If I'm understanding this right Ozai desires to be Fire Lord, and to that end follows in the family tradition of molding his kids into perfectly apathetic Killing Machines who work to intimidate the nobility, sending them out to the front to better the war effort. LT dies and OZ shows them off to AZ, in hopes of being named the heir by appealing to his dad's logic, but AZ insists that Iroh will remain heir, bcuz Ozai is lazy, has no eye for basic strategy and wants the throne for pure kicks.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my headcanon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tho I don’t think that it’s a FN Royal Family tradition to mold your kids into “perfectly apathetic killing machines.” Pretty sure that was all Ozai. Iroh was apparently Azulon’s favored child, and while he was good at killing, he had a lot of other traits and interests too, even before his heel-face turn. Lu Ten seemed to have a cheerful childhood per that flashback dream. Azulon can come across as apathetic and you could argue that Sozin raised him to be a killing machine, but I figure Azulon is just old and tired of Ozai’s BS and Sozin, being 82 and preoccupied with world conquest at the time of his birth, didn’t have much hand in raising him.

Sure, they’re a family of genocidal maniacs, but I think Ozai was the only one who actually abused and purposely traumatized his kids. And the reason he wanted Zuko and Azula to be perfectly apathetic killing machines is because if they were anything else, anything that might allow them their own likes and goals and interests, it might distract them from what Ozai saw as his children’s true purpose, which is to make him look good and be his political tools.

And yeah, that’s exactly how he was using them in the Zuko Alone flashback, and no, Azulon didn’t appreciate it.

I like to think Ozai is, objectively, the worst leader out of the three wartime Fire Lords. Like, politically. He’s the big bad of the series, but history will remember him as an embarrassing six-year blip of a ruler who didn’t do much and got his butt kicked by a 13-year-old. In Fire Nation history textbooks, he’s a brief paragraph bridging Azulon’s assassination and Zuko’s banishment and subsequent victory. Sozin had a vision and set it in motion, Azulon spent the better part of a century leading the war, heck even Iroh was off conquering stuff, and Ozai......I mean you could argue Ozai did something in the military as a prince, but I don’t see it. Everything Ozai does in the series, he does by lying and tricking and getting other people to do it for him - Ursa killed Azulon, Azula conquered Ba Sing Se, and even War Minister Qing was the person obtaining all the Fire Nation’s war technology. When he actually does do something himself, it’s, like, burning off the face of a defenseless 13-year-old who can’t fight back. Wow, what an accomplishment. He didn’t even face Aang during the eclipse. He got his fourteen year old daughter to do it instead. And despite his bravado by sending away the guards when Zuko came to face him, he pretty obviously considered Zuko a threat once the swords were drawn, because loserlord never bothered to put any effort into obtaining any skills beyond burning stuff indiscriminately.

I see Ozai as, like, that guy whose rich parents paid for him to go to college, and now he’s graduated and doesn’t have a job and isn’t interested in getting one or in moving out of the house, or doing anything really, but acts like he’s the universe’s gift to humanity and like he knows everything and can do anything but until destiny comes calling he’s just gonna chill on his parents’ couch and watch TV. He’s happy to coast on his royal status and all the respect that comes with it. Power is great, but responsibility sounds annoying. Then he gets annoyed that Iroh has more power than him just because Iroh has more responsibilities. That is so not fair. And yeah, he basically wants the throne for kicks, he wants it because he wants it, and if you say “but dude doesn’t responsibility give you hives?” he’ll laugh because being the Fire Lord means you get to be powerful, not necessarily responsible.

I wanna take a minute to say that I love coming up with FN Royal Family headcanons that deepens them as people and shows how awful they are and how ruthless and cunning and determined and intelligent they are, too. I try to write them as intriguing characters and terrible people. But with Ozai, I like to just have him be terrible, with no likeable or redeeming qualities, just as the show portrayed him. Ozai is what you get after a century of war, genocide, and Fire Nation supremacy, the natural culmination of his forefathers’ legacy. My Sozin and Azulon are evil, but also good leaders. My Ozai is evil, but a terrible leader due to his extreme self-centeredness.

Ozai certainly did think he was appealing to his dad’s logic in the throne room. Problem is, Ozai is a narcissist who thinks he’s the center of the universe, and thus he assumes all logic revolves around him. He can’t conceive a reality where what he wants isn’t relevant to the situation. In his eyes, Iroh couldn’t be the next Fire Lord, not after showing such weakness and not having any more heirs, and therefore Ozai was the only logical choice to take the throne. Surely Azulon could see that?

That’s Desperate Narcissistic Ozai Logic. Real World Logic works something more like this: Azulon knows exactly what kind of a brat his annoying secondborn is and doesn’t want him anywhere near the throne, Iroh has an impressive resume as a great leader and Azulon has always planned for him to be his successor, and if Iroh doesn’t have his own kid anymore he is still fully capable of naming his niece or nephew as his heir once he’s had time to grieve. The world doesn’t revolve around you, Ozai; you are indeed irrelevant to the line of succession if I decide you are.

Ozai, of course, didn’t take that too well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OOF, there are a lot of things but I’m gonna mention two that actually go hand-in-hand: Animation and voice acting! No joke, everytime I watch the movie again I discover one new little quirk about his mannerisms, the way he moves around, and the fast-talking, schmoozing voice just adds onto that, giving him a comedic and more chill approach to villainy while keeping him quite a dangerous fella.

I got so many, but Imma just put here one that I love so much:

“My favorite part of the game…Sudden death”

I think this line is a great example of how he still manages to come off as a pretty intimidating villain even if he has a rather chill and comedic tone most of the film. He’s someone you could go grab a cold one with as well as a man you REALLY don’t want to piss off.

I really like him working alongside the “main” Disney villains (Ursula, Maleficent, Jafar, Grimhilde…) I see him as a guy who would legitimately want to make allies and friends that are just as evil as he is to get away from all the jolly-frivolous gods he has to deal with in the Olympus. Mah boy just wants to vibe with people that understand him.

An unusual one: I feel like there would be at least some level of sympathy between him, Hans and Scar. They could be the “living-under-our-siblings-shadows club”, drinking their feelings away as they talk shit about how their brothers/nephews did them dirty.

My main ship with Hades is FireCobra (Hades/Jafar). I really enjoy the bickering-married couple dynamic they can have, teasing and sassing each other back and forth but would still kill for each other at the end of the day. Also, there’s a lot of room for slow burn and denial, and that’s my drug of choice.

But I do enjoy seeing him with Facilier, Maleficent and sometimes with Persephone, although that one qualifies more like Oc x Canon Character. Overall, if the dynamic is interesting then I’ll take anything!

I don’t think I got any I can pinpoint tbh. I will just take almost anything as long as it’s consensual.

Just like the rest of the gods Hades is naturally omnilingual, which means he can understand and speak any language fluently.

Here’s the catch tho: He can only understand languajes that are being spoken among mortals, so dead-tongues that have been long forgotten are more difficult or completely indecipherable to him.

I don’t know why but the scenario of one of the bilingual villains cursing Hades out on their native tongue and then almost gasping in shook when the god responds them fluently is just so funny for me.

