You are not Alone

Oh no, no, no, no, no. This can’t be true. This is not happening. He can’t, not here, not now, how is this possible? The bottom drops out of his stomach as it all comes into glaring clarity. The broken dishes, glasses, school lab equipment, all happening out of nowhere. The sudden anxiety, sleeping issues, and odd behaviour they had mentioned. The talk of having to deal with ghosts and avoidance of talking about the ghost hunting of his parents. 

He is so stupid, and it is so oblivious looking back. Those flushes of warmth all this week while catching up with his friends were not just psychological. It was his ghost sense picking up the presence of another ghost. That twitch he had been seeing all day from Danny must be his picking up on him. Wait, no, something is still not adding up. What about the exposure and recovery?

There was no mention of an accident by his parents. No overflow or explosion when it turned on that could have infected Danny. Not that they have mentioned much about the portal due to the delicate nature of his past with them. Danny also does not look like he is recovering or hiding a recovery either. Vlad spent nearly a year in the hospital after his accident with a small proto portal. He was damn lucky that his powers had not begun to show in earnest until the very end of his stay. So how could Danny appear fine yet show signs of having ghost powers?

How could this be happening? What is he is wrong and a ghost is puppeting Danny around in some sick twisted way to torture him. The ghosts that leave the realms are rarely anything but malicious and power hungry. Always ready to attack any weakness he showed in his search for help. This is a new low. Getting his hopes up of not being alone after starting to repair his old friendships. Then to tear it all apart by attacking him using the son of his friends. Forcing him to reveal his secret to them and make it seem like he is a monster. 

No, slow down, breath in for four, exhale seven. Vlad takes a few calming breaths to get the mounting panic under control. Don’t jump to conclusions. Remember what the therapist said. He can do this, just keep breathing and it will help. Stop letting your thoughts run ahead of you and take the first step to find out what is happening, not what you think. First he needs to know for sure of the source of the ghost powers he has been sensing.

“Danny, why don’t we sit down for a bit. The AC over here is a bit strong since they are getting ready for the party. I have always found they turn it up too high.” Vlad asks. 

Danny still looks spooked as he scans the small crowd that had trickled into the gym. It is almost effortless to direct him towards an out of the way table. One hand gently placed on the boy's shoulder. It clicks into place as the thrum of another ghost is blatantly obvious with the contact. He focuses a bit more and can feel that undercurrent of power thrumming with Danny. It feels a part of him like the purr of a cat. Not at all like the trapped static feeling of a ghost overshadowing another. Vlad’s mind races at this new revelation.

The tiredness at the beginning of the trip when he first met Danny makes more sense now. He only had to deal with a few ghosts over the years. Natural portals are rare and most ghosts seem reluctant to go through them. You never know just how long they will be open for and could end up trapped on the wrong side even if you are careful. Those ghosts that did leave them tended to be either very weak or malicious with power to spare the risk. 

He is glad none he ran into fell into the later category until after his own powers were under control. In the beginning it was difficult enough to redirect blob ghosts. From what accounts of recent events of ghost attacks the ghosts Danny had been exposed to were much closer to the powerful and dangerous side. Ghosts that knew that they won’t be trapped in the mortal world with a stable portal to retreat to would not be so conservative in their attacks. 

Just what had Danny had to deal with seemingly on his own? He knows that neither of his parents could know of it. Jack would never be able to keep it a secret from him. Maddie would have show up in person to his home, his feelings be damned, if it was possible he could have a fraction of a clue about helping her son. Just how to approach this without having Danny bolt.  

“Danny, why don’t you sit down. You look a little pale. Have you had anything to eat since this morning?” Vlad asks. 

He gets no answer from Danny and begins to worry. He still seems overwhelmed with searching for some kind of threat. Can he not tell that Vlad is where the ghost feeling is coming from? He can’t remember how long it took him to get more than a generalized sense. He is going to have to go searching for his old notes. 

Danny is able to be coaxed into sitting, despite the obvious anxiety rolling off him, but does not seem to actually hear him. He sits with his back to the wall and facing towards the exits, keeping an eye on his parents. Who have been chatting at the other end of the room with some old classmates. Vlad notices Danny breathing a little fast and the slow self soothing rubbing of his arms has started. He needs to break whatever train of though Danny is stuck in now before it escalates. 

“Danny, everything is okay.” Vlad says softly. 

How does one even begin to try and ask let alone explain this? I know what you are going through as the accident when I last saw your parents also changed me into part ghost is crazy. How do you even start to explain that? Vlad clears his throat and tried to prompt Danny again. 

“What are you looking for?” Vlad tries asking.  

He still is not getting a response from Danny who still is scanning the room looking for some kind of threat he expects to be right there. Just how bad are they ghosts the boy has been dealing with? How often has he sensed something and been unable to find the threat before being attacked? It was bad for himself as a grown man, how much harder it must be as a teenager would be a nightmare.  

“Breath in for four, exhale seven.” Vlad tries.

He can see Danny try a stuttered breath in and out. The crowd that had been trickling in the gym is loud but Vlad can hear it when the wheezing breaths start to sound better. Danny is still looking for threats as he scans the crowd, eyes always going back to his parents. Have his parents as ghost hunters ever been involved? That thought strikes him cold. Later, he can deal with the thought of his old friends being ghost hunters and their son, and himself, being part ghost later. After he helps bring Danny back into the now and calmed down. Vlad steps in front of Danny to block his view of them. Grabbing a chair so he can sit down while still blocking the room from view without having to loom at the boy.Vlad gathers his courage and says something he never thought he would say. 

“There is no other ghost hiding, it is me. I am the ghost you can feel.” Vlad bites out with as much confidence he can muster. 

Danny’s head jerks to stare at him. His eyes flickering neon green. Finally seeming to notice they are no longer standing but sitting at a quiet table. 

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Danny’s voice cracks.Note quite able to mask it as uncertainty instead of fear. 

“You are trying to find the other ghost you can sense.” Vlad says. 

He allows his eyes to flash the bright red from his other form. Letting just a little bit of his ghostly nature come forwards. Danny tenses up immediately at that. The boy bristles in that inhuman way only ghosts can as emotions change the physical body to match. The eyes are always first with them glowing a faint neon green instead of flickering between when he had been uncertain and trying to hide it. The facial features are next sharpening as teeth become fangs to hiss out a warning to Vlad. 

“Who are you and what are you doing to Vlad?” Danny angrily growls at Vlad.

For a moment Vlad is so ver touched that despite only having started to get to know him, Danny is jumping to help him. A little bit of his core warms at that thought. 

“I am not being overshadowed. The accident with the portal had a few permanent changes that did not show up until after I got out of the hospital.” Vlad said. 

He could tell Danny was not believing a word he was saying and why should he? After all, from what little he could gather over the years they were almost impossible. It was what he had jumped to also. Yet, the moment the accident with the portal was brought up  Vlad could see the change. That sharp inhale and holding of breath as it struck a chord. 

“Give it a go. Reach in and you will not find another in this body. It is my own.” Vlad says as he opens his arms. 

He knows that Danny will not believe him without proof. He had not believed it without proof. It is luckily that in this instance proving he is not being overshadowed is easy to provide. 

“Go on. It will take just a moment to prove that I am telling the truth.” Vlad encourages. 

It is not hard to see the conflict on Danny’s face. Try it and he could just be setting him up to an attack at close range. The suspicion of a potential trap warring with the glimmer of hope. Darting quickly the Danny takes a step forwards out of the chair and rached for Vlad. His arm turns translucent as it reaches towards and then into Vlad’s chest. It passes through up to the wrist easily before Danny stumbles unexpecting the lack of resistance before yanking his hand out. 

“How?” Danny breathlessly asks. 

“Going by the lack of a hospital stay, likely much slower and drawn out than your own accident with a portal.” Vlad answers.

My Godfather’s Cousin’s Wife’s Brother. (Once-Removed)

Canonically, John Constantine's sister is a Masters. She married into a family with that last name.

