The Zoe re-rework, and the first thing I can tick off my schedule!

Zoe’s story and character have changed since my first redesign of her, so her look needed to reflect that. And since I made her 12 instead of 14, she needed to change to reflect that. Aka skintight suit begone!

I know I was really into her braid, from canon and the first redesign, but it muddied up her silhouette with the wings. So instead she’s now copying civilian Chloe’s hairstyle with a bee bun. Clean and simple. Plus it gives us a nice reoccurring spinning top motif.

Then there’s the monkey in the room. And the plainest explanation for it being here is that it’s a part of Zoe’s storyline. She, alongside the other main heroes, is looking for the lost Miraculous that have been spread out across France but mostly Paris. And the monkey Miraculous was being used by someone with less than heroic intentions, and it’s up to Princess Bee to take them down.

I changed the monkey Miraculous from a circlet to a headband. Don’t get me wrong, I love the reference to Journey To The West, but it’s not the most subtle thing to wear in public. And a character is meant to wear it for a little while before they’re figured out, so I changed it to a simple headband. But outside of that it was a challenge to combine the bee and the monkey. Yellow and tan aren’t easy to put side by side without clashing. I think I pulled it off though. Hopefully. Thank you @gale-gentlepenguin for putting the name “Chimpanbee” in my mind.

And finally Powered Up/ Ascended Vesperia! Not too much was changed, just a different haircut. I again mourn the loss of the braided high ponytail, but she was just so top heavy. I know its fiction but she would have looked very off balance when trying to fly. So kept the bee bun from her base form. Bee buns and pompoms are always the answer.

Question out of interest: What character aspect of Gabriel Agreste do you guys use to demonize him? Like, if you were tasked to write the most monstrous version out of Gabriel/Hawkmoth possible how would you approach that?

To monsterfy Gabriel I always approach it right from his fatherhood, that's where he is at his most irredeemable and most horrifyingly awful in my opinion. Everything else comes second. As magical, power-insane butterfly terrorist I hardly mind him because he's so disinterested in people themselves for the most part, making it feel almost impersonal at times.

But as a father? That man is already an abusive nightmare to behold when he's a civilian and hardly paying attention to Adrien. So when you then open the Chat Blanc/Ephemeral possibilities? That's where the actual horror starts for me. Hawkmoth is for me am entertaining boogeyman, but Gabriel Agreste is/can be an absolute monster of a father.

This is one of the biggest reasons why I take so much interest in Adriens and Gabriels father-son dynamic and the Agrestes in general - looking for Gabriels understandable and even sympathetic humanity, especially as a father, is for me the most effective way to then demonize the hell out of this man.

Seriously, I'm curious.

Well, it all started with how @jacquesthepigeon mentioned an idea where Marinette accidentally creates a living thing.

I took the plot idea and made the living thing in question her little Chat Noir doll.

And thus the Dolls AU was born. Which kinda grew as not only does Chaton get to go on adventures, but Littlebug gets added to the fun when Marinette inadvertently makes a living Ladybug doll for Adrien that also comes to life.

What follows is humor and fluff! Unless @gale-gentlepenguin and I are allowed in a room together, then it will turn to soul-crushing angst. Also many shenanigans, the Dolls getting into mischief, and potential world domination.