I love his voice in Latin-American Spanish dub, and I would even be bold enough to say that I personally prefer it over the original. I’m not saying its better but Trujillo does a wonderful maintaining Wood’s original voice for the character while also adding some of his own style to the character, with the changes of pitch, the intensity, the delivery of the lines and those rageful screams.

Wwx dives forward and wraps himself around jin ling

Then he twirls them to the side away from incoming baxia and crashes them both to the ground where they're safe

as this is happening, lwj sees his opening and draws bichen

we get a quick moment where wwx and jc are both fussing over jl, it’s super sweet!

AND THEN WE GET A SHOT OF JGY'S DISEMBODIED ARM

THE CAMERA STARTS TO TILT UPWARDS

WE SEE THE HEM OF LWJ'S PRISTINE WHITE ROBES FRAMED BY BICHEN

BICHEN HAS RIVULETS OF BLOOD STREAMING DOWN THE BLADE

THE CAMERA CONTINUES TO TILT UPWARD UNTIL WE SEE LWJ STANDING TALL, FACE GRIM AND SERIOUS AND JUST OVERALL HOLDING HIMSELF IN AN IMPOSING BADASS WAY

wwx is looking at him like HOLY SHIT LWJ

Which is a totally reasonable reaction bc holy shit lwj

HA, now jgy only has one arm

I may not be able to follow up on my threats but it is gratifying to see lwj follow through for me lololol

gross, ss is all begging for medicine to help jgy

wwx tries to do some sort of spell to stop wn but it doesn't work and in a fit of panic he yells out “WEN QIONGLIN!”

thankfully this snaps wn out of it enough that he stops baxia like, one inch from my bratty son's face

the lan bros are still doing their Magic Music thing and wn is trying to reign in baxia but baxia's pissed off so everyone’s struggling

wwx starts his whistling again and it's rattling Plot Device 3

lxc tries to stop wwx but lwj shakes his head at his brother like no, back off

wwx turns to look at lwj, lwj meets his eyes and gives him a single solemn nod

AND WWX SMILES AT HIM BC HIS SOULMATE BELIEVES IN HIS ABILITIES AND TRUSTS HIM!!!

this is the first legit proper wangxiantic moment in the whole episode, what the heck

GIVE ME MORE WANGXIAN AND LESS JGY, PLZ & THX

jc: wei wuxian!!

wwx turns to see his brother and jc FLINGS THE DEMON FLUTE AT WWX bc apparently he's been carrying chenqing around THIS WHOLE TIME??

wwx nods to him (and omg jc is helping him, this is good, this is a step in the right direction!!) and brings chenqing to his lips

we get a shot of lwj staring at wwx as wwx starts to play

and the background music starts to get SUPER INTENSE and EXCITING as wwx plays

CHENQING STARTS TO OOZE THAT SMOKY RESENTFUL MAGIC STUFF

we get a shot of JC watching wwx play and this is the softest we've seen him look at his brother since he came back from the dead

he's looking at him like it's finally hitting him that wwx is back, his big brother is alive and here and protecting him and jin ling bc that's what family is supposed to do

AND IF I CAN’T HAVE WANGXIANTICS, I WILL ACCEPT YUNMENG BROS TIME AS RECOMPENSE

oooh, Plot Device 3 starts to zoom around and we get a fun bit of camera work so it seems like we're seeing everything from Plot Device 3's perspective

which is kind of adorable for some reason???

it's just zipping along and it sees wwx and wwx guides its attention to where wn is struggling to control baxia

wwx starts to walk, getting both baxia and Plot Device 3 to follow him further into the temple

lwj sees this happening and whooshes away his guqin and follows bc he's always going to follow wwx obvs

WWX IS SO AWESOME, I LOVE WATCHING HIM WORK

EVERYBODY IS STARING AT HIM IN AWE AS THEY SHOULD BE BC MY SUNSHINE BOY IS SKILLED AS HECK

he manages to get baxia into the coffin with nmj before he starts coughing up blood

But before we can freak out about that, nhs scream in the background

so everyone runs to check out what's happening there

nhs is all SS WHY'D YOU TRY TO KILL ME OMG MY LEG IS ALL CUT UP NOW, EVERYTHING IS AWFUL, HELP HELP

and ss is like BUT I DIDN'T, HE'S LYING!!!

lol baxia just leaps out of the coffin buries itself in ss's chest

AND THAT’S IT FOR SU SHE

good fucking riddance

But also baxia is nmj's saber

DID IT HEAR NHS AND BE LIKE, NO I CAN'T LET MY MASTER'S BELOVED LITTLE BROTHER GET HURT BY THIS USELESS NOBODY???

wwx starts up his demon flute again even tho baxia seems much more chill now that it has finally killed someone

he covers the coffin using some of his wicked awesome red magic stuff

but it's taking a lot out of him i guess bc he stumbles back and lwj is right there to catch him

bc they're soulmates and they love each other

aND GOD THE WAY THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER HERE

JUST, UGH

EVERY TIME THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER MY HEART GETS PALPITATIONS

And this is the only other wangxiantic moment in this episode, wtf show

cut to the next scene, everyone's patching up wounds and whatever

lol we can hear nhs whining like a baby bc omg it hurts it hurts, lxc be more gentle

and lxc is like, chill bro it's just a stab wound

nhs is like JUST a stab wound?? r u kidding me, i'm DYING!!

Which is exactly how i would react to a stab wound lol

now lxc is with jgy and he's like jgy if you do ONE more bad thing, i will definitely finally punish you mercilessly

then he starts checking out his armless shoulder bc lxc really is too good and not all that bright apparently

lol when wwx sees lxc tending to jgy's wounds and his face is like ugh i can't believe this guy

AND THIS IS WHEN WE GET THAT AMAZING AWESOME SHOT OF NHS'S FACE GOING ALL SERIOUS AND, LIKE, VENOMOUS

WE ONLY SEE PART OF HIS FACE, THE OTHER PART COVERED BY LXC'S OUT OF FOCUS FACE

AND NHS GLOWERS AT JGY

oh, my poor sunshine boy is wincing and holding a cloth to his STILL SLUGGISHLY BLEEDING NECK WOUND

SOMEBODY GIVE MY SUNSHINE BOY MEDICINE

TAKE WHATEVER LXC GAVE TO JGY AND GIVE IT TO MY SUNSHINE BOY STAT

lsz is watching him very intently bc he's figuring out some things about himself and wwx that LWJ DIDN'T HAVE THE GOOD GRACE TO EXPLAIN TO EITHER OF THEM YET

lwj ofc has got his eyes glued on wwx bc, i mean, what else is there worth looking at in the Temple of Doom?

And i guess this counts as a wangxiantic too bc lsz is basically wangxian’s love child anyway!

lxc has the gall to ask nhs to hand him the medicine bottle to tend to FUCKING JGY'S (AKA HIS BIG BROTHER’S MURDERER) WOUNDS

GOD JUST LET JGY BLEED OUT AND DIE ALREADY

nhs is like sure! grabs the medicine bottle and hides it in his robes

he makes a whole show out of rooting around in his robes to ‘find’ it and lxc goes to him to grab it or whatever so his back is turned to jgy

AND NHS, THAT CLEVER CLEVER BOY, USES THIS CHANCE

he makes a show of looking over lxc's shoulder and shouts LXC LOOK OUT!!

lxc grabs his sword and whirls around and stabs it right into jgy

and nhs is all stuttery and nervously saying how omg he saw jgy reach behind him and he thought he was gonna do something awful so he panicked

Then jgy finally sees nhs AND THAT'S WHERE THE EPISODE ENDS

So another episode with way too much plot stuff, yuck

I mean, we only got 3 actual wangxian moments??

