hi! i'm interested in this other material implying that magical girl heaven doesn't exist. because i mean. i feel like it must, if rebellion is canon. because sayaka is madoka's goddess secretary and bebe is also some sort of assistant, right? madoka sent them on the mission with her to save homura. they even reference how this was a particularly hard mission (like they do it all the time.) and they talk about saving homura like its her deserved reward for all her hard work. and they seem to be descending from some sort of magical realm when homura grabs madoka. unless you think those are also false memories implanted by kyubey or this world?

(for the record i am not deep in the fandom so i'm genuniely asking these things - all my commentary is based solely off of my memories of the movie and series)

Yeah yeah no worries! There's still nothing concrete on the matter, but it seems to imply that Madoka at least spends the vast majority of her time alone, or that the heaven is nonexistent and more of a Nirvana state for the girls who pass.

In the original Concept Movie Trailer (this was an early visual inspiration / idea board for the movie we are getting soon) they have this dialogue between Madoka and Homura:

Madoka & Homura: Do you know what happiness is? Homura: It's having your name called by someone. Madoka: It's calling someone's name. Homura: It's when someone is thinking of you. Madoka & Homura: But God alone cannot have any of this

This is to be taken with a grain of salt since it's only Homura's personal beliefs that Madoka is mindlessly repeating - but I think it would be strange nonetheless to imply Madoka has no contact, then have it be revealed that she actually was chilling with Sayaka the whole time.

Then the Rebellion production note (in the top corner):

"Among the magical girls who have now become part of the gods, for those who know Homura, this operation is a major event, like a momentary awakening from a long, long dream."

And Magia Record is less canon, since Urobutchi and a lot of the production staff are not involved, but it's consistent that they portray her as entirely solitary and mentions not having a conversation with anyone in a long time.

In my mind, magical girls who ascend just exist as energy, and are only able to be temporarily awoken by Madoka for special purposes. There has always been a lot of symbolism with sleeping and dreaming in the series - for one last point, the Rebellion ED song 'Your Silver Garden' has a lyric about the 'guardian of innocent slumberers' which could refer to Goddess Madoka.

So about the blog thing….I need to think about it. I’m really busy hunting grief seeds and making sure I got enough food to live. I know I joke about it but I really do gotta focus on that stuff. And well…..I won’t lie. I really do like talking to you all. It’s…..it’s nice being normal for a bit.

Im…..I’m….I’m really sorry if you and Sayaka’s blogs became filled with my constant asks or people wondering about my asks. I only came to really make fun of you two and Mami (and sometimes Homura) for being so positive about being magical girls. But, It felt nice talking with people so…..happy. So I got carried away and kept asking and asking. And you and Sayaka just responded to me almost every time.

I mean I talked to Mami for the first time in god knows how long too! I actually started to look forward to you guys posts and stuff. But….I….I don’t know if that blog stuff is for me. I’m not trying to be coy either. While there were fun parts, there were parts where I did get uncomfortable at times. Nothing against you guys of course. It’s just a me thing.

I need to think about it. I hope it’s okay if I just stick to the asks for awhile until I think of something. The same to Sayaka as well. I hope you understand.

And….thanks for the offer, Madoka.

THH's Moral Alignement and Reasoning

[spoiler for danganronpa 1]

disclaimer: I haven't read the novels, also these aren't character analysis, just my reasoning for why i put them in this category, also please add onto it if you disagree or have anything to say ^^

Lawful Good

Sakura Ogami: She always takes decisions that she considers to be the best for the people around her : trying to proctect her dojo by accepting to work with Monokuma or committing suicide and making sure to write a letter explaining to everyone why she did it as to resolve the situation and create a more peaceful atmosphere among them.

Kyoko Kirigiri: She has good intentions and i feel like what pushes her to act is kind of a "i can do it therefore i should do it" mindset.

Chihiro Fujisaki: Cute baby sunshine, never did anything wrong in their life.

