Happy Fanfic Writers Appreciation Day, Mars! Thank you so much for everything you do, and thank you for sharing beautiful fics with us. It means a lot!!💕
For the game: 2, 6, 15!🦋
THIS IS SO LATE LOL. But I got swamped with life and lack of laptop lol. Anywayyyyys thanks for sending this Ryen ily!!!!!
2. What is your favorite snippet of dialogue?
Ooooo. There's so manyyyy lol I start all my fics with just little dialogues but this one from platonically invincible is one of my favssss (cause im still waiting for seokjin to call me invincible tbhtbh) “Hongbin’s a fucking idiot, you know that right?” Seokjin interjected between your sniffles, cupping your face tightly, conviction turning his eyes ablaze. “You are remarkable. You are fucking invincible. If he couldn’t see that in the first second he met you, he is the biggest idiot on the planet.”
6. What’s the detail you wait on bated breath for readers to notice?
Hmm... for my stories I tend to add little tidbits to hint at the past for the characters (also to give me future drabble fodder lol) or I'll add like some political/philosophical insight between the comedy depending on what im reading atm lol not a lot of people get it but when they do its like Christmas for me! An example is how Never Never Fall was lowkey a commentary on housewives and roles of women in relationships even though yoongi and reader weren't even married! one of my readers caught that and I tell you I SCREAMED with joy.
15. Give us a snippet of something from your WiPs!
Welllll here's one from a Seokjin crime chaebol fic im working on “I knew this dress would look amazing on you,” he sighed, eyes roaming the way the fabric stretched perfectly over your chest, denting over your hard nipples, and you couldn’t help but smirk. “You know what’s the best thing about it?” you asked him, kissing at the dip between his collarbones as he panted, humming in question. “It has pockets.” Reaching inside the side pocket, you pulled out the blade you had spent all morning sharpening, just to make sure it would be ready for this moment. Sharp enough to slice into him like butter before he even knew what was happening, right under his ribs.  You watched his face drop from pleasure to horror as he stared at you, jaw slack, only shutting with a whimper when you stood up. Leaving the knife buried to the hilt in his torso, you wiped his blood on his shirt, lifting a leg to push at his chest, enjoying the way he easily fell over, still too shocked to move. “This is a warning,” you said curtly, a heel poking at his wound, smiling when he whined in pain. You ignored his cries of your name when you stepped away from him, picking up the document you needed from his desk. Walking away from him, your earlier anger subsided into triumph. Nobody double crossed you. Not even Kim Seokjin.
Ask me fanfic writer questions!

1, 5, and 13 with Hongbin? :)
Tumblr media
1. “We’re not just friends and you fucking know it.”
5. “Well. Yell, scream, say something. Anything”
13. “You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, cause guess what? It did!”
You can’t break your eyes away from him. You haven’t seen him since that night last weekend. The memories of it make your heart pound.
He was so gentle. Hands soft with a firm grip on your hips. Lips leaving behind a burning trail down your neck. Your name grunted between heavy breaths.
“Go over there to Hongbin before I make a scene.” Your friend interrupts your thoughts. You’re brought down to reality at the kickback.
“I came here with you. I don’t want to just leave you.” You argue, hearing a loud static sound from the living room.
“Jaehwan is starting drunk karaoke. I think I’ll be fine.” She assures before grabbing her drink and heading the other way.
You take a deep breath and start towards Hongbin. When he notices you, a smile stretches across his face. Exchanging shy greetings, Hakyeon teases you.
“Cute little lovebirds.”
“Seriously? We’re just friends.” Hongbin looks into his cup with red cheeks.
You can’t help the confused glare you shoot him, and Hakyeon’s eyes widen.
“I think I’ll leave.” Hakyeon quickly bows out of the kitchen.
Once you’re alone, you try to remain calm. “We’re not just friends, and you fucking know it.”
Hongbin doesn’t respond and continues to avoid eye contact.
“What was last weekend? Huh? We haven’t even talked about it! You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, because guess what. It did!” Your voice has a bite to it.
The silence in the room is getting heavy. With each passing second, every little thing you did with him feels like a regret. Those months spent getting closer to him feel like a lie.
“Well. Yell, scream, say something. Anything.” Your voice gets smaller with each word, but he just sits there. “Whatever. I’m leaving.”
You begin to head to the living room, but his voice stops you.
“Wait.”
You turn around to find him looking at you.
“I didn’t want to say this here, but… I wanted a better time to tell you this…” He speaks hesitantly, and you nod encouragingly.
“I fell really hard for you.”
Your heart almost pounds out of your chest at his words. “Really?”
He nods, looking like a scolded puppy. You walk back to him, arms slivering around his neck and pulling him forward. Your lips capture his in a gentle kiss. His hands find their way to your lower back as you feel him smile against you.

