NPC Bdubs: an in-game explanation to why Bdubs didn’t upload his Limited Life pov- Cleo notices that Bdubs is acting a little weird, almost like some kind of non-playable character.

The Coral Kids’ Keeper: Martyn and Scott live out on a island on the sea on the Limited Life server, and a sea creature that calls himself xbcrafted take interest in them. He protects them. He is here to protect them, right? (Dm note: oh my goddd I love this one still I love the horror at the end [I may just be biased to xb tbh lol])

Impulse’s post-death affirmation: Impulse got second place in Limited Life, and Skizz is so proud of him.

Clock Full of Love: Impulse gave Bdubs a clock in the beginning of Limited Life. At the end, Cleo adds her own touch to it.

Grian and Scar’s punishment: It all started when Grian and Scar touched his (Doc’s) redstone (tunnel bore). Their punishment? Zombiecleo scolding them.

Talks of Adoration on the Tower of Team TIES: Etho and Impulse have more in common then they think, and reflect on it all one sleepless night in the Team TIES base

Big and Handsome God Has A Big Sad: the empires s2 server can’t be empty, right? Sure, Joel hasn’t seen anyone in forever, but people still love him, surely, right? They wouldn’t all leave him. They wouldn’t. Right? (Dm note: this idea wasn’t executed as well as I would have liked, but I really like the crumbling reality vibes of this one)

Cuddling with the Homies: Grian, Impulse, Scar, and Skizz playing Sons of the Forest. They get one tiny-ass tent to all sleep in. It’s if the “only one bed” trope was four dudes being idiots in the woods in a tent.

I know how to keep you warm;)): the new life smp folks wonder if Chillager Martyn will freeze up if he gets flustered. Scott is up to the task. It’s all silly.

The CuteGuy Who Stepped Up: Scar needs a CuteGuy sidekick, and Grian does not want to be a sidekick in the slightest. Enter Joe Hills from Nashville, Tennessee. (Dm note: the CuteGuy main character was decided by a poll. This is also my second most-liked fic of 2023)

The Slime Code: Gem is a slime in New Life! She calls Jevin on Hermitcraft to ask about any slime rules she now needs to follow

A Dream of Pink: Joel has a dream of showing a pretty girl with pink hair (who roasts him) his hardcore world builds. She seems familiar…

3rd Life x NightVale: the radio transcript when Cecil Palmer from the town of NightVale interviews a strange man with a red sweater and split knuckles and keeps talking about something that happened in a desert. (Dm note: love this one, definitely caters to a very specific audience, but this one shows up in my notifs almost every day. I think I did a good job at the ad breaks and such.)

Sacrificial Impulse: Grian, Scar, and Skizz died while hunting ghosts with Impulse. Impulse wants to bring them back, no matter the cost. Also, EvilNotion is the ghost hunters’ boss.

xB’s Revenge- a Blood on the Clocktower story: based on the first session of hermitcraft’s BOTC, Iskall accuses xbcrafted of being the demon, and xB becomes the first innocent to die. But xB sticks around after death, and wants the sweetest revenge on Iskall. (Dm note: this one is long as hell but man the concept was so good. Drowned!xb is so good.)

Bdoubledown? How Cute: a brief conversation between Impulse and Skizz about Impulse’s brand new soulmate in Double Life

GIGS gets another G: Gem is jealous that Grian, Impulse, Scar, and Skizz are hunting ghosts, and wants to join in. Pearl, local odd woman, has a way. Possession is fun among friends! (Dm note: this is the most liked fic of this year, which is definitely not what I expected lol)

The Dungeon Is Hungry: Hypno thinks all the superstitions around the Decked Out 2 dungeon are stupid. That is until everything goes sideways and Cub is covered in sculk and pointing a sword at him down in level 4.

The Impossible Task: Martyn gets a very simple, two-word task in Secret Life: find RenTheDog. But Ren isn’t here… right? (Dm note: when I thought of this idea I literally said “ouch!” in my head lol)

GIGGS Hunts a Ghost!: the GIGGS crew gets called on by Zedaph to find and capture evidence of a ghost he claims he has seen haunting hermitcraft. (Dm note: the b-plot grian and zed rivalry is so funny to me idk why I decided they hate each other lolll)

A Moment of Peace: Martyn and Cleo are estranged soulmates in Double Life, and they take a moment to drink some tea and talk about what soulmate they’d like to have if they had a choice.

It Feels Different Now (and that’s a good thing): Pearl has to hurt people on the Secret Life server as part of her task, but she takes no joy in it now. She harkens back to what has changed between Double Life and now.

Jimmy’s Grave: Cleo made Jimmy a grave before he died in Secret Life. He did end up dying that very day, and a mourner comes by his grave when it’s all said and done.

Red: Pearl’s favorite color is red. She is made to be a red name, even when she’s not.

Becoming the Villain of the Server: (secret life) Scar digs up Jimmy’s grave to take his spine, to sell it to Joel, pretending that it’s Lizzie’s. Hey, what else is a man to do? (Dm note: this one fucks so hard, i love how fucked up the idea of it is, what Scar would have to do to make it happen. Eating this.)

From One Lonely Winner to Another: Scar wins Secret Life. Sunflowers grow from his skin to be with him as he goes to succeed the final task. (Dm note: another one I love, I just love the aesthetic of it all.)

I didn't think I would make another post about Dream but here I am. The video didn't need to be an hour plus some for you if you only stuck to the point that REALLY mattered.

The quackity section was and is the only part I will give credit for. Admitting you fucked up and made something public that should not have been is good. You probably should have said sorry to Quackity if hes even speaking to you.

2 no one gave a shit about the gumball situation and the giant section you deicated to it. This about you disproving gr**m allegation and being weird towards fans. The VA is grtting his own punishment.

3 don't bring people into your mess, I.e Philza, Ranboo, Tommy. Not because omg their my blorbos but because they have nothing to fucking do with you defending yourself. I know for a fact from one of Philza on stream he said he told you to get off twitter a long time ago. And im paraphrasing to stop being Chronically online because you don't know how to act. Those "friends" tried to help you before shit popped off like this. Using them weak pillars Especially Philza does nothing but piss those communitys off.

4 no one with a brain cell thinks you and your family being put in danger do to swatting is a good thing. But the people who do the swatting or think it is a good thing. This video isn't going to change their mind.