Uncle Constantine AU, where Danny gets (literally) dragged to one of Vlad's family get-togethers. It's the first one Vlad has attended since becoming a halfa, and he wants to show off Danny. John catches sight of them and is immediately concerned about why his in-laws are covered in death magic. Becomes more concerned as he watches the dynamic between them: the controlling nature of Vlad and the barely hidden contempt from Danny. 

Time to get to the bottom of this. Might be a good idea to check up on their home environment, see what's going on there. He is an occult detective, after all. What's the point in that if he doesn't even look after his own family?

Danny, of course, does not trust anybody related to Vlad, no matter how sympathetic to ghosts they may seem

Superpham AU (part 6)

Lois prides herself at being good at rolling with the unexpected. Unfortunately, all of her experience with aliens and supervillains and magic has not prepared her for Danny.

Danny has a disconcerting habit of dropping disturbing or traumatizing information in an off-hand way, seeming to not even realize the implications of his own words. It started with what he said about the dimension he'd grown up in discriminating against people with powers, then with what he'd said about the red son and the lack of superheroes, but it just keeps happening.

Lois tries not to call attention to it, because she prefers it to the alternative, which is Danny shutting himself up in his room and refusing to talk to any of them.

Lex Luthor is on the nightly news-- as he so often is-- and Lois has to explain the man's many crimes to Danny. (No, Jon, it is not a rant.)

"Oh," Danny says. "He sounds like Vlad."

"Vlad?" Lois asks.

"Yeah, Vlad Masters. He's my godfather. He's a total fruitloop who wanted to marry my mom and make me his son."

Lois carefully does not react. She wants Danny to tell her things. She wants to know what his life was like when she wasn't in it. "That sounds..."

"Yeah, he tried to clone me. Well, I guess he succeeded, but none of them were stable except for Ellie, and she wasn't really that stable to begin with."

"Ellie?"

"Yeah, short for Danielle. She went by Dani-with-an-I for a while, but she decided she wanted her own name."

That is not the part Lois was looking for clarification on. She goes with it anyway. "Tell me about her," Lois says, and tries not to be concerned about Danny’s descriptions of a teenage girl who apparently lives and travels on her own because she doesn't like to be stuck in one place. Ellie doesn't even get the full benefit of being quarter Kryptonian, living in a world with a red sun.

The four of them are sitting down to dinner-- pizza again; one of them should probably cook sometime this week, but Lois and Clark are both on deadlines-- when Clark asks Danny more about his adoptive family, the ones he grew up with.

He looks sad, the way he always does whenever his adoptive parents come up.   Lois can hardly blame him, when he lost them in such a sudden and traumatic way.  

"They're scientists," Danny says.  "Or they were.  They studied, um, the Ghost Zone and the things that live there.  They didn't really understand it at first-- they thought all the-- um, everything from there was evil and needed to be killed, but they learned they were wrong eventually."

Lois meets Clark's eyes and knows he is as concerned about what happened before that 'eventually' as she is.  Still, neither of them comment, not wanting Danny to clam up again..

Jon, however, has no such reservations.  "That's really messed up."

Danny shrugs.  "Yeah, kind of.  They came around, though.  And I think they blamed themselves for how bad the GIW got because they were the ones who designed the weapons."

"The GIW?" Lois asks, instead of what she really wants to know, which is: Your adoptive parents designed weapons to be used against beings from another dimension??? Did they know what you were? 

"Guys in White," Danny says.  "I don't think that was their real name, but they were from the government."

"Your parents built weapons for them?" Clark asks, his tone deceptively light.  "I thought they were scientists."

"They dabbled in a lot of things.  But they were fantastic engineers."  Danny segues into a story about some of the modifications his adoptive parents made to their car, which is a topic only slightly better for Lois's heart.

Later that night, Lois is sitting in bed, checking her emails on her phone, when Clark sits down next to her and turns on the white noise machine they keep on the nightstand.  (It's the only way to have private conversations when your child-- children-- have super-hearing.)

"I'm concerned about Danny," he says.

"No shit."  The more Danny tells them about the dimension he grew up in, the more Lois hates it.  "But there's nothing we can do now except be there for him."

"I know people who have traveled across dimensions, you know," Clark says.  "I could always ask for a favor."

"You won't," Lois says.  "Because if you do, I'm going to end up committing felonies in another dimension."  

Clark smiles humorlessly. "What makes you think I wouldn't be there with you?"

"Because you're a better person than I am."  Clark never believes her when she says that, but it's true.  Clark is a fundamentally good person.  Lois tries to be a good person, but there's a reason she's not a superhero.

Kon intended to stop by Metropolis several days ago.  Or at least call Clark back.  But he’d gotten sidetracked by an earthquake in Southeast Asia, and then by Dr Light causing problems in California.  

He gets a few hours of sleep back in Smallville, then remembers that he’d planned on dropping by Metropolis and meeting Danny days before.  He walks the last few blocks to Lois and Clark’s house— flying would be way too noticeable in their neighborhood— and lets himself in.  He walks up to the living room and spots Lois there, furiously typing on her laptop.  

Kon is man enough to admit, at least within his own head, that Lois kind of intimidates him. Sure, Clark is physically stronger, but there’s an intensity to Lois that Clark lacks.  She glances up at Kon, and even though she’s smiling, he still feels pinned under her gaze.  

Kon shifts uncomfortably, reminds himself that unless he turns into a corrupt businessman or something, he’s not actually in danger from Lois Lane.  

“You here to see Danny?” she asks.

“Yeah.”  Kon shoves his hands in his jacket pockets.  “I figured I should probably meet him.”

“He’s in his room,” Lois says.  “He’s not… It’s not a good day, but maybe he’ll talk to you.  He hasn’t exactly gotten the chance to be around anyone his own age since he showed up.”

Kon knocks on the door to Danny’s room.  

“Come in,” a voice calls from inside.

Kon’s first thought is that he looks more like Clark than Danny does.  Stupid; of course he does.  He’s Clark’s clone.  But then, Jon resembles Clark almost as strongly as Kon does, so maybe it wasn’t a completely stupid thought.

Danny is sprawled on his stomach across his bed, phone in his hand.  There’s a video playing on it— someone talking about the history of the Justice League— but he’s ignoring it, watching Kon with a wary expression.  The room is still as bland as it ever was; other than the clothes tossed haphazardly on the floor, there’s no sign a teenage boy lives here.

“I’m guessing you’re Kon?” 

“That’s me.”  They stare at each other awkwardly for a moment.  

“Have you actually seen any of Metropolis, or have you just been hanging out in here?” Kon asks.

“Lois took me shopping for some stuff,” Danny says.

“Okay, no,” Kon says.  “You have got to get out of this house.”  

“You don’t even live in Metropolis,” Danny says.  

Kon shrugs. “Doesn’t matter; I’ve spent more time here than you.” There’s an old-school arcade he’s been to a handful of times, and a couple of places to eat.  Anything has got to be better than Danny hanging out and brooding in this sad bedroom by himself.

It's a warm day outside.  The sun shines down on the two of them as they walk in near-silence toward downtown.  The awkward silence doesn't quite break until they're at the arcade, competing on an old racing game.  

"I don't think we have this one in my dimension.  The other dimension.  Whatever."  Danny says.

"Yeah?"  Kon speeds ahead of Danny in the game, just in time to cross the finish line.  Danny groans.

"Yeah, but this world doesn't seem to have Doomed, either," Danny says as they start another race.  "There's a lot of little differences like that."

"That's gotta be weird," Kon says.  

"Yeah, Clark kind of freaked out when I told him the sun there was red."

Yeah, Kon can see why.  They talk more as they play more video games, and Danny tells Kon about his friends and what they'd do when they were hanging out in his hometown of Amity Park.  The main people he talks about are his best friends, Sam and Tucker, and his older sister, Jazz, but he mentions a few others.  

"Wait, who is Ellie again?" Kon asks, after Danny shares a story about a prank she pulled on another kid at Danny's school.  They've left the arcade, and are hanging out at the diner a few blocks away.  It's not the coolest place-- in fact, it looks like a grandmother decorated it-- but Clark introduced Kon to it, and it has great food.

"Oh, I didn't tell you?" Danny asks.  "She's my clone."

Kon chokes a little on his soda.  "You have a clone?"

