavily implied she's... a robot? Apparently, her eyes drastically change color and Mike notes she flips from "girl mode" to "cop mode" on a dime. In the movie she just looked bipolar.
"Yeah Abby, let's use the tables for the fort! 😄"
"Mike if you bring her here again I will SHOOT YOU. 🤬"
• But yeah apparently she's a robot. A robot so convincing that even hospital nurses and doctors can't tell. With no explanation for how William could have built that. Or why there's a photo of her and William where she's clearly a child. Did he build a child robot that grew up into an adult woman robot? Or did he build two robots? Or did child Vanessa die and he replaced her with a robot? Who knows!
"Mike watched, mesmerized, as Vanessa's irises deepened noticeably in hue. They went from their usual soft, almost greyish-blue to a deeper indigo. The shift was so pronounced it almost looked computer-generated. It was also enormously disquieting. Mike felt like he was watching a human turn into..." (pg 184)
• So for the next move, Mike has no motive to go visit Freddy's, William has no motive in general, and Vanessa is a robot. The script practically writes itself, am I right??
And then there's the way Scott Cawthon likes to incorporate fan feedback into all of his projects.
(Ex: People complained FNAF 3 wasn't scary, so he made FNAF 4 horrifying)
• I have no doubt he's going to incorporate the fanbase's favorite characters into the next movie. (Ness, Doug, Maxine, Jeremy) Which honestly just complicates the plot further, adding more stipulations to the script.
• Bringing Ness back would be easy? Mike and Abby could have a scene in the diner, I guess, but it's also sort of unnecessary, and I'm not sure MatPat would agree to another cameo. He's retired.
• Bringing Doug back would be more complicated. He's aunt Jane's lawyer... but they fuckin' killed her off. So. Doug is not needed.
• Jeremy could come back? Maybe? He's really a background character... It's not stated whether or not Mike was friends with him outside work, or kept in touch with him after being fired.
• Maxine is a lot more complicated. The actress who plays her, Kathryn Sterling, said herself that she was originally supposed to have a bigger role in the film but it got trimmed down. And THEN there's the way she was stuffed into a purple Freddy suit, which a lot of fans theorize is supposed to be Shadow Freddy. On her TikTok, she basically confirms this, hinting to her character coming back in the next movie and being more important.
So in the next movie...
1) Mike has to somehow have to end up tangled back into Freddy Fazbullshit even though he has NO desire to... (Remember the way he looked at Abby when she asked if they could visit them??)
2) They have to reveal or at least hint towards Vanessa being a robot
3) Mike & Vanessa romance subplot??
4) William needs a fucking motive for killing people
5) The audience needs to be able to tell who "come find me" was said by AND who it was directed towards
6) Bonus points if they can cram in more youtuber cameos & beloved characters from the last movie like Jeremy and Doug
--------------------------------------------------
So yeah. It's a lot to consider when writing. And the clock is ticking, because kids, especially little kids like Garrett's actor, grow up FAST. And ghost kids aren't supposed to grow up. Ghost kids are supposed to be dead.
I do want to say though, that despite the plot holes, I LOVE the FNAF movie. I've watched it 20+ times. It's genuinely one of my comfort movies. I'm excited for the next movie, but I'm also sort of expecting it to be late 2025 before we get to see it.
Scott is notoriously picky. He turned down, like, 8 scripts for the first movie before settling on the Mike storyline. I don't mind waiting, especially considering how difficult this next movie is gonna be to write. Also if you read this whole rant?? Damn?? Kiss me on the mouth rn.

