Either the ownerless place to live, the cause of this brand new incident, or simply want to unleash their provoked will.

late night ramble but ig heres my 2 cents of this poll (not directly attaching this to the poll cause im a coward LOL)
ofc, i won't put my thoughts on luci/belphe/asmo. ik we get tidbits of them through their nobles or pb's prev games but i wanna judge them based on how they actually show up in-game. i also know there's prob gonna be some luci lore later when gamigin update is out (atm its like abt 4 or so days till that update's release) but i'll just omit my thoughts on luci for now
ok now for the rest of the kings:
i should also put a disclaimer that i don't read any of the unholy board stories unless if it's mammon's, so for the other kings that aren't mammon my opinions are purely based off of main story or event appearances or how they act in comics
satan - honestly pretty ok w him. i'm kinda biased when it comes to mc being recoginized as their own person rather than purely just the descendant of solomon so i like him based on that. idk i don't have any strong opinions abt him i just see him as a very fluffy cat :3
mammon - absolutely love him. 0 flaws. wins the idgaf war. my absolute fav squeak toy. lol ok but fr tho i don't really have any complaints abt him. will spoil tf out of mc and wants to ensure their safety. also sees mc as mc and was even kinda disgusted(? idk a better word for this💀💀) by the fact that a part of solomons soul can be sensed in them, almost as if he doesnt want it to be in the way of mc. also wasnt afraid to call out the fact that sitri kept calling mc solomon. and ofc the love at first sight thing is great too but also the bodyworship (or ig faceworship bc he only just kissed mc's entire face??) before the confession like UGH... absolutely weak for that man (devil?). idk i dont rlly see that many mammon fans rlly anywhere and it saddens me hes such a good char outside of just having huge tibbies. srsly tho pb pls we get it he has huge tits you dont need to constantly bring it up the char sprite is literally right in front of us-
cant wait for the next chapter w the big lore dump abt mammon and hope we finally get a pt 2 of his h scene (hopium)
no srsly he's the only king w 1 h scene, satan and levi got 2,, WHERE IS MAMMON'S PT 2
as a side comment also i love the silly banter btwn mammon and satan like they are truly besties from the cross on their foreheads to matching skill names to the amnt of times they throw hands and still hang out and care for each other
beel - hes ok ig? i think lore-wise hes gonna be one of the more interesting ones considering how "mysterious" he is i.e. constantly wandering, almost being an absent king. like what led to the constant wandering? what did andrealphus mean when he said beel is the key to ending the war? how does his cloning work? i kinda feel bad for bael and the other nobels needing to manage everything while beels away but i don't rlly hate him for it? at least not now considering we don't rlly know the definite reason and i want to assume the best and say he has a valid reason for being absent so he could protect his region. hate is a strong word ig its more of a slight dislike towards beel, but its like this 🤏 small of a dislike im still overall neutral abt him
levi - falling into the majority from the poll i have to agree that levi is my least fav king also lol. i get where he's coming from and why he acts the way he does, i just dont like how he's written? or ig moreso how he's written in the perspective of mc. tho tbh that's more of an mc issue than a levi issue, but i got pretty tired of the story constantly reminding us how pretty levi is (similar to how we always get reminded of how big mammon is/how huge mammons tits are). idk its like a gut feeling to not like/trust him. i also just don't really vibe w him in general even before we were actually introduced to him in main story. hes a good attacker gameplay-wise tho lol
so yeah, those are my thoughts for now. ofc they could change in the future when we get more info abt all of them but we'll see

Y'know thinking about it, was there any lore reason for Emma and Noah to get a special battle stage when they entered the library? Or even really context wise?
Like, Love Town is a big boss fight, the most powerful opponents of Urban Plague, Philip developed ego, meaning he was experiencing extreme emotions which obviously affects the library, and reflects in the crying children when it's all broken down.
But Emma and Noah? They're just kinda silly guys, they're just chilling. When they make their way to the library they have a friendly little chat with Angela, from my understanding their emotions aren't really too intense in the moment.
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure in one of the realization dialogues (I've only done them recently, but my memory still isn't the best) it's said that the reason the library will sometimes change and become a reflection of the outside world is due to the strong emotions of powerful guests.
Again, before this point, Tomerry was very strong (and had been around for, like, 100's or 1000's of years), and Philip was developing ego, but Emma and Noah, while still powerful, aren't too substantial (atleast from my perspective) and they aren't exactly feeling intense emotions, but they still get a special stage/background.
Tumblr media
Apart of this may be me completely underestimating Emma and Noah, while I don't see them as much of a challenging fight, they could very well still have been intended to be a boss by project moon, and actually, the special boss music and background supports that, in a way.
But still, there's also the context of what emotions they're feeling, why the library is being affected to change it's layout? Project Moon doesn't typically just do things because it would be cool or interesting without reason in there games, especially if it would conflict with the lore. Almost anything that happens gameplay wise also has a lore reason, either big or small.
This could just be making stuff up here, but they worked with their smaller art budget with Lobotomy Corp by making it apart of the lore that you're looking through everything though a cognitive filter (I don't know this for sure though, it's just a guess about the more stylised art and generally simpler look for lobotomy corp, and the much lower budget at the time. As far as I know they could have had that planned at the start and just went with the simpler style because of the cognition filter), your resets in L corp are one of the biggest parts of the story, they won't do stuff if it doesn't make sense.
But ofcourse, that's not to say it can't make sense for Emma and Noah, or that it doesn't, it could be possible that due to the 8 o'clock circus being a distortion, and Emma and Noah being affected by the distortion, it directly affected the library, like earlier, Philip's ego affected the library, and so did the crying children. Those examples are both tied to the direct source of those ego/distortion, meaning there's a large amount of emotion connected to them, whereas Emma and Noah have just been affected by a distortion, it's still possible.
