Dinner in our house is a time consuming endeavor. Murphy takes longer and longer to eat. Tonight, I thought it would be good to start him eating early. Like 4:30 early. Guys. He ate for like an hour and a half. Now, he isn’t like gorging himself, he gets a plate of food that is well portioned, but it takes home FOREVER to eat that plate of food. Mostly he spends the time just dilly dallying or just not eating. And he usually wastes time right up until bedtime. Some nights it’s a fight, some nights he’s just being silly and some nights he refuses. Tonight was okay. He wasn’t being argumentative or fighting, he was just wasting the time. So while he was eating I fed and bathed Kinsley, changed her into pajamas, started a load of dishes (so much silverware...) and a few other things. While I was doing stuff, I had some music playing. I was listening to that song from A Star is Born, the Lady Gaga one... the one she sings after he dies. Anyway.

A couple things you should know about the Murph-man.

1. He has a very childlike concept of time, actually that just the nice way of saying he has NO concept of time.

2. He sometimes confuses what will happen in the future.

Okay. So listening and singing Lady Gaga

(Murphy asks constantly what Kinsley’s voice will sound like when she grows up. He’s kind of obsessed with it. Also when he says girl, it sounds like he’s saying girdle. So read it that way if you’d like. It is funnier)

Murphy: Karin, I wonder if Kinsley’s voice will sound like this girl’s (referring to Lady Gaga, of course) when she (Kinsley) grows up to be a little boy.

Me: Kinsley will still be a little girl when she grows up. She will always be a little girl. But yeah, she might sound like (Lady Gaga).

Murphy: She will be a girl still when she grows up?

Me: yep. She’s always gonna be a girl.

Murphy: oh good. I like girls.

And then he kept kinda not eating dinner but sitting at the table until bedtime. And that’s dinner most nights at our house. Just in case you had a burning desire to know...
