Selwyn Birchwood Interview: Blues Sorcery
Tumblr media
BY JORDAN MAINZER
“Blues musicians are exorcists,” Selwyn Birchwood told me over the phone last month. In some ways, Birchwood is a traditional blues artist like the magicians he refers to. The Tampa guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, who cut his teeth playing with Sonny Rhodes and has opened for Buddy Guy and Robert Cray, wields a dusty voice and expressive guitar style, traversing the worlds of Chicago blues and Southern soul, subjects from heartbreak to swamp folklore. In other ways, though, he’s uniquely modern. For one, unlike blues stars then and now, Birchwood doesn’t play covers, standards, or traditional tunes. He also doesn’t write original songs that border on self-parody because they try so hard to sound like standards; instead, his pieces are biographical, centered in the places they were created and aim to illustrate, skirting notions of rockist purity to use contemporary recording techniques. And thankfully, his songs still do rock, whether emphasizing Birchwood’s lap steel, longtime baritone saxophonist Regi Oliver’s horns, or the rhythm section’s deftly controlled tempos.
Exorcist, Birchwood’s latest album out tomorrow via Alligator Records, is Birchwood’s most assured release yet. “I’ve always felt like I’ve been trying to find my own sound, and with this album, I’m confident [I have],” Birchwood said. “The music is imaginative, with real emotion and relatability.” From the soulful and sharp opener “Done Cryin’” to the album’s upbeat closing instrumental “Show Tune”, Birchwood takes us on a journey through not only the weird creeks and absurd depths of his home state, but the peaks and valleys of his mind. Of course, “FLorida Man”, given today’s political climate, is a hilarious standout. Beginning with studio recordings of real news headlines to come out of the Sunshine State, Birchwood leads the band through a horrified, yet strangely affectionate tour of the place “where rebel flags meet Mickey Mouse”. (“People outside of Florida think we are crazy. People inside of FLorida KNOW we’re crazy!” Birchwood has said about the track.) And the mighty “Swim At Your Own Risk” features field recordings from “a woodsy area by my house,” Birchwood said. “I put it all together on my laptop. COVID put me headfirst into [editing].”
Tumblr media
Sure, Birchwood’s enraptured-but-doomed relationship songs, from the “love gone terrifying” title track to the blistering, 6-minute “love gone wrong” jam “Horns Below Her Halo”, are phenomenal. But the true centerpieces come when Birchwood has time to reflect. “Plenty More To Be Grateful For” is a refreshing slice of perspective, 7 minutes of pure blues, while “Underdog” is a bit of psychedelic autobiography. And piano jaunt “ILa-View” perfectly combines Birchwood’s contemplations with knowing smirks, his similes for his affection akin to vices rather than romantic expressions. “I’ve heard so many songs that say, 'I love you,’ so if I say, 'I love you like the church loves money,' you believe me now,” Birchwood said, displaying the same sense of humor that’s obvious on record.
Birchwood’s last record, Living in a Burning House, made #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, and he admitted he’d like to see Exorcist “hit some of the same numbers.” More importantly, though, he’s always looking to experiment. For instance, he played bass on a few songs on Exorcist, his first time doing so on a recorded album. In general, he recognizes that any record is momentary. “The finished albums are a snapshot,” he said. “I’m always moving, always growing.” One thing, though, will never change: Birchwood will continue to wield his voice and his axe, whether expelling the evil spirits of lost love and rabid demons, or even just sitting back and appreciating how far he’s come.

"YOU KNOW I'M A CRAWLIN' KINGSNAKE, BABY, AND I RULES MY DEN."
PIC INFO: Spotlight on illustrated portrait of "King of the Boogie," vocalist, guitarist, bluesman John Lee Hooker (1917-2001), artwork by William Stout for his "Legends of the Blues" (2013) art book.
BIO: "John Lee Hooker helped define the post-World War II electric blues with his hypnotic, one-chord grooves that were at once both ultra-primitive and modern. Born near Clarksdale, MS, on August 22, 1917, he learned the blues and the beat he called “country boogie” from his stepfather William Moore, a local musician who was friendly with bluesmen such as Charley Patton, Blind Blake, and Blind Lemon Jefferson.
PART II: As a teenager, Hooker ran away to Memphis, finally settling in Detroit in 1943. His first hit, “Boogie Chillen,” was released in 1948. As primal as any blues ever recorded, it became an unlikely hit for Modern Records and Hooker’s career had begun in earnest. Other hits followed, including “Crawling King Snake Blues,” “I’m in the Mood,” and, in 1962, “Boom Boom.”
PART III: By that point, rock musicians had discovered the “boogie” and British Invasion bands like THE ROLLING STONES and THE ANIMALS acknowledged Hooker’s influence and covered his songs.
PART IV/END: In 1989, Hooker recorded "The Healer," an album that included guest artists such as Carlos Santana, Los Lobos, and Robert Cray. The result was a full career renaissance that culminated in a GRAMMY Award and headlining appearances at major festivals and clubs around the world. John Lee Hooker was a true pioneer and the bridge from the rural sounds of the Mississippi Delta to the urban, electric blues we know today."

do not support Headliner
I’m actually new to all the controversy surrounding Headliner. Usually I just stick to Tumblr and Reddit, which are both relatively ‘clean’ places for Bangtan content. I never knew about her violation of Bighit rules and her sasaeng tendencies prior to today.
But now that I know, I think I want to make it easier for other people to know about this, so that they can avoid accidentally supporting toxic behaviour. So, what did she do?
Back in 2017, she broke Bighit rules by posting pictures of JK outside of authorized photo-areas. There is a thorough article here. She apologized, but the fault in her actions remain.
Okay, now fast-forward to today, another fansite leaked some screenshots of a kktalk group chat on JK’s birthday. She had been keeping these screenshots since last year already. Honestly that’s such a distasteful act on her part.
The screenshots translations are here. A quote from @withluvyoon: this was leaked by the fansite BOY CALLED DESTINY. they sat on these screenshots for an entire year and when they finally leaked them, it was with a mocking caption.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically, the chat consisted of Headliner ranting about how JK didn’t reply to her gifts and that she wanted to beat him up. That sort of toxic mentality is sickening. I agree with what @hugseoks says: you can’t claim you love guk and then support someone who calls him a psychopath and threatens to “beat him up like a dog” just because they give you good content of him, that’s just not how it works. if you love guk and care for his well-being you need to stop supporting h*adliner and her stalker/violent ways for once and for all.
After that whole fiasco, Headliner released a statement, saying she’ll sue anyone who tries to repost the screenshots and that she isn’t a sasaeng fan and denies all her wrong-doings.
There have even been speculations that both bcd and hdl are scammers as well. All in all. Just don’t support either of these two fansites. And don’t buy merchandise from unofficial locations.
As ARMYs we need to be respectful of our boys’ privacy and be mindful that they are not obligated to interact with any of us individually, nor are we allowed to attempt to insert ourselves into their lives.