Teach Me (Vixx Hongbin Scenario)
Tumblr media
POV: Second (male x female)
Genre: Fluff, I guess
The room was awkwardly silent with the only audible noise coming from the ticking of a clock. Hakyeon had invited you over to hangout and then left, claiming he needed to meet up with someone. Knowing him, he probably set this whole thing up. There was a friend of his that you liked and that liked you back, but you didn’t know how to go about it. Apparently he decided to step in...
Now you were sitting with Hongbin on a couch, one cushion between you. He was nervously rubbing his lips with his index finger and your leg was shaking like crazy- a nervous habit that annoyed many, but you just couldn’t stop it. He cleared his throat and asked, “So, uh, how long have you known Hakyeon?”
“Three years. And you?”
“Five. Are you just friends?”
“Yeah. Are you?” You smiled to yourself and prayed that it wouldn’t make anything more awkward.
A light blush spread across his face and he laughed. “Of course we’re just friends.” His laughter stopped after a moment and he asked, “Do you play video games?”
“No. I would love to learn, but my mom believed gaming was for boys and girls should stay far away from anything a boy does.”
“That’s lame. I can teach you. Hakyeon bought a PS4, claiming he only did it because I ‘nagged’ him about not having a gaming console, even though I only mentioned it once.” He got up, grabbed two controllers, and turned on the television. He handed a blue controller to you and you held it tightly, trying to get used to the feel of it. “Lesson one: don’t hold the controller like it’s the only thing keeping you alive. It’ll cause your hands to cramp up.” He inserted a disc into the console and a screen that read ‘Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’ came up. “We’re going to play Team Deathmatch on multiplayer alone until you get the hang of it.” He quietly added in, “The campaign is shitty, but at least this is decent.”
You giggled to yourself and stared down at the controller, trying to remember the different buttons. He sat next to you and informed you about what each button does and showed you how to change it, but you kept everything at default. “We’ll play a few rounds together, just the two of us, and then we’ll activate bots. If you’re comfortable enough after that, we’ll play online.”
You shyly commented, “I’m not too sure I’ll ever be ready for that.”
He smiled and your heart melted at seeing his dimples. “That’s why we’ll wait and see. The plans aren’t set in stone.”
You nodded and eagerly turned towards the screen. The match started and you flicked through the loudout options, trying to decide what weapons set looked the most powerful. Apparently you were taking too long for Hongbin’s liking, so he suggested one for you.
“I imagined you being more shy around women,” you said almost absentmindedly. So far in the game, you were doing pretty well. There were now bots in the game and you were more comfortable with the controller.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him blush and shift his weight. He cleared his throat and replied, “I guess it’s because I’ve been told so much about you, it’s made me not be so nervous... Besides, we’ve kind of bonded, right?”
“Yeah, we kind of have... I wonder when Hakyeon is going to be back. He’s been gone for a while.”
The round ended and he stretched, yawning in the process. “That’s a good question.” He looked at the time on his phone and said, “It’s eleven. He normally doesn’t stay out so late. I’ll call him real quick.” You nodded as he stepped outside and dialed your best friend’s phone number.
After a few minutes, he came back inside, chuckling to himself. Confused, you asked, “What’s so funny?”
He stuffed his phone in his pocket and answered, “He’s with a girl and has been drinking, but was trying to hide it. I guess he has a secret lover.”
You gasped and placed your hand over your heart, pretending to be offended. “Why would he want to hide such a thing from us?”
He shrugged and have a nonchalant half-smile. “Maybe he didn’t want it to seem like he was rubbing his relationship in our face.”
“Knowing him, he wouldn’t do that, at least not intentionally.”
“You know how he is... Do you think he’d go on a double date?” He grabbed his jacket and slipped it on over his shoulders.
Your face became flush at the question. You cleared your throat and cautiously answered, “I think so. Why do you ask?”
He raked his fingers through his hair, showing that he was nervous. “I was thinking that maybe we could... y’know... Nevermind.”
“Hongbin,” you said sternly. “Ask whatever it is you were going to ask.”
“Would you like to go on a double date?” He followed up by quickly saying, “Of course we would have to check with him first and I don’t want to assume anything from either of you because that would be unfair-”
“Shut up,” you interrupted him. “I would love to go on a double date with you.”
His face brightened with a wide grin. “Great!” He pulled a scrap of paper out of his pocket and offered it to you; you accepted it and read the numbers scribbled on it. “Text me later. We can have a groupchat with Hakyeon and plan everything. I have to go, but I’ll see you soon?” You nodded and smiled at each other.
After he left, your heart felt like it was going a hundred miles per second. You took several deep breaths in an attempt to calm down. It was a miracle that you clicked so well and it had quickly turned into a possible relationship. Your initial instinct was to call your best friend and sob into the phone, but he was tipsy so you opted for screaming into the couch and going into fits of hysterical laughter. God forbid if anyone walked in on you; they’d think that you were insane.

