So people talk about Octo Konig a lot, and they always portray him as both having a human face but also have tentacles under the hood. To me this implies that he looks like this but with eyes and hair under the hood.

Realized that

Any wight could have killed Abe with ease. One of them was a gardener at his son's house for years and Abe (who certainly went to his son's house to see Jacob)never noticed that he was a feared Wight. Abe could easily see hollows, but he was completely blind to wights.This must be what makes them so dangerous, there is no peculiar that can notice them, with a good contact lens they are invisible in the world, perfectly camouflaged. Abe's "luck" for years was that the wights were after information that was only useful if he was alive, because if they didn't need him alive so much, Abe would certainly have died a long time earlier than in the book. The Wights always had an opportunity, there was a member infiltrated into the Portman family. And Jacob was never really protected.

This cryptic entity walking aside with semi-human boy, mocking and even eating him but also… protecting. Feels like it’s just two sides of one creature. A toothy bag with a huge tongue is both part of him and himself. In constant hunger he's devouring everything in his path and flesh seems like shining jewels of "life".

From the beginning this contradiction has been the foundation of Horatio's character. He's the Hollow, but intelligent and humane in his own way. And then later... I get it now. He resembles Rōnin.

As wight — A Man of Honor. Capable of killing without hesitation — gives all of himself ruthlessly to carry on the work of a dead master…

Hollowgasts from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children are honestly a highly underrated monster. Not only did the book versions scare the everloving shit out of me as a kid but as an adult I find the movie versions very sexy.

Movie adaptation of "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children."

Let me start off by saying that this is entirely all my opinion. I am open to others' opinions, and I hope you are open to mine. And there are going to be spoilers in this review.

I recently finished reading "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children." It is first in line out of six books. I am currently reading the second book, "Hollow City."

I decided to watch the movie adaptation to compare it to the book. I like doing that because I want to see if the movie captures the true essence of the book.

I have to tell you that the "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" movie does not live up to the book at all.

I'm sorry. I did not like it at all. There were so many changes that didn't fit into the continuity of the book so far.

Like, there is no inherent leader to the hollowgasts (hollows) and wrights and there was no fight at a carnival.

And the fact that Olive and Bronwyn's ages were flipped around as well as Olive and Emma's powers were flipped.

Now I understand that movie adaptations change some things but why did there need to be a carnival fight? It was not needed.

The year of the loop changed from 1940 to 1943.

I understand why the movie adaptation did not get a sequel.

I mean, the movie was an adaptation for a book that is first in a series and needed to be dealt with as such. Like, why not end the movie on a cliffhanger to see if there was any way for sequels for the other books in the series?

As I said, I read the book and I now wish that I hadn't watched the movie and that the movie didn't need to be made.

With all that being said, I rate the movie 3/10.

I rate the book 9.5/10.

I am currently reading the rest of the books and will give a detailed review once I am done with them.

In my freshman year of high school my language arts teacher told my class to draw, sing, or write a poem of a scene from our group books, and I asked if I could make the art with sfm. She said yes, and so I recreated scene from the first book of "Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", the scene the main character Jacob fights a monster called a hollowgast one on one!