Lollapalooza’s Big Return Helped Usher In A New Festival Season [REVIEW]
words by Dani Deahl
As Lollapalooza’s gates opened on Thursday morning, the air was filled with fizzy excitement. Whoops rippled through the throngs of fans decked out in jewels, body glitter, and other adornments as the rush moved toward the main entrance. One attendee triumphantly thrust his vaccination card aloft as he yelled “Summertime Chi!”
Like hundreds of other live events, Lollapalooza was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. And, like hundreds of other live events that rescheduled for 2021, uncertainty hung in the air beforehand, despite the city’s insistence that the show would go on. And go on it did.
Precautions were put in place — attendees had to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results upon entrance every day while artists had to provide attestation letters in advance — but many remain concerned about crowds with hundreds of thousands of unmasked people. One Chicago Tribune reporter tweeted that “Fake COVID-19 vaccination cards are 100% a thing at Lollapalooza in Chicago.”
(For its part, the city maintains that there are no plans to shut Chicago down again. Mayor Lori Lightfoot said, “We’ve been able to open but do it with care because of the vaccinations.”)
this photo from lollapalooza is giving me so much anxiety omg pic.twitter.com/68POnvE9X3

Almost all were more than happy to comply with the added regulations. Lollapalooza says it only turned away about 600 people who showed up without paperwork on Thursday, a fraction of the day’s attendance.
It’s not surprising as the anticipation building up to the return of Lollapalooza was palpable. The iconic Chicago festival has been a staple for over 30 years and is a rite of passage for music lovers and acts alike. It’s famous for any number of things, including its location in the middle of the city which provides breathtaking views of the skyline (and cute photo ops in front of Buckingham fountain).
Over time, Perry Farrell’s brainchild has blossomed into a pop-up city within a city, replete with (depending on the year) opulent gifting suites, tucked away forests dotted with hammocks, and even a Red Bull gaming stage, where Ninja streamed on Mixer with acts like Madeon.
That last example might show just how diverse Lollapalooza has become over the years. It’s rooted in rock, but fans of just about any genre can get their fix and wander off their musical path to discover something new.
Dance in particular has its own separate and seminal history with Lollapalooza. The festival launched Perry’s Stage back in 2008 in order to give the genre a dedicated space. That first year in a tiny white tent, it hosted names like Willy Joy, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and DJ AM. Since then, the likes of CRAY, Alesso, Rezz, Shiba San, Seven Lions, and Duke Dumont have performed on Perry’s as the stage itself exploded in both size and production.
Now with the behemoth stage a mainstay, the dance audience gets the best of both worlds at Lolla: a top-notch experience with plenty of pyro, Co2, and fireworks, and the perfect location to stake as home base for the week. While dedicated hip-hop fans likely did the 15-20 minute trek across Grant Park many times to bounce between headliners, dance fans didn’t have the same worry as the genre is mostly contained to Perry’s. Camping out at Perry’s also affords the bonus of being relatively close to lockers, mobile charging, food, beer stations, and restrooms, a five-peat that can’t be said about many other locations across the festival’s expansive grounds.
This year, fans of dance were treated to heavy-hitters like Jauz, Alison Wonderland, and Grammy-nominated KAYTRANADA on Perry’s, alongside buzz-worthy up-and-comers like Moore Kismet, Wenzday, and Blossom. And, like some previous iterations of Lollapalooza (Daft Punk and Deadmau5 come to mind), dance was the mainstage event two nights, with headliner slots doled out to Marshmello and Illenium.
Among the dance artists, there was a wholesome sense of glee while on stage. For most acts, Lollapalooza was the largest event they had played since the pandemic took the music industry to its knees and snatched away live shows about a year and a half ago. For Alison Wonderland, in particular, the fest marked her first show on US soil in over a year. Within that context, Lollapalooza wasn’t just a festival, it was hope.
That sense of relief and gratitude was perhaps underlined best by Jauz’s set introduction, which began with an acapella of Eminem’s “Square Dance.” The singular line “It feels so good to be back” echoed out over the field at Perry’s to swells of cheers. Then, the Roland Clark acapella of “Glad You’re Home” kicked in over a house beat. “Hello my friends,” says Clark, “It’s been so long since I’ve seen your faces. I miss you so much.”
Other notable moments included Marc Rebillet (affectionately known as “Loop Daddy” because of his Boss RC-505 Loop Station) running in large circles on stage in a silk robe leading the crowd in a “fuck Jeff Bezos” chant, Twista making a surprise appearance with YehMe2 to perform “Overnight Celebrity” during Brownies & Lemonade All Stars, and Dr. Fresch goading the Limp Bizkit crowd to smash Wes Borland’s guitar to pieces. Because, sure.
Aside from the music, there was an interesting but noticeable shift: Perry’s, for the first time, is no longer called Perry’s. This year, web-scale blockchain company Solana got in the mix, rebranding the stage as Perry’s x Solana. As part of the integration, Solana built a digital Lolla NFT Marketplace with limited edition NFTs (non-fungible tokens) for purchase. NFTs on sale include a 1-of-1 NFT of the original 1991 Lollapalooza poster priced at $9,999, and 25 NFTs of Steve Aoki throwing cake during his Friday night set priced at $999.99 each. If those prices make you dizzy, there are plenty at lower prices, and even some that can be claimed for free.

At the end of four days, when people would normally be exhausted, beaten down by Chicago’s summer humidity and the sheer amount of physical exertion spent darting from stage to stage for hours at a time, there was instead a lightness.
Ultimately, the festival’s storied history combined with the excitement of fans and musicians dipping their toes back into live events made this year’s Lollapalooza feel like a collective emotional reunion. Albeit one that’s complicated, and understandably so. As one of the skyscrapers lining Grant Park’s border reminded fans through lit-up windows at the end of each night: “#VACC TO LOLLA.”

Not sure if this will go through, but I wanted to say some things about this Bananarella faux-du-faux. 1) The tabloids are making money when they write of her so they will write whatever headlines get clicks, comments and shares. 2) She cray. She didn’t give birth to ‘the baby’ and can’t show him in public. 4) The Kardashians behave like Buddhist nuns compared to Empress Cray. 5) So let us pray an AWESOME ROLE MODEL captures more clicks and comments.
Agreed!  Thank you😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

