Seeing all the publicity for Darren and Evan Rachel Wood in Little Shop of Horrors brings back a fun memory. In September 2022, not quite a year and a half ago, I took this photo while my friend and I stood in line for a matinee performance of Little Shop starring Lena Hall as Audrey. She was fabulous! What a double bill THAT would be if she and Darren performed together! They've done it before, as Yitzhak and Hedwig during the national tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in California in 2016.
Ah, well! I'm sure Evan Rachel Wood will be great!

Hedwig and the Angry Inch
1st national tour @ the Golden Gate, SF
*absolutely* did not realize what this was about when I asked a work friend to go with me lmao. was not ready for it to be quite that queer. this is the tour with Darren Criss, and I almost swapped to a night that he was playing Hedwig (bc my tickets were a night that Lena Hall (usually Yitzhak) was playing Hedwig). but a friend said it was rare to be able to see a woman play Hedwig and I should keep that night.
it was incredible, Lena Hall did a fantastic job. (apparently she also won a tony for playing Yitzhak on broadway?)

Are you staying home from work/school? Sort of. I do several things part time throughout the year, and a bunch of that stuff (like summer camps/programs etc) got completely cancelled. Some things filled the gaps, but overall it was a lot more like being fired for the year. 🙈 And we're still not quite back, with that, particularly with an international summer gig I was expecting which is Also not gonna happen this year too. 🙈 (In this case the frustration is because I absolutely understand and agree with why it's not going down, but we're literally also seeing a resurgence of the troubles in Belfast, which is exactly what the fuck we said was going to happen after Brexit, and one of the programs I work with is involved in attempting to deescalate sectarian tensions between youth, etc, so like, this would be a great time to be planning that for this summer... Siiiiiiigh)
If you’re staying home, who is with you? Mostly my brother and I, three big dogs, and an inappropriate number of plants. Several new gardens have developed in the backyard and I'm pretending I don't know how that happened. XD
Are you a homebody? Yup. I mean, I definitely used to get out for non-work-related reasons far more than I do, but yeah. Could be a lot worse. Definitely I haven't minded the bulk of the not-going-places.
An event you were looking forward to that got cancelled? Summer employment. But also, my very close friends and I were planning a road trip and a week of hanging out in an Airbnb with a trip to a Renaissance festival we've never been to before in the middle, towards the end of last summer, which obviously did not end up happening, both because the festival itself wisely decided to shut down, and because, without vaccination yet at that time, we knew it was unsafe to be in a car together for 12 hours, even if we could have done a reasonable job of keeping ourselves safe from Other people once we were where we were going.
What movies have you watched recently? Hm. I don't watch a lot of movies, but I did watch the live stream of the taping of the 2012 UK arena tour for Jesus Christ Superstar, which is quite possibly my favorite run on that musical. Delightful. Also I think I watched Muppet treasure Island the other day. Also delightful. XD very nostalgic. XD
What shows are you watching? SGA with some excellent folks on discord. MASH and sometimes Naruto in my downtime when I just need something to fill the silence or kill a little time. Oh, sort of The Hexer with @badwolfbadwolf which I expect we will get back to when there is a little more time this summer. Also the occasional episode rewatch for Teen Wolf so I can chat with @ligeiasand about them. XD 💚💚💯💯💯💯
What music are you listening to? Last week was a lot of Jesus Christ Superstar. XD this week has been The decemberists and the Longest Johns. And of course the Amazing Devil is never far away, nor is Laura Jane Grace and Against Me. 💚💯💯💯
What are you reading? just finished Andrew Seidel's the Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism is Un-American, which was good, if obviously written by a lawyer. XD he gets into discussions about the degree to which Christianity did or did not influence the foundations of American government (spoiler: it didn't, except as an example of the way they did Not want to run their government), and also the ways that the myth or lie that this is or should be an explicitly Christian Nation have been constructed over the years and decades in moments where leaders and politicians saw an opportunity to encode their private believes into public structure, and finally how all that fed into the last guy's presidency over here, and eventually the insurrection on January 6th. I'm about to start either These Divided Shores by Sarah Raasch (I had mixed feelings on the first one but I'm hoping the second one will improve on it) or The Black Prism by Brent Weeks.
What are you doing for self-care? brushing dogs, being up to my elbows in dirt, playing Pokemon go. XD
Thanks friend! I tag Wolfie and ligeia of course, and also @hedwig-dordt @kylo-thecrybaby @lyriumwolf and to anyone else who sees this and wants to do it, consider yourself tagged!

