Pilot episodes:
Kai is the oldest at 15

Zane is 18
Jay will soon be 20

🎉🎉🎉 200 follower hunger games simulator oc challenge! 🎉🎉🎉
It’s been decided that the hunger games simulator is going ahead! Very much looking forward to it!
First, the participants! I can have a maximum of 48 ocs join this challenge and a minimum of 24 challengers (If it turns out more people want to join, I’d happily increase the number). If you have multiple ocs, feel free to submit them for the challenge. However, I’m going to focus on having it be fair for everyone so your other ocs will only join if there’s space by the time I start the simulator.
Leave a comment with who you’d like to join and I’ll update this post with who’s joining. I mean, Destino will also be joining too, for a bit of fun.
Make sure I can also find the reference of your character in an easy place as the sim also comes with a add a photo button and I think that’d be fun.
Each week, I’m going to post an update with how your ocs are getting on with some art to go along with it. Any “deaths” will be drawn in a comedic way (I definitely don’t want to drawn any of them seriously hurt). Feel free to also draw some moments from this too if there’s any I haven’t drawn. The OC that wins the hunger games simulator challenge will have a drawing of their victory!
I will be starting this on Saturday 29th April.
Good luck competitors!

Crystalised part 2 ep 23, 24, 25, 26 spoilers
Yeah I put them all in one post lol
Ep 23
Again, using minecraft logic
Antonia’s “I fished out the last one it’s your turn” lol wow, she makes it seem like this happens often
Antonia did the “if I had a nickel” meme
Oh frick Nya survived?? Also no legs for Nya??
Ofc casual sexism from the mechanic. She has a name!
Okay Jay didn’t crash!! Hell yeah Jay saving Nya for once!
The mechanic is anti jaya also that was such a sick line jay
Okay her fuckin legs are fine now ig
Also Nya’s gonna become water again :(
I think it’s weird that the Crystal warriors can pass out tho
Again city that never sleeps. Paperboys still gonna do their thing amidst a freaking war
Wu: I can’t do child soldiers
Nelson, pointing at the ninja: wtf are these then???
BENTHO IS COMING BACK :D
HELL YEAH LET NINJAGO CITY FIGHT BACK FOR ONCE
Oh gosh that was sick
ep 24
OH MAN THE THUMBNAIL
Lloyd rlly said frick you man
EXCUSE ME POLICE BUT WTF ARE UR PRIORITIES?? THE MAYOR IS GONE NOW WHAT LAW ARE U EVEN USING
NOOO NOT THE SERPENTINE :[ that’s so sadddd
Lloyd really blew his mind there
MISAKO FINALLY CAME BACK FOR A SEASON
I feel like the prophecy guy was brought up before but idk how to spell his name lol
PIXAL MY BELOVED I LOVE HER SO MUCH
Man zane is on the fritz
Oh god he has no limbs man that’s kinda fcuked up man jeez.
However the the ice emperor schtick is kinda funny
Oh my god he’s in a rucksack
OH MY FUCKING GOD ICE EMPEROR IS ONLY BACK FOR COMEDY not what I was expecting but I’ll take it
Hell yeah Ronin! Pixal and Ronin team up will be interesting
Omg the other sog who basically got completely rejected by Harumi this time round. Rip Pixal everyone is evil even her boyfriend
Hell yeah Ronin!! Trying to actually break out of the cycle
Also freaking Zane kicking ronin with his foot
Zane: vex? Vex! Wtf is vex when you need him
Ofc Cyrus didn’t even know
Ep 25
it’s the lava episode :)
Aww man Cole really hit his head
Okay even if I’m not a Kailor shopper I support skylor calling Kai hot shot
Ig this episode really will say which ship is canon
Freaking pythor. I love him
I guess Harumi is looking for lloyd
I would just like to remind people I coined Embershipping for the Kai/skylor/cole ship
ITS JAKE
I’m literally gonna start crying about Garmadon. Mans has half of his emotions but in the ways he’s expressing them, he’s sad about how Lloyd doesn’t accept the Oni heritage that he himself has and how christofern is a weird confused metaphor for Lloyd :((((
Gayle and vinny xxxx
God clutch literally has Nadakhan still oh my god
Okay this door must be a Chekhov’s gun bc they’re so gonna answer a knock that isn’t the paper boys
26
OH NO I DO NOT LIKE THIS EPISODE TITLE
Okay so I assume the romance is gonna get cleared up in this ep. We see the harbour so we know jaya is a thing. We’re looking at Kailor at the start. And like. Pixane… I’m gonna cry
Okay thank god we’re addressing the problems with them right here and now. I’ll hate the ship significantly less if they do this right.