What is that about, huh? THAT’S NOT EVERY GAY RIGHTS OF YOU, SHOW!

The next episode is THE LAST and we’re definitely getting wangxiantics there and i will definitely cry about it

tl ; dr .

jeyne is the youngest child and only daughter of the lord of lannisport and his wife. well - raised, courtesied, if admittedly spoiled. even as a little girl she plays pretend at being a king. her father teaches her what words like wartime and loyalty and ambition mean ; the sacrifices she must make for their family name, for gold and glory.

the ironborn raids come to the shores of the westerlands and both her brothers are sent to fight. the younger dies first ; there is no body to bury. her mother falls ill with something they can only call grief.

jeyne is married not long after, a rose in bloom at nineteen. when she first hears, she weeps and begs and rages. her father reminds her of her duty, of the joy it would bring her ailing mother. jeyne knows then what must be done, and plans.

when her first husband dies just shy of two years into their marriage, jeyne is irreproachable. he dies in winter, already ill ; goes to sleep coughing and doesn’t wake up. jeyne isn’t even in the castle when it happens, although unfounded rumors fly of witchery and murder.

nine months pass, and she plays the part of mourning widow exceptionally well. it helps her mummer’s farce that news comes from the war : her remaining brother is dead now too, and her mother’s health is failing. without her brothers, she’s the ostensible heir to lannisport ; her father’s displeasure with this is made quite clear to her. he even suggests she isn’t his ; bearing too many of her mother’s features, not enough of his.

she is remarried quickly to lord lucas whent, without a fraction of the pomp and circumstance of her first wedding ; now a widow, with a reputation tarnished by unproven but incessant whispers, the newest match is rushed, necessary but insignificant. she doesn’t cry or beg this time, just goes coldly.

she hates him before she even meets him, hates the harrenhal the moment she sets eyes on it, hates the cold and the rain and the gloom of the castle and its people. spends all her considerable energies complaining and making life generally miserable for anyone around.

word arrives that her mother has died ; her father remarries quickly in the hopes of a new male heir, and draws in his nephews and nieces. weighing his options. jeyne prays to the stranger to take them all.

she resents the lot of them ; her father for using and betraying her, her brother and mothers for leaving her, the ironborn for killing her brothers, the starks for suing for peace and making their deaths worthless, her husband merely for existing. mostly, though, she resents herself, not clever enough to find a way out of the cages she’s been locked in.

plots.

enemies. the very best plot type and you cannot convince me otherwise. gimme intimately plotted hate-your-guts-smile-to-your-face frenemies who overthink everything the other says and press each others buttons incessantly. gimme ‘our houses have fought each other and i blame your family for this or that’. gimme petty jealousies and annoyances and people too much like her for them to get along. gimme people who think she’s a traitorous, murdering bastard and a whore to boot, and aren’t even wrong to think so.

close friends. i don’t imagine she has a lot of these ; those not deterred by her reputation often are dissuaded by her personality. still i love the idea of her having a few lords or ladies with whom she gets along quite well, the kind of people you only need to meet briefly to know you understand each other. can be from pretty much anywhere ; stuck at harrenhal i imagine jeyne to be an avid letter-writer.

cousins. i’m also considering sending in a wc for this, but gimme all the family plots ! could be paternal cousins, potential contenders for inheriting lannisport, & probably childhood companions. could also be maternal cousins ! i listed her mom as being a westerling but i’m more than happy to change that to another house for plot reasons, it doesn’t really matter ! her father could’ve also had sisters who married into other houses, there’s lots of options.

failed betrothals. i can imagine her father made a lot of offers, both when she was first getting married and after she was widowed. and i can imagine a lot of reasons why someone might reject that ; she’s a lannister, she’s not .... great as a person and her reputation isn’t phenomenal either. after the death of her first husband, too, i can imagine her prospects were pretty slim. still, the lannisters are ambitious and would have sought out as good as match as they could have.

family of her late husband. yea, i specifically didn’t pick a house for her first husband to be from because i wanted to leave ‘em open for other applicants but also because i wanted to leave it open in case it’s a plot anyone would like to take up ! most of the story around that is also very vague so as to fit with pretty much any ideas/plots someone has going on. would be really fun, tho ; possibly they can even have been co-conspirators and this person inherited jeyne’s late husband’s title and lands ? or they absolutely hate jeyne and think she’s a murderer which .... she very well might be.

sister in law. the widow of jeyne’s older brother, irwyn ; i hc that they had a daughter but tbh that’s just flavor text and i am open to changing pretty much anything i’ve got going on. i may send in a wc for this at some point too ? anyway, whether she stayed at lannisport or returned to her family home or anything, idk. seems like an unlikely connection to get picked up but it’s definitely out there if it happens to fit for someone.

brothers’ connections. again kind of vague ? would probably work best for men from the northern kingdom who may have known them or trained with them, or else fought alongside them against the ironborn. could also be ladies with pretty much any kind of attachment to either of them idk ; jeyne doesn’t have a whole lot of family left so this is my way of trying to have connections thru her family anyway.

childhood friends. idk how many characters from the westerlands there are around rn, but bring them to me pls. would love some childhood friends for jeyne ; whether they fell out of touch, or still write each other monthly letters. them being a ward at lannisport, or jeyne being a ward at theirs for a time is also a neat option !

allies. not quite friends, but potential partners whose ambitions align with hers. she has connections to the wealth of lannisport and the might and strategic position of harrenhal ( though harrenhal is truly weaker than she’d ever admit ) and honestly would support just about anyone if it meant she got lannisport. she’s power hungry what can i say ?

former flings / secret lovers. firstly these can be of any gender as jeyne is ... peak evil bisexual tbh. yes i’m queercoding my villain and i think that’s very sexy of me. these are also just pretty vague ideas, and absolutely do not need to be particularly romantic ; they could have had a more lengthy affair or just hooked up at a wedding or a tourney or something.

travellers. both lannisport and harrenhal are pretty common places to pass through. on a sea journey on the western coast one is likely to stop by lannisport, and harrenhal stands practically at the center of westeros, which is a fun opportunity for jeyne & your muse to have met even if they live very far way or are unlikely to have met in other ways ! especially considering harrenhal’s size it’s a good stop over for travellers with a larger retinue. idk i just want an excuse to plot with everyone.

Is it just me or did TRoS make every Skywalker except for Han look like some level of a neglectful asshole towards their child, especially given how the movie frames their complete and total embrace of Rey without any reservations. The implications were unintentional ofc because I’ve never come across a more thematically void, thoughtless story in my life, but the implications that they unintentionally put in there make all the Skywalkers look like assholes

Yes, it does, and yes, it’s horrifying.