One last thing, this isn't meant to be taken too seriously. Ofcourse, it's still a serious question and thought, but it's not a criticism of the game. Instead, it's more something to think about, having fun thinking about the lore and reasons why things happen.
Along with that, I still haven't finished the game, and I could very well end up with an answer later, and even if I don't, it's not necessary. Getting upset over a small detail like this would be nitpicking, in my opinion.

For the game ask thingy.... how about 3, 6, 16, and 27?
From this game here:
3: Best game you’ve ever played?
aaaa by what criteria? For most fun gameplay wise, Monster Hunter 3u. For most fun concept, Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise. Story, Undertale. Overall enjoyment, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
6: A game that’s changed you the most?
I think this weird little playstation game called Scaler was very formative to how I feel about animals now. It's about a boy who cares a LOT about lizards and gets transported into a reptile-dominated world while also getting to take on the forms of different reptiles. It's the first game I can remember that I was obsessed over.
16: Character you’ve hated most? From what game?
I have a pretty strong dislike for Dr. Ratio from Honkai: Star Rail, but my opinion of him is changing as I realize he actually cares a little bit about people dsaljf. I also thought Emile from Halo: Reach was a bit of a dickhead but, again, warmed up to him over time.
27: Has there ever been a moment that has made you cry?
Oh, tons. I cried in FFX when Yuna danced to send the departed, when Auron sat in pain at the gate of the Farplane and in a really meta moment when Yuna was the only character I had with an ultimate weapon. She'd outgrown all of her guardians and I was so touched aslfd
I've cried three times in Honkai: Star Rail in the last week! There was a point where a lady is trying to kill herself and you have to hold onto her. She snaps back that you don't just get to play hero in this one moment and leave her to suffer later and that... That fucked me up a bit. Aventurine also has a pre-recorded message on joining that party shortly after, again, killing himself (?). Then there was Aventurine's onscreen mental breakdown! I think Focalors's death in Genshin also got some waterworks.
Also Six's death in Reach. It was a GOOD ending. Shame they only made Halo 1-4 and Reach and then just stopped. Felt like they were going somewhere.
Oh and Minecraft has made me cry as a teenager! I opened up a new survival world, thought about how I have literally more virtual world than I could possibly explore myself with nobody in it and felt so overwhelmed with loneliness that I had to close the game asldfjsdfa.

Hey, hi, hello! ❣️❣️
This is mostly just a 'I got your letter & I will reply but brain is not doing the word thing so jsyk I am not ignoring you!' note. XD
But also--this was gonna wait till I wrote the letter, but-
!!! You started playing Hades!!! I require your thoughts!! What you like, what you hate, how far you've gotten, your favorite/least favorite characters -- *everything.*
I started playing it again & I forgot how much I love the game. Artemis, Eurydice, & Demeter are definitely my faves & I still can't stand Than lol. & the art!!! It's so !!!!!! (I am nowhere near the 'completed' mark but I am so psyched for the second game already, omg)
Okay I have not slept in like 36 hours & this got long, whoops ... I'm gonna make myself go to bed now. XP
<3 <3 <3 okay good night. 😴😴
Slowly bud! Hi! Hello!
Take your time with the letter, I've also been really out of it lately, I get it.
Yep! I got it around a week ago, I think... Like a day(?) before sending you the letter. Hadn't even started it yet, so I didn't mention it.
BUT IT'S SO GOOD!
The art is great! The gameplay is fantastic. The music is godlike! I've only reached Hades (the bossfight) once, and I only have around 20 runs, so I am far from having a fully formed opinion.
Having said that... Artemis is by far my favourite. I always loved her in the myths. I wanted to join her followers, even before I realized I was trans. I love her so much in this game, and have given her the most gifts. Eurydice is my second fav as well! I always stay at her room for a few minutes, just listening to her song. Her "hair" is also amazing. Looks a bit like broccoli, I want to eat it. :P
Some of my other fav characters are Aphrodite (she's a mess), Chaos (they are cool looking), Nyx (best mom), Cerberus (best boi) and also Meg is slowly growing on me.
Most of the others I'm neutral about. (Demeter and Than fall in this category for me, like, they're cool, but I don't really care for them as strong as I do for the aforementioned (although I've only met Demeter in one run so far))
Zeus can fuck right off tho. Athena is giving me weird vibes too, which I didn't expect. Poseidon seems to be alright, which I also didn't expect, but still a bit wary of him. Hades can choke. I'd also add Theseus here, but the dude is a complete joke, so I don't take him seriously.
Weapon wise, my fav is by far the Bow, and I have already upgraded it once (the Zag, crit upgrade). I also like the Fists, although I've only done a single run with them.
Overall, one of the best games I've played. My only regret is that I didn't get it earlier. Really exited for the 2nd game as well. Melinoë (I hate, hate, hate the anglicization of her name) looks cool as hell.
Have a good sleep!

Eh fuck it, since we don't know how long Twitter is going to last, I'm going to start randomly posting my thoughts on random ass video games here. Here's all the shit I've been playing a bunch recently.
Portal Reloaded: I legit don't know if this is an official Portal dlc or just a mod, but it's free, and it's so much fun. Do you like Portal? Do you want Portal Hard Mode (TM TM TM)? Get this funky little game. It's not quite as funny as the OG, but man are the puzzles Tough.
Divinity Original Sin II: Have I played Divinity 1? No. But I am having a ton of fun with this thing. I was not expecting to enjoy myself so much, especially considering my hatred of games with the fucking hotbars, or whatever that little UI thing is at the bottom. At the very least, it's turn based and not real time so I don't find it nearly as obnoxious. I've also been A) doing Multiplayer, and B) using a mod so that I can take all 6 of the named characters with me, which unfortunately does have the tradeoff of making the game a little too easy at times. Also, since you're not suppose to be able to have all of the characters in one playthrough certain characters just straight up will not speak to each other? Which is kind of disappointing. Come on, guys, it's a 60 hour game at minimum, it doesn't have the kind of replayability you think it does.