5 i don't care for dream, I don't like him. I have 0 skin in the game. If the girls he briefy mentioned said nothing weird was happening/are gone now. Thats all anyone can take. At the end of the day Dream needs to stop interacting with his fans like they are his friends. They are not. They are young no matter what you think the analytics show people can lie about their. Thats how all of this shit happened. Grow the fuck up and take responsibility and realize you can't do the same shit that you've been doing for years.

i think there was a comparison of tcf and tged here but atleast in tged og lloyd's parents still notice their son is not their actual son, unlike cale's family who were glad he just simply become non trash (this was the most upsetting when i read here that arcos and marbella noticed but cale's did not or even the butlers), a non family member didn't wish or say that it was great that og lloyd was replaced by someone else even if that someone is more helpful to the county, unlike alberu who was glad that cale got replaced, and another atleast suho plans to tell the truth to lloyd's parents unlike with rok soo to cale's parents who accepted he is cale (but then again og cale did request to accept the body they are in as who they are actually are)

i feel like i got a bunch of spoilers shoved down my throat but i have no context to them so no harm done ajshdksfd

i have no idea how fair it is to compare tged to tcf, they're two different pieces of media with their own themes, plots and characters going on and different people like different things. that's fine. i just personally disliked that people kept comparing my blorbo to their blorbo to make theirs look better. i don't want to the same thing! that's not very nice!

so i'm just gonna talk about what i do know which is the way tged treated og lloyd! i've read a bunch of isekai stories and it's rare the times the og characters are taken into account or even acknowledged so i was pleasantly surprised with how much focus tged put on the fact that suho did take someone's place, he did lie to his family and he did pretend to be someone he wasn't. and he feels genuinely sorry about it. he doesn't justify it by thinking he's better than og lloyd anyway so no harm done. he genuinely wants to apologize and make it right and he wants to do it at the right moment.

and then when the people around him find out the truth, they're not,,, happy about it. they don't think it was for the best or that og lloyd got what he deserved or that they're glad for it.

javier is the closest thing we get to something like that and even then he's genuinely torn about what he should do with the information. he hated og lloyd, absolutely despised the guy's guts, but even then he's not glad that he got replaced even when he acknowledges the new lloyd is hardworking, constructive and reliable. he doesn't know where his loyalties should lie and he's "filled with anguish" as he tries to decide what to do.

it would've been very easy for bk moon to just go "yeah he doesn't care that the son of the family he swore to protect got replaced by a stranger that's been lying to him for years" like, ahem, some other people would have, but instead he took the time to acknowledge that "hey, this is a genuinely fucked up situation, there's no right answer here, anyway you slice it someone will get hurt and the only way to move forward is to minimize the damage and make amends to the people who were hurt".

which is nice to see in an isekai! even tho og lloyd was absolute human garbage the narrative didn't dismiss him as a person and instead acknowledge that while it wasn't lloyd's fault there was still a someone being hurt by the fact he possessed a body that wasn't his.

and then when his parents find out they genuinely mourn the child they lost. there's no happiness, no joy, not even relief at being rid of a constant source of worry and disappointed. they're so... sad and heartbroken about their son being gone. even while they accept lloyd as their kid, even as much as they come to love him, there is no moment where they express any kind of pleasure about him replacing og lloyd. rather you get the sensation that they wish they could've had both of them at the same time, that they wish one hadn't come at the price of the other, that they love both of them so, so much even as different as they are.

the only one who doesn't express any kind of regret or sadness about og lloyd is julian which... honestly, it's very earned. no one should be forced to mourn their abuser, which exactly what og lloyd was to julian. if julian had expressed sadness over og lloyd that would've been his right, but the fact that he never did, at least not on-screen shouldn't be held against him, considering the amount of hurt og lloyd caused him.

so yeah! i really like the way bk moon handled this aspect of the story! again, i don't know how tcf works or what happens on it and at this point i'm not really interested in knowing! i'm sure it did its own thing and that it was great too!

Another self-indulged AU for my blorbos I'm gonna call it clownverse 2:

It's the moment when Light regains his memories and he's sure that he's gonna win and that L is gonna die. And he's almost celebrating his future victory BUT THEN something happens. Maybe they're fighting for the last time and maybe L hits him too hard but at some point Light passes out and-

And then he wakes up to the singing of birds, the sun smiles at him through the window and someone's cuddling against his back. And that someone is L. Light is confused, he has never been that confused in his entire life, maybe not even in that moment when he lost his memories. Is that some kind of a joke, L?, he thinks, Some kind of the investigation method? Another test? They're not even in the Task Force headquarters. The room where Light is has classic, wooden furniture and he can see a garden through the window. He's not even sure they're still in Japan anymore. He's looking for some tricks, trying to be rational in this situation but when L wakes up and says something like "Mornin', love", his eyes grow as big as deer's eyes on the freeway and he's like Ok, what the fuck. "It's not funny, L, you can't use that kind of tricks on me, I'm no longer your suspect in Kira investigation". L puts his thumb to his mouth disoriented. "Kira? Who is Kira? Light, are you feeling alright?"

And Light quickly finds out how difficult his situation really is. He has no Kira powers. He doesn't know Misa here. Above the fireplace in the living room there is a photo of him and L from the holidays in Spain. There are also some photos of people Light doesn't know (he later finds out it's Matt, Mello and Near and there is also a very unfavorable photo of Roger Mello put on the fridge) And Light learns that he has been solving cases with L here for several years now. They met accidentally on a case in Japan and fell in love.

Sachiko calls him almost everyday and asks when her boys will come to some dinner. Sayu texts him about her life and college (and she also sends him multiple photos of Ryuga Hideki and informs him that he’s still very hot). Soichiro tells him that he’s so proud of him even if he still doesn’t understand his choice of partner (p a r t n e r ? Light can’t believe his ears when his dad says this) And he also learns L's real name AND HE CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. He has his name, his trust but he can’t kill him and it drives him insane.

But of course, soon he will learn how it is to fall in love, how to live a peaceful life, how it is to love and be loved, to share the same bed without handcuffs and lack of trust 💖

But all the good things always come to an end and Light is thrown into Kira's investigation again, waking up with a headache, in the cold headquarters and with the thought that Rem would soon kill L and he can let it happen or-

I fully recognize that being sad about losing my blorbos is not like a Real Problem, but I've decided that given the whole Sabra situation I can't in good conscience ever support Marvel again, and every day I remember another character that I'm never gonna get to see again and I get so sad. How are you dealing with it?

Okay fun answer that is like so deeply unserious but like i do think it is practical if you're like me and fandom has been your main hobby and identity for years. and then i'm putting the more political and upsetting answer under the cut because frankly they should be separate posts but I only got the one ask

I've been dealing with it but like forcing another hyper fixation lmao which you know doesn't work for everyone but like hey join me in booster gold and blue beetle brain rot!! It's super easy to not talk about marvel if all i want to talk about is other characters from dc and indie comics. I'm not buying marvel comics anymore because I've gotta save my money to buy the current blue beetle run. I can't post marvel fics right now, I'm working on boostle fics and I'm hoping that if I scream loud enough about them I'll have convinced enough people to read their comics and they'll have 1000 fics on ao3 by the end of the year

To some extent I still think about the characters in marvel that I hold dear, I'm still doing fandom for them through discord and continuing fics and i still reblog art on here. I do this because the cultural capital of those actions are negligible that the marvel brand and disney company really gaining nothing for it and i truly believe that all art needs to be discussed and thought about especially when the creator is problematic and like deeply involved in politics. I'm still thinking and talking about marvel because the space i gave it in my heart and brain never goes away and like quitting cold turkey this thing that's been in my life since i was 8 isn't super attainable. but I'm not doing these fandom behaviors on tiktok because it's a larger platform with no nuance, a younger demographic, and it's designed to sell you things. If I talk about marvel on that platform, aside from making people aware of the boycotts it is giving disney cultural capital and frankly it'll probably convince people to buy from the disney company. Still think deeply about these works because when we stop looking, we give ourselves permission to miss the actual messaging. when we say art has no value, we can't see it's values it portrays and we let too much shit slide.