Leia: post-ROTJ canon establishes that Leia has serious unresolved trauma towards the genocide of her planet, and especially that this was overseen by her own biological father, who tortured her and was the very villain she fought the entire war against; her unresolved trauma manifests in a fear/apprehension of the Force and what her heritage in the Force (i.e. the darkness of Anakin) might mean. This trauma causes her to hide Vader’s identity from Ben, to live in fear that the curse of her bloodline was passed onto Ben and might make him into a monster, and to shunt her to her brother in the hopes that Luke could “fix” Ben for something he was born with and for nothing he ever did. Ben falls to the dark partially because his mother’s fear of her own blood got warped into him believing that Leia feared him, that he was born a monster, and that he could never escape the shackles of his inborn genetics– hence he believes the only thing he can be, that he was born to be, is the “heir apparent of Lord Vader.” At this point this is for nothing Ben himself did, merely the fear that he could become Vader because of the bad blood Leia herself passed onto him.

Also Leia: immediately senses Rey is a Palpatine, but this is okay because Rey is Good and Pure™. Is a Jedi suddenly, but didn’t want to use this ability to help her son...just cause

Luke: Like Leia, Luke has unresolved trauma related to Anakin, and to the Jedi Order for allowing Vader to be created from him. Even though Luke has reconciled with the identity of his father, he still fears the darkness that Anakin passed to him, and which he shares with Ben as a family member. He sees Ben’s “mighty Skywalker blood” and fears a repeat of Anakin and the Jedi Council creating Vader. Again, for nothing Ben himself did at this point. And then one night, Luke reads Ben’s mind and reads his intrusive thoughts that his abuser put there, and immediately goes into kill mode. Again, for nothing Ben actually did. He fears to train Rey because he senses how similar she and Ben are, and fears fucking up Rey the way he fucked up with his nephew.

Also Luke: Blood isn’t everything, Rey Palpatine. I might have permanently scarred my nephew for thinking Naughty Intrusive Thoughts that I thought immediately heralded the second coming of Vader because of the evil running in his bloodline (not mine tho), but I’m totally past that now. Let the past die, and all that, amirite?

Do you think deep down that Higgs wishes things were different? That he wasn't the way he was? I just really want to love the man and put the pieces back together for him :( I also like how Sam was all for just beating the shit out of Higgs and leaving it at that....

Hey there, nonny!!! Wow, that’s a complicated question that probably has no easy answer, as people may have different interpretations of Higgs as a character. Of course he’s done awful things, of course he’s an unapologetic asshole (which I like btw, that’s his role xD) and he seemed to be having a good time wreaking havoc all over the place.

First, I have to make it clear that I haven’t played the game (gaaah I’m on pc and I’d like to pre-order as soon as I can spare some money ;A;) so there are many details I still don’t know. However, I have watched the cutscenes and read Higgs’ journal and, boy, did it break my heart…

Long story short, and at the risk of bordering headcanon territory… what you imply may not sound so far-fetched.

Spoilers beneath the cut!

His dad died before he was even born, his mom died not long after his birth and he was left under the care of his uncle, his mom’s brother. Higgs described him as an ugly and violent man full of anger, and by the looks of it the man wasn’t right in the head and lived terrified of the monsters lurking outside. His uncle locked him up in an underground shelter, never allowed Higgs to go outside and told him it was a very dangerous place. He made his nephew believe that they were the only ones who had survived and only terrible demons remained. As a little kid, Higgs’ only glimpse of the world had been through a monitor screen.

Heck, the first time Higgs even saw the sky and the mountains and felt the air on his face, was after his uncle died. Higgs was a kid who needed to leave that place, something inside him was begging him to get out of there because he felt that he would die in body and soul if he stayed any longer. So he planned his escape and hoarded supplies to take with him, but when his uncle caught on he gave Higgs a severe beating. It wasn’t the first time he subjected the kid to physical abuse, beatings were the norm for Higgs… no matter the reason. Higgs always tried to convince himself that was his uncle’s way to show he loved him and wanted to protect him from the evils of the world, but in some of his writings Higgs wasn’t too sure of it. In another entry, he compared his uncle to a saint and someone to whom he owed everything, his life and his powers, which obviously was just a coping mechanism for him.

However, that was the worst beating Higgs had received in his life. His uncle had lost it, he made their place a wreck and tried to murder Higgs by strangulation so Higgs was forced to kill him in self-defense by stabbing him in the neck with a kitchen knife. He probably was barely a teenager… and he had killed his uncle. No matter how abusive the man had been all those years, the experience was still very traumatic for Higgs and affected him deeply because that man was the only family he had, the only meaningful connection in his life no matter how messed up it was. But cutting him loose was the only way to leave that shelter that had been his home and prison for so many years, the only way to be free.

As you can imagine, growing up under recurrent physical and emotional abuse + social isolation + murdering someone at such a young age wasn’t a good combination and it surely caused some serious mental problems for him. Not to mention he also suffered of DOOMS which is a condition that, apart from chiral allergies, torments people with terrible nightmares about the end of the world. These dreams might have exacerbated the mental conditions he was carrying from childhood and we can’t forget his constant exposure to chiralium. His high level of DOOMS made him powerful, true, but it also worsened those issues turning him into a ‘homo demens’: a mad man, someone who has lost all sanity.

Higgs grew up longing to taste freedom, something he didn’t have as a child, and something he envisioned for America once he discovered there was a whole world out there waiting for him… a place where people could be free. Which is something that inspired him to try and unite the country by making deliveries and keeping people connected. At first it was because he was a kid who needed to eat, but in time he took some pride in the fact people had to rely on him and it might have given him a purpose, something to hold onto and keep him grounded. His uncle had always been against reconnecting again, he always preferred isolation and the idea of living in their shelter until the day they died, but Higgs wasn’t content with that. He tried to be something different from what his uncle taught him to be… he worked towards strengthening the community, he sounded genuinely worried and frustrated about the state of affairs and wanted to change the situation, aware it would take some big efforts before there were substantial improvements. But his intentions began to degenerate the more time passed and you can notice the megalomaniac shift in tone of his journals. In the end, in his own derangement and delusions of grandeur, he might have come to the conclusion that all was futile and it was better to just let the world go to shit in the next stranding because what good it was living like that. I may be wrong, though.

All things considered, and looking back at what he went through, I think it’s safe to say that deep down in some small corner of his mind he would have wanted his life to be different. Because being Higgs Monaghan never gave him a lot of happiness, no matter how many masks he wore to hide the scared and lonely kid that he tried to bury and forget.

Lmao that fight tho, they just beat the crap out of each other in a good old-fashioned fist fight. And when they were lying on the beach, covered in tar, and hurting all over, Higgs just laughs it off and makes some sarcastic remark like the lil shit he is. Sam was tempted to smile too XD

In another world, perhaps those two could have been good friends :’v

Avengers: Endgame Review

Spoilers inside.

So I was up early to work. Then went to see the movie. Then rushed through a very late lunch and went to work to another school. I’m home now. I’ve had time in all the betweens (bus time, basically) to think the movie through, and here’s the mess that’s come of that:

First of all, the audience were al F - A - N - S so everything that happened got a proper response, so yay for that.

Steve, oh, my Steve. I fucking knew it was gonna go that way. The moment they had him talk about Peggy as the love of his life, and then about how many gizmos they had and how they were just enough to go and return, and whatever. I was sure they’re gonna have Steve not come back at some point. And then, turns out, they had to put the stones back where they belonged. Fantastic.