Okay that’s fair
(I’m still a lava shipper tho)
No I refuse any couple shit from wusako no thanks
FreKing Garmadon. He’s like my baby brother whenever someone is on the phone
RACER SEVEN OH I LOVE HER SLSO
OR LIKE BLAZEY is it blazey? H SPEED. I love her
Oh my gosh. I hope Rarlkove integrates Pixal into the long con snake jaguar au
UV just 👉👈 at pixal
:(((( Zane. Has borg tried turning him off and ok again? Putting him in a bag of rice? Giving him a few thumps on the back? What if we just say “protect those who can’t protect themselves” that worked in s11
THEY LET BLAZEY KEEP A PRIME EMPIRE GUN??
ZANE YOU CANT KEEP DOING THIS HOW MANY FUNERALS DO YOU WANT MAN
WHAT THE FUCK THE PIXANE KISS
ZANE IM GOING TO DISMANTLE YOU MYSELF YOU SLEEPING BEAUTY FUCK

Your standards in general seem seriously FUBARed. You're willing to bend over 26 ways to justify the presence of frauds like Nijue and maniacs like Storm, but you kicked out Hibiki Otonokoji after mere weeks despite her having no family to turn to, without even considering the possibility of working out some longer-term program or deal to let her have a place?
Tumblr media
That one you can't blame us for! She was brought onto school grounds without our approval, and we had no word on what role she played in the murders her sister committed.
Tumblr media
Otonokoji Hibiki is not a student of Hope's Peak. I'm afraid we had no say in what became of her, as we had to think about the safety of our school.
Tumblr media
But yes, Wakaba-sama is right. We've made some poor decisions in the past, and perhaps we should see to it that none are made going forward.
Tumblr media
So we have an agreement then?
Tumblr media
It would appear so. Congratulations, Kizakura, you'll be getting all you ask for.
Tumblr media
But can we at least ensure that this investigation does not impede the school's staying open? If you have to talk to individual students, that's acceptable, but classes and practical activities are to continue.
Tumblr media
As long as it's not putting anyone in danger, I don't see any issue with that.
Tumblr media
Think we can bring them in starting around noon today?
Tumblr media
That's three hours away! It's far too short notice.
Tumblr media
Alright, how about when school's over today?
Tumblr media
Ashikawa, it's better we do this sooner r-rather than later, right?
Tumblr media
...Very well. After school today, they can begin their investigation. I can only imagine this will be a multi-day process either way.
Tumblr media
Sure, but let us carry this out and it could be over by Friday.
Tumblr media
You might already know that if you let Nanami Harumi attend.

Are we gonna talk about Lloyd's method of getting machines to work? Well in season 8 episode 2: The Jade Princess, When Lloyd and Harumi are on the bounty running away from the Sons of Garmadon and the bounty doesn't start up, Lloyd simply kicks it. Then again in season 11 episode 20: The Message, Lloyd is in the cave with the mech and Akita and he sees the message from Zane, everytime it cuts out on him or stops working, he hits it. There might be more examples in the show but they're the only two I can think of. I mean I think it's so funny watching Lloyd get frustrated over machines not working for him.

Are we gonna talk about...
How Nadakhan could be coming back?
So after the events of season 6 were erased we see the teapot be buried in trash, before Clouse gets it. Well in season 11 episode 4: The Belly of the Beast, when Zane gets spat out by Berney (The big sand beetle) we see some things fly out along with him. One of those things is, the teapot.
Here it is...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone could have definitely found it, because there where news reporters interviewing Clutch Powers at the time. One of them could of easily found it. Or maybe some tourists on there way to see the temple/ pyramid.
I would personally love for Nadakhan to come back in future seasons. Thoughts?

Okay everyone talks about how Lloyd is so innocent and cute and I 100% agree but... what if he was secretly a bad ass.