Ishimaru Kiyotaka: He's the Ultimate Moral Compass, pretty self-explanatory.

Naegi Makoto: A genuinely good person who tries his best to be kind.

Neutral Good

Aoi: We can see during chapter 4 that she put her personal beliefs above all else but even if she tried to kill everyone i still think that she is a good person.

Toko (Ultra Despair Girl): If we were talking solely about THH i would've put her in Neutral Evil since she doesn't care about anyone but herself and is pretty mean (also something that i find very interesting during the 4th trial is that even if throughout the game she seems totally devoted and in love with Byakuya + her obvious lack of self esteem she still chose to defend herself when she thought Genocide Jack had killed Sakura which could've led to his death), but the character development she gets in that game is golden so yeah.

Chaotic Good

Mondo: Feel free to disagree with me on that because of the fact that he killed Chihiro who very much did not deserve it but contrary to what Naegi says in the game it absolutely wasn't a cold blooded murder, himself stating that he blacked-out while killing them. I still chose to put him in good because otherwise he really tried to do the right thing (protecting Chihiro's secret by moving their body or even when in the anime he covered Mukuro's bldy with his coat it showed that he was a kind person) + we also know that he uses his influence to minimize tensions between gangs.

True Neutral

Byakuya: I feel like his god complex makes him kind of uncapable to relate to other people and consider their struggles on the same level as him so he doesn't care about anyone + we saw during the 2nd trial that he definitely can't be described as a good person. I truly feel like he couldn't care less about rules or moral implications as he considers himself above it.

Leon: His actions only seem to be motivated by what he wants in that moment without a lot of reasoning behind it, like changing from baseball to music or killing Sayaka when he could've totally ran away after she tried to kill him.

Chaotic Neutral

Sayaka : I feel like she's morally neutral in the way where she's so goal-oriented that she doesn't care too much about the means to get to an end (which is also implicate in her backstory) but she's aware that what she does might bad : she was willing to let everyone die and pin the crime on Naegi but once her plan failed she still made sure to save everyone instead by writing Leon's name.

Yasuhiro : I hesitated to put him in chaotic evil because of the fact that he quite literally could have/tried to kill Sakura + he never was particularly kind to no one in the game and tried to steal money from us during his free time (tbh im still kinda mad at the wasted potential of making him a nice chill guy but well). In the end i went for neutral because i feel like its more a case of picking the worst possible choice than being a bad person, even if he is quite selfish.

Lawful Evil

Hifumi: The reason i put him in "lawful" is because what convinced him to kill Ishimaru was Celestia accusing him of SA, which is an understandable reason especially paired with the chance to get out happy and with Celestia but he was still willing to sacrifice everyone to get out so lawful evil it is.

Neutral Evil

Celestia Lundenberg: It was pretty complicated but i settled on this alignement if we take the things she tells us at face value (since i've seen a few people saying that she wasn't actually trying to win the game and that's why her plan was so sloppy). I don't feel like she's a bad person but she doesn't care about doing bad things to get what she wants.

Mukuro Ikusaba: That's where me not reading the novels probably makes a difference because i know that she gets more development there but based on the game and the anime i have to put her here, even if she was obviously manipulated by Junko she still seemed to agree with her.

Chaotic Evil

Junko Enoshima: Do i really need to explain ?

Genocide Jack: I mean, she enjoys killing people and has no other reason for what she does.

Alright!

So, like Galactic Melancholy, “Danganronpa: Atlantic Sorrow” is a talentswap fic with a mix of characters from the game! It takes place in a mysterious underwater facility, and is headed by a mysterious mermaid known as Monohina, heading by her crab and fish sidekicks.

The primary twist is that these talents are taken from Danganronpa Another and Danganronpa Another 2!

Our protagonist is Komaru Naegi, the Ultimate Pilot! Thanks to her having an Ultimate talent, I’d believe that she would be a far more confident person, without her losing that good ol’ Komaru charm. In spite of her hermbo energy, Komaru’s shocking moments of intelligence and craftiness could help her survive in the diametric opposite of the sky!

