i’ve always found it peculiar how during meeting the chargers cutscene the game just assumes your character automatically understands what krem is talking about when he mentions binding (though, granted, it’s all very unsubtle). like, this is a roleplaying game. what if i want to play a character who just doesn’t get it
#dragon age#cremisius aclassi#inquisitor trevelyan#at least give me an in game explanation of why the inquisitor would Know this right away#it's not like transgenderism is a widely explored topic in da lore. the most you can find about it in inquisition specifically excluding#krem and seras countless transmisogynistic lines is one codex that mentions that some previous divine mightve been a trans woman#and the way it's written sucks ass. the infamous sex in thedas codex also mentions nothing on the topic of transness. so like#whats up with that#art stuff#before anyone says anything i fully realize how i look critiquing a bioware game that came out in 2014 on its faulty queer representation#please trust me i know. im just thinking out loud#ALSO. in case it isnt obvious. parsley transed they gender. the joke is that theyre a nonbinary femme now#its hard for me to show it through art because it would involve misgendering them but they dont actually start going by they/them pronouns#until after halamshiral. so like technically if i made them refer to themselves as he/him at any point before that it would be canonical but#its not like my art is chronological by any means and cannot be taken out of context by virtue of it existing as an individual post online#if someone were to reblog an art of them saying hi im a dude theyd go cool! hashtag male inquisitor. or something#the tragic case of sacrificing narrative in order to not get second hand discomfort at seeing parsley misgendered#ANYWAY..........

Love love LOVE to see someone ask: what do these words even mean??? while on tumblr.
It’s almost like to access tumblr via the app or on a computer, you also have multiple dictionaries on hand to at least make an attempt to look things up on your own before actually adding inane commentary to someone else’s post

how do we know in the books that john is indigenous? can you say more about how his indigeneity is important to his story?
hello! so there is a word of god post on race (doesn't mention John but mentions that Gideon is "mixed Maori"), BUT I frankly don't think word of god statements are worth any weight without actual in-text support (see: the "dumbledore is gay" situation). SO!
Specific evidence that John Gaius is Maori, as revealed in Nona the Ninth:
When he is listing his education, John mentions having gone to Dilworth School (John 20:8). Dilworth is an all boys boarding school in Auckland and accepts students based on financial need instead of academic or sporting achievements. Demographics appear to be about 70% low income Maori boys, indicating that it is highly likely that John is Maori
John reports that P- said he looked like a "Maori-TV pink panther" (John 15:23) when his eyes turned gold. Maori TV is a TV station that is focused primarily on Maori culture & language revitalization, with presumably all or mostly Maori hosts, and tbh I don't see why P- would say this unless John was himself Maori
John uses a te reo Māori phrase ("kia kaha, kia māia") (John 5:20) when he is saying goodbye to the corpses in the cryo lab before the power is shut off. Though it is possible he said this as a non-Maori kiwi, but in combination with the previous two points of evidence I think this all very strongly points to him being Maori
He also renames his daughter Kiriona Gaia, "Kiriona" being just literally the name "Gideon" in te reo Māori
TLT is not a series that hands you anything on a silver platter but to ME this is all pretty solid proof
Why is this relevant to The Locked Tomb?
In Nona the Ninth, we learn that before he completed apotheosis and ate the solar system, John was basically trying to save the earth from capitalism-caused climate change. Climate justice and the rights of indigenous people over their own land are deeply tied together, in the same way that climate catastrophe and capitalism/ imperialism/ colonialism are linked. disclaimer that this is NOT my area of study and others have definitely said it better; this is just the basic gist as I understand it, but on quick search I found some sources here and here if you want to do some reading.
TLT is not a series that hands you anything on a silver platter, but i don't think it is a stretch to see John as an indigenous man trying to save the earth and getting ignored and shut down at every turn by primarily western colonial powers (PanEuro, the USA) who declare him a terrorist and then as a reader thematically connecting that to the experience of indigenous climate activists IRL
there are absolutely TLT meta posts that have discussed this before me; tumblr search is nonfunctional and I have been looking for an hour and a half and cannot find anything specific even though i KNOW i reblogged multiple posts about this in the first few weeks following NTN's release. sad & I am sorry
I think that by the time the books take place, John is 10k years removed from the cultural context he grew up in, with the Nine Houses having become a genocidal colonial power in their own right (with more parallels to be made between John's forever war for the resources of literal life energy and like, oil wars), but I also think that John Gaius is a fictional character who can represent and symbolize multiple different things in service of telling a story. (not to mention the potential thematic parallels being made to how oppressed people sometimes are pressed into replicating the power dynamics of their oppressors and continuing the cycle--now that is a tumblr post i KNOW i read last year and definitely cannot find right now, once again sad & I am sorry)
How Radical Was John Gaius, Really is a forum thread that was locked by the moderators after 234534645674564 pages of heated debate

Alright, my lovely people. I’d like to give a little rundown of what a labor union is and what protections it provides for workers because I think that it’s context that’s important to the current situation. Please bear in mind that I am by no means an expert. I am drawing on my research and my own experience being in a union at a previous job to write this post. Please feel free to reblog with anything I’ve missed.
What is a union?
A union is a group of workers who have banded together in order to use their collective strength and voices to make a difference in their workplace. Many unions were formed due to dissatisfaction with exploitative or unsafe working conditions (look up Appalachian coal miners if you want to see an example).
What do unions do?
Unions are there to act on behalf of their workers; their entire purpose is to ensure that their members (and, often by extension, non-members) receive fair wages, proper breaks, safe working conditions, and many other benefits. They are made by and for workers.
What do unions NOT do?
Unions do NOT exist to break up companies. Unions are there to ensure that workers are treated fairly. Union leaders will first do everything in their power to obtain better working conditions by negotiating with the company on the behalf of the employees. Shutting down a business because of poor labor conditions will never be a union’s priority; they will ALWAYS be on the side of the labor force. The union may take the company to court and the company might later collapse as a result of that (whether because of court fees, public backlash, or other reasons) but the goal is to preserve the workers’ jobs while also making sure that the workers are treated fairly.
What does this mean for qsmp?
I don’t know. Do I think there are major problems? Yes, absolutely. Do I think that Quackity is working to address these problems? Again, yes. Do I-or anyone else for that matter-know what those solutions are or what they may look like? No, we do not!! I cannot see into the future; neither can Twitter. We need to have patience and understanding as we all wait to see what comes next.
I’ve seen a lot of doomposting here. I’ve seen a lot of anxiety and stress. If that’s where your mind is at, you might need to take a break from the internet for a bit; god knows I might. This situation isn’t going to be fixed by attacking the cc’s or the admins or anyone else who’s involved. That’s not our job; we’re only adding more negativity and stress to people who may already be at their limit.