Hear me out, so he grew up in Darkly's right? So he would have to at least try to be tuff. This goes along with some of my hc's, for example Lloyd trying really hard to get good grades at Darkly's and he actually did really well, but he wasn't cold enough, when it came to killing or hurting things, hence why he got kicked out. Another is that Lloyd knows more curses than all the ninja combined, but the ninja have made it illegal for Lloyd to curse.
Darkly's obviously teaches kids to be bad so wouldn't some of that stuff stick in Lloyd's mind? His moral values are a little bit screwed from Darkly's.
If you want to add, the oni blood and the Great devourer venom, that he both inherited from his father, Lord Garmadon, into the mix, they would make his morals a bit fuzzy too.
He also has street toughness, from trying to find food, like stealing it, searching trash cans or sleeping in alleys. Living with the ninja made him turn from being a little brat, to an innocent angel, but hes still a badass underneath.

*Season 15 Spoilers*
Are we gonna talk about, how in season 15 episode 13, Wu calls Pixal to check in on how much progress they have made with their vehicles. In the background Kai accidentally sets his vehicle on fire, and Lloyd just happens to have a fire extinguisher handy while fixing his mech. So it is now officially cannon that the ninja prepare for Kai to set something on fire.

Character File: Sage Brooks
Note- This is the updated version of Sage’s initial “Fact File”
Warning- Brief mentions of parent death, death, abandonment, and bullying. Nothing descriptive or angsty, this isn’t a story just a fact file, but I’m adding warnings anyway. Also uh…I know parts of her story might not be...totally believable or even sorta stretched? But trust me when I say this is much better than her original story.
Also also, it's very very long. So..be prepared. Wish there was a way to sum this all up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Full Name- Sage Celia Brooks Birthday- August 15th, 2002/1999 Age: Canon: 18 - 21 Future: 26 - 29 Hometown- Eyton, Northern Ninjago
(Blood) Family- Aster Brooks (father; deceased), Lily Brooks (mother; deceased)
(Found) Family- Asher Woodman (older brother figure), Marion Nettle (younger brother figure)
(Future) Family- Willow Woodman (Niece), Cedar Woodman (Niece), Katlyn Woodman (Sister in law)
Hair- Black, falls to the center of her back, usually pulled into a braid of some form. Eyes- Silver Height- 5”3’ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sage grew up in a small Northern village by the name of Eyton, a traditional, old fashioned place, where the main income was fish and river crustaceans/mussels.
Sage’s parents moved to Eyton a year before Sage was born, taking an old, partially abandoned house as their own and fixing it to their liking. Aster took a job on the fishing boats, and hunted in the nearby forests both to bring meat home and bring in extra cash. Lily opened a baking business, and sold flowers during festivals.
While there wasn’t any proof of the matter, people of Eyton whispered about how Aster looked suspiciously similar to a man who’d accompanied a gang that’d caused some trouble a few years prior, until a warrior had chased them off.
Again, without proof they couldn’t hold a trial or even attempt to kick him and his slowly growing family out, but that didn’t stop the villagers from turning up their noses and even encouraging their kids to stay away from Sage and her parents.
Despite her social isolation, Sage was a very sweet child, who always tried to be nice to her classmates despite feeling that they hated her. She wasn’t blind to the way adults acted whenever she walked through town with her father.
When she was seven years old, one of the town’s fishermen was found dead on shore, an arrow sticking out from his skull. Aster was the only notable archer in town, and it was noted that he’d had an argument with the man a few nights prior. Given his possible prior gang affiliations, he was placed under house arrest until a proper trial could be put together.
The trial would be put off when an illness, deadly to adults (when left untreated) but nonlethal for children under seventeen, swept through the village. Lily caught said illness, and despite Aster’s attempts to take care of her, refusal from the village to treat her and inevitably Aster himself led to both of their deaths.
After burying both her parents within the same week, Sage was kicked from the village after a mostly unanimous decision.
For two years Sage wandered about alone, until she came to a village with a stone wolf statue in the center.
On her third day there, she was cornered by a group of town kids, who taunted her and pushed her around until another street kid, a boy with white hair and blue eyes, stepped in and fought of the bullies.
He only spent a few seconds checking to make sure Sage was ok, before turning to walk off by himself, determined to remain alone.
Within that same week, a skeleton horde attacked the village. Sage was quick to find an elevated porch to hide under, hoping she could wait out the raid.