Danny is probably being paranoid.

Scratch that, he's definitely being paranoid. Lois and Clark have been nothing but nice, and they're clearly used to weird things happening. Like, even aside from the whole alien superhero thing, Lois just saw a kid fall out of a portal and decided to help?  Plus, Clark is an actual superhero.  

Even his— the Fentons came around on the whole “ghost powers” thing.  Eventually.  But he’s gotten used to hiding, to trying to blend in.  

(And what had them accepting him done for them in the end?  They’re dead, the GIW killed them.)

He’d rather hide than suddenly discover that Lois and Clark aren’t cool with their long-lost son being half dead.

Some of his powers he can pass off as Kryptonian— super strength, flight, enhanced senses.  He knows Lois saw his ghost form, and though she hasn’t asked about it, he’s pretty sure it’s just a matter of time.  

These thoughts circle through his mind over and over, only leaving him temporarily when he’s hanging out with the Lane-Kents.  

His bio family.  

That’s not much better, though; there’s a sadness in Lois and Clark’s eyes whenever they look at him, although they try to hide it.  Jon just a kid, and clearly doesn’t know what to make of the whole situation.  Lois keeps saying they are going to introduce him to more people, especially people his own age, but Danny shies away from that.  He doesn’t want to meet more people.  He doesn’t want to get comfortable here.

Still, he’s glad he came out with Kon.  An afternoon of videogames and greasy food hasn’t solved any of his problems, but it’s a nice break, and Kon has already promised to introduce Danny to his friends— a whole team of teenage superheroes.

“I can’t get over how many heroes there are here,” Danny says.  “Like, why do you even need that many?”  Sure, it would have been nice to have some more backup when he was Phantom, but in this world there seems to be at least one superhero for every major city, plus some extra.

Kon shrugs. “Natural disasters, alien invasions, supervillains, street crime… No one can handle all of it.”

Out of all the things he’s encountered so far in this dimension, this might be Danny’s favorite.  Even more than the proven existence of aliens.  Back home, Amity Park needed Phantom, even if they hated him.  But the world here doesn’t need Phantom.  

It’s kind of freeing, and Danny hates it.  He doesn’t want to like anything about this dimension more than his own.  

Would it really be that bad?  You might be stuck here forever, a little voice inside his head whispers.  

He ignores it.

I can't express how much I adore godfather!Vlad aus because there is literally so much you can do with that concept, but one particular idea that I love is that Vlad himself doesn't know he's Danny and Jazz's godfather either. None of them know when they're the literally the central people involved in the topic, and don't get me wrong I love Jack and Maddie but I just,,, I can't-

They're at like, idk a family dinner Vlad invited himself over for because he's just Like That, and they're talking, and Maddie says something like "well I suppose it's good that Vlad's living in Amity now, since he is your godfather, after all"

And Vlad starts choking on the food he was eating at the same moment Danny does a HUGE spit take right onto Jazz

And poor Maddie looks at Jack pleadingly, "Jack, dear, you did tell the kids he was their godfather, right? Like, years ago? When I said they should know?"

And Jack just like, "aha... whoops..."

And poor Vlad, "WHAT ABOUT ME I'M THEIR EFFING GODFATHER AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME??????"

HUNTER Au. But with valerie as phantom n danny as a hunter!!!

Ok what if vlad's plan at the reunion still failed because of jack. Danny not being phantom is none thw wiser to vlad being a ghost.

Events continue but definitely not the same. The portal was not completed by the time reunion happen. So vlad co buys out Valerie's dad's workplace. With fentons working there.

Valerie ends up becoming a half ghost do to a mishap. A sabotage that was actually planned by vlad but he didnt plan for one of his employees daughters to visit. (Explaining this poorly i is)

Valerie being half ghost is pissed at the fentons for what they done. And makes it known while trying to get a grip of her powers n ghost problem around town.

Fentons end up dying and vlad has perfect outlet to blame murders on. The new little heroine.

Only one who didnt die was danny.. and under his godfather he has a way to fight ghosts...

Vlad's completely amused and pushes the boy to get rid of that girl who destroyed his gamily.. unbeknownst the ghost who did was right there.

School life valerie feels bad for danny n apologizes to him. Danny n Valerie get along like they did in show.

But its flipped. With danny hating her alter ego, n valerie unable to blame him for it. But soon learns vlad is the mastermind.. which fuels her rage more because danny is being played like a pawn.

Idk if i explain it well but idea free for anyone uwu. Basically valerie is the ghost hero n Danny's the hunter.

Ooo imagine her colors still being mainly red.. maybe red hair instead of inverted to white.

Danny being green hunter. Well probably a cooler name but color scheme green still.

Also can see danny being terrified of ghosts but after his family is taken, he thinks his parents are right n has to stop the ghosts.

Vlad not having bonded with danny over being half ghost n this girl is more of a nuance than worth keeping, he's just amused. Though still cares for the boy but more as a momento or trophy of maddie. Maybe still trying to clone her n the basement hidden part of the lab.

Oooooo danny unknowingly building majority of or fixing majority of Vlad's machines. His blueprints being used for more dastardly things.

So when the reveal happens its very climatic!

Valerie is captured and about to be taken out. Vlad is revealed and danny just stands n horror realizing what he done... what vlad has done... who valerie is...

And like always, vlad under estimates the ppl around him. And danny is done being a pawn. Him n valerie team up. Only to talk as sun rises up.

Danny sitting on hoverboard as she floats next to him.

"So what are you going to do now? Sniper?"

"..I.. i don't know. Vlad's my guardian but... i don't know. They won't keep me from him. There is nothing i can do to prove he's.. and that he killed..."

"Don't worry hover boy, we'll find out a way. He won't get away with this."

"We? After I tried to-You should hate me!"

"Tch. You were just trying to avenge your family. I would have done the same for less."

"Still doesn't change the fact that-"

"Danny. Only person I hate right now is Vlad. He put us up to this! You. Me. Your parents. He's to blame.. besides. I know how sweet you are in person. You would never hate someone without good reason. " putting a hand on his shoulder.

Danny sat there quietly as he glanced over at Valerie. He smiled weakly, "You're glowing."

"Pfft. What else is new, Fenton?"

"Also just realize red is definitely your color. "

"Glad to hear because its not like i can change it. Unlike you. Green is not ur color."

"Hey! Why not?"

"You always look more blue to me."

"Great at pointing out my trauma n depression ms. Wraith."

"Not what i meant," she rolled her eyes with a grin and shoved him lightly with her shoulder. "No blue like water and the sky. "

"Sky is refraction of water vapor-"

"Danny!"

"Okay okay ill stop."

....

"We should get someone to house you."

"Like who?"

"Well there is a certain fanboy-"

Bitter Reunions Au/Thoughts

Stars above, does thinking about this give me fun ideas! Ah, I need an au name. Two ghosts and a dragon? Astrotech dragon? I like that one.

Jack canonically mentions to the kids he hopes Vlad has forgiven him, which means he knows Vlad blames him. So, what if there’s some elaboration in that he refused to let them visit during his hospital stay, only receiving letters, and they respected that. They sent him an invitation to their wedding, and he decided to never speak to them again out of his Vlad brand rage.

Electric vampire Vlady senses a spirit nearby but can’t find them and decides it’s best left for a later investigation. A fun lead up to a fun reveal.

“What are you doing in my castle?”

“Hate to break it to you but this castle belongs to Vlad Masters. Ya know it’s considered rude to menace someone’s guests.”

Vlad rolls his eyes and transforms with a dramatic, “foolish spirit, I a Vlad Masters. Now-“

Danny transforms in shock and Vlad.exe stops working for a second. They do the spider-man meme. It’s fucking wild.

Eventually getting their bearings, Vlad invites Danny into a room for a talk. He spins a tale about the vultures while a duplicate handles them. Danny mentions the portal, and Vlad tells him they should talk about it in the morning.

Vlad is absolutely livid at what Jack and Maddie have done, but he’s not alone anymore. So, he makes a new plan! After all, considering Jack’s ectoplasm exposure and emotional drive, he’d come back as a ghost anyway. Why not just humiliate him instead? A ghostly smear campaign while Vlad does his best to be the best godfather there is and possibly get into Maddie’s good graces that way.