Be kind. Be patient. Be a community. That’s what this server is all about, ultimately. It’s time to prove that. Hope this helps.

hi, i wanted to give you an update on that post of mine you reblogged. heritageposts has informed me that they were using the red triangle in this context: https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20231123-one-small-red-triangle-palestine-we-are-finally-looking/
i was wrong about what they meant with the 🔻 emoji and i am officially rescinding my previous statement
I am all for fact checking and I would love to believe that Heritage Posts did not mean this particular horrible thing they did.
However, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) is not a reliable source for information in this conflict. If HP is actually using MEMO for news, they should focus on more reliable ones going forward.
There are plenty of other left-leaning sources with more reliability, credibility, sourcing, and transparency.
They have failed several fact checks for misleading and occasionally false information. The publication is explicitly and repeatedly pro-Hamas, and they often omit vital information to skew their stories.
While they are not rated as an outright propaganda publication or as a source of conspiracy theories, they do often cite sources which do and are.
Finally, they are funded by donations. Of course these donations largely come from people who support the kind of reporting that people who donate to them support. They are a nonprofit organization, which is not inherently a bad thing. But this means their interests are not based in journalistic ideals but in political ideology. This is not a reason to completely discount a source, but it is something to keep in mind.
In general, with a topic this intense and with such profound consequences for so many people, I’m only engaging with sources who receive a “reporting” rating of “high” or better and a “credibility” rating of “high credibility.”
I would POSSIBLY consider a “reporting” rating of “Mostly factual” if it had a “high credibility” rating and several extenuating circumstances and reduced media bias to compensate for its lower score in another area.
Leftist sources worth referencing instead:
Forward Progressives
Haaretz
International Policy Digest
Current Affairs
And many others
Personally, though, (for this particular conflict especially) I tend to prefer sources that fall into the central three categories: left-center biased, least biased, and right-center biased.
No news source is perfect or without bias. But this conflict is so fraught that I frankly don’t trust anyone reporting with extreme ideological intentions. And I also don’t want to only read sources that make me comfortable. I am personally very leftist in all of my personal politics and voting. However, I also know that the far left has been more hostile to me based solely on my Jewish ethnicity than anyone else in these past months. Furthermore, I think politicians should be more left, but journalism should always prioritize facts and a full scope of a situation over any one viewpoint. I am the daughter of a journalist. I am deeply in favor of journalistic freedom. And I absolutely do NOT believe in “both sidesism.” Sometimes, there really aren’t two sides to a situation that are both equally worth listening to. There is no alternative viewpoint to “Black Lives Matter” for example that is not deeply racist.
There are not “two sides worth teaching” when it comes to The Holocaust.
But the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not so simple. Israel should stop its bombing of Palestine. Palestinians should have full and equal rights. Jewish people in Israel and around the world should not have to live in constant fear or attack, harassment, or murder. There are a lot of extremely valid perspectives from Palestinians, Muslims, Israelis, Arabs, and Jews. And right now, the far left and the far right are weaponizing their ideologies to reduce all of the aforementioned groups to their worst actors. That is not something that will help anyone with regard to this conflict.
Left Leaning Sources
ABC News
Associated Press
Atlantic Media
Boston Globe
The Forward (This is a Jewish source. They had one failed fact check in the last five years, but issued an official correction.)
Human Rights Watch
Institute for Middle East Understanding (This is a Palestinian source and it has a completely clean fact check record)
Least Biased Sources
Jewish Telegraphic Agency (Obviously a Jewish source)
Reuters (this has a Very High reporting rating)
American Press Institute (not only have they not failed a fact check in five years; they have never failed a fact check ever)
The Conversation
Pew Research
Foreign Policy
Foreign Affairs
Sky News UK
Right Leaning
Note: As I stated numerous times, including in this post, I am a leftist. However, something important for American readers of this post to know is that, when it comes specifically to matters involving military analysis of foreign conflicts, a slight right lean in perspective is common and sometimes preferable to leftist idealism. I say this as someone who votes and holds opinions that are about as far left as one can get. However, I also say this as someone with a background in university studies of international politics. Because analysis of military conflicts is often done by those with experience in and understanding of the military, most of the most credible and detailed analyses of foreign military affairs do tend to be more right leaning than sources of equal worth focused on domestic political matters. Furthermore, a leftist tendency toward pacifism (which I share) tends to mean less leftist involvement in military-involved political matters at all. Of course, none of this means there are no quality leftist sources on the current conflict (which I obviously demonstrated by linking to such sources above). I am simply explaining the value of such sources to those who may justifiably be skeptical of anything right-leaning after the hellish past two decades of domestic policies and US-caused violence in other countries.
Note 2: There are plenty of right-leaning sources that received “high” credibility ratings and “high” reporting ratings. I found no sources that had both “very high” credibility and “high” reporting ratings in the “right-center” category.
Boston Herald
Chicago Tribune
Counter Extremism Project
Foreign Policy Research Institute
The Jewish Press (clearly a Jewish source, this publication is geared toward the Modern Orthodox Jewish community. They have no failed fact checks)
ITV News
Jewish Unpacked (this source has no failed fact checks. this source is right-leaning by necessity because of its historical examination of antisemitism in leftist spaces making those spaces inherently unsafe for Jews—not specifically in this most recent flare up in the I/p conflict, but for years).
Right Bias
Note: I don’t personally follow or read any of these sources. But I did list leftist sources with high credibility and reporting ratings, so I will do the same here in the interest of fairness. It should be noted that all other source bias ratings had results several pages long. Right Bias sources with high credibility and reporting ratings were confined to one page only. There are no Right Bias Sources with Very High reporting ratings and high credibility.
Economic Policy Journal (no failed fact checks now or ever)
Influence Watch (tends to view liberal and progressive politics as “extremist,” but has no failed fact checks.)
I am not inclined to trust HP simply because their most recent antisemitic behavior fell short of hoping for Jewish genocide. I have a higher bar for accounts than that.

