I went to the aquarium with Inoueー‼️‼️

We finished work early so we went to the aquarium！

Plus this aquarium、was near our dorms for our audition training camp

So when we walked past it I said to Inoue

「If we pass let's go someday」

And now…‼️

And we didn't have any plans to go today、so we decided spontaneously to go when we were on our way home！

I'm really！really！really！

Glad we went！！！！！！！！！

It was amazzzzzing‼️‼️

First we went to see the fish、and we found a tunnel！

There were so many animals that I'd never seen in the aquariums in my hometown❗️

There were penguins and earless seals and fur seals and otters and octopus and sharks！🦈🐙

They were all so cute and I loved watching them all〜

Oh and、the aquariums in my hometown aren't that big so there were lots of fish that I'd never seen before

But Inoue often goes to quite a large aquarium so Inoue surprisingly knew a lot about fish😲

We saw a shark

And I said

「I wonder if it's a hammerhead shark〜」

She immediately answered

「No、I've seen a hammerhead shark before and this one looks different」

She was so cool。

Plus we got lucky and we were able to sit and watch the dolphin show！

We got there in perfect time so we were able to buy some food to eat while we watched it！

By the way Inoue had salted popcorn🧂

When I asked her why she said

「I guess I want salt because I'm at an aquarium」

Which I understood but I ordered a hotdog🌭

The dolphin show was just amazing…

It was my first time watching a dolphin show but it made me so emotional I teared up…

I've decided I definitely want to go and watch it again、it was really good。

We also visited the souvenir shop and took photos and had our photo taken and printed by the aquarium staff…

I feel fully refreshed！

It was so much funー！！！！！！

We've achieved a small goal of ours☁️🫧

Ok I know I’ve been a hater of sorts for weeks now but like!!! It’s a frustrating thing!!! I keep rehashing and articulating my problems with it in the hopes I can feel better about it but idk friend!!!

I was having a conversation earlier about how so many of us believe “the swimming anime” would benefit from having less swimming in it, and as wild as that sounds, it makes sense in consideration to how we’ve understood the show and its characters up to this point. (Hold on lemme pull up some of that rant from the DMs)

Isn’t one of the original key tenets of the story that there’s life outside of the pool, and the reason swimming really means something to them in the first place is because of how it honors all that they are and what matters to them in other parts of their life?? Haru has a love for water because engaging with it in different ways (sensory seeking, symbolism, etc) centers him, and it’s such a pervasive and present part of nature that the familiarity of it everywhere helps him better understand and process the world around him. It’s how he ponders the movement of time and how attitude dictates free will: the idea of nature being powerful enough to cause delight or destruction but ultimately if you respect it in your dive forward, the water’s fangs are less scary, and you have the freedom to continue forward with your own level of control within it. He understands his friends better by the ways they engage with water — being scared of the ocean, braving storms and potential drowning repeatedly to learn how to swim, splashing and thrashing during races out of a mix of passion and frustration, almost drowning more than once in those years spent in turmoil… all of these moments and memories reveal vulnerabilities and (malleable, but still present) truths about his friends that help him figure out how to reach those friends and care for them. I digress, we are aware that swimming is important in the story, but so many of the issues we seem to have with canon at this point come from different perspectives as to why. We enjoy Starting Days because Makoto struggles with figuring out his motive/“why” and ultimately arrives at a similar conclusion as a good chunk of the audience: he’s there because he does learn to love swimming, but he’s also there because he loves Haru, and the pool essentially becomes meaningless if either of those tandem truths gets repressed or denied. The show is at its strongest when it works to acknowledge and honor both the sportsmanship/craft they’ve honed from years of dedication to swimming, as well as the the bonds and love that give them purpose.

Different people have talked about feeling disenchanted with the final relay in a way that they never seemed to be with other big relay scenes in the past, and it makes sense — we lose faith in the pool being this place of discovery and connectivity when the story does the disservice of pisspoor conflict-resolution and character erasure outside of it. Like, why does the pool still matter if the characters can’t even talk to each other or tap into the feelings and learned truths they’ve gathered from being vulnerable in the water in the past? Why should I keep putting stock into the “power of friendship” when the story skirts over possible confrontations and heartfelt chances to display the ever-evolving strength of those bonds?

One of the biggest problems with the FS movies, in my opinion, comes from a lack of balance between those two drives. The Haru we know, time and time again, marches forward on this path because he loves swimming and his friends. At some point, the urge to actively show those friendships growing stronger in the storytelling became less of a priority, active moments getting replaced with implied offscreen bonding (when they’re not completely ghosting each other) and flashback montages. The urge to show Haru as a person outside of swimming seems to fade in the narrative, which is sad to recognize when we are being shown so much evidence of this exact imbalance in Haru’s life being what’s hurdling him straight into burnout. Haru being thrown into a storyline where he loses his balance for a bit and spirals can be compelling, like I truly do believe that, but for it to be done well, the narrative has to acknowledge the importance of that balance in the first place. If they’re to insist on an ending where Haru breaks down and doesn’t consider quitting until he’s forced to take a hiatus, and then further insist that whatever happened during that hiatus gave him enough balance and strength to return to the world stage with confidence, the focal point should’ve been on that journey to rebuild Haru’s center. What’s sad is that we know that type of storytelling is possible, because we see it with Sousuke’s different arcs (which could be a whole separate post and conversation), so why can’t we have that with the insisted protagonist of the whole show? Was it a lack of time left to show the details of a messy healing process, or a belief from the writers that those details weren’t that important to show this time around?