Meanwhile Harriet Chin takes the opportunity to ask her old friends if she can interview them at their lab later. She heard in the news grapevine about the Fentons making some wildly amazing technology featured in Women’s Science magazine. They agree of course, and we set that lovely plot bunny down for later.

DP - PT AU - Never Knew

Phantom Twins AU where Vlad decides against inviting the Fentons to the reunion. He just... past all the vitriol & desire for revenge hid the pain of betrayal, by both of his college friends, not just Jack. It took him a while for it to click that if she had wanted to see him, then she would've & Jack wouldn't have been able to stop her. She was too great a force to be bullied like that. So, even Maddie's shine had dulled after so long apart.

As a result, he doesn't meet Danny or Dina as Fentons for a good while. However, he does meet them as Phantoms. After all, he's still a powerhungry motherfucker & would absolutely start his business in the Ghost Zone once he managed to steal the Fenton's plans for the completed portal.

That'd actually be the first time they'd meet. However, they wouldn't have the context of them all being halfas.

So, a few of his schemes still come about, but the twins only know that it's Plasmius behind them.

You may think that neither Red Huntress or the Ultimate Enemy would exist, but you'd be wrong. In actuality, they do. See, Vlad is aware of the Phantoms & they keep stopping his assassins from taking Jack's life. So, in his investigations, he purchases Axion in order to have a reason to go to Amity & gather information on them. When he learns of Valerie & her grudge against the male Phantom, he decides to pit her against the boy.

In Reign Storm, Vlad just suddenly shows up at the Fenton household &, because they've never met before & don't know each other's identities, everyone gets along great.

It's Plasmius that the twins have beef with afterall, not Vlad.

So, no one has a single effing clue how Vlad got ahold of the Ring of Rage or why he'd give it to Valerie, but figured that it was just some antique he found in his attic & got rid of.

While Vlad is there, he & Dina get along especially well.

This will be a Fusion AU, so Danny & Dina discover they can Steven Universe fuse here. Just like in the Fusion Twins AU, they try to keep it a secret to use it as their trump card.

In Million Dollar Ghost, Danny & Dina wouldn't have the context that Vlad is Plasmius, so they'd have no idea why Vlad was gunning for the Phantoms so much besides maybe being as ectophobic as their parents because of his past as an ectologist.

And, in Ultimate Enemy, he's still the twins' godfather, but in this situation, Vlad would only just learn of this, so because he doesn't know they're halfas, he's feeling a mix of awkward, excited to be raising children because he's always wanted them, & a little put off that he'll now need to be careful about his ghostly involvements in his own home.

However, because of their close proximity, Vlad would eventually discover that they are, indeed, halfas & this would lead to the future where Dan exists.

The difference would be when Past Danny needs to see Vlad, because he doesn't think to go see him, Future Dina has to tell him to do so.

There would be an explanation, but Vlad wouldn't tell Danny that he was a halfa in order to protect the boy & his sister from his past self. So, he just says that his Danny's ghost form fused with Plasmius.

Then, the rest of the episode continues.

As for Masters of All Time, Vlad is pretty much forced to visit the Fentons because he can't think of anyone else who could help him. However, instead of using Sam & Tucker as blackmail, he accidentally sneezes or coughs on them when they meet & that transfers it to them.

So, now Danny is forced to go find a cure while Dina stays to help. She & Vlad just talk idly as she helps nurse him.

Because Danny has no idea that Vlad is Plasmius &, therefore, no desire to go back in time & change things, he just asks Clockwork to let him watch the past to see if he can figure out what went wrong.

Because he's not trying to rewrite history, Clockwork allows it & the rest is history.

The rest of Vlad's schemes happen, but with little differences to continuity that prevents the twins or Vlad from learning that the other are halfas too.

Like, Infini-Map happens with Vlad demanding to be taken to his destiny & the map taking him to Dina like in the original AU, but here, he'd back away enough to not take her with him when he then demanded to be taken to what he deserved.

So, when they see Vlad Masters in the past, they think they're just seeing Vlad's ancestors.

Vlad still lets Vortex out, but then doesn't show up the rest of the episode.

As for Urban Jungle, it actually wasn't Vlad this time, but Mayor Sanchez that did it.

Finally, Phantom Planet goes much the same as in the original AU, but without Vlad being mayor & instead acting as the owner of Axion putting forward a plan to no longer need the Phantoms.

Master's Blasters would be Vlad's second ever direct attack against the Phantoms &, this time, because they don't have the same relationship that they do in the original AU, Vlad lets the Blasters attack Dina when she tries to help people even though she avoids getting in the way & doesn't try to fight ghosts.

Keep in mind, Vlad's primary goals end up being killing Jack &, later, beating the Phantoms.

Anyway, he makes it look like Plasmius was overshadowing Masters during the reveal & on it goes. Jack goes into space with both Plasmius & a Masters duplicate. It's there that the Master dupe lets out all Vlad's anger issues on Jack. Jack is devastated. He then leaves Plasmius in space, not because he knows he's Vlad, but because he's holding the world hostage. He takes the Masters dupe back to Earth, not speaking to him.

Then with Vlad escaping the path of the Disasteroid only to return later & discover that the Earth is fine, the Phantoms are worldwide heroes, he's enemy number one in literally every country, & businesses are ordering Specter Deflectors to avoid ghostly corporate espionage.

It seriously could not get much worse for him.

Episodes like Eye For An Eye, Kindred Spirit, & D-Stabilize do not happen.

5 years pass & Vlad has something of a mental breakdown due to isolation & work stress. He gets therapy & in a desperate bid to do something other than work, begins dating again & gets back into some of his older hobbies, such as dancing. It'd been one of his passions before the accident. Also, baking.

Using a little used power of his that he calls colorswap (it's a very underdeveloped & limited-usage shapeshifting-adjacent ability that only lets the user change their body's coloring), he'll change his hair to chestnut brown, his eyes to hazel, & give his skin a slight tan (this was actually his mother's exact coloring) before going out & creating a persona for himself that he calls "David Romanov" or Dave. When like this, he used the typical Upper Midwestern accent & more casual vernacular.

He becomes something of a serial romantic or fuckboy that can't keep a stable relationship during the next 5 years, going from one man or woman to the next. While technically bi, he has a vast preference for women & is heteroromantic, so men always end up being one-night stands with Vlad as the top.

As he practiced using colorswap more & more, he could do it more frequently & hold it for longer periods until he could perform it once every other day & hold it for several hours.

Then, one day, 10 years after Phantom Planet, he was in Chicago after a business deal when he spots one of the most beautiful women he'd ever seen in his life. Long midnight hair that fell past her plump rear, glittering ocean eyes that sparkled with intelligence, petite with an hourglass frame, gorgeous D cups, 44" hips, & heavily muscled in a way that brought to mind the Greek Amazons. How she managed such a combination was beyond him, but she was beyond attractive.

And she was looking right at him.

Vlad: "Dave Romanov."

Di: "Call me Di."

Vlad raised a brow.

Vlad: "Is that really your name?"

Dina: "Let's just say that my full name brings some unwanted attention."

Vlad: "Well, now I'm curious."

Di: "Maybe if you stick around, you'll figure out what it is."

Vlad smiled.

Vlad: "Maybe..."

They shook hands, then Vlad pulled her hand up & kissed the knuckle.

That night, Di took him to her appartment & after they'd finished... consorting... they were just laying there in bed. Vlad was trying to go to sleep when the woman beside him started mumbling something under her breath with a look of concentration on her face.

When he listened close, it sounded like formulas for something he couldn't recognize, but it sounded like chemistry.

Suddenly interested, he asked what kind of formula she was reciting.

Di said it was something new that she was trying to work out the kinks for before presenting it.

Surprise & a spark of fascination. "What sort?"

She glaced at him mischievously, "What do you think it is?"

Liking this side of her, Vlad went over what he'd heard in his head. "Is it supposed to modify hormones?"

She smiled at him. "That's right. I'm trying to figure out a puberty blocker that won't castrate you or lower your bone density like Lupron & other hormone blockers do."

