1930s Loookbook

After the roaring 20s, fashion became more conservative in the 1930s, with hair and hemlines getting longer again. The era was defined by the great depression, after the stock market crashed in 1929, and lasted through almost the whole decade. Many families during this time began making dresses from flour sacks, and so companies began printing textiles on the sacks for extra reusability. Despite the decade's widespread poverty, fashion themes of femininity and elegance prevailed, inspired by Hollywood stars like Joan Crawford.

look, we're in the 2000s now, and its where i admit: i dont know what modern fashion is, really. i know that baggy clothing was popular. i know that the emo and scene looks were iconic. i know that super low waisted pants and crop tops were cool. i know ugg boots were like super popular for some reason?

anyway. i started the fall term! so i have not been as present because i have been busy and so so sleepy. so so sleepy. but im gonna finish this goddamn project.

1940s Lookbook

Fedoras, trench coats, Hollywood glamour, and American patriotism, it’s the 1940s! WWII had a huge effect on the fashion of the 40s. Rationing meant people were encouraged to wear utilitarian garments with less fabric. Wide-legged high waisted pants were popular on men and women, as the war necessitated more women to enter the workforce, often working in factories.

Anatomica: A Tattoo Set

I love anatomical tattoos and have a human heart tattooed on my left shoulder, so I thought it would be cool to have my tattoo in-game. So here’s my human heart tat along with 5 other anatomy tattoos. Fun fact: the two cross-sectional torsos (one male, one female), were taken from the book De humani corporis fabrica by Andreas Vesalius, who was a 16th century anatomist. It’s a beautiful, historic book and a must read if you like anatomy and the human body.

James Villanueva (he/him)

James is high energy and talkative. He’s not really sure what he wants to do with the rest of his life (perhaps an event coordinator or social media manager?) but he has a strong moral compass and is not afraid to speak his mind. In his free time he dances and works as a lifeguard.

1950s Lookbook

After the end of World War II, the 50s brought about a new wave of consumerism to America, the rise of suburbia, and women leaving the workforce after the war to become housewives. After the end of wartime thrift, skirts got fuller and decorative femininity was embraced. Women’s trousers, such as cigarette pants, became more common. Movie stars like James Dean also popularized the iconic Rebel Without a Cause look: jeans, white shirts, leather jackets, and greased-back hair.

1980s Lookbook

The 80s brought us some very notable music, movies, and of course, fashion. Clothing was all about making a statement: with big hair, bight colors, big shoulders, and bold jewelry. Neon was everywhere, mullets were actually cool, and aerobics was taking over the world. Movies and TV had a heavy influence on fashion too, like the oversized sweatshirt craze started by Flashdance, or the rise of the Hawaiian shirt thanks to Magnum, P.I.