This was when she spotted the white haired boy running, assumedly from the skeletons. Thinking quickly, she grabbed him and dragged him under the porch before he could be spotted.
After what felt like hours of awkward silence between them, the boy introduced himself as Asher and the two ended up spending the night under the porch. They decided to stick together afterwards, Asher stating that they’d be partners, looking out for each other to survive.
Sage would grow to care very much for Asher (platonically and soon in a familial way), and while Asher felt the same, he struggled to come to terms with caring for someone other than himself for a long time.
When Sage was eleven, Asher managed to…find a job. A thief named Ronin offered to hire them for help on a job. Despite Sage feeling the job betrayed her morals, she didn’t was Asher to do the job alone, and so, she agreed to join.
And this was the beginning of Sage’s long life of crime. As they got older, their names were spread around more and more, and soon a steady enough flow of money began to come in.
As time went on, certain events started to change Sage’s overall demeanor and personality. At the beginning of her teenage years, anxiety and general depression ran rampant. By sixteen, an apathy started to overtake her. She started losing touch with the caring, over all happy girl she’d once been.
During the SOG takeover, Sage became a target for UV’s wanted list after shooting some of the gang members. (Reason has yet to be determined). She caught the attention of Mr.E while running over the rooftops, and miraculously escaped with few injuries.
Sometime, early on in the takeover itself, Sage was traveling across the rooftops when she found a boy cornered by SOG members. She didn’t hesitate to shoot the gang members in the head with her bow, only realizing later that there may have been a more merciful way to deal with them.
After learning that the boy didn’t have a place to go, she brought him with her to the apartment she shared with Asher at the time. He would introduce himself as Marion.
Something about the rescue inspired her, and from there she would do her best to save other targets of the SOG for the remainder of the takeover.
This was the start of a change in Sage, one that would reconnect her with herself. She started caring more, smiling again, thinking of different ways out of situations than just...shooting first. She felt severe guilt, but she also felt a form of freedom. She realigned her morals.
Sage would do her best in the years that followed to provide Marion with a better life than her own, and would become a main supporter in his journey to master his element and become one of Ninjago’s protectors.
Three years later, Sage ended hiding a young man with a green streak of hair from a team of muggers. Deciding to take a risk, she invited the strange man to their home. She wouldn’t let him know that she recognized him as the Morro until a week or so later.
While Morro never joined in the thieving business, he did freelance with lifting and loading jobs to pull his weight. He’d also become Marion’s mentor later on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the future- Eventually, Sage would leave the crime life. The guilt of her actions and belief that her parents would be sorely disappointed in the way she’d led her life drove her to quit.
She would never turn herself in, instead running a branch tea shop with a close friend, volunteering and donating when and where she can as an attempt to give back.
She’d continue to be a supportive and loving figure in her brothers’ lives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Season by Season:
- Season 1- Sage meets Asher Sage and Asher were in a village that was attacked by the Skeleton Horde She was in Jamanakai with Asher when Lloyd first attempted to raid the place for candy. She was going to offer to help him snag some candy, but got scared off when the ninja arrived.
- Season 2- Sage and Asher continue their partnership, their loyalty and trust has grown quite a bit.
- Season 3- Sage and Asher begin their lives in crime.
One of the jobs Ronin hired them for was keeping an eye out while he grabbed Zane.
- Season 4- They were in one of the villages attacked by Chen’s cultists.
- Season 5- Asher and Sage officially refer to each other as siblings.
They were in Styx when the ninja attempted to steal from Ronin. Sage saw them leaping across the roofs.
- Season 6- With the ninja’s rise in fame, stealing becomes both harder and easier. On one hand, they’re too busy to come after them. On the other, cops were alerting the Ninja to every crime. Sage and Asher end up laying low.
- Season 7- When Borg disappears, Sage and Asher are given the job of stealing his tech.
- Season 8- Sage and Asher are offered a job by Harumi, but they ultimately turn it down.
- Season 9 – Sage is wanted by the SOG, saves Marion, and begins fighting against the SOG.
- Season 10- Sage, Asher, and Marion hide in an underground bunker during the oni attack. This is when they meet Jerome Rune and Calvin Rune.
Season 11- Sage, Asher, and Marion were not in the city during Aspheera’s attack. Rather, they were trying to remove Marion’s vengestone cuffs. They spent the rest of the season try to help Marion with his abilities.