Professor Layton and the Last Spector: Oh, so THAT'S why plvsaa is like that. I was not expecting to adore these characters as much as I thought I would, but they are just so much fun. I haven't technically been playing, since I'm watching my friend's playthough on twitch, but the puzzle difficulty range is so wild to me. Anything from "What color is the umbrella" to "do some fucking AP Geometry fucko," which I feel like I'd find a bit frustrating, though I guess the worst of it is optional.
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (Not Finished): Can't give my final opinions here, but at minimum, the 3D graphics are a huge downgrade. I hate when visual novels decide to switch to 3D graphics. It's never going to be as charming as the sprites! Story-wise, I'm still deeply invested, and theorizing to hell and back is so much fun now that I'm getting into the swing of How Layton Games Do.
Zero Escape 999: Guys. This game drove me absolutely bonkers. I'll love any murder mystery visual novel put in front of me of course, but something about this game... Admittedly, it took me a few hours to get invested. I found the amount of talking a bit exhausting, especially when SO MUCH of it was dedicated to things like "Let's walk through this whole room trying doors, talk about it, and then start trying new doors." Like I don't need to know the logistics of "we're locked in a boat." I don't need to know where everyone is at all times. But once I went through one full playthrough, and could skip a lot of those boring logistical issues, I got SO into trying to figure out what was really happening. They really did give us the exact right amount of information to start figuring out what the Actual Plot was.
Zero Escape Virtue's Last Reward (Not Finished): I'm enjoying myself so much, but somehow, everything kind of feels like a downgrade? The 3D graphics (especially the lip flaps) suck ass, and there's so much stuff that feels like it's pulled from Danganronpa. Guys, I liked Danganronpa. I liked Zero Escape because it WASN'T Danganronpa. I don't know, I've hit my first real ending, so I'm hoping that it's just still waiting to impress me, but the main conflict just feels less personal this time around.
Dragon Age: Origins: I love playing watching my roommate play this game and then letting me make all of the narrative decisions. I just. I hate the gameplay, but the story is fun as heck. There are some weird writing choices, clearly, but the characters are fun to talk to and that's all that matters. It doesn't give me as strong found family vibes as other RPGs, but I still love them anyway.
Disco Elysium: You all know my thoughts on Disco Elysium. I love you Kim. Mostly, I'm just wondering what the fate of a potential sequel is going to be. I both want it and don't, but at the end of the day, if the original creators aren't able to wrest control from that game studio, I just worry the heart isn't going to be in the next one.

aqua or terra for the ask thingy :]
YESSSSSS YEYSYYSYSEYESLEYESYESYYESYESYES THANK YOU SO MUCH PAL!!!!!
I shall do both because of course!!!!
First, Aqua:
Favorite thing about them:
I really love and appreciate how much she cares for her friends!!! All the things she's done for them and all the sacrifices she's made for them I JUST AAAAAAAAAA. I also really appreciate the fact that despite all the hardships and trauma she's faced, she keeps on going despite the roadblocks in her path, and I'm really rooting for her!
Least favorite thing about them:
Oh oof this is gonna be hard. I can't really think of anything other than I guess being a bit too overprotective????? Although at the same time, I can understand why she was like that since like I said, she cares a lot about her friends!
Three things i have in common with them:
Deeply cares for our friends and will do anything for them
We both love making gifts for others whenever possible
Super passionate for what we each love!
Three things i don’t have in common with them:
I cannot do magic like her lol (I wish though, that would be absolutely amazing and fire to do magic)
I wouldn't really be fit for a leader/master role like her
I'm not exactly a calm type of person, I'm too anxious to be calm and collected :')
Favorite line:
"Good morning, Ven."
I also love several of her battle quotes, such as "That's the way!", "That settles that!", "Here goes!"
brOTP:
I really love her dynamic with Ven! It's so sweet and I love how much they care for one another! Even if she can be overprotective at times, I can understand that, because like I mentioned, she really cares about him and cherishes their friendship!
OTP:
Terraqua :]
nOTP:
Ve/n/qu/a. I know the age gap is around two years apart, but with how their interactions are in the game, it just honestly feels real weird to me to ship them..
Random Headcanon:
She really enjoys reading! I imagine her having quite a library of books in her room (I'm thinking she'd have a bigger amount of books than Ven does in his room)
Unpopular Opinion:
Hmmmm I don't think I have an unpopular opinion for her. Other than I personally don't really mind how the Anti-Aqua plot ended up going in KH3!
Song i associate with them:
All I Know So Far by P!nk! That song honestly really reminds me of her dynamic with Kairi and how I feel their future interactions could possibly play out!
Favorite picture of them:
I can't choose between these two, so :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now Terra:
Favorite thing about them:
Like Aqua, I love how caring he is for his friends!!! I also love how passionate he is for what he wants to do in his life!! I'm really hoping he becomes a Keyblade Master in the future, along with Ven as well!!!
Least favorite thing about them:
This is moreso gameplay-wise, but I really don't like how he doesn't have any i-frames on his dodge. Makes his BBS route more of a challenge at least though, BUT LEMME JUST SAY THIS, THE TERRA-XEHANORT FINAL BOSS FIGHT IS JUST HHHHHHHHHHH
Three things i have in common with them:
As someone who's extremely gullible and has been taken advantage of before as well, I really relate to Terra's story
Dedicated to the things we're each passionate about
Like Aqua, deeply caring for our friends
Three things i don’t have in common with them:
I'm not really the type of person who works out regularly, sooo :')
I'm not real physically strong rip
I can't really think of anything else whoopsies
Favorite line:
"You never stopped lighting my way back" and "You found me, just like you promised", I JUST AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
brOTP:
I really love his interactions with Ven!!! They're so sweet and I love how he cares for Ven and goes all papa bear mode and it's super sweet how Ven really looks up to him too!