Okay so,
Apparently they're shutting down FNaF AR for good, opinion on the game?
Tumblr media
I think it was too expensive for what it offered with skins, basic mechanics and the rest of the stuff you could purchase, a lost potential in my eyes.
The models and some of the skins are f-ink sick tho.👌

CB said, "the scooper only hurts for a moment" and I know I'm probably reading too much into that line but it's kind of weird how she almost seems to care? Obviously, she's perfectly fine with scooping guts, but the line doesn't seem taunting or anything. Not to mention the whole "I won't let you die". Why not? Why just let him die if you're fine with scooping out his guts, did she realize afterwards that it was Michael not William and just... "oh shit, my bad. I'll make sure you keep living". Or was it a punishment because it was Michael?
Back to the scooper line though, how would she even know? The three options are:
She didn't. Just decided to reassure him that yeah, it'd be totally fine. He'd be fiiiiine.
She's scooped someone before.
The Funtimes can feel when they're being scooped, but that's okay. It only hurts for a moment.

FNAF WORLD IS THE FUTURE:
In UCN, we have 3 Fnaf World characters show up on your desk:
-Tangle
-White Rabbit
-Bouncepot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in Security Breach, we get:
-The Tangle
-Vanny
-Burntrap
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Blob is called The Tangle on the files, and it also has a Mangle head, which is weird because there's no other toy animatronics (except the puppet) in the Tangle
Tumblr media
Vanny is self-explanatory. They're literally both white rabbits
Burntrap is a bit of a stretch but hear me out:
-Bouncepot is actively referenced in SB
Tumblr media
- If you look at Burntrap more closely, it's pretty obvious he's grown onto the Mimic endo. There's no way he was just flopped onto it. He wrapped his flesh around the Mimic like a plant spreading its roots.
Tumblr media
That's it for Burnpot, but I got some more stuff that'll come in a later reblog.

So my friend and I are batshit insane and spent the better part of 4 hours tearing the FNaF Movie trailer to pieces.
here’s some of what we found:
Tumblr media
Mike drives a 2001 Honda Accord, which means the movie HAS to take place in the 2000s
and considering the state of the car
Tumblr media
And the general state of technology (outside of Freddy’s as it was shut down in the 80s and thus the tech was never updated) it’s probably set between 2004-2008
Another thing we noticed is the misdirection regarding time, date, and clothing (more under the cut cuz it’s a longer explanation)
The best example is when Mike is woken up by the Toreador March.
The trailer lead us to believe this is all one scene but if you look closely at what he’s wearing it becomes clear that it’s actually 3 different scenes stitched together
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are quite a few moments like this throughout the trailer
For example, when Vanessa is telling Mike about the Missing Children
Tumblr media
It’s clearly a more casual conversation, she’s not even in uniform, she’s wearing a yellow sweater
And Mike does directly respond in the voiceover, but when it cuts to a scene we assume at first glance is a continuation of the conversation
Tumblr media
Vanessa is back in her uniform. In all likelihood, this is a completely different scene all together (most likely occurring earlier in the movie, some time during their first meeting perhaps?)
(Side note: I’m aware splicing different scenes is a common thing trailers do to mislead audiences, I know the fnaf trailer isn’t special for it. I just think it’s really cool.)
Another thing we noticed was that the scene with the mystery woman collapsed on the floor
Tumblr media
Takes place in Mike’s house, as the recliner is the exact same
Tumblr media
And finally my maniac of a friend found the exact toy this fucking kid is holding
Tumblr media
Apparently it’s from 1974. So that’s something. And the car is most likely from the late 70s - early 80s, but we couldn’t get a good enough look to be sure.

The Bite of 83, Mike’s Afton Status, and Screenplay Evolution
blumhouse has given us enough ample clues that the Bite of 83 will be portrayed!
considering how “garrett’s” actor (presumably CC) took a photo with “young mike,” alluding to the word “brother” in the caption. golden freddy is a confirmed role in the voice actor cast. and mike’s character description states “Riddled with guilt over a tragedy in his past.” also this tweet lol

