“Miya-san!”
Osamu’s head swivels towards the sound, and he spots you right away even though you weren't the one who called for him.
You’re a few metres down the road, sitting on a bench in front of a bustling restaurant, slumped over onto the shoulder of your junior who seems to be doing everything he can to keep your head tipped up against his arm. Kimura, the name Osamu had once been introduced to him as at one of the events your company held, has blushy cheeks when the older man approaches—he seems flushed due both to being flustered and a little tipsy, and the knot of his tie is loosened at the base of his throat.
“Kimura-kun,” Osamu greets him with a dip of his head as he approaches, his eyes scanning your seemingly sleeping face. “She asleep?”
“No,” you slur in reply, but your eyes stay closed. Osamu’s not certain it’s the truth, and even less certain you realize he’s the one who said it.
“I-it’s all my fault,” Kimura squeaks, looking increasingly like he might burst into tears. “They were trying to make me drink more, but Senpai kept switching out our glasses when the other section leads weren’t looking.”
“Yeah, that sounds like somethin’ she’d do,” Osamu replies with a fond but exasperated sigh.
“I’m sorry for contacting you so late,” Kimura says, flinching as you slump away from him unexpectedly in your drunken stupor. Osamu is quicker to react than the younger man, stepping in and catching you in the crook of his elbow before you can go toppling off the bench onto the sidewalk. He keeps you steady.
“Don’t apologize, I appreciate ya callin’ me to come get her—and thanks fer lookin’ after her,” he says down to the younger man, who seems relieved now not to be responsible for keeping you upright. “Tell her to bring ya by the shop for a meal sometime as payback. She owes ya one.”
Kimura’s eyes widen and he shakes his head like he couldn’t possibly accept, but before he can decline the offer Osamu turns his attention back to you. With an arm wrapped around your waist, he gently pries you from your seat.
“Up ya go,” he mutters encouragingly as he eases you onto your feet.
Your eyes flutter slowly open, looking around blearily for a moment as you take in your surroundings.
“Samu?” you ask, his name slurred on your alcohol loosened tongue. You perk up noticeably in his arms once you realize just who’s holding you. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to take ya home, Cinderella,” he says with a light laugh as your fingers twist into the material of his sweatshirt against his chest. He looks to Kimura again, who’s also risen to his feet now. “We’ll be off, then.”
“Thank you, Miya-san!” Kimura bows deeply forward, a nearly perfect 45 degree angle at his waist.
He’s a sweet kid, Osamu can’t help but think, even if does follow you around like a puppy.
Osamu helps you down the sidewalk towards his waiting truck, then up into your seat on the passenger’s side. He makes quick work of buckling you into your seatbelt even as you squirm counterproductively, then he jogs swiftly around to his own side of the truck and climbs in behind the wheel.
Kimura waves from outside the restaurant as the truck pulls away.
“Seems like ya had fun tonight,” Osamu remarks as he drives in the direction of your home. You hadn't even wanted to attend this work gathering, but had been forced to by your director. Now look where it had gotten you.
You’re fiddling with the controls of the radio, stations crackling in and out as you switch rapidly through the channels.
“Drank too much,” you complain, settling on a talk radio station (of all things) that seems to be midway through discussing prefectural bylaws.
“Don’t I know it,” Osamu quips in reply and you swat at him harmlessly over the centre console with a laugh.
You’re turned in your seat, your body facing in his direction, watching him as he keeps his eyes on the road. He can feel your gaze tracing over him, but doesn’t glance back.
“Hey,” you whisper, something conspiratorial in your tone. “Wanna know a secret?”
“Sure thing,” he plays along with your antics, fighting back a grin.
It’s silent for a moment—only the voices on the radio discussing trash collection to be heard. Osamu pulls up to a red light, and finally looks over to meet your gaze.
Your eyes are glassy and a bit unfocused, but they’re bright with affection.
“I have a crush on you,” you tell him with a giggle.
Osamu’s chest pangs.
The light turns green.
“Well,” he remarks, returning his gaze to the road ahead and proceeding through the intersection. “That’s good.”
From the corner of his eye, he sees your shoulders slump dejectedly.
“I’m being rejected,” your next words are positively morose. You turn away from him and lean your body over to the side. He hears a loud thump as your forehead head hits window on your right.
“Hey!” Osamu chides you in concern, reaching out and grabbing the collar of your blouse to tug you up a little straighter. It’s not the most elegant motion by any means, but he’s fairly limited with his other hand on the wheel and his eyes still on the road.
“Owww,” you complain, rubbing your forehead weakly. You bat the hand he has clutching the collar of your shirt away. “You’re so mean.”
“How’m I mean?” Osamu guffaws beside you.
“I just confessed my love for you, and all you had to say is ‘that’s good’!” You turn your body in your seat to waggle an unsteady but judgemental finger at him. “A woman’s heart is a precious, fragile thing, y’know!”
“There’s nothin’ fragile about ya,” Osamu mutters under his breath, thinking about how much you had to drink that night as a prime example of this fact. “Yer tough as a brick wall.”
“Mean!” you jeer at him again, your mouth agape in the wake of his words.
Osamu flicks his turn indicator on before he pulls his truck over to the curb, putting it into park. You’ve stopped outside a convenience store, and when he turns to look at you, the fluorescents from inside the shop bathe you in a backlit halo where you sit in the passenger seat.
He grabs your hand. The one you still have lifted to point at him.
“D’ya see this?” he asks, holding your hand up in front of your face. The ring on your fourth finger catches in the glow of the convenience store lights.
Your eyes widen.
Osamu holds up his left hand where there’s a ring that matches your own.
“I said it’s good y’got a crush on me ‘cause we’re married, dummy.”
Your lips form a surprised little ‘o’ as your eyes flicker rapidly from the band on your finger to his own and back again.
After a moment you grin, your eyes squeezing shut with how high your cheeks lift. “What a relief!”
Osamu is quick inside the store, just popping in to buy a vitamin drink for you and a pack of cigarettes for himself. He doesn’t smoke as much these days—you’d nag him incessantly if he did—but every so often he gets a craving, and tonight is one of those instances.
The two of you sit side by side on the curb in front of the shop, the truck parked a little ways down the road.
Osamu takes a drag of his cigarette, sighing in contentment with wispy plumes of smoke slipping from his lips. He peeks over at you from the corner of his eye.
“Ya feelin’ better?” he asks.
You’ve got the little bottle of vitamin drink cradled in your hands, working your way through it slowly. You hate the taste of them, he knows that, but you’d regret it more tomorrow morning if you didn’t force it down tonight. You nod a bit, and seem to have sobered up in the time since Osamu arrived to take you home.
“This reminds me of when we first started datin’” Osamu laughs to himself. And he means it. Everything about it. Being out so late. The taste of the tobacco on his tongue. The way you keep creeping a little bit closer to him unconsciously, as though his space isn’t already yours to freely take. “I can’t believe ya forgot we’re married.”
You groan in embarrassment. “I’m sorry.”
He bites back a grin, trying not to revel too much in your misery.
“And I’m sorry I made you come pick me up,” you mumble after a moment, taking another sip from the little bottle in your hand and wincing against the bitterness. “I planned to just take a cab.”
“It was that little junior of yours who contacted me,” Osamu laughs, lifting the cigarette to his lips and holding it there while he rifles in his pocket for his phone. He holds the device out so you can see the conversation where your subordinate had commandeered your phone, remorsefully messaging Osamu asking him to come and collect you from the bar. He’d even used a funny little sticker of a bunny with tears in his eyes bowing apologetically—it bears a striking resemblance to Kimura himself.
“That kid,” you sigh, shaking your head lightly as you rub your temple. Your eyes suddenly widen and your face snaps towards your husband. “Wh—“
“Tsumu’s there watchin’ ‘em,” Osamu laughs, reaching up and plopping a hand down atop your head. “Not that there’s much to watch since they’re in bed. He was still at the house when Kimura-kun messaged me.”
You lean into Osamu's touch as you think of your twins at home, tucked up in the little bed they share, and it makes your heart ache a little bit. You wonder if you’ll be able to creep in and give them a kiss goodnight when you get home without waking them.
You go terribly quiet for a moment, and Osamu finishes his cigarette. He stamps it out on the curb beside him and then slips the extinguished stub back into the pack to throw into an ashtray later.
“Samu?” you call to him, your voice quiet.
He glances over at you, and sees the way you’ve wrapped your arms around your knees. The anxious posture worries him.
“I didn’t forget you, I promise,” you whisper. “It’s just… sometimes I think this is all too good to be true.”
Your husband watches as you admire the ring on your finger that reflects the streetlight overhead.
Osamu smiles to himself, scooting closer to you on the curb.
“I know,” he reassures you, wrapping an arm around your waist and tucking you into his side. Your head naturally falls to his shoulder. Familiar and instinctive. “I was just teasin’ ya.”
You smell like alcohol. He’s sure he smells like cigarettes. You're in rumpled business casual, and he's dressed in the sweats he planned to wear to sleep. He reaches over and takes your left hand in his own—your wedding rings overlapping. And for a moment, in spite of all the ways the two of you have changed over the years and all the ways that life is different now, everything is exactly how it’s always been.
He tilts his face and presses a lingering kiss to your temple.
‘I’ve got a crush on ya too, by the way.”

╰┈─➤ BEGINNING
Tanaka (Name) was a proud straight A student. Student class president. A student many parents dreamed their child was. But unfortunately, he was a beta.
To others, this didn’t matter but to his family—a long line of prestigious alphas… He was a disappointment. (Name) had no longer allowed that to bother him anymore.
He just focused on getting good grades and setting himself apart from others. Yes, it was originally to get attention from his family but it never happened.
(Name) knew he just had to live with it. A sigh left his lips as he stretched out, a yawn on his lips. He was on the roof top eating his lunch when his nose twitched.
Smoke.
A snarl appeared on his lips as he shot up and followed the nasty smell to it’s owner. There, a corner not too far from the door, sat a random student.
“Smoking? On school property?” (Name) asked, gaining the student’s attention. Much to his own surprise, the student didn’t look scared. Not one bit.
A smirk was on the student’s face as he stood up and walked over to (Name). He was taller and more athletic than (Name). Track, possibly.
“What? Are you going to snitch?” The student laughed, blowing a puff of smoke into (Name)’s face.
(Name) coughed at the smell and reached up to pull the cigarette from the student’s mouth, dropping it onto the floor to step on it.
He grinned at the dumbed look the student gave him. “No. Do it again and I will. People deserve two chances. Now get to class.”
With that, he was off to pick up his lunch and go back to class. But he wasn’t able to get far when a hand grabbed his wrist.
“What?!” (Name) yelled before he was rudely slammed into the fence surrounding the roof top.
Maybe (Name) was just crazy but he felt a blush creep on his face when he got a better look at the student in front of him. This student was beautiful, really. Shaggy hair that almost covered his eyes and a mole right underneath his right eye.
“A beta like you has no idea what type of trouble you could’ve been in if it was any other alpha you did this to.” He said, his eyes scanning (Name)’s face.
“Alpha, beta, omega! That’s all you guys fucking care about. Now get off!”
“It does matter. Because you’re beta you don’t notice it but it’s our identity. And someone as weak as you should be careful angering an alpha.”
(Name) rolled his eyes. “Alright, sure. Now get off.”
“Watanabe Riki.”
“Eh?”
“My name.”
“Oh well, I didn’t ask. Tanaka (Name).”
Riki simply huffed before pulling away, a small smirk on his lips. (Name) fixed his clothing, making sure his glasses were sitting straight on his nose.
“You look like a cat,” Riki muttered before walking away.
(Name) was honestly confused. Who just says that and walks away…? Oh well, he hoped to never come across the little shit again.
Life doesn’t go the way he wants, obviously. Because here he was, staring down at a student that was said to be still in the gym. They were in the storage closet, biting at a jacket.
Even as a beta, (Name) knew when an alpha was going into rut. And right in front of him was Watanabe Riki, furiously biting at his own jacket.
It had been maybe a month or so since he last saw him.
He had asked around if anyone knew him but most omegas whined at how good he smelled or how beautiful he was. Other alphas said that he was either cool or a little shit. Betas didn’t care about him.
Most betas kept to themselves really. Since betas were so rare compared to everyone else it made sense. (Name) didn’t have much friends though. Only one omega girl, Kimura Nana.
A teacher had told him to make sure the gym was empty before locking it. (Name) made sure to stay farther back from Riki, not wanting to be noticed by him yet.
He needed a teacher. But what would the teacher do? The only teachers left were two betas. If he made any sudden sounds, would Riki get scared and run away?
A grunt stopped his thinking as he turned back to face Riki only to jump when he was much closer than before. (Name) was terrified. Yeah, previously he didn’t care about that stuff but Riki scared him.
Ever since his weird little speech about not upsetting the wrong alpha, he got a bit scared.
Riki wasn’t even wrong. Alphas were way stronger than omegas or betas. It certainly wasn’t fair but he had to take that up with biology.
“Watanabe….You need to call your parents.” (Name) muttered, holding a hand out to make sure he wouldn’t come closer.
Riki was silent as he glanced around before sniffing the air. His pupils dilated as he turned his attention back on (Name).
“(Name)…” first name basis already?! “Why’d you hide it?” Riki question, a childlike grin on his face.
“Hide what…? What are you talking about?”
(Name) was frozen in his spot as Riki stepped closer. He gasped in shock as Riki pulled down at his collar, giving access to his neck. Riki leaned down and sniffed, a small sound of purring being heard.
He’s heard his mother and father purr once, not towards him. No one has ever purred about anything he’s done for them. (Name) couldn’t help his sudden interest in Riki’s odd behavior.
“That you’re an omega.”
“Hah?! You’re going crazy, Watanabe! Give me your phone so I can call your parents!” (Name) raised a hand to push him away only to not even make him flinch.
Riki smiled dumbly at him. Yeah, this rut was taking over his brain. (Name) flinched at the touch of his hair as Riki moved it away for more access to his neck.
(Name) had been growing out his hair. It was mainly as a fuck you to his mother since she believed he needed to at least be masculine if he fucked up being an alpha.
It had only really reached being a mullet at this point but a few stands had reached his shoulders.
“I think we’re made for each other, Omega.”
“I’m not—”
“Run.”
(Name) blinked. “Huh?”
Riki stood up to his full height, easily towering over (Name) with his 6 feet and 2 inches. (Name) in comparison was just around 5’8. Betas usually didn’t grow taller than average anyway.
“Run, Omega. Unless you just want to give yourself up now.”
(Name) wasn’t exactly thinking when he immediately began to run. Riki wasn’t just talking out of his ass. He was talking about a mating chase.
And (Name) running was basically confirmation that he wanted to be mated. People rarely did this type of mating anymore, most being too lazy.
It was really only a way to get the couple extra horny for their first mating. (Name) wasn’t a runner, especially compared to an alpha who possibly played track.
The sun was already set as he tried to find any teachers to help. But they were all gone. What the fuck!?! He panicked before realizing he could hide in the student council classroom.
Bad part was that it was on the third floor. Using any remaining strength he had, he ran up the stairs to the third floor. (Name) was tired.
God, he put all the energy into studying that he forgot to train his endurance. He was right outside the door, panting as he fished out the key to open it.
It was right after he opened it, he was shoved inside and the door slammed close. Riki was right there, standing in front of the door.
(Name) groaned. He didn’t have any energy to fight him off. “Watanabe. Your rut is making you stupid.”
Riki didn’t answer, walking over to (Name). (Name) struggled on what to do. He couldn’t think straight. Something was wrong with him.
His pants felt wet…
Suddenly, he was pushed on top of the table in the center of the room. (Name) grunted out in pain as Riki muttered something.
“You got me worked up, Omega.” Riki grinned, reaching down to pull off (Name)’s trousers. It fell to the floor, pooling at his feet with his boxers.
(Name) gasped at the feeling of Riki’s mouth on his ass. Oh, he was really dripping slick. But that didn’t make any sense.
Was he a late bloomer?
He couldn’t think straight with Riki hungrily eating his slick. The feeling of his tongue really disgusted him in his mind but his body was into it.
Whimpers left his mouth as he tried to pull away but was held close by Riki.
“I’ll fuck you properly in your nest, okay?” Riki said.
“Nest…?” (Name) whined, confused on what the fuck he was talking about. He was mainly surprised that Riki could actually think clearly right now.
Was he not fully in rut yet?
“I just had to make sure I wasn’t smelling something else,” Riki muttered, pulling up (Name)’s pants.
“I’m so confused…” (Name) pouted, finally being able to move around to face Riki.
“You’re an omega. That’s all. I found out when we first met.” Riki said, reaching over to pull off (Name)’s shirt.
“What?? How? I’m a beta!”
Riki hummed, “you used to be. But I always knew there was more to you.”
“Huh?”
“We went to the same middle school. But I don’t think you remember me. Since idiot alphas like me aren’t important,” Riki snarled, a look of anger in his eyes.
Oh.
Oh… (Name) was a bit of a little shit in middle school. He was no bully but he certainly hadn’t learned to not say everything out loud about people he didn’t like.
Due to his obvious mommy and daddy issues, he started to take out any anger on all alphas. He had stopped in high school—having grown up but of course, he couldn’t change what he did in the past.
“So did you fake your rut or something?”
“No. It’s coming in a few hours. I’m sure if you knew or pay attention to alphas, you’d know that if I really was in full blown rut that I wouldn’t have done a mating chase.”
Riki lightly nipped at his neck, earning a gasp. “I would’ve fucked you right then and there.”
(Name) blushed. He could feel more slick dripping out of his asshole. Oh he’d have to get used to that.
“I originally just wanted to scare you but I think this is better,” Riki chuckled before grasping at (Name)’s hair, pulling his head back.
(Name) gasped in shock as he felt sharp teeth on his neck. His scent gland. Riki was biting it. A sudden rush of pleasure passed through him as he arched his back in a scream.
He was getting claimed to some random guy.
How would his parents think? How would this affect him in the future?!
“Awe, you came,” Riki said after he pulled away, blood staining his lips. His hand rubbed at the tent in (Name)’s pants that were wet from cum.
(Name) twitched at the feeling before pulling at Riki’s shirt and pulling him in for a kiss. It was really the sudden claim, is what (Name) would tell himself later.
But a claim doesn’t really do that. Sure it’ll make him feel closer to Riki but it’d never force him to be affectionate towards him. Riki also seemed confused about this sudden kiss.
(Name) pulled away, a dazed look in his eyes as he leaned down to his neck and bit his scent gland. Riki grabbed at (Name)’s waist but couldn’t push him away.
He really only planned to screw (Name) over but not allow him to claim him back. But now they were both screwed in being claimed to each other.
(Name) pulled away, only a little bit of blood on his lips as he smiled at Riki. Yeah, he was definitely not thinking straight right now.
Riki would ignore the happy purring his chest as he picked up (Name) to take home. He was lucky his parents weren’t home tonight.