OTP:
Terraqua :]
nOTP:
T/e/r/Ve/n. Anyone who ships this or any other pedophilic ships will be blocked on sight.
Random Headcanon:
He loves cute things, like soft little plushies and stuff like that! He's nervous to admit it at first, but once Ven and Aqua find out, they're fully supportive of him and the things that make him happy!!!
Unpopular Opinion:
He's not "Riku done wrong" and his BBS route is super fun, fight me
Song i associate with them:
ANIMAL I HAVE BECOME BY THREE DAYS GRACE
Favorite picture of them:

I have a weird take that I need to get out in the world somewhere and this appears to be the best place to do so
Everyone should have their first playthrough of a Souls game be either alone or, failing that, with someone to whom that game is the best in the series.
Let me explain.
--- Disclaimer: This is all just, like, my opinion, man ---
To start this post off, there are a few things I need to get out of the way. Chief among these is that my first Souls game was Dark Souls 2, so I'm a sicko who has absolutely NO nostalgia or overfondness for Dark Souls 1. As such, people who slob all over DS1's knob are total fucking weirdos to me, because I think the game, gameplay-wise, is the absolute worst of the entire series and the lore is, like, mid at best. To a less-important extent, I have neither fought nor beaten Artorias or played the DLC for DS1. To be quite honest, I don't think that matters very much but I know some mfers will be like "BUT HE'S THE BEST THING ABOUT THE WHOLE SERIES" to which I would rebut - then that sucks. One guy in one, fairly small (considering later releases), DLC being the best thing about a series is kinda bleak isn't it? Personally, I think that DS1 is held in such a high regard because it was the higher-profile Second of its Kind, a refined version of what was started in Demons' Souls. People nut over the interconnected world thing too, which is cool but has pretty poor implementation that makes getting anywhere and doing all the backtracking you have to do REALLY tedious. Least important is that I have not, and probably am not going to, ever played Demons' Souls. I just don't have interest in it and the gameplay is probably jankier that DS1 and I already barely have patience for that.
As a side note, Dark Souls 3, despite having what I believe to be some of the better gameplay and some of my favorite weapons, areas, music, and bosses in the series, is just the worst in that it's a fanservice game for DS1 fans and almost exclusively nothing else. Yes, they tacked some DS2 stuff in there as a pity drop for DS2 truthers but it seems to just kinda pretend that DS2 doesn't exist and is just so masturbatory that I almost can't stand it.
Glad to have these off my chest. If you're ready to discount everything I have to say from here on out based on that first paragraph, then godspeed. Continuing.
In looking to take my mind off of my current situation (see older posts for context regarding my cool disease), I decided to turn to comfort vidya games, namely playing through Elden Ring again, something I haven't done in quite a while. I'm remembering how much I love it and my playthrough, which is still going strong as of this writing, is super fun. I'm taking the game much slower than any previous playthrough I've done besides the first (this one is number 5) and am just enjoying being in the Lands Between, readily awaiting the DLC for the game that will likely come out in 2024. One of the things I've always done when I'm playing a game, specifically a game that I don't really need to pay attention to story-wise or sound-wise, I have videos or music or something on in the background. I'm sure many of you do this as well.
[QUICK SIDE NOTE: One of my more nostalgic sensory memories is when I used to do this in my room, during my high school years, playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 while watching episodes of Archer in the background. I can see the evening sun coming through my windows and it was such a warm and comfortable environment that I constantly yearn for it again, even though I know I'll probably never have another moment quite like that, carefree and cozy, just doing my thing. Eh. A guy can dream though, right? END QUICK SIDE NOTE]
What I've been having on in the background as of late are the Super Best Friends Play [insert Souls game here] compilations. These playthroughs, with the exception of Bloodborne (Pat and Woolie switching off controls on death, arguably the worst way to play a Souls game) and DS3 (Pat on the sticks and overleveling to the point of ruining the playthrough lol), are in the same format - Woolie, is on the sticks and Pat backseats, providing some context and guidance throughout. initially, for the DS2 playthrough, I was very excited because Woolie's first Souls game was the same as mine! Hey! This dude is playing it in the same order that I did! However, when I watched through it the first time, ALL Pat could do was shit on DS2 and say how much better DS1 was. In subsequent videos and playthroughs, it comes through VERY clearly and notably that this tainted Woolie's view of the entire series and greatly affected the way he interacted with it. On this watch, I formulated the above opinion.
The Souls games are so fucking good that they do NOT deserve to be ruined by someone shouting in your ear about how a different one did things better. Yes, I think DS1 is the worst of the series but even at that point, it's the worst of one of the best series of games of all time, which is still incredibly good. Obviously, the ideal way to play a Souls game is to go in completely blind and do it by yourself. But if you're playing with friends or in your Discord or something or someone is coming over to watch you play (if people still do that. GOD I hope they do), someone in the room should have that Souls game be their favorite. The game gets proper hype and no sole voice in the backseat gets to say some shit about how the fight with Artorias was better or "there's too many dudes in armor" or something about how it's "SO INNOVATIVE" that Gwyn's theme is sad piano plunks instead of epic boss music (which, to be fair, it is but shut up about it already. We get it). It's crazy to me how just one person's attitude like that can poison a perception of a game. For someone playing through them for the first time (people of whom I am EXTREMELY jealous), the initial impression is everything and every person should get to have the joy of playing through them unmarred by negativity about the game they are currently playing.
I don't know if this is anything and I don't think this argument is fully fleshed-out in this post or even really coherent. Just some dumb weird thoughts I wanted to put out there on my favorite game series.

