i've been talking abt my voltron playlists and @iveofficiallygonemad asked to hear them and i want to share with anybody who wants!! i know they're not perfect, i'm working on them & trying to make them better. if you have any recommendations for any of them, let me know!! there's like A Lot and i want to give a lil explanation for most of them, so i'm putting them under the cut ^-^

SO first i have my favorite one <3 it's just. all of them. it's the whole team. it's a mess and it's a bunch of different genres because it's them fighting over the aux cord on a road trip. it's them trying to make each other laugh or annoy each other or play something catchy enough it will infect everyone in the vicinity with brain worms.

Hunk: i'm pretty happy with my Hunk playlist! chill vibes. he strikes me as the kind of guy who listens to calm music to try to find his own calm, and that's what i got here :)

Pidge: this is messier and less cohesive than my usual playlist because frankly i think pidge would have a shit taste in music. all over the board. this is a mix of meme songs and 8-bit covers and vocaloid and stuff that i think pidge would genuinely connect with, and i think pidge listens to all their music on shuffle without any regards for genre or mood because they're a gremlin. nobody gives pidge sole control of the aux.

Coran hears 80's music for the first time and loses his mind. He thinks ABBA is humanity's single greatest achievement.

Lance: i have ideas about where I'm going with this but haven't really settled yet. Lance seems like the kind of boy that loves to dance (is that canon? i forgot) so most of these are Bops That Make You Move in some way or another. he likes to present an upbeat face to the world, so there's no angsting in this playlist! we are clinging to the things that make us happy with both hands until our knuckles turn white!

Keith: i'm gonna be honest. i made him a playlist but i honestly don't think he cares about music very much. it's very important to some people! he's just not one of them! i haven't cracked this playlist open in a while but i'm pretty sure it's full of songs that i think he would conceivably train/work out to.

Shiro: this playlist involves the dumbest headcanon i have for shiro that has just not left me alone since i first thought of it. most of the playlist reflects the fact that he had an emo phase in middle school (that one isn't a headcanon, you just have to look at him to know) but BUT there are a few songs on here that are on here because. little known fact. he also went through a Twilight phase that he told nobody about. (keith knows. keith was there.) he has the entire twilight soundtrack memorized. he moved past the story but the music stays forever. he used to daydream about slow dancing to Flightless Bird, American Mouth. the first time Coran mentions that they have to avoid a place because there's a supermassive black hole there, he has to bite his tongue in order to keep a straight face. do NOT ask me why i believe this so wholeheartedly.

Allura's playlist sucks right now. I think it's because in my heart of hearts i know that, were she on earth today, she would go fucking nuts for taylor swift. i have ambivalent feelings for taylor swift. i cannot do allura justice like this. if you see my vision and have recs as to what might actually fit her, PLEASE.

Klance: i haven't done it yet but i'm gonna go through this and sort it to be a sort of progression of their relationship, starting with the more combative Rivalry songs, then slipping into "oh shit oh shit" songs, then maybe ending on the more lighthearted purely romantic songs <3

(i have two songs in a shallura playlist which does not at all encapsulate how much i'm obsessed with them. the tiny cop inside my head is just constantly screaming at me that i'm going to get yelled at for liking shallura. i am going to kill the cop inside my head.)

What do you think about niffty?

Well, unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to say. While I do watch Hazbin Hotel it's not a hyperfixation of mine so I'm not fully attached to any of the characters (of course, time will only tell if this changes or how invested I become). With this in mind, I rewatched the pilot in preparation for answering this (since it's been a while).

My verdict? Like most of the cast, I find her to be an interesting character. While the pilot revealed all of these characters at their base, the show itself I feel rounded out some of this characters a bit more aside from the first lines/base traits we'd seen from them. Niffty is no exception.