it all adds up. it makes so much sense for mike schmidt to be haunted by himself inadvertently causing the d34th of garrett, his brother.
garrett, who ironically has no last name listed, unlike “abby schmidt” and “mike schmidt.”
garrett afton, perhaps?
next, let me talk about scott’s announcement on reddit about the final script selected for the fnaf movie, and the preceding screenplays before the “mike script” was selected.
specifically the “random charlie” script:
Tumblr media
scott found fault with this particular script because while the characters shared names with their game/book counterparts, that was the only thing in common with them. so, scott seemed like he wanted characters that share names AND character arcs with the game cast.
and look at the “ghost trackers” script:
Tumblr media
evidently, scott wanted the main characters to have a connection to freddy’s and not just be random people solving the mystery. he wanted the protagonists to directly have stronger ties to freddy’s.
based on blumhouse hinting at the Bite of 83, Scott’s decisions & preferences while selecting a screenplay for the film, Mike Schmidt’s character description, and “Garrett’s” actor posting a picture on instagram with “Young Mike,” there’s two routes i can see playing out:
1) either mike is NOT an afton, but the bite of 83 still happened —> this gives motivations and “a stronger connection between the protagonist and freddy’s,” as scott explicitly stated that he wanted.
2) or mike IS an afton, and the bite of 83 still happened. —> again, this gives motivations and “a stronger connection between the protagonist and freddy’s,” as scott explicitly stated that he wanted.
either of these interpretations reflect what scott has outlined in what he wants in a screenplay.
Now if mike is not an afton, his sole motivation would be finding forgiveness and redemption, & freeing his brother’s soul who is presumably in golden freddy??
i definitely am rooting for mike schmidt to be michael afton but if that’s not the case, at least we have the bite of 83 being pretty much confirmed, and at least 50% of game!mike’s character motivations will be depicted in the movie. that’s still a win to me!
But that’s just a theory. A GAME THE—*gunshots*
TLDR; bite of 83 is basically confirmed for the movie, mike’s afton status is unknown atp and it could go either way, but the bite will be one of his sole motivations as the protagonist, based on scott’s desire to 1) keep character names in the movie consistent to the characters in the game, & 2) portray the protagonist having strong ties to freddy’s

I love you MatPat and I hope you enjoy your retirement as host but god damn man that might've just been the most dogshit read on a character I've seen yet. I don't know what's worse, still peddling the idea William is by any stretch a caring dad or that this clearly traumatised woman is a robot because she acts like a traumatised woman.

Who do you guys think the Bonnie Mask is for in FNAF Help Wanted 2?
Very hyperfixated right now and I want to hear everyone's thoughts on it! Feel free to say anything about the game/books/etc, I'm caught up on all things FNAF except for the newest Pizzaplex Book: B7-2 (No spoilers for that please)!

A theory about the FNAF movie (MAJOR spoilers ahead):
I think Mike Schmidt is, in fact, William Afton's son. In other words, Michael Afton. Mike simply doesn't remember William because the sleeping pills he was taking screwed with his memories.
Not only that, but I even came up with a reason William killed Garrett Schmidt, Mike's ADOPTIVE younger brother. Simply put, William lost custody of Mike due to fallout from the MCI years ago, so he tracked down the Schmidt family and took revenge by kidnapping Garrett and ending his life. Basically, the Schmidts took one of HIS children, so he retaliated by taking one of THEIR children because he's that vengeful and petty.
William didn't kill Garrett because he loved Mike, though. He did it because he sees his children as his property, and nobody likes having their property taken from them. And something else William doesn't like is when other people are happier than he is (something I deduced due to the game and book versions of him killing Charlotte Emily, which I surmise was done to spite Henry, whom William had expressed jealousy towards in his writings).
I know this theory is pretty flimsy. If Mike is William's son, that would make Vanessa his sister, and neither of them recognized each other at all. (Mike has sleeping pills to blame, but Vanessa has no excuse that we know of.) Not to mention some people interpret Mike and Vanessa's relationship as being more than simply platonic, which would make things VERY weird. Also, if William lost custody of Mike, how did he still have Vanessa around? Is Vanessa even his biological child? Did he kidnap her? Brainwash her?
Not to mention, William's double-take at Mike's last name may disprove this entire theory. That double-take seemed less like William acting and more like a genuine surprised reaction. Not in a "hold up, this is my son" way but in a "hold up, this guy is that Garrett kid's brother" way.
The only reason I'm clinging to this theory is that it gives William an actual motive for killing Garrett instead of it just being at random. Plus, I genuinely feel we need a sequel in order to prove or disprove this theory entirely, so until we get one... yeah.
One detail that's itching my brain is that when we first meet Vanessa, she introduces herself as "Vanessa Shelly". Not Vanessa Afton. Either she was adopted by another family too, or she changed her last name to distance herself from William. I'm not sure which one it might be.
Another detail that's bothering me is that the Missing Children have apparently been contacting Abby for quite some time before the movie begins, and I genuinely wonder WHY that is. How did they find Abby? Why did they want HER to join them, aside from wanting her to be their new BFF? What's so special about Abby? Is she connected to someone important? Is she just naturally receptive to ghosts? I really wanna know!
I'm willing to be wrong about all this, just so y'all know. I just think it's strange that William Afton randomly killed Mike Schmidt's younger brother for seemingly no reason, and I'm not satisfied with it just him doing it randomly.