please tell me what’s going on in riverdale you are my only source - I haven’t watched since season 1 is it clown of me to hope that Betty and Veronica are kissing again
oh my dude, my guy, my pal, it’s not clown of you at ALL, I’m cooked rn and I’ve actually been thinking about beronica all night so I’m gonna catch you up on their recent moments w a fuckton of screencaps you’re welcome bestie
okay for context, idk if you know this but in s7 they’ve all gotten stuck in a 1950s universe bc of a comet, crazy stuff yknow how it be, anyway so everyone’s a wee 27-year-old teenage virgin and no one remembers the previous 6 seasons (except for lots of signs that they still have emotional memories)
7.02 Veronica tells Betty she’s a catch, a total Marilyn, and she gets all blushy! Seems innocuous but Betty’s journey this season is very much being filtered through the lens of her discovering her femininity and sexuality, and Lili said in interviews she’s been playing it like Betty is seeing all her peers in a new sexual light so I’ve been reading into every microexpression this season feeling insane but actually? Not insane at all*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7.06 Betty goes to Veronica for advice about feeling sexy, Veronica tells her all about how she loves to wear lingerie, describes loving the sensations etc. and invites her over to try some on, and the whole locker room scene* Betty is like 👁️👄👁️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7.09 We find out that Veronica is one of the people Betty fantasises about, and one of her fantasies includes this locker room* kiss that, imho, combined with Lili's interview about how she's playing Betty this season? Defffffinitely connects back to Betty's awe during the locker room lingerie talk
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
7.12 After all the Riverdale parents have been classically negligent, Veronica and Betty start living alone together w no adults in V's apartment at the Pembrooke. They invite Kevin and Clay over for a sleepover and they all sing I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair, and then later when it's just B and V, Veronica brings up Kevin and Clay's relationship and they both express curiosity about same sex relationships, V admits she's kissed a girl, B admits she's thought about kissing V specifically, V asks if she wants to try it, they almost kiss before they're interrupted by Mary (who, sidenote: schooled all the moms in Riverdale that week for their negligence and reset the living arrangement status quo)

oh shit I hit image limit and I'm only halfway through this LMAOOOO look what you've done anon you've got me long-posting
alright I'm gonna reblog this and continue to make it even longer and more annoying bc THIS IS IMPORTANT STUFF xoxo

it's quite a dishonest framing that you say hussein was "regarding you with suspicion" baselessly even though you've publicly state on your blog how you believe zionism is an "intracommunity" discussion.
they at no point even mention that they blame you for "israel's actions". they assumed you were talking about zionism because of previous pointed statements you endorsed where you say zionism should be only discussed by jews. its not imagined, you straight up said this? and you claim that hussein is antisemitic for assuming you're saying the same thing again just with more inclusive language? And it coincided a few days after me posting that tributary post about "defining yourself as zionist or antizionist"? So he assumed that it was in relation to it? sure you might not have meant it about zionism this time, but with previous statements you've made/endorsed you don't exactly have the right to act like you have no idea why they would assume that and misconstrue this as an antisemitic attack where he's conflating zionism with judiasm when you literally agree that zionism should only be discussed by jews, which means you yourself are conflating zionism and judiasm.
Tumblr media
but ok, i guess, they were just taking your words out of context because they're "antisemitic". I even saw this ask last month and assumed you were talking about zionism in your recent post because of this statement you published and told him privately thats what i assumed you were talking about. Not because of you being jewish. But because i remembered this statement you agreed with because i was so offended reading it. And yeah it's a really bad statement that I'll remember because of how antipalestinian it is so sorry I don't think you get to claim the moral highground???? You didn't exactly disagree with any part of this person's statements?????
And like I would have left this alone but hussein often gets called antisemitic by people you associate with and reblog from, and it really shows how little compassion you all have for Palestinians (which btw as I say over and over, we have a right to point out harmful rhetoric that impacts us) who have a "knee-jerk reaction" to these things when we quite literally see our communities call for the deaths of our friends and family by starvarion and bombing in the name of zionism and when we call it out irl we get called antisemitic. You could have like sent an ask or publicly clarified your intentions but you just jumped straight to calling him antisemitic. Which the onus of responsibility is on YOU because of your previous statements. Why would we assume you mean something different based on past experiences???
Rhetoric like "zionism is an intracommunity issue" is stuff that has literally led to death of our loved ones so of course we have "kneejerk reactions" when there is literal proof of you saying these things before. We are not doing this because you're Jewish, we are doing this because we see and experience first hand this rhetoric and youre perpetuating it blatantly and you have people who follow you who look to you for perspective on "israel/palestine". It's so disingenuous to claim he's an antisemite when he's literally finding common talking points zionists perpetuate against us and call it out. And saying "I don't support the likud government or Westbank settlers" means nothing to us because our families were expelled from palestine before likud and settlers happened. Trying to separate modern day zionism from its colonial roots from the 1800s is at its core anti-palestinian, no matter what other conversations you want to have.
Again like the only reason this matters is because people follow you and look to you for perspective AND you reblog/interact with people we have pointed out as harmful. I literally would not care enough to make this post if i didnt see your posts spread enough times around here. So it's not because you're jewish and framing it like that is really dishonest when the person pointing this out was a palestinian who lost family due to zionism throughout multiple generations of their lives.

Far too many pics of the Palais Garnier (Part Two!)
Tumblr media
In October of 2022, I had the extraordinary experience of getting to complete an 15+ year old dream of mine to visit the Palais Garnier. I took a metric fuckton of pictures and now I want to share them with you all, the PotO community!
Before I start dumping, a few things:
Please reblog this post. I usually don’t post a lot, therefore I don’t have a big following. I’d really appreciate people sharing these as much as they can. When I was a dumb kid in ye olden days of the internet, finding a post like this was the sort of thing I would have been hyped up on for weeks. Help spread that kind of joy!
Feel free to use these photos for any sorts of graphics, artistic reference or any other fandom related projects, as long as it’s not for profit. Please just credit me in some way. In fact, I'd love to be tagged to see whatever creations come from sharing all this!
This is part two, which will be photos of the interior. While there, I also took a tour, Mysteries of the Palais Garnier. I'll share a lot of the things I learned throughout the post and try to provide as much context as I can.
PART 1 (exterior) | PART 2 (here!) | PART 3 (foyer) | PART 4 (stage)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Upon leaving the designated tour office area, we entered this large, circular room where our tour began. Giant mirrors lined the walls and one of my companions immediately remarked that she felt as though someone was watching her from behind them.
On the ceiling there was this intricate pattern. We learned that this was Charles Garnier's "signature". He was concerned that at some point in time, his name would be forgotten and he would no longer be remembered as the architect of the Opera. If you look closely, his name is intertwined in the design, as well as the years of the building's construction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are salamanders hidden throughout the building as they were said to ward off devastating fires. It was very common for theaters to burn down, then. In fact, the construction of the Garnier was somewhat rushed in the last few years because the company's previous theater, Salle le Peletier burned to the ground in 1873. The Garnier opened in 1875.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We learned in our tour that these cracks on the steps were the result of a great tragedy. A group of ballerinas had been exploring the roof when the glass on the large window above cracked. One ballerina fell through the window and met her demise on the steps below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With all these pictures of doors to the private boxes, you're probably wondering, "Hey Lotus, what about the most important one?" I got you, boo.