And Bucky knew too. Of fucking course he did.

“Gonna miss you, buddy.”

“It’s gonna be ok, Buck.”

FUCK ME.

Can we talk about how unfair the whole of it was? Cause, like, hurrah! There’s a gay character who’s played by a Russo interacting with Steve. And Steve used the good ol’ Bucky trick to get Past!Steve to stop. And Stucky hugged and had a First Avenger callback.

Guess what, Marvel? That ain’t enough to fill whatever LGBTQ+ quota you think you’re filling. And I insist: You had a witch fall for a cyborg, but two men we actually know and care about being in love is not at all possible in your universe?

FUCK YOU. Seriously. I’m mad.

I’m mad cause of course they didn’t make Stucky happen. I knew that, they just weren’t going to, not ever, the fuckers.

But they’re also making me feel mad about what Steve got, which in their eyes is a happy ending. And I don’t wanna be mad that Steve got a happy ending, but I am mad that it was all very heteronormative, and there was never going to be any other way. I’m not sure I’m making sense, but like, also, Steve kissed Peggy’s nephew, which ewww. And like, how was Peggy the love of his life? How long did he actually spend with her? Explain. And was it a Peggy from another world or how did that even work? And how did Steve get old? Was that supposed to happen with the serum?

And why in the fucking hell would he choose to live his life without Bucky?

Can someone explain that to me. How come Bucky is the most important thing and then, once it’s not a plot requirement anymore, he becomes an afterthought. Honestly, this was a fucked up thing to do. Like, no, I’m sorry, I can’t celebrate Steve “getting a life” when he left his Bucky behind. The one he fought for in all the other fucking movies we’ve seen them in. That you fucking created, Marvel. FUCK YOU.

Let’s move on, or I’ll never end my rant:

I loved the exploration of the past with the present day characters. Steve’s was obviously the one that stood out the most. The moment he set foot on that elevator, I swear, I was fucking giggling, and the way he bypassed those fuckers... and his beautiful, lil’ ass.

His lil’ worthy ass, and we all fucking knew it.

There’s gonna be a Marvel series with Bucky and Falcon... This Falcon? Won’t he be Cap? IDGI.

Will Bucky visit old!Steve? How will Buck move on? I--yeah, no, back to the other things:

When the screen read “Five years later” we all freaked the fuck out. It was awesome.

Nat. How the fuck, who do they think, I mean, they just keep killing women, cause there’s so many of them, and all are as important, since they’ve always had them front and center in this universe...

That was just awful.

A guy behind me was sobbing at Tony’s death, and I thought it was funny cause he couldn’t keep it in, and kept trying to not be so noisy anyway. I felt a bit evil, tho I was also tearing up, but mostly cause of Morgan and Pep, since Tony... well, I never liked Tony much.

Is Gamora from the past in the present? Will she be back, since Quill was looking for her?

Loved the small bit where Marvel ladies got to shine. Small because, Marvel being Marvel, went all Girl!Power for a second and then got tired of it and went back to a men’s world.

Even though Carol is clearly the most powerful in all the ‘verse and her being knocked out was ridiculous as fuck.

“It was him or a tree?” I LOLED. Give me Nebula forever. Also, her sorta friendship with Rhodey, yes!

Like Val said, I don’t think I like this weird Bruce Banner/Hulk situation. And I thought he didn’t get to mourn Tony properly.

Fat Thor... I feel like there were so many wrong things with it, but Thor was amazing regardless cause Chris is fucking fantastic. I loved his moments with Frigga, I was so sad about her death (and I still think the soundtrack had to do with it a lot), so it was good to have her back.

“Eat some salad.” LOL

I loved Scott so much. He was great and hilarious and lovely.

I think the more Marvel tries to get me to care about Clint, the less I do. I don’t even know, I think it’s that awful press junket a few years back that ruined Renner for me, and I just don’t give a single flying fuck about Clint. But I do love Laura cause of ER, so I was glad to see her.

All in all, I did enjoy the movie, and I was completely unspoiled, once more, so I knew nothing, not a single thing, and I loved some of it, liked a lot of it, and hated some of it too.

Music, cinematography, most of the script was on point as per usual.

It had an ending feel to it, for sure, and I don’t know how I’ll feel about what’s to come when there’s no Steve, at least not our Steve, to look forward to.

I’m legit forgetting everything, my head is a mess -- I swear I felt traumatized for real after it was over -- so I’ll keep adding whatever comes to mind, but this is it for now.

Oh, and the “What about Bucky?” chants feel more appropriate than ever.

Okay, so...since every one is sharing their opinion about Luke’s characterization in TLJ, I felt I also I had to share mine since I roleplay, in fact , Luke Skywalker. He’d always been my favorite character since the first time I started watching Star Wars saga. What drew me to him have been many things tbh ( NOT ONLY MARK HAMILL’S BEAUTY LMAO ) his kindness, his innocent naivete, his progression during the movies into a wise loving man. In other words , I always enjoy watching how he grows up as a character. Luke Skywalker is always full of surprises tbh. For real tho, you don’t know what expect from him. He can be ‘ soft ‘ but damn badass too. BUT !!! that isn’t what I wanted to talk about.

Obviously , there will be TLJ spoilers below so I suggest you to not read if you still have to watch the movie. :)))

At first, I have to say--The last Jedi left me deeply perplexed. Tbh I’m still having conflicted feelings about this movie----mostly is because of Luke’s characterization---- other things too, but I’m not going to focus on these and call the film ugly because overall , apart few things , I really enjoyed the film.

I didn’t even know there was a discourse on Tumblr about the movie tbh, but I kind of figured that out while I was watching the movie because some scenes just---left me confused. LIKE REALLY CONFUSED. Especially some Luke’s scenes at first ( TIDDY MILK , THIS SCENE WILL REMAIN PRINTED IN MY HEAD FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. ) but what left me astonished even when I walked off the cinema have been Luke’s behavior. I KNEW when I was going to watch the movie that Luke had changed MUCH during the years. That I wasn’t going to see the same innocent farmboy he was in the original triology. Like , I sort of expected old grumpy / depressed / Luke lmao, but in some scenes Luke seemed just---kinda...out of character for me. But I kept watching the movie because I felt there must have been a reason if he was behaving like that ? and in fact there was a reason. That vision part left me really angry because I felt as if they were placing ALL the blame on Luke for Kylo Ren’s turn . And Luke ??? attacking a defenseless teenager ?? LUKE SKYWALKER ?? The man who refused to kill Darth Vader ? the man that saw past the darkness around his father’s heart and decided it was worth to bring him back to the light ? that seemed like bullshit to me tbh. The more I think about it the more angry I get because that gives something to hardcore Kylo stans for shit on Luke and place all the blame on him for Kylo’s actions because the ‘ pOOR BoI HAVE bEEN aBUSED !!!1 ‘

No, Snoke or not Snoke Kylo is responsible for his actions. As Vader is responsible for his wrongs and---even Luke.

FRIENDLY REMINDER that Luke is a human being and HE !! IS !! ALLOWED !! to commit mistakes !!!

yes and no.