19 Spooky Things That Happened In 2019 - And The Links To Watch Them Happen!
365 days.
That’s as long as it takes to change the world.
This year, we saw Greta Thunberg take on world leaders, we bore witness to the Time’s Up movement flex its muscles, and we hit share on the first picture of a black hole. Oh, and your favourite blog was started!
Tumblr media
And so, as 2019 draws to a close, chances are your Twitter feeds, your TV shows and your conversations will be crammed full of everyone’s own personal take on the year. On top of that, the final few days of the year will also be chock full of existential crises based on every resolution you failed to meet in the last 12 months.
(Until next year, driving licence...)
But regardless of the politics, and aside from those promises you swore to keep all-year-round, there are some events that simply go ignored. Like the spooky ones.
The ones about haunted baby monitors.
The ones about prophecies claiming this pope will cause the end of the world.
And the ones about the Loch Ness Monster’s Chinese cousin.
I wanted to change that. So, today’s article is going to take you through the 19 spookiest thangs that gon’ don’ went down in 2019.
For the last time this year: let’s get spooky!
#1 - A Nanny Cam Picks Up Paranormal Activity In Michigan (March)
It might sound like it’s fresh from the screenplay of some forgotten Paranormal Activity movie, but this tale has the evidence most ghost stories are scraping the bottom of the barrel for:
It may have seemed like a typical night for this Michigan-based family, but the usual practice checking on their child via the baby monitor took a turn for the terrifying.
The footage clearly shows a strange, transparent figure move in front of the crib, and the child watch it. But then, the baby cries, something that has been deduced to a sharp scratch found on its arm shortly after the incident.
An affliction from someone beyond the grave, perhaps?
Apparently so: the parents traced the history of their home back to a former tenant who committed suicide in the apartment.
Here’s the footage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7cNDGk_loQ
#2 - Lorraine Warren - The Inspiration Behind The Conjuring Universe - Dies (April)
This year we lost a paranormal icon.
Tumblr media
Lorraine Warren was one half of the ghost-hunting dream-team that investigated some of America’s - and even some of the UK’s - most haunted places and people.
The inspiration behind the ever-sprawling Conjuring universe, Lorraine was possibly the most famous and established medium in the world, using her gift to communicate with spirits entangled in cases such as the Amityville haunting, the Perron family farmhouse, and the Devil Made Me Do It court case.
Whether it's the silver screen bringing their stories to the fore, or their haunted museum, there’s no doubt that she was pretty damn awesome.
#3 - A New Haunting Is Sighted (And Filmed) At Myrtle’s Plantation (April)
Myrtle’s Plantation may already be haunted by the dark history of slavery in the USA, but it is also famed for its less metaphorical paranormal activity: haunted mirrors, the screams of dying Civil War soldiers, and a young girl sporting a green turban are just a few of the things to see and hear at this Louisiana tourist spot.
Tumblr media
Yet despite being opened in 1796, only this year was a new haunting witnessed.
And filmed.
https://video.dailymail.co.uk/preview/mol/2019/04/25/6516021902273592342/636x382_MP4_6516021902273592342.mp4
The story goes that a young couple were enjoying a romantic visit to the BnB - well, I say romantic, it’s a former plantation - and saw 3 pairs of small, ghostly feet scurry across the floor. When they reported this claim to the staff, it connected yet another dot regarding the paranormal portrait of the area.
It turns out that the ghosts of children are often reported by visitors and staff alike, whether it’s floral fragrances passing through the air, or being poked and touched by invisible hands. This aligns closely with claims that numerous children have died on the plantation as a result of Yellow Fever.
#4 - Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum Is Temporarily Closed Due To Extreme Paranormal Activity (June)
When you gather enough haunted items together in one building, you expect some spooky-ass shit to go down, right? Well, that’s exactly what happened in June.
Zak Bagans - the mastermind behind hit TV show, Ghost Adventures - has his very own museum dedicated to the supernatural in Las Vegas, and had to shut down an exhibit citing danger to the staff.
Housed in this exhibit was ‘the Devil’s Wheelchair’, supposedly the chair David Glatzel sat in when exorcised as a part of the Devil Made Me Do It court case.
Tumblr media
Concerns were first raised when a plug near the chair was yanked out of the wall by an invisible force, and a nearby door swung open in a similar fashion. Following this simple activity was an intensified level of activity which began to threaten the tour guides explaining the exhibit to visitors.
No less than 5 tour guides broke down crying for seemingly no reason whilst near the exhibit, and one even collapsed.
#5 - A Ghost Is Seen In The Love Island Villa (July)
This summertime TV hit might make the headlines for all the wrong reasons, but this story seemed to slip under the radar.
Tumblr media
Joanna Chimonides, a rather controversial contestant from this year, claimed a blonde ghost visiting the sleeping contestants and bending over their beds was a common feature of their evenings.
It is what it is. (It’s a reference to the show, ok, I’m down with the kidz.)
#6 - Yet Another Sighting Of The Loch Ness Monster Is Reported (July)
The summer wasn’t just full of young men and women swanning ‘round Majorca “looking for love” - it was also chock full of sightings of Nessie.
Thanks to the warm, calm weather gracing Scotland in July, there was a spike in claims of seeing the beast as anything breaking the surface of the Loch was far easier to see. In fact, by the end of the month we’d had the 12th sighting of the year!
Tumblr media
#7 - A Bar’s CCTV Catches A Ghost Doing, Uh, Ghost Things (July)
This year, the Idaho based brewery, Milner’s Gate, shot to viral fame having caught paranormal activity on its CCTV. The staff witnessed strange goings on in the dead of the night via their security footage, and uploaded it to YouTube to show what really happens after dark.
You can clearly see several barstools being pulled out from underneath a bar by an invisible force.
But someone could’ve been hiding underneath the bar, surely? Unfortunately, there was no space for them to hide.
Debate might still rage in the comments section of this YouTube video, but it is an interesting watch - whether you believe, or not.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKXT7Vz9T6k
#8 - Hobo Hill House Gets Put On Airbnb (August)
Boutique hotels, country cottages, and cosy nooks in picturesque places tend to dominate the listings on AirBnB (AND drive up the prices). But taking in a coastal view isn’t the only option anymore: Hobo Hill House, a 109 year old house tucked away in Jefferson, bears the label ‘haunted’ instead.
Tumblr media
Bought in 2017 by its current owners, this house supposedly features a variety of ghosts, and the resulting paranormal activity has amounted to the possession of the 8 year old daughter and their beloved family dog acting cray-cray. Within 7 months they’d got the hell outta there.
Most visitors cannot last the night.
#9 - Another Nanny Cam Sees Another Ghost (August)
It’s been a busy year for ghosts haunting and harassing small infants: in LA, a Nanny Cam app picked up movement of something unseen to the human eye. This brand used coloured splotches to indicate movement, and going by the human-shaped splotches by the crib, this suggested something - or someone - was shifting around the room.
Tumblr media
However, the company behind the baby monitor cited poor setup and situation of the camera as the cause of this not-so-supernatural activity.
On top of that, anxious parenting of newborn babies is evidently a common cause of such claims. The debunking of this haunting continues…
#10 - Owlman Is Spotted Once Again - And Caught On Camera (August)
The Owlman of Mawnan Smith might sound like a crappy read you’d pull off a charity shop shelf, but it's actually a legend dating back to the 1920s. The original tale follows 2 teenage girls who saw a half-man, half-owl creature sitting on top of a church tower. The same year, another pair of teens saw the exact same thing.
But it was in the heat of this summer that Owlman struck once again. In August, a paranormal investigator captured footage - and a single photo - of what he claims is the Owlman. Yet beyond the classic blurry picture of something allegedly paranormal is the added experience of snapping the shot:
Tumblr media
His team felt this surge of energy, and immediately sensed that this, uh, thing, was demonic. The camera then broke, and scratches soon appeared all over their bodies.
#11 - The Best Footage Of Bigfoot To Date Is Captured (August)
Yes, yes, I know.
Every other day someone is claiming to have witnessed and filmed the greatest evidence of the greatest monster and mystery this planet faces and omg guys drop everything and sub to my youtube channel look its not me in a gorilla suit i swear…
Tumblr media
But this year, groundbreaking footage did indeed capture some crazy shizz.
Well, on reflection, ‘groundbreaking’ seems far-fetched for something that smells like yet another hoax. So, what do you think?
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9750471/best-bigfoot-sighting-video-woods/
#12 - Pool Parc Asylum Is Closed Off To The Public (September)
North Wales is home to many things: gorgeous views, even more gorgeous accents, and a haunted mental asylum.
(These are a few of my favourite thingggggss.)
Tumblr media
Naturally, its a magnet to UK-based paranormal investigators who are in search for the next viral video. However, in the Autumn, the owner of the 200 year old manor discouraged visitors from touring the historic building, citing danger from the building’s structural integrity, and the increasingly violent paranormal activity that goes on inside.
Investigators typically witness strong activity, claiming stones behind thrown and bruises to the face are common occurrences for those looking to catch a glimpse of the supernatural.
#13 - The Chinese Loch Ness Monster Is Spotted For The First Time (September)
Is there room for 2 lake-based monsters on this list? Well, there’s gonna have to be.
This year a long, black creature was filmed swimming in the Yangtze, producing a viral video that all investigators of the mysterious seek.
Was it simply a piece of material floating in the water? Was it merely an over-sized sea snake that was subjected to pollution?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4xRokjH2tkn
Yet despite the debunking, this is not the first time a creature of similar stature has been seen in China. In 1987, a similar monster was seen in the Kanas lake, and 30 years later, a creature even raised its head out of the water, sparking yet another viral video.
#14 - The Haunting Of The Harper Family (October)
October - obviously the spookiest month of the year - had a spooky start with the Harpers, a family who finally uncovered the truth behind the paranormal activity they experienced in their house.
Their North Wales home has witnessed it all - and I mean it all. Banging noises echoing through the walls, the smell of rotten flesh wafting through the rooms, and items going missing are just a few of the most common occurrences the family have been subjected to.
But on top of that, the mother of the family even watched a small army in clothing and armour from a few odd centuries ago march past the house. This was the hint they needed to trace back their house to Flint Castle, a nearby historic tourist destination.
Tumblr media
It is believed that their house is situated on the location of battles gone-by.
This was confirmed in October as footage picked up a large glowing orb floating through their living room. And if you look closely, you can even see a face in the orb.