Musicals Ranked On What Percent of the Cast Album is On My Spotify Top 100
So fun fact about me: I pretty much only listen to musicals. And as a result, my entire Spotify Top 100 is musicals. I also tend to listen to musicals on repeat, so there are only 13 shows on this list. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to see how much of each show was on my playlist, so I compared the number of songs from each show on the list and compared it against the number of songs on the cast albums, then I found the percent. Here’s the results.
13. Matilda (1/26, 4%)
I’m kind of shocked that there aren’t more Matilda songs on this playlist, considering that I would have been in it in April. And yet, only one song ended up on my playlist.
12. Something Rotten (1/18, 6%)
I love Something Rotten a lot, but I don’t listen to it all that often. I actually have a poster signed by the touring cast hanging up in my room at my mom’s house.
11. Hedwig and the Angry Inch (1/14, 7%)
This is one that people on Tumblr might not have heard of as much. It’s an absolutely fantastic show that’s staged as a concert and it’s incredible and I love it. Shockingly, my favorite song from this show was not on this playlist.
10. Frankenstein (2/26, 8%)
I think most people don’t know that there’s a Frankenstein musical. This one is shockingly accurate to the book, which I loved. Something you may not know about me is that I really love the book, it’s just so interesting. This musical even included the letters, which was super cool to see.
9. Groundhog Day (2/19, 21%)
Groundhog Day is one of my favorite shows that ended too soon. It closed on Broadway too early, and then the national tour was cancelled. Even without the pandemic, I don’t think you’d be able to find a production of Groundhog Day that you could watch live.
8. The Lightning Thief (5/24, 21%)
I actually only listened to this for the first time a few months ago, but I think Spotify might put more weight on the later months. I’m pretty surprised that so many songs ended up on here, considering I only listened to the full album a few times.
7. Billy Elliot (4/15, 27%)
I watched the proshot of this back in April or May, and I did not expect to like it as much as I did. When I saw Angry Dance I knew that I had to see this in person at some point. Obviously, I haven’t gotten a chance to see it yet, but hopefully one day I can. Anyway, every time I listen to Once We Were Kings I tear up a bit.
6. Trail to Oregon (5/17, 29%)
And here’s Starkid everybody! I haven’t actually listen to TtO in awhile, but for a while I would listen to it as I fell asleep. I didn’t listen to the full soundtrack during that time, I actually made a playlist with only the songs that I enjoyed listening to.
5. Starship (4/9, 44%)
Okay, so maybe this show is so high on the list because there’s only nine songs, but I still really like this show. I wish there was sheet music for it because I’d love to learn how to sing Life or Status Quo.
4. Apocalyptour (13/22, 59%)
Okay, so technically not a musical. But, it is entirely composed of musical songs, so I say that it counts. I really like listening to the medleys on this album, and it’s fun to hear some different people sing Starkid songs.
3. Hadestown (28/40, 70%)
Yeah. Over 25% of the playlist was Hadestown. All five of my top songs were from Hadestown. My five top artists were all people from Hadestown. According to Spotify I listened to this for a total of 933 minutes. No, I don’t know how I did that. I guess I listened to it on repeat a lot.
2. Tuck Everlasting (18/24, 75%)
Another show that closed far too soon. It’s so good, and I love it, and it’s extremely underrated and underappreciated. I love the album so much. I listen to Time and I cry. I listen to Time Quartet and I cry. I listen to The Wheel and I cry.
1. Moulin Rouge (16/19, 84%)
So I know this one can be kind of controversial because some people thought that it got too modern when they put it on stage. I, however, love it. Shut Up and Raise Your Glass slaps. Crazy Rolling also slaps. I love Come What May so much. Plus, Karen Olivo is Satine, and she’s my favorite actress, so I was doomed to fall in love with this show.
So I also wanted to share exactly what songs are on the playlist, so I’m putting it under the cut. Get ready for a lot of Hadestown. For everyone who doesn’t know Starkid, I apologize for the titles of the songs in Apocalyptour. I did not name them.

Meet the Cast of AMERICAN BUFFALO; Beginning Previews on Broadway Tonight
American Buffalo officially begins performances tonight, March 22, at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Opening night is set for April 14.
Emmy & Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburne, Academy Award & Golden Globe winner Sam Rockwell and Emmy Award & Golden Globe winner Darren Criss will star in the Broadway revival David Mamet's classic about loyalty and greed, under the direction of Neil Pepe.
American Buffalo returns to Broadway more explosive and pointed than ever, exposing a timely American truth: the hustle and the con are two sides of the same coin.
Meet the cast below!
-----
Darren Criss (Bobby)
Emmy and Golden Globe winner Darren Criss is a multi-faceted artist with a career spanning stage, television, film, and music. He was most recently seen on Broadway as Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which kicked off the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival's national tour. The New York Times called Criss "mesmerizing" when he first stepped into the title role on Broadway in 2015. Criss made his Broadway debut in 2012 as J. Pierrepont Finch in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Criss is also the founder of New York City's first music festival celebrating the songs of stage and screen, Elsie Fest, which recently celebrated its fifth year. On television, Criss' portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in Ryan Murphy's award-winning series "American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace" was met with widespread critical acclaim, earning him a Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors' Guild Award and Critics' Choice Award. Criss made television history for being the first Filipino-American to win an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award. It has also earned him acting nods from the Television Critics Association Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards and People's Choice Awards. His performance was deemed by critics as "electrifying," "compelling" and "career-changing." Last year, Criss starred as Lieutenant Commander Eugene Lindsey alongside Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore in the Roland Emmerich-directed World War II film Midway. He recently wrapped production on musical comedy series "Royalties," which he created, starred in, executive produced, and wrote songs for. It will be released in early 2020 on Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman's shortform video platform Quibi. Criss is currently in production on Netflix's "Hollywood," where he rejoins Ryan Murphy as the star and executive producer of the limited series set to stream in May 2020. He rose to subcultural fame with his contribution to the YouTube cult hit, "A Very Potter Musical," which led to the co-founding of musical comedy group sensation StarKid.