But she is not alone in her endeavors, for she also has the help of:

Toko Fukawa, the cowardly and distrusting Ultimate Police Officer as well as Komaru’s support, with a hidden free-spirited side!

Sayaka Maizono, the charismatic and cheery Ultimate Merchant/famous advertising personality with a million-dollar smile!

Leon Kuwata, the burnt-out prodigy Ultimate Actor who wants nothing more than to step out of the limelight and follow a different dream!

Chihiro Fujisaki, the timid yet superbly-kind-hearted Ultimate Cheerleader who wants nothing more than to assert himself as a real man!

Sakura Oogami, the wise and contemplative Ultimate Psychologist, who’s a firm believer in a healthy body equalling a healthy mind!

Kazuichi Souda, the Ultimate Billiards Player who wishes to reinvent himself as a tough assertive person, but can’t shake his natural cowardice!

Hiyoko Saionji, the cute-looking yet mean-spirited and competitive Ultimate Painter, who is the latest scion of an influential family of traditional artists!

Ryoma Hoshi, a former ex-convict who is currently the Ultimate Priest and wishes to find solace and atonement for his past deeds in the form of “God”.

Speaking of, I feel like Fandom kinda irons out the complexities of characters with Flanderization. Like Miu, who was very reluctant with killing Kokichi, but she's viewed more as feeling no regret because she's a 1-dimensional girlboss. In the same vein, we have Sayaka, who is turned into a 1041 that only regreted her attempt to kill Leon because she died.

GOD do NOT get me started on Miu and Kokichi's dynamics the amount of times I had to yell that they were FRIENDS and they GOT ALONG is INSANE

Also Sayaka deserved better

Nobody asked me, but now that I've finished the main story of both Danganronpa games (Let's Plays, anyway, I'm going to play myself now), here are the thoughts running through my head. This post will be for the first game, I'll make another post for the second one.

(spoilers under the cut: I know the games have been out for a while but still):

1. It took me a LONG time to finish the first game after the first execution. I really liked Leon and not just because his design reminded me of Kirishima from MHA. I felt really bad about the situation he was in, even if, you know, he still killed Sayaka, his death was Brutal. I stopped watching for a few months because it haunted me, until my sister encouraged me to keep going because she wanted to talk to someone about it.

2. On that note, WHY, of all the available classmates, did Sayaka pick Leon as her potential victim? Why, if your goal was to kill, would you pick one of the Ultimate athletes? I feel like she would have had far more success if she'd chosen Hifumi or even Chihiro (sorry bb, I love you). Is there a lore reason behind it?

3. All that said, I am unfortunately interested in Leosaya content for the dramatic irony and tragedy of it, so if anyone has suggestions, let me know, and I also want to see Leon and Ibuki being best buds because she left her music group to pursue her actual creative dreams and Leon hated baseball and wanted to pursue dreams of being a musician and I can see them teaming up to be in a weird-ass band together. Someone direct me to any Leon and Ibuki platonic (or romantic, I'm down) content.

4. I think Leon is gaining blorbo status for me, but not as much as some other characters from the second game, but this is in no coherent order so bear with me, and also keep in mind, I have yet to play through all his possible dialogue in the School Mode version of the game so this is liable to change.

5. I went from waiting eagerly for Byakuya to die to being devastated that he died in the second game to REALLY HAPPY that that apparently wasn't even him (though I do like the Imposter & would like to know more about them). AND THEN to being so excited that he's apparently in a power throuple with Kyoko and Makoto, OT3s FOR THE WIN!!!!

6. Hina and Sakura were really sweet, and I Loooooove how protective Hina was, because yeah, the whole point of the fourth case was she underestimated Sakura's strength, but I also think Sakura deserved to be protected. Just because she's strong doesn't mean she didn't deserve people defending her.