I've found that the way i've distanced myself most from all my positive fandom feelings for marvel is through becoming more aware of the politics around comics. Getting really deep into the history of comics and the film making process of the mcu movies scratched a fandom itch in my brain, but most importantly I became so deeply and terribly aware of how the modern superhero genre has so deeply lost the plot. I gave a tedx speech about this on my campus and written a few papers about it but like Jack Kirby and Joe Simon made the character of Captain America to plead with their government to stop the oppression and genocide of their people in europe, they received death threats from nazis because they did that, despite the way people view the character as propaganda for the us military, steve rogers was first and foremost two men using fiction to beg for change and for their government to get involved to save lives. And now marvel studios is using the company they started to platform a character that represents the legitimacy of a settler state, marvel studios who is funded in part by the pentagon, who with every new movie results in increased enlistment in the military, is platforming a character that declares the right of israel to exist as it does now with the same tactics and symbols kirby and simon used to create a character that was made to stop genocide. It just makes me sick. It is a complete and total pervasion of who kirby and simon were and what they stood for. I respect their work too much to continue buying from marvel studios in any form and i can't stomach any of the new storylines the comics are telling because this isn't what comics are supposed to be

I think about this spider-man costume that was found in the rumble of a home in Gaza (link to original post) and i think about how these stories connect us, how there was a little boy who need to feel strong and powerful who wanted to be a hero and he was killed for the crime of being born Palestinian but he's no different than any other child i've loved in my life. and this multibillion dollar company funded his death, sanctioned the idea of it through the art they create, and my tax dollars fund every step of it. When I look at Spider-Man, a character who i grew up with, I can feel only grief and rage.

OH hello yes thank you for asking!!! I have several OCs but most of the time I simply Do Not Explain on here; I have lots of ideas and doodles but I make it mostly for myself and don't think to share — doesn't mean I don't want to tho! exhibit A: this absolutely massive post I'm about to make lmao. putting it under a read more bc Oh Boy, the floodgates have been opened

most of my OCs are for two different projects I have: The Visitors and my D&D Dark Star Campaign.

The Visitors is just a lil worldbuilding project I've been chewing on for.... oh wow, over a decade at this point??? I love all the OCs I have in there very very much, but they're definitely never intended to go in an actual story, I just enjoy the speculative biology and character / world building process.

Val is one of my oldest OCs, and she's changed SO MUCH over the years! nowadays, she's a sort of insect/dinosaur mashup alien who uses gravity warping magic and a very large axe to hunt demons. a huge issue for magic users of her species is keeping cool, as magic generates heat and can literally cook you from the inside out, so you'll notice the multiple vent-like spiracles across her body for this purpose. she was born blind and so relies heavily on her best friend, Django, to be her eyes and keep her safe. fortunately, Django has Too Many Eyes. he's a dragon genetically engineered by those in Val's species to be the perfect vessel for storing and releasing massive amounts of mirror-based magic. this kind of magic gives him many abilities, including seeing around corners, creating illusions, or multiplying attacks when applied in different ways, and he acts as Val's seeing-eye dragon. in battle, she likes to get up in the action while he holds back and gives her cues on what's happening, only jumping in himself if she's in major trouble. she's very friendly and excitable, and loves to get into the culture of whatever planet they're visiting, while he's more interested in observing and snooping. there's a lot of espionage and hijinks.

these are some of my most recent sketches of them, tho I'm sure the designs will changes in the future. specific colors don't matter at all, it's all about vibes! not pictured in the halfway colored one is Val's big iridescent black cape thing that has a slit down the middle for her rigid tail, nor her weird arms since I wanted to figure out where the torso vents could go.

Duke is another Visitor who visits planets and solves problems, but his path to get there was a whole lot different! I made him up as a coping mechanism when I was 12, and I'm still very fond of him.

he started life as a human video game speedrunner and modder prodigy. in a "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" situation, a devil (very distinct from demons!) struck a deal with him, challenging his gaming abilities with his soul as the stakes. he won despite the devil's cheating, but that's where the resemblance to the song ends. in this world, a devil winning your soul allows them to fuse with you and gain total control over your body, mind, and actions; but if YOU win, the control is reversed! and like any 14 year old who suddenly has the power to rival minor gods and a chaotic creature living in their head.... he goes off the rails for a while. Val and Django eventually find him and help him cope. his powers include electricity, glitching reality, flailing his glaive around, and being a menace to evil overlords.

you can't see it very well in this picture, but his eyes and the segments between his tail glow lime green! I'm not a fan of drawing clothes, but in my head he's relatively fashionable for a teenager and refuses to wear anything other than black. also, he decided to tell me he was trans a couple years ago, thanks for letting me know buddy 😂

my other project does actually get to see the light of day, if very slowly — I'm running a homebrew D&D campaign for my irl friends called the Dark Star Campaign! none of em use tumblr so WHEEEE I get to post all the spoilers I want! there's a kinda staggering amount of lore behind it and a ton of minor OCs, but the two I rotate in my head the most are Anya the Timekeeper and The Master, aka Armageddon.

Anya the Timekeeper is a chronomancy lich from an alternate universe! she used to help Armageddon travel the multiverse and gain power, but she's decided she's tired of being evil, and now hides in a mansion on a tropical island where she breeds dinosaurs for fun. though she's now very determined to help the party, they'll eventually have to kill her past self to prevent a paradox. her familiar is a little archaeopteryx named Trix who steals hats!

Armageddon is the BBEG and he's SO EVIL and SO MUCH FUN. he's an ancient amethyst dragon who, up until a while before the campaign's beginning, was steadily finding alternate universe versions of himself, killing them, and eating their souls to gain Unlimited Power™. unfortunately, his partner in time (hah) Anya told him to fuck off, so the quest for Unlimited Power™ has been kinda slow lately. fortunately, a D&D campaign started, and he cheated his way into existing at the players' table as The Master! my players can ask to talk to him sometimes, and I'll put on a mask of his head I made specifically for this purpose — very useful for not breaking character when the character is supposed to literally be the one sitting at the table talking to the players. I don't try to hide the fact that he's evil and they all know it, the fun is in giving them little hints and tidbits of lore to munch on. right now he's being very docile and helpful but things will get very very interesting eventually as more of his nature and plan is revealed..... =)

I'm still playing around with what he looks like as The Master, but I really like this recent design I did. his eye glows dark and menacing. I haven't found a design for his dragon form I'm really pleased with yet tho :/

Sappy post finale post, because if everyone can, then so can I 😂

I'm feeling so melancholic now that that first rush is dying just a little (which I will relive another 16 times today as I rewatch the scenes), but this show has been my comfort and constant for 4 years now. And in many ways, those were the hardest 4 years I've had, because the situations forced me to grow and deal with unresolved issues (which is good, but hard). Since ND started, I finished my master's, started my PhD, went through a world pandemic and unemployment, then got a new job, went through therapy and a round of AD, I gained friends and lost friends, and grieved for the relationships I had to cut out of my life. Through all that, Nancy Drew was always this beacon of light for me. A show that was so well written, I could always count on it to put me in a good mood. A show that wasn't scared of not taking itself too seriously, and deliver comedic gold at the perfect timing.

