i think i busted my 3d printer hot end trying to replace a nozzle (tip: a wrench is better than a pair of pliers when you need to grip something in a way that it cannot be wiggled around!) so i got a replacement one, which arrived with a huge kink in the tubing that filament can't pass through, so i guess i'm just going to replace/upgrade the tubing too while my poor machine is out of commission because at this point i might as well

#talking to myself #i'm glad i printed the stuff i needed to print before hand #but i am also glad i am learning a little bit more about this printer #i've had it (anycubic vyper) for a while and honestly it is still largely a mystery to me #i still do not understand most of the parameters and i haven't done the whole. calibration thing that reddit says i should do lmfao #uguguh #but it really makes me want to learn cad software because building little things is a lot of fun #and there's something really cool about seeing a thing you built in blender etc become an actual thing #we have a resin printer too but it hasn't seen a lot of use lately...#there's something so satisfying about filament. and also the fact that it's not as dangerous or as much of a hassle lmfao #resin printing is so cool but!!!!! oh my god what a mess!#maybe some day i'll learn how to model properly so i can build minis for my little guys #alas.........

objectively deranged that netflix used THE OLD GUARD as a selling point for an unrelated film only to completely ignore its own sequel during their Tudum event.

#they even promoted things coming out in 2024 (like LIFT and their live action Airbender series) at Tudum but not TOG 2 #i honestly don't even know what to think anymore #it finished filming in September - it started test screening in late May #we haven't even seen a single still image from the film #i have no idea why they even hired a huge star like Uma for the sequel if they're not even going to use her to promote it #the old guard #the old guard 2 #netflix tudum #EDIT: yes obviously they do this all the time to promote other movies. that isn't the issue at hand #the situation is so upsetting and insidious because of the demographics involved w these respective projects #perhaps most specifically: the lgbtq characters

Best predictor of whether or not I will like a female character is if I can go on the TvTropes ymmv page for the work she appears in and see discussions about whether she's sympathetic and complicated or Actually Just A Bitch. That's when you know the character is good.

I'm so tired

#honestly.. I have a lot of thoughts right now and I just. I truly am cursed with loneliness #idk how people do this all the time? interacting with each other chatting talking spending time together. talking about hobbies and just #just being friends you know?.. it's so unfamiliar to me and it scares me #I'm so lonely and I'm comfortable with that #but at the same time. I feel like I'm being chocked. I feel so helpless and wrong because I just can't do it #how do people have friends? how does it even work? how do they keep up with each other? it's a pity I'll never know this because I barely #have anyone in my life. maybe I have like two people that I talk with rarely and I don't even have friends or anyone in fandom #it's so tiring and.. feels wrong to live like that. but at the same time that's what I'm grateful for the most - because I don't have anyone #to keep up with. to feel obligated to talk with. maybe it's really better to spend all the time working and enjoying hobbies #idk how I should feel. especially in my age #yes I know I'm.. fairly young for now but it scares me so much #I feel so wrong for not doing what others are doing. so wrong for not having anyone when all these people just.. do have someone #I'm very very lonely and I'm mostly okay with this but I can't help but feel loss #my siblings don't really care about me and that's okay - none of us are social enough. and I haven't seen my parents for what? for a year?#maybe it's for better #but I just can't help but feel so crushed and lonely because of this. I think it would be interesting if there was like, a documentary or smth like a deep dive focused on the phenomenon I like to dub the "monkey's paw" of the internet which is where a content creator quickly rises to fame/quickly becomes popular but are then pitted against so much slander, controversies, hate, and/or discourse that it either ruins that person's content creating career or damages it to a degree that will never be fixed

because it keeps happening. over and over I've seen content creators suddenly rise out of the depths and gain masses of followers only for it to topple like a poorly-played jenga tower only a few years later due to controversies and hate. meanwhile, other content creators build a following in a slow, steady way where while they might not be that known, the people who do know them support them wholeheartedly.