He knew no sane person would ever claim anyone they hated. But he did hate (Name) for bullying him in middle school.
He wanted revenge. It was literally the only reason why he followed him to this dumb fancy school.
But he only did something this year, their third year.
No way, did he actually want (Name)…?
No.
No….
Riki shook his head. He needed to see a therapist, quickly.

word count. 637
Tangerine had noticed a change within you recently. Though it wasn't hard, anyone could.
He could see it in your eyes, the exuberant shine almost fading with every one of your early starts and late finishes. And those tired, half-smiles you'd give him when he questions it only prove his point more.
He knew you were under a lot of stress lately, everything in your life catching up with you, and all he wanted was to help you. Even if it was carrying your weight on his shoulders for a few minutes - anything just to give you a moment of ease.
It had gone past midnight, but you were nowhere close to finishing the massive assigned workload. The dining table filled with stacks of your papers, the surface repurposed as an office desk once again. By now, the words on the page were far from legible, the lines blurring and swirling together as you pushed through the last section.
"I don't get it," you mutter to yourself, dropping your head into your hands.
"What don't you get?" Tangerine asks, appearing in the doorway as if he were a genie.
"I don't know," you mumble, rubbing your face in your palms. "All of it... it doesn't make sense— none of it does. And I've been reading it over and over and," you cut yourself off with a sigh, looking over the array of papers in front of you.
"Come on, now," he hushes, moving across the room to stand in front of you. "You're knackered. You need good sleep," he adds, placing his hands on either side of your head, making you face him.
"I can't. I have so much to do," you faintly exhale - the sound weary and worn down.
His thumbs glide under your eyes, the pads running over the dark circles and tired skin - the act as if he were trying to soothe you. "I'll help you out in the morning, alright? But not now. You need'a sleep."
"I can't," you softly shake your head, his hands moving with the faint movement. "I can't sleep knowing how much work I have."
He sighs, his head cocking to the side to maintain the eye contact you were so desperate to get out of. "When you hurt, I hurt. And you're hurting a lot right now, aren't'ya?"
The lack of response from you, silently answers his question.
"That's what I thought," he says, leaning over to press a kiss into your hairline. "I'll lock up. You go get ready for bed, yeah?" he laces his hands into yours, helping you from the seat. "I'll follow up in a minute."
You do as asked and get ready for bed, continuing the rest of your routine from a couple hours before - brushing your teeth and peeing, changing back into pyjamas. You get into your side of the bed, the comfort almost immediately soothing the aches in your body.
As promised, Tangerine follows closely behind, entering the bedroom with a glass of water in one hand and a pack of paracetamol in the other. He makes his way around the bed to your side, setting the glass and painkillers on your nightstand.
He gets in bed from his side, slipping under the covers, his arms instinctively reaching for you under them. He pulls you towards him, holding you tight.
"Can you give me food poisoning tomorrow?" you attempt a joke, burying your face into his chest.
"I'd rather throw myself down the stairs and break my legs and then sit in A&E all night so you could get the day off," he whispers, stroking over the back of your head.
"Might try that myself."
He presses a kiss into your cheek, tucking your face back into the comfort of his chest. "Enough now, get some sleep."

(Y/n) felt baffled from what Kafka had told her. For a Mara-stricken individual, he managed to maintain more than just a shred of his sanity, his senses, and his distant memories where most involved would've been buried deep in their graves.
All maintained by a simple desire, a longing to see a beloved he had left behind so unwillingly. The cradle of arms he fled from as soon as things had fallen from their originally planned course.
(Y/n) left Kafka's questioning to someone else, and she moved away to ponder on her thoughts and opinions. Her heart was heavy with guilt and misery, feeling empty and lonely. Her steps were hollow and light, walking off without a motive.
Perhaps it was the Dan Jia in her heart that longed for the arms of her lover's embrace...? Could that still be possible despite her accepting the fact that Dan Jia was once her past and she had learned to let go of the past, Dan Jia still had longings ?
Or...was it herself that yearned for what she once had, with a lover reformed anew ?
(Y/n) admitted that she indeed longed for Blade, his arms and warmth bringing her great comfort and familiarity. She admitted that perhaps there was a longing for his renewed self to be with her as they once were, but was that what she really wanted...?
All he wanted was to go home and rest...
And all she wanted was to dance again under the moonlight...
But what about Jing Yuan...?
She couldn't just leave him. She didn't have the heart to. Not after what he had done for her before and after her slumber...
But if the time came to choose...
She would choose--
"Lady (Y/n) !" a voice snapped her out of her thoughts.
The dragon lady immediately turned around to face the voice that called for her, and there was the Fu Xuan, looking straight at her and coming up to the taller lady.
"Fu Xuan." (Y/n) greeted with a nod of her head. She knew what the Master Diviner wanted to ask her. It was an itching question that everyone who saw what Fu Xuan did and heard what Kafka said clearly had the same questions.
What was her connection to Blade...?
"I'm sorry if it stirs up...distant woes..." Fu Xuan began, feeling a little hesitant to ask the question plaguing her mind.
"B-but I hope you understand the utmost importance of this information ! It's for the safety of--!" "Worry not, Master Diviner." (Y/n) said softly, her gaze softening as her luminescent (e/c) eyes landed on the pink haired lady, who was usually so composed, now reduced to a stuttering mess in her presence.
"I...was Blade's past lover. Well...Dan Jia was." (Y/n) said, a hand on her heart that beat so distantly in her chest. She felt a gnawing void eating away inside her, so she moved her hand to the accessory dangling by her pointed ear, fiddling with it with her fingers.
"The legend of the lovers under the moon...isn't merely a legend, you know ?" She said with a silent sigh, a distant look in her eyes.
It was a legend. It was widely believed to be true, a strong belief amongst the commonfolk to never overstep the boundaries of interracial romance, lest they befall the pain of separation due to the differences in their lifespans.
The legend was indeed true, but it wasn't the entire truth either. It was a forged story to show the disastrous end of the lovers. The one that died. And the other that fell into madness. It served as a warning to remind them. But of course, it was treated as a tragic love story and had young lovers to be daring like the heroes in the tale.
"But Lady (Y/n)-- AH!"
The ground beneath them shook, a loud rumbling filled their ears along with sharp gusts of wind whizzing past them. The wind was exceptionally dangerous, most of them struggling to keep their eyes open.
"Lady Fu Xuan !" (Y/n) called out, reaching for Fu Xuan's hand to help stabilize their stance on the shaking platform.
That was...before she heard Tingyun shout over the gusts.
"Th-The Ambrosial Arbor !"
(Y/n)'s head whipped from looking at the Master Diviner to the direction where the dormant tree would've been. And she gasped, the sight before her sending cold chills down her spine.
She had never seen this before. Not in all her hundreds of years living.
The tree that had been subdued for eons...was growing again. The trunk got taller and taller, gold substance running through its veins with power and life. Fiery golden leaves sprouted and combust into eternal flame, lighting up the sky with green-yellow fire that could never be put out. Some began to shed, its eerie golden sheen making it seem like it was gold leaves instead of fruit of the forbidden. Words began to hang from the trees like large talismans, words of immortality and curses in headlines.
Screams of civilians were loud and heard from the streets, the divination commission, filled with terror and question and horror. No one had ever foreseen the signs of the tree, feeding seeds of terror like plague spreading.
But this was indeed the sign of the Abundance. The forbidden seed that the Plagues Author Yaoshi had planted. And it was blooming again.
Stelle looked at the tree in concern, though she knew little of its origin and its representation. The Stellaron Hunter behind her smirked, already anticipating this from the anonymous source, Destiny's Slave.
Kafka chuckled, a sweet sound of her sigh as magenta eyes watched the chaos and discord surrounding her. The binds that held her wrists together snapped in a blink of an eye, without the littlest effort. She admired the state of her body and her clothes, before turning to head off without anyone noticing.
"Stelle !" (Y/n) exclaimed as when she rushed over and heard the sound of the chains snapping into nothingness. The female trailblazer perked up, turning to (Y/n) who pointed in direction to Kafka who was escaping without hesitation nor curiousity.
Just as she was about to catch up to Kafka, a figure with long dark hair landed between them, separating the two. The divine weapon in his gloved hand shone, the gold in the cracks glittering in the dim lighting as the figure stood up.
Dangerous red eyes watched Stelle carefully, his blade pointed to the young woman menacingly. Then they landed on (Y/n), without a hint of surprise nor did he even try to search for her.
Blade knew she was there.
But (Y/n) was shocked to see him.
Lover or not, he was threatening the lives of the innocent, so she rushed forward and pushed the taller girl behind her, fan in her hand. She was ready to fight him should the need arise.
But looking into his tired but passionate eyes, she knew he had no intention to attack. Just standing still to serve as a warning.
"Let's go, Bladie~" the wine-red haired woman called out as she looked down from the platform they were standing on, as if to approximate the height of the platform to the main ground or to foreplan their landing.
"Two more places to visit..." the woman said, before turning around and falling off the ledge freely, arms widespread as she did.
Blade immediately put the shattered sword behind his back in a stance, giving (Y/n) one last longing glance. It seemed that he had more to say but out came no words nor did his mouth open to say the words he desired to whisper.
But they needed no words to be able to tell what he wanted to say.
"Stay out of this."
With that he swiftly left and dived down, following after Kafka.
The two swiftly landed on the ground and merely walked through the public without the need to hide nor camouflage. The revival of the Ambrosial Arbor served as the perfect distraction.
Kafka smiled and laughed softly as she walked past the guards and civilians, taking in the sweet feeling of fear, a feeling she wasn't able to experience herself. Then she saw her companion that looked a little less than usual.
"Oh, don't look so disdainful, Bladie...you'll get to see that princess soon than later." She said with a soft chuckle leaving her slightly chapped lips.
"No." The brooding man answered in a deep voice, as if holding back his own emotions and thoughts.
"I don't want her to get involved. I don't want her to get hurt."
"But with the path chosen, she'll have to get involved, whether she likes it or not." Kafka replied with a sorry smile on her lips.
Ah...lovebirds...
"Agh ! Did Kafka escape ? How are we supposed to explain this to the Master Diviner ?!" March groaned, looking down from the platform they stood on, then back to (Y/n) and Stelle.
"If what she said is true, then we wont have to explain anything." Stelle said, and (Y/n) who stood next to her nodded, a frustrated frown on her lips.
"H-hey ! D-did she brainwash you ?!"
(Y/n) chuckled softly and shook her head in amusement.
As they were heading back to meet up with the Master Diviner, who (Y/n) had left hanging a while ago due to the fear of the Stellaron Hunter running lose before them, they had met up with a certain foxian Amicassador who was standing on one of the bridges on the other end of the screens, staring at the tree in awe.
"Wasn't this the dead tree Qingque showed us earlier ? How did it grow all of a sudden ?" March asked as they watched the fiery tree blazing in the distance, fire eternally burning without leaving any ash nor dying out.
"Amazing ! Absolutely amazing !" Tingyun gasped, watching the Ambrosial Arbor with intense fascination in her eyes. "Even the long-lived might not witness something like this in their lifetime ! I'm incredibly lucky !"
(Y/n) could merely stare at the brunette, suspicion in her bright (e/c) eyes. Was this a normal reaction towards the plagues of abundance thriving ? She would've expected a more...horrified reaction, but...maybe that's youth these days ?
Perhaps they didn't really account towards the horrible meaning the tree represented. Nor the sacrifices made to keep it sealed deep down in waters...
"No. This isn't something to rejoice about." (Y/n) said sternly, glaring at the tree with hate and remorse. "This tree...is a plaguemark of the Plagues Author. And it was by no normal means was it revived. It was meant to stay dormant, and sealed."
"Such...extraordinary energy. It's no doubt the Stellaron." Welt said, stepping up and pushing up his glasses up his nose.
"Mr. Yang, do you mean...that the Stellaron is making the Ambrosial Arbor grow ?" March asked, looking at the older man who stood next to the former High Elder of the Xianzhou : Luofu.
"Yes, the Stellaron that the Cloud Knights are searching for must be causing this anomaly !" Welt said, looking at (Y/n) who looked oddly guilty, seeming restless.
She knew the reason for the seal growing weak. It was her own fault. But...
She looked at her own hands.
She alone isn't enough to seal the power. Her power is split into two, and she has no idea whether the authority still lied within her, or was it passed onto Bailu, the current High Elder...?
And she didn't know what happened after Imbibator Lunae's execution. Was he safe ? Where was he ? What did he look like now ?
Welt noticed the anxiousness of the woman next to him, and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder as he tried not to startle her. He smiled warmly at her, nodding his head.
"Whatever the cause, we must first go meet Lady Fu Xuan." He said, looking straight into (Y/n)'s eyes.
Yes. That was exactly what they needed right now. So she nodded her head. Welt nodded again, relieved that she was alright and still within the zone.
So off they went, walking towards the inner gates of the Divination Commission to find Fu Xuan.
"Unless Kafka deceived the Matrix of Prescience..." Fu Xuan mumbled, putting her hand to her lips, anxiously biting on her thumb subconsciously.
"Stay calm, Master Fu, the Matrix of Prescience does not lie." Jing Yuan said softly. "The logic you laid out concerning Kafka makes sense-- it helped me fill in another piece of the puzzle."
"I agree that there is a hostile external force at work on the Luofu. The Stellaron didn't appear out of thin air-- someone managed to sneak it onto the ship." Jing Yuan explained to the anxious Master Diviner, but his own face looking grim and serious, noting that this wasn't something to be taken lightly.
"As for the culprits behind the Luofu's internal strive, I believe we are dealing with the so-called Disciples of Sanctus Medicus-- that shadowy organization of the Denizens of Abundance."
"Kafka's revelation's confirm my suspicions." Jing Yuan said with a nod of his head, a small smile on his lips.
But his insight was what shocked Fu Xuan instead of relieving her. "You..." She stuttered, thinking about her choice of words for a bit. "General, when did you have these suspicions ?"
This man surely wasn't a force to be taken lightly. But with that lazy gaze of his and his lack of enthusiasm for work made people look down on him or even disregard him as a threat.
But he wasn't the one of the seven Arbiter-Generals for nothing.
"The moment the planter of the Stellaron revealed themself." He said simply, crossing over his arms. "The Xianzhou has the blessing of the Reignbow Arbiter-- only another Aeon's Emanator would be capable of sneaking onto the ship without my knowing."
"We are dealing with an external threat."
"The Stellaron corrosion continues to flood into the ship, yet it bypassed both the Seat of Divine Foresight and The Shackling Prison...there is forethought here-- our enemy must have had the access to Luofu Intelligence for things to unfold this way..." Jing Yuan said, looking around the base of the Divination Commission.
This reminded him of a scene long in the past.
Of an arrogant man seeking to be paid favor by the man with the coldest stares and the most selfish and self-centered man, resulting the in the death of a beloved.
"It is evident now..." Jing Yuan sighed softly.
Shall events come to unfold the same as in the past, he wouldn't let the same outcome happen again. No. This time, he's an adult with power and experience.
He'd do anything to protect that soft smile on those smooth lips he watched to be still for centuries.
"The Stellaron Hunters..." Jing Yuan addressed, looking at a little solemn at the mention of the faction. "They aren't the ones behind the curtain. No, as soon as I set eyes on Blade, it was clear to me. But why is he here ?"
He knew the answer to that question. But that wasn't enough of a reason. Why did he bring Kafka ? Why this timing with the Stellaron burst ?
"And why did he draw the Astral Express ? That piece of the puzzle still eludes me."
The man thought long and hard about it, but he was still confused to specifically why the Astral Express had to be brought here onto the Xianzhou Luofu. Why not anywhere else ? Why during this timing ?
He couldn't answer that himself.
He sighed.
"Nevertheless, Lady Fu." The tall general said, looking at the smaller lady before him. "Your intel means the puzzle is more complete than it was before, haha."
"These Stellaron Hunters are a captivating group-- such lengths to get the Xianzhou and the Express on the same track. Who would've believed it ?"
Fu Xuan was getting a little pissed though, this wasn't anything related to the current status quo.
"General, we must retain all urgency ! The Ambrosial Arbor--" "It's the Stellaron." The General cut her off with a frown on his lips.
"No need to search high and low-- the traitors have planted it in the Ambrosial Arbor's delve, thereby causing the tree to grow once again. The Disciples of Sanctus Medicus couldn't hold off any longer." Jing Yuan said, unfolding his arms.
"Every crisis has a turning point." Fu Xuan said softly. "A problem is easier to resolve when you know where it lies."
Jing Yuan then smirked at her words, putting his hand on his hip as he knowingly raised his eyebrows at her. Fu Xuan didn't get it for a moment, but when she did, she frowned with a small pout on her lips.
"Am I coming up with the plan again...?" She sighed, looking up at him.
"Of course," Jing Yuan said without shame nor hesitation. "I'm sure you have a countermeasure at the ready, Master Diviner."
"From my perspective, convening the Cloud Knights is our immediate priority." Fu Xuan said after a while of thinking. "We must head into the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor, expel the Stellaron spirits, and prevent the Arbor's resurrection."
"I hope we need not ask the assistance of the Saltator Lunae...it would be...quite poor of us to make her use her powers after being in and out of consciousness repeatedly..." Fu Xuan said, looking down, deep in thought. "I propose that we request her help shall the need arises."
"Mhmm~" he hummed in satisfaction, nodding his head to the Master Diviner's thoughts towards resolving the matter. "As ever the Master Diviner's omniscia provides the fastest solution. However, sometimes speed is not everything."
"I have known the Stellaron's location for a while now, so why have I held back our forces ? Why did I let (Y/n) roam around even when I knew is her...unstable constitution ?" He asked, letting Fu Xuan think for a moment.
Fu Xuan thought for a moment, looking down before her eyes went back up to Jing Yuan.
"General..."
"You're a scoundrel."
Jing Yuan chuckled softly, shaking his head softly. Those words...were somewhere distant in his past, in his memory, through years of living.
He looked at the board of Starchess before him, smiling smugly as he looked at his opponent who sat across him. She frowned, her eyebrow twitching in displeasure and irritation.
"Jing Yuan, you scoundrel." She said with contempt.
"Haha~ you cant say that, (Y/n). It is unbecoming of the benevolent and highly-respected Saltator Lunae~" He said with a smirk on his lips, chuckling with pride and slyness.
"And you cannot use such underhanded tactics in trying to fool me." Dan Jia said, hands on her hips as her beautiful hair swayed in the wind.
"Who said I was fooling you, dear friend ?" He asked, reaching out a hand to sweep back her soft and silky strands of hair behind ear.
"I was just...suggesting you a move and you fell right into my trap."
"You're just too kind for your own good, Dan Jia." He said, putting his chin in the palm of his hand, a light blush on his cheeks as he retracted his hand from her.
"You should be careful. People might take your kindness for granted, or even take advantage of your naivety."