I do believe that Luke would do ANYTHING when it comes at protecting his loved ones. He is KNOWN for have made harsh decisions ( reckless like his dad before him lmao ) but he would always come back to himself before doing something that goes against his beliefs. Example ; Luke attacking Vader on the death star during the duel in the throne room and ALMOST killing him. But he did? no. He realized what he was about to do and threw away his lightsaber. I do believe the same thing happened with Ben. LUKE NEVER WANTED TO KILL HIS NEPHEW. HE DIDN’T WENT TO BEN FOR KILL HIM IN HIS SLEEP AS MANY PEOPLE ON THIS HELLSITE SAY. Luke went there for TALK to him, but he found Ben asleep. Now I don’t remember what they said in that scene very well but Luke felt the the darkness had already taken over his nephew and decided to look into his heart for see if what he felt was right. Whatever thing laughed at his face ( I do think that it’s been Snoke to plan everything tbh though it’s pretty much canon I think ? ) scared him because he saw the death of so many people and the destruction of the temple , and made him raise his lightsaber BUT NOT, FOR STRIKE BEN. I do think he raised his lightsaber during that vision for strike at whatever thing was inside Ben’s head at the moment ( SNOKEEE E E ) . But after he realized what he was about to do and that in front of him there was BEN , not that creature , he felt an immense guilt and shame of himself that tbh changed him forever tbh. That’s my theory tbh the books will explain more about that scene. But if the creators have in mind to make Luke seem evil during that scene then fuck off I will go down with my theory forever :))) that is about Luke raising his lightsaber. That’s the only theory I will accept because I HIGHLY refuse to believe he raised his lightsaber for kill Ben. That’s not Luke. The Luke I saw in TLJ left me much perplexed because he was just so much apathetic you know ? like as if he’d lost interest in everything after that night and retired on that island for die. WHICH HAPPENED AND IM STILL NOT OVER THAT. I knew they were going to kill off Luke at some point during these movies but IT WAS JUST SO SOON. But they couldn’t sadly make him live forever and tbh I would rather prefer Luke dead being a force ghost and living happily with Han , Anakin and Padmé , rather than have a Luke who is full of remorse and hates himself that much to retire on a island for isolate himself for the rest of his life.

Depression can do shit, people. Depression can change people. Luke is a character that has a soft heart and feels very much strong emotions so no , I’m not angry for depressed! Luke.

He just doesn’t think himself as a myth anymore. People believe he’s a sort of ‘ god ‘ but instead he only thinks himself as a failure and this hurts me so much because Luke’s just so broken during TLJ . It looks like he’s about to cry during that scene where Rey tells him she hasn’t intention to fail him as Ben did. Luke has lost faith in himself and in the people. He isn’t an innocent farmboy anymore, he has TRULY grown during the years and learned to see the galaxy the way it really is. But there is still hope. And he died giving Hope. He will always be a hero.

Okay, so. At first I wanted to keep this more short as possible but I lose my mind when talking about Luke because I just??love?? him so much ?? and tbh I wanted to find a way for not hate his character in TLJ because I haven’t only liked the movie, but also Mark Hamill’s performance in it. THAT MAN ALWAYS GET ME LMAO.

Said that, that is the only way I will accept Luke’s behavior in TLJ. He is a human being and he’s allowed to make mistakes. He is allowed to feel emotions and most importantly he is still a damn.badass.hero. I’m going to be slighlty canon divergent on his blog, meaning that for the moment I don’t agree on a few things of Luke’s story but I recognize other things about his arc too. That goes when interacting with sequel! era characters tbh or when using that verse for do things. Just wanted to tell ya’all my point of view so hopefully people doesn’t think Luke as a bad character or as the full cause for Ben Solo’s turn. Because I believe with all my heart he isn’t.

I’m going to RP Luke as a broken man that has lost hope in himself. A man that is just tired of fighting and just wants all of that darkness to end.That until Rey comes on the island ( Ya all think I’m over Reysky ? lMAO I DONT BELIEVE KYLO AT ALL THO ) and brings a flicker of hope in him. Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 Recap Pt. 2

WARNINGS: SPOIIIILERS; not a D@€n€r¥$ stan; a Jonsa shipper with a pair of very tight shipper-googles.

4.- Now we back on Dragonstone, Missandei is worried cuz they have got no news about her bae, and D is like calm down girl he’ll come back soon, and they both smile and giggle about the sexy-time, this scene made me smile a lot, it’s been a loooong time since we saw Missandei and D talking like friends, because that’s what they are fundamentaly which is something I’ll bring up in another point.

So Jon interrupts them because he wants to show D something, D and Missandei exchange that glance you give your bff when your crush is near, so I gather there is def some interest on D’s part.

Jon says he wanted her to see the stuff before they destroyed it, D is clearly impressed and wait the fuck up, I know D didn’t know about the dragonglass and I already said I disapprove of her willful ignorance, but this is serious she should know her castle, Jaime and knew Casterly Rock so well, that he predicted D’s army was going to take it easily, sloppy D very sloppy.

Anyway she is awed by the beauty of the place, and I don’t blame her obsidian is beautiful, but that is not the only thing he wanted to show her.

He leads her to a smaller cave, and shows her some drawings the children of the forest and the first man made when they fought the WW together, Jon asks for her help again and D seems to believe him now.

The chemistry improved greatly, and I could see hints of romance, that is until D opened her mouth, she begins real well saying she’ll fight for the North but only if he bends the knee, Jon replies with far more grace and patience that I ever could, and says his people will never accept a southern ruler, she is like if you do they will is your pride more important than their safety?

And I have a LOT to say about this, as lot of people noticed this is a clear parallel to the S5 Mance vs Stannis plot, where Jon pleads to Mance to bend the knee and even makes a jab about his pride (because Jon didn’t wanted Mance to die) now we know Mance was right, if he bent the knee he would no longer be King of anything because he would have let his people down doing something they didn’t want, but even if D’s words parallel Jon’s she is not a parallel of Jon, she is fullfiling Stannis’s role, a prideful King that met his demise because he thought he was the one promised he ran into a battle recklessly and he refused to help the Night Watch with the WW til he won the throne. Now of course this sounds familiar and the parallel doesn’t bode well for D, because at the end Stannis was the one whose pride ended up killing everything he cared about.

Jon is of course Mance in this, and is intresting Jon himself saved Mance the awful death Stannis wanted to gave him: burning him alive. Who else likes to burn people? D of course! and we can safely asume Jon is in danger (I mean taking him hostage is not an exactly friendly thing) from the preview of ep. 5, and I’m actually thinking all this hyping of the Targcest is to hide the very clear Targbowl that is already being foreshadowed, and Jon will once again pull a sex to convince I’m on your side he did with Ygritte to avoid dying. And I’m actually with those who think that if feelings are involved they will be pretty one-sided but I’ll elaboraste on it on another scene.