[Reposting this because I'm dumb stupid and don't know how reblogs work! This was supposed to be a reblog of this post by @g0nta-g0kuhara, a multi-part analysis of Kokichi Oma in Chapter 4]
Ooh a meta post! Sends me back to when I was first researching the DRV3 fandom before playing the game (I'm a little backwards, I know...). I only read the one part, but I wanted to chime in with some additions on top of the existing analysis.
Interestingly, the "neutral Kokichi face" that's highlighted in this post is one of two "neutral faces" that Kokichi makes throughout the game. That would be stand_005_037, or Kokichi's 37th sprite.
Tumblr media
The other "neutral face" is the next sprite over, stand_005_038, which appears in a different context from the previous sprite. The difference between the two is really not terribly noticeable at a glance, so here's a visual.
Tumblr media
Up to now, I've considered sprite 37 to be Kokichi's "unserious neutral", as his expression appears more relaxed than that of sprite 38, what I've thought to be his "serious neutral".
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You know he's not serious when he's agreeing with Maki.
With the information from this analysis, though, it might be more accurate to call it his "masking neutral". Kokichi will use sprite 38 in low-emotion situations when he has a point to get across, like here in the Chapter 3 post-trial.
Tumblr media
However, in high-emotion situations, as said in the initial analysis post, Kokichi is likely trying to hold himself back. That's when sprite 37 comes in.
Tumblr media
Bro is either stifling a laugh or seething with anger in there
Regarding Kokichi's sprite 38, there's some stuff I've come across which loosely implies that it initially had a different design. When Kaito recaps his conversation with Kokichi in the hangar in the Chapter 5 post-trial, the conversation is portrayed with a sepia tone. The sprites for this conversation aren't really "sprites", per-se -- the entire scenario is actually stored as a series of background images in the game files.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One image that caught my attention, however, was bg_201_11:
Tumblr media
On my first playthrough of the game, I dubbed this sprite "Kokichi angy"
This image stands out at a glance because of the Kokichi sprite, which isn't seen anywhere else in the entire game. Compared to the other images in the set, this image actually seems to be from an older build of the game, as the shadows in the background, shading on the sprites, and position of Kokichi's arm-belt-things are different.
Tumblr media
bg_201_11 vs bg_201_01
My guess is that this unused sprite was an older version of sprite 38, especially since the current sprite 38 has similar errors as the older sprite.
Tumblr media
Personally, I'm glad "Kokichi angy" wasn't actually used in the final game. He looks a little too much like a wet cat.
On another topic, also related to the linked analysis: let's talk about the ever controversial whiteboard note written by Kokichi under Shuichi's photo which, in the English localization, reads "trustworthy?"
Tumblr media
As many people have pointed out, both now and in the past, this note was translated oddly and the original text was 「油断ならない?」 (yudan naranai?).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though it's often translated by fans as “sneaky or cunning”, the literal translation is actually “don't be careless”, with “yudan” meaning “careless” and “naranai” meaning “must not (be)”. This is translateable in most situations as “dangerous”, hence that being the stock translation supplied by Jisho.org.
After all, "don't be careless" has essentially the same meaning as "this is dangerous", in most situations at least (think mountain climbing, or traveling through a dark alley; you wouldn't want to be careless because it is dangerous, you don't know what to expect so it's treacherous and sneaky).
When translating a note regarding a person, though, I would think "don't be careless" would be more appropriate, especially considering Shuichi isn't particularly dangerous compared to some other people in the academy whose dangers are well known (*cough cough* Maki)
You can find the independent translated meanings of yudan and naranai on Jisho as well as on Wikitionary (yudan, naranai).
So, Kokichi is essentially telling himself to stay on his guard around Shuichi, since he doesn't know what to expect from him. His attempt to team up with Shuichi in Chapter 4 was probably his confirmation that Shuichi wanted nothing to do with him, and that he should formulate his plans accordingly. It would probably have been ideal for him to have Shuichi on his side, as he saw Shuichi as a wild card (rather ironically; I'd imagine the group perceives Kokichi as the wild card of the group). So despite the translation error, the points made by the linked analysis still hold decent ground.
All in all, despite my belief that Chapter 4 is absolutely ridiculous, the linked analysis is quite good when one assumes Chapter 4 is logically sound (it's not), and still holds up even to someone like me who really dislikes Chapter 4 for its severe logical fallacies (my suspension of disbelief was absolutely thrown out the window when I played it... but maybe that's a matter for another day)

Writing's On The Wall | Agent Whiskey (One Shot)
Tumblr media
A case of mistaken identity. A spy who should know better. Another spy who knows how to get what she wants. An apology in the only form Agent Whiskey knows how. A night neither of you will forget in a rush.
Pairing | Agent Whiskey x f!reader
Word Count | 2.8k
Warnings | Alcohol consumption, SMUTTY SMUT, oral (f receiving), unprotected PiV sex, a knife is mentioned but not in the context of the smut. Lots of flirting. Reader has an accent described but no physical description apart from the colour of her lipstick, no use of Y/N.
Authors Note | This idea has been rotting my brain so I had to get it down on paper. It actually turned out better than I could have expected. This is probably the best smut I've ever written, I hope you agree. I hope you enjoy it! If you do, please consider giving me a follow, liking the post or reblogging. It all helps.
Main Masterlist
The juice of the orange slice burst onto your tongue as you chewed it. Fished from the dregs of your negroni it had the bitter taste from the alcohol, but still acted as the sweet treat you wanted. The bartender swiped your empty glass and replaced it with a freshly made drink, one you hadn’t asked for.
“Compliments of the gentleman at the end of the bar.” He informed.
You turned your head in the direction the bartender had pointed to see the man who’d had his eyes on you all evening raise his glass of whiskey towards you. You shot a sultry smile in his direction, lifting your own glass in a kind of long-distance cheers before taking a sip. You wiped the red stain of your lipstick from the rim, rubbing your thumb on the napkin on the bar.
You watched intently as he stood, glass of whiskey in hand, and walked towards you, “I hope you don’t mind some company,” His American accent floated to your ears, “A beautiful woman like you should never sit alone.”
“I like my own company,” You replied in your heavily accented English, “But I suppose I can make an exception for you.” You rested a hand on his arm that was placed on the bar.
“What brings you to Budapest?” He asks, “Business or pleasure?”