Dan Jia pouted, crossing over her arms over her chest with an embarrassed blush on her cheeks for being called naive and gullible.
"It would surely eat you up one day. So be careful..."
And it really was the reason for her downfall, being betrayed by her family. Her lover and her brother.

Yui: Have you no shame you were kissing a sleeping women!??
Kino: Excuse me I didn't even got the chance to kiss. The one who assaulted you are them.
_He said as he pointed at Reiji and Ruki.
_Yui looked at around to see a lot of men who are now looking at her. She scanned all of them.
Ruki: Quick grab her!!
Yui: Wha No-o don't c-ome near me leave me-e!!
Ruki: Look we won't hurt you we just want you to come with us.
Yui: I d-don't want to go anywhere! please just let me go!
_Yui looked at them with fear in her eyes as she was feeling overwhelmed with a lot of men around her.
Reiji: Shu!! Hurry grab her!!
Shu: How annoying. Do it yourself.
_Yui got startled as she heard a voice right besides her she noticed a guy on floor. She didn't realized he was this cloes to her she hurridly moved away.
Shu: Pink.
Yui: Huh?
Shu: Colour.
Reiji: Colour of what?
Shu: Of your underwear.
Yui: ............
_Yui flushed at his remark and scooted away from him while shu gave her a lazy smirk.
Ruki:You!! How dare you!!
_Ruki said as he took his sword out seeing this everyone took their sword out yui immediately flinched at it.
*Cling* *Cling*
Yui: Wha-ts happening here?! Why are you doing this?! Who exactly are you all??!
Kino: Eve don't worry we won't hurt you after all you are our princess!
_Kino gives her princely smile and moved towards her but was blocked by Shin who moved infront of him.
Shin: Not so fast!! I won't let you touch her.
_Shin drew his sword he looked at his shoulder to look at yui.
Shin: Don't worry Eve I will save you from them and get you out of here!!
Yui: Is it real?
Shin: Huh?
_Kino and Shin both looked at yui confusingly.
Yui: The sword?
Shin: Of course it is!?? What are you thinking?
Yui: What? But why?!
Shin : Why what?!
Kino: Look stop all of you I am confused here?! What are you trying to say princess??
Yui: You are confused but, I should be confused who exactly are you?! All I thought you all were cosplayer?
Kino: Cosplayer?!?
Shin: Why would you think that?!
Yui: Well... you all are calling me Eve and acting like a knight and your dress is weird too you all are dressed weirdly!
Kino: Excuse me!? I have the best sense of fashion among all of them also don't call our dressing weird rather you are acting strange!
Reiji: Eve you do know what purpose you have.
Yui: What?
_Yui looked at him confusingly. She then looked around.
Yui: Also where is the priest?
_Now all of them looked at her.
Reiji: Pardon. What priest?
Yui: Well this is church so there must be a priest! Where is he?
Yuma: Eve you do realize that we are the only ones here!
Yui: Eh?
Yuma: Don't tell me that Eve is mentally unstable?!
Ayato: What but isn't she Eve??!
Kino: Isn't Eve is supposed make a ruler? Why is she talking weirdly?!
Shin: Come on she isn't unstable like you can clearly tell the difference between her and Kanato.
Kanato: Exactly---What did you say???!!!
_He gave a murderous look to Shin.
_Yui than felt someone circling her waist she looked at her shoulder to see a red haired guy.
Ayato: Oii!! No one will touch her!! She is now my property!!
Kanato: Hah when did she become yours Ayato???! Teddy waited so long for her to wake up!! I DEMAND YOU GIVE HER TO ME!!
_All of then covered their ears because of his screeching.
Yuma: You brat!! Shut up!! You aren't alone here!! All of us waited here for sow to wake up!! You ain't special go and play with your toys.
_Kino, Shin and Ayato snickered. Kanato seeing this walked up to Yuma.
Kanato: What did you say to me?
He said as he grabbed his collar. But their difference in height made the audience except Yui chuckle. Which further increased Kanato anger.
Kanato: YOU!!!!
_Yuma flinched at his sudden outburst.
Kanato: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!
Yuma: What?? But you were the compla-
Kanato: YOU MADE A JOKE OF ME!!
Yuma: I didn't you yourself made-
Kanato: SHUT UP!! I WILL KILL YOU HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF MY HEIGHT!!
Yuma: When did I made fun--
Kanato: SHUT UP!! SHUT UP YOU RUINED TEDDY'S MOOD! I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!!
Yuma: I never asked for your forgiveness-
_Yui took advantage of the distraction and elbowed him. Ayato who was caught off guard let her go and Yui escaped. Yui immediately ran for the door.
Ruki: Eve is escaping Shin go after her!!
Reiji: Yuma this isn't time to play around. Be quick Kino catch Eve. Shu you too!!
Kino: Roger!!
_All of them then became alert and started running after her.
_Yui who was running with all her might started screaming hoping the people will hear her and help her. She hurridly entered a room and locked it's door she decided to put furniture infront of it so it could remain locked just as she turned around she saw all of them.
Yui: AHHHHH!!
Shin: Ouch! Stop screaming!
Yui: HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE?!!
_As she lifted vase.
Ayato: Well we are- Put that thing down!!
Yui: I won't don't come closer you weirdos!!
Yuma: Eve listen we won't hurt you we are here to save you just come here!
Yui: Don't come closer!!
Ruki: Huh! As if she thing like that can stop us!!
_Yui threw the vase towards Shu as for some unknown reason he was lying closer to her but Shu dodged it.
Shu: How dare you!
_Yui noticed a balcony in room and sprinted toward it seeing it all of them followed her but stopped as soon as they say her climbing the railing she was able to balance herself on it she looked towards them.
Yui: Look don't come closer otherwise I will jump from here and you will be sentenced to death!
Kanato: Eh? Death sentence what are you saying?
Yui: Tell me who are you all and why are you doing this to me?!
Kino: Doing this to you?! Excuse me we haven't even started doing anything to you!!
Yui: Liste--kyahhh.....
_Yui was, lifted from the railing into air.
Kou: Hyahhhhh!!! M-Neko-chan Kou has came to your rescue Fufu.
_Yui realized that she is hugged by strange blonde hair guy the guy then placed his head on her shoulder glancing at the crowd.
Laito: Nfu~
Yui: Kyahhh...
_She felt another pairs of hands hugging her.
Laito: Nfu~ Eve-chan~~ you made your suitors wait a lot for you this isn't fair we spend a lot of time without you. Now need to make it up to your Laito-kun!
Kou: Wait a minute!! Laito-kun I am talking to M-Neko-chan you should let us talk alone and leave her I can carry her alone.
*BANG*
_The door exploded and three men entered the room.
Carla: How dare you all come here before us!!
Ruki: Well excuse you, don't tell me you expect us to inform you that barrier is broken. Isn't it your fault that your comrades are foolish.
Subaru: Tch!! It's not like you already took her she is still here and besides we aren't late.
_Subaru cracked his knuckle and looked at all of them before his eyes went to the girl. He immediately blushed as he saw her being gropped by two men.
_Yui who was now confused and scared as she noticed their strength. They are way too strong to take a door down but thinking about what they are wasn't her concern her main concern was to get away from them.
_Carla looked at Yui for some reason Yui felt a lot of scared his presence was dominating and she wanted to hide. He continue to peirce her with his gaze and walked towards Yui. This guy is very intimidating for her.
Yui: Let me go!!
_She said as she started swaying her legs.
Kou: EV-wait stop we will-
Laito: Eve-channn this not a place to get excited, I know you are excited to see Laito-kun but wai--
Yui: Kyaah!!!
"EVE!!"
_Yui was falling she closed her eyes to accept her fate only to feel someone below her.
Yui: Owe!
Shu: You are in no position to say anything like that considering you fell on me!
_Yui got up from floor and saw Shu beneath her.
Yui: Why are you always on floor?!
Shu: ..............
Yui: Aren't you going to answer?!
Shu: Uwa! Troublesome.
_As he got up Yui for the fist time Yui saw their differences in height, as it's the fist time he got up since their meeting and Yui was startled as she saw him trying to grab her.
_Yui immediately bolted towards dark forest.
Meanwhile:
Laito: Uwahhh Eve died I can't believe I didn't get to play with her.
Subaru: Idiot she isn't dead.
Ruki: We really need to find her quickly.
_Carla raised his eyebrows at him as they all were creating too much fuss.
Reiji: Can't you sense her presence?!
Subaru: Tch! What's wrong with you all she is just around here we will find her and that's it!?
Shin: Looks like you don't understand the severity of the situation.
Ayato: You see Eve has slept for too long that's why she is now unstable.
Kou: What? M-Neko-chan no way I don't believe you she is perfectly stable.
Shin: You see she acts weirdly and ask stupid question I am not saying she is fully unstable like Kana-
Kanato: WHAT DID YOU SAY!!?
_Kanato walked up to Yuma and grabbed him by collar.
Yuma: Oi-i!! What did I do?! Why are you coming at me!!?
Kanato: IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!
Yuma: What type of logic it is-
Kanato : YOU MAKE ME BAD INFRONT OF EVERYONE YOU ALWAYS DO THAT! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT PEOPLE THINK I AM LIKE THAT!!
Yuma: It's literally our first meet--
Kanato: SHUT UP I WON'T LISTEN TO YOU ANYMORE!!
Yuma: When were you listen--
_The two continued to argue.
Laito: Eve. Poor Eve-chan she must be scared while walking alone in this scary forest.
Carla: If whatever you said is true that Eve truly is out of her mind then we need to hurry and find her before she does harm upon herself because of state.
Reiji: Hurry!! After her she must be in forest we need to find her before she hurt herself!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yui: Hahhh!! Hurry I need to find someone!! Ngh.
_She fell on her butt after she collided with someone. She looked up to see a guy who was covered in bandages.
Azusa: Eve.
_The unknown guy immediately hugs her. She then started pushing him but he didn't nudge.
Yui: Leave me-e!
Azusa: I waited so long for you to come Eve I am so happy to meet you!!
_Yui looked at him confusingly. Are all guys here have their screws loose.
_She then heard footsteps behind her.
Laito: Nfu~ Ara, Ara Eve-chan you are finally united with your number 1 fan.
Yui: Numbe-er one fan?
Laito: Yes!! Azusa-kun seems to have special attachment to you, you see.
Shin: Hahh!! I finally found you Eve-
Yuma: Eve found yaaa. Ya made everyone so worried about you!!
Kino: Eve here you are!
_All of then looked at each other it appeared as if now they are ready to fight and not so soon the fight began Shin who remained it shadows saw the opportunity and grabbed yui.
Yui: Hel---
_Her voice was muffled by shin hand he hurridly took her away from scene.
Yui: Stop!! Leave me ugh!! Please stop!!!
Shin: Kch!! Shut up and come with me to orange house.
_He roughly grabbed her and started dragging her.
Yui: Please don't sell me-
Shin: Sell you??
_Shin now stopped and look at her confusingly.
Yui: Isn't it what you want?
_Yui thought they all might be drug dealers and are trying to sell her to brothel that's the reason they are so careful with her.
(They all are doing this so that my body remains unharmed and I could be sold at higher price otherwise why were they so concerned when I was falling from railing!)
_Shin confusing expression changes to pity and sad.
(She really is mentally unstable that's why she is saying weird things I shouldn't put more pressure on her fragile state.)
_Yui upon noticing Shin sad eyes and his silence as an agreement to her statement and her tears started welling up in her eyes.
Subaru: Ev-- Hah Shin why is she crying?
_Subaru immediately separated the two and grabbed Yui. Yui again resisted to get away from him.
Yui: How can you do this don't you have a sister will you do something so terrible to her!!??
_Yui questioned subaru.
Subaru: Huh? But I don't have any sister?!
Yui: That- but still you should have some humanity in yourself to do something this disgusting!!
Subaru: Humanity? I am not a human to begin with!!
Yui: That's right you are monster!!!
_Subaru became confused at her outburst he wondered what he did that made her like that?! He didn't deserve to be called a monster, considering it's their fist meeting.
Subaru: Look I just want to take you home to my older brother-
Yui: Huh!! You__ I can't believe you are going give me to your brother as call girl!!?
Subaru: Wha--
_Subaru looked at Shin who still had sad expression on his face. He looked at Shin and Shin upon noticing him made a gesture of saying that she is unstable and shook his head.
_Subaru looking at him realized how bad Eve's condition is became sad as he thinks that his behaviour might upset her more. He looked sorrowfully at yui.
_Yui than notices change in demnor thought that this might be his purpose.
Yui: Please leave me alone!! Let me go!
Kou: Ahh! Found them!! GUYS EVE IS HERE!!
_All the family immediately teleported to the place.
Yuma: Hahh!! Finally!!
Yui: Look please stop all this. Leave me alone don't sell me.
Ayato: Sell you but why would we? I mean you are important for the plan after all you are Eve? Why would we sell you?
Yui: But why me why me out of all the girls in the world why does it have to be me??!!
Laito: 'Girls' there are girls here?
Ruki: Eve you are the only women here along with us!
Yui: Wait a minute!? Aren't you going to sell me to some brothel??
Ayato: First you called Ore-sama cosplayer and now you are calling me a dealer make up your mind cosplayer or dealer!!
Shin: Huh why would we? What do you think we are! Besides there is no brothel here!
Yui: If there isn't then why all of you are chasing me! And why are you saying I shouldn't be harmed!!?
Ruki: Ahh! Things are now getting clearer.
Kino: Yeah!! Right seriously I can't believe it was all for this.
Reiji: It seems Eve has misunderstood our intentions.
Shin: This means that she isn't crazy like Kana-
Yuma: SHUT UP!! Shut your crap!!
_Yuma said as he glanced at Kanato whom upon noticing that he is staring at him glared at him Yuma flinched and immediately looked away.
Yuma: Ain't no way. I am gonna let that kid scream at me!! He mumbled.
Shu: Hah!! Uwah! I just want to go home.
Carla: Don't tell me women you don't know what's your purpose in the game.
Yui: Game? Purpose? What are you saying?!
Reiji: I hope I am not wrong but it seems sleeping for too much has caused her to forget her purpose.
Carla: Say women do you know how to make me the supreme ruler.
Yui: Huh!? What is that??
Ruki: Hah looks like it's time for us to explain you the situation you are in.
I am Ruki, the eldest of orange family there are 13 man over here and there is no women here except for you. There are in total of three family violet, scarlet and orange. The main purpose of these family is to obtain Eve. Once Eve-
Carla: I am Carla eldest of violet. Eve had the ability or power you can say to make a supreme overload. Meaning a king and you are Eve and you have power to do that.
Kino: That's we all were after you we aren't some cosplayer or smugglers.
Yui: Well you did seem like that..
Kanato: Teddy she really thought we were crazy and we all thought you were crazy the whole time.
Carla: Now that everything is cleared out you will now come with us to violet household.
Subaru: Wait a minute!! You all are missing one detail.
Laito: Nfu~ let's not tell her guys poor girl will be so scared once she find out about that.
Kou: Ara~Ara Cmon Laito-kun I really want to see her reaction.
Azusa: Eve..is.. sane.. Eve.. Please.. come with.. us we... will... take good...care of.. you.
Yui: Wait a minute!! I can believe all this, all of you are lying it's impossible that there is no one here except us!
Ruki: Oh really! Where is the proof?
Yui: Proof--I might not have it right now but I am telling truth.
Kino: Hah! Why don't you just stop resisting and come with us? You have no place to go to!
Yui: That's true but I still won't come.... You all are brothers but you don't look alike at all!!?
Kanato: Teddy also thinks exact same!! They all are too weird to be my brothers and that red head idiot to be my twin.
Shin: Excuse me!!? You are actually weirdest of us brothers!! No you are the weirdest of us all--
Yuma: Bro you just shut up!! Don't anger him!! Why are you digging my grave?!?
_Yuma said as he put a hand on Shin's mouth to which Shin immediately removed.
Shin: You aren't my brother you vile--
Ruki: Shin!! Behave yourself!!
Shin: Yes, Nii-san .
_Ruki looked at yui and said.
Reiji: Yeah! that's true! We don't look alike. So what?! Does that change the fact that we are brothers? No it doesn't!
Yui: So basically you all have no parents?
Laito: Parents?!
Yui: Yeah... I mean you all must have different parents to have such different features.
Kou: Okay! Now it's crepping me out!
Yui: That's what I am trying to say that this place, you all something is not right!!
Kino: Princess don't stress too much. It's not that much of a big deal you know to have no parents.
Yui: But still that doesn't change the fact that they might have existed that's why you all exist!!
_Yui immediately blushed after saying this statement.
Laito: Well Eve-chan you are right! Nfu~we all already know how babies are made.
Shu: Lewd women you said it on purpose.
Yui: No I didn't I just want you all---
Ayato: Hah!! Stop!! Ore-sama is parched.
_He said as he came closer to yui.
Ayato: Why don't you take responsibility.
Laito: Aha! Now that you mentioned it she really is giving off a really sweet smell.
Subaru: Guys aren't we supposed to hide it-
Kanato: Teddy wonders if it's like a candy.
Yuma: Sow really does smell delecious. Hey! how about giving me a taste.
Laito: Nfu~Eve-chan you made me run all around to find you.
_He said as he got near her ear.
Kou: M-Neko-chan really is cruel! She really is selfish she made me do a lot of work how about you return favour as this is give and take world!
Subaru: Oii!! Stop saying that scary stuff to her and you both keep your hands off her!!!
Yui: Wai-it you.. all are again saying weird stuff?! Delecious and parched what do you mean by them?!
_Shu looked at Yui and smirked and gave her a show off his fangs.
Yui: Wha-
Shu: You now realize. Do you?!
Ruki: We aren't some bunch of humans. We are vampire.
Yui: Vam-mpire! You mean you all suck blood.
Kino: Hey!! I am offended we don't just do that! You humans have ruined our name.
Shin: What are you scared? I mean cmon don't tell me you don't realized it?!
Reiji: Having this level of strength isn't possible for a human man right? You should have realized it earlier that we aren't human.
Shu: I hope this answers your question about how I always get where ever you are.
Ruki: I guess you now know everything your purpose of being here and lastly our identity.
Carla: Hah! That's funny we didn't even try to mask our identity. You really are a dense women.
Yui: No-o that's impossible. I don't believe you!!
_Yui backed away from them.
_All of their eyes started glowing showing their animalistic nature.
Ayato: Say are you gonna choose who to come with or we decide it.
Yui: Wh-hat?
Kino: I mean you aren't gonna stay here right a forest is really a bad option for a fragile girl like you.
Subaru: Tch! It's not like a house full of male vampires is the best option.
Ruki: That's true but you are forced to choose between us we aren't requesting at first place that's an order. So hurry up and choose.
Carla: Eve choose which house are you going to live with. Choose wisely and carefully as it will decide the future supreme overload.
Reiji: So what's your decision Eve.