- Season 12- The minute Sage hears about the video game linked disappearances, she drags the boys away from the city and to a rural village. Girl isn’t taking any chances.
Later that year, Sage meets Morro
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Facts: - Her father taught her the archery basics; she chose to learn how to shoot and uses a bow as her primary weapon because of her father’s prowess with the weapon. - She taught Marion and Asher’s daughters how to use a bow. - Has callused fingers from archery. - Can throw knives like a boss. - She does know a few things about fighting, but it’s not her strong suit and she prefers long range and dodging to melee and hand to hand combat. - Her favorite tea is Passion flower, and her favorite food is puffy pot stickers(or just pot stickers in general) - She has a kill count of 27, and is very closed off when asked about it. - She can pick locks relatively well, including handcuff locks and jail cell locks. - Like Asher, she is notorious for breaking out of holding cells and police custody. - Every year since she was 14, she visits Eyton to update her parents on her life and apologize for the life she is living. - Learned to drive a car and ride a motorcycle at 15. A fellow thief for hire taught Asher and Sage. - Built/repurposed her motorcycle, Asher’s motorcycle, and their pickup by herself. - Her motorcycle is her baby and if you break it she will break you. - Impulse drives her motorcycle when incredibly stressed. - Taught herself mechanics and medical stuff - Got all of her education from libraries, everything she knows about math, history, etc. is self taught - She was 17 when she got her first tattoos. - In total she has four tattoos. A raven carrying a hyacinth on her back, vines around her right arm, an ace flag yin yang on her left, and Edelweiss around a knife in a currently undetermined location. - Each tattoo has some varying form of significance. - She picked up roof running to help with jobs, it became a hobby later on - Tried to teach herself guitar, but they moved around too much for her to focus on it. - Family is everything to her. - A sign that you have her full trust you is that she becomes willing to be more...physical around you. Nudging your arm, playful punches and shoves, hugs, hair ruffling. She also won’t freeze or tense up if you grab her suddenly. -Basically she becomes notably less awkward and anxious, and wary around you. - She is fiercely loyal, and will stay by your side even if it means she might die. - Very tired and frequently has nightmares. Anxiety and guilt also prevents sleep. - Has to have a knife on her person at all times in order to feel safe; even in her own home and while she sleeps. - Crystal necklace is from a friend, a reminder that she isn’t alone and that she has people there for her. - Various scars, each with their own story. - Most people don’t assume Sage is a criminal when they first meet her.

Bookshelf Briefs 6/8/20
Ace of the Diamond, Vol. 26 | By Yuji Terajima | Kodansha Comics (digital only) – The fall season has begun! Furuya is wearing the ace number and dominates the first game, much to Eijun’s distress, since he’s still suffering from “the yips” after striking a batter with an inside pitch. Thankfully, Miyuki and Coach Kataoka arrange for Chris to drop by and teach Eijun a new trick, which seems to help get him out of his doldrums. Meanwhile, Furuya’s performance begins to deteriorate, rumors about Coach Kataoka’s imminent departure begin to circulate, and the guy who’s been observing them (but who is probably Kataoka’s replacement) plans to focus solely on cultivating Furuya the ace and objects to how much time and effort Kataoka devotes to the other players. I mean, I can only assume that this guy is going to get sent packing at some point, but I definitely appreciate that Terajima-sensei is able to make me this anxious about his presence. Perennially recommended. – Michelle Smith
A Certain Scientific Railgun: Astral Buddy, Vol. 3 | By Kazuma Kamachi, Yasuhito Nogi, and Kiyotaka Haimura | Seven Seas – The first half of this volume is a giant flashback, and you know those are always bad in the Indexverse. Expect dead kids, dead adults, and a whooooooole lot of evil science. Unfortunately, there’s also a lot here that relies on the reader knowing one of the antagonists is from New Testament Vol. 11… which we have not seen in English, and might never see. Too much continuity. Junko continues to be laughably retroactively strong, going toe to toe with a level 5 here. And there’s the bond between her and Misaki, which may be “master and servant” but is also a close friendship (and yuri tease, as Misaki herself demonstrates). Railgun fans will like this. – Sean Gaffney