As a matter of fact, my last experience with fandom wasn’t such a pleasant one, and I was busy with life, but also skeptic to get engaged again. I didn't want another negative experience to ruin my comfort show. I see now I was wrong, because this is literally the most welcoming fandom in the world, and I'm looking forward to all the fun we will have now, that these characters, as a friend put it, are ours now. Nobody can touch them now.

But even not actively participating, even just watching and occasionally screaming with you guys on here about these blorbos and their supernatural chaos, it brought me so much joy and excitement. It really helped me get through rough times and I will always look back on it as one of my favorite shows in existence.

So shoutout to @nancy-drews and @thatiranianphantom for allowing me to scream at them about Nace constantly, and thanks to all the Discord people for making me feel the most welcome in the past 24 hours, and thanks to all my ND followers. i absolutely LOVE that thought about zazie being there for vash's darkest moments. i've been going with the idea that zazie is technically omniscient when it comes to stuff happening on gunsmoke but has a limited attention span, but i think they would notice their favorite not-human having a breakdown in the middle of an empty desert. i think also that vash's devouring loneliness would be assuaged, somewhat, by the knowledge that zazie is always there with him in some form or another. if not in their physical form then as the sand beneath his feat and the insects buzzing past and the air in his lungs. zazie's love means he will never be truly alone again.

yet with zazie? with zazie? that can be true. zazie is the planet, zazie is as old as the molten rocks that formed gunsmoke and the first worms that developed consciousness. zazie has no need of him. they were there long before him and will be there long after, and zazie can't be killed in any way that matters. holy shit, that really must be such a relief for vash. for once, he doesn't need to sacrifice himself for the person he loves, doesn't need to bleed for them, doesn't need to do anything for them but exist and love them back. that's insane. it's like having the softest possible place to land, for vash the stampede.

tw blackmail, ""a prank"" (it's not funny, it's cruel), school setting, manipulation, bullying (kind of but not really yet, it's also not a whole group doing it)

Personal notes. This is a story where I will absolutely not lean into realism, not even as much as my other stories. Both because I'm not from the US, I don't have any experience with fraternities, I'm basically coasting by on stuff my US based friends tell me about the education system (but I'm not stressing much about getting it all accurate lmao), I've never studied at an ivy league college (clearly), AND ALSO, MOST IMPORTANTLY, school bullying is a trigger of mine. So if this gets too realistic, I'll end up hurting myself mentally.

Regardless, this is a concept I'd like to explore anyway, and this comes with restrictions. Obviously, there's a bunch of potential when a frat house is involved, right. Like hazing. There'll be none of that here because hazing is like one of my biggest mental no-no's. Any sort of school-based GROUP bullying is off the table (so like, big groups of people ganging up on one person, or even multiple people, or bullying in front of a huge crowd), so keep that in mind as you read, so you won't be disappointed by multiple "missed opportunities". I also won't go into detail on how the blackmail went. It'll mostly be implied.

So now you might be asking, what's it about then? The main focus of this story is one pathetic little guy getting blackmailed and manipulated and eventually kidnapped by another guy. So it's basically just power dynamics, humiliation and hidden in plain sight - aka all the stuff you can read about in my other stories, but this time on a college campus, dressed in preppy clothes.

And the reason I'm writing this long-winded notes section is just to say... please be patient with me. You might think it's dumb that I want to write a story that borders on triggering. But if I'm the one writing, I can explore all the elements I want to, while strategically avoiding my squicks and triggers. It's also to say that if you send prompts for the story, or questions about some of the events, please keep in mind that there's a bigger than usual chance that the reply will be "sorry, I can't do that/sorry, I can't go into more detail". It's absolutely not your responsibility to keep track of my sometimes very unpredictable triggers, so don't stress over sending the ask in the first place! ACTUAL STORY TALK STARTS HERE

SO the premise of this thing I'm doing. I'll share my blorbo notes too, in just a second. But the setting is just this ivy league school where everyone is very smart, very cool, very rich, whatever. And here's the message that inspired the "plot" (I have no idea about actual plot, it might never have actual plot, it might just be a series of hot guy bullying nerdy little guy drabbles) (shoutout to @whumpsday):

What I changed so far is the fact that it's not an outright kidnapping as mentioned here, but a blackmail situation where whumpee can then see his marks falling, and face the humiliation of constantly being berated by professors who don't understand what's going on. And then it just escalates and gets progressively worse and worse, because no one's stepping in, so why should whumper hold back at all?

And I'm naming the story Poisoned Ivy because I'm very funny and witty. Picrew I used for the boys

Bryce Donnelley

Second smartest guy on campus. President of his frat house. Student council treasurer. 20 years old when he decides he’s had enough of being second. He asks a sorority sister friend of his to help ‘prank’ Nate, and eventually gets his hands on some compromising enough material that he feels comfortable starting his blackmail plan. It’s perfect, really; now he can just focus on being cool and friendly, partying throughout the week, while Nate sits in his dorm and does his work for him. Better than his own, of course <3

Bryce is the popular kid. The one with all the friends, all the academic achievements, all the sports trophies. But at the same time, he somehow also manages to be laid back and casual about it. No one ever really sees him study, but he’s there for every single party, with a devilish alcohol tolerance. He’s notorious for making bets with others, and somehow always winning. He’s on good terms with all the teachers, always promising to put in a little more effort, so he could live up to his ‘full potential’. 

He’s not overt about his need for control and dominance. In fact, he’s a very friendly guy! Always cheery and nice, pleasant to talk to, happy to help newcomers and those who are struggling with college life. Even though he’s so good at everything, somehow he stays grounded and humble, and you’d never ever see him bully anyone. Hell, he stands up to the bullies! There’s really no reason to dislike him. He’s very sorry if you find his fraternity brothers obnoxious, he’s trying to reign them in <3

Opinion on Nate: Cute little nerd boy. I wish I could just drag him to a party myself and get him just a little drunk <3 It’d be good for him! He might even make some friends for once in his life. As for the rankings, no, it doesn’t really bother me that he writes better papers and stuff. He’s clearly putting in a lot of effort, it’s admirable :)

Nathaniel Fane

Smartest guy on campus. Avoids frat bros like the plague, given he’s a stereotypical nerd boy, just waiting to be fucking bullied. 20 years old when he gets a suspicious message from one of the prettiest and most popular girls. He has no one to tell him that it’s probably a prank, and his parents are encouraging him to finally go out with a girl, especially if the opportunity just arose like that. Why wouldn’t girls be interested in a driven and hard-working guy like him? So he gives in, and his life suddenly falls apart. 

Nate is the resident smart guy. People don’t avoid him on purpose because of nerd reasons, it’s more the other way around. He feels too awkward to socialise much. He actually gets invited to parties sometimes, but he has never once turned up to one. He’s kind of a teacher’s pet, stemming from the fact that he basically has no other friends aside from the professors who tell him he’s doing a good job. 