_Yui looked at all of them their attention fully focused on her.
"I will choose_______"

Hii!! Can you do karma with a s/o that's rly quiet but ends up being good with kids??
Karma x Reader whose Good with kids // fluff GN! Reader
Tumblr media
This all begins when E class gets themselves into deep trouble. Attempting to train on rooftops while studying for midterms, what they thought was a genius idea doesn't go as planned. Okajima and Kimura jump down and fall on top of an elderly man riding his bike. The old man is hospitalized for a broken foot. He ends up being the caretaker of multiple kids at a daycare he runs, Karasuma goes to talk to the man on behalf of his students-apologizing with flowers and all.
Korosensei orders the entire class to volunteer at the daycare and take the elderly man's place while he rests his leg to teach everyone about helping those who are weaker and those they’ve wronged.
Okay yeah, Korosensei was pissed- Karasuma just spent 20 minutes bargaining and apologizing to the rightfully angered old man and the class was filled with regret, shame and dread for the hard work that was coming. You on the other hand were secretly hyped! You loved taking care of kids, their cute little faces never failed to give you baby fever.
Even though you and Karma werent personally involved in the training scheme you still had to participate as it was a class effort.
The days of volunteering roll around and each day progress is made.
Everyone has a job to do, Some of your classmates are helping the kids study others are in charge of nap time and many are cleaning the space and fixing the building up.
You look over to a group of kids entranced with a theater show Karma, Terasaka and Okuda are putting on for them.
You catch yourself staring at Karma for too long, and bring your focus back towards your job;
You’re in charge of looking after the kids when they’re doing activities, (everything is in rotations for smaller groups)
Your current group is painting and drawing to their hearts content.
You notice one of the kids, Jiro, seems really upset, His eyes are getting watery. You crouch down to his level and ask him what’s wrong.
“My drawing— looks bad, I can’t draw good!” He speaks through the hiccups that slice his sentences up, now the tears are flowing down his cheeks completely.
“Don’t say that… You’re so talented Jiro, I want one of your drawings for myself!”
You ruffle his hair and he starts laughing through his tears, “You’re not lying?”
“Of course not, you’re drawings are my favorite thing ever!”
“Really?! I can draw one for you to take home!”
“The great artist Jiro will make me a drawing? Thank you Jiro you’re the best!”
Jiro rushes back to his seat with a smile on his face ready to start a new drawing as a present for you.
Michi raises her hand, "[Name] look!! I drew you!"
"Awe! I love it thank you Michi, you’re so sweet!"
She nods as she points to the second stick figure on her paper, "Look! I drew Karma because he's your best friend right?"
"Yeah he is-" You're cut off, startled by someone’s voice you turn to look and there he is.
"I'm just your best friend?" He feigns disappointment, you laugh and shove his shoulder gently.
You point at her drawing and back at him as a show of comparison "That looks just like him- you're so attentive to detail Michi!"
"I don't know what that means but thanks!" She skips back to her seat overjoyed with the praise.
Karma turns back to face you,
"Who knew you were this good with kids, it hasn't even been a full week and you're already their favorite- after me, they love me more."
You smile "You wish! Honestly I'm not surprised you're good with them, you have a fun personality, but anyway how'd the play go?"
"It went great, they're Kayanos problem now. I’ve been wanting to come over to you- just couldn’t.”
“I know, I can’t believe we’re on opposite sides of the room!”
“Can’t believe you’re still alive, clingy.”
“Shut up I caught you glancing at me every few minutes. You should focus more on your performance.”
“Hey my point still stands, if you caught me it means you were looking too!”
“I wanted to see how the story played out.”
“Righttt, rate my acting on a scale from 1 to Karma.”
“I’d give you a 9, just cause the outfit was cute.”
“Not bad, where’d the last point go?”
“You’re acting sucked-” you pressed your lip in an attempt to hide the smile threatening to come out.
He scoffed putting his arm around you, “You should do it with me! Tomorrow were doing sleeping beauty, all you have to do is sleep while I smack Terasaka with a plastic sword.”
“Sounds like fun, but I wanna see Terasaka getting hit— can’t do that with my eyes closed.”
“If you do it I’ll ask someone to film it so you can watch later, and more importantly I get to wake you up with a forehead kiss.”
“Alright then, the video convinced me.”
“You sure it wasn’t the kiss?”
“Maybe a little.”
A child’s shout brings your attention back onto your job “[NAMEE]! Michi spilled paint on me!”
Michi stands up “IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!”
Restful moments with Karma couldn’t last forever but even the noisy ones you appreciated wholeheartedly, now you’d clean up the colorful mess together.
note: sorry for any errors in the writing pls correct me if you catch any <3! sorry this is late still have many rq to go through!

part eleven | masterlist | part thirteen
This is not how you pictured starting October, grieving the loss of the matriarch of the family you once called your own, while on the precipice of something new. Straddling the intersection of the old guard and the new feels more complicated than you imagined, because how does one manage to feel so full, so loved, yet consumed by so much despair all at once?
Not to mention the merging of your two worlds: your old life in London and your new one in Copenhagen.
Your new one in Copenhagen with Luca.
The ceremony, mostly just for ritualistic purposes, considering Aiko was cremated – something only the Kimura siblings had been a part of, was held in the backyard of the Kimura. childhood home. You watch as your worlds collide, like two cars crashing into one another – something that seems inevitable, yet still manages to be equally strange, jarring, and confusing. Luca reaches across to shake Astrid’s hand, initiating the action of the merging of your two words.
“I’m Luca. It’s nice to meet you. I’m so sorry for your loss,” he says, his voice compassionate and kind.
“Thank you,” Astrid replies, a small smile on her face as she looks Luca in the eyes. “I wish we were meeting under better circumstances but. Thank you for coming.” “‘Course.”
“It’s so good to see you,” you exhale, a sigh of relief leaving your lips as your best friend wraps you up in her arms.
You and Luca had shown up just before the ceremony started, and hadn’t even had a chance to say hello yet. Truthfully, you weren’t sure if it’d be right, if it’d be appropriate to show any earlier, wanting to give Joe, Astrid, and Lina the time they’d need beforehand.
“I’m so glad you were able to make it,” she says, squeezing you tighter than normal.
“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t have missed this for the world,” you assure her, as you pull back from your embrace. “It was a beautiful ceremony.”
“Thanks,” Astrid nods. “Think she would’ve rather liked it.”
You take a good look at your former sister-in-law. She looks tired, sad – the kind of tired and sad you get from running the entire show, from project managing your own mother’s posthumous arrangements.
“Thank you for coming,” Astrid repeats, her compliment genuine, before zeroing in on Luca. “The both of you.” Somehow, in the midst of her mother’s funeral, Astrid still has the energy to send you a look – that look – the kind of look that says ‘we WILL be talking about this hottie later.’
“Love?” Luca asks you, as you turn your head to look at him.
“Yeah?” you ask back.
“I’m going to head back inside,” he begins, placing a gentle touch against your low back. “Let you say hello to your friends. But please. Take your time.”
As you open your mouth to say something, it’s as if the timing couldn’t be better (or worse, but you’ll figure out how you feel about it later), as you spot both Joe and Lina approaching. They exchange a few words quietly between each other, walking over to you, Luca, and Astrid.
Joe walks with a sureness that comes from a lifetime spent being the golden son in a family full of daughters, while Lina keeps close to his side, protectively.
“Hey, thanks for coming, mate,” Joe says, immediately extending a hand in Luca’s direction. His voice is warm, friendly, yet distant, as if he’s putting on his bravest face to get through this afternoon.
“I’m Luca. Hi,” Luca introduces himself, meeting Joe’s assuredness with his own.
“Joe. Joe Kimura,” Joe replies, shaking the blonde’s hand.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” Luca says, courteously, your hand brushing against his at your sides. Joe only nods, his lips pressed together in a polite, yet tight smile, before shifting his attention over to you.
“Joe,” you address him, a small smile on your lips as you greet your ex-husband. “It’s-, it’s good to see you.”
It’s strange really, standing next to your new boyfriend, one that brings you comfort, that makes you feel safe and loved, in a moment of sheer vulnerability and heartbreak across from your ex-husband.
“Hey. Thanks for coming. She would’ve been so happy to see you here,” he says, something softer in his voice as he refers to his late mother. Joe pulls you into a friendly, yet strained hug before releasing you.
“Yeah, of course,” you reply, pulling away. “I really wanted to be here.”
He nods, watching as you take a few steps backwards, so that you’re standing side by side with Luca once more. Lina lets out a disappointed sigh before greeting you, her greeting much more tense with Luca as he introduces himself to the last member of the Kimura family he’s yet to meet. The exchange is thick with awkward tension, but there’s no animus in it, from anyone, really. You don’t talk for long – just a few exchanges back and forth as everyone meets everyone – till Luca reminds you that he’s got to go on his way to meet up with his mum.
“I’ll walk you out,” you offer, before excusing yourself from your conversation with the Kimura siblings.
You know this home well, pushing through the crowd of people gathered in the family home, and out the front door. You’re not surprised that so many people have shown up to celebrate the life of Aiko Kimura, the legacy she leaves behind, apparent.
“No need to rush, love. Feel free to stick around for as long as you need,” Luca says, with patience and grace in the words he says.
You nod, giving him a half smile as you reply, “Yeah, I will. Have fun with your mom too.”
There’s a pause between the two of you, both of you unsure of how to fill it. There are so many things you want to say, with no idea of where to start, or how to say them.
“This is weird, right?” you ask, chuckling as a means to break some of the tension.
He nods, cracking a half smile of his own, “Yeah, there are other ways I’d imagined meeting your ex-husband.”
You shake your head incredulously, as you sigh. The reality of the situation would be humorous if it were under any other circumstances, really.
“How ya holdin’ up’?” Luca asks you, checking in before he goes.
“I’ll uh… let you know when I know,” you answer, honestly.
He mutters something under his breath, something about understanding, as he pulls you in close, pressing a kiss to the top of your head, hugging you close.
“Thank you for coming. Thank you for being here with me,” you whisper, against his chest.
“No need to thank me, my love. I’m here for you,” he reassures you, something genuine in his voice that instills a confidence in his words.
-------------------------------
“You could stay, y’know?” you hear the voice of the youngest Kimura sibling say, causing you to turn away from the photo board that hangs in the Kimura family living room.
“What do you mean?” you ask her.
“Come home,” Lina says this time, much more insistent, much more desperate. “You and Joe-.”
“Lina,” you warn her, as your face falls, because you’re not sure you can let her finish that sentence.
You feel for her, really, and you can only imagine that it’s easier for her to focus on resenting your new boyfriend than it is to feel the pain of this loss.
Lina sighs, shaking her head, her jaw clenched, “So it’s serious then? You and… the pastry chef?”
You wait a beat before answering,
“Yeah. It is.”
She shakes her head again, this time with an eye roll as she purses her lips disapprovingly. It’s as if she’s turning a decision over in her head, opening her mouth to say something, before closing it, going back to the drawing board.
“But he’s an Arsenal fan,” she finally scoffs, with a snort, trying her best to add a little humor to what feels like an impossible situation by nitpicking at his favorite football team.
You laugh, adding your own playful eye roll to the mix this time.
“I never said he had great taste in football teams,” you chuckle back, earning a groan from your former sister-in-law.
The two of you share a look, one that says, ‘I love you, you dummy,’ and you can see that she wants to say something else. You don’t know what it’ll be about this time, so you wait patiently, giving the youngest Kimura the space to get out whatever it is that’s eating her.
“I just-. I never understood… why you and Joe… why you couldn’t work it out,” she drags out, a disappointment in her voice as she finds the words she wants to say.
So she doesn’t want to talk about her mom.
You sigh, accepting that fact, while racking your brain for how to explain the question that consumed you for a year after.
“Because, Lina…” you trail off, choosing your words intentionally. “It just wasn’t-, because I don’t know if we were supposed to. I-.” You pause once more before continuing with, “Because we just… grew apart. Wanted different things. And we both deserve to go find them, even if it means it’s not with each other.”
You watch as she takes in your answer, only just beginning to process your explanation, as a man you recognize as Uncle Kevin approaches.
“Sorry to interrupt, ladies. Lina, will you come help me with something in the kitchen?” he asks.
“Sure. Yeah,” she nods her head, beginning to turn away from you.
But Lina pauses; she’s not ready to go just yet.
“It really is good…” she says with a sure nod of her head. “... to see you. I’m glad you came.”
Lina turns once more, following her uncle into the kitchen, without a look back. You take a deep breath, because it all just feels heavy. You’ve always been close with Astrid, but your relationship with Lina was different. She was much younger when you met Joe. While you and Astrid became close friends, much closer in age, you’d always suspected that Lina had put you and your relationship with her brother on a pedestal, the reality of your assumption becoming glaringly obvious now.
You can only imagine the divorce was something hard for her to stomach, to understand, especially with her limited life experience. You remind yourself not to take it too personally as you slip outside, making your way back into the backyard where the memorial service was held earlier that day.
There’s another photo board outside, propped up against an easel, with an entirely different collection of photos than the one inside. You smile to yourself as your eyes savor the familial images: younger versions of the Kimura children with their mother at the beach, baby Lina with a mess of noodles all over her high chair, covered in sauce, a photo of Joe’s graduation…. You reach out to touch one of the photos – a photo of you, Aiko, and Joe together, the day of your wedding.
You can feel the lump in your throat growing, your eyes welling with tears as you’re suddenly overcome with a deep feeling of sadness. A few tears run down your face, and you sniffle, wiping them away quickly, as soon as you hear the sound of footsteps behind you.
“I told Lina to be nice,” Astrid grumbles, as she approaches you and the photo board.
With a quick raise of your eyebrows, you turn to Astrid before telling her: “Lina thinks I should stay.”
“Lina is barely twenty five and I don’t quite think her brain has fully formed yet,” Astrid quips dryly, and you know she’s not entirely wrong.
“I can only imagine this is… all pretty confusing for her,” you say, suddenly feeling a little guilty for being here in the first place.
“She’s young. She’ll get over it,” Astrid shrugs, brushing off your concern.
To a stranger, her response would seem cold, callous, unemotional, but you know that Astrid has had to play the role of the eldest daughter her entire life.
She’s had to be strong for everyone her entire life.
“She always was a hopeless romantic,” you observe, turning your attention back to the family photos. “Lina.”
Astrid nods slowly, “I think she looked up to you and Joe. Looked to the two of you and saw what love could look like.”
“Just because it ended doesn’t mean we don’t still love each other,” you offer. “It’s just… different now. We’re not… in love, but we both still care for each other. Shouldn’t that be worth something too?”
“I think she’ll understand when she’s older,” Astrid replies in an attempt to offer you some kind of comfort.
“How’re you doing?” you ask her, the words feeling silly as soon as they leave your mouth.
“I’m… just going to be happy when this is all over,” Astrid admits, the fatigue in her voice more evident than ever. “Dunno if I’ve even had time to be sad. Been too busy doing… all of this. Think maybe I’ll crash the minute it’s over which… is bloody scary and also… guess, it’s something I’ve been waiting for too.”
You nod in concurrence, “Well, if you do, you know you have me. Right now I’m a phone call, a hop, skip, and a week away. You know, till we go home.”
She nods, stealing a glance your way, a small smirk on her lips in response to your usage of the word, ‘we.’
“And then of course,” you continue, slyly, hoping to plant the idea in her head now. “You can always eat, pray, love in Copenhagen… you know… if the mood strikes you. I feel like that would be, you know, healing.”
She snorts with laughter, “Yeah, I’ve got to get out there again anyways.”
There’s a short pause between the two of you, and Astrid’s still stuck on what you said earlier.
The ‘we’ of it all, really.
“So Luca’s really something. Showin’ up to your new girlfriend’s ex-husband’s mum’s funeral? That takes guts,” she says, prodding you for more information on Luca.
“Yeah.”
“Didn’t think the bloke could be even more handsome in person and yet….”
You chuckle in response.
“Yeah he’s… he’s pretty perfect,” you exhale, sitting into the feeling.
“It’s exhausting sometimes… trying to keep up,” you joke. “Only, then he tells me that I don’t have to be perfect and I can just be myself which… is even more annoying because it’s more proof that he is.”
“Well, I like him,” Astrid adds smugly, crossing her arms across her chest.
“Yeah?” you ask, a stark contrast between her and Lina’s reactions.
“Yeah,” she nods, enthusiastically. Her face softens as she says what comes next. “You look well-loved. That’s why I like him.”
“What do you mean?” you ask, hesitantly.
“You look like you’ve found your heart again,” Astrid answers.
And as you search her face for a reaction, for truth to her statement, you can see it in her eyes that she means it.
-------------------------------
After spending a little more time with Astrid in the backyard, you decide it may be time to find Joe. You’re not sure what you’re expecting, but you think that you should prepare for almost anything. It doesn’t take long to find him inside, so you wait for the right moment, watching him accept condolences from a couple you recognize as neighbors, as they’re on their way. Your heart pounds in your chest, your nerves skyrocketing because it’s all just so… weird… as you approach.
“Joe,” you call out to him, your voice grabbing his attention.
He turns to you, a small smile on his face as he sees that it’s really you standing behind him.
“Is now a good time to say hello?” you ask, trying your best to be respectful.
“Yeah, ‘course. I-,” he begins, before pausing, looking around the room. “You want to get out of here?”
“Wh-?” you start.
“Fancy a pint? I just don’t know if I can do this whole perfect son act for much longer,” he scoffs, a playful and mischievous tone in his voice.
“Uh… yeah,” you agree, unable to hide the surprise in your voice. “Yeah, fuck. I could use a drink.”
You shouldn’t be surprised, really, as you follow Joe out of the house. Your brain is flooded with memories of sneaking out of the theater to go get french fries, of parties to head to another party, out of his childhood home when you were staying with Aiko during your first holiday with the Kimuras.
There’s a pub down the street that you walk to, feeling naughty for leaving without saying goodbye, and relieved that you’re getting to escape from the bleak, depressing awkwardness that is any funeral. You remember this pub – one you and Joe used to frequent because it was only a few blocks away – when you’d moved to London. It’s a short walk and the two of you can’t get there fast enough, eager to flee the scene of grieving relatives and humorously sad music.
You and Joe find two seats at the bar, sitting side by side as you clink the glasses of your ice cold pints.
“Cheers,” you say.
“Cheers,” he parrots, the both of you taking your first sips.
“Fucking hell, I had to get out of there,” Joe exhales a huge sigh of relief. “Been at it all day. Makin’ other people feel better about my own mum’s death. I don’t know how anyone does this.”
“Yeah, it’s kinda fucked, huh?” you reply with a sigh.
“Funerals are weird. I’ll tell you that, mate,” he agrees, lifting his glass to his lips once more.
“This is…” you start, nervous yet bold in speaking truth to the moment. “... also weird, don’t you think?”