7. On that note, ya'll, when I didn't know what to expect from this game, I legit thought somehow Mondo and Taka were going to die in that sauna. My stomach was in knots over it. Then they just. Were bros. And I was confused but on board with them (platonically AND romantically) and then the second case devastated me and not just because I had to watch Taka be Sad for so long.

5. I feel...so bad about the whole case with Mondo and Chihiro. They were BUDDIES. I know the whole point of the story is that people betray each other but God, imagine the "motive" you were given wasn't so much a motive as it was a fucking PTSD break and it lead to you killing someone that you were not only cool with, but who admired you for qualities you didn't feel worthy of, just FUCK--

6. If you let yourself stop and think of the Everything about these games and the stories, it really fucks you up, let me live in No Despair Land where everyone's friends with each other and there's no murder--

7. Also, the whole thing with Junko. I remember, before I took a break after Leon's execution, vaguely wondering about her last words? But it was a fleeting thought that didn't lead to anything, AND THEN IT CAME BACK AROUND??? So holy shit, that was cool.

8. Gotta say, as frustrating as a lot of repetitive stuff in the game got, I understood why it was needed for the case solving portion. As some of you can tell from my Clone Wars series with sweetiepie08, I LOVE mystery solving stuff when it's done right, and even if some of them are So SO convoluted, it's satisfying to see how they fall together.

9. The VAs in these games are fucking awesome. Even if some of the shit they had to say was ridiculous (which is par the course if that's your job), they did so damn good.

10. YA'LL, I legit thought Makoto was about to be executed, so when Alter Ego suddenly showed up and saved him, I shrieked, and then KYOKO found him, and I know a lot didn't happen after that except a shit ton of exposition, but I was so psyched.

11. *sigh* I don't know what the public opinion is of Toko, but she drove me insane with the debilitating inferiority complex. And then the Genocide Jack/Jill thing happened and I mean, at least she was...slightly more interesting with that, but still, I think Toko was somehow my least favorite out of the whole gang, next to Hifumi. I also would not have predicted that she'd be one of the final survivors.

12. I legit thought Hiro was going to snap at one point after his long period of denial at the beginning. I thought he'd snap and kill someone or get killed, so when he survived until the end, I was very surprised.

13. Tbh, I did not predict the endgame survivors for either Danganronpa. I think literally all I would have gotten right was Makoto, Kyoko, and Hajime. Everyone else was quite a surprise to me.

14. Not to compare another Danganronpa character to MHA, but I was super fond of Taka right off the bat because he's so Tenya coded, those two are definitely cousins or something.

15. Someone add onto my agenda of doing a Danganronpa x MHA fusion somehow, I'll make thoughts on another post.

16. I really loved Kyoko's dynamic with Makoto, idk why, and I just fucking love Kyoko in general, she's so cool. Sherlock Holmes, step aside.

First impression: Why is she so mean?

Impression now: Hold very gently. You deserve everything. You were so young when you experienced every horror you could. You never had a chance for a good life. You wanted to be idealistic and believe in the good of humanity so bad but were beaten down but still want to find that spark.

Favorite moment: “Hey god if you’re there… my life sucked. So just this once can’t I have a happy dream?” Just the impact of that line is enough, but the scene that follows had 14 year old me sobbing like an infant

Idea for a story: We need more stories exploring her Catholic guilt alongside Homura.

Unpopular opinion: Her dad sucked.

Favorite relationship: KYOKO AND SAYAKA. This is 14 year old mes otp and it still does things to me.

A headcanon: Mami was the first person she went to an arcade with. She really enjoyed getting to do things like that now that she had money.

So Rebellion rewatch thoughts! This will defintely be longer than any of the other ones because. Well. It's a movie. lol.

-It's interessting to start watching Rebellion right after the post credit scene from episode 12, because like the first scene of the movie really makes it feel like the labyrinth is being build. Like how you had flashes of what made up Oktavia's labyrinth in episode 9

-Btw I LOVE the track that plays during the first nightmare fight

-I'm going to pop that godforsaken Incubator's head like a balloon

-THE KYOSAYA SCENE FROM THE OPENING. SOBBING.