He honestly just wants the college experience, but he feels like it’s way too late now. Everyone belongs to a clique now, everyone has their established group of friends, and he’s missed out on too much to try and fit in now. Still, people are friendly towards him, and he’s kind of friendly towards them. Because of his anxiety, he does come off stand-offish and stuck-up sometimes. Even more than that, he does feel like he’s above all this sometimes. Even if it’s just a defence mechanism for loneliness, it bleeds through in his explanations when someone asks him for help. That’s why most people actually go to Bryce. He may only be second best according to the numbers, but he’s sure as hell not subtly condescending the entire time.

Opinion on Bryce: President of the most obnoxious frat house. I can’t imagine how much energy it takes for him to restrain himself outside of it, and to appear even semi-normal. I will never accept an invitation from him until the day that I die. No, I’m not jealous of how many friends he has and how popular he is, and I’m not studying this much just so I can have this one thing I’m better at.

Ok so I saw @flower-seller wanted to hear more about Wander and that really made the desire to be normal about shit and the desire to Infodump about my blorbos go to war with each other so here's this: infodumping but with illustrations. Under a cut bc longgg. The pictures make it longer but just text feels wrong.

(Wander's actual name is Haruko btw, Wander was his codename and also kind of an apt nickname)

Haru learned Alphian Celestican written language from a very young age due to constantly playing in the ruins of Alph unsupervised. The unown were his friends and he spent hours exploring and generally entertaining himself during his time at Violet City Group Home.

This lasted until age 7 when he was adopted, which he was very excited about. What child doesn't want a loving family? His friends were very sad to see him go, but they knew this was important for him.

But not everyone who adopts a kid does it for good reasons. Standing out for being different puts a target on you for different reasons, and some people refuse to believe that children are autonomous little people with their own desires. Haru's first memories were at Celebi's shrine and between that and the Ruins of Alph he very quickly developed an interest in Johto's myths and legends.

Mori, Ayumu was a strict man in his late thirties, and he saw Haruko as more of a pet project than a son. Someone to mold to his own designs, and he had little patience for frivolities like folktales and myths. He collected shiny Pokemon as well as even rarer color mutations (albinism, melanism, piebald), but his crown jewel was a shiny liepard named Kronos.

The 'proper boys haircut' that was forced on Wander was the first of plenty of situations that gave him a serious aversion to touch.

But abuse has a habit of being revealed sooner or later and after three years Haru was returned to the VCGH. He was a lot more withdrawn for a while, and then a series of altercations began.

Bullying has always been a thing children do but it ramped up for Haru when he was adopted and then later returned, and a switch flipped in his brain, leading to a serious aggressive streak. These occurrences only grew more often as he got older and reached the age range that's generally considered hardest to get adopted in. The caretakers at VCGH decided the best course of action would be to transfer him to the Group Home in Olivine City at age 13, three years after he was returned.

He stayed at OCGH for almost two years, but the month before his 15th birthday he ran, which he'd been preparing to do for months. His goal was to get to goldenrod, and figure the rest out then.

Ironically despite having no trainer ID or anything, he does catch a venonat at the national park on the way.

Blueberry is his precious baby, a Tinted Lens + Modest nature venonat that grew attached to him after he fed it. He technically didn't have a PokeBall for her for like two weeks, but it's Johto and people walk with their pokemon out all the time.

Goldenrod is a big city that's easy to get lost in, and even when you stand out like Wander does, nobody is going to bat an eye at another 'trainer' hanging around the underground. Money is hard to come by especially when you aren't a legal trainer, and being functionally homeless for several months made Team Rocket's offer of food, a place to stay, and payment pretty enticing.

His first impression of Lyric was someone aggressively friendly, and pushy. But they very quickly became ride or die together, and they consider each other the sibling they never had. Lyric was honestly the first person Wander honestly gave a damn about, since he felt a pretty strong disconnect with other people.

During the raid on Rocket Headquarters, Wander and Lyric got the younger kids roped into team rocket shit out, but had the misfortune of getting caught on a stairwell by Petrel, and lance caught up to them.

Lance, a person that canonically ordered his Dragonite to use hyperbeam on a human being. Petrel sent out his pokemon, Lance's Dragonite used hyperbeam, and it batted aside the pokemon and kept going.

Wander shoved Lyric out of the line of fire, and it connected and went past his shoulder.

Wander is a person that understands that while pokemon are dangerous, it's their trainers that make things deadly. There's a reason his policy is "if you have a problem with a person, solve it with your own damn hands."

He was slapped with a gag order in return for a lighter sentence and was dragged off to Sinnoh, which set things in motion all the way to his being dragged to Hisui.

23. Unpopular character you love?

MERLIN

And that should be very obvious. 🤣

Listen. I love him. I do. But… I have a few problems with his character now, and that’s because of the writers.

He’s pretty inconsistent sometimes.

For one, his powers. (Or supposed lack thereof?)

He’s described as the most powerful wizard to have ever lived, but he doesn’t… really do anything to show it.

He banished Morgana himself according to Trollhunters, ended the Eternal Night, fought the Arcane Order for a millenia, (all offscreen), was implied to have banished their Titans himself, and was briefly able to put Bellroc and Skrael in chains. That’s… pretty much it.

The discrepancy in his magic is really obvious between Trollhunters and Wizards if you take the time to think about it. For one example, in Trollhunters, he flies when he ends the Eternal Night; in Wizards, he levitates himself on a chest to get himself up to his ship?

For another example, I’ve seen so many people talk about how “weak” he is because he couldn’t make the Amulet or banish Morgana without Douxie’s help. But in Trollhunters, he builds it alone, with Moppet!Douxie only handing him the parts he needed, and he could have used his telekinesis for that. He also banishes Morgana himself, and he thought his magic was gone because of that, not because of Morgana keeping him asleep and stealing it for nine hundred years.

In Wizards, Douxie does most of the work building the Amulet, and he’s the one who banished Morgana because Merlin “couldn’t”.

But those are retcons. There’s literally art of the cave painting where he banishes Morgana in the artbook!

He got nerfed!

He also has powers that seem to only be there for one plot reason, and they’re never mentioned again, as if he, the wizard who is supposed to be the most powerful one of time according to the writers before he showed up onscreen, would forget about them. I can think of at least two: teleportation and freezing time. Teleportation was only used once. Once, a barely noticeable time when he did it in A House Divided to leave Jim alone to think. Not when Galahad’s sacrificing himself, not when Arthur is jumping right towards him, and not when Arthur has him in a chokehold. Freezing time was also only used once! It wasn’t used in literally any situation where it would have been a lifesaver. (Possibly literally.) It wasn’t used when again, Galahad was sacrificing himself, when Jim was slamming the shard in his heart to become, unbeknownst to him, a beast under the Order’s control, when Beast!Jim was holding his son hostage, and when Arthur was, again, jumping right towards him. But it’s used in the next episode after he dies to save Douxie, who I have complicated feelings about. But he’s going to be in another post.

That’s just his powers. Now onto his trauma and how that isn’t shown at all!

He’s already so interesting but he could have been so much MORE.

To sum it up, his apprentice betrays him and indirectly murders his Trollhunters and gloats about it. A very old friend sacrifices himself to buy him time while he’s dealing with his worst enemies being back.