You watch as he thinks it over, a small smirk on his face as he agrees, “Yeah. Yeah it is.”
A beat.
And then another.
And you’re lifting your glass once more to your lips to take another sip of the amber liquid that brings you comfort in the moment.
“Is it alright? That I came? That we… came?” you ask, a little more seriously now.
Joe turns his head to you, and you can see that your consideration means a lot to him. He nods slowly as he answers:
“Yeah. I meant what I said before – that she would’ve wanted you here.”
He pauses once more, taking another drink from his beer glass.
“As for Luca. Well, it was bound to happen at some point or another.” You nod, your eyes fixed to the resin-sealed wooden bar top as you listen to him. “I think we both knew that this day would come… Can’t say it’s a walk in the park but… dunno if most things are supposed to be anyways.”
“Yeah I uh… I certainly feel like bambi learning how to walk for the first time on the wobbliest of legs,” you offer up, reassuring Joe that you have no idea how to navigate this either.
“Yeah,” he sighs.
“But,” you begin again. “We outgrew each other, yeah. Doesn’t mean I stopped caring about you. About any of you.”
Joe nods slowly, because he knows you’re right. He admires you for how fearlessly you’re charging into this conversation, and wonders if it’s the new boyfriend – Luca – whose helped get you to this point.
He can’t tell whether he wants to thank the bloke or if he’s envious, deciding that it’s probably a little bit of both.
“Doesn’t mean we can’t have a different kind of relationship,” you add, avoiding the cringe factor of using the word friendship, even though it’s what you mean.
Joe waits a beat, because he really would like to be friends, because he really does still care about you too.
“So how’s life treatin’ you otherwise?” he asks, as an olive branch – a yes to letting your relationship transform into something else.
You spend the afternoon catching up, ordering baskets on baskets of chips, and sharing what he’s missed over the past few years: that you have a restaurant now, that you’ve come around to cold brew, even though you swore you’d always hate it, all about the Mikkelson twins and how much he’d probably hate their wild streaks. In return, Joe tells you all about his new teaching job at a uni, that he’s recreationally been playing with the symphony as of late, and that he’s just taken a little break from the dating scene. It feels strange and normal all at once. While Joe feels familiar, like getting to spend time with an old piece of yourself, this rhythm and new kind of relationship that seems to be unfolding before you feels foreign, the dichotomy stretching you to opposite ends of its spectrum. It’s not something you ever saw for yourself – becoming friends with your ex-husband – but in the moment, as the pathway presents itself to you, you’re not sure you mind.
“I miss her. So, so much,” Joe finally admits, as the conversation returns to the matriarch you both love with your whole hearts.
“I know. I do too,” you say, reaching for his hand this time.
He looks at you, a softness in your eyes in response to the gesture, and with a small smile, you pull your hand away.
“I want to make a dish… for her at the restaurant. To honor her. And everything she taught me,” you finally say, almost as if it’s a declaration.
You search Joe’s face for a reaction, his expression beginning to break as his eyes begin to water.
“I think ehm,” he begins, his voice breaking. “I think she’d really, really like that.”
He clears his throat, because he’s not sure he wants to cry right now.
“You better send pictures,” he demands jokingly. “And you’ve got to make it for us, the next time you’re in town.” Joe pauses once more, as if he wants to make it crystal clear what he really means when he adds:
“You and Luca.”
Your heart swells and breaks all at once, in response to Joe’s blessing, because it means so much and so many things.
“Yeah. I-. We will. I promise,” you agree, your voice caught in your throat.
Joe nods once more, a finite kind of motion as he straightens up in his chair.
“C’mon. Think we should head back.”
And as you walk with Joe, it’s as if you both take your time, no longer in a hurry to get back to the Kimura family home as quickly as possible. There’s a weight with each step that contributes to the slower pace, and it’s hard to ignore the deep sadness that’s taken root inside of you. On one hand, it’s been a long, heavy day of grieving the loss of the Kimura matriarch – a woman who taught you how to cook, who loved you as her own, who poured every fiber of her being into building a family that knew they were loved. On the other hand, as you stand across from Joe on the street he grew up on, giving each other one more goodbye hug that lasts longer than the previous, this moment feels monumental.
Somehow, you feel the shift, the changes between you and Joe, even deeper than the day you signed your divorce papers. You’ve moved on and so has he in his own way, and you know that as you turn to go, you’re only just beginning a new chapter with him.
And with Luca, because it feels even more real now, more than ever.
The magnitude of it all hits you, as you straddle this ending and your new beginning.
It all feels very grown-up – very adult – and you can feel the pieces of you that you’ll leave behind as you do ‘said growing up,’ fall by the wayside.
“Goodbye, Joe,” you say, one last time as you try your best not to let your voice shake.
“Take care, darling,” he says back, releasing you.
And when you turn to go, all you can do is cry, grieving these endings, new beginnings, and the parts of you that you must leave behind.

Ooo hii can I please request a Tangerine x fem!reader where she is in her early twenties and she’s the White Death’s more forgotten daughter as she’s not a violent person or a criminal (she’s pretty much treated like the Cinderella of the family by everyone- By her Dad, her sister (The Prince), her brother (The Son), and their Dad’s men). Her sister (The Prince) threatens her into helping with the whole Bullet Train scheme. At some point she has Y/n go up to the Twins with a weapon to “threaten” them… Poor Y/n is terrified and squeezing her eyes shut and shaking (and probably holding the weapon incorrectly), and the Twins are pretty much tilting their heads in confusion at the sight in front of them, and are pretty much like, “You’ve never done this before, have you? You’ve never even held a weapon before, have you?” They gently (and easily) take the weapon from her and ask if she needs help and who’s making her do this, andddd then she breaks down and details her sister’s whole master plan + they find out how awful Y/n has been treated by her whole family and they get her out of that situation and take her in and becoming the family Y/n always wanted🥺🥺 Tan honestly having to be held back when he hears Y/n’s sister berate her. Tangerine and Y/n falling in love?
Readers adopted so everyone can read, I made this super long so buckle up, Suggestive

You were just at your job, normally waiting the tables. It was late and you guys were about to close.
“Hello! I’m y/n, I’ll be your server today, what drinks can I get you to start off with?” You looked at the person, thinking they looked oddly familiar.
“Sister.” the woman said.
You furrowed your eyebrows, eyes widening at the realization.
You said her name, it sounded more like a question. She nodded. You stumbled back a bit, before she grabbed your wrists, making you drop the pen and paper in your hand.
“I’m here because I have an offer- well not really an offer. You are going to go with me on a mission. To kill our so beloved father. If you don’t, I’ll just kill dad, and then I’ll kill you, and then for fun I’ll kill your dog.”
You were shaking at this point, you tried to talk and your boss came up.
“Everything all right here?”
You were gonna speak when she did before you. “Everything’s fine.”
“Right.. take off for the night, okay?” He looked at you, and you were dragged out the doors.
———————————————————————
The three of you were soon in a bathroom, and Kimura held a gun to her head.
Your eyes widened again, stepping away from them both, stumbling against the wall.
“Picture it.”
“Picture what?”
“Well, the man. Watching your son. I wonder how he’ll do it. Maybe a pillow to the face. Maybe something clever, like an air bubble in the IV.”
You went to go outside the door, when she caught you in the mirror.
“And imagine your poor dog. Whining and barking all because her owner couldn’t help her sister.” She looked at you. And you gulped and stepped back inside. You loved your dog.
Kimura took the gun away from her head and held it, going to give it to her.
“Give it to her. The innocent young girl act doesn’t really get you very far. If you’re holding a loaded gun.”
His phone ringed, and he talked to his father.
She took his phone, and she took the gun, then handed it to you. You looked at it, breath shaky along with your hands.
“You’re going to sit here and you’re going to go through every combination until you open up that case.”
“Kid, that could take f-“
“No, no, it won’t. I’d start with the low numbers. Just a thought, c’mon, you’re coming with me.” She dragged you along out the bathroom.
———————————————————————
You passed your brother then, you gasped and took a step back, running into a table and falling to the ground.
Your sister just looked at him and took off his glasses, spitting in his face.
She looked down at you, kicked you, and you stood back up.
Of course you were the black sheep of the family, and they all treated you bad, but still. He was your brother.
—————————————————————-
You and your sister walked back to where he was, and he had opened the case.
“Look at that. I knew my luck would rub off on you. Fuck.”
“What the fuck are you doing?” Kimura asked.
“I am doing the same thing that I did to the gun in her hand.”
You looked down at the gun.
“If the gun doesn’t kill him, the case will.”
“This thing could’ve killed me at any point-“ you said.
“No, no, it’s inert until you fire it. But I do want you to fire this one.” She handed you one that was in her bag, a normal one.
You looked at it, in disbelief as you put the other one down.
“I’ve never..”
“Well your gonna. Kill the twins and the old guy… what’s his name? I don’t care..” she waved you off, you stared at her again.
“Are you se- wha-“ she pushed you out the door, you fell onto the ground.
“And I have a camera on it, so if you don’t do it, I’ll find you and kill you myself.” She said, and then the door closed.
You mumbled something under your breath, and shakily picked yourself back up.
————————————————————-
That’s how you were now holding a gun to Lemon. He held his own to your face, as you screwed your eyes shut. He looked confused.
“You know your holding the gun wrong, right?” He said, you opened your eyes and he noticed your anxiousness.
He grabbed his phone out and texted tangerine to come.
Soon enough tangerine was rushing there, and held a gun to you quickly. You winced as both guns were now pointed at your temple. They backed you into a corner, you didn’t have anything to do.
“Start talking, we don’t got all day.” The one with the mustache said.
Your eyes started to water and you broke down. He slowly took the gun away, and you were now putting your face in your knees, both men looked confused now.
Lemon put his gun down, and stared at you.
“M-my sister made me do this- I don’t even know what I’m doing! I don’t even know how to shoot or hold a gun!” You told them. “She’s trying to kill our dad. The white death.”
“Your dad is the white death? Your the guys sister?” Tangerine asked.
“Adopted. But yeah.” Your lip quivered and you looked up at them, nodding.
“Fucked up family.” Lemon snickered, Tangerine nudging his arm.
“Sh-She’s using me as bait, to kill you and the glasses guy, but I don’t know how to kill anyone and-“
“Calm down, yeah? Your safe.. just, explain where she is, can you do that?” Lemon asked, crouching down next to you as Tangerine looked around and ran a hand through his hair.
Your eyes widened when you remembered the gun had a camera.
“We have to go, like soon.” You mumbled to them quietly, and you quickly scrambled away, running.
They just followed you, you weren’t much of a threat they thought. You were literally shaking just holding a gun.
——————————————————————
That’s how you were now underneath a table, as the twins sat.
“She’s fucking insane, if she sees me-“
“Relax. We jus’ gotta find glasses and tell him.” Tangerine said, mostly talking to lemon.
“Yeah, before he shoots our heads off.” He snorted. You looked over at your brother mostly, and then just hid your head in your knees.
“Hey! You Haven’t happened to see my sister have you?”
“What’s she look like?”
“She has e/c eyes, and h/c hair. She’s insane, a literal psychopath. Her therapist wanted me to take her but I can’t find her.” She shrugged.
“Nah, sorry.”tangerine quickly said.
She glanced under the table, clearly seeing you.
“Mm.. just tell her if you do see her that I’m looking for her.. I’ll be waiting.”
“Mhm.” Tangerine nodded, and motioned for her to keep moving.
“She knows. Damnit.” You mumbled, and went up from underneath the table and next to Tangerine.
“So now what do we do?”
“Like I said, jus’ wait for glasses.”
———————————————————————-
You all waited for a while, then he moved on the seat across, holding a gun to Lemon.
“I thought I knocked you out. But anyways who are you?” He looked to you, pointing the gun to you now as both men quickly pulled their out and pointed it to him.
“Her sisters the target, mate. Put the gun down.” Lemon said, and he slowly did.
“And we don’t need you, so one fucking move I’ll blow your brains out.” Tangerine said.
“Mmm.. so then why am I here?”
“Jus’ fucking listen.”
As you explained your family, and how they had always treated you, Tangerine and Lemon looked as each other for a moment then looking back, then you started to explain how your sister wanted to kill your dad to become the new white death.
“So she wants me to be bait. She doesn’t want any distractions so that’s why she sent me-“
“Why didn’t she send Kimura instead of you? I mean, if you don’t even know how to hold a gun wouldn’t it make more sense?”Ladybug asked.
“Probably because she’s always wanted me fucking dead.” You mumbled.
“Ohhhh.. got it. Yeah that makes sense.” He nodded.
“Alright, jus’ calm down. We’ll stop her from.. doin’ whatever to you, yeah?” Tangerine said. Lemon quirked an eyebrow, Tangerine wasn’t exactly known for being a sweet guy.
You nodded, and you just looked as they came up with a plan.
“She’s not gonna fall for it.” You mumbled. They all turned to you now.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that she still has Kimura. She brought him here for him to fail. For her plan to work. She’s not gonna die before he does. She’s a selfish little prick-“
“Fuck, I knew I should’ve gotten off this train.” Ladybug mumbled, groaning in annoyance.
“And the hornets still alive.” You said.
“Who?” Lemon and tangerine asked.
“Actually….” Ladybug scratched the back of his neck.
“You killed her? Fuck. That’s crazy, my sister always went on about how she was annoying. She found out the wolf was here for the hornet.”
Tangerine sighed. “Can we please get back on fucking track?”
Tangerine got a call. He looked at you and picked it up.
“You have been lying to me, my friend.”
“Well, cats out the bag now, innit?”
“You were responsible for keeping my son safe, for keeping my money safe.”
“I don’t know a thing or two about being a parent, but you know what I would do, being that it’s your son and your money? I’d stop crying about your dead wife, get off your lazy fucking ass, come here and finish the job yourself. And while your at it, maybe apologize to your daughter or something, I dunno, just a thought.” He paused.
“But as we’re having a bit of a heart to heart, got a couple things to tell ya. Your sons a complete bellend, and as for your case I haven’t seen it since Toyko and I hope someone’s fuckin’ found it, put it all on red and having a fuckin’ wonderful time.”
“I will meet you at Kyoto Station.“
“Oh, how wonderful. I can’t fucking wait.”
“I want to look into your eyes when I kill you and your brother, along with my daughter.”
“Good fuckin’ luck, morning rush hours rolling in quite nicely. Uh, what’s your plan, mate? You gonna fuckin’ waltz in here and blow my brains out in front of the whole fuckin’ carriage of witnesses?”
“There is no one left on that train. I know. I bought every ticket until the end of the line.”
The elder walked into the train, and Ladybug stood up.
“Yeah I’m getting off this train. Sorry bout your family and deaths but I gotta go to a temple or some shit… reevaluate everything I’ve ever done.”
Tangerine and lemon then held a gun to his head, motioning for him to sit back down.
He sighed and put his hands up, sitting back down.
“Looks like I’m staying.”
———————————————————————-
So they made up another plan, with you involved this time.
The elder sat across from the princes.
“You are the one who pushed my grandson off the department store roof, why?”
“Your son. He’s going to help me kill the white death at Kyoto station. And that was the only way to get him on this train.”
“The white death.”
“That’s right. But he couldn’t even do that. So he’s dead, just a few cars back. They are both dead.”
“My grandson was pushed off a roof. What makes you think I would leave him unprotected?” He got a text message.
“My grandson is safe. And my son is not dead-“
“Listen, old man-“ she stood up.
“The only thing you know about an old man, young lady, is that he has survived much more, and much worse than you.”
She took her bag and quickly ran away.
—————-
A snake came slithering up towards Ladybug, your eyes widened and Lemon and Tangerine stared at it.
“What? There something on my face-“ he was interrupted when it latched onto his arm, biting him.
“Ow! Motherfu-“ he ran to the nearest bathroom, and shoved it into a toilet. He sighed and sat down for a moment.
Then the elder sat down, right across from Ladybug.
“Who the hell are you?” Tangerine asked, remembering how the white death bought every ticket, keeping his guard up.
“I am Kimura’s father.”
“Do you know where he is…?” You asked.
“I do.”
So then he took you, only you for some reason. He didn’t quite look how everyone else held a gun to him first thing.
They talked, his son was still alive. Barely.
You all went back and you helped his son clean up a bit. Lemon and Tangerine talked for a while.
“I don’t need help.” He mumbled.
“It’s the least I can do to apologize for my shitty sister.” You gave him a meek smile, and Tangerine and Lemon came over to you two. You gave them a smile and then went back to helping Kimura.
Then you went to hang out with Lemon and Tangerine only, Kimura wanted space.
“Thank you.” You blurted out.
“For what?”
“Everything. You both saved me. If I’m gonna die, I don’t wanna die because of her.”
Lemon smiled and nodded.
“It’s nothin’. The only problem now is killing them both, yeah?” Tangerine said.
“Yeah.” You smiled again.
———————————————————————-
That’s how you lemon, and tangerine started out. You started to call and text them in Japan, then deciding to move, but not knowing where, they decided hey why not that house down the street?. It was a nice house, so you said why not.
That’s how you now lived in London, you and Lemon were great friends. You and Tangerine were more complicated.
“So… this can’t happen again.” He would always say, laying down next to you. Even though he’d love for it to happen again.
“Agreed.” You mumbled.
It happened again, a lot more times.
“We can’t keep doin’ this to Lemon.” He would say. Lemon if anything, wanted it to happen.
“You two would make the best couple.” He said one day when they were eating dinner, Tangerine choked on his food and stared at him.
“What? Don’t think I haven’t heard you two. Oh yes, right there!” He mocked you, making him laugh loudly and Tangerine throwing a piece of bread at him.
“Go fuck yourself.” He stood up, grumbling and going to his room.
Lemon continued to laugh, and then you walked in.
“Heyyyyy… don’t mean to bother you. Where’s Tan?” You asked.
“Hey, we were just talkin’ bout’ you.” He snickered, you furrowed your eyebrows.
“He’s in his room. I’m guessing you’re gonna…” he snickered again, you didn’t understand at first.
“Lemon!” You groaned, and he laughed loudly again. Your cheeks heated up and you just went into Tangerines room.
“Oh man. Too good. Too funny.” He laughed.
In reality you came to borrow a book, but ended up staying the night. Lemon came in to give him something, and then he saw you both cuddled up, Tangerines arms wrapped around you.
He took out his phone, taking a picture.
“I’m never gonna let them forgot this.” He smirked to himself, closing the door quietly again.

CHERRY BLOSSOMS haitani rindou
sfw, nothing happens

Tumblr media
part ii / i just want you to take me where your heart is.
Rindou is having trouble falling asleep.
He's got a 10 o'clock with the higher ups first thing in the morning. Rindou vividly remembers asking his direct supervisor, Kimura-san on what the meeting is about as soon as he was notified about it.
He’s thought it through -- there is no reason for them to want to see him personally (he’s sure he’s never given them one), nor does he remember doing anything that might have seem out of line, or perhaps appeared a little too out of place in the company. A meeting of only him with the higher ups? It's scary even for someone like Haitani Rindou to face.