While it has been a while since I watched the pilot the first time, I feel that I probably considered her a bit of an annoyance back then. Now though... Like I said, I find her interesting and even funny at times. She seems to have unconventional ideas of ethics (by societal standards). She sort of does and says what she feels like in the way she feels like doing it, but she is someone who I feel is loyal to those she considers friends. If she feels like stealing, she will. If she feels like getting rid of vermin by stabbing them, then she does just that. In the pilot too she kind of just says the first things that come to her head without thinking about the impact of what she's saying (or perhaps not caring)? Of course, I'd be remiss not to mention that it's unfair to completely quantify her character based upon actions taken while she's drunk. So while she seems to be a bit filterless, I think in reality she does think before she acts more than one would expect, and I think that the fact she has less of a filter/inhibitions when she's drunk shows this. I don't get the impression that any of the other characters have to follow her around and "babysit" her when she's sober.

This is all to say that while she can come off as a bit simple at first, I feel like after watching 6 episodes I can say that her character has become a bit more fleshed out, and that I don't believe her character is unrealistic. I also think we're shown bits more about her just through small things (for example, how she reacts when filmed). It makes one sort of...thirst for more, in the sense that I think I would be interested in seeing more about her backstory and how she ended up owing Alastor a favor.

Also I like how she's cute but kinda bloodthirsty. Fun combo always.

It's hard to believe my mom's been gone for almost 2 years now. Like, I had acted as her primary caregiver since 2017 until '21, so it's not like I didn't know what was going to happen. But I still think you can only prepare yourself so much, I guess.

IDK, it's just her birthday wasn't too long ago, and I've had a lot of spare time to sit and ruminate lately.

Seriously guys, whoever's reading this and needs to see it: Don't. Don't fucking smoke. For the love of fucking GOD and every single one of your loved ones, do NOT smoke. You have no idea what you could be putting your family through, let alone YOURSELF once you start losing yourself to full-on COPD.

And I don't say that figuratively. It's not just wheezing, or shortness of breath. It's not that whole "emphysema is like breathing thru a straw" thing. It's not just Asthma But More. The chronic hypoxemia and WILL cause brain damage - you will start to lose your memory, you WILL slowly lose yourself, and so will anyone else that cares for you. And yet, you'll stay completely aware of what's happening well after it's too late to turn around.

I watched her die for years. I was holding her fucking hand when she took her last god damned, struggling breath. I can't think of a worse way to do die.

You'll stop caring about anything other than surviving. And the sad part? You will NOT survive. COPD is terminal, no if ands or buts. And if you're banking on it? Goooood fucking luck trying to get approved for a lung transplant as a smoker, cause you're gonna need it.

I don't even WANT to get into the details - but let's just say it takes a good amount of therapy to even be able to deal with it firsthand.

Like, I know this probably won't change any minds, gods know it didn't get me to kick the habit until she'd passed. I get it, it's how addiction works. It's not some "well just quit then" bullshit. And I'll be real with you - you'll probably still have occasional cravings for years afterward. But just maybe I can be that last straw for someone out there who actually wants to try.

Because fuck man, it's worth it. If not for you, your loved ones. It's so fucking worth it. Even if you don't give a shit about yourself, think about those you care for. Please.

#'fandom rant' anon #yes feel free to always come to me if you want to rant <3 i get it lol #and yeah i've definitely noticed that to- i love people not blindly following their faves and having a healthy level of criticism #because that's super important! hero worship is never good! #but yeah then you get some people who fall back on that when they legitimately don't seem to like them or one of them anymore #and it begs the question why they're still here if they're disappointed by everything they do #not in a 'how dare you be disappointed in my fave way!!!!!' (because i don't care) but in the way that they don't seem happy to be here #i do think it's complex because people have complicated relationships with these kinds of things- like they used to bring you joy but now #they don't and it's hard to give something up #but there's some people i genuinely think would be happier if they took a step back so they could realize whether this fandom is genuinely #something that makes them happy or not #and then proceed from there #because they just seem to be angrier and angrier or sadder and sadder as they move through the fandom #and even though we deal with some heavier topics in this fandom- it is still a fandom and the purpose should be having fun #and yesss about what you said about expectations #i really dislike the catastrophizing that happens in fandom so often #like i understand trying to brace yourself for the worst but when you're constantly spreading the worst case scenario #it's just.... needlessly miserable. especially when the worst case scenario doesn't happen the majority of the time so you end up with so #many people anxious or disappointed about something that hasn't even happened yet lmao #and like you said- it doesn't end up being a 'bracing yourself' situation when people are just as angry and disappointed when it does happen #and also 100% about people getting mad at others for not being angry enough or sad enough- that is entirely unfair and more of #a 'misery loves company' than anything because this is a FANDOM. you should want people to have fun! you shouldn't want them to be stressed #and anxious constantly over celebrity's lives. we have enough anxiety about our own lives lmao #sorry this is making your fandom experience worse than it needs to be :/ it is hard to avoid sometimes #hopefully you find people to follow that make you more happy than sad or anxious #ily!! #asks #anonymous

