also also not to be unhinged about arifer but takahara in og s1 with the shard of the night dagger?? him swearing up and down that he'll do it if he has to. he'll kill luc.ifer if he has to. he holds onto that knife like a lifeline. he even gets close. the blade is just a hair away from his throat. he calls it a warning. in og s2, the time to use it actually arrives. he needs to kill luc.ifer and absorb his lifeforce into the blade, and he hesitates. he hates himself for hesitating, but is relieved beyond words when he is interrupted. in nb, he doesn't have it. in his hands is an unremarkable rapier he picked off a suit of armor in cocy.tus hall. that is what he uses to stab the perfectly crafted illusion of luc.ifer trying to kill him. he hesitates, but he is alone, and he doesn't have time. he needs to stab it again to see if it truly has eyes. to see if it'll breathe with holes in its lungs, to see if its illusion of a heart will beat or stop just to torture him a bit more. he doesn't have time, but he stops to look at it. to hold it. he can't help himself if he grasps its cold, seemingly dead hands like a lifeline, as if starving and desperate. as if he were clinging onto the real thing. he needs to know if there was even anything trying to kill him or if it was all in his mind. he never finds out, eventually overtaken by the panic of being chased and forced to leave. he comes out of the water covered in blood. he doesn't know whose it is. later on though, he discovers that he doesn't have blood at all anymore. after all the problems resolve themselves, takahara goes home. there, he finds enough peace and quiet for the nightmares of his delayed victory to seep through

You’re all getting another unpromted headcanon dump because I’m very personally tired of the “Mario would hide his struggles and trauma post Movie from Luigi because he doesn’t want to look weak and keep up the appearance of the Strong Older Brother” take. Don’t Eldest Daughter Syndrome Mario. He and Luigi are a team. A pair. He would tell Luigi everything.

Anyway here’s everything I think Mario personally struggles with and would rely on Luigi for

The Mario movie put it very blatantly on the table that Mario’s a little touchy about his height. It’s probably more so because he’s use to being picked on as The Short Guy on the sports team rather than it really actually bothering him all that much. He’s just assumes someone calling him short is an insult. The only personal problem he has with it is being shorter than Luigi. They spent a lot of their childhood the same height, and Luigi being taller still messes them both up from time to time

This is another left over from Highschool; Mario and Luigi (accidentally) kind of fell into the trope of the Smart twin and the Sporty twin, with Mario being the ladder. This messed with his head in a way he couldn’t really articulate, being expected to be a Meathead like the other guys on his sports teams did actually cause his grades to go down, especially in Math which use to be his best subject, which of course caused a lot of concerned backlash from their parents, especially his dad. Now he has it locked in his brain somewhere he’s stupid when he’s not.

He’s bad with people. Luigi’s a lot more of a people person than he is. He has a hard time connecting to people, or making simple small talk. He can be pretty blunt, or awkward, and maybe a bit aggressive sounding, especially to someone not use to how loud and confidently he speaks. As he gets older he gets quieter, speaks less, falls into a much more comfortable selective mute life style, and it suits him much better than trying to fumble through talking to people. He prefers to listen

He’s definitely a workaholic, he’d gotta be busy busy busy all the time. A lot of people will see him run from one project to the next, never turning down a request for help with something, constantly juggling tasks and working on something in his spare time and think it’s all because he’s such a nice, hard working guy. But no. It’s the stress of not doing enough. Or because he anxious being alone. Luigi’s the only one who knows Mario will keep going till he crashes, and is the one to always stop him and remind him he’s doing enough, he’s enough. Take a break.

Mario’s always struggled with separation anxiety. He’s never been one for the whole concept of “alone time”, he’d much rather be near people he loves and trusts and can relax around. He use to joke it stems from being born first, those few moments before Luigi was born was more than enough alone time for a life time. He tries to wave it off occasionally, but it really is a problem. If he is ever left alone, say Luigi goes off on some grand adventure without him, he finds things to work on until he passes out, and then just sleeps and lays about until Luigi comes back.

oh my god i have so many WEIRD self-projection tv show monkees headcanons that I feel like i’d get yelled at for having but like, it’s all about stuff that I’ve done or literally do and cannot help. sometimes i want to share them and then freak out about backlash but i feel like any backlash would just be from ableist people.

utterly consumed by how in s3 the main issue with mike is that he's unhealthily obsessed with el to the detriment of everybody who knows them, inculding the two of them, and then in s4 the main issue with mike is that he's literally going out of his way to not give el anything more than the bare fucking minimum of affection.

he somehow manages to ignore everyone else in favour of el... and then also ignore her??? even in s3 when he's devoting all his attention to her he doesn't pay any heed to her needs as an individual, or spend any time with her doing stuff that isn't making out. he does still hang out like normal... with his other friends. but not with el??? not even movie night dates in front of the TV??? and then in s4 he's progressed to straight up avoiding thinking about her when he isn't face to face with her??? throwing away her letters???

#i love joe i do #but the fact that i can hear his snoring through earplugs closed doors AND while in a separate room is #its takin a toll #i think its getting worse tbh but i cant like tell for sure bc its always been super bad and loud #before people start ab sleep apnea: healthcare is a nightmare rn and he doesnt seem to want to see anyone ab it #which. idk i guess its not that serious?? the most it affects him is i dont sleep in the same room anymore #bc i have real bad misophonia and snoring is one of Those Noises #plus like even if they invent the worlds best earplugs that block out all sounds forever #he snores so bad it vibrates the mattress #so... now we got our own sleeping spaces #but hes still like snoring really bad #connecticut was kind of hell bc theres only so much anyone can do #he's also a very heavy sleeper so its not like i can wake him up #and im a very light sleeper #so even when i go to bed first and get to sleep alright when he comes in or lays down i wake up #we've tried like #a wedge pillow some weird mouth guards this chin trap thing some nose strip things #i do genuinely think its sleep apnea so we need a cpap machine i think but those are expensive as fuck #and im not even sure if you can get one without a diagnosis?? #well. thanks for reading my vent #i promise our marriage and relationship is fine and tbh better than a lot of other people we know's... #its just this one thing #:(