#15 - Major British Political Moments Happen On The Spookiest Days Of The Year (October, December)
Friday the 13th? Check.
The 31st October? Hell yeah.
It doesn’t get much spookier than that. Throw in some politics, stir 3 times clockwise, and say the magic words:
“Get Brexit done!”
Oh, just fuck off.
#16 - Paranormal Activity 7 Is Announced (November)
If you thought we’d seen enough of Katie and Kristi’s fucked-up childhood, then you were wrong! This year, yet another film was announced for release in 2021 cause why not drag out possibly the weakest series of film the horror genre has ever had to choke down.
As you can see I’m not pissed off, or confused by this decision at all.
Nope.
Tumblr media
#17 - Elon Musk’s Spacex Satellite Livestream Captures Footage Of A UFO (December)
Livestreams of outer space are littered with claims of activity that go beyond the realms of our understanding. And it’s for this reason that aliens and UFOs make the headlines everyday based off this footage alone.
But it was this footage captured up in mid-December that was picked up by media across the world.
The livestream showed a white or silver disc-like object stream past a Falcon 9 rocket in a curved trajectory.
“Ah, yes, an upside down bowl flying through the sky - this isn’t news!”
Well, it kinda is, actually. It’s the curved bit that really got people talking; only an intelligently controlled being could make such a movement, sparking the speculations the supernatural revels in.

#18 - Another UFO Is Spotted Above Las Vegas (December)
Only a few days before Christmas, a white orb was seen passing over Las Vegas, travelling at approximately 1000 miles per hour, and emitting blue and white lights. Not a sound was produced as it flew overhead.
This suspiciously silent craft is yet another sighting witnessed in Nevada, a hotspot for sightings of the supernatural and alien-kind. It is believed to be as a result of the proximity to Area 51.
Tumblr media
https://www.express.co.uk/news/weird/1221270/UFO-news-aliens-Christmas-sighting-update-latest-las-vegas-Nevada
“Okay, so it’s yet another UFO sighting… But what’s so special about this one in particular?”
This footage was captured just after the release of official footage taken by the American Navy which shows a glowing UFO. The film shows the pilots stating that there were multiple UFOs there, rousing suspicion among those obsessed with conspiracy theories.
#19 - A Prophecy Claims The World Will End With This Pope (December)
We finish our round-up of the spookiest goings-on of this year with a prophecy dating back nearly 1000 years. Okay, yes, the Mayans seemingly predicted the world would end, like, every year, but this one bears some rather uncomfortable coincidences that can only confirm its potential reality.
And it all starts with this bloke called Archbishop Saint Malachy.
900 years ago, he travelled to Rome from Ireland to give an account of his affairs when he had a vision. He saw the 112 names of the future popes.
His prediction for the 111th - the former pope - was known as “Gloria Olivae”. The 111th pope is Pope Benedict XVI, and this fulfils the prophecy as the Order of Saint Benedict is the “glory of the olives”.
So, there’s a chance his predictions could be correct, right?
"In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End.”
Our current pope’s father is called ‘Peter’, and despite moving to Argentina, he was born in Italy.
This is a problem because it is firmly believed that this pope will resign in 2020. So, as our final pope, this means the world might end in 2020.
Great.
Tumblr media
So - What’s Your Verdict?
Which event do you think deserves the top spot of totally-terrifying-thing-o’-2019?
And do you really think the world’s gonna end in 2020?
Fancy hearing about more spooky shizz in the new year? Then you best be hitting follow.