You look him up and down, the situation dripping with the sexual tension you thrived on. Slowly dragging your eyes down from his face and over his perfectly tailored suit, catching his eyes as he did the same to you. He was mentally undressing you of your slinky black dress in his mind and you knew it. These men were all the same.
“Both.”
He raises his eyebrows at that, “What kind of business?”
“Well, now, if I told you that I’d have to kill you,” You retort, your face dropping all pretense of the previous flirting between the two of you. You watched as he swallowed nothing, his Adams apple bobbing before you let out a laugh, “Lighten up, you Americans are all the same, it was a joke, but my work is dull, and I would rather not waste time talking about it.”
He laughed along with you, but joined in a beat too late, just enough to make himself feel awkward about the situation. You picked up the negroni in front of you, draining it down in three long sips, slamming the empty glass on the bar.
“There’s been a distinct lack of pleasure from my side,” He admits, going back to dragging his eyes over your body, “I hope you’ve had more luck than me.”
A smirk falls back over your red painted lips, “Well that will never do, are you staying here?” You gestured to the bar in the hotel.
“I am.” He replied simply.
“Maybe you’d like to show me your room?” You winked as you stood from the bar, watching out of the corner of your eye as he finished his drink, leaning over the bar to tell the bartender to put both his and your drinks for the evening on his room tab.
You were already stepping into the elevator when he caught up to you. He pressed the number for his floor before settling back against the wall, his hand coming to rest at the small of your back, “I don’t even know your name.”
“Maybe that’s for the best,” You shrugged as the elevator came to a stop on his floor, “Passings ships in the night and all that,” You could see that he wanted to press you, but the doors opened, “Lead the way.” You motioned for him to step out in front of you.
Following down the hall behind him you couldn’t deny the back of him was just as delightful as the front had been. His suit was cutting down all his best lines and you could swear he’d asked for his trousers to be tailored too small because there was no way any respectable man would pick trousers that showed off his ass like this man was.
He stopped in front of a door, fishing keys from his pocket to unlock the door, motioning for you to walk in first, which you did.
As soon as you were through the door of his bedroom, you felt yourself propelled against the wall, knife pressed dangerously close to jugular vein. Your lips grew into a smirk as you watched Agent Whiskey, face looking like the cat who got the cream.
“Put the knife away,” You spoke, dropping the vague European accent you’d been putting on all night in favour of your actual British one, “Agent Whiskey.”
Confusion flashed across his features, knife still pressed into your neck, his body still dangerously close to yours, “Agent Lancelot, Kingsman.”
Dropping the knife from your neck, you couldn’t help but stifle at laugh at his expression, now one like a child who had opened their last Christmas present expecting it to be the thing they’d asked for all along, to find it was just a pair of socks. Defeat.
“See, this is why women make the best agents,” You mused, walking into his room, nicer than yours, you’d have to have a word back a base, “Because we don’t think with our cocks.”
The silence was palpable but a welcome change from his constant chatting downstairs. He was handsome, but that southern drawl was grating after a while, “What about the real Irina?” He asked, referring to the real reason you’d both been there. A Russian agent with an alleged briefcase full of documents your government’s both wanted.
“Oh you don’t have to worry,” You smirked, turning to look at him, “I put enough drugs in her drink before you’d even arrived that she’ll be out until tomorrow morning at least.”
He stood in the middle of the room with his hands on his hips looking completely lost, “So what now?”
You let out a hearty laugh, “I think you should take my clothes off.”
His eyes widened in shock, which earned a shrug from you, “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Whiskey stated.
“You almost slit my throat; I think you owe me an apology.”
You faced him, eyes staring straight into his own as you reached behind you to unzip your dress. You pulled the shoulders down just enough for it to fall from your body before side stepping out of it, leaving you in just your underwear. You sit yourself down on the chaise in front of the window, spreading your legs obscenely wide, “You’ve gone awfully quiet on me Agent, come on.”
He takes off his hat, placing it carefully on the desk before he drops to his knees in front of you, hooking your thighs over his shoulder. You could feel his breath on the lace covering your pussy and you couldn’t deny it was driving you mad. He pressed an open mouth to your thigh, switching between chaste kisses and running his tongue along the skin of your thighs.
“Can’t believe I’m about you eat your pussy before I’ve even kissed you.” He mused, moving the lace of your panties to bare you pussy to his mouth.
He was teasing you. Mouth placed just out of reach so you could feel his breath on your pussy, even when you moved your hips to try and find what you wanted, it wasn’t enough, his big hands holding your hips steady, exactly where he wanted you.
“You’re meant to be apologizing,” You breathed out, “Not teasing.”
“You brought this on yourself,” He spoke, looking up at you, “You knew exactly what you were doing out there.”
“Just shut up and eat me out, Agent.”
Your hand flew to tangle in his hair, dragging it towards your pussy whilst moving your hips up. Both movements together had his mouth bumping against your sex. His hands gripped at your hips, pulling your ass off the chaise, tongue darting out between your folds. He pulled back, groaning at the taste of you, like you were the sweetest thing he’d ever tasted, before he dove back in, using the pad of his tongue to drag along your folds once more, stopping briefly to lick at your clit.
Moving his hands from your hips, he pulls back just enough to pull your panties off before his face is back where it was, hands spreading your pussy wide for himself. His tongue focuses in on your clit, moving slow circles over it as your hips bucked into his face, adding to the friction. He was slow and methodical with his mouth, using the tip of his tongue to draw circles over your bundle of nerves and then using the full length of his tongue to drink your wetness from your weeping core like a man who’d gone thirty days without water in the desert. The sounds of his slurping between your legs was frankly obscene, your chest was heaving from not being able to catch your breath. You needed more.
“Fuck.. please…” You begged, “Put your fingers inside me.”
Without dragging his mouth from you he did as you’d asked, slipping two fingers into your slick pussy without warning, earning a fully-fledged moan from your throat. They were thick and moving in and out of you at a languid pace as his tongue started to focus on your clit once more. The circles of the flick of his tongue and the curl of his fingers inside you hitting just where you needed had searing heat settling in your lower stomach.
“Please don’t stop.” You groaned, hand fisting in his hair, not caring how hard you were pulling.
You could feel yourself hurtling towards the edge of the cliff and you were practically aching for your release. Another few pumps of his fingers and the action of his covering your clit with his lips and sucking whilst the tip of his tongue still flicked across it had you slamming into your orgasm like a brick wall.
A wail left your mouth as your sex pressed further into his mouth. You could feel yourself clenching around his fingers as your legs shook on his shoulders, stiletto heels digging into his back as he softly licked at your clit to ride you through the aftershocks. He dropped your legs from his shoulders, making sure you were watching him as he sucked his fingers into his mouth, licking your wetness from them as he stood up.