Vlad leaned in, "Really? Tell me more."

They then got into an unusually civilized debate concerning the ethics of letting children get sex changes too early & giving them something that used to be used to castrate sex offenders.

Vlad's perspective was very left wing, while his lover of the night was resolutely right wing & backed her statements up with facts, statistics, & intimate knowledge of how chemicals worked.

Yet, it never devolved into a fight & Vlad was immensely engaged, finding her incredibly intelligent, charming, & very persuasive in her arguments. It was remarkably sexy, he thought.

Eventually, the topic meandered to another project of hers. An antidepressant that, if not entirely eliminated, at least severely lessened the likelihood of emotional blunting. As a man who had depression & experienced emotional blunting from his antidepressants, he could absolutely appreciate the idea of such an invention.

The conversation moved onto something else & they found themselves talking & joking together long into the night. Vlad couldn't remember the last time he had such an engaging conversation before finally falling asleep.

The next morning, Vlad woke up early, planning to get dressed & leave before she woke up like he always did after one-night stands.

But this time, he was reluctant to do so, finding that he'd enjoyed their time together much more than he had any of his other lays.

He sat down in the limo he called to pick him up & sighed both sadly & in relief as he let his original coloring take over before reaching into his pocket to pull out his box of cigarettes & lighter.

As he was about to light the cig in his mouth, he caught sight of a strip of paper sticking out of the inside of the box.

His brow furrowed in confusion as he pulled it out & inspected it.

On it was a cell number with a little heart, the words 'Call Me,' & the name Di.

Vlad didn't notice the fond smile stretching his lips, cig still in his mouth, as he wondered how she knew he'd leave so early, but his driver certainly did.

The millionaire glanced up to see Winslow's knowing smile & frowned to hide his expression, then went to crumple the number like he normally did these days when he was given one, but then he paused looking at it & remembering how much he'd enjoyed himself with her & how long they talked.

He folded the paper up carefully & slipped it back into his cigarette box before putting it back in his pocket.

When he went to light up again, he saw Winslow's face in the rearview again.

That damn knowing smile having turned into an outright grin.

Vlad: "What? It probably won't last. They never do."

He turned away, lighting his cigarette, but he couldn't help the slight pink dusting that came to his cheeks.

The truth of the matter was that Vlad was actually in Chicago to investigate what's been causing problems for his less-than-legal endeavors there. The business meeting was just a front so he could investigate in person. This all starts before meeting Di.

What he finds is a gorgeous ghost woman taking out his 'henchmen,' who honestly made him think he was looking at an angel when he first saw her.

She was shapely, with flowing, pearlescent white hair & lovely peridot eyes that glowed in the night like green moons behind her black domino mask. Though, her costume seemed familiar to him for some reason.

However, he quickly shook himself out of it & proceeded to attack her.

It was the basic witty, back & forth. That was when he learned that she was one of the mysterious goody two-shoe Phantoms that he'd fought before. Goodness, she'd grown! Which was unusual for ghosts & just made him wonder what she was doing so far from Amity.

Except, she was good. Damn good. Powerful too.

No matter what he tried, she countered him.

Many times, she'd nearly beat him & he'd be forced to beat feet or face defeat.

She also appeared to have a good grasp on strategy. She'd outsmart him frequently & Vlad couldn't help how attractive he found it.

At one point, he manages to get lucky & pin her to a wall.

Plasmius: "I've got you now, Kitten."

To which, she responded with a smirk before utterly flummoxing him by surging forward & kissing him full on the mouth, her knee rubbing against his crotch.

So surprised by this sudden turn & the electricity behind the kiss that he melted into it. Their lips & bodies moved against each other sensually, their tongues twining in a dance & their teeth clicking together. With this came heavy petting that left Vlad putty in the heroine's capable hands.

They made out like that for some time & before he knew what was happening, Plasmius was the one being pressed into the wall in front of him, his hands bound behind his back by ectoplasm & the Phantom woman's lovely body pressed into his back.

Phantom: "Now, I've got you."

Her words came out in a playful purr against his ear.

Vlad was struck by how underhanded & clever the move was. Suddenly realizing that she wasn't as much of a goody-goody as he'd initially thought.

And, sure, he'd managed to escape again, but even nights later, he couldn't get the feel of her body pressed against his or the fireworks that went off when they'd kissed out of his head.

Before long, he began to anticipate fighting the Phantom.

It eventually turns into a Batman & Catwoman scenario. Vlad realized that he had a Villainous Crush on this lovely little heroine.

When he eventually realizes this, he begins to openly flirt with her &, to his delight, she flirts right back.

But then, after meeting Di, he began to waffle about the 2 women before desperately trying to convince himself that neither relationship was really serious.

He'd even made an offer to the lovely Phantom while stroking her cheek with a hooded smile.

Plasmius: "Join me, my dear, & I'm sure we'll be able to explore much more... private avenues together..."

She'd giggled at him cutely before promptly putting him on his face, hands once more bound behind his back, ass in the air with her pelvis pressed into his rear & soft breasts pillowing against his back. He could feel her hand gripping his hair as it pushed his head down into the roof of the building they were on.

He'd flushed bright magenta at the submissive, suggestive position & the feeling of fingers in his hair, a thrill that he denied to himself rushing up his spine as he hardened in his pants.

She leaned down to whisper in his ear.

Phantom: "If anyone were joining someone, it'd be you joining me, Hotshot."

Vlad shivered hotly at the domination in her voice before shaking himself of the spell & getting free.

He simply could not deny how attracted he was to her.

Anyway, Vlad later decides to take Di dancing the week after meeting her. While she'd never gone before & he preferred dance partners that lived up to his expectations, he found that he didn't mind teaching her &, besides, she had a definite talent for it & an eagerness to learn that made teaching her easy & fun.

Several more dates came after that &, eventually, they agree that this wasn't casual anymore. At which point, the flirting stops between Plasmius & Phantom.

He does eventually learn Di's full name & he nearly gets whiplash from the realization of just how very small the world was.

Diana Fenton, the daughter of Jack & Maddie Fenton. The 2 who'd ruined his life in college with not only their negligence, but also their inability to remember that he effing existed.

Vlad was shook & it took him some time to process, but eventually he realized that his quarrel was with her parents, not her.

It wasn't until, one day, Diana suddenly called him 'Hotshot' that something occurred to him, but then he brushed it off, thinking it was impossible.

But he could never quite get it out of his head.

Slowly, Vlad learned more & more about Diana. She was going to school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, the Chicago Campus specifically, & that was why she was here in the first place.

He learned she enjoyed literature & violin. He even learned that she wanted a family of her own someday, but was waiting on the right man & as he slowly learned more, extending his time there more as he desired to know her more, he idly thought of possibly being that right man.

Days turned into weeks turned into a month together & they were suddenly going steady. Now, he felt guilty for keeping who he really was from her.

Still trying to protect his secret, he made a fake invention that he could wear while he told her an at least partial truth.

Vlad: "You see. I'm really-"

Dina: "Vlad Masters, billionaire businessman. I know."

Her voice was light & somewhat playful, but the realization that she'd known shook him.

Vlad: "H-how did you know??"

Dina: "It wasn't hard. Just a paletteswap. Let's just say that I have experience with this sort of thing."

While ridiculously hot, he couldn't help but wonder what else she knew & was just waiting for him to tell her himself.

Im not really ready to write it out, but i had this au floating around my head for a while. Pretty much about a year ish after danny's accident while danny and jazz are at school, the ghost portal just, explodes. Killing both his parents and destroys their house and most of their belongings.

Vlad (a relatively good guy in this au, having forgiven jack and is actually a close friend) had been named as jazz and danny’s godfather and took them in. He bought a house in amity and tries his best to help them through this mess even tho hes in way over his head when it comes to kids, especially mourning ones.

Danny blames himself for the explosion because he had taken upon himself to keep changing the filters on the portal because he knows jack often forgot to, but he was overwhelmed with ghost fighting and school and forgot to change the filters. Danny and vlad dont know the other is a halfa, which leads to shenanigans later on.