something about Dracula Daily that can’t leave my mind this year is how much i remember when it started last year, there were so many people saying stuff like “you all are getting into it right now while it’s new and everything and you’re making it trending, but you’ll see everyone is going to drop it eventually, none of you have this commitment for so many months”

and while people did drop out, obviously, the activity of this little “book club”, of the people who didn’t drop out, still made it trend up until the very end, there were enough people who were still motivated enough to read this book in this format that it carried on all the way to November

and now it’s starting again. now people who were sad they didn’t jump on the bandwagon last year AND people who loved the ride so much last year they’re participating again (and it being kept spicy thanks to the Re:Dracula podcast) are STILL participating to this tumblr bookclub enough to make it trend.

There were so many messages about how “you’ll see you’ll get tired of it so quickly”, and yet people made it a yearly commitment

#it's the only one of those bookclub that people constantly talked about and kept trending #and i'm at fault too like i subscribed to so many classics that way but only read the Dracula one #mostly bc apparently this is all the energy i have and i was invested enough #(+ the discussions and memes made that going through the tags were always fun so i wanted to stay up to date) #i have so many classics by emails in my emails and maybe one day i'll read them that way #but in the meantime i'm just so endeared by the endurance of the Dracula format in particular #and somehow a bit smug after reading so many people say everyone is going to drop it quick #'drop it? oh you mean make it a yearly event? gotcha' #i'm doing DD via re:Dracula this year and the voice acting really makes me care so much it's unreal #idk if i'll do it fully bc it's still too fresh for me #but it does make me happy to go back into the tags #the mix of 'people's first reading who are memeing like we were memeing last year' #and 'rereaders who are all picking up all the dreads they didn't pick up at first when they were memeing' #is pretty funny ngl #anyway i don't like. actually post about it personally though i reblog some stuff from the tags once in a while #so feel free to blacklist and all #i'm just soft for weird reasons today this website can be fun at times #ichatalks

#we've had on and off plumbing issues for like 2 months now & this is why. so #no clear reason why probably just. you know age and wear. uk sewer system's old and garbage #my parent & I have had flu also which I still have a lingering cough/feel tired from #anddd we haven't been speaking to my grandparents (who we prev saw like. once a week) for about the same length as the plumbing issue #after they did something pretty selfish and thoughtless and are the type too proud to apologise/want everyone to move on #so now we're at a stalemate bc we're still hurt and it's like. even if we do move past it #I still view them differently now. you know? family disappointing you really leaves you feeling empty #I already went nc with my other parent in 2019 cause they suck and then my dog died in 2020 #just feel like I'm slowly running out of people in my immediate circle esp with pandemic limitations #and this is just like. a whole thing now on top of the existing energy crisis to worry about #also someone stole our recycling bin LMAO like I put it out for collection a few days ago and now it's just gone dk where it is #which is not that big a deal you can just order another for free but it's like. why'd you have to do that man #I want to be grateful for what I've got knowing people are living through warzones and famine rn but like #I'm very weak and things mess me up easily I won't lie #that information only makes things worse. I mean each year everything just gets worse around the world. #it's already blisteringly hot each summer I just don't feel very. hopeful about anything anymore #I've just been really depressed #I guess the good thing is not caring about anything means I don't even particularly care about venting this online lol #it's hard to feel any cringeworthiness or insecurity over anything when you're not feeling anything at all