1: favorite main game
This is so hard actually. It was SoV for so long. Not because I ever thought it was the best FE. But it's the one I have the most opinions on. And Tobin is there. But I think FE6 is the whole package for me. It reignited my love for FE in a way. I think it has a good balance of gameplay, characters, and story (for me. I understand those elements are all controversial lol). SoV is close to my heart though.
5: recommendation for someone new to the series
I think about this ALL the time. I don't think there is a perfect answer. Awakening was my first and I would recommend it to most people. But Sacred Stones is my wildcard pick. I think it does a lot of classic and modern FE things very well while being easy enough to play, and if you enjoy it you'd probably enjoy most other FE games.
10: underrated character
So I am just going to use this as an excuse to talk about Isadora from FE7. She is my favorite from that game! And she didn't even get any Cipher cards. She's a paladin serving under Eliwood's mother, which is already very cool. I love when we get female paladins/cavs. But her story is, in short, that she's a well off noble girl who put off her arranged marriage because she desperately wanted to be a knight. She so badly wants to help people and be kind and just. And then in her supports (with Renault specifically) we can see how the reality of being a knight weighs on her. She had these dreams of being heroic but the reality is that in a war you will be killing people. And that really gets to me!! She was so idealistic and the war really changes her outlook but she's so strong. She could have lived a comfortable life but she's out here fighting a war. Not to mention her fiance went missing for years and his his own set of issues. That they can either work out together or not! Which is so fun. I actually never recruited him bc I wanted Karel 💀 sorry Isadora your man is now presumed dead.
(also Tobin.)
11: a character that deserved better
Erinys!!! My beloved. Her tragic end is kind of the point but it HAUNTS me. She died of an illness after being abandoned by her husband 😭😭 Erinys I wouldn't abandon you. And then her kids stories?! And their parent convos with Lewyn!! They kill me
Narrative-wise I think Celica deserved a lot more than she got in her own game. Alm was very much the focus!!
Also I think Catherine should have been recruitable in Crimson Flower and I should have been able to marry her as fem Byleth but idk if that counts for the question.
15: favorite musical tracks
This is so embarrassing because I don't know like any of the songs. I do not know very much about music. Like if I heard them I'd know. But off the top of my head the only track name I know is Twilight of the Gods. And Don't Say Her Name. That was a song right. But I do enjoy the vocal tracks we've been getting since Fates. Another win for SoV. Heritors of Arcadia makes me cry.

Review 79-06: Sky Diver (Atari 2600)
So i'm gonna do something a little different to my normal shtick- a comparison review! Sky Diver at home is, in most ways, very close to the original arcade release. I don't think this is a game that is really worth a full analysis, doubt anyone's gonna be upset about me saying that.
Here's a link to the original review, if you are so inclined.
Graphics - Was 2.5/5, improves to 3/5
The port does a good job at retaining some of the personality, even if it can't be as expressive as the original. I think it actually impresses me MORE, considering the impressive amount of frames of animation when you lose your 'chute and the extra splashes of color.
I'd say they would rate the same IF the consoles were on the same power level, but they aren't, so the 2600 wins this round.
Sound - Was 1.5/5, improves to 2.5/5
This is one of those cases where having less sound is soooorta appropiate. And the sound effects don't make my ears bleed, hurray! I feel like they picked the right noises this time. Obviously, with how few there are, it's still not gonna score exceptionally well. Like a wise man used to say, it's worth a golf clap.
Gameplay - Was 3/5, regresses to 2.5/5
The main problem I have with the game now is that the opposing plane does NOTHING if you don't have a second player ready. Certainly a way to make the game more drab and pointless.
For the rest, same gist as the original. It's all translated well despite the lesser vertical space. No SKYDIVER points to collect, instead you are looking to maximalise your score in 10 jumps. Ehhhhr I guess it's fine?
Longevity - Was 2.5/5, remains the same
Rather than chasing high scores over a longer session, this 10-jump style allows you to hunt down a max score to obtain- the Logbook requires that of you too. Gotta admit, I may not be into it, but I see some potential. The 'chicken' mode sounds like it would be a fun Mario Party minigame nowadays, in fact you could argue that Wii Party already did it with one of it's own lineup.
If you stretch the concept of replayability far and especially if you got a pal, you'll be in for a reasonable time, as with the original.
Overall
I think this home port surpasses the arcade version a teensy bit for not having to spend copious amounts of coins on a game with a very, very light appeal that wears thin sooner than a pair of skinny jeans.
That is all, really. The gameplay loop is the exact same and doesn't feel dramatically worse or better. Whether you like the changed scoring system is up to personal preference, I hold no strong opinion either way.

Alright, another notch on my game backlog has been completed!
So I'm one of those dumbass idiot bitch morons who actually pays for a Ubisoft+ subscription. I've been enjoying it, but trust me, I'm not proud of it. But why pay for such a thing? Well, during my crazy obsession with Vikings and Norse culture (it may have been a phase, but I wouldn't mind revisiting it all and learning more), I picked up Assassin's Creed Valhalla on sale to scratch that vikingr itch. Which is certainly did...but it also introduced me to Assassin's Creed in general, and I really enjoyed what I played. The exploration, the silent assassinations, and especially the parkour and climbing (I never knew I was so into that shit before then) were so much fun. Later I learned that Valhalla is this newer, RPG form of AC that's quite different from the original games. That piqued my interest, and now that Ubisoft's dumb subscription service is on Xbox, it's high time I see what the rest of the series is like, starting with...the second game?
Yeah, AC1 isn't available on Xbox via Ubisoft+. Technically I can play it on PC, but my only laptop is a potato that wants to die during a Dead Cells run, so that's not happening. Ubi's Xbox One titles are all there, though, including The Ezio Collection, which has remastered versions of all the games involving the titular, fan-favorite character. Well since he's such a damn legend who ended up with three whole games to star in, I may as well start here...and I gotta say, it's quite a strong start.