Danny has tried to look in the ghost zone but never found his parents there, so assumed they either never became ghosts, or didn't last long in the zone.( he hopes they just didn't become ghosts)

Vlad actually cares deeply about them and tries his best. Lots of fatherly vlad moments, as well as angsty teen 'your not my dad' moments. Danny eventually grows really close to him and he becomes like a 2nd dad.

Ah also, dash x danny. After he lost his parents dash sorta took a step back from bullying him and sorta left him alone. After some shenanigans where danny had to protect his classmates from an attack as fenton, some of the a listers started liking him and invited him to a party. At that party danny accidentally found out dash likes him, and decided to take advantage of that as revenge on dash.( he was in a bad place for a while)

They eventually fix things later, still ironing that out

So yeah, here’s the dp fic idea I was talking about.  I’m gonna post another one for funsies too since I found Charlie’s art, so that’s coming in a few minutes.  

Stars in his Eyes – A Reverse Trio AU with PitchPearl because I can

Sam; daughter of crazy ghost hunters, is turned into a halfa by the portal accident, uses her powers to help people, often gets in trouble trying to use them to help “just” causes (only to have it blow up in her face.  The equivalent to Danny in canon using his powers to get popular, and having things go wrong).  Still headstrong and individual, but not goth in this case.  Has a crush on Danny, but refuses to say anything about it.  First because of teenage issues, then because it would put him in danger (more than he already is as her friend, ofc).

Tucker; ubber rich goth techno geek who has no qualms in utilizing his wealth.  Still only has Sam and Danny as friends due to his “weirdness” despite his money, and the fact that he isn’t as shallow as he sometimes appears.  Totally content to sit back and let his money do the talking, but also down to earth with his friends and willing to stick his neck out for them.  Still a meataholic.  Replicates a lot of Sam’s parent’s ghost tech for their personal use, though doesn’t bother coming up with new designs.

Danny; shy, space geek Danny is less interested in joining the popular crew, because he has less to disprove as it were.  His parents are normal, very smart in their normal fields, so he doesn’t have to try and separate himself from the family embarrassment.  Able to pour more of his attention into his space and science studies, he’s even geekier about it than in canon since his mom and dad encourage his interest.  Because of Tucker’s wealth and their early friendship, often let Tucker “fight the battles” as it were, hence his more shy personality.  Respects Sam a lot, has somewhat of a crush on her, but unrealized/oblivious to that.  Turns out to be a really good shot with ecto weapons (due to his…telescope balancing skills?  Do these people even know how telescopes work?  w/e).  

Jazz; unsure what to do with her exactly.  She could still be interested in psychology, but on the other hand it would also make sense if she was going the traditional doctor route, or something else like that.  Has some friends, since she isn’t quite as overbearing (again, doesn’t have to make up for the family embarrassment, so it more relaxed and less uptight).  Gets on okay with Danny for the most part, though her overbearing tendencies do shine when it comes to their interactions.  Gets on much better with her parents, since they aren’t obsessively insane and support her goals in life.  

Vlad; favorite uncle to the Fentons.  While he was bitter for a while about losing Maddie, they all eventually worked it out (since he wasn’t in the hospital when they got together and married, and he wasn’t poisoned by ghost obsession).  His bitterness vanished completely when he got to hold Jazz the first time as godfather, and he is a good friend to the Fentons now.  Still rich, though not quite so ridiculously, as he is a shrewd businessman.  Disappointed that neither child is interested in the business world (unless Jazz is??), but has infected the entire family with Packers fever so that’s okay.  

Phantom; was a key part of the effort to defeat Pariah in his first reign.  While it was a joint effort, it came down to Phantom being strong enough to overpower Pariah (at his full strength no less) to take his crown and ring.  Instead of sealing him away, Phantom’s wail destroys (or reduces) Pariah, leaving his equipment as the prize.  Weary but triumphant, Phantom is then betrayed by his fellows who use his weak state to seal /him/ in the Eternal Sleep coffin.  They are scared, and Phantom just defeated a powerful ghost without (too much) backup, and they don’t want another Pariah on their hands, one they can’t stop.  (These ghosts later become the Observers, and do panic when they find Phantom has broken out.  Phantom is not interested in revenge.)  Phantom both understands their fear, but feels betrayed because he /wouldn’t/ try to rule the Zone, wouldn’t be cruel.  Bitter, but also determined to keep the Zone safe despite his exile, he pulls the crown into his core, fusing it with him so that it cannot be used again with the ring (or used by his fellows, who he no longer trusts), before they seal him shut.  Crown burns green normally, but blue when he’s using ice powers.  The conflict of ice powers and the flame crown hurt quite a bit, the coffin probably saving his afterlife as it kept him from falling apart as the incompatible powers mixed and stabilized.  The long sleep leaves him a bit unbalanced, but his goodness is strong enough that he is still not a danger to anyone (unless under attack, defending something precious, etc.).   Freed from his prison when Danny, under Nocturne’s influence comes to find the source of the powerful old dreams, unlocks his coffin (Danny’s imagination and dream power is flexible enough that he succeeds where Nocturne fails (or is too scared to try)).  Taken in by the star-eyed boy before him, Phantom unconsciously takes on some of his physical traits (though they were similar enough before anyway).  No one realizes Phantom is free for a long while, because he is just chilling, watching his human, and just trying to form a connection with Danny.

Possible that Phantom frees Danny from Nocturne’s influence, and no one but them knows this (Nocturne is furious his prize escaped his powers), but the way he did it left Danny with a bunch of Nocturne’s powers as his own.  Idea that Danny’s pupil, if you look close enough, is still filled with stars.  Phantom particularly likes staring into Danny’s eyes for long periods of time, to Danny’s discomfort most of the time.  Idea of Danny reaching into the night sky, and pulling it down around his shoulders like a cloak, the stars blending into his form again.

Danny keeps Phantom a secret, because Sam would try to attack Phantom to protect /him/, and Phantom so far has proved to be no threat.  He just…wants to hang around Danny, and he’s actually interesting, and maybe takes Danny up to see the stars once their trust is better, etc.  

Phantom does not have the rage ring, and in truth doesn’t want it.  He’s powerful enough, and doesn’t care for power anyway.  Maybe someone tries putting the ring on Danny, since he has lingering ghost powers, trying to get him to attack Phantom/get Phantom to prove he wants power and to take the ring, not realizing how fond of Danny Phantom really is.  Rage doesn’t have any effect on the even tempered Danny.

Uncle Vlad AU Ideas

Based off of this post. Just some small ideas for a larger phicc i’m planing to write.

He secludes himself from the Fenton’s after his accident at first. Always giving excuses as to why he can’t get together with them.

But eventually he gets lonely, he has a huge house but it’’s just him inside it. The stupid idea to kill Jack doesn’t ever take hold. I doubt Maddie would want to get into a new relationship after her husbands death, especially if he died via ghost.  She’d probably be more focused on revenge.

Maddie and Jack still think of Vlad as a good friend so when they find out that Maddie is pregnant Vlad is the first person they call to ask about being the godfather.

Vlad realizes this is the next best thing to having a family himself. Which do to being part ghost he isn’t even sure if he could have kids. He immediately calls them back telling them that he’ll do it. 

At the baby shower Vlad gets a mobile with little ghosts and two custom figures of the Fenton parents in ghost hunter gear. They love it and it goes right above what will be Jazz’s crib.

Vlad doesn’t help them with ghost hunting stuff for obvious reasons, not wanting to be outed as a half ghost. He uses the excuse of what happened in college with the proto-portal for why he doesn’t like working with ecto things.

Once Jazz is born and he holds her for the first time he swears to himself, on his life and afterlife, that nothing will hurt her. And once Danny is born he swears the same.

He doesn’t spoil the kids as much as one would expect, at least not with expensive things. He does make a lot of treats for them though, and takes them out to parks for walks.

He still hosts the school reunion, only because he was asked though. The Fentons still stay over as well, which is not uncommon but the first time they have since Danny got his powers.

Danny and Vlad still fight as ghosts but only because Vlad was ghosting around in his own lab and Danny’s ghost sense went off. Once he finds out that it was Danny he doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He reveals himself to Danny and starts teaching him about being a halfa. 