Darren Criss On Stage - Theater Credits, Bio and Tickets
Tumblr media
Darren Criss is set to star in American Buffalo at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway from March 24 through July 12, 2020.
Darren Everett Criss was born on February 5, 1987 in San Francisco, California. He is a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actor and singer-songwriter, perhaps best known for his TV roles as Blaine Anderson on Fox’s hit musical series “Glee” and as Andrew Cunanan in FX’s “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.”
Criss attended Stuart Hall for Boys and Saint Ignatius College Preparatory (graduating in 2005) in San Francisco and he went on to study at the University of Michigan. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2009, majoring in Theater Performance and minoring in Italian and Musicology.
Criss began his career on the stage in the San Francisco area, appearing in regional productions for 42nd Street Moon and the American Conservatory Theater, among others. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he co-founded a musical theater company by the name of StarKid Productions with a few of his classmates and enjoyed particular success with their productions of A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel, and A Very Potter Senior Year (based on the Harry Potter novels), as well as Me and My Dick.
Criss made his Broadway debut as J. Pierrepont Finch in the musical comedy How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in January 2012. He would return to the Great White Way to assume the titular role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Belasco Theatre from April through July 2015 and would reprise the role in the San Francisco and Los Angeles engagements of the production’s National Tour in October and November of 2016.
In addition, Criss is also credited as a co-founder of Elsie Fest, New York City’s annual outdoor music festival dedicated to show tunes, which has been in existence since 2015.
In television, following his role as Josh Burton on ABC’s “Eastwick,” Criss shot to global stardom after landing the role of Blaine Anderson in Fox’s smash hit musical series “Glee.” He would star in a total of 90 episodes from 2010 through 2015 and he even earned his first Emmy Award nomination for ‘Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics’ in 2015 for penning the original song “This Time” for the series finale.
Aside from his work on “Glee,” Criss earned great critical acclaim in 2018 for his performance as serial killer Andrew Cunanan in the second season of the anthology series “American Crime Story” (subtitled 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace') on FX, winning both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Television Movie.’
He made his feature film debut in 2012’s “Girl Most Likely” and other notable television credits include the role of Music Meister on The CW’s “Supergirl” and “The Flash” (2017), Justin in FX’s “American Horror Story” (2015), and Toby Phillips in the web series “Little White Lie” (2009). He has also worked extensively in voiceover, including the roles of Raphael in “Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (2019), Sideswipe in “Transformers: Robots in Disguise” (2014-17), Sutemaru in “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya” (2013), and Katayama in “The Wind Rises” (2013).
Criss returns to Broadway to star opposite Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell in a star-studded revival of David Mamet’s American Buffalo at the Circle in the Square Theatre from March 24 through July 12, 2020.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2022 AT 8 PM A Reading of Dime Forward: A Nickelback Musical Written in 24 Hours Young Ethel’s 506 5th Ave Brooklyn, NY 11215 Leah was so preoccupied with the fact that she could, she didn't stop to think about if she should... but she did. Netflix's Live-Action Cowboy Bebop Show Adds Six More Cast Members
Tumblr media
L-R: Geoff Stults, Tamara Tunie, Hoa Xuande (via Netflix)
Now that COVID-19 safety protocols are in place, production has resumed on Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop series. With things rolling along smoothly again, it's time to find out more of the cast members that will be appearing alongside John Cho's Spike Spiegel and the rest of the main cast.
Among the new cast additions is Geoff Stults as Chalmers, who used to work as a detective with Jet Black in the ISSP's Homicide Division. Now he's dating Jet's ex-wife.

Tamara Tunie (Law & Order) plays Ana, a cool and intense woman who runs Mars' hottest underground jazz club and sort of plays the role of a surrogate mom to Spike. Acting as her right-hand person is Mason Alexander Park (appearances in the national touring company of Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as Gren.

Rachel House (pictured below to the left of Jeff Goldblum in Thor Ragnarok) is Mao, the cunning capo of the Syndicate's White Tigers family.

Rounding out the new additions are Ann Truong (Strikeback!) and Hoa Xuande (Top of the Lake), who play Shin and Lin, respectively. Both are fiercely loyal as the henchmen of Alex Hassell's Vicious, as he aims to take down Spike Spiegel.