-You know how in the opening they're also shown throughout different seasons? I always wondered if that's an actual indicator of how much time passed inside the labyrinth or if it's just general opening shenanigans...

-Sayaka's little "Klar?" in the English dub is adorable actually hkadhjshd

-Sayaka and Kyoko's bickering,,,,because they're friends,,,, "We just started to become friends",,,, this shit is making me more emotional than it has any right to,,,,

-Bebe hissing at Kyubey is literally the funniest thing like you can tell she wants to bite his stupid face off so bad

-I love the Quintet's transformation scenes here, they're SO fucking cool

-A thing I noticed in the transformations though that at some point during Sayaka's you see runes flashing for a second (Which I'm 99% sure just mean her name), but I also checked if the others have them and guess what. The only other person who had runes was Homura. Which is neat considering she's a witch and Sayaka is... well, whatever it is she really is now.

-The fact that Sayaka fully related to Hitomi here because of everything... man.

-CAKE SONG!!!

-Also shoutout to Sayaka who's just literally vibing to the whole thing, and then just happily watches the whole dream play out... she's the goat

-fjmsfjjd the little interactions of Sayaka and Kyoko just fooling around make me so fucking emo, because Sayaka knows,,, she knows

-Also the fact that they keep showing shots of places were significant stuff happened in the show, like the evacuation center, the alleyway or the train station, etc.... man.

-Ugh I love how the labyrinth slowly becomes more and more weird and uncanny throughout the movie, it's soooooo good

-"Crashing at Sayaka's place" ....and they were roommates- [GUNSHOT]

-Homura and Kyoko's friendship is soooooo important,,, oughghsgdhg

-The accordian in the OST is so good, although just the whole OST is really great tbh

-And the way Homura slips back into her more tough persona,,

-Homura basically calling herself out for two minutes is actually a little funny jskdj

-It's interessting to think about that Nagisa definitely realized that Homura started to notice how things are, and definitely alarmed Sayaka in that same moment

-The whole conversation at Mami's makes me so soft... because like Homura is so much softer abt Mami, and Mami so openly talks about her feelings... justt ouhhgghhghh

-Nvm what I said her tough guy persona is so silly sometimes, like girl shut the fuck up you know you love them all ugh

-God I love this fight between Mami and Homura because it really puts into perspective just what a fucking monster Mami is at her prime like holy shit

-Also how Homura first aimed at the soul gem and had to force her hand down to aim at her tigh... that just really reminds you of how many times murder was her only option and the trauma she has from all that... oh Homura..

-GOD THE ALLEYWAY SCENE. I LOVE IT.

-Sayaka having her vague cryptid moment is just GOD. Like yes you're doing great!!!

-Sayaka asking whether a world like this is really so bad both because she's sympathizing with Homulilly, but also because she wants to keep the world like that just a little longer I-

I'm just gonna- *points at this* "The mermaid witch; it is in her nature to fall in love. Looking for the feeling that moved her so long ago, she moves with the entire concert hall."

-Homura asking "Are you really Sayaka Miki?" followed by Sayaka's reflection turning into Oktavia as she says, "I'm the same old Sayaka you've always known, Transfer student." is such a good scene because it implies that her second name very much is true as well (which is even more ough especially after she just sympathized with Homulilly) but also is so horrifying considering every magical girl Sayaka always turned into a witch.. I find that moment so incredibly facsinating. Also it gives me goosebumps lol

-I'm also forever so very intrigued by this scene because I'm still sure this is Sayaka's way of switching forms. As her witchform being able to hide in water is the only way that you can explain how she got away so quickly despite the timestop, and can still talk after that.

....I've been rambling a lot about this huh.

-Homura calling herself out part 2

-The whole scene with Homura and Madoka really was the final straw that led to Homura's silly goofy mood later on when they break out of the labyrinth, huh.