Shenanigans of the Fenton inventions working on both halfas ensue. 

Dan still happens but it stems from both Danny’s an Vlad’s grief.

Vlad still tries to become mayor of Amity Park, but he doesn’t overshadow people for votes. The people of Amity Park know Vlad by this point he’s been around since before Jazz was born. He wins the election fairly. 

When he hears what Spectra was going to do to Jazz and what she did to Danny, well Vlad isn’t as morally ‘pure’ as Danny.

Obviously the whole clone thing doesn’t happen, sorry Dani.

Vlad still gives Valerie the Red Huntress suit, for the purpose of helping Danny out, not hunting him.

“Hello little badger”

“Hello little badger I am a ghost fear me.”

“Hi uncle Vlad.”

“Hi uncle Vlad, I am a ghost fear me.” 

Cue laughter.

Jazz finds out about Danny the same way as she does in the show. When she finds out about Vlad she starts questioning her existence. Who else that she loves is a half ghost?

Tucker wonders who else is hiding a rich relative. Sam rolls he eyes, Danny points out that he’s not technically related to Vlad.

I really love your Michael Masters au! What's different in his relationship with the Fentons in this? Is he still trying to steal Maddy from Danny's dad? Is Vlad still evil, and does Michael work with him as a ghost even though he's friends with Danny's sister as a human? What is Danny's first meeting with Vlad and discovering he and is son are half ghost like in this?

Mike grew up knowing the Fentons. He’s best friends with Jazz and is like a big bro to Danny. Cause Vlad becomes more part of the Fentons life. He was originally like ‘yup gonna steal some Fenton inventions (less for evil and more for like ‘Sweet pumpkin my baby son is half ghost and Fentons inventions are functional and could help out). 

But lil Mike and Jazz get along and Vlad’s like ‘hnnng for my son’s happiness’. So Vlad ends up hanging out with the Fentons more and eventually gets worn down, mostly by Jack (Vlad’s hatred for Jack has been turn down to the lowest flame…for now). So Danny and Jazz know Vlad as uncle and godfather.

Vlad’s crush towards Maddy becomes low key. Like he still fancies her, maybe a flirt here and there, but doesn’t pursue her. I really dig the theory with the ghosts having obsessions and being driven by them like ex. Box ghost and his boxes etc. 

So instead of canon Vlad’s crush for Maddy and hate for Jack being the main drive. In this AU Vlad’s obsession drive is his son, which is basically take care and keep him safe, which can get to the extreme sometimes (overprotective Vlad here we come). Hmmm i wonder what Mike’s obsession drive could be >:3c 

Vlad isn’t like evil, but he ain’t fully good either. Vlad’s still a businessman, he will fight Danny if he gets in his way. So maybe he’s like true neutral in this AU. Michael does his own stuff and usually sits back and watches the show when his dad and Danny get into fights (alrighty but no killing each other, me and Danny got game night on Friday). 

Ok what I got so far-

So Bitter Reunions happens kinda similar. Though Vlad has been going low flame on his hatred on Jack (there’s a word i’m looking for but i all i got is blank), the 20 year reunion event ends bringing up the worst memories of the accident and Vlad decides to play some pranks on Jack, nothing too extreme. 

However, when Vlad discovers Danny is the Phantom he becomes enraged with Jack and the whole Jack possession scene happens. So Danny is like shocked that his uncle he known since like forever turns out to be a halfa, then the whole possessing his dad in rage happens and Danny’s like ‘okay we will deal with that later, first let’s stop Vlad going overboard’. Vlad even admits later  ‘Ok I’ve might of gone overboard a bit with this’.

I’m still trying to decide how Mike halfa reveal to Danny would happen like. Mike does finds out that Danny is halfa from Vlad before he goes off in rage after Jack. 

Hmmm how/when should the reveal happen? Does Mike just watch the whole fight between Danny and Vlad and reveal later just when Danny is about to leave? Or before Danny goes after Vlad? During? i’m still thinking about it. we’ll get there…

Brunch

The brunch meeting ended up being a huge scene, but not overly embarrassing. A table is knocked over when Jack and Maddie rush over to Vlad. Luckily it did not have anyone eating at it yet. The children trailing behind them stopped to right the table. Vlad is unfortunately too slow to offer the fudge before Jack sweeps him up into a crushing bear hug.

“We have been terrible friends. How could you ever forgive us!” Jack cries as he lifts Vlad off his feet in a hug.

“We should have questioned why you never responded after all these years.” Maddie says hovering beside them.

“Dad, put him down!” Jasmine shouts. 

“Yeah, I don’t think he can breathe with you crushing him like that.” Danny adds in. 

If he did not have to breath all the time this would be very uncomfortable. Jack pulls him into an impossibly closer hug before gently putting him back on the ground and releasing him. A glare from Maddie at the gawking people has them hastily avert their gaze. His clothes are now rumpled a little from the bear hug. Vlad straightens a little before stepping closer to the pair. 

“It is not all your burden to bear. Despite how close we had been, I never reached out either after the accident.” Vlad says a little apprehensive. 

His hands nervously clutch at the box of fudge as he makes eye contact with Jack and Maddie. This was the hardest thing he had done in a very long time. He was still coming to terms and processing everything that had happened. In just a few short days he had a fundamental part of his past cast into new light. His lack of responsibility in trying to maintain his part of their friendship was a new glaring issue he had ignored for far too long.

 Maddie’s eyes crinkle as she sweeps forwards with arms outstretched. Unlike Jack she waits for the moment for him to step closer.   

“I can’t express how much I regret not tracking you down the first day out of the hospital.” Vlad chokes out as Maddie pulls him into a hug. 

“I told myself so many things about why you might not want to see us anymore.” her voice catches a bit as she speaks.   

“We never were very good about confrontation when it was about emotions. Always ready to jump into a discussion about science and engineering and tear into that” Jack added. 

“It might take some time and it won’t be the same but I would like to be in your lives again.” Vlad says.

“You are always welcome.” Maddie says softly.

“You are practically family!” Jack happily shouts. 

The tension drops a little as Vlad really sees his friends ready to welcome him back into their life. Without the haze of hate from before clouding his judgment. He sees the laughter lines in Maddie’s face and the gray in Jack's hair. They are not college students working towards getting a doctorate. Life has gone on and his friends have changed just like he has. 

“Now I hope this does not spoil the meal, but I have something for you.” Vlad says, offering up the fudge box. 

“Oh, is that what I think it is?” Jack crows in delight. 

He bounds forwards and takes the box from Vlad. Maddie lets out a fond smile and begins to usher the group back to their table. 

“I had some help but I believe this is a very nice fudge.” Vlad says with a wink at Danny.

“Ohh! I have heard of Miss Martha’s Marviolours Fudge.” Jack excitedly says. 

Vlad starts to walk to the table the family had been seated at. There is already an extra setting at the table. His step falters for a moment before he catches a supportive look from Jasmine. She gestures with her hands forming a cube shape. Danny gives her a confused look as he pulls his father along. Stealing a breath he keeps walking to the place set for him. 

“It has been a long time but I hope you still enjoy them.” Vlad says. Pulling the rubix cube out.   

“Vlad I can’t believe you remembered that!” Maddie exclaims in delight. 

She takes the cube and immediately begins to twist and turn it to solve the cube in a matter of moments. Then resets it and begins to form a classic trick pattern. 

“Whoa. How do you do that so fast, I thought they were supposed to be hard to solve?” Danny asks his mother. 

The rest of the brunch manages to pass with little fanfare after that. Maddie shows her son how to solve it and explains the mechanics behind it. Jack scrawls on a napkin the attributes of the fudge and hashes out the new top ten. Laughter and joy is had as ten years worth of catching up happens over the course of the meal. They manage to only break one glass. It might just be the nicest morning Vlad has had in years.

Vlad is not sure what is worse, the look of hope on the boy's face knowing he is not alone, or the horror it turns into at the revelation of what Vlad implied by it being drawn out. He is not able to ponder for long as in typical timing Jack interrupts them. Dragging Danny away to meet another old acquaintance. Voice booming out another ridiculous nickname suited more for a teen than a grown adult as they disappear into the crowd. There is an almost hollow feeling to standing there after his most tightly kept secret was finally told to someone. 