Your chest was heaving as you tried to catch your breath, pussy clenching around nothing as Agent Whiskey shrugged out of his suit jacket and toed his boots off. His shirt was next, unbuttoned slowly enough for your insides to set fire to themselves with desire. Fuck, he was perfect under those clothes. Shirt discarded on the floor with your dress, he unbuckled his belt, dropping it to the floor with a clatter. Your eyes could see the outline of his hard cock through his trousers and your mouth practically watered at the sight.
As he unzipped his trousers, your hand flew to your clit, rubbing in tight circles, if he was putting on a show then you would do the same. You were oversensitive and the attention you were giving your clit was bordering on painful, but your fingers sped up as his trousers dropped, kicked to the side and forgotten.
“You gonna make yourself cum for me?” He asked, palming his cock through his briefs.
“Do you want me to?” You asked, voice coming out almost as a cry.
“I’d like nothing more.”
Thumbs hooked into his briefs, and they too were discarded, revealing the most gorgeous man you’d ever laid eyes on naked. He took his cock in his fist and ran his hand up and down his length as your fingers brought you to your second orgasm of the night, the walls of your pussy fluttering around nothing as you worked yourself through the release you’d given yourself.
“Looks like that pretty pussy is crying out to be filled.” His words were filthy, but you couldn’t deny he was right.
“Judging by how hard you are, I’d say your crying out for somewhere to put that, maybe we could help each other?” You winked, standing on shaky legs to walk the few steps towards him.
Hand placed on his chest, you pushed him back until his knees hit the bed, forcing him to sit down, his hands still fisting his cock. You pushed him by his shoulder, Agent Whiskey taking the hint, shifting so he was led on the bed. You wasted no time in crawling on top of him, grabbing both his wrists to pin them by his head as your wet sex rubbed against his cock.
You let go of his wrists to reach behind you and undo your bra before they move to grip them once more, pinning him to the bed. You shifted your hips just enough that his cock was nudging at your slick heat, his hips bucking slightly with a delicious moan falling from his lips. If you hadn’t been so desperate for him to fill you then you would have spent more time teasing him, but you slowly sank your wet pussy down onto him.
The two of you let out a salacious moan as he bottomed out inside of you. You took a few brief seconds to get used to the stretch of his cock inside of you before you moved your hips, dragging your pussy off his cock before slamming back down onto it. Your body was pressed flush to his and you dipped your lips to his neck, pressing a kiss to his pulse, leaving behind a perfect lipstick mark.
“Fuck, you feel perfect around me.” He choked out, “But baby, you gotta move.”
You let go of his wrists, using your hands on his chest to push you upright. His hands flew to your hips automatically, using them to drag your hips in a back-and-forth motion that had him hitting parts of you that you weren’t aware even existed. Moans were tumbling from both your mouths, mixing with the sound of his skin slapping against yours as he fucked into you from below. You grabbed one of his hands and dragged it between you.
“One more,” You begged, “One more and you’re forgiven for almost killing me.”
“Greedy little minx.” He replied, but obliged, using the pad of his thumb to rub those delicious circles on your clit.
You could feel your pussy tightening around his length as it pushed into you, the fire in your belly telling you the inevitable was coming. The third orgasm blinded you. White spots clouded your vision as you practically screamed into the room, hands squeezing at whatever part of his body you could reach, no doubt your nails were leaving half-moon shapes on his skin.
“Fucking hell baby,” He moaned as he continued his bruising thrusts into you, “That was perfection.”
You could tell he was also close, his hips stuttering and his moans falling from his mouth quicker each time. He went to open his mouth, but you put a finger against them to silence him, “Inside me.” You answered for him.
He was all but done then. A few more snaps of his hips and he was stilled inside you, you could feel the hot ropes of cum coating your pussy from the inside as he let out a low groan. You both took a moment to catch your breath before you pulled yourself off him, his cum working its way out of your pussy and down the inside of your thigh.
You sauntered to the bathroom, feeling his eyes on your ass as you did, to clean yourself up. When you looked in the mirror your lipstick was smudged, and your hair had that perfect ‘just fucked’ looked to it that had you smirking to yourself.
Agent Whiskey was already dressing himself when you emerged from the bathroom, so you followed suit, slipping your underwear back on. You pulled your dress on, touching his arm gently before turning around. His hands gently worked the zipper back up, a kiss pressed to the back of your neck.
“I suppose we should go and get that briefcase.” He mumbled into your ear.
“Hmmm?” You asked, turning around but taking short steps backwards towards the door.
“Irina’s briefcase, with all the intelligence in it?”
“Oh, yes,” You nodded in understanding, “You don’t have to worry, I took it whilst I was putting her to bed earlier,” A smirk fell across your lips as his expression changed once more. Fury at being bested, “We’ll be in touch.”
With a slam of the door, you were gone. By the time Agent Whiskey had realized what you’d meant and yanked open the door to follow you, it was too late. The hallway was empty. He was in for a storm of shit when he got back, bested not only by a woman but from the agency they always seemed to be one step behind. Fuck.

One thing that bugs me about after school special is that the dude they casted for "teen" Dean is literally a decade older than young Sam. He was closer in age to Jensen than to Colin. Normally I wouldn’t gaf (none of the younger Dean actors ever hit the mark for me so it is what it is), but combined with the episode’s complete lack of empathy for his situation as a parentified child, it feels more insidious. It frames him as way older than he really is, and in a way normalizes his parentification. If they had casted an actual 16 year old, their dynamic would look a lot more honest to what it truly was.
You know I'm don't think I've even fully worked out my frustrations about After School Special yet. I had to stop thinking about it last night because it was 3AM and I had to go to bed (also for more context, see posts I reblogged from Leyla last night jshdbfjhsbdfh).
This episode is just so... messy. It tries to say too many things, it says some absolutely stupid things and some okay things, and in other places, the narrative isn't clear (or maybe Dabb and Loflin are at war with one another on the subject of Dean—who knows). I find some of my frustrations and why I have those frustrations... difficult to explain in words.
That is a good point about the casting of Brock. Mind you—I have nothing against the actor here. I actually have always thought Brock did a great job copying Dean's mannerisms and way of speaking (I assume Jensen worked with him during the episode) and I think he does his best with what he's given and the role he's expected to play. The writing itself isn't his fault, of course.
From a height perspective, they wanted to intentionally contrast Dean with Sam all episode, who's being mocked by Dirk (who's paralleled with Dean and is literally our only window into sympathy toward parentified children which... isn't much at all) for being shorter than him, and I think that's part of why they chose someone much older and taller than Collin Ford.
