I was really counting on that adoption magic to prevail this week, but I’m an overly optimistic person.
I was able to see four of my puppies into the arms of their new families.

Today I wished Bon Voyage and good luck to Pixie the Whippet who went on to her forever home with her forever family. She’d been with me for just over a month after Jeanie died unexpectedly. In that time she learnt her name, conquered her fear of doorways and the stairs and just about got toilet trained. We learned how to play fetch together, had some lovely woodland walks and snuggled on the sofa watching TV. I will confess I shed a tear coming home to an empty house that has always been filled with the sound of dog friends. Chihuahua rescue! Frankie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Shelter staff noticed right away that Frankie seemed to have limited vision. It’s not clear why she can’t see, but she does bump into things when walking around, and she feels much safer in a human’s arms than on the ground. Frankie is certainly a sweet and snuggly girl. We were happy to get Frankie out of the shelter when a foster home opened up. She’ll have a vet visit soon for a health check, spay, and to hopefully get some answers on her vision issue. If there is no solid diagnosis, that’s okay! We will love and care for her either way. Frankie is now settling in at her foster home, and doing great so far. Welcome to Ladybird, Frankie! A break from the crochet content to show you some doggos! If you’ve seen my stories, you’ve seen that we are now fostering this sweet gray girl from @weim_rescue_tx ! You all know Indy, the ‘blue’ weimaraner on the right, but on the left is a gray weimaraner named Stormy! This is a perfect example of the two colors of weimaraners! Gray is more common for the breed. Stormy is a 9 year old girl with a handful of really large skin tags, lumps and bumps, and is REALLY dirty. She came from a local surrender and both adults in the home were deaf! So, her fun party trick is that she knows the ASL sign for ‘sit’. I don’t think she knows her name verbally. I tried a couple variations of ASL signs for storm but she didn’t seem to change her demeanor. My husband is petitioning to call her Cowgirl - so that might fit her a little better. We’ve had her two days so far, and she’s made HUGE leaps! From hiding in the corner to now going on walks and being the “typical weim”. She is adamant about trying to get on the couch, definitely wants to check out your kitchen counters, and is an excellent potty supervisor - she sits on your feet so you won’t fall into the potty. I can’t wait to learn more about her. Small Dog Puppies and Big Dog Puppies
Oh my gosh, small dog puppies are SO much easier than big dog puppies. At least in large quantities.
Clean up takes a fraction of the time and the correlating stink is also much lighter!
Maybe the best part is that I can hold three of four of them on my lap at a time (which still leaves two yelling for my attentions).
And talk about cuteness – why are small things so much cuter than large…
