we recently finished the goku black arc in super, and it left us with many feelings about these two. we said to our friend who we’re watching it with “when this is done, I’m going to draw them under a blanket with a hot drink” and they were like “bet”. but hey, we did! future trunks has already been our favourite since z and mai grew on us so fast in her future version. they are both complete badasses and so dang cute. also, drawing plushie shu was very fun lmao. I want it irl.

I've seen some ships that give me nightmares. I can't believe Dragon Ball is even bothering to make one for some nobody like Mai. To get her with Trunks... is so baffling and stupid

Look, I don't have an issue with Trunks and Mai in certain contexts. Future Trunks and Future Mai, for example. That's a scenario where Mai "grew up" again independent of Trunks, and Trunks independent of her. They didn't even meet until they were both adults there. At that point? Consenting adults, nothing predatory, doesn't matter. It's trying to push her with Kid Trunks, who is growing up around her, and whom the manga even has her watching and waiting for him to grow up and "become cool" like his counterpart that it gets gross. There are just a lot of very wrong implications there. But the issue isn't really that she's "some nobody" at all, for me.I mean realistically, even if his love interest were a new character, she'd be "some nobody" until she became well-established. It's the execution that's the problem.

Unpopular opinion, I really hate The pilaf gang being kids and what they’re doing to Mai’s character.

I kinda don’t wanna see them as anything more then joke villains that never win.

Another thing idk if it’s just me or like, they’re making Mai more naggy around pilaf forgetting he’s the same dude who use to do…

Idk, I feel like they’re are already a lot of naggy females in the series that Mai ( original the stoic coward) being naggy doesn’t feel right.

And the entire romance between her and Trunks is just gross in my opinion, mai is shown to still remember things from Og dragon ball and the fact that she’s mentally older than Bulma, his mom makes it more yucky.

Also this one is just a me thing and not something I’m really not as upset about, I miss when Mai and Shu had this goofy friendship, like they were both scared of pilaf, so they just talked to each other a lot so naturally.

Look at them joking together about how they wish pilaf would treat them better, like that’s some FRIENDSHIP