No you know what? I’m pissed about this actually. This, right here, could have been a great thing. This could have been a scene where Merlin quietly admits it, or Nimue, midway through attacking him, realizes his desire/remembers it from him getting Excalibur. And she softens, and he explains why he did it, and he sets her free. It would have shown his motivations a lot more and would have given him a way to shine as the deurotagonist, but no. This quirky asshole who we’ve seen for all of five minutes slams a pillar into her and knocks one of her teeth out when he couldn’t even properly chase down a Mephit! This little bitch empathizes with her and sets her free even after he did that. What does Merlin get? He gets eaten. This badass gets reduced to being comic relief with Steve when instead that could have happened. Just one of the many ways canon in general does him dirty!

For one thing, they made this stupid boy with an accent the protagonist of Wizards, when it would have made far more sense to have Merlin, an already major character, the protagonist. It would have also been more interesting imo but I’m kind of biased. He was also supposed to be the deurotagonist, but that’s more of an informed thing than anything. Grace was surprised when she looked it up on the ToA wiki. He could have so many moments, and this is just one of them.

Then he fucking dies. Arthur gets murdered by one of Merlin’s worst enemies and then they resurrect him as a lackey for who knows how long because the canon timeline sucks And in Wizards, he stabs Merlin in the gut, right through his armor and throws him out a window. He ends dying like a minute later. And just. God. Someone asked the writer I’ve been talking about how that happened, and he was like “Merlin’s armor doesn’t hold up against dark magic that well.” Which doesn’t make any sense. 🙃 HIS ENTIRE TOMB IN TROLLHUNTERS IS ANTI-MAGIC, AND HE LITERALLY ALREADY A VENDETTA AGAINST DARK MAGIC EVEN BEFORE MORGANA BETRAYED HIM. And it’s so annoying when Merlin is portrayed as a weak wizard because he’s the most powerful wizard ever! Canon unfortunately doesn’t really show it BUT HE IS He was the one who defeated the Arcane Order and banished their Titans for a thousand years. He was the one who sealed Nimue in a cave, and he was the creator of the Daylight Amulet. He was the one who fought Morgana and banished her. He was the one who ended the Eternal Night. And in Episode One of Wizards, when he astral projected to that guy, all the streetlights on that street were broken before he even showed himself. But thinking about that made me realize he’s really only powerful when the plot demands it. If the Arcane Order could kill him, they would have when he was fighting them for a millennium. They wouldn’t have killed him by proxy, with a lackey. Especially Skrael, who seems to have a higher vendetta against him than his sibling. And since he can teleport, he should have been to grab Galahad like he will in EE, and he could have teleported out of Arthur’s grip. I also don’t know why his armor isn’t anti-magic when his entire tomb is.

Also HE'S LITERALLY ABLE TO FREEZE TIME IN THE NEXT DAMN EPISODE AND YET HE'S NEVER SHOWN USING IT BEFORE THAT DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE'S A TIME WIZARD AND HIS CENTER OF MAGIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE TIME IT'S JUST STUPID TO ME NOW

And the fact that’s he’s the fucking deurotagonist of Wizards is an informed thing too. And there would been more of his backstory, and more characterization, but it got fucking cut

He could have teleported out of Arthur's grasp, or he could have frozen time before that even happened and gotten them all out of there.

He made the Cradlestone to free the babies, and ended the Eternal Night, but they weren't really dwelled on, making him seem more like a living Deus Ex Machina if anything. In Wizards, he needed another master wizard to help him complete the Amulet.

He can teleport!! He was gone. He breathes fire in some storyboards. l'm not joking.

Before he appeared onscreen, he seemed like a revered figure. He's described as a "wizard that has power" in the art book. in EPISODE ONE.

Trollhunters actually makes him seem more badass compared to Wizards where he got more screen time.

He actually is badass, but he doesn't get to show it except for when the plot needs him to.

He was nerfed and I will not accept otherwise.

Another canon to fanon ToA thing is **MERLIN’S WHOLE PERSONALITY!!!**

He’s constantly made into the worst person ever. A bad dad. An emotionally abusive manipulator. A fucking pedophile.

“Quotes”, “meta”, and “evidence” that he’s a bad person are pulled from thin air. I know I’ve said this before, but I really feel like people are just coming up with reasons to hate him, or they’re purposely making him worse than canon so they can hate him. One time, I saw a fic author ADMIT they were writing Merlin worse than canon on purpose.

It fucking sucks to see him be changed so much. I’m know I’m going to do him justice. I know that I’m writing him in character. I have meta from Aaron, actual, honest to God **quotes**, screencaps, etc. But it still fucking sucks. I put the tag Good Merlin on Emerald Embers, but I’m still nervous that someone in the comments or somewhere else will say he’s out of character.

I am so sick of people demonizing him when Morgana is RIGHT THERE!

And yet those five episodes were enough to cause a whole tag called the Merlin hate train, people wishing violent death upon him or giving him ones, and people who gave even one hint that they liked him harassed off the site.

And most of the reason was because Merlin “manipulated Jim into becoming a half-troll!”

But he didn’t. He sat Jim down and laid out his options: 1. take the potion and win against Gunmar and whoever else he would have to fight, or 2. don’t take the potion and die a brutal, painful death.

Also, kind of off subject, but when Jim turned back to human, there was controversy over whether he should have stayed troll or not!

MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MINDS FANDOM

And the voice acting I showed you? Is from that scene. Merlin is a very, very emotionally constipated person because of all the shit and trauma he’s been through over the course of millenia, and him saying that is essentially baring his soul to a child that he barely even knows.

Does the fandom give a shit about that? No!

Does the fandom give a shit when he said “Leave them alone, Morgana.” referring to both AAARRRGGHH!!! and Angor? The latter of whom was a slave at the time? No!

I hated seeing it, and sometimes I could literally feel my body getting distressed because of it.

But the worst part of seeing this?

They were wishing death on him because of their own fanon versions.

And even if he is written as a good person? He always only cares about Douxie.

His trauma, his sarcasm, his empathy, all go poof. Reddie is one of the few people who knows that he’s a good person, but even she acts like he doesn’t have any empathy at all. Hopefully I’ve demonstrated that he is a very high empath with the above.☝️ Hardly anyone in the fandom™️ appreciates his complexities at all!

No matter what, whether he’s characterized as a good person and/or good dad, or bad person and/or bad dad, all of his complexities are erased. No matter what.

Chapter 211: Ripen—Megumi, on the power of suffering + a bunch of other stuff

Happy JJK Sunday! Gege is a sadistic cat and is going to “punish” Megumi. In case it wasn’t obvious... my favorite mangaka are always sadistic to their creations--I’m looking at you CLAMP’s Okawa Nanase.

So this chapter made me feel like Tomoyo and her adorkable obsession with Sakura...

There’s just something so cathartic about seeing a blorbo be put to the wringer for the sake of character development. And now, my favorite cursed cat is going to pull some machiuvelical, Greek Tragedy, Mexican telenovela style, twist on us. yesssssssssssssss!

I have a nasty migraine so... don’t expect much intelligence underneath the cut. 