Gameplay-wise, it pretty much plays exactly like Valhalla did, if just a bit less refined (which makes sense, it's almost been 15 years since AC2 came out). Huge open world games weren't quite possible back in 2009, but having each fairly sizable map divided up like the courses in Super Mario 64 is a good compromise. Traversing the towns is kinda annoying, but you can work around it by running on the rooftops for sport, as long as those bastard archers don't ruin the fun for ya. There's also plenty of side missions and treasures to find scattered across each city, giving you plenty to do while doing sweet Italian parkour all over the joint.
One of my favorite parts of the game were the Assassin Tombs. There are parkour-heavy sections where you need to solve puzzles in order to grab the seal of a legendary assassin for a sweet prize. Valhalla made me really enjoy running and climbing on shit, and these Tomb challenges basically took what I love about that and turned it into an obstacle course of sorts. It's like parkour is part of the puzzle itself; you have to run and land in certain ways in just the right time in order to complete the challenges. I fucking LOVED these parts, so much so that I ended up getting Altair's armor way earlier than I probably should have (spoilers btw lol).
The one thing that I found kinda lame in AC2's gameplay is the actual combat. Which is fair, since this game is about assassination, meaning sneaky and silent murder. Fighting enemies head-on with swords and daggers is just an annoyance in my opinion, even though it works well for what it's trying to achieve. Normally I just end up using a smoke bomb and hidden blade combo when taking on huge piles of aggro'd enemies (which has to be a popular way to cheese the game, as it's so damn easy to do). I'm pretty sure combat was made the way it was to show that assassinations are the way to go -- as if it's in the FUCKING TITLE or something, I dunno -- which I eventually learned and started doing more sneaky stuff. The combat in Valhalla is leagues better than this, so I ended up fighting enemies the normal way in that game, but OG Assassin's Creed is teaching me the PROPER way to do things. Respect.
Now as for story, I think I'm still lost on a few things, but I piecing it together. The beginning of Valhalla, with the modern-day people and the scary-looking sun in the sky, was all lost on me. After watching the ending of AC2, though, I'm starting to understand some things...a little. The modern day parts of the story will make more sense after playing more of the games. But as for Ezio's story, I enjoyed that a lot. What started as a tale of revenge for the murder of a man's father turned into a dive into a secret world treachery, ancient power, and a dedicated brotherhood of cool murder people trying to save the world from evil. As realistic as the setting is, it might be a bit weird to switch to something involving ancient god-like beings relaying messages to people in the future...or some shit...but it all felt natural during the story. It could be that I got used to it after the ending of Valhalla, which sure was...something...but either way, nothing felt strange or out of the ordinary, even when getting to the part where you have to kill the Pope after he obtains a magical staff that makes people obey him (long story). While I'm still lost on some factors of the modern day storyline, I really enjoyed Ezio's story just as much as I enjoyed Eivor's. If the other game's stories are just as engaging, I'm gonna have a great time playing through all of these.
I can see why Ezio is a fan favorite, and why AC2 is considered the best AC game ever made. If I had the kind of gaming tastes I do now back when this game first came out, I would've been a fan for life...or at least until the games became stinky, according to actual lifelong fans. But I dunno man, I played both the "greatest" AC game and the dumb stinky awful RPG style AC game and I immensely enjoyed both of them. I think I'm in a good place to be playing all these games right now, but we'll see how my opinion changes as time goes on.
So what's next on my game backlog? While I do want to get back into the Like A Dragon games (I currently finished Kiwami 2 and am starting Yakuza 3), I think I could use a palate cleanse from all this realism and get cartoony for a while. Wahoo.

So, in my somewhat more-coherent-than-before illness, I decided to watch this video, and I find it interesting to think about. He talks about 3 games, Bioshock Infinite, Assassin's Creed 2, and Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
Each one, he compares something or another to another game in particular. With Bioshock, it's to Last of Us, Majora's Mask to Ocarina of Time, and Assassin's Creed just to its entire genre.
I've never played Infinite, so I don't really have an opinion on that part, but I have strong opinions on MM and AC2 here. He talks about recently replaying the N64 Zeldas, and being blown away by OoT, and since my mom gave me an N64 for Christmas/Birthday while I was in the hospital, I have played both of them again recently myself. To which, my opinions on them really haven't changed. I still really don't like OoT all that much (finally beating it for the first time though!) despite having some core memories from it when I was a kid, and MM is still one of my favorite games of all time.
AC2 though... He talks about with all the derivatives off of it in the genre, he misses back when it was the highlight of the genre for him, and like... I cannot agree there. I played it when it came out, and gameplay-wise was fun, but one of the big plot twists just killed the series for me as a whole. I was vaguely wondering about AC1 after this video, but like, AC1 has been retroactively ruined in plot by said AC2 plot twist... Like, given the games I've been dev-blogging about (even if it's still basically non-existent since getting hit by the truck) don't really have heavily involved plot in the game directly (although J'ard has stupid deep world lore) I wouldn't be surprised if there was an impression that I didn't find plot important in games, but no, it's a very key part for me in games that have it... Just, I'm also quite happy to spend unreasonable amounts of time in roguelikes. Xp
I don't exactly know why I'm posting this, honestly, but I do feel it's an interesting video, and there aren't really any plot spoilers for any of the games in there that I noticed.

for the character ask meme - kaeya!!
thank you!!!