I also don't think we're necessarily meant to dismiss the knowledge that Sam is much taller than Dean as an adult, but the thing is, if they wanted me to buy into the idea that everyone in After School Special is a bully (except maybe Barry), they did a terrible job. Sam hardly comes off as a bully—all he does is defend himself from someone who used their pain as an excuse to make his and other people's lives miserable (we get better evidence of bully!sam in their previous episode—"Yellow Fever"—actually). Is that what Dabb and/or Loflin think of Dean? That he's made Sam miserable? How? By *looks at notes* not obeying his every whim and following him around like an obedient dog, or perhaps by being dead? Hm. Except Dean doesn't even make Sam miserable in this episode (unless making jokes Sam doesn't find funny counts). Sam even picked the case they're on—Dean doesn't actually really want to go to their old school. Young Dean is reiterating that he'll look out for young Sam the entire episode.
I do think people are right when they say Dean's height (and much older appearance) are meant to reflect how Sam perceived him (After School Special is nearly fully from Sam's POV—Dean is more of a plot device than anything). Young Dean is immediately popular in school. He's handsome and makes the other kids his age laugh from the moment he enters the classroom. He immediately catches the eye of popular girls, and Barry and Sam have an exchange about it.
BARRY That's your brother with Amanda Heckerling? He's cool. YOUNG SAM Yeah. He thinks so.
Sam's paper about their werewolf hunt is, by the teacher's recounting, one where Dean shines the brightest—not Sam. He's the first thing that catches Wyatt's attention. What catches his attention second is John dragging them everywhere. Sam doesn't really factor in at all.
MR. WYATT I'm not flunking you. I'm giving you an "A." Now, aside from the werewolf, is that really how you'd describe your family? YOUNG SAM Yeah. MR. WYATT Well, your brother is quite a character. And your father -- he seems, uh, driven.
This also isn't a bad nugget about Sam, in an episode that comes right after 4.12 which is also to an extent about the desire for fame and attention and the old school versus the new school (where Sam represents the hot, new, popular magic that embraces demonic forces and is pushing out the old ways of doing things). I said 4.13 is also about envy—many of the murders are driven by projections on others. Dirk perceived Sam and Dean as "Jocks... you popular kids... you always thought you were better than everybody else." When that wasn't them at all. I've said that Sam is jealous of Dean (his bravery in combat despite zero powers, in previous seasons—his intelligence and way with people, his title as "the righteous man" while Sam is "the boy with the demon blood"). Dirk was projecting his resentments onto people they didn't apply to as a function of resentment and jealousy from the superiority he himself ultimately perceived them to possess, and that's much more reminiscent of Sam this season (we're about to see him project his insecurities on Dean and become the Big Bad Bully in the next episode—4.14):
OK, fine. You know why I didn't tell you about Ruby, and how we're hunting down Lilith? Because you're too weak to go after her, Dean. You're holding me back. I'm a better hunter than you are. Stronger, smarter. I can take out demons you're too scared to go near. [...] You're too busy sitting around feeling sorry for yourself. Whining about all the souls you tortured in hell. Boo hoo.
For Sam, After School Special isn't a terrible episode. It's just that it almost fully treats Dean as a cartoonish plot device and the neckbeard-type loathing for him almost seeps off the page even with all the nods to performing Dean you could ever want. In After School Special, Dean seems more unlike himself than any episode ever in the history of Supernatural up to this point. I do actually kind of think Dabb took one look at Dean when he came in in season 4 and decided he's a bully because he's popular based on nothing—however much he pretends he's only saying something else... and honestly I don't think he ever really got over it.

SIDE STORY#1
SHENANIGANS #2
Tumblr media
you rolled around with a groan on the grass, the sun hitting you at full force yet it didn't bother nor burn you and you were grateful.
what bothered you was the fact that you were bored.
that and you did not have internet connection.
when you first woke up, you had your phone with you and it was working just fine but when you realised that you were indeed in genshin impact as soon as you settled in sumeru and reality hit you like a chancla being thrown at you by your mother's hand, you realised that you didn't have your charger with you.
simply your phone in your pocket and your wallet but you doubt that the currency you used back home would come in handy in teyvat.
from where you were seated, by the south entrance of sumeru city on the grass, the blonde traveler, whose floating companion was not with her, watched you with an amused expression, "what is it, [name]?"
you lifted your head and looked at her, grass adorning your dishevelled hair.
oh! and you were pouting.
cute.
"I'm bored..."
lumine sighed, sympathising with you.
the first time she found herself in teyvat, she realised that she could get bored easily without what she used to do to get rid of boredom on the previous planet she was staying on with her twin.
so to get rid of boredom once in teyvat, the traveler from afar explored the region you would have just unlocked in the game and explored with her, again, as much as she could when you were taking a break from having to help her with the archons' requests for help with their nations.
"hmm... do you want to explore?"
you perked up at her suggestion and quickly scrambled to sit back on your legs, eyes wide, same for the grin on your face.
"yes! I want to visit Inazuma."
"weren't you the one that kept on muttering how much you hated Inazuma?"
you gasped loudly, earning the curious stares of sumeru city's passer-bys, "yes! simply cause the thunder kept hitting you! that and the enemies are a pain in the ass."
the first sage of buer couldn't help but agree with your words before adding, "undercover, though."
you nod once in response, grinning from ear-to-eat.
"then–"
"you are not going anywhere," wanderer's voice sounded out as he made his way over to the two of you, coming out of the city.
you pout at him, visibly deflating and, knowing that it was futile to try and convince the puppet, the traveler wrapped an arm around your waist, saying how visiting inazuma would be for next time.
when it's safer.
the ex-fatui harbinger watched you two before sighing and pitching the bridge of his nose then looked back at you two as he crossed his arms over his chest, "not unless you bring me with you."
he hoped buer would forgive him for that.
he also hoped that he wouldn't regret his decision. though after seeing how you looked at him in both admiration and gratefulness, a part of him knew that he wouldn't.
a tug could be felt in his chest, where his heart should have been, has he not been a puppet but a human.
unbeknownst to him, irminsul already delivered their next itinerary to the archon of wisdom.
and the little god simply smiled gently.

I just read a post I would have liked to reblog for some points, but not for others — so I think I'll just muse about it in my own post.