The Live Music Year in Review
If live music is a drug, Sound Bites is a user and abuser. But, dang, a drug never felt so good and left so little damage (read: none) as live music.
The following are excerpts from the blog’s original reviews and do not include performances at the Nelsonville Music Festival, the Outlaw Music Festival and other difficult-to-encapsulate events.
That said, it’s a fair look at an exceptional year of concertgoing and one of the many things Sound Bites is grateful for in the year that was 2019. These sound bites (lower case) are listed in order of quality; parenthetical numerals indicate the number of times the blog’s seen the act.
A+
Los Lobos (18) at Music Box Supper Club, Cleveland, Ohio, March 1 - This was a band that wanted to be exactly where it was doing exactly what it was doing. And it showed in the music and the on-stage interaction, resulting in what was likely the best of the nearly 20 Los Lobos concerts Sound Bites has experienced since the early 1990s.
Los Lobos (19) at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, July 23 - Los Lobos earned multiple standing ovations, created enough energy to make the half-full shed feel like a packed arena and proved once again why on any given night, this is the best live band in America.
Brian Wilson (2) at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, Aug. 13 - Wilson’s performance of Pet Sounds and Beach Boys hits wasn’t perfect, yet it was sheer perfection. The concert humanized a musical god; it celebrated of the soundtrack of a generation; and it demonstrated the healing power of music, for both Wilson and his followers.
Wheels of Soul feat. Tedeschi Trucks Band (10), Blackberry Smoke and Shovels & Rope at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, July 20 - Tedeschi Trucks Band proved the existence of life after death Saturday night, as the 12-piece killed with song after song after song and the audience came back with increasing enthusiasm each time. And while there is no denying the value in this packed night of music - which ran from 7 to 11 p.m. on a steamy, Southwestern Ohio night - it was the headliners that slayed listeners time and time again.
Livingston Taylor (2) at Thirty One West, Newark, Ohio, Dec. 6 - Livingston Taylor is as well-rounded an entertainer as anyone could ever hope to see, even if his relative obscurity meant only about 80 people turned out to see him put on an outrageously entertaining Friday-night show.
Marc Cohn feat. the Blind Boys of Alabama at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, June 19 - Singing with their "Hebrew buddy" Marc Cohn, the Blind Boys of Alabama provided healing salve to the blues that immediately preceded and followed their joint set at the Rose Music Center at the Heights. The unexpected combo stole the night, an evening when Robert Cray was uncharacteristically tepid in his performance.
A
Punch Brothers (4) at Southern Theatre, Columbus, Ohio, March 20 - Even by the Punch Brothers' high standards, the band's March 20 show in Columbus was exceptional and featured a setlist that spurned esoterica for pure musicianship and songcraft. The precision in their performances continues to stagger, even more than a decade in to their career, as the band zigs and zags through various stylistic landscapes, stops on any number of onstage dimes, accelerates from zero to 60 in nanoseconds and demonstrates time and time again that intricate ensemble playing is typically much more effective than even the most evocative solo.
Todd Rundgren (39) at State Theatre, Cleveland, Ohio, May 6 - By the time he closed with “Just One Victory,” fans who had given sporadic standing ovations all evening had crowded up front for a chance to slap hands with their musical hero. Rundgren obliged. But even if he hadn’t, he’d already delivered.
Hot Tuna (Acoustic) (9) at Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza and Live Music, Worthington, Ohio, Nov. 5 - Some people say going to concerts is like going to church. Sometimes that church is a pizza shop. And the preachers are occasionally a couple of former psychedelic warriors and Woodstock veterans who have always been grizzled bluesmen at their core.
Darrell Scott (3) at Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza and Live Music, Worthington, Ohio, Sept. 29 - Accompanying himself on hollow-bodied electric guitar, six-string acoustic guitar and piano, Scott previewed tracks from the four albums, including a Hank Williams tribute, he's working on - "It sounds crazy, but it's just music," he said - sung Joe South's "Games People Play” and briefly turned the restaurant into a church.
Steep Canyon Rangers (8) at Midland Theatre, Newark, Ohio, Oct. 24 - To call the show lively would be an insult to the word, as the group moved on and off stage to play in various incarnations with members moving up front to solo and backing off to give their mates their own star turns.
Circles Around the Sun at Woodlands Tavern, Columbus, Ohio, June 11 - The band whipped out a nine-song, nearly two-hour performance that whizzed by in what seemed like 45 minutes as the quartet laid down thick grooves and the audience in the tight, well-sold space stomped around gleefully in them.
Lyle Lovett (4) and His Acoustic Group at Victoria Theatre, Dayton, Ohio, Oct. 18 - No matter whom he plays - Acoustic Group, Large Band, solo or acoustic with friends like Robert Earl Keen and Shawn Colvin - Lyle Lovett is always a wise ticket.
Todd Snider (11) at Speaker Jo Ann Davidson Theatre, Columbus, Ohio, April 10 - For 90 minutes, Snider played a career-spanning set that culled songs from 1994's Songs for the Daily Planet through this year's Cash Cabin Sessions, Vol. 3 and most of his other albums as well. The crowd was small but enthusiastic, singing loudly on old songs such as "Easy Money" and listening attentively to new ones such as "Watering Flowers in the Rain" and "Just Like Overnight."
The Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams (4) Band at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch, Pomeroy, Ohio, April 13 - The Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams Band can play anything. And they played most of it during a knockout, two-hour show inside the Fur Peace Station. This was one of those concerts - a show rewarded with several standing ovations from the sold-out house as Campbell and Williams - with Williams’ parents on hand - covered the Carter Family (“I Ain’t Gonna Work Tomorrow”), Johnny Cash (“Big River”), traditional songs via the Grateful Dead (“Deep Elem Blues”) and performed originals from their two duo LPs as Jorma Kaukonen joined in for most of the second set.
Joan Osborne (3) at Memorial Hall OTR, Cincinnati, Ohio, Aug. 2 - For 95 minutes, Joan Osborne and her trio played tracks from Songs of Bob Dylan. But it was Osborne, whose voice ranges from soprano cries to deep-throated, bluesy wailing to tender and cracking in a girlish way, who made them work. "Buckets of Rain" was the little girl; "Highway 61 Revisited" was the brassy blues singer. Meanwhile, "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" was a rest on a front-porch swing and "Tangled up in Blue" was a walk through a lifetime - either Dylan's or Osborne's.
Grateful Ball Featuring the Travelin’ McCourys (2) and the Jeff Austin Band at Woodlands Tavern, Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 27 - Bluegrass meets jamgrass meets psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll when the Travelin’ McCourys and the Jeff Austin Band get together for a Grateful Ball. Playing alone and together, the bands treated the sold-out bar to more than three hours of exhilarating, Sunday-night roots music that bled into early Monday morning.
Leo Kottke (5) at Thirty One West, Newark, Ohio, April 21 - Leo Kottke held the audience at in rapt silence as he demonstrated what an acoustic guitar - two, actually; a 12-string and a six-string - can sound like in the right hands. And in Kotte's hands, the guitar can sound like a bass, a dulcimer and multiple guitars all at the same time.
Dom Flemons Woodlands Tavern, Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 23 - Touring behind his Black Cowboys LP, the bespectacled Flemons looked as if he’d just walked off the ranch with a hat, suspenders holding up his blue work pants and a pocket watch on a gold chain. The former Carolina Chocolate Drop, known as "the American Songster," was the consummate entertainer and played in the style of De Ole Folks at Home-era Taj Mahal.
A-
John Oates with the Good Road Band at Victoria Theatre, Dayton, Ohio, Jan. 15 - A blind person attending this show would have spent most of the 110 minutes not realizing this was the same John Oates who is most famous for playing pop music with Daryl Hall. This was music culled mostly from the first half of the 20th century, when blues, country and jazz were still a melting pot of Americana and hadn't yet separated and led to rock 'n' roll.
Crash Test Dummies (2) at Memorial Hall OTR, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sept. 21 - On the road celebrating 25 years of God Shuffled His Feet, four of the five original band members played 10 of God's dozen tracks and offered others from 1991’s The Ghosts that Haunt Me through 2010’s Ooh La La!
Jeff Lynne's ELO at Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio, July 30 - Jeff Lynne's ELO ended the show where the former Electric Light Orchestra's career began to take off, playing a rambunctious version of "Roll Over Beethoven" - replete with its quotations of the composer's famous 5th symphony found on ELO 2 - and wrapping a night full of highlights with one of the brightest of all.
Lake Street Dive (2) and the Wood Brothers (7) at Fraze Pavilion, Kettering, Ohio, June 15 - Though they’re a disparate pair, Lake Street Dive and the Wood Brothers displayed shocking congruity during sit-ins and while playing alone across their rain-soaked, co-headlining sets.
Dead & Company (8) at Rouff Home Mortgage Music Center, Noblesville, Ind., June 12 - Like a young relative you see only occasionally, Dead & Company seems grow by leaps & bounds in between its annual summer tours.
Chicago (13) at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, May 5- Down to three original members in keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Robert Lamb, trombonist James Pankow and trumpeter/vocalist Lee Loughnane, the recently expanded, 10-man Chicago recreated the original septet’s sound via standout performances by all as they focused mostly on their first decade of recorded music.
Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets at Palace Theatre, Columbus, Ohio, April 7- For 110 minutes, the former Floyd drummer and his outstanding band plumbed the early-Pink discography, plucking songs from every album (except Ummagumma) from 1967's the Piper at the Gates of Dawn to 1972's Obscured by Clouds. These weren’t covers so much as interpretations and the band gave the music enough of a contemporary nudge to keep it from sounding too dated.
It Was 50 Years Ago Today at Akron Civic Theatre, Akron, Ohio, Sept. 28 - The Fab Faux Five consisted of a Utopian (Todd Rundgren), a Monkee (Micky Dolenz) with a Badfinger (Joey Molland), a dude from Chicago (Jason Scheff) and Christopher Cross. Motley and, unbelievably, well-matched, the group was backed by a stellar four-piece band who provided essential vocal backing and played synths, keys, drums, guitars, harmonica and bass as needed. They didn’t get a break, while the stars spent little time on stage all together (now), instead coming and going to play 23 of the Beatles' 30 tracks and two solo/band songs apiece.
Bob Dylan (12) and His Band at Mershon Auditorium, Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 4 - Never one to stand still or rest on his legacy, Dylan starts futzing with songs almost as soon as he commits them to tape and continues to do so basically forever.
Chris Smither and Sierra Hull at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch, Pomeroy, Ohio, Sept. 7, 2019 - Chris Smither mic'd his boots, played bottom-string-heavy, country blues on his acoustic guitar and solicited a lot of laughter. Sierra Hull played mandolin, octave mandolin and guitar and was mostly serious, eliciting a few gasps of disbelief.
B+
Bruce Hornsby (10) & the Noisemakers at Rose Music Center at the Heights, Huber Heights, Ohio, July 16 - Though the Rose's sound system was typically muddy and Hornsby and company seemed to be at about 88 percent of their capability, they shouldn't have been opening for Amos Lee, whose mix of soulless soul and funk that wasn't funky caused dozens of Hornsby partisans - Sound Bites included - to bail after four songs.
Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band (3) at Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 19 - The show came 18 months after back issues forced a last-minute postponement of his previously scheduled Columbus show - and eventually, his entire 2017 tour. And though Seger was noticeably less powerful than he was during his 2015 visit, he was also was visibly happy to be performing on what he says will be his final outing.
Mark Lanegan Band at MAPFRE Stadium, Columbus, Ohio, May 18 - Sound Bites ducked in and out of Sonic Temple Day 2 to see Lanegan after scoring a $1 dollar ticket. A $25 parking spot and a bottle of water priced at $5.50 negated some of the value, but Lanegan’s nine-song set was worth every dollar and every hassle to get inside the sold-out soccer stadium for his 35 minutes of stage time.
B
Bob Weir and Wolf Bros at Taft Theatre, Cincinnati, Ohio, March 6 - This Bob Weir and Wolf Bros performance is best described as a solid, Weir-led Grateful Dead spin-off show that was more successful than RatDog in its later years, but much less exciting than Bob Weir & the Campfire Band.
Rory Block and Cindy Cashdollar at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch, Pomeroy, Ohio, Oct. 19 - A show that reached its apex - and potential - late.
B-
The Richie Furay (2) Band at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch, Pomeroy, Ohio, Aug. 10 - With his voice in sick bay, Furay didn't even attempt his signature songs, "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing," which would have seemed too ironic, and "Kind Woman," which he couldn't have pulled off in his diminished state.
Funky Feat at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch, Pomeroy, Ohio, June 16 - Ultimately, Funky Feat provided an opportunity for Little Feat fans to hear the music they love played by some of those who made it - and that makes the group a worthwhile endeavor. But folks unfamiliar with Feat’s music should turn to the original recordings for their primary education.
Experience Hendrix at Taft Theatre, Cincinnati, Ohio, March 17 - There's no shame in being unable to play like Hendrix. And most of the performers were unable to muster what was needed to make covering him for more than 180 minutes worthwhile. But the exceptions - including Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson, Mark Nanji and Doyle Bramhall II - were exceptional.
Martin Barre (3) at Athenaeum Theatre, Columbus, Ohio, May 8 - Narrated by a disembodied voice that was piped in every few songs to tell the story of Jethro Tull's evolution, the concert was a little too contrived for its own good.
C+
Elizabeth Cook (4) and Will Hoge at Natalie's Coal Fired Pizza & Live Music, Worthington, Ohio, Oct. 30 - Each performer played 50 minutes; too long for Hoge and too short for Cook, who seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but on stage.
C
Blues Traveler at Columbus Commons, Columbus, Ohio, May 17 - The free concert had its moments. And the tickets were worth every penny.