"That's exactly it, Haitani. You've been a bit too out of place lately."
Fuck-
"And by that, I mean, you've been showing off brilliant work."
" . . . Excuse me?"
Kimura-san chuckles and brings a wrinkled hand up to pat his junior's back as they walk side by side together through the long corridor that leads to the break room. Rindou fixes his tie out of habit and holds a sealed envelope tight in his hand -- the paper almost crumpled -- as he brings himself together to listen to his senior's words.
"You've been doing great, Haitani. Awesome performance, extremely satisfying work and you're very punctual. Believe me, I'm glad I chose the right person to nominate for this promotion. I've been watching you ever since you started working here as a clerk, and I have to say, I'm proud of you, boy. You've been working hard every day for . . . How long has it been? Five months? Your dedication is worth congratulating. Keep it up, young man. And don't worry about the meeting, it's all part of the promotion process. You'll be fine."
Though Kimura-san's attempt at comforting him worked that day, it certainly failed miserably today. It's less than 7 hours to when he'll soon be standing in front of a conference room facing the Chief Executive and his subordinates, and he doesn’t know why.
What if it goes bad and it's not the kind of meeting that Kimura-san said it would be? What if they're there to tell me I'm rejected for the promotion? Or even worse, fired and-
Rindou suddenly hears a certain conversation of Ran and himself echoing in his head. The loud yet timid 16 year old Rindou and the childish and arrogant 17 year old Ran, that is.
"Keep up that long face and I'll smack you right square, bro. I've taught you better than this. Stop doubting everything and believe it'll go well instead. Determination pays off, you know."
"Idiot. You think everyone in the world is capable of chasing a girl their first time? Especially someone like me?"
"Why wouldn't they? Why wouldn’t you? Look, I've made sure that she likes you back. Shion even told her about how you'd waited 2 hours for her to get off work jus’ to walk her home the other day. Trust me, shitty brother, she's definitely into you too."
"Shion did what?" "You heard me."
"And about that, of course everyone is capable, because I did it." Ran proudly flashes a hardcopy of him and a girl hugging with a cheeky grin. The older boy never misses a chance at showing off, especially to his younger brother who is absolutely sick of him. Rindou moves closer to get a proper look and immediately recognises her as the girl in Ran’s class he’s been courting for months. They’re high school sweethearts now? Unbelievable.
He scoffs at the older boy, "you really did it, huh?"
There’s a certain warm and proud feeling swarming in Rindou’s chest as he gapes at the lovesick grin stuck on Ran’s stupid face. It’s what he deserves, Rindou thought. Ran’s been through hell and back trying to court this girl.
Neither young Ran nor young Rindou knows that in 15 years time, Rindou would be calling Ran's high school sweetheart his sister-in-law and stealing recipes and life hacks from.
"Fuck yeah, dude. So like I said, just do it now or you'll miss your chance and regret it for-fuckin'-ever. Also, just for your information, 'cause I'm Haitani Ran and I'm also your big bro and feel the extreme need to tell you," Ran nods his head to the direction behind Rindou. "There's a guy hitting up your missus at the counter."
Rindou has never snapped his head back so fast.
He sees a man who's about a year or two older than him holding a piece of paper and pen to you by the counter, his mouth moving a lot and you’re listening intently.
Rindou immediately regrets not learning how to lip read.
Though he is certain the man must have said something out of line because he sees you adjusting the collar of your uniform and you’re biting your lip nervously. He knows you by your habits and by looking at that, he's sure you’re feeling uncomfortable by the man’s presence. Rindou wants nothing more than to smack the sly smirk off the man’s face right away, so he stands up.
He'll win this fight.
The loud creak of the wooden chair sliding against the marble floor catches your attention and you shake your head at him with a frown.
I’m fine.
Rindou understands that much from your eyes and sits back down again, with Ran who has an arm hooked behind the chair observing he situation with an amused smirk.
The idiot lives for chaos. "Maybe this'll teach him a lesson." Ran murmurs beneath his breath as he observes how Rindou's leg is bouncing anxiously against the marble beneath his shoe, watching you and the man like a hawk.
You have a soft smile plastered on your lips as you bow at him politely, rejecting his advances.
"I'm sorry, sir . . .
But I already have someone."
Lovestruck Rindou witnesses your pretty little face look away from the man to him. You with the pretty glint in your eyes, staring deep into his surprised purple ones and him who is now a blushing mess as he fakes a cough and push his round metal glasses higher onto his nose. You see his reaction and it almost makes you giggle but you remain collected as you try to get the man in front of you to leave the store, telling him you're not interested and you have to get back to work.
And it's when he finally does, all beat and ruined, when Rindou's legs moves over to the counter -- to you -- almost automatically. He stands in front of you and suddenly it’s blank in his mind. His mouth is ajar as he tries to remember what he's came here to say.
(Rindou to this day still argues and swears it was your overwhelming presence and especially your pretty smile that's made him forget his words while he fiddled with the hem of his black turtleneck like a damn loser.)
Come up with something, you idiot. Quick.
"Rindou-kun?" Oh, good fucking gracious. That voice. The sweet voice that will be the absolute end of him.
He musters up everything in him to speak.
" . . . D'ya wanna go out with me? For lunch tomorrow. I’ll pick you up and we’ll go together. Anywhere you want . . . As boyfriend and girlfriend, that is."
You're silent for a minute, and Rindou feels his heart race. It’s hot and humid all of a sudden and he feels like digging a hole and jumping right into it and he doesn't dare look at you and he’s afraid of what's to come. But you call for him again.
"Rindou-kun, please look at me."
The boy wipes his sweaty palms on the dark denim of his Levi’s 501 and chews on his lip. He's so nervous he's certain his mother would be making fun of him when she finds out. Unlike his brother, he’s never been good with girls and has never gone to this extent at courting one. Hell, he’s not even sure if he’s been this nervous before. He’s done loads of illegal things, almost landed his ass in juvie multiple times, fought countless of gangs (both big and small), and none of them could compare to what you’re making him feel right now.
You've got a very, very wide smile ready for him when he finally looks up.
“Ask me again, Rindou."
Get yourself together, prick. Be fair to her.
“Do you wanna be my girlfriend?”
.
.
.
"Okay."
Rindou thought he’d ascended into heaven.
Today, the same young boy who is now 31 in age and an expecting father, grins at the memory. He's glad he took Ran's advice the other day. As stupid as his older brother can be sometimes, Rindou cannot deny that Ran is always helpful when he needs to be. Always there for him. Otherwise, he wouldn't be having your worn out figure sleeping beside him in your shared bed, the beautiful band on your ring finger shining brightly at him as the moonlight shines in through the curtains he’s forgotten to shut before bed.
He stares at you as you sleep peacefully; the steady rise and fall of your chest indicating that you're feeling comfortable again. It's been difficult for you to fall asleep these days, the kicking getting harder and more frequent.
"She's so impatient to come out." You pout sleepily at the father of your child as you place a hand on your bump and rubbing slow circles, trying to get her to calm down in your belly. "Just another month left, my baby."
He eyes your stomach and leans down to press a soft kiss to the skin, suddenly feeling a kick to his lips and he airily chuckles. It’s almost like the baby in your stomach recognises him . . .
Her father.
"Don't kick your mom so much, girl. Be nice to her." Rindou tells his kid in his heart.
Another kick.
Brat.
You start stirring in your sleep. Shit. You're waking up after finally falling asleep and it's all because of the father and daughter that's ganging up on you. Talking together behind your back. Destroying your sleep.
Absolutely foul.
There's a frown on your face as you move around beneath the blanket, trying to get comfortable again when your husband runs his calloused thumb over the crease between your eyebrows, gently coaxing you back to dreamland.
It's then Rindou hears it another time.
"Stop doubting everything and believe it'll go well instead. Determination pays off, you know."
He reminds himself to give Ran a call when he wakes up.
Tumblr media
Rindou has survived the 10 o'clock. It is now 12pm in the afternoon and he's standing in the middle of a fairly new and empty office room with a woman in her early fifties who he recognises as the Operations Manager, Hasegawa Keiko. Everyone calls her Hasegawa-san despite her constant reassurance that simply calling her Keiko is fine.
Rindou directly reports to her now instead of old Kimura. Although being congratulated and trusted deeply by the company, he still feels a bit strange, standing in an office room two floors above his previous one that now has a floor to ceiling view of Tokyo city. He's also been introduced to many new faces that he'll be working with from now on. No more shitty Ito flirting with Ishikawa-san in public and harassing him on going out for drinks or the really irritating habit of the woman clacking her nails on the desk opposite of him, but he supposes he'll adapt sooner or later. He will; Ran told him that he'll be just fine earlier on the phone. He believes in his brother (and you) more than anyone in the world.
"This will be your new office from now on. Feel free to take some time and explore around, make yourself feel comfortable with the environment and so on. And as always, you can ask me if you're unsure about anything. I'll be in my office most of the time down the hall if you have any further questions." The corners of Hasegawa-san's eyes crinkles and Rindou instantly feels more at ease at her warm welcoming. She reminds him a bit of his late mother.
"I'll leave you to it now. Looking forward to working with you, Haitani-san." And with that, she shuts the door behind her, leaving him alone inside.
The silence is overwhelming.
Rindou immediately fishes out his phone in the pocket, dials in the familiar digits he's long memorised and presses the gadget to his ear.
You pick up after the third ring.
"Baby? How'd it go? Are you okay?" He smiles giddily as he pictures the worried expression on your face and you’re probably sitting on the couch watching TV.
(Everything he’d pictured is exactly what you’re doing, by the way. You've also just finished two bowls of plain white rice fresh from the pot without yourself knowing due to how anxious you felt on behalf of him.)
Your husband simply brushes you off. "Whatcha doin'? Are you eating?”
"Answer my question, Haitani!" He laughs at your tone, "take a guess, babe."
"Well, I’on fuckin' know! That's why I'm asking you.”
He thinks of how to put his words into a statement without sounding too overly happy.
"I've got it, you know.”
You have big, red question marks hanging on top of your head as you wait for him to continue on the other line.
"The promotion . . . I've got it."
Tumblr media
Rindou spends his lunch break on the terrace talking to you on the phone. He’s eating the bento you prepared this morning before he left for work. "Finish it, 'kay? The broccoli is expensive." You nagged, knowing how much he despises the said vegetable, but it's included in the new diet he's been keen on trying so he's fine with it. He has you to keep him on track, after all.
He picks up the miserable vegetable with his chopsticks and pushes it into his mouth. Jesus- He closes his eyes as he forces it down the throat.
"Fuck, this is so painful." He coughs when he finally swallows it. You hum from the other line, "what is?"
"The broccoli. Fuckin' hell."
"Sucks to be you. Broccoli's so delicious I don't understand why anyone even hates it. You're weird. Rin."
"Says the person who doesn't eat egg whites."
"Egg whites' got no taste. It should be inedible. It's disgusting."
"And I'm the weird one."
Rindou's been so immersed in talking to you that he doesn't hear the door to the terrace opening and closing. He thought it was just him there, considering everyone else has already went out for lunch and some still remained in their respective offices finishing up paperwork.
He doesn't hear the click of a lighter and cigarette paper burning behind him as he continues to bicker with you on the speaker about why egg whites are delicious and broccolis are not.
"Anyway, I've had 'nuff. I'll be confiscating your watch-Gilmore Girls-with-me rights tonight if you don't finish your broccoli. Your daughter agrees wit' me."
"You know damn well I never miss an episode.”
"Sure, we'll see. I've got clothes to fold now, mostly yours. Bye, weirdo."
"Have I told'cha how noisy you are, mama?" He complains and you laugh and hang up after Rindou reminding you for the third time to take your daily vitamins and wear your grippy socks. That's when the eavesdropper decides to make their presence known.
Rindou nearly chokes on his food when he hears a deep voice speaking behind him. "Your wife?"
He turns around with a mouthful of rice as he takes in the situation. Oh, it's him.
The man who he recognises as Sakoda-san is sitting on a chair with his hands tucked into his pockets, a burning cigarette hanging from his lips.
The same guy who frequents a whorehouse all the way in Kabukichō. Yeah, that one. The one who keeps a polaroid of his children in his wallet on the bedside table while he fucks other women in their rooms, telling them he loves them when he doesn't even mean it.
Saying things for the sake of saying it; Rindou doesn't like that.
He decides to keep his distance as he swiftly finishes the food in his mouth. Of course, he didn't forget his manners.
"Yeah, my wife."
Sakoda-san observes Rindou from the corner of his eyes. How the young man is feeding himself spoon after spoon of the bento, especially the broccoli while he scrolls through his phone, catching up on the latest news and watching random videos that appear on his feed.
"How far along is she?"
Rindou doesn't feel like replying. He's always been a private man who keeps matters to himself, but he thinks it's not fair to the baby in your stomach, his daughter, who he feels her existence should be made known. She's not a secret and shouldn't be kept as one.
"Roughly 8 months. She's due in September."
"A girl?" "Yeah." "What's her name?" "Sakiya." "Sakiya for cherry blossom?" "Yeah." "Your wife picked it?" "We picked it."
Okay, he decides this is as far as he'll go. He starts clipping on the lid of the bento and wiping his mouth with a napkin, ready to leave the terrace (of course he doesn't make it obvious) but Sakoda-san speaks again.
"That's nice. I have a girl too. She's 11 this year. And also a boy who's turning 6." Rindou simply nods and wraps up the bento in the fancy cloth you bought at a bazaar in Harajuku. "Would you like to see a photo of them?"
He stops moving. Rindou thinks of all the options, and the one he feels like picking the most is saying no and leaving.
But he shouldn't be cruel. As much as the man he's talking to is a bad person, a bad father, a bad husband, the children have done nothing wrong. He shouldn't be cruel. It's just an innocent picture of two young children.
"Sure." He agrees out of courtesy and Sakoda-san instantly slips out the polaroid from his wallet and hands it to him. Rindou takes and looks at it carefully. They don't look too happy in it.
"I always keep this with me. Gives me a little push in life, you know?"
A little push? To do all those things to his family?
Rindou is instantly reminded of the many ultrasounds of his daughter attached on the fridge with cute bunny magnets that he glances at every day when grabbing milk from the fridge before leaving for work. He figures that a little push in life contains different meanings to both him and Sakoda-san. It makes him feel sick to the core.
"Nice photo." He hands it back to the man after he finishes looking and stands. Rindou grabs the bento by the handle and is ready to leave, when Sakoda-san stops him once again.
"How good of a drinker are you?"
"I don't drink." Liar. He was fucking Haitani Rindou of Roppongi, for fuck's sake.
"Smoke?"
"I quit."
"Why?"
"Wife's pregnant."
The older man laughs at his blunt responses.
"Your life must be pretty boring, huh?"
Rindou doesn't look back at him when he mutters these words.
"At least I am not you."
Tumblr media
It is now past lunch break and back to working hours that Rindou finds himself standing outside of Hasegawa-san's office. He has been for the past few minutes now, actually. Thinking about what to say and what to do; if she’ll approve of him or get pissed off.
He doesn't have the courage to go in.
Rindou had contemplated on keeping the topic away from his boss for now and simply bring it up another time, but he knows that it's not possible; it's only a short time away to when you're due and it’s also not fair to you either.
Finally, after making up his mind, he musters up all the courage in him to knock on the door. He waits for the faint come in and twists the knob.
"I was wondering when you'd come in."
Shit, it was that obvious?
Hasegawa-san closes the file she was working on and leans back in her chair while gesturing to the one in front of her desk. "Have a seat, Haitani-san." He immediately follows with a creak echoing in the room, not wanting to waste more time than he already has.
"You're nervous." It's not a question, it's a statement. And Rindou knows it as he feels himself growing hot and he coughs and sits up straight. "Sorry."
"What is it you're here for?" Hasegawa-san breaks the silence first. Rindou looks down at the half crumpled envelope in his hand, thinking a little before laying it flat on her table and pushing it forward with the letters on it facing her.
She stares at the envelope before swiftly opening it up to read. Rindou watches intently as her eyes go over the letter word by word, before finally folding the paper back to it's original form and laying it down on her desk.
You don't know about this, Rindou reminds himself as he waits patiently for Hasegawa-san to process his letter. You don't know about this, so he has to be serious. He has to be straightforward and sure. He can't be leaving you alone at this time because he doesn't have the balls to request for something that will mean the world to you.
The woman leans on her elbows and looks at him with an unreadable expression. He can't tell what’s going through her mind right now. Is it good or bad? Oh, she's squinting her eyes now. Do I need to say something? Fuck, this is so confusing.
"So, according to your letter, you will be away for . . . 2 months? That's a pretty long time. And it's your first day in this department."
The atmosphere is intense.
Thinking that he needs to speak up, Rindou pulls himself together and starts explaining to his boss.
"I know it may seem unacceptable, considering that I am just only in charge of this position. I am also aware that there will be no one to take over my duties when I'm away due to a short of hands, but my family is important and-"
"-tell me, Rindou." She cuts him off with a stern look. "How much does your wife matter to you?"
He doesn't hesitate in answering. It's immediate. Quick. Determined. Sure.
"Everything."
The tension in Hasegawa-san’s face loosens and she smiles. "Then there's no reason to further explain yourself. It’s all written clearly in your letter and letting you go to be with her is what a decent human being should do.” She pauses, “I wish my husband did that for me as well. I'm a woman too, so I know how it must feel to want her husband with her at this period of time.”
To say Rindou is shocked is an understatement. A higher up that doesn't ask questions? Doesn't make you wonder if your decision was right or wrong? Doesn't shame you for having different priorities?
No. It's not because she's being soft. It’s not because she’s biased. It's not because she doesn't care.
It's because she understands.
"I wish for her a safe delivery. Is it a boy or a girl?"
"A girl."
"How nice. I have three sons myself, I wish I had a girl too, to accompany me and so on. Boys grow up a lot faster than girls do." She laughs.
Rindou places both his hands on his knees as he lets out a breath of relief. Other than the meeting earlier today, letting his boss know that he will need to take some time off is also what's been clouding his mind for the entire week.
Your due date has clashed with the moment his work became much more serious and now he has to pick between the two: to stay with work and continue to fulfil his new duties and responsibilities while pouring his heart and soul into his shitty company or to stay at home and take care of you when everyone else is busy taking care of the baby.
And the answer is clear, actually. He'll never let anything, especially work, get between him and his family, and he's never let himself be placed in a position where he feels obliged to choose between the two. If he is, then you and the baby will always come first, no matter what, and he'll quit his job if he has to.
Letting Hasegawa-san know about this is just for him to find out if he has to quit his job to stay with you or not.
And luckily, he doesn't have to. Because Hasegawa-san is an angel in disguise and he feels so terribly relieved. God, he misses you so much. He really wants to go home and kiss you right now.