The post was about the dichotomy of TME and TMA — terms I at first accepted without thought and then began to criticize and eventually grew annoyed with, then saw them as a straight up red flag because of how big the center circle of the Venn diagram seems to be between people who use those terms regularly online and people who use them to disparage trans people who were assigned female at birth. The crossover with people who use insults like "theyfab" seemed to be pretty big too. And it's inaccurate of course; you can't say anyone is transmisogyny exempt based on an innate aspect of their identity. And people who use TME as an insult (seemingly anyone who used it at all) seem to all be hateful about transmascs having terms like transandrophobia to describe their experiences.
But the post that made me muse right now started out saying that yes, it's not precise, it's not fully accurate, but there's something experienced in perpetuity by transfemmes, assigned male at birth, that isn't experienced by anyone who can convincingly assert that they're not trans women — and TMA is trying to reach for that, and transmisogynists wouldn't grant us any language to describe our experiences.
I've been wrong a lot about fundamental things, and realizing where I've been wrong tends to start with a feeling that there's something I'm trying to reject, because it's uncomfortable to me or violates my previous worldview. Learning I was trans, learning about plurality, the process of noticing transandrophobia within the trans community... and long before that, when I lost the faith I'd been raised in and came to recognize it as highly damaging. It's deeply unpleasant for these shifts to happen.
I've been getting a feeling like that lately, but I wasn't sure where it was placed exactly. Each time I notice a problem with my worldview, I get more cautious about what possible new problems could crop up. It makes things, well, more uncomfortable.
Anyway, this one post I'm mulling over phrased things in a way that made me start looking more closely at what it is I've been avoiding. Because my mistrust of people who talk about TMAs and TMEs came alongside a rising pride and solidarity in transmasculinity, and a frustration with people who deny the trans community language by calling us "transandrophobia truthers" and other closed-minded, bigoted nonsense. (It's so fucking frustrating.) So... I haven't been looking for discussions about the terms TMA/TME outside of the hateful context it was showing up for me in.
And this post I'm mulling over mentioned requiring language to talk about experiences, and that clicked. It clicked with me that, while there are a whole lot of people playing boys v girls 2.0 in all this, there's an underlying need to be able to discuss the unique experiences that come with every aspect of who and what we are — and we're trying to categorize, categorize, categorize.
Part of what made me decide not to engage with the post that made me start talking about this is that the OP brought up the idea of transfeminine people who were assigned female at birth... and how that's, to them, a ridiculous idea. The thing is, it's not, and accepting that is part of not overcategorizing. It's an unusual thing, but it's real, and it can mean different things. You can't restrict the type of people who can exist.
But it's true that there are experiences specific to one's assigned gender (like AMAB) and to one's physiological reality associated with it that, in an intersection with a specific or adjacent actual gender (like trans woman, transfeminine, or transneutral with perceived femininity), are important to recognize as, for the most part, unique.
My ability to be specific here breaks down, though, because I know from reading the words of certain intersex people that a lot of the intersection of transfeminine and perisex AMAB isn't actually unique unless you ignore intersex people. I don't think I can say more than that. I don't think I can get nuanced enough.
But I can use an "opposite" example to try to draw a parallel. Because there is an AFAB trans experience that isn't shared by perisex trans people who were assigned male at birth: the risk of pregnancy, and specifically restrictions on bodies with uteruses. That's a difference that TERFs like to prey on to drive a wedge in the trans community. They like to convince us that they're the only ones who care about that part of our lived experiences. That is wrong. And we shouldn't let that difference divide us.
In the same vein, we shouldn't let that difference being something that could divide us turn the topic into one that trans people who have uteruses need to sacrifice in order to stand together with trans people who don't. I think that's contributed to transmasculine erasure. The assertion that it must be so would fall under the umbrella of transandrophobia, a much needed term for the sake of discussing that.
Now back to transmisogyny affected/exempt. An argument I've often shared and agreed with and been fervent about is that it's just recreating the AFAB/AMAB binary. And I have seen people argue that no it's not, it's different, but in recognizing how often it's used that way by bad actors, I decided to ignore that argument. I'd say it doesn't matter; it may as well be that.
I think I've been wrong. And I've known I was wrong, in the back of my mind, for a while. My initial acceptance of the TMA/TME dichotomy had me making that same argument, so it felt like something I had moved beyond. Now I'm letting myself look at it more closely, I'm coming to a less accepting-it-on-faith understanding of the argument.
I'm also forming a new way of explaining my own experiences as a genderfluid person. Hopefully doing so will help to articulate what I'm thinking;
I am, currently, TME. Not in the literal sense that I don't experience transmisogyny at all, but in the sense of, "I have a body that allows me to avoid and avert transmisogyny directed explicitly at my person." I'm affected by transmisogyny in a lot of ways I've been working through for some time now, and it's for that reason that I still await better terms for this concept—but using these terms as I believe good faith actors do, while I'm not exempt from transmisogyny in general, I am TME.
But I won't always be.
I am a genderfluid person who was assigned female at birth. I started testosterone a few years back, and then I stopped because I wasn't sure how far I wanted to take it. I've been coming to terms with the fact that I need to go further and I may have to be on HRT indefinably to be able to be my full, real self... but I'm still also a woman. And it will cause me dysphoria if I can't present as a woman at times when my body has been fully affected by testosterone.
I don't know if I'll be able to be stealth in any direction. I will be affected by transmisogyny in a way I'm not right now. The difference between how I'm affected by transmisogyny now and how I will be then can, at the moment, be communicated with "I'm TME now, but I'll be TMA when I transition."
And that terrifies me, honestly. I had recognized that terror as being me internalizing transmisogyny, but not as me being afraid of it. I know I'll be more comfortable with myself, but...
The forms of transmisogyny experienced specifically by people who are perpetually perceived as male (or "supposed to be male") while presenting as female are more scary than what I experience now.
And that is worth being able to talk about.
And that is worth having a term for.
And I suppose "TME" and "TMA" are the terms people are using right now, at least online. Imprecise language is something we have to work around sometimes.
I do hope that the discussion can evolve language that doesn't so easily allow bad actors to use otherwise potentially useful terms as a weapon of lateral bigotry.
And, in general, I hope the discussion can move in a direction that discourages that more by rejecting separation of trans people into boxes based on AGAB without erasing experiences that come with AGAB. Categories are good and useful to a point — but not as boxes so much as colors we're painted with. You can't split people into groups based on any one category they're colored with without forcing some people within those groups to de-prioritize something else they are.
...
This feels like it could be a draft for a real good blog post, but I know I won't post it if I wait and try to rewrite things later, so it'll have to be the finished thing.
It's been a while since I tried to add to the conversation like this. Gonna turn my anons off in case of problems. I am OUT of spoons and won't be able to respond to any opinion about this, but feel free to say things anyway if you're nice.