The Girl from the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún, Vol. 8 | By Nagabe | Seven Seas – The eighth volume of The Girl from the Other Side is unbearably sad—so much so that I struggled to finish it, as watching Shiva come to terms with losing Teacher is a shattering experience. Compounding my sense of anguish were the final chapters, in which we learn why the Inside world was so desperately interested in Shiva. The parallels between her situation and our current health crisis are impossible to ignore, reminding us about the human cost of capitulating to fear, ignorance, and superstition in the face of a pandemic. In a less fraught moment, I’d be inclined to recommend The Girl from the Other Side for the lessons it imparts, but I think it’s OK to decide that Nagabe’s allegory is a little too on-the-nose to offer insight or comfort right now. – Katherine Dacey
Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest, Vol. 3 | By Aki Irie | Vertical Comics – After two messy but interesting volumes that see-sawed between mystery and travelogue, Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest finds its groove in volume three. Michitaka—who disappeared from the previous volume—takes center stage in the latest installment, as Kei inadvertently stumbles across some important clues about what happened to his aunt and uncle back in Japan. Though Kei’s discovery propels the story in a new and unexpected direction, the latest plot twists feel earned; the sometimes awkward shifts in tone and genre that characterized the first two volumes are smoothed over by new revelations about Michitaka, and a new sense of urgency about solving the trail of gruesome deaths he’s left behind. The result is a compelling story that has the trappings of a Scandinavian crime show but the soul of an X-Files episode. Recommended. – Katherine Dacey
Kakushigoto: My Dad’s Secret Ambition, Vol. 3 | By Kouji Kumeta | Kodansha Comics (digital only) – Whereas Zetsubou-sensei made a point to seemingly attack everything in the world for leaving the author (and, by extension, Nozomu) in despair, Kakushigoto is zeroing in on the manga profession in particular. Here we get mysteries answered, such as why are the pages of weekly magazines colored differently, who determines the order the stories go in, and what is the exact nature of a deadline? We don’t get real answers for any of these, as it turns out things are very fluid. As for Hime, she’s still cute, and still investigating things with her not-Zetsubou girls mystery club. And there’s still that flashforward threatening us with the death of Hime’s father. Will the series get that dark? – Sean Gaffney
The Misfit of Demon King Academy: History’s Strongest Demon King Reincarnates and Goes to School with His Descendants, Vol. 1 | By Shu, Kayaharuka, and Yoshinori Shizuma | Square Enix – This isn’t my usual fare, but I hoped it would help with my Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun withdrawal. And it actually did! Anoth Voldigord was the all-powerful demon king, but sacrificed himself to end a perpetual war with humanity, pledging to reincarnate in 2000 years. When he does so, he’s invited to a school attendend by his many descendants but nobody believes he’s who he says he is because his magic is too vast to be measured and all of the facts about his reign have been distorted or forgotten over time. Anoth isn’t too likable at first, but the fact that his smug announcements of superiority garner no reaction, his jokes fall flat, and he must deal with a pair of doting and dimwitted human parents all help to humble him a bit. I guess it sometimes pays to venture out of your comfort zone! – Michelle Smith
My Senpai Is Annoying, Vol. 1 | By Shiromanta | Seven Seas – Thankfully, the senpai is not annoying in the way that I feared—this is all on her. Futaba is a new OL at a company who is so short she looks about twelve years old. She also has a near-terminal case of tsundere. This mostly comes out when around Harumi, her senpai at the company, who is huge, nice, helps her with her work and occasionally lightly teases her, and she is absolutely not ready to deal with it. This manga has one joke—Futaba is embarrassed and gets mad to hide it—and if you like that joke, it can be fun. It’s also based on a webcomic, with most “chapters” being about two pages. Towards the end, there’s longer original content, and that works much better. Recommended for those who like 4-komas and tsunderes. – Sean Gaffney
New Game!, Vol. 9 | By Shotaro Tokuno | Seven Seas – You got the sense that Kou wasn’t going to stay in France forever, and sure enough, she’s back by the end of this volume. There’s some nice stories here about not-quite-rivalries between her and Aoba’s friend Hotaru, and of course the inevitable yuri tease between Kou and Rin, which will never rise above a certain level but that level is pretty damn high. Other than that, a big part of this volume features the danger of farming out parts of your game to outside companies to complete, as they’re harder to control and can easily affect quality in ways that need to be fixed somehow. We also see Aoba continue to grow into her role as a real adult, even as she continues to never quite take the starring role. Cute. – Sean Gaffney