Also, did I ever publicly mention that this particular scenario is one of my favorite self-indulgent head canons? You know... Tsumiki turning out to be at the crux of Megumi’s conflict because she’s up to no “good”?

Like just imagine the shock to Megumi’s schema of the world, the pattern interrupt to his logic, but more importantly, his inability to exert his will upon another being’s free will.

I wasn’t going to write anything for this chapter... 

So my plan was to just be a troll and write about the evolution of Megumi’s hair and how it went from this...

to full on epic sea-urchin-headness proportions.

But like... how to bring up the evolution of Megumi’s hair without also addressing the evolution of the art style and how much Gege has improved over the last 5 years?

And it’s not just the art that has improved from an aesthetic perspective, but the way he draws brings the characters to life on a new level. The characters aren’t static 2-dimensional figures on a 2-dimensional surface any longer...

Rather, the characters reflect their character development and multi-dimensionality in that Gege has also improved at showing emotion...

And how characters express their unique and diverse emotional landscape.

Just look at the sheer terror on his face... have we ever seen Megumi drop the poker face and betray his emotional state THIS MUCH?

This is like the worst chapter reaction liveblog I have ever written...

Megumi, on the power of suffering

If you’ve been reading my rambles for a while, then you know Megumi shares the #1 spot for my favorite animanga character with Sumeragi Subaru (who, interestingly enough, shares a lot of interesting similarities with Megumi). 

I LOVE Megumi and I ADORE the way Megumi is written.

Megumi is, true to his name, a bright light in the midst of darkness. His voice, the voice of conscience trying to find its way in the dark. 

If Gege is a genius at writing poetic justice, then Megumi is poetry in action. 

I’ve written before about how he got off “easy” after Shibuya and how that could mean his moment to shine and have his ego brutally destroyed is coming.

IT’s HERE! FINALLY! 

It’s not that I’m excited to see him suffer... it’s that I know that the suffering will be like turning lead into gold. ok yes I want to see him suffer because fck yeah catharsis my beloved!

Whatever the case, however Gege executes, Megumi is about to have another “come to Jesus moment” like or much more impactful than the one he had during The Origin of Obedience arc.

Anyways. Shipping dynamics aside, whether Tsumiki has been corrupted or is a vessel to a sorcerer from the past, the fact that she is turning “against” (for lack of a better word, don’t hate me, no nuance to be found in my brain today I have a damn migraine) Megumi isn’t just Reggie’s curse activating... it’s a reversal on Remi’s situation with Reggie. 

It’s a reversal on Megumi looking down on Remi for her unwillingness to see Reggie for what he was.

What an asshole! I love him your honor!!!

Perhaps even a reversal on Megumi looking down on Remi for becoming Reggie’s puppet?

You know... just following down daddy’s steps...

Regardless of what happens...

33. Do you want to be published some day?

i already have! i’ve had some short stories published and a couple of poems. outside of fic i mostly write literary/contemporary fiction and cyberpunk/speculative fiction.

i would dearly love to have a novel published one day. i’ve been writing a cyberpunk novel about a tech start-up turned sex cult for a couple of years now which has been an exhausting but very fun process that has taught me a lot. whether it’ll ever see the light of day, who knows, but i’d like to hope so.

39. Share a snippet from a WIP

here’s the opening paragraphs of an appalling daniel/lando/oscar threesome i started after the daniel.jpg photos, which i am chipping away at slowly but greatly enjoying:

Vegas, baby. It’s a cesspit. A monument to money: spending it, losing it, making it back, and all the terrible and fun things you can buy with it. Sex, drugs, cocktails strong enough to strip the top layer of skin off your tongue. It’s tacky as all get-out, fake as hell. A pink plastic dildo compared to an honest-to-god flesh and blood fuck. Basically all of humanity’s worst impulses dialled up to 11 and squeezed into 350 square kay-ems. Daniel fucking loves it.

He finishes explaining all this to Lando with a bit of a flourish, and then zips up and goes to wash his hands.

and here’s a little snippet from the next chapter of that one from work can come over on monday night, a scene i wrote almost entirely because i was desperately entertained by the idea of george taking the register with a clipboard at GPDA meetings:

“Alright, Piastri,” he says when he sees Oscar, smiling and standing up to shake his hand. “Good work today. Those upgrades are looking sharp.”

“Yeah, cheers,” Oscar says, sliding into one of the chairs next to Albon, who’s nursing a hot drink in a paper cup and already looks bored. “Perfect way to celebrate, this is.”

Alex gives him a sidelong smile, while George frowns very slightly, eyebrows pinching together like he can’t figure out if Oscar’s joking or having a go.

“Definitely my ideal way to spend a Saturday night,” Alex agrees, taking another sip of whatever’s in his cup and wrinkling his nose. “Christ, can nobody in this place make a decent cup of tea?”

The room is slowly filling up, and George cranes his head to count off the numbers, ticking off names against a register on his clipboard. Oscar stifles a smile.

43. Do you take a sadistic joy in whumping your characters, or are you more the "If you hurt them I would kill everyone and then myself" kind of person?

it depends on your definition of hurt! i definitely take a sadistic joy in hurting them in a kinky way sometimes, but i’m no good at writing full-on angst or even really hurt/comfort. i do tend to put some struggles into my fics, especially the longer ones, because otherwise the plot can drag, but i don’t especially look forward to doing it other than in the sense that it’s a good writing exercise to imagine how the blorbos would react to emotionally tricky situations. this is especially fun with F1 drivers are they are generally emotionally stunted.

it also depends a lot on the character, because some of them (charles, george, jev) are very emotionally intense and prone to self-flagellation which means it’s both canon and satisfying to make them struggle, as in beautiful one day, perfect the next for instance. others, like daniel or oscar or max, are various flavours of repressed and/or not emotionally demonstrative and so it’s interesting for me to think about how they would react — both outwardly and inwardly — to difficult situations, like daniel’s veering between denialism and the odd flash of reluctant maturity in you know how sticky it gets, or oscar’s tendency to compartmentalise and make lando think he’s uninterested in ‘this one from work…’

Let me put your anxieties at ease, this is my preferred way of getting these prompts, one shared pair and one i get to pick bc there’s blorbos brewing in my head

You get academic old man yaoi with Osman and Konstantin

1. What were their first impressions of one another?

I think they met for the first time when they were still starting out. Ihn has always respected Mhairi, and they’ve had a friendly rivalry going on. For many years he wasn’t romantically interested and everything was strictly professional/platonic. He would be lying if he said Mhairi wasn’t a looker tho

They met each other the first time in the academy d’Arcane when Osman was visiting a class and they sat next to each other, they were in their late 20’s. Osman thought Konstantin was intense and Konstantin thought Osman was too loud.

2 .What was their first date like? If they haven’t been on a date yet, how would it go? 

They were old and in a situation of a century ago agreeing to go on a date if they were single still and welp, widowed and tragically broken up with is one way to get there. So they picked a bar, went for drinks and then things might’ve gotten spicy

It was a study date in a cafe which also was the unofficial gathering place of all the city’s cats (the basis for Nia Vasileos in Istanbul so). They bonded over love of coffee, pastries and magic

3. It’s late at night and your characters want food, what do they order/find in the fridge? 

I bet Mhairi has all kinds of fancy stuff like fresh exotic fruits, nuts and the like, i get more ingredient house vibes from her than snack house, and also they’re both loaded so minimal cooking is done. She could also just call up some food. Ihn would rummage through the cabinets and curse not having any snacks handy so almonds it is, or call up some food.

