the way that guardians vol 3 completely broke me and had me crying like 10 times i kid you not, and obviously it was because there was some really heart wrenching stuff in there but it was also because there is something so so sooo bittersweet about ‘white void’ scenes before a character dies and the way that rocket with tears in his eyes asks if he can join lylla, floor, and teefs in the afterlife to watch the sky together forever like he’s scared they’ll say no or that he may be being tricked and the option could be taken away from him, but of course lylla says yes and the relief and comfort that rocket probably feels in that moment is so emotional to me, his first found family, the ones that helped him find his name, who he shared his dreams of the sky with, they didn’t hold what happened to them against rocket, they still love him and will always love him

(im totally definitely not still fragile about this movie and don’t tear up when i think about it haha what are you talking about)

Just saw guardians of the galaxy vol 3 (I’m late to the party, and spoilers) and I may just be hysterical and delusional after crying for hours over Floor but I think there’s significance in the ending song and Rocket as a whole.

Rockets big character arc is that he’s finally finished running, and the first song that plays on his new iPod as captain is Dog Days, where the chorus sings “So you better run/ run fast for your mother/ run fast for your father/ run for your children/ for your sisters and brothers”.

Previously, Teefs and Floor died because Rocket stayed to get revenge for Layla, while Floor begged him to leave. This led to the death of Teefs and Floors and, ultimately, Rocket was haunted by her words and spent the rest of his life running to make up, carrying the key he built to break them out of their cages.

The song choice signifies that he has made peace with his mistakes, that he has finally completed a life long character arc and can move on, dancing to the song and knowing his friends are waiting in the afterlife.

Anyone else feel kinda weird seeing fanart of Rocket, Lylla, Teefs, and Floor in the forever beautiful sky without their cybernetics? It was a conscious choice for them to still have them when Rocket spoke with them during his near death experience. Lylla, Teefs, and Floor canonically STILL HAVE their cybernetics in the sky. At least to me, it shows that disabled people are not imperfect. “Fixing” them in fanarts of what is essentially heaven feels really weird.

Like it’s one thing to headcanon that they no longer feel pain after death, but they have those modifications for pretty much their entire lives. It’s not bad that Teefs uses wheels to get around. It’s not bad that Floor has robotic legs to help her walk, or that Lylla has prosthetic arms.

The HE may have had malicious intent when he operated on them, but that trauma (physical and mental) does not decrease their value as living beings. The evidence of what happened does not need to be scrubbed away in order for things to be perfect.

TLDR: batch 89’s cybernetics are a part of them, and I don’t like seeing fanart of them looking “perfect”.

That’s just my perspective though. This is one of my takes where it’s so personal that I would rather you just make your own post (like seriously if you do don’t even mention me or this post) instead of replying to me if you disagree.