"You can go now. I'll sort things out with HR. You should take the rest of the day off, too. Go celebrate with your wife and spend some time with her. And please don't worry about work, I'll have a substitute soon for your position."
"Thank you, Hasegawa-san."
"You're welcome, and Keiko is fine. You remind me a lot of my second boy, by the way."
And you remind me of my mother.
"I'll see you soon, son. Take good care of your wife, yeah?"
"I will, Keiko-san."
Tumblr media
You are in the midst of hanging up his clothes in the closet when Rindou arrives home.
"ただいま."
"Huh? Why are you home at this hour?"
He kisses your forehead and takes the hanger from your hand. He tells you to sit down and you listen and . . . Great. He's taken charge of hanging his own clothes now.
Rindou is always doing the chores whenever he can now that you're too pregnant to move around even when you insist to him that you can do it. "I like to move around, Rin. 'Don't like to sit around 'n daydream all day, it's boring."
"Boss' let me off early." He states nonchalantly and you raise a brow. You see your husband organising his clothes by colour and you suddenly feel some kind of warmth blossoming in your chest. Much to you and his brother's demise, Rindou used to be the kind of person who doesn't hang his clothes and just throws it in his closet when he's done with the laundry but that changed drastically when he met you. You always nagged at him to hang them up and sort it out by colour, by shirt category, so it'll look more organised and neat when he opens the closet.
"Why?" "I'll tell you later." "Why can't you tell me now?" "It's a surprise." "Huh?"
You're so confused.
Rindou is facing you now. "Have you showered?" You shake your head and remove the claw clip from your hair, scratching at your scalp. "Not yet. I needa' wash my hair, though. It's kinda itchy."
"I'll wash for you." He leads you to the bathroom slowly and helps you into the shower when you both are stripped off your clothes.
You're standing on the non-slip mat and adjusting the water temperature when Rindou joins you in the shower. "I'll take you out tonight. What'chu feel like eating?" He rinses through your body and you hum softly as he starts lathering shampoo on your hair. "Dunno, but I don't feel like eating something spicy, though."
"You want western?" You let out a sigh when he scratches at the itchy spot just above your ear, "sure."
The both of you don't speak after that, choosing to relish in the comfort of the warm water running down your bodies but you're suddenly reminded of it. Cheers to him for managing to butter you up successfully.
"Are you gonna tell me why you're home early?"
"'Told'cha, boss' let me off early." "Yeah, but why?" "I'll tell you over dinner." "You're pissing me off, Rin. Tell me now."
Okay, you're getting mad.
He's grown used to your mood swings over the course of this pregnancy and after so long, he's figured that the best way to deal with it is just by simply accepting it. It'll go away eventually and he should be patient with you and your emotions. After all, it's harder on you.
But he can't deny that it's a bit funny, though. You're getting mad at him because he won't tell you the actual reason he's home early while he's busy washing your hair yet you're purring whenever he scratches at a certain spot on your scalp.
"I got some time off. You know, when you give birth then I'll get to be home 'n take care of you 'n 'Kiya."
"Oh, so you're a romantic."
"Of course."
You feel so happy after listening to him that you turn around (slowly) and pull him down for a quick smooch. "Here's one from 'Kiya." And you kiss him harder this time, "'n one from me."
Rindou is dumbfounded when he looks at you who has literal hearts in your eyes as you hold his face in your hands like he's fragile porcelain, like he's some fine china. You run your thumbs over his cheekbones and pinch his cheeks.
(Doing that made you remember the times you liked to pinch his chubbier ones when you were still teenagers.)
"'Love you."
You with soapsuds in your hair proclaiming your love to your husband for the nth time over the course of 15 years (before and after marriage) and him with his fingers tangled in your hair as he continues scrubbing.
He smirks handsomely, "you tryna skimp out on the kisses, mama? I know my daughter ain't so stingy with 'em," he removes his hands to touch on your bump, "gimme one more, baby."
A kick.
"She jus' said no."
"She said yes, you brat."
You hold him by the neck and softly inhale the scent of his musky body wash that you've grown to find comfort in. He's so endearing that you don't want to let go.
You never want to let go of him.
Rindou lands two strong and assuring hands on your waist and keeps you close to his body.
"Quit sniffin' me, I still need to wash your hair."
You suck on his neck and he squeezes your ass in return. It's nothing sexual or anything, you just like sucking on his neck randomly and Rindou never passes up the chance to grip on your fat.
Some of the foam from your hair has gotten to his face and he simply washes it off with water, though you still don't let go of him.
"Never change your body wash, babe."
"I know . . . You tell me that every day."
Tumblr media
Rindou is helping you pick out your outfit as you sit by the dresser doing your makeup. He's holding two dresses in his hands,
"Do you wanna wear this?”
Option A: a long red floral one that he bought for you while away at a business trip in Kyoto. He saw it while passing by and immediately stopped the car to cop it from the old lady. It wasn't for a special occasion or anything, he'd just seen it and felt like buying it for you and you haven’t got the chance to wear it until today.
"Or this?"
Option B: a shorter navy blue sundress that is obviously a little too tight and small for you right now.
“Baby, please. You know I can’t fit in that.” “I know. ‘Was just foolin’ wit’ ya.” “I’ll bite you.” “Go 'head.”
He lays the red dress down flat on your bed and plops down beside it, waiting for you to get ready. “I’m still halfway done wit’ the nursery. I’ll have more time to work on it now that I’m home.” Rindou says and you finish clipping on your right earring. “It’s just the crib and rocking chair left now, right?” You’re referring to the unfinished pieces of furniture that’s sitting in the nursery room next door and he hums as a response.
"Are we finished buying Sakiya's stuff? We can get the remaining later when we’re out. Settle it sooner, you know?"
“No, we’re finished. Ran ‘n Miwa have already bought tons for us.” You think of your sister-in-law who seems more excited for Sakiya's arrival than you, constantly buying you gifts like clothes and toys for the baby whenever she and Ran comes over for dinner together. “Auntie Miwa and Uncle Ran are so excited to see you, girl.” Miwa squeals as she touches your baby bump, feeling a soft kick to her palm.
“Ran is helping us save money now?” You laugh at his joke, “he seems enthusiastic to do so.”
In another city all the way in Ikebukuro is Ran in his home office sneezing with Miwa standing behind him massaging his back. “You’ve got a cold too? Everyone around me is getting a cold and it isn’t even flu season. I’ll have to stay away from you now, Ran. I don’t like getting sick.” She blabbers along and Ran simply hushes her down with a hand to her mouth. Miwa licks it and he retracts his hand away with a scowl, “you’re nasty, love. And you talk too much.” Miwa places a hand on her hip as she looks down at her husband like a mother scolding her son, “I’m not the one sneezing and at a risk of falling sick.” “It’s just Rindou talkin’ ‘bout me, wifey. I know it, I can feel it.”
Back home in Ueno is Rindou sneezing again. “Stupid Ran, he talkin’ ‘bout me too? Asshole.” “Huh?”
Neither Ran nor Rindou stops sneezing for the next five minutes and you and Miwa are left confused, wondering about just how strong these two brothers’ telepathy senses are.
You are actively ignoring your husband’s mumbling and cursing about stupid Ran this, stupid Ran that while combing your hair and Miwa isn’t even in the room with Ran anymore.
“Stop sneezing, Rin.” “Then tell Ran to stop talkin’ ‘bout me.” “Shaddap, you’re just makin’ things up.” “‘M not.”
While blowing his nose on a tissue you handed him, Rindou hears you humming along to a song playing on the radio and he instantly feels at peace.
He's home, you're sitting pretty on the stool, you'll be enjoying Western food together at a fancy restaurant downtown later tonight, and Sakiya will be here anytime soon.
Everything is calm and fine,
and Rindou thinks he will never be giving up this serenity for the world. He'll burn it up if he has to; if it guarantees his family forever peace and happiness.
There can only be his family.
His love. His heart.

"It will become fine dust over all the land of Egypt and it will become boils breaking out with sores on man and beast through all the land of Egypt." - Exodus 9:9
"I want to go back," you say in the elevator heading up to the office.
"Me too. Maybe we can make this a monthly thing. You know, go someplace really fancy for the weekend."
"I'd really like that," you grin and pull him closer. You two are the only ones inside the elevator, so you don't feel bad when you kiss him like you would in the bedroom. "I love you."
"I love you."
"No, I mean I'm in love with you. Every part of you."
"You stole the words right out of my mouth," he laughs.
The elevator doors open and the smile is lost from your face. The entire BAU floor is covered with people from the military. Something is happening but you're not sure what. No one is visually panicking but you can feel it all. Derek and Emily are by the glass doors just watching the chaos.
"What the hell is going on?" you ask and join their side. "Why is the Military here?"
Without stopping to talk to anyone, you head into the briefing room where JJ, Rossi, Hotch, and some strange woman are.
"What is going on?"
"Guys, this is Dr. Linda Kimura, Chief of Special Pathogens with the CDC."
"Hello. I'm sorry to meet under these circumstances."
"What circumstances?" Spencer asks.
"Last night, twenty-five people checked into emergency rooms in and around Annapolis. They were all at the same park after two in the afternoon yesterday. Within ten hours, the first victim died. It's now just past seven in the morning. The next day, we have twelve dead."
You take the files and read through them quickly.
"Lung failure and black lesions. Is this Anthrax? This doesn't kill that fast."
"This strain does."
"What are we doing about potential mass targets like airports, malls, and trains?"
"There's a media blackout."
"We're not telling the public?" Email gasps.
"We'd have a mass exodus. The psychology of group panic would cause more deaths than this last attack. If it does get out, whoever did this might go underground or destroy their samples."
"Or if they wanted attention and don't get it, they might attack again. Doesn't the public have the right to know that?"
"I agree with Emily here. The public has a right to know this," you agree.
"If there is another attack, there's no way we'll be able to keep it quiet. Our best chance of protecting the public is by building a profile as quickly as we can. What do we know about this strain?"
"The spores are weaponized, reduced to a respirable ideal that attacks deep in the lungs. It's odorless and invisible. This is a sophisticated strain. Only a scientist would know how to do that."
"These lesions are doubling in size in a matter of hours."
"It's not the lesions I'm worried about, it's the lungs. We don't know how to combat the toxins once they're inside. The reality is, we may lose them all. The remaining survivors have been moved to a special wing at Walter Reed Hospital. I'd like for your offices to become a small command center."
"We'll be working with military scientists from Fort Detrick," Hotch says.
"General Whitworth is coming here?" Rossi asks.
"He's in charge of site containment and spore analysis. Determining what strain this is will help inform who's responsible."
"My team is in charge of treating all victims," Linda informs.
"Reid and Y/N, go with Dr. Kimura to the hospital and interview the victims. Morgan and Prentiss, there's a hazmat team that will accompany you to the crime scene." Linda brings in some pills for everyone in the room. "This is Cipro. Everybody needs to take it before we go."
"We don't know if it's effective against this strain, but it's something."
You take a deep breath to calm yourself and grab one of the cups. You look over at JJ who is trying to suppress her concern. As soon as she takes it, she leaves and heads to her office to be alone. You know she's worried about her family. If she can't tell the public, then she can't tell her family about the risks.
Before you can go to the hospital, you need the files on all the victims who have been affected by this strain. JJ has all the files, so you and Spencer follow her to her office. She is looking at her phone with a look of concern on her face.
"Do you have the files on the victims?" Spencer asks.
"Did you see this memo from the director? Office phones and emails are being monitored."
"Yeah, they're trying to protect the media blackout. Files?"
"Right here."
She hands them over to him.
"Thanks. I want to see what kind of medical treatment the victims received before we head to the hospital."
There had been another strain of Anthrax that was going around in 2001 where the suspect put the Anthrax on envelopes. It affected a lot of people but it was never this deadly.
"Why do you think the suspect in 2001 stopped sending the letters?" JJ asks about the previous incident.
"I have no idea, but if he hadn't, it would have been much worse."
"The worst part was not knowing when it was gonna be over. You know, feeling safe opening mail again."
"Five people died. Many more were exposed and gotten sick including a baby who was admitted into the hospital after lesions appeared on his skin."
"How did he contract it?" JJ asks worriedly.
"I have no idea. The baby must have come into close contact with a tainted letter or crossed paths with the unsub himself."
"How old was the baby?"
"Seven months."
Fear and panic spike from JJ. She thinks about her own son getting this. She wants nothing more than to contact her family and warn them.
"Did he survive?"
"We gotta go. Dr. Kimura's waiting. I'll call you from the hospital."
"Spence. Did the baby survive?"
"Yeah, but, I mean, that was a curable strain. This thing's entirely different."
"Spencer, you are freaking her out," you whisper. "She has a baby of her own." Spencer goes quiet and decides to leave before he says anything worse. "JJ, listen to me. Henry is going to be fine. Will is going to be fine. I am your son's Godparent, so I say he's going to be just fine. You can't think like that."
"Like what?" she whispers with tears in her eyes.
"Like that. You're going to go home and be with your family who are going to be fine. I love you, but I have to go now. Keep your head up, JJ. They're gonna be fine."
Rossi and Hotch work with General Whitworth and the CIA to figure out what's going on here. The CIA said there are a few overseas terrorist groups with funding and capability for this. The FBI and CIA need to look at anyone who is going to profit from poisoning everyone, especially people who have patents on Anthrax vaccines. Not to mention anyone with access to weaponized spores like people from universities, scholars working in bioweapons research, and employees of labs who keep germ collections.
General Whitworth and his men are trying to decode the strain and learned that the additives used to strengthen the bacterial capsules don't exist at the CIA research labs, and there aren't any known labs to have these substances. He'll provide a list of all scientists in the CIA Anthrax programs just so the FBI can rule out anyone who decides to have a side project.
This unsub is someone who has the ability to manipulate and weaponize Anthrax, so it doesn't matter what General Whitworth's views are on the BAU. Someone above him believes in the power of profiles, so he has no choice but to listen to orders.
You and Spencer reach the hospital with the people who are sick with Anthrax. The public doesn't know what is going on so there isn't a lot of panic going around, but the ones that are affected are struggling very hard. There is only one person who is well enough to answer some questions since most others are either dead or close to being dead. Dr. Linda Kimura leads you and Spencer to Abby Belle's room.
"Hi, Abby," Linda says gently. "Are you feeling any better?" She shakes her head no. "This is Agent Reid and Y/N from the FBI. If you can, will you talk with them?"
This time, she nods. You walk around to the other end of the bed and hold out your hand for her to take. She doesn't know what's going on but what harm would this do? She lifts her hand just enough for you to slip your hand underneath.
"Abby, I'd like to try to do a memory recall exercise with you to take you back to the park, if that's okay." She nods. "I need you to close your eyes." She does. "Yesterday afternoon, you rode your bicycle to the park. How did the sun feel on your skin? The breeze through your hair? Can you describe for me what you heard and the people that you saw?"
"It was warm... windy," she whispers. You allow her words to take you back to that day. The park was in full effect with a bunch of people enjoying the sun. There is a game of men playing football, kids swinging on the playground, dogs running around with each other, people on bikes, and others walking the trail. "There were guys playing football... Kids... I see free... Me seen fee me. Free knee."
Her speech is screwed up from whatever the Anthrax is doing to her, and she is panicking.
"It's alright, Abby. You just rest now," Linda says.
"Me mock fee key me free," she whimpers.
"Just rest, Abby. Thank you."
You, Spencer, and Linda leave her room to give the doctors an opportunity to work on Abby.
"What's causing her aphasia?"
"The poison is infecting the parietal lobe which impairs her speech. Some of the other patients displayed the same symptoms shortly before they died."
"There's nothing that is helping them? Nothing is working?" you ask.
"The only thing that's helping them right now is the morphine."
Emily and Derek reached the park in Maryland which has been closed for observation. Emily is against not telling the public about this, but she isn't in a position of authority to make that call. So, instead of telling people the truth, officials have told the public there is Methane buildup in the sewage system. Since they're oblivious as to what's going on, they believed it.
There is a certain spot in the park that has high levels of Anthrax where the unsub most likely released the attack. The wind spread the Anthrax around the park and hit everyone who was there. It's weird because you didn't think that a park would be a target for anything. Terrorists usually target symbols like the White House, Pentagon, and the World Trade Center. The park is nice but it's nothing like a symbol building.
It could be symbolic for the unsub like how Ted Kaczynski sent bombs to Berkley where he taught, to Michigan where he went to school, and to Chicago where he lived. The suspect who attacked with Anthrax in 2001 sent letters to two pro-choice senators whose politics he opposed. People like that can't help but attach a personal motive to the places they've targeted, so this park must mean something to the unsub.
In the last two hours alone, more people have come into the hospital seeking medical attention for being sick, and the panic and fear are getting to you. No one knows what's going on, and humans fear the unknown. You're trying hard not to let it get to you but for someone with your abilities, it's hard.
You wipe your eyes before the tears have a chance to fall, and Spencer takes you off to the side.
"Hey, it's going to be okay."
"Is it? How do you know?"
"I don't," he sighs. "I have hope that we're going to figure this out because we always do."
"I wish that'd give me comfort." You look around the hospital and see parents hugging their sick children and people comforting their loved ones. "Promise me you won't do something stupid."
"What?"
"We're the only ones that know what's going on. Please don't do anything stupid. This is your life. I can't bear the thought of losing you. Please be careful."
"Only if you promise to do the same."
"Sorry to interrupt, but this whole thing is baffling me. Seventeen out of twenty-five people are dead. This strain is duplicated every thirty to forty-five minutes. It's poisoning the lungs and causing massive hemorrhaging and organ failure."
"Whoever created this had to at some point go to the trouble of testing it. First, they start with rodents, then advance to larger mammals, and then they do a very small trial run with people. There's no way this was his first human test run."
"We would have heard about a previous anthrax attack," Linda says.
"Not if it presented itself as something else," you state. "Is there anything that happened recently that was kind of like what's happening now?"
"Yeah, actually."
She tells you what happened a couple of days ago and gives you files on the patients affected. Your phone rings and you and Spencer go into an empty hospital room to answer the phone. You place JJ on speakerphone.
"Hey, JJ."
"Hey, you have me, Hotch, and Rossi."
She sounds like she's been crying because she is so worried about her family. She can't tell them anything but she wants to so badly.
"JJ, are you okay?"
She doesn't comment.
"It turns out that two days ago, two people in two separate Baltimore ERs, and one person in a Philadelphia ER slipped into comas and died suddenly. The COD on all of them was meningitis. Doctors didn't test for Anthrax because the illnesses presented themselves as meningitis, but I think it can be caused by Anthrax."
"Did they show symptoms that we're seeing now like the lesions?"
"They wouldn't have if the bodily functions expired as quickly as they did."
"How quickly?"
"They were all dead within three hours of being admitted."
"Wait, the first patient died yesterday at ten in the morning."