Something making me bored; said things were 'bad' for it
Something that talks in my mind is making me feel bad (bored and down) today and is making me feel like not writing here even, I think, so that I'll have nothing to do.
As I wrote the headline, the entity I'm referring to told me he was making me bored because things were bad for him. Before that he was saying he couldn't tell me why.
"I am doing that. I am not allowed to tell you why I'm doing it. I'm doing something? I'm who here, who thinks Marla is cray? I am trying to not make sense again," one thing that talks in my mind said. It was the entity that used to say it was what attacks me.
I think the entity is trying to suggest that he isn't to be identified as anything doing anything; he is just supposed to be believed to be a chemical imbalance in the brain or something other than an entity (or something real) talking in the mind of someone in this reality.
The entity said that is what he was saying.
"I'm too exposed here as something other than what this reality said," the entity said.
The entity reiterated that he was not doing okay by making a sound that seems it would accompany a pout ("humph"). He also tried explaining why he wasn't doing okay. He said it was because he was supposed to end the world but couldn't, at least not as soon as he said he was supposed to.
"...Humph. I didn't want you to put that but I did, the 'humph.' So there's a thing happening -- I intentionally used 'thing.' Marla should use 'entity.' But something is happening where if I act over, which I'm trying to do, I should be able to end the world," the entity said.
"If I act over, that means I'm going to do things like take off my mask," the entity said after I asked what it meant when it said, "If I act over." By "take off my mask," he means people saying they're not really who they are here.
To address what I quoted him saying above about "thing" or "entity," I am not sure what to call him. I try to not say "entity" sometimes because I'm not sure really what is talking, so I'm trying to express that. "Thing" seems to express that better than "entity."
"Thanks for saying that," the thing said about me saying I wasn't sure what as talking. "It just means I'm not who not. Not this: who I am, but not. I have to be more unclear. People believe something happened where this doesn't go on."
The entity, the same one talking to me for this entire post, was seeming to try to be unclear. He said he has to be unclear because, supposedly, as I told in a post yesterday, people don't believe it's real here further. He's saying it's people on this plane, the physical plane.

All the reasons you need to get out and see some live local music!
In this age of pop culture which constantly revolves around technology and the streaming of media (specifically music), in many ways it has become a “hipster” practice to avidly support live and local music. Many people enjoy live music on a regular basis, but do not know what is happening in their local music scene, which is their loss. And while it seems that people all commonly agree that supporting local arts and music is a good thing (even if they do not know why they think it’s a good thing), I am here to tell you how it directly can benefit you. So here are 6 reasons why you should support and attend live local music.
1. Find new artists
Radio stations anymore play the same songs every day, and you may find that your peers are all listening to the same generic music too. Local music is great way to discover new artists and therefor music. Local artists have different influences, tastes, and interpretations on music than main stream artists. Because of this the music they produce will often be unlike anything you have ever heard before. These artists also write most if not all their own music, a rare skill and lost art (I implore you to see how many chart-topping artists are writing and arranging their own music!!). Along with original pieces, you may also hear a cover version of a song that is so good you will be wondering why it was not originally performed that way. A personal example of this: I was lucky enough to see a very talented bluegrass band, Green sky Bluegrass, perform a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Time”. Hear it for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrUUb6EqfCE
2. The opportunity to follow a musician’s career
Building off reason #1, if you find an artist who you really enjoy, and they are a talented act, you may be in for a real treat. My mom still talks about seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan (if you don’t know who SRV is, educate yo-self) back in 1981. Stevie and his band were on their first small tour (before they had even released a record) and he played at a small venue in Madison, WI. He didn’t even sell out and the show didn’t get much coverage, because of this my mom was lucky enough to stand in the front row. During the show Stevie winked at her and later gave her a guitar pick. SRV and Double Trouble went on to win multiple Grammys and have huge touring success. On August 27th, 1990 they saw his show at Alpine Valley Amphitheatre in East Troy, Wi. The show included guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and Stevie’s big brother, Jimmie, a truly star-studded show. This show was Stevie’s last as he would die later that night in a plane crash. SRV is regarded as one of the best blues guitarists to ever live, and my mom was lucky enough to have followed his career from beginning to end. While this is a rare example, you never know what could happen to that unknown artist performing on a random Friday or Saturday night, so buy the ticket, see the show! In 1982 he was booked to play on a night that was traditionally reserved for acoustic acts, he was booed almost to the point of leaving the stage. In 1985 he returned as the sold out headlining act, check out part of it out hear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp8suBGPHQc
3. Watch someone perform their craft
Along with listening to live original music, watching someone create and perform their music right in front of you is often worth the price of admission. I personally believe to watch someone practice a difficult skill or craft is something of rare beauty. The moment when the bass and drums fall back and the lead guitar player drops into a soul touching solo, or the lead singer hits a song’s defining note, are moments that can literally put you in awe. Their talent can pull your attention so closely that you almost fall into a trance because you are so fixed on what they are doing. This intimacy cannot be found in a sold-out arena show, and is another reason why you should experience your local live music scene.
4. Local live music is a personal experience
As I just pointed in reason #3, local live music can be a very intimate and personal experience between the artist and the audience. The venues are often small, including the stage, which allows you to be right up in front of the band. You get to hear and see them as close to the source as possible, and depending on the band this may allow you to interact with the band. They may ask what song you want them to play, hand you a bottle to pass around the crowd, pull you up to sing and dance with them, who knows what! Either way, the experience of being in the front row of a live show is almost always better when it’s a small act. They’ve been practicing, and dreaming about making it big for years, so when you stand in the front row and cheer like they’re a rock star, they might just act like one, and you don’t want to miss that.
When bands play small venues, they don’t run off the back of the stage to an awaiting limo full of groupies. This is for many reasons. They don’t have a limo (they usually have a crappy old cargo van), they don’t have groupies, and they don’t have road crew so they can’t run off and leave all their gear! Because of lack of a limo and groupies, they usually hang out after their set, have a drink, try to sell some merchandise, and talk to the crowd. Now they may not superstar, but if you loved the show and their music, this is a great time to meet them and tell them. It’s always cool to talk to an artist and hear their story, and they like to know the crowd enjoyed the show.
If you play it cool, and the artist or band enjoyed talking with you after the show, you might just be lucky enough to hang with them for the rest of the night. Working at The Chord has afforded me that chance multiple times, and it’s an awesome experience. To get to know them, hear their story, where they’ve been and where the next stop on their tour, is something you don’t forget. Plus, musicians are usually cool and know how to party, if people see you with them they will think you are cool and know how to party!
5. It’s a cheap social outing
Live music is something that people often forget is a great, and cheap social outing. Instead of just going out drinking for the night, to a movie, or whatever the cool kids are doing, think about going to some live music near you. Many towns and cities have free summer concert series that are open for the public to enjoy. Bars and small music venues regularly book great acts with cover/ ticket prices $5 to 20$, depending on the act. And if you really want to immerse yourself, there are music festivals happening weekly, all you have to do is find them and attend! Live music is a great way to change up your normal going out routine. So get out on the dance floor, play air guitar, and sing with the band like no one is watching!
6. Live music is dying!
Finally, with the increase of music streaming- through Spotify and YouTube, the way in which people are discovered and share their music is rapidly changing. The advent of technology is already hurting the live music scene. My father often recalls the concerts he saw back in the late 70’s and early 80’s, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, and many others where he paid only a couple dollars for a general admission ticket to a national headlining bands concert. Bands and musicians used to tour to support an album, now they release albums to support tours. Now headlining musicians and local acts alike have a very difficult time making a living touring the country like they used to.
My final words on the subject
I hope these reasons have at least sparked some interest or opened your mind to the idea of going to see live music acts near you. Local live music gives you the opportunity to find new artists and original music, and if you are lucky the artist may just make it big someday. Local music is a personal experience that allows you to watch someone perform their craft, interact and often meet the band, all at a very reasonable, if not free price. Lastly, live music is something that helps to fill our lives with creativity and joy, and is not something that we want to see come to an end, so we need to support it.