And I want to know WHY this keeps happening. I have a lot of theories on this (jealousy of success breeding extreme hate, sudden fame clouding judgement and leading to poor decisions, the lack of trust the apprehension more and more people are having towards newer famous people nowadays, etc) but it would be nice to once day get more than just these theories on why this keeps happening, and if this "trend" will ever stop or just get worse as time progresses

#one of the biggest reasons I think this happens honestly is because of this:#the ccs that build followings over a span of years and years before achieving 'popularity' have a more solid community #that's been built on a strong and steady foundation of mutual trust and respect #there's less of a gap between the creator and the viewer.#meanwhile the ccs that blow up early don't have this luxury for the most part. they become popular so fast and so rapidly #there's not enough time to establish that strong foundation that the 'smaller' ccs already have #and there's a large gap between cc and the fans as the cc is idolized and the cc can't keep up with the sheer number of fans to establish a #truer connection with them. like sure they'll get fanart and fan content and whatnot. but it doesn't feel the same #so when a 'smaller' cc makes a mistake they're more likely to be forgiven bc of that stronger community and connection #but when the quick-to-rise cc makes a mistake? combining what I said earlier with the sheer amount of people who hate the cc #just for getting famous quickly... best case scenario there's just mild discourse and 'antis' yelling they knew the cc was the devil or smt #worst case scenario.... well. we've all seen stuff like that happen on multiple occasions. haven't we?

#ramblings of a lunatic #it is. dare i say underrated? like I genuinely think it's so good but i feel like it's left out of discussions on modern slashers #yeah it's not THE MOST depthful piece it's not a jordan peele movie but it's still got it's moments (''FUCKING RICH PEOPLE!'')#idk maybe it's just bc it doesn't have one particular killer and that's what most slasher fandom revolves around far as i can tell #i can't say anything I'm boring I'm a big final girl stan #I've only seen one scream and went into it only knowing that my friends really liked the killers in that movie #and i was like yeah they're neat but mostly i came away screaming SIDNEY!!!!! FUCKING SIDNEY PRESCOTT LET'S GOOOOO!!!#(note i have only seen 1 scream movie. also i know there's a lot of complicated scholarly discussions to be had abt scream-#-and it's depictions of two close male killers as like. a deviant homosexuality thing and how that eclipses-#-the parts of scream that are arguably feminist. that's a whole other can of worms. i did really love Sydney tho)#i love grace too a-tier final girl. Samara Weaving is a scream queen in my heart she's so good in the role #my only complaint is i would've put a sort of. Up (2009) married life esque scene w/ Grace and Alex getting to know each other #but i get that that's a hard sell to put off and also in the context of the film grace and alex haven't known each other that long #which works directly against the biggest strength of the married life sequence #so honestly I'm not fussed #anyway yeah. fun time! even my mom enjoyed it despite the fact she normally doesn't like gore

I finally finished Future Connected. The game has been out for over two years at this point

#xcde #xenoblade #whats up. im alive #ive been posting on my sideblog awareriki pretty frequently these days but have had no time to play games #and suddenly its winter break #and i remember i haven't finished this game #this semester almost killed me #trying to do engineering and music at the same time does not leave a lot of room for playing videos game #unfortunately i will not be purchasing xenoblade 3 yet #i doubt i'll have time to finish it over winter break just based on the number of hours I've seen people say it takes to see most of it #and i would want to go through basically every sidequest #looks fun though! i haven't seen much gameplay but the characters look pretty fun #i might buy it in the summer but honestly i dont know what my summers gonna look like #because last summer i had a 9-5 and spent like a collective two weeks traveling to opposite sides of the country #and i was living in another city! so who knows #its wild to think about how much i've changed since i started this blog like i was a little baby when i posted that first photoset #but anyways ive got some stuff coming up and maybe ill do another landscape gradient thing people seemed to really like that one