It is hard the rest of the night trying to socialize for long enough for it to be acceptable to slip out early. Only getting glimpses of the Fenton family in the now crowded room. Drifting away from them to mingle and get his thoughts and emotions under control with frivolous small talk. The last hour has been a whirlwind and he has a lot to unpack in private and some very creative allegories to work out for his therapist. He is not quite ready to face any of the Fentons anymore tonight. 

It won’t leave him alone as he tries to talk about useless things like the frogeye salad at the buffet, how the gym still has the old mascot mural, and listens to people talk about their children when he can’t even remember if they were in his classes. The thoughts on his mind keep sliding back to what his old friends would do to him being part ghost. What they could do to their own son trying to understand.

What ghosts had they interacted with to colour their impressions of ghosts? Had they faced only the emotional blobs of animated ectoplasm that were the jellyfish of the ghost world? Leaving them thinking ghosts are just thoughtless creatures barely intelligent and driven by instincts. Maybe the half formed ghost animals that were next most common. He knows his first few encounters had left him with a poor insight to them. While the most populous of the ghosts he had encountered were not a true representation of what ghosts are in general. It would be like judging all the animals of a forest by just garden snails and slugs you find under one rock. 

Memories drift to his first few encounters with sapient ghosts. Ones that seem to line up more with the ominous phrasing of having to deal with the ghost from Danny. Had they faced any of the aggressive ghosts that were never human or living creatures before? The ones that don’t understand the fragility of life or danger they could inflict. Or almost worse the ones that were stuck in an endless loop of their death unable to understand what had happened and doomed to linger until they run out of energy and end. It was almost enough to make him actually drink tonight. He downed his fizzy mocktail almost wishing he could let himself have an actual cocktail, but no drinking never made things better for him. 

 Maybe he could try and introduce them to some of the more friendly and harmless ghosts he knew? Slowly get them to see the ghost animals when not aggravated and just acting the same in death as life. If he got it just right he could easily convince them to come visit as a favour for advice on their expertise in ghosts. Sighting that he is a bit out of practice after switching to business. After all his home is haunted by the Dairy King he could probably work out a deal with him to help slowly change their minds over the course of a few days. Then once they are in research and observation mode over hunting help ease them into it. 

The start of the plan begins to form from there as he watches the lights get switched from mingling with buffet food to the evening dance as the live band takes over. Miraculously the evening continues without any emergencies and he is able to leave without it looking odd. The last thing he sees before slipping out of the gym is a set of glowing green eyes and a timid wave. Vlad offers a very small wave of his own as his eyes glow red briefly. In the cool evening air he lets out a sigh. It is going to be a long night and he needs some time to unpack things with his therapist before he should make any actual plans.

Whoo, that was hard to get ironed out. I had to keep wrangling it back into place as I got Vlad's train of thought right. Next chapter or one soon will likely dip into Danny's or Jazz's POV. As always the Tags have my thought and stuff that would not fit into the post.

Concerns and Realizations

The next day passes in a bit of a blur up to the evening dance in the old high school gym. He almost does not know what to do with his plans all crushed and swept away with the revelation earlier in the week. Vlad feels himself being tugged along as if in a dream he had long ago thrown away. It is almost like when they all first meet and Vlad found some of the first people to take his racing mind and sharp tongue as interesting not off putting. 

He does notice that the Fenton’s son seems to be a little jumpy today. Glancing off at the ceiling, windows, and floor for some time before nervously going on with his time. Jack tells him aside away from prying eyes that Danny has been having some anxiety issues. Grades are dropping and he has become more accident prone to the point they bought an entire set of plastic plates and glasses. He has not been sleeping well with reports from teachers about him sleeping in class. 

He and Maddie are trying to be very thoughtful about approaching him as he had issues in the past with bullies. It has not been going well as the boy keeps dodging the topic every time they try to talk to him about it. They want him to know he can talk to them about anything and they will support him. It is why they brought him and Jasmine to the reunion. A chance at a break from school and seemed just the thing to help. 

Whenever he spots the boy it appears to get worse as the day goes on. What was easy to brush off as a nervous tick has become a real concern. By the evening Danny looks like he is expecting something to jump out and try to murder him. Vlad decides to try approaching Danny about it even if it is just to give him an excuse to get out of the Fenton’s smothering.

“How are you Danny? I can hardly imagine what you and the other children are very interested in watching all of us go about things from before you were born.”

The boy practically jumps, hands twitching towards something not there at his waist. 

“Uh, yeah. This is pretty boring you would think after a few days everyone would be caught up by now.” Danny nervously answers. 

“It has been quite a long time since many have seen each other. Not everyone can sum up a decade of time quickly.” Vlad says. Allowing the deflection to stand. Danny seems to be calming down a little. 

“Say, do your parents still go on ghost hunting trips or did they stop after graduating?” Vlad asks in curiosity. Ghosts and the portal had become a taboo topic since the revelation earlier in the week. As soon as Vlad finishes asking Danny gets a long stare as if seeing something in the distance.

“Not too often anymore. I mean they don’t need to go someplace to hunt ghosts anymore. Now with Amity being so haunted since the portal opened.” Danny bitterly says. 

“They actually got the portal to work!” Vlad exclaims in surprise. 

“Yes, have they not gone over their greatest scientific breakthrough with you yet?” Danny answers with a surprised look.

“I don’t think they want to talk about it as it is close to the accident.” Vlad responds mind racing. 

How did they get it to work? He had tried over the years to get a version of the portal to work himself. Tried different locations of thin spot to connect to it. After his powers started to manifest in a bid to get answers. It never worked. Not so much as a spark. Let alone something stable if it is causing an entire town to be haunted. His latest project to work was a short range tracker of sorts to locate the echos a natural portal left behind. It is how he was able to find the ghosts he had initially hired. Shaking away from that though he looks back at Danny. 

“That is surprisingly emotionally intelligent of them.” Danny says. 

“Did they ever get through the stabilization issue?” Vlad asked in curiosity.

“It just sort of stays open. They had to build a blast door to keep it sealed off. I am not sure how it stays open.” Danny responds.

“Fascinating.” Vlad says. 

"I just wish it would keep the ghosts from coming through. Been weeks since I got to sleep without the alarm going off that something has come through." Danny sighs out.

"Ghosts have been coming through that regularly?" Vlad asks in curiosity.

Most of the natural portals he had gotten to study rarely let things through even the ones that stayed open for a week.

"It is like nearly every other day. Sometimes every day something even just an ectopus comes out. I just want to not have to deal with them so much " Danny says.

"Deal with them? I am surprised your mother has not caught enough to cataloged them in a scientific paper yet. It was always her dream to get tangable proof of ghosts." Vlad says.

"Yeah by ripping them apart molecule by molecule. I am sure eventually they will if they could keep them from escaping. Kinda hard to catch something that can slip through solid objects." Danny says turning away a bit.

Vlad nearly flinches at this. One hand going to grip his wrist as memories of the hospital surface. A slow bubbling horror of what his newly renewed friends would do if they found out he was part ghost. It would not even be on purpose. Just can you do this test Vlad? Only a little blood to look at under the scope. The panic spiral screeches to a halt when he sees the self soothing gesture that Danny is making.

Stepping closer to him in concern while shoving down his own fear to process latter he feels it. That flush of warmth that signals a ghost is nearby. Tensing he scans the room stepping closer to Danny. There should be no ghosts here. Had one of the ghosts he hired decided they were not happy with payment? It increases as he steps closer again to Danny. As the boy shivers and breaths out and a cloud of frost despite the warm room. That is the final missing puzzle piece that clicks into place for Vlad.

~ Sorry for the abrupt end to part four. I just needed to update it now despite the end not being quite where I wanted it to be. Better done than perfect~

It took a long while but I finally got the next part of Good Goodfather Vlad done. Had to stop trying to force it into the next part and just let it have a moment. Sorry it took so long to update comparted to the previous parts. Going to start working on part 5 next week.