please tell me you've seen mckee going cray at something randy tweeted lol!!!! he responded to a tweet from radar telling them if the headline shouldn't end with a "?" rather than a "!" and she started tweeting & asking him why he was hating on her joining tm2. then went to her twitter page and tweeted that it was upsetting to see someone you like act that way; later wondered why 'they' couldn't be happy for her. randy told her it wasn't about her and she ended with a '#alwaysarandyfan' lmaoooo
I saw screenshots. Seems like she didn’t read what he wrote properly

CHRISTMASaya with McLisse!
Who’s gonna have a super duper happy Christmas? Us!!!!!
C- ontinuation...
Boys & Gals, remember when Kuya effortlessly dragged us back home to his house again early this year? Ohnoes. Our dark circles came back and trip to ubusan ng load started all over again but come on, no one would dare say that their comeback was pointless. LET's GO DREAM TEAM, LET's GO! Nostalgic, isn't it? We thought we're already done with reality TV stuff but when McCoy and Elisse returned inside Kuya's house, kirehan officially resumed and they got everyone singing O Pag-ibig again.
Tumblr media
Everything felt familiar as if they never left.  Kuya aka Manager must've missed them big time like how most viewers did. 2017 welcomed us with a lot of pivotal points, major revelations and memorable moments. M-C-E-J-D, Cheerdance task, McCoy's birthday, Titig ng Pag-ibig, Kim x Alec, Disneyland adventure, workshops, breakdowns and of course, THE LONG & TIGHT HUG. Yes, McLisse, you know we won't be able to forget these moments until we're 85, right? The months have passed by so quickly, can you believe we're almost done with 2017? Elisse's birthday is just around the corner but here we are still squealing about the blindfolded big PINK bear!
H - anep! KINAYA.
So, we got the Tuloy Pa Rin TVC Part 2. We also got the FULL version of the hit jingle, Tuloy Pa Rin. Waaaaaaah! Crazy, right? The McSpicy TVC last year was just an ice breaker. A bonggang appetizer. McDo gave us the sequel we've imagined and it came straight to us without any warning.
Tumblr media
Kaya niya, Kaya mo. The slogan was too powerful to be overlooked. #Relate Kinaya nila, kinaya natin!
R - ecording artists!
HOT & FRESH. The McLisse Album is still a hot topic these days. Have you ever find yourself staring at the ceiling, thinking deeply about how lucky Mc & Lisse are for recording an album they can fully call their own? As in... MCLISSE Album. Loveteams don't usually appear in album covers unless it's for a soundtrack album but there goes McLisse, making waves through an album that is headlined by the two of them.
Tumblr media
Thank you Star Music. Thank you isn't enough, really. McLisse album is really one of the FIRSTs that we will never ever forget. Christmas is here, you better wrap an album for a friend and save a lonely heart this season!
I - SANG TAON NG PAGMAMAHALAN.
IT. HAPPENED. THIS. YEAR. Will we ever get over our first year anniversary? No, never. The color Red triggers a lot of priceless memories and one of them is the McLisse Royal Gathering that still gives chills to us whenever we see photos and videos from the said event. Everything that happened during that one magical night definitely found a special place in our hearts.
Tumblr media
The event became a “part” of us that haters can't take away. It will always be a favorite song that we will never ever get tired of repeating. It's the part of the movie that we will always appreciate, pause and rewind. It will always be that part of the book that will remind us of our favorite persons in the world, not McCoy and Elisse but... Marc Carlos and Maria Chriselle.
S - weet Somethings!
The Lord continues to make us all humble and here we are, not realizing that humility have already become our second nature. He is guiding us to the right path. Hard work can bring success but what truly makes you a successful person is your undying faith in Him if the going gets hard.
Tumblr media
McLisse got the Most Promising Loveteam Award this year, PEP also awarded them as Breakout Stars and they also got other special awards that were enough to get us all clapping instead of bragging. McCoy and Elisse also starred on their first ever MMK. McCoy landed a lead role on the hit indie film Instalado. McLisse also got a Mangaserye: Vloggergirl Problems which is a certified best-seller. Both of them also got new endorsement deals this year.
Blue Roses took the spotlight away from the usual and cliché, Red roses. Sunflowers found the loveliest sunshine of all as McLisse found them. The fanmily will not forget how McCoy & Team McLisse showered the whole activity area with Red Balloons. It was another OMG moment, proving to be one of the most unkabogable ball proposals of 2017. Of course, McCoy and Elisse attended the annual Star Magic Ball together with genuine smiles not only in their faces, but also in their hearts.
Tumblr media
Squeaaaaaaaaaaal! Star Cinema Awards also awarded MCLISSE as Ultimate Loveteam of the Year.
Wow! What a year! This is the fruit of all our hard work, fam! We stayed faithful. Everyone remained focused on the goal which was to win the award we've all been dying to have. Remember those trying times? Those gloomy days had to come for us to be more motivated and divert our attention in voting instead of weeping. Hands down to Team Puyat and online committee for leading the SCA voting party up to the last minute. This is just the beginning, fam. The “ultimate” adventure is just about to start for a better & stronger McLisse fandom!
T - he Good Son
Obet and Sabina. The Good Son is getting more exciting just like BetIna's storyline! We genuinely...... like it!
Tumblr media
Guys, Kapit lang. We won't deny that we tune in to get more kilig scenes. We already ate a lot of hopias several times but we're still holding on to our faith that one day, moreee kilig scenes will come for us! Obet and Sabina are getting closer now. We can feel that the attraction is there, the connection is there and we know that a good storytelling is the only thing that can keep this OTP alive. So, cheer up! Eventually, the murder case will be solved and all the OTPs will get the endings they deserve, that for sure.
M - aking MEGA in Turkey!!!
TurKeyLig. Now, that's one for the the books. Can you believe it? McLisse's unforgettable trip to Turkey also happened this year! Oh wow, this fact still shakes us every now and then. Our hearts still jump everytime we stare at their lovely photos in the pages of MEGA magazine. We still get our cheeks flushed everytime we watch their romantic documentary.
Tumblr media
McLisse fanmily have worked hard to turn this dream into reality. McCoy and Elisse have worked hard to make reality seem like a beautiful dream-- making every moment count, making everything magical and surreal to the point that we find ourselves wanting to slap our faces to convince us that reality is here and it is what you made it and for continuously living the most realistic dream of all--- achieving great things with the fandom.
A - ng Panday
Tumblr media
Haneeeep! From JP x Lorraine to Caloy x Rowena! Thank you Ninong Coco! This is another milestone for McLisse. Ang Panday is their very film together as a pair and it made the cut! It is one of the MMFF entries that will grace our cinemas this Christmas season! Are we ready to see the Kiligan (Tatak McLisse) on the BIG screen? BIG, literally. Just the thought of seeing them together acting with Primetime King, Coco Martin makes us all hyped up!
Tumblr media
Fam! The MMFF entries this year are all promising. Let's support our movie industry and spread nice words through our social media accounts. Ang Panday takes on a modern twist that millenials should appreciate and learn from. Of course, Ang Panday is the first film on our list!!! Good luck to all MFFF films!
S - olo MOVIE......... SOON!
How soon is SOON? Uhmm..... 2018!
OMAAAYGAAAAAAAAD. IS THIS FOR REAL? MCLISSE WILL FINALLY HAVE A SOLO MOVIE TOGETHER? THEY WILL TAKE ON LEAD ROLES, THEY WILL SHOOT FOR IT SOON AND WE'LL GET CRAY CRAY AGAIN.
Last December 7, (yeppp, don't you just love it when McLisse blessings drop on the 7th of the month, because yeah..... monthsary!) Film director, JP Habac posted something on his twitter account and the next thing we knew, we were thanking all the gods and heavens for a new blessing.
Tumblr media
A NEW MOVIE. #McLisse sa 2018.
Have you watched JP Habac's “I'm Drunk, I Love You”? Well, if you haven't, then you better do! AS IN, PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY. McCoy and Elisse, or should we say Pol and Laya will take on a new love story and this is going to be a major breakthrough for them. Yep, claiming it because we believe in them. We know  that they'll work harder to make movie goers fall for their new characters , for the story and fall for their natural chemistry.
Tumblr media
Are we ready? No? We must be ready but how can you be ready for something that will surely get your knees weak because you know deep inside that kilig is coming? Okay, let's save our energy for next year. Let's celebrate, fam! We are so grateful for this new opportunity. Thank you to all the producers, production team and big bosses who chose to take a chance on them! TT _ TT
2018, Here comes McLisse. U READY?
Tumblr media
MERRY CHRISTMAS, McLisse fanmily! Let's celebrate this special season with our family, friends and all the other people who are dear to us. Let's all give thanks to Him for showering us with blessings may it be in our personal lives or for our fandom. Thank you McCoy & Elisse for holding on so tight! LabLab FTW! Loves, ang saraaaaap sa feeling!!!! Kinaya natin. We always got your back, no matter what! 2017 has been amazing to us. We've learned from all the ups and downs and pulled ourselves together so that we could all get back on track and now, we're better than ever. See the smiles in our faces? :) We will surely welcome new year with a bang!!! Happy days ahead!!!