How I feel about this character
kaeya is just my favourite character in genshin hands down, from a lore and characterisation perspective. there's so much intrigue surrounding him, and the fractious relationship he has with diluc and mondstadt as a whole completely fascinates me. I'm a sucker for characters who use their charm as a cover for how incredibly fucked up they are inside, and kaeya has that whole vibe down to a t
gameplay wise, his kit is definitely not the most interesting, but I main him anyway. he's helped by the fact that freeze teams are super, SUPER fun to play, and by the fact that he works so well in quickswap comps. I haven't played him that much recently bc freeze teams haven't been great for abyss, but I FINALLY got some good artifacts for him (plus his fourth constellation!) so I plan to use him moment freeze becomes more viable again
All the people I ship romantically with this character
mainly albedo! I first took a liking to the ship because of all the fantastic kaebedo fan art and kaeya's Not Remotely Subtle voiceline about albedo being 'the type that everyone likes', but it was this fanfiction that totally sold me on it. the idea of two lonely khaenri souls with uneasy ties to mondstadt finding companionship in one another just *clenches fist* makes me feel a way
I also quite like kaeya/rosaria, owing to the same fanfic! I flip flop on that one. sometimes I like it just as a platonic thing, but I can dig the ship too
My non-romantic OTP for this character
depending on my mood, his dynamic with rosaria falls under this category. I also enjoy his relationship with jean, as these two friends who do understand one another very well but also leave a lot unsaid, because there's so much that's too difficult to discuss. his dynamic with diluc is probably best mentioned here too. i'm not against kaeluc as a ship personally, and I can jive with it when it's one-sided and borne more of a messed-up confusion on kaeya's part, but ultimately I just like the idea of them as adoptive brothers who still love each other to death but just cannot manage to like each other anymore
My unpopular opinion about this character
do I have an unpopular opinion?? from a gameplay perspective, maybe it's actually that he's way, way better than most people rate him. he's by no means top of the meta, but he's an incredibly strong four star and flexible both as a support and as part of a quickswap team. really versatile and worth building
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon
I'd love to see more interaction with Jean. I'm also eagerly awaiting a more detailed look at his backstory and what family he hails from in khaenri'ah. if he's not descended from royalty I will sell my left tit on ebay
my OTP
kaebedo!
my cross over ship
I don't really tend to go here, but kaeya makes flirting into a sport so you can basically pair him up with any vaguely fruity character and it'll be a fun time
a headcanon fact
i have a buy one get one free deal on headcanons tonight, so here's two:
kaeya is almost as well-read as lisa, but often downplays his love of literature for reasons even he isn't sure of.
he takes compliments about his appearance and his fighting prowess in his stride, but he's absurdly bashful if someone says anything nice about his personality. call him kind and his brain will short circuit

Can you list anything you unironically like in the games (and cartoons and comics) that you don't like?
I won't bother mentioning music, since that goes without saying and is to be expected for a Sonic game... unless you're Chronicles.
Sonic Adventure 2 (mixed gameplay-wise, annoying story-wise) - While I prefer Sonic's SA1 levels for a number of reasons, I still think his and Shadow's gameplay in SA2 is fun on its own merit. I also don't mind the treasure hunting gameplay returning or how big the levels are this time around, since Knuckles and Rouge are still fast and not '06 levels of slow. It's mainly the gimped radar that creates the unfortunate domino effect of making them a problem.
- Introduced Rouge, one of my favourite characters for how playful she is and how she's a lot more nuanced and intelligent than you'd expect.
- Some genuinely good scenes, like Eggman's trap on the A.R.K and Sonic escaping from the G.U.N. helicopter.
- Had some good ideas going for it, like the Pyramid Base and the Biolizard as a scientific monster instead of an ancient one.
- Despite my thoughts on the backstory itself (or rather, its execution), Shadow has enough depth and subtle qualities and occasional unintended hilarity to stand out from the typical dark rival characters you see in media.
- The Last Scene's music in particular is one of my favourite cutscene tracks in the series.
Sonic Heroes (mixed gameplay-wise, loathed story-wise) - The gameplay is fun when you're not being screwed over by repetitive combat, overly long levels and/or ice physics.
- Boasts some of the most consistently Genesis-worthy environments in the 3D games, up there with SA1's and Colours'.
- The in-game dialogue that isn't the same tutorial drivel repeated ad nauseam can be interesting, funny, etc.
- Reintroduced the Chaotix, which provided me with another character I quite like in the form of Vector.
- Bringing Metal Sonic back in full force and front and center in the plot after a long absence (not counting cameos and the like) is a perfectly fine idea. Just... not like this.
Sonic Battle (decent yet repetitive gameplay, mixed story-wise) - Emerl's arc is compelling, and it earns the emotional weight of having to put him down at the end.
- While some characters are iffy (read: Amy), other characters are extremely well-handled. Shadow is probably the prime example.
- Gamma's belly dance healing animation is fucking hilarious.
- When I was young, and the game was first announced, I was really excited about being able to play as Chaos. This proved to be my downfall when it turned out he was arguably one of the worst characters in the game due to being slower than me during the writing process, but I still recall that excitement fondly.
Shadow the Hedgehog (comedy classic) - The sheer amount of legendary stupidity this game has going for it makes it practically impossible to actually hate. It helps that it's not quite as white-knighted on the same level as '06... usually. You know you're in for a unique experience when you hear a gunshot every time you click something in the menu.
- By extension, Black Doom never gained an unironic fanbase like Mephiles/Scourge/Eggman Nega did, which means I'm a lot more willing to take Doom's dumbass brand of villainy in stride. He even has a unique design... a terrible one that rips off Wizeman granted, but alas, even that is a step-up from Fridge Shadow and Bumblebee Eggman.
- Despite being... well, Shadow the Hedgehog, some of the environments would fit right in with any other Sonic game, like with Circus Park, Lava Shelter, and Digital Circuit. Even the Black Comet levels look pretty cool.
- This game understands amnesia better than IDW does.
Sonic '06 (what do you think?) - The obvious one: Shadow's character was handled pretty well, even if it came at the cost of everyone else being a dummy and being forced to interact with Mephiles.
- Like SA2, there are some good moments, like the Last Story ending sequence with Sonic and Elise.
- In the greatest form of irony ever, I like Solaris as a concept and design(s), and its backstory has potential to serve as a parallel with Chaos without being a complete ripoff. Iblis sucks, Mephiles sucks, but I'm fine with Solaris.