After that frustating interaction, they get out of the cave, Tyrion and Varys look very worried, and inform they’ve taken CR, D is like That is a good thing why you so sad guys! And we skip the whole explanation of how they got played, Tyrion immediately apologizes, and Jon wants to gtfo but D insists that he and Dadvos stay just so she can humilliate Tyrion in front of more people, and this is Meeren all over again, where Tyrion has to take resonsability for everything even if his plans were the clever and diplomatic solution and D’s had the ruthless crazy one, also the fact that she is questioning his loyalty is golden really when he is the one who taked such wonderful things about her last ep. Also she says she is pissed because how is she gonna feed her army and people if Cersei took all the food (this will be important later)

Anyway she asks Jon what he thinks she should do, he is like super uncomfortable but she insists, and he tells her if she wants to make a difference between herself and Cersei the dragons are not the way, that will just make her more of the same shit Westeros wants to get rid of but D is like fuck clever plans Imma be a dragon like hardcore granny wanted. ( so more of same we’re choosing right D?)

5.- Back in WF (thx the gods) Brienne is trashing Pod once again, Arya interrupts them and asks to spar with Brienne cuz she was the one to defeat the Hound, Brienne agrees but isn’t very sure even if she is totally charmed by Arya.

From upstairs, Sansa who is once again disscusing food, stops to watch along with her creepy shadow (aka Littlefinger)

Gosh this scene is truly a thing of beauty, Arya and Brienne are both amazing warriors, and both are truly happy to be around another. Sansa is very worried tho, and LF is happy cuz I’m guessing the dumbass thinks he can manipulate things in his favor (wrong but let the bih have dreams).

6.- Once again on those long ass stairs of DS (honestly I could have watched a whole episode of Brienne vs. Arya) and Dadvos is like what do you think of her? Jon is like who? Dadvos is like D!! Jon says and I quote “She has a good heart” and I have a few ideas why he said this:

- he isn’t gonna talk badly about her in her castle, we know her people is there, Varys is there and everyone knows he has soles everywhere.

-he remembers what Tyrion said about her and the slaves. Tis is my guess really.

-he is the worst judge of character ever. Cuz even if D hasn’t been evil and crazy like he probs expected, she hasn’t been very kind with him (she did allow him to mine the dragonglass but she got him kidnapped basically).

And Dadvos is like yeah I saw you staring at her ‘good heart’ aka her boobs, first I was like WTF is this forced romance they trying to feed me?? But now that I think about it Dadvos is no political mastermind, but he did spent some time with Stannis and he has learnt from him (Fewer am I right?) he and Jon are at a very precarious situation, and they are clear on the won’t bend the knee stuff, so what option is left? Well marriage. This seems to me am attempt of Dadvos at playing the game of thrones, if Jon romances her (I don’t think marriage in itself is Dadvos goal here) she might be more willing to help them and Jon probs won’t have to bend the knee. Cuz if D&D wanted me to buy the whole he is super atracted to her, a shot of him staring at her (we’re seen Jon lust eyes before with Mely, and he def hasn’t looked at D like that) or her boobs would have been quite enough, plus Jon’s reaction to this, he is not blushing or stammering like he does in this situations he is like ‘WTF why you talking about boobs when we have to defeat the NK????’ and goes on to talk about the NK.

Dadvos insists on talking about boobs when he spots Missandei, they make conversation with her (Dadvos insist in call him King pls), and she says she and the people who came with D from Essos believe in her and choose her as their queen for herself and not for her name or who her dad was, and if she so desired she could go back to Naath and D would totes support her I believe only the last because as I said before, they are friends before anything else.

Let’s break this down, it’s very important she said the people who came with her from Essos choose her as their queen, because is that true? Well the Unsullied, Varys, Tyrion and herself maybe, but let’s remember she and the Unsullied had no real experience with another form of government except from the Masters, so that doesn’t say a lot about D as a ruler apart that she had a good heart and liberated them, they choose her out of gratitude really if you think about it.

Varys and Tyrion had literally no other option, Tyrion was being persecuted for the murder of his dad and his nephew and Varys couldn’t go back even if he wanted cuz Cersei would have killed him for smuggling Tyrion, and he wanted to check out D Targ for himself, they arrived at Mereen when it was a freacking chaos and that was D’s doing yet they still choose to follow her on the idea that freeing slaves=a good person and hopefully she would do some good in Westeros even if she was not grand on politics they would be by her side (let’s be honest, they both Love to think they are the cleverest people in the world) and with Dragons, Unsullied and Dothrakis what could go wrong amirite? Well they were both idiots if you ask me.

Now the Dothrakis are a different matter altogether, she took their army by force. If one really thinks about it Cersei and D ended up S6 in the same way, Cersei blew up the Great Sept of Baelor (th Main place of the Faith of the 7 in Westeros) with wildfire (used by Targs) and seized the control of the 7K and D burned the Dosh Khaleen (the Main place of the faith for the Dothrakis) and seized control of them. Only D’s has an awful touch of racism, you see when Hernán Cortez first arrived to mexican coasts, zapotecos thought he was Quetzalcoátl (one of the Main gods from our parthenon) for his shiny armour, White skin and bread (that’s how Quetzalcoátl was described) and that’s why they took him in and gave him lots of gifts, fed his armies, etc. And then you have D coming out of the flames without a single scratch, even the most cynic person would be impressed, Dothrakis most likely thought it was a sign that she was the Stallion that mounts the world, and that’s why they are following her really, because they have very different ideas of rulership and we have already seen that on their treatment of Viserys whom they thought (and well he really was) a weak ass bitch for waiting the comfort and luxury of a westerosi king.

So again how is their support for her a sign that she would be a good queen or that she is in any way the same as Jon??? (It’s not)

And my suspicions about Dadvos intentions seem to get confirmed when he is like you mind if I switch sides, he doesn’t say this seriously at all, but he is trying to be like see she is so good I might follow her and you both are really not so different.

All this flies past Jon as soon as he sees a Greyjoy banner.

Episode 30: The One where LWJ Wishes Jin Zixun Would STFU and Die Already

Okay, so we’re still in Yiling

Non-wangxiantics stuff happens

Unimportant nonsense happens

Ooooh, jc just appeared, looking awesome in purple robes as usual

Turns out he’s helped jyl sneak away so she can show off her wedding robes to wwx!!! And we get some wonderful Yunmeng Sib time!! I LOVE MY YUNMENG SIBS SO MUCH

So now we get the obligatory soup time with the yunmeng sibs

And wwx is all, “for who???”

And jc says, for my future nephew!! And he looks so damn pleased and proud when he says it. JC WANTS TO BE AN UNCLE SO BAD me too jc, me too

Wwx: hmmm, well, the next generation for the jin clan is “ru” so how about jin rulan?

Jc: jin rulan? It sounds like the lan clan. Why should a kid of the jiang clan and jin clan be called “rulan”??

Omg jc sounds so offended here; chill out bro

They all have much more sibling time together but since there’s no more wangxiantics we’re gonna skip over it (EVEN THO IT HURTS ME TO DO SO BC I LOVE MY YUNMENG SIBS AND I WANT TO SEE THEM HAPPY AND TOGETHER FOREVER)

We cut to the Burial Mounds where there’s a Wen family dinner going on

Wwx is all spacey bc he misses his sibs so much but manages to distract EVERYONE from it by making grand declarations and generally being an over-the-top Drama Bi.

WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS LET THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU TAKE CARE OF YOU LET THEM TRY TO MAKE YOU HAPPY STOP MAKING YOURSELF MISERABLE OMG

A-Yuan time!