Primitive Boyfriend, Vol. 1 | By Yoshineko Kitafuku | Seven Seas – Kamigome Mito is popular with the boys at her school but feels nothing for any of them, finding them all insufficiently manly. Mito is lamenting her circumstances while working on the family farm, when she suddenly receives a visit from Spica, Goddess of the Harvest. Mito’s hard work has not gone unnoticed and as a reward, Spica sends her back in time 2.5 million years to meet her soulmate, a member of the species Australopithecus Garhi. He takes care of Mito, she falls for him, and when she’s sent home just as his life is in peril, she’s desperate to return. It’s pretty fun, I guess, if you don’t let yourself get bogged down in the realities of how their relationship will never work. Thankfully, it’s also only three volumes long. It’s short, it’s unique, and thus I will keep reading to see how it all plays out. – Michelle Smith
Species Domain, Vol. 8 | By Noro Shunsuke | Seven Seas – The series has now reached the Culture Festival, and seems like it might slowly be gliding to an ending, which in a series like this means pairing up more people. The “joke” confession that wasn’t in the last volume gets revisited here, with much embarrassment all around. Kazamori’s desperation for other girls to be attracted to Ohki may end up getting her in trouble down the road. Mikasagi explains why he isn’t ready to commit to anything, etc. There’s also an extended bathhouse scene, for those who like fanservice, which includes discussion about where Mizuno should be, on the men’s or women’s side. Again, I appreciate the care they’re taking with this character. Fun. – Sean Gaffney
The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 3 | By Kousuke Oono | Viz Media -As I have said in previous reviews, you read this series for its one gag, and should not expect more than that one gag done extremely well. Beyond that, here we see that our househusband is not the only former yakuza trying to make a living doing mundane everyday things, and that it’s much easier to change what you do than how you act. We also see why he’s such a good husband, manipulating things a bit so that his wife can meet some live action Pretty Cure actors (or rather the non-copyright violating Pretty Cure knockoff). That said, I think it’s Santa’s appearance that is absolutely the highlight of the volume, along with the stunned reaction of all the children. Hilarious. – Sean Gaffney

i like anzu but im afraid if shes in the anime it might turn into some weird reverse harem thing or if they dont end up developing her a lot she'd kinda be a drag?? i think shes great im just afraid theyd mess up w her in the anime tbh
me too !!! honestly i wouldn’t mind a bit of ship tease (we already have some in the game’s stories after all *cough cough*Tsukasa*cough cough*) but Enstars isn’t a reverse harem… well let’s just trust them for now ! they managed to make Anzu pretty lovable in the stories, so let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best !! - mod mademoiselle
I’m honestly pretty worried about that too... Like, Anzu has such good character development and it’d be a shame for those who watched the anime, but don’t play the game would think that Anzu isn’t like needed or is just a waste of space... When the anime does come out, I hope that they make it at least 25-26 episodes to fully flesh out at least every character. Maybe make an OVA based on Crossroads to show some love for Anzu. - mod Harumi

ASOOT Timeline: November 2012 (November Rain)
I did it! That’s another month done! Now, I just gotta go back and add the 2030 stuff, then do the little bit of December done so far, and I’ll finally FINALLY be all caught up after working on this thing since March! But first, a week-long vacation, because I need one. (Also, imagine getting introduced to the story JUST in time for your birthday to be recorded on the timeline. #JustMasaThings.)–Timeline Anon
November 8:
The Quantum Crew is shocked to hear that Megumi killed Juu, though they understand her reasons why she did it. Hajime meets her, thanks her for her help, and requests that she tries to go for less violent options if possible in future collaborations with the crew. He also asks that she let the higher-ups know what’s happening with the Ultimate Despairs.
Kyoko tells Iroha two things about the good future. The first thing is that Iroha will have her first child in 2016, when she is 18 or 19. Kyoko’s advice regarding this is that Iroha should explain this to her friends as soon as possible and start working on a financial/career plan to support her future son. The second piece of information is rather more serious: in January of 2013, Iroha’s parents will host a charity event (at which many famous people will be present, including Sayaka and her band), her mother will get into an argument with her siblings, and this will lead to Akemi’s death at her mother’s hands. Iroha vows to save her sister, and Kyoko agrees to help however she can. The two make plans to talk more in the future.