- Introduced legendary characters like Sonic Man, Pele the Beloved Dog, Hatsun the Pigeon, and Pacha from The Emperor's New Groove.
Tumblr media
The Rivals duology (apathetic outside of Nega-related grumbling) - There were some cool zone ideas in both games that were sadly let down by the restrictive and limiting gameplay. I particularly like Colosseum Highway for thus far being the only full-on Roman level in the series instead of merely having a couple minor hints of Roman, and Meteor Base for the unique scenario of the space station being built into an asteroid. These level concepts and others deserve a second chance IMO. (At least Frontier Canyon got a second chance in the form of Mirage Saloon, amirite?)
- Ifrit has a better design than Iblis. Not saying it's amazing, but the Firebird motif it has going on is a lot more interesting for a fire monster than the Not-Chaos schtick they had with Iblis.
Sonic and the Secret Rings (a very frustrating gaming experience) - Erazor Djinn, A.K.A. Qui-Gon Djinn, A.K.A. Dr. N. Djinn, A.K.A. I'll Take It On The Djinn, A.K.A. Not From The Hairs On My Djinny Djinn Djinn, is one of the best villains not associated with Eggman in the series. He's a Mephiles-type character done right, and there's actual weight and reason to his actions, however sinister or petty.
- I don't have strong opinions either way on Shahra as a character, but the Sonic/Shahra friendship is sweet and well-handled.
- The ending is one of Sonic's greatest moments. The sheer contrast between how ruthlessly he deals with Erazor and how comforting he is towards Shahra speaks volumes... Still gonna make fun of the mountain of handkerchiefs though. (Before anyone lectures me, I understand the significance of it and can even appreciate it from that angle... doesn't mean I'm not allowed to poke fun at it. :P)
- Another game with some redeeming environments. I love the aesthetic of Night Palace, and Sand Oasis looks gorgeous too.
Sonic Chronicles (my personal least favourite game in the series) - Uh...
- Um...
- Er...
- I like Shade's design?
Sonic Unleashed (overrated game and story IMO) - The obvious two: the opening sequence and the Egg Dragoon fight deserve all the praise they get.
- Seeing Eggmanland come to life was an impressive moment to be sure. While part of me does feel it didn't quite measure up to what I had in mind (ironically, the Interstellar Amusement Park ended up being closer to what I had in mind), it still looks badass and works well for what it is. I also don't mind the idea of it being a one-level gauntlet... key word being idea.
- Obviously, the game looks great. Not a fan of the real world focus (real world inspiration is fine, but copy-pasting the real world and shoving loops in it is just unimaginative), but it can't be denied that the environments look good.
- This game pulled off dialogue options a lot better than Chronicles did, since they didn't rely on making Sonic OoC.
Sonic and the Black Knight (just kind of boring all around) - Despite my gripes with the story (Merlina wasn't nearly as fleshed out as her unique anti-villain status deserved, which ends up severely undermining the ambition of the plot in more ways than one, and the other characters go from being useless yes men for King Arthur to being useless yes men for Sonic), I will admit it provides interesting insight into Sonic's character.
- Like '06 and Secret Rings, the ending is very nice... well, aside from Amy being an unreasonable bitch ala Sonic X at the very end.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (apathetic) - The admittedly few new concepts sprinkled within had promise. They may not have been as fleshed out as they could have been, but level concepts like Sylvania Castle and White Park, bosses like Egg Serpentleaf and the Egg Heart, and story beats like the Death Egg mk.II being powered by Little Planet, all could have been brilliant had they been better executed.
SatAM (apathetic outside of SatAM Robotnik-related grumbling) - I'm not a fan of the environments on the whole due to them looking too bland or samey, but there are some exceptions that look pleasant or interesting, like the Void.
Sonic Underground (apathetic) - The character designs make me feel better about myself.
- Does "large quantities of unintentional meme material" count as a positive?
Sonic X (mostly apathetic outside of Eggman's handling) - Helen was a better human character and audience surrogate in her one focus episode than Chris was throughout his entire runtime.
- Actually, most of the human characters not named Chris were legitimately likable. Including everyone in Chris' own family not named Chris. Hilarious.
- Despite arguably having the most Chris in it, I actually don't mind the first season that much, partly due to slight nostalgia from seeing it on TV when it was new, but mostly because Eggman actually acted like a villain for the most part, and certain other characters weren't quite as flanderized yet. It's season 2 and onwards where things started going off the rails IMO. (Incidentally, Helen's episode was part of season 1...)
The Boom franchise (apathetic) - Along with Chronicles, the games provide yet more proof that just because someone isn't SEGA/Sonic Team, that doesn't mean they're automatically more qualified to handle the series.
- The show had some good episodes here and there, and Tails' characterization was probably the most consistently on-point out of the cast.
- Despite not exactly being favourite portrayals for either character, even I'll admit that many of Knuckles and Eggman's lines in the show on their own were genuinely funny.
Archie Sonic (pre-reboot is mostly terrible, post-reboot is mostly... bland) - Whenever I doubt myself as a writer, I think back to Ken Penders, and suddenly I'm filled with a lot more confidence.
Sonic the Comic (apathetic) - Fleetway isn't a comic I tend to recall much of aside from how much of a loathesome cunt Sonic is, but IIRC, Robotnik's portrayal is pretty good. Different, but good.
IDW Sonic (stop pissing me off, comic) - Putting their handling aside (and being too obviously "inspired" by MGS in the latter's case), Tangle and Whisper are good characters IMO.
- Same goes for Starline, before he was killed off-screen and replaced with Toothpaste Snively.
- Execution aside (noticing a pattern?), the zombot virus was a fine concept on its own and an interesting new scheme for Eggman.
- I get to remind myself that I've never drawn scat edits and posted them publicly on Twitter.