"If they inhaled a higher concentration of the strain, it would cause a quicker death through organ failure without exterior physical symptoms."
"What are their names?"
Spencer looks through the files. You can feel JJ's sadness through the phone. You'd love nothing more than to tell Hannah about what's going on, but she's in New Jersey and likely won't be affected. Will and Henry live right in the danger zone.
"JJ, listen to me. I need you to breathe. Henry is going to be fine and so is Will. You're going to go home and see your family. You need to tell yourself this."
"Okay, their names are Gale Mercer who was thirty-one, Martha Finestein who was forty-eight, and Albert Franks who was fifty-two."
"Did they visit the same place on the day they were affected?"
"Gale made a credit card purchase at a bookstore owned by Albert."
"We'll send Morgan and Prentiss out there to investigate."
"Remember, JJ, breathe," you say before hanging up.

what are your ocs’ fav moments or memories with reader?
Can’t go too into details.. so I’m only going to do this for OCs who’s first moment seeing reader hasn’t been described yet. Using the small font so this shit fits lol
So no Riki, Keita, and Yubin… their first meet is in their story. No Yuta and Kimura as well for plot reasons.
Yichen’s favorite is when he was only twelve. He was bruised and bloody after his first ever kill on a monster. And he’s just sitting there in the snow, reeling on the fact he just killed something.. when he sees you, running with your mother chasing you. And the sight of your smile… even if it wasn’t directed at him.. he felt a bit better.. ignoring the blood covering his face. He hoped to see you smile again.
Xavier’s favorite has to be when he was stressing on his first day of university. He’s just walking around, not knowing where his class was.. but then you just pull at his sweater, this short guy who stares up at him. And you just pull him to the classroom. He doesn’t know how you knew this was his class.. but he didn’t care. He hoped to talk to you again soon…. He wanted to know your name
Eun Jae’s favorite is when he was sitting at the usual faculty outing that all Korean universities have at new school years. And he just remembers feeling stressed, his seniors trying to make him drink more than he wanted to, even despite his constant no. You, this guy who was obviously at your company’s little party in the restaurant, ‘accidentally’ dropped your drink all over one of the seniors. And when the seniors looked away, you simply smiled and winked, walking back to your coworkers.. he just had to know who his savior was.
Mikey’s favorite has to be when he was practicing with the school’s band. He was standing in the sun, sweating his ass off when he saw you. You didn’t look at him, too busy stretching with your buddies.. but wow, you were so pretty. Probably one of the prettiest guys he’s ever seen at this school.. he needed to know who you are.
Vincent’s favorite would have to be when he brought his little brothers over to his current girlfriend’s house. He didn’t expect you to pay his brothers any mind.. your sister certainly didn’t. But you got to know them, even played their stupid made up games they learned at elementary school. And even if you’re normally a brat he gets tired of.. he liked seeing you in that light. But he quickly pushed the thought away. Shit… maybe you weren’t so bad after all.

"They're ready to head to the base terminals to start them up. Apparently all three of them shut down after conduction of foreseeing your current and past predicament." Fu Xuan said, looking at (Y/n) after she had returned from giving orders to her assistant.
(Y/n) lifted an eyebrow as if to say, 'is it my fault ? Damn, sorry', but Fu Xuan sighed and put a hand on the forearm of the taller lady next to her.
"No, it's not your fault. The symbols on the Matrix have been dimming for quite a while now, it was expected for it to not be able to recount such memories as distant the Era of Bloodshed." Fu Xuan said, shaking her head.
"Then, if so, would it be able to relinquish Kafka's means ?" (Y/n) asked as she looked at the Master Diviner of the Luofu.
"To reread the recent past written by a mortal to another, is hardly much of a chore." Fu Xuan said with a proud huff, her cute cheeks blushing red with happiness.
"I suppose a lady as capable as yourself shouldn't have any problem in pulling through crises." (Y/n) said with a small smirk.
Fu Xuan flushed and she almost beams at the words of the former High Elder of the Vidyadhara. Then she turns away, trying to keep the ghost of a smile hidden from her face.
"You and that sugar-tongued General...he has really been rubbing off on you, hasn't he ?"
(Y/n) chuckled, shaking her head slightly with dusted cheeks. "As it is, fate is inevitably cruel to those blessed with more time than others. It is only natural to adopt similar instances of speech."
"Ugh..." Qingque grumbled, looking down with tears in her eyes. "I worked so hard in getting transferred to the repository. It was the best place to slack off and be invisible..."
"Now, I actually have career prospects...this is terrible !" She sobbed softly. "If I screw up, they might fire me...but if I get it done right, they'll send me more work !"
But as (Y/n) approached, Welt coughed into his fist, stopping Qingque's rambles.
"Lady (Y/n), will you be joining us ?" Welt asked as the royal lady approached them, her hand fan elegantly resting in the palms of her left hand, the hilt firmly wrapped with her right.
"Yes. I am indebted to the Master Diviner, the General, and those who had expressed concern over my wellbeing." (Y/n) said with a nod. "I shall assist you with whatever power I possess."
"L-Lady (Y/n) herself is accompanying us ?" The librarian, whose name was Qingque, as she recalled, said, looking at the horned woman with admiration in her green eyes. She was just grumbling a moment ago how there was extra work but no extra rewards.
Maybe...
"Does that mean we'll get jobs done faster ?"
"Perhaps ?"
"Oh great ! Then, let's go ! I want to play-- i mean..."
The brunette coughed into her fist for a bit.
"I would like to complete the task provided by the Master Diviner as efficiently as possible. Then, spend my leisure time with some relaxing but mind boggling luck based games." Qingque said, trying to mask her want to get the job done and quickly slack off to go play some Celestial Jade.
(Y/n) chuckled a bit before parting ways with the librarian to meet up with Jing Yuan who was addressing the present events with Stelle and March.
"Fu Xuan's Matrix of Prescience was able to go one step further than Kafka. To maintain the upper hand, I had to keep it a surprise. I hope this hasn't made you doubt my sincerity ?" Jing Yuan said with a smile as he nodded at the approach of (Y/n), his smile turning warmer.
March did NOT look impressed. "Next time, ease off on the surprises ?"
"I promise to be more transparent next time. This time it was sealed tight, not even (Y/n) was aware of my moves."
Jing Yuan looked a little guilty, but not by much.
"At present, Kafka has no intention of speaking and the Stellaron Hunters' motives remain unknown. We must rely on the power of the Divination Commission to unearth the truth." The General said again.
"'Unearth the truth'..." Welt said before looking at Jing Yuan. "You mean, interrogate Kafka using the Matrix of Prescience ?"
"Precisely. The Matrix of Prescience is the Divination Commission's ultimate weapon. It was originally used to calculate navigation routes and predict future events..." Jing Yuan said with a slight nod of his head. "With, special exceptions of course."
"Special exceptions ?" March asked, looking quite invested in the functionality of such a master device.
"Yes. For instance interrogation. The secrets of the Stellaron Hunters' cannot remain hidden for any longer. I have no choice but to move beyond conventional protocol -- we must use divination to ascertain Kafka's intent."
"And for the second means, is to peer into the misty fog that prevents power and past knowledge that is needed to be applied in special circumstances and for health purposes." Jing Yuan said, looking at (Y/n). "Lady (Y/n)'s recurring memories were quite literally dragging her consciousness to the brink of insanity. And as you all know, she possesses timeless and indispensable knowledge."
"Everything hinges on restoring the Matrix of Prescience, which is why I would like you to help Diviner Fu complete the setup. I am eternally grateful for your assistance."
"And as such, I would like you all to look after this little princess for me. She wants to come along with you, and I hope you'll help me keep an eye on her." Jing Yuan said as he gestured to (Y/n) with a cheeky grin.
"Wh-what ?! How rude !"
After repairing the first screen, the group teleported to their first destination. The first of three terminals. The Temporal Terminal which correlates with essence of time. "Observes the potential of the temporal plane" as they say.
After arranging the Mutare Magnus of the Temporal Terminal, the group then moved towards the second gate, where there was a malfunctioning robot, sparking with electricity and buzzing circuits.
"What the heck is this ? It looks like a walking gate !" March said, looking at the automaton in slight fear and awe.
"An Aurumaton. A guard-like robot placed in strategic places. The Matrix is very crucial and information abundant, so it's a...protection measure to make sure only those allowed could activate the terminal." (Y/n) said, looking at the malfunctioning piece of metal suspiciously.
"I feel like it needs a sign saying 'mortals forbidden' or something..." March said, hiding behind (Y/n) while holding onto her arm. Then she looked at Qingque with worried eyes. "Are you sure it wont fly into a rage if we walk past it...?"
"We're here by the order of the master diviner to restart the Matrix of Prescience. We're friends -- not foes !" Qingque declared to the Aurumaton.
The malfunctioning Aurumaton stood up, voice crackling with a broken chip. taking a stance. March yelped and (Y/n) pushed March even more behind her, and standing in front of Stelle.
Qingque looked panicked as she looked at the rising Aurumaton. "Ah...! March, you should join the Divination Commission ! Quick, do something !"
"Get back !" (Y/n) exclaimed, pulling out her fan as she summoned, cloudhymn magic to conjure up surrounding water to slip into the broken cracks of the piece of machinery.
"Before me !" (Y/n) commanded, before stomping her foot onto the ground, leaving a crown of ice circling her foot. Then she swung her fan, using her ice powers to freeze the water that slipped into the Aurumaton, locking it in place.
(Y/n) panted as she set down her fan, the fear from the sudden attack taking her by surprise. Her cheeks were a little dusted even though it was an easy battle for her, but she had to admit.
She was scared for a moment there.
"Hurry. Before the ice melts, you have to either destroy it, or spend time looking for the control panel and cutting the wires." (Y/n) said and Stelle hurriedly rushed forward with March by her side.
"It should be on the back !" Qingque said, still cowering behind (Y/n) as she held the legend's arm.
Without thinking much, March found the control circuit and conjured up an ice knife to cut through the colorful wires.
Then, just as hoped, the Aurumaton fell to the ground, broken. It crackled with sparks, as it serving a warning like it would get up again. But knowing that the circuits were ripped apart, they were sure that it was no longer a need to be afraid...
Then the group entered the second terminal, the Spatial Terminal. It was designed to retrieve information based on space, as Qingque explained. This time, (Y/n) sat by the side as she watched the other girls line up the Mutare Magnus, finding it endearing how they bickered over what way they should put down the pins to achieve the required shape.
And as they walked into the third and final terminal, March looked around with hands on her hips.
"So...let me guess, time, space... I bet the next terminal is energy-related !" March said proudly with a bright smile one her lips.
"Darn..." Qingque groaned as she looked at March with a sorry smile. "The Karma Terminal. They say this terminal is designed to establish casual relationships."
"What ?!"
The three began to move around, arranging the Mutare Magnus, even (Y/n) decided to join in to help them after watching them reset the plane a couple of times.
As she hopped in to help move the pins, she was suddenly reminded of an old memory that flashed in her mind.
"Hey ! Not too far out !" The familiar beloved would call out, chuckling as he followed the tugging of the blanket in his hands. He held the edge of the blanket in his thin but crafty hands, calloused from the harsh work he endured day and night to produce legends.
"But I want the blanket to be straight and tense before setting it down, Yingxing !"
"I understand, but there is no need to pull it so hard, beloved." The older man said, shaking his head as he set down the blanket on the grassy plains beneath the tree.
Wind blew past his hair, causing it to fly all over the place. The white-haired man sighed as he pushed back his long tresses behind his ear. Then he looked at her with a kind and loving gaze, the light of the moon highlighting his features.
"Well ? What are you waiting for ? Come sit down with me, my moon dancer."
Then she saw herself sitting close to the older man, snuggling happily in his arms as the two of them laid under the blanket of stars. The sight of the man staring into her eyes with love as he leaned in to kiss her forehead.
"--dy (Y/n) ?" A voice called out.
"Lady (Y/n) !" A cheerful and bright voice called out, making (Y/n) snap out of her trance-like state. The dragon lady blinked a couple of times, taking in the difference of what seemed to be her memory and the reality in front of her.
All three of the girls were looking quite worried at (Y/n), as she had suddenly stopped after placing the pin in the board.
"Are you alright, Lady (Y/n) ?" March asked, looking quite concerned. "You suddenly spaced out all of a sudden ! We're done here now, and all the terminals have lit up, so let's go back and take a short rest." The pink haired girl advised.
(Y/n) didn't really seem to understand what had just happened, but she nodded and followed the group back to the core using the screens. Although she knew that there were alot of entities roaming around to cause havoc, she couldn't help but shake off the feeling as if there was someone watching her.
The red eyes that observed from afar turned around, once he had determined that his beloved was in safe hands.
"Well done, all of you. I can sense the Matrix of Prescience symbols re-illuminating." Fu Xuan said with a satisfactory smile. "Now, to interrogate Kafka."
The master diviner turned around to face the Matrix before shooting (Y/n) a glace. "Those of you in the core may feel a few...impacts."
March was about to question Stelle what Fu Xuan had said, but then there were two Cloud Knights escorting a young and beautiful woman with red wine hair tied in a messy ponytail and captivating eyes. She wasn't cuffed, yet made no attempt to flee, following the soldiers with a simple gloved hand on her hip.
"Is this really necessary ?" The woman named Kafka asked, her voice as alluring as her features. "I said I'd cooperate with you."
"I have no interest in the words of wanted criminals. Especially those skilled in the art of manipulation." Fu Xuan briskly answered, gaze averted with a frown on her face. Then with a breath, she turned back to face the detained criminal.
"So, say what you will. I'm here to witness the divination of the Matrix of Prescience." Fu Xuan said strongly. "The Divination Commission has ways of extracting the truth, and they're far more effective than a conversation."
The woman with wine red hair chuckled softly, turning to enter the core. That was, before she shot (Y/n) a brief glance with a smirk playing at her lips.
"Then please, Master Diviner."
"Witness my destiny."
With Kafka standing in the middle, hands bound by imaginary power, Fu Xuan stood by the edge, watching her before taking out the power of the matrix. With precise hand gestures and polished expertise, Fu Xuan closed her eyes before she began to extract and activate the power of the three terminals activated by (Y/n) and the group earlier.
The tiles correspondent to their reason and trait glowed, before forming a connection that linked the plates to the Master Diviner. With using the three terminals and herself, a large binding hexagram formed in the air, rotating and calculating the past, present and future.
Kafka levitated in the air, letting her form be suspended and closer to the Matrix' core without a struggle. Symbols and constellations surrounded her as the Master Diviner began to collect data by reading the lines and the meaning of her stars, yet she smiled. Her eyes began to glow a light blue from the power surging through and out of her body, letting it see through her memories and seek out the answers they chased after.
Fu Xuan's own eyes began to glow blue, as she resonated her consciousness with Kafka's and the Matrix itself, focusing and getting a good reading of her own divination.
That was before she saw what she sought after.
Fu Xuan gasped and immediately re-casted the spell, making the Matrix stop its function without the user and Kafka slowly descended to the ground.
"That's...why you're here...?" Fu Xuan asked, full of disbelief as she looked at Kafka.
Kafka smiled slyly and knowingly in return, enjoying the look of betrayal and disbelief painted so evidently on Fu Xuan's face.
"All for that ?!"
Kafka looked down, an unreadable expression in her magenta eyes. "Well ? Not what what you were expecting ?" Kafka asked, tilting her head a little although she had totally expected the reaction.
"I cant believe it..." Fu Xuan said, looking at Kafka in horror, as if the woman before her had told her the most atrocious lie ever known to mankind.
"But the Matrix of Prescience cannot be wrong..."
"What did you see ?" Stelle asked, looking at the Master Diviner worriedly.
"Kafka has nothing to do with the Stellaron." Fu Xuan said before landing her eyes on Stelle. "But you...it's you..."
Stelle looked so confused to what Fu Xuan was talking about, for it wasn't her that had seen the same visions as Fu Xuan did.
"Ha ! Absurd ! I'd never have thought it..."
Then her golden eyes landed on (Y/n), gaze slightly scrutinizing.
"And you...I'd never considered the relation..."
"Talking like this isn't solving anything, Master Diviner..." (Y/n) said, hands crossed over her chest. The other members of the Nameless, and the Amicassador of Sky-Faring Commission looked all confused the same.
Fu Xuan shook her head before nodding in Kafka's direction.
"Ask her yourself. Take as long as you wish."
Fu Xuan left in a hurry after that, saying something about needing to see the General as soon as possible. The remaining party remained unsure of how to proceed. And since it was both (Y/n) and Stelle that were directly regarded by Fu Xuan, it was now known that Kafka knows something about them.
Stelle looked unsure of how to approach the situation, but Welt nodded at her encouragingly. "It's fine...you go ask her. I know you have many questions for Kafka yourself."
Though Stelle looked determined, she was quite unready. "Mr. Yang..." she started. "I think I still need more time to figure out what I want to ask."
"Don't worry." (Y/n) said, putting a tender hand on Stelle's shoulder.
"I'll go first."
"Well...I have heard of you, former Lady High Elder." Kafka said with a little awe in her eyes. "But to see you up-close and personal isn't really the same feeling as he had implied it to be."
"Which do you prefer, Lady High Elder ? Or the Saltator Lunae ? Or even the name you go by with now ?"
"(Y/n) is fine." (Y/n) said, raising up a hand to stop Kafka.
"I had only just woken up from a slumber. So I do not know of your misdeeds to have you scoured by the cosmos itself. But what I do know of is Blade's affiliation with the Stellaron Hunters faction." (Y/n) said with a shake of her head, (h/c) locks swaying elegantly as she did so.
"To know that is more than enough. The Master Diviner wasn't aware of Bladie's intentions of meeting you here. But to see through me consciousness and be aware of it must've been a little surprising to her." Kafka answered simply and honestly, looking straight into (Y/n)'s eyes.
She couldn't be lying. Not that she needed to anyway.
"How was he aware that I was awake in the first place ? Not even the General anticipated my awakening." (Y/n) said with a curious tilt of her head.
"Well...that's because the Destiny's Slave had said so before." Kafka said with a small chuckle, remembering something quite amusing to her.
"You should've seen the look on Bladie's face when he was announced that he stood a chance to meet an intergalactical treasure that had laid dormant for centuries..." Kafka said tenderly.
"It was such...an odd encounter...with emotions so strong. I wonder if I'll ever experience something as intense." The cuffed woman said with a light chuckle.
"For the first time since I met him...he looked alive."
"For the stars had turned against us while we adhered to the laws...perhaps the tide of fate pities us for leading such miserable paths of fate to let us reunite in unfortune events..." Blade said to himself, red eyes clouded with memories, heart beating again with reason.
Unknowing that there was a certain concerned young woman eavesdropping in case his Mara had reacted in him. But oddly, there was no reaction even though Blade was reminiscing about his past.
"Dancer of the moon...shall time and fate allow us..." she heard him gasp softly through a rare soft but broken voice.