Konstantin is a pretty picky eater, Osman not so much. Konstantin is also the type of guy to prepare meals so if Osman is hungry, one day’s meal might go missing. But they also keep a lot fruits in the house to satisfy most hunger pangs, and also bread

4. What’s a typical Sunday like for them? 

Ihn’s long retired so he does fuck all, naps thruout the day, reads, watches the news etc., grandpa activities Mhairi is welcome to join. He also likes following Mhairi around when she’s doing her thing, sorting out her stuff. Sunday is a lazy day

They’re both insanely busy, Osman serves the palace and the crescent university, and has his own pet projects, so Sunday’s for him is working on his own things like painting and drawing. Konstantin needs to check in on the academy every day but on Sundays he’s like “if something is not on fire right it can wait a day, and if something is on fire you have a building full of mages, figure something out”. So he’s at home chilling with Osman, makes them both afternoon coffee and reads in the same room Osman is painting in.

5. What’s their love language like? Are they compatible with one another? 

Quality time, acts of service for Ihn, third would be physical touch, he knows how the nedians get with touch.

Osman is loud and touchy, Konstantin is more reserved but he also likes physical affection, just somewhere no one can see. Quality time together too, what’s better than two academics having dinner

6. Do they have any pet names/nicknames for eachother? 

“Old [insert thing here]” but like, in a loving way

My beloved, love, etc in their native tongues, (haven’t come up with the regions they’re from but Konstantin is greek-ish and Osman would be arabic)

7. What do they argue about? 

I think their arguments have mostly been about how to handle something

Their most common argument is how the other doesn’t make enough time for the other

8. Who does what chores, and why? 

Hoooousekeeping

Konstantin cooks more, both clean up after each other, Osman handles fixing things and buying necessities

9. What’s the most difficult thing they’ve been through together? 

Ihn being widowed, losing his son and daughter-in-law, losing his granddaughter in a very short span of time. Mhairi’s dealings with Xiulan and the catastrophic end to that, they were always each other’s shoulder to cry on.

10. How do they make up after a fight? 

Talk it through once calmed down, work together for a solution to whatever they were fighting about, kiss and make up

Osman writes an apology monologue worthy of awards and Konstantin will get Osman his favorite baklava

11. Who causes the most arguments? 

I think pretty equally, both can get really stubborn

Osman can be a little inconsiderate, but not maliciously, he’s just gets so excited about stuff he might forget to consult Konstantin

12. What would they say each other’s worst quality is? 

The other being stubborn, stuck in their way, Ihn has a bad habit of not taking things seriously until it blows up on his face, Ihn thinks Mhairi miiiight take a little too much joy out of putting people down but hey, captains gotta captain

Osman has his head in the clouds, and sometimes forgets to focus on things that matter more. Konstantin is 

13. What would they say each other’s best quality is? 

Ihn’s always loved Mhairi’s wit, and ambition

Osman is endlessly curious and creative. Konstantin is extremely loyal and intelligent (well they both are)

14. How would they describe one another if asked? 

It would be really hard to get Ihn to describe Mhairi in a genuine manner, but under all those layers of sarcasm, he thinks really highly of them, Mhairi is intelligent in both knowledge and socially, ambitious, ready to do everything to get what she wants, looks out for those who really matter to her. They’ve known each other for so long 

They both would say the other is the smartest man in Nia Vasileos. A big “no you” “no u” type of argument would ensue

15. What names are they saved as on each other’s phone? 

Ihn has Mhairi marked down as “ball and chain” ironically, he switches it sometimes to other weapons/guns

No phones, but both would refer to the other by their name

16. What would they consider quality time? 

Good food, good drinks, great backdrop, reminiscing about all their greatest heists.

17. Who decides which movies to watch? 

They insult each other into submission: “Oh you wanna watch *war movie*? what are you 900 years old?” / “very rich coming from the guy who wants to watch troy, you just wanna see 200 bare chested men”

They take turn on deciding which theater show to go see, their tastes are very similar

18. How are they like on a road trip together? 

Whenever they take an interplanetary trip, Ihn insists on being the pilot, that’s his bread and butter. Mhairi arranges the places they’ll be staying at

Long carriage/boat rides would be mostly spent napping and reading by them both

19. It’s raining, did either of your OCs bring an umbrella? If so, who, and do they share it? 

Mhairi has a large coat, she could hoist up in case of sudden rain. They both come prepared for the weather though most of the time, just one thing less to worry about, and you don’t get to rule a space pirate empire without knowing how to prepare.

Konstantin can just move the rain away from them, a trick Osman is trying to learn

20. What are they like when sharing a bed?

Ihn is way smaller, so little spoon, also he snores so he can’t be trusted to sleep on his back, also his back hurts most of the time, and his leg. Mhairi has similar ailments so I think there will be a lot pillows involved to prop things into the right angle 

Konstantin sleeps like carcass, on his back, unmoving. Osman wraps around him and Konstantin leans his head in to kiss him goodnight

Here's the thing... it's not super fleshed out. It's a vague little spark of an idea, but I know that I can't expand on it in any solid way unless I babble about it somewhere. So - here come the babbles.

I have a lot of vague AUs where Mouse doesn't come home to Chicago after he's done with his reenlistment. He goes, does his 2 years, 4, 8, whatever it is, and then decides that he doesn't want to go back "home," not when Jay is engaged or married or whatever the timeline puts his relationship with Hailey at. So... Mouse goes somewhere else so he doesn't have to watch that and pine and hurt.

In the 911 crossover AU, he goes to LA. Honestly... I was thinking about this AU at work today and I kind of love the idea of him actually putting in the work to try to become a firefighter? He'd be good at it. It's something he can do to help people without necessarily just going back to what he was doing with Intelligence? He doesn't want that. he wants something new. He wants distance from that life, and this new career is another way to ensure that. He's in a new city, doing something new, and he likes it!

Even if he starts with the volunteer route and goes to the fire academy later on, he's doing something high energy and active. He gets to be in the middle of the action, be an actual part of a team instead of sitting behind a desk and doing research and answering calls. It's everything that working with Intelligence wasn't, in all the best ways.

And then, he ends up joining the 118 when he's certified and there's an opening, and the sheer contrast of working with Voight vs working with Bobby? Having a team who actually asks about his life and invites him out to do things with them? Almost especially having someone like Eddie around who understands the specific kind of PTSD that comes with military service? It's great.

Something about techno-phobe Eddie somehow becoming friends with force-of-chaos Buck and and tech genius Mouse? That speaks to my brand of humor specifically. It's very funny to me. Imagine the hell he has to deal with in this situation.

Just... Mouse getting a life he really enjoys, and friends he cares about who care about him and show it, and... yeah, I'm still on one about how badly canon treated my blorbo. I'll be fine once that poll stops stressing me out. 💜