I just. Hmm. Big Haru emotions. I’m excited to see fans fill in the gaps themselves by chatting/writing about Haru’s journey after the burnout themselves (the hard conversations and decisions that either lead him back to the world stage in some capacity or break free from the pro circuit entirely), but I wish we got just a smidge more in canon. We could’ve had just a smidge more in canon.

Sharing a little something for WIP Wednesday. If people are readers of Terms and Conditions... this might be something you're interested in...? It's been about half a year since I actually contributed anything new to it because I felt like I was dying in my own WIP stash. Hob and Dream were making out on the couch, as they had almost every night since Hob had first invited Dream over. They had never taken it any further than that since they had met, but at the moment they were both lost in a heated kiss that was the prelude to something more.

Dream became bolder and his thin fingers grabbed at Hob's shirt, pulling it out of his pants before slipping underneath, feverishly caressing Hob's hips and then his back. Suddenly, Dream froze and gasped. Hob broke the kiss immediately, afraid to have hurt him in any way, and looked worriedly into Dream's face.

But he was surprised to see his concern reflected in Dream's face and asked, now confused, "What is it?"

Dream pressed his finger to the small of Hob's back and asked, "What is it?"

Hob realized what Dream was talking about and quietly replied, "A little souvenir from Normandy in 1944. I had been airdropped and we were moving toward a major junction now called Dead Man's Corner. I was working in the yard of a farm we had taken from the Germans. Suddenly a shell landed in the yard and shrapnel hit me in the back. That's it."

Hob didn't want to think about that moment and what followed, his comrades who didn't make it, those who had been more seriously wounded than he. Whatever the war, the memories were all the same. The ones you wanted to forget but couldn't.

So, to distract Dream, he wrapped his arms around his neck and kissed him tenderly, but Dream gently pushed him away and made gentle circles over the small bulge on his back before asking quietly, "Does it still hurt?"

Hob shook his head, "The memory, yes, but not the wound."

Dream lifted the shirt a little higher to undress Hob and asked softly, "May I?"

Hob smiled and, not knowing what Dream was going to do, trusting him completely, replied, "Go ahead."

Dream put his hands on Hob's hips and then turned him around so that he was lying on his stomach on the couch. Hob shivered as Dream's fingers brushed over the small scar again. His lover asked worriedly, "Are you sure it doesn't hurt?"

Hob shook his head that was resting on his arms, "No, the skin is just a little more sensitive, but not in a painful way, you can go on."

He felt Dream move behind him and then Hob gasped as he felt the unexpected touch of Dream's lips between his shoulders, beginning a path of light kisses that stopped at Hob's lower back.

Dream whispered, "I'm so proud of you," and Hob could literally feel the lips moving against his bare skin, so sensitive there. Then Dream traced the outline of the scar with the tip of his tongue before pressing his lips to it for a long time.

Hob swallowed, overwhelmed with emotion as Dream's lips moved up his back, pressing into his neck before he turned him over, this time pressing his lips to Hob's in a lingering kiss. When they pulled away to catch their breath, Hob gasped against Dream's mouth, "Thank you."

Dream raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why?"

"For this most delightful treatment."

Dream chuckled slightly and replied, "Oh, my dear Robert Gadling, that is nothing compared to what is to come."

Hob opened his arms and replied in the same playful tone, "Do your best, my lord."

It didn't take long for the Lord of Dreams to show his human just how good he could be to him.

When I was in elementary school there was this weird trend in my class about having the most key chains on your bag…😂

I had about 20 on my randosel so I jingled as I walked 笑lol

Thinking back now it's kinda embarrassing🤣

But collecting key chains as souvenirs from places you've been is really addictive、I wonder why🥺

Also today was our 1st day of Osaka performances‼️

I finally！Got to hear！

I love Osaka…、it's the best‼️

I didn't get to eat Takoyaki today、but I still feel like I've had a taste of Osaka❗️

Lookie！We received 2 varieties of cakes（cheese・apple）from Rikuro Oji-san

For refreshments from Inoue‼️

It was my first time eating Rikuro Oji-san's cheesecake🍰🍰🍰

Eating it！Shocked me！

It literally melted in my mouth！I was so surprised！

It reminded me of the Shizuoka speciality 「Cocco」🐤 How fluffy it was。

Also the apples in the apple pie were soft and suーper delicious 😋

I didn't know that Rikuro Oji-san made apple pie！

Did you know❓

If you didn't know then please give them a try、they were really delicious！

I ate mine before the evening performance to recharge me、thank you Inoue 🌿🍫