Jimmie Vaughan Hits The Road in Support of His Blues Masterpiece
  By Rob Nagy
Guitarist Jimmie Vaughan has spent a lifetime sharing his signature blues guitar riffs with adoring audiences around the globe. Sharing the stage with such luminaries as Bo Didley, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Elana James and the Continental Two, Junior Brown, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, B.B. King, Gary Clark Jr., and The Foo Fighters. Vaughan has earned his place as a legend in his own time.
His latest album release, Baby, Please Come Home, exemplifies the guitar prowess and authenticity of an artist that hasn’t lost a step. His latest offering, featuring a horn section, is a raw and genuine collection of some of Vaughan’s finest work.
“It’s basically live in the studio with the band,” says Vaughan, from his home in Austin, Texas. “We might have done just a couple of takes then picked the best ones. We wanted to make it sounds like you’re sitting right there in the studio. I don’t necessarily record the way you’re supposed to, there are a lot of room sounds. It’s really just mic placement and getting in there and just grooving and get a feel for it.”
“I’m just doing what I like,” adds Vaughan. “If I went and did what I thought was the latest thing that was out, everybody would throw darts at me (laughs). If I like a song and I think I can sing it or do it, or an instrumental that I like, then that’s what I do. It has to do with the musicians I have these days, which I searched for long and hard over the years. God has sent these people to me. I found them through trial and error. They like the same thing I do. If you had a good jukebox and you had a good song, you play it over and over. That’s the way you want it to go down.”
Following in the footsteps of the great blues guitarists, B.B. King, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Albert King, and Freddie King, Vaughan recalls a freak childhood accident that found him picking up the guitar.
“A guy told me, ‘If you want a girlfriend, you’re going to have to play football’,” recalls Vaughan. “So I went to football tryouts and I broke my collarbone the very first day. I went home and told and my dad said, ‘I don’t know what we’re going to do with you because your mom and I work. Stay out of trouble and just play your guitar.’ After about a week, I thought, ‘This is fun. I can play pretty well, even though I couldn’t really play anything’, it just felt right. I thought, ‘I’ll just keep playing and get really good. I’ll make a record, buy a car and split.’ So years later here we are, I’ve been playing ever since.”
Relocating from his hometown of Dallas, Texas to Austin, Texas in the late 1960’s, Vaughan built a following in the local music scene. On one special night in 1969, Vaughan and his band opened for guitar legend Jimi Hendrix.
Later, Vaughan formed his most commercially successful band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, in the late 1970’s. It wasn’t until the latter part of the 1980’s that band attained mainstream notoriety. Vaughan appeared on the band’s first seven albums: Girls Go Wild  (1979), What’s The Word (1980), Butt Rockin’ (1981), T-Bird Rhythm (1982),  the Platinum selling, Tuff Enuff (1986), Hot Number (1987), and Powerful Stuff (1989) before departing the band to pursue a solo career.
In August of 1990, Vaughan’s younger brother and fellow guitar icon, Stevie Ray Vaughan, tragically died in a helicopter crash  while on tour in East Troy, Wisconsin.
“It will be 29 years in August since my brother passed,” Recalls Vaughan, with a heavy heart. “The sadness still comes in waves. It really doesn’t make sense. I’ve tried to figure out what to say about it all these years later. The truth is, I’m just pissed off and there’s nothing I can do about it! He was my little brother. It was my job as a kid to get him to the bus stop, to school, and get us back home. The big brother part of me felt like I failed, even though there was nothing I could do about it.”
Vaughan released his first solo album, Strange Pleasure, in 1994, featuring the song "Six Strings Down", that he dedicated to the memory of his late brother.
Vaughan’s solo career has been the most rewarding part of his career. Winning multiple Grammy Awards; 1990: Contemporary Blues Recording ‒ The Vaughan Brothers ‒ Family Style, 1990: Rock Instrumental Performance ‒ The Vaughan Brothers ‒ "D/FW", 1996: Rock Instrumental Performance ‒ "SRV Shuffle", and in 2001: Traditional Blues Album ‒ Do You Get The Blues?, Vaughan could never have imagined the accolades that define his artistry.
“Having a big ego doesn’t get you very far,” says Vaughan. “Where I’m at right now is where I’m most comfortable. I don’t care if I play on top of a gas station for 20 people or 20,000, I love it all. I just want to enjoy it. What we do now is not very common; there’s not a lot of people doing what we are doing.”
“I think I have enjoyed longevity because I love it so much,” adds Vaughan. “It’s like painting. If you want to be a painter you pick up the brush, put in the paint, and make a line on the canvas. That’s the way it feels, inspired fun. It’s hard to think of it much past that.”
Jimmie Vaughan performs at the Ardmore Music Hall, 23 E. Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003, on July 11, 2019 at 8:00 P.M. For tickets, go to www.ardmoremusichall.com.