Wen ning saved some of jyl’s soup to give to a-yuan!

He gives a-yuan a taste of the soup and a-yuan’s all “delicious! One more spoon!”

And after wen ning gives him more, he’s like, ONE MORE SPOON!

PRECIOUS, HE’S PRECIOUS AND SO CUTE

Then we get some Sad Times in the Demon-Subdue Palace where wwx has the saddest series of flashbacks ever

the promise he made to JC (twin heroes of yunmeng!!) that he didn’t keep

and then the oath on the lantern (always stand with justice and live without regrets) which he half-keeps

and then his declaration in the rain with lwj (if i should be killed, let it be by you) which he will keep BUT WE’RE NOT GONNA THINK ABOUT THAT

HE’S SO SADDDDDD

I’M SO SADDDDDDDDDDDDD

THERE’S SADNESS EVERYWHERE

Gross, now we’re in lanling, fastforwarding through that nonsense

Now we’re back at the burial mounds and get more A-YUAN TIME!!

Uh oh, a-yuan just murdered a lotus sprout

He’s all, what’s this?? And yanks the poor thing out of the mudpit it was growing in

Wwx yells at him: WHAT ARE YOU DOING

And a-yuan starts crying and wwx looks like he wants to start bawling too

Wen qing kind of tells him off

a-yuan’s a little kid and doesn’t know better, she says

Wwx gets this defeated look about him and says it’s fine, i see that it’s not meant to be now

LIKE, HE’S JUST RESIGNED THAT HE CAN NEVER HAVE ANYTHING FROM HOME EVER AGAIN?

HE CAN’T EVEN HAVE ONE STUPID LOTUS PLANT BC OF COURSE HE CAN’T HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT

MY POOR PRECIOUS SUNSHINE BOY

After a little adorable convo with wen qing, a-yuan goes to comfort wwx in his cave

A-yuan: i’m sorry i made a mistake. Wq says if you miss your sister, you should go see her

Wwx: she’s so far away...i won’t go

A-yuan: hmmm, you should become a bird and fly over there!

AND THEN THEY PRETEND TO BE FLYING BIRDS AND IT’S SO CUTE

But wwx is still sad inside :(

Now we get a time skip!

~ONE YEAR LATER~

Wwx overhears a bunch of gossipy cultivators talking about how the jin clan is doing a one-month celebration of baby Jin Rulan!!

WWX IS OVERWHELMED WITH JOY

HIS EYES ARE ALL TEARY AGAIN

AND HE’S LIKE, DID YOU HEAR THAT WEN NING? MY SISTER HAD A BABY! I HAVE A NEPHEW!!

Wen Ning is a supportive bro so he’s all congratulations!!!

And then wwx gets all the happiness gets drained out of him when he remembers that he has no official ties to either clan so he’ll probably never get to see his nephew ever

We cut to Lanling, where i guess guests are arriving for the upcoming celebration

We don’t really care about any of these people

EXCEPT THAT ZEWU-JUN AND HANGUANG-JUN’S ARRIVAL IS ANNOUNCED

AND WE’RE GONNA LISTEN TO LWJ TALK ABOUT HIS BELOVED SOULMATE

Unfortunately he’s talking to asshole cousin jz, fuck that guy

Lwj: since all of his seniors are invited to the first-month celebration, wei ying should also be invited as he is the baby’s senior too

Lwj says this all respectfully, gaze steadily forward and not looking directly at anyone

Jz: you want us to invite wwx even tho he’s the enemy of all four clans??

Jz gives them a summary of the conversation

Oh, i forgot to mention jzx has been here the whole time too but he’s basically useless bc he never shuts up his cousin

Jgy is all like, ah, hanguang-jun is being kind but perhaps inviting wwx is not the best idea ever

And jz is all well, I heard that he went to the burial mounds but no one knows why he went there!

Lwj: to visit an old friend

LWJ IS NOT ASHAMED OF VISITING WWX. HE DOESN’T CARE IF THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS HE WENT THERE TO VISIT HIS SOULMATE

Jz: an old friend?! Wwx is a ruthless killer! Everyone wants him dead! Why do you have a friend like him?

I HATE THIS GUY SO MUCH

Lwj: when did he kill ruthlessly? Please tell us exactly.

DAAAMMN, LOOK AT MY BOY GO!

Jzx finally cuts in here and shuts them both up

He approaches his dad and is like, yeah okay so wwx killed some of our guys before and he’s kind of rebellious or whatever but like hanguang-jun said, he hasn’t done anything wrong for a whole year!

Then he goes on to show us that he’s completely whipped for his wife (AS HE SHOULD BE) by saying, also, since wwx has seceded from the jiang clan, jyl hasn’t been able to see him and she still misses him very much!!

Jzx: it’s a good opportunity to bring him back

His asshole cousin is all, are you crazy??

WILL THIS GUY EVER SHUT UP, OH MY GOD.

But thankfully lxc puts in his two cents!

Lxc: jzx makes a good point. If wwx intends to change and return to the right path again, it’s a good thing!

Jgs starts droning on and on about stuff i don’t give a damn about and lwj throws him the dirtiest of looks the whole time lol

But he more or less agrees to let wwx come on the condition that he turns in Plot Device 2

And jgy is like, SWEET, we can write him a letter telling him he’s invited but he must come alone (BC THAT AIN’T SKETCHY AF) and then once he’s here we can tactfully request he give me, i mean, the jin clan Plot Device 2

Lwj was looking concerned basically the minute jgy started talking but here he chimes in

Lwj: what will you do if he refuses?

BC HE KNOWS WWX IS NOT GONNA HAND THAT THING OVER TO THE JIN CLAN BC THEY’RE A BUNCH OF SLIMY SKEEVY BASTARDS

Then jgy does that thing where he replies without actually answering the question

Jgy: hanguang-jun, why are you so pessimistic? Wwx is not evil or vicious! (FUCK YOU JGY, WE ALREADY KNOW HE’S NOT EVIL OR VICIOUS, NO THANKS TO YOU) i’m sure if we talk it out, he’ll be reasonable and make the right choice!

Oh, thankfully, lxc answers the question properly

Lxc: even if wwx disagrees, he can go back to the burial mounds as long as he promises not to kill any innocents

Which, wwx would definitely promise that bc he’s never killed an innocent person IN HIS LIFE

BC UNLIKE THE JIN CLAN BASTARDS HE HAS INTEGRITY AND A FULLY FUNCTIONING CONSCIENCE

Jgy: hanguang-jun, can we bother you with the errand of writing the letter?

LOL

Jgy says that and we immediately see lxc smile at his little brother

Like, heck yeah, bro you have the chance to talk to your soulmate now! (LXC is trying to win back his greatest wingman title lol)

Ofc lwj keeps his face blank, but he bows and says yes

BC HECK YEAH HE GETS TO DELIVER GOOD NEWS TO HIS SOULMATE

HE’LL BE ABLE TO MAKE WWX SMILE

OFC HE’S GONNA BE ALL OVER THAT!

And that’s the last of the wangxiantics for this episode. Not a lot of them this time around, and none with shared screen time

But you know what

That’s okay

Bc this shows that they’re always on each other’s minds EVEN AFTER A WHOLE YEAR APART!!