Kanata asks Hajime if she can join him, as she wants to protect those she holds dear. Hajime and his teammates happily give the a-okay, and Kanata becomes an official member of the Quantum Crew.
When Iroha asks about her mother, Tenmei reveals that she was in his class at Hope’s Peak and was an arrogant, selfish girl who would constantly get on everyone’s case. He’s willing to help take her down, and he’ll talk to Harumi, Misako, and Shinji about it too.
Chiaki apologizes to Tenmei for getting frustrated with him during the Primetch mission, promises that the Quantum Crew is finally taking time off, and offers to help him however she can. They go home to play Fabio Kart.
Nikei goes to update his website with his article on the Primetech attack and Juu’s downfall…only to find that a journalist rival of his, Masa Esumi of Esumi Papers, has already beaten him to it. She’s a Hope’s Peak student, and although she hasn’t been at school since before Kasugano’s debut, she’s back with information that she was somehow able to get from inside police headquarters. Nikei worries that she could be working against the crew.
Masa, as it turns out, is Estu and Mayumi’s aforementioned ally. She eagerly agrees to help them in their campaign to expose Hope’s Peak. The three girls, hereinafter known as the 76 Squad, will keep an eye on things (and certain people) and see what they learn.
November 9: It’s Shinji’s birthday. He turns 49.
November 11: It’s Hibiki and Kanade’s birthday. They turn 18.
November 13: It’s Tsurugi’s birthday. He turns 15.
November 17: It’s Masa’s birthday. She turns 18.
November 20: It’s Ruruka’s birthday. She turns 18.
November 26: It’s Kyoji’s birthday. He turns 20.
November 27: It’s Ibuki’s birthday. She turns 16.
//Woo! Nice work! Also, hope you enjoy your vacation ^^

Invaders of the Rokujouma!?, Vol. 5
By Takehaya and Poco. Released in Japan as “Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?” by Hobby Japan. Released in North America digitally by J-Novel Club. Translated by Warnis.
I’ve mentioned before that I enjoy Yurika’s role in the novels, being the constantly mocked and abused girl whose suffering is absolutely hilarious. That said, it’s not the sort of thing that you’re going to be able to drag out over 26+ volumes, not if you want to actually develop the characters enough to have people read 26+ volumes. So I was not particularly surprised that this volume of Rokujouma was going to try to give Yurika a bit more gravitas, or at least show us that as a magical girl she isn’t, in fact, as completely incompetent as her personality may imply. I wasn’t expecting this to turn into the best volume of the series to date, though, as Yurika’s frustrations in the first half of the book give way to a battle royale with her evil counterpart, and she finally gets her wish: her friends believe her.
And yes, I can see you raising an eyebrow at me. “Magical reset at the end?”, you say cynically. Yes, yes, magical reset at the end. But that’s not the point, the point is that Yurika is NOT affected by the magical reset, which means that the development she gets in this book will (hopefully, crosses fingers) remain going forward. A lot of Yurika’s issues are self-confidence related, which makes sense given her background which we get a bit more of here – she was an “ordinary girl” attacked for the large amount of manga she had, and her magical girl sempai pretty much sacrificed herself so that Yurika could continue to defend the world, etc. As a magical girl, Yurika is actually pretty damn powerful. It’s just the constant ridicule and denial by her friends that wear her down. But now she’s aware that, memory loss or no, in the end when her friends discover the truth they do support and defend her.
As for the harem, it’s interesting that Yurika does not particularly moon over Koutarou the way that the other girls do. There are a few hints she likes him, but for the most part she’s content to set up Harumi with him. Her attempts at helping that relationship along work much better than her attempts to get people to believe she’s a magical girl, honestly. As for Koutarou, his main issue is that he’s surrounded by a ghost, two aliens, and an “underground priestess”, and Yurika the “cosplayer” is the one normal girl in his life. Once he accepts that his harem are not going to abandon him, I think things can move forward. (As for Harumi, her main issue is that Koutarou puts distance between them that he doesn’t do with the others, and this is relatively straightforwardly fixed.) The other haremettes don’t get much to do, though the ending implies that the next book will feature Kiriha – which makes sense, she’s on the cover of this book. Gotta keep things consistent.
Rokujouma is never going to break any originality records, but it’s settled nicely into doing its thing, and the characters are growing with each book. Well worth a read for fans of battle harems.
