My personal (and favorite) Gourmand theory is that they went DOOM mode on the red lizard population and singlehandedly made them become endangered on the facility grounds.

My evidence? Notice how every slugcat before them on the timeline - Spearmaster, Artificer, and Hunter, each encounter red lizards in their campaigns. Only in the campaigns of Survivor and Monk - which come directly after Gourmand - are they absent. They do reappear in Rivulet and Saint, but those both seem to take place in the far future. It took that long for the population to recover from the hell Gourmand wrought upon them.

#this applies to other hardmode creatures like red centipedes & spitters too. I keep replaying the demo every few months or so, there's just so much to see and I'm sure I haven't seen anywhere close to all of it yet.

This time around I didn't tell anyone about the mark (Adrian always rats me out to Merlin and loses my trust), but because no one knows about it Arthur made it clear he wants MC to tell Merlin about it.

So not telling people is probably a bad thing, right? Like my character doesn't trust anyone, but seeing how Arthur reacted to it I'm thinking maybe not telling anyone is dooming MC? Demons gonna kill them probably.

Yeah, it's a supernatural demon mark caused by the MC's apartment becoming a literal Hellmouth so... that's going to go about as well as can be expected in the situation.

But hey, good thing that at least some players are seeing that path!