I'm convinced that half the people who don't like things revealed in "Dittphobia" are mad that it disproves their theories and believe therefore it "must've been a retconed bc I couldn't possibly be wrong so Scott changed it"
And the other half wasn't really even interested in theorizing about fnaf 4 anymore, simply accepted one theory as canon (let it be coma theory or any other than experiment theory) and are now annoyed that anything is tempered with their seemingly explained timeline. Funny enough some of these people still thought we play as CC during nights in fnaf 4.
(And ofc these two things aren't always the case of why someone doesn't like "Dittophobia" things but for the sake of simplicity I've described two main reasons I saw on Tumblr and Twitter)

So, like, the other day (yesterday?) I saw a post, which really got me thinking:
To start, I want to say I think good father William/William motivated by his kids' deaths is an interesting idea and can make for equally interesting AUs, but just that, as an idea, I don't subscribe to the actual theory that CC's (and/or especially not Elizabeth's) death kickstarted Will's murder spree.
In fact, I personally think that either Charlie or Elizabeth died before the crying child, more likely Charlie though, and that what CC saw was one of the twos deaths (or alternatively both).
To preface, I'm working under the assumption that Midnight Motorist is about the Afton's (motorist = William, couch slouch = Michael, runaway = CC), and is later the night of Charlotte's murder.
To elaborate, I think either a. as seen in Midnight Motorist, CC runs from home, goes to "that place", the same Freddy's/Fredbear's that William just killed Charlie at, and sees the aftermath, with the Puppet laying over her body, kickstarting (or boosting) his fear of the animatronics, with him under the assumption the Puppet murdered Charlie; to add on, he could've either not told anyone (but William still figured it out), or he was the one who discovered and reported Charlie's body (in addition to this I am somewhat in the camp of thinking the final speaker in 4 is Charlie, possessing, or at least speaking through, the Fredbear plush to CC, which to work would've needed her to die first).
B. is that CC (as somewhat commonly depicted in fanworks) witnessed Elizabeth getting snatched up by Circus Baby, again kickstarting or boosting his fear of the animatronics, and William could've seen this from like, his office or smt.
C. as mentioned earlier, alternatively, both could have happened.
Also for all intents and purposes, I don't think William really cares for his kids, I mean, his mistreatment of them certainly seems to be consistent across timelines (allowing Michael to bully CC, making vague threats concerning CC, constantly neglecting and even slapping Elizabeth, stabbing Vanessa when she defies him), and I'm under the impression any care he may have for his kids is either a twisted mockery of fatherly love, or just false and/or meant to establish control over said kids.
I mean, in TFC William doesn't even seem to put much effort in, yet Elizabeth still works with/for him regardless (for the most part), and the whole reason SL happens is because he tells Michael to go down into the bunker (putting his life at risk in the process, one more contributing to his bad parent rep). I'd wager Will sees he kids more as tools than actual family, especially as he seems far more interested in his, and even moreso Henry's, creations.