-I swear to god the final revelation is also SO fucking well made it's great.

-Also I'm still obsessed with the fact that Flame of Despair perfectly leads into Symposium Magarum when you cut them together. Like what the HELL is up with that, I NEED TO KNOW. WHY DO SAYAKA AND HOMURA'S WITCH THEMES GO TOGETHER LIKE THAT.

-Plottwist: The white cloth Homura had on is Sayaka's cape /j

-Damn I really do have no idea what to say... the whole final stretch of Homura turning into Homulilly always lesves me speechless tbh 😭😭

-Oh snap wait, there was a countdown just like before the fight with Walpurgis

The way the whole scene with Sayaka is coloured just like Elsa Maria's labyrinth, Elsa Maria who had such a prominent role in Sayaka's downfall...

And then this. The way Sayaka is fully in control of her orchestra, the way it shows how at peace she is even with the selfish and so horribly angry part of herself. The way her orchestra now is bright and colourful, the music it plays so incredibly hopeful, instead of the horrible symphony that is her deepest despair and all the emotions it's made of. It's the way she even lowkey ressembles her orginial pose as a witch, it's the balance between protecting what's dear to her and selfishness... it's so god damn important, Rebellion Sayaka is so important,,, *head in hands*

okay so i’m gonna give a little summary about madoka, spoilers for most of the show, and i’ll mark when i get into spoiler free personality/plot idea territory

so normal high school girl madoka hears a voice in her head asking for help. it’s kyubey, a cute little guy that i hate, who’s being hunted by homura

turns out kyubey can grant a wish in return for making girls magical girls, and they have to fight witches in return

madoka wants to become a magical girl but homura keeps trying to stop her. she doesn’t understand why

ultimately her best friend sayaka winds up becoming a magical girl to help this boy that she likes, but things quickly get bad for sayaka.

she discovers her soul is no longer a part of her body, and that all magical girls have their souls put into soul gems to keep them safe. they get mad at kyubey for not telling them but he doesn’t understand why

things just keep going downhill with the worst revelation that madoka has learned being that magical girls eventually turn into witches, and that they all eventually become the things they’re trying to protect people from

bigger spoilers now (yes it gets bigger)

madoka, without knowing it has been the center of a time loop homura is running to try and save madoka’s life. when they first met madoka was already a magical girl, using her wish to save the life of a cat, and homura ultimately made her wish to go back in time and try to save madoka

it hasn’t worked and as a result madoka has a pile of potential power as a maigcal girl

this does end in madoka becoming a god and essentially destroying herself to save all the other magical girls, but madoka does not know that currently, nor does she know about the time loop at all.

listen i play nice characters but this is someone who used her kindness to rewrite the entire universe to be a kinder and more gentle place. i am not fucking around here

okay less spoilerly more just personality territory!

a genuinely nice and good person! madoka can be a bit shy, and hesitant, but she wants to be good and genuinely works towards that

time and time again madoka looks at a world that is cruel and uncaring but says that it doesn’t matter because she knows mercy and hope and love

listen for all that the show is sad it’s also inherently hopeful and i think a lot of that is in madoka

she doesn’t have a lot of particular strengths like she’s fine academically but nothing special which kinda leads to this selfless need to help people which sometimes is good and sometimes is far too self sacrificing

she’s in college but doesn’t know what to major in and gets kinda discouraged struggling with her purpose

knows that magic and stuff is real and being in a city where it feels like everything is magical but her is gonna be rough

Stressed given the fact that the last time she aw her best friend she turned into a witch and she wants to go home

I know, I know, ever Shoune, Seinen, or whatever type of manga that is ever been adapted into an animation series in every year? What's the deal with Fanservice, why does it have to be a term that is literally stupid?

Lucy : Oh stupid you say? If everyone think Fanservice is ruining japanese animation in every year, it's all because of the term was coined back in the 20th century, I was depicted for fanservice and they started to draw this on the computer! (shows a picture to Tamaki)