⋆: closing the distance ⋆ l.hb
❝distance means so little, when someone means so much... ♡ ❞
vixx  ⋆ lee hongbin  ⋆ 1631
In the four years you’ve been dreaming, you never thought your dream would come true. You never thought this day would come. After the neverending months of calls that lasted for what felt like forever, series of texts that went on for hours and the collection of tiny gifts and mementos that you held close to your heart, you were gonna be able to close that distance. The thousands and thousands of miles of distance that held you and Hongbin apart for nearly four years now.
Four years. You spent four years constantly checking your phone for a new text from Hongbin, or a new Twitter notification, or anything to stay updated on his life and vice versa for him. You spent four years on the phone, calling with him despite his busy schedule, even as an idol. You spent four years clinging onto the little times you got to Skype with him, despite the drastic time zone difference.  You spent four years loving a Korean idol, and you wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
To say you were amazed you even had a relationship with an idol is an understatement. He was famous, he was someone untouchable, yet you managed to have a connection with him— not through your love for the Korean culture, but rather through the love for games— especially Overwatch.
You would had never expected to meet the love of your love over Overwatch of all things. You never really thought that you would have a life-changing experience because of a game. You loved games, yes, but you weren’t really one to revolve your life around playing them. Though you did spent a lot of hours playing League or Overwatch, you wouldn’t deny that...
It was funny how you met Hongbin honestly. You had a friend, Jooyoung, who came from Korea who was surprisingly close to some idols. They weren’t popular idols, but they were still idols, and it had amazed you that Jooyoung still kept in touch with them despite their busy schedule. Jooyoung had invited you to play Overwatch with a few of her friends and their friends, and that’s how you ended up in a call with Hongbin and a few other people, playing the addictive game.
You don’t remember how or why you guys clicked— you just did. Despite your poor Korean back then, you managed to hold pretty interesting conversations with Hongbin that left you wanting to talk to him more. Overwatch, addicting as it was, helped you two grew closer, the two of you usually playing against or with each other whenever the two had the time.
The two of you became close friends insanely fast, and the next thing you knew, you were constantly talking to Hongbin whenever you had the chance. However, the two of you didn’t get into a relationship until a year after your friendship started. You were both nervous and scared of getting into a relationship, with him being an idol and all, but the two of you couldn’t ignore the intensity of your feelings. So you decided it was worth a shot.
It was hard. You weren’t gonna lie. It was hard not being able to feel Hongbin’s arms around you when you were having a bad anxiety attack, and it was hard not being able to feel his plush lips against yours. It was also really hard to keep your relationship a secret from the online world, to protect both you and Hongbin. While Hongbin constantly reminded you that his fans— Starlights— would accept you, you still felt burdened, and afraid that you weren’t enough for him.
Despite that, despite the distance and despite all of the insecurities, the two of you pulled through. While the two of you couldn’t be there for one another physically, you always knew he was there for you mentally. The days when he was there for you physically were days you cherished the most. With his busy schedule, he rarely got the chance to sit down and talk to you for hours, much less come visit you for a few days, but whenever he had free days, Hongbin didn’t miss the chance to fly over to your country to visit you.
You, on the other hand, often booked flights to Korea to see him, whether it’d be for a concert or in private. You attended a few of his fanmeets, being able to showcase your love from him in public, despite you having to— not necessarily “fake” your love for him, but rather hide what you truly felt, and Hongbin had to do the same. In the end, you both got to see each other, the breaks between each visit going from six months to only two.
Halfway through your third year of the relationship, Hongbin had asked you to permanently move to Korea— and possibly move in with him. While he was still contracted to Jellyfish Entertainment as a VIXX member, he had the choice to move out and have his own apartment, and he wanted to share it with you. You were perplexed by the idea at the time, but the thought of living with Hongbin and being able to wake up in his embrace sent butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
It was a lot of planning, a lot of talking to both of your families, his company and whoever else had to be involved. At first, his own members were against it, fearful that the relationship would have been leaked and you would be in danger, however Hongbin had reasoned with them. He wasn’t a rookie idol anymore, he had the right to have relationships, and he knew Starlights would understand. He believed in Starlights, and he believed that your relationship would last.
On the other hand, your family was quite worried about you leaving the comfort of your home and culture and taking on a new one. They respected you as an adult and your decisions, however it didn’t stop them from the constant warnings and often or not questioning your decision. You would be leaving your family, your home, your country— everything you knew, to be with someone who lives in a whole different country and who lead a whole different life from yours.
You knew it would take awhile to get used to South Korea. You were thankful you were already fluent in the language, having studied it for most of your high school and college life, plus conversations with Hongbin were 99% in Korean rather than in English. With your constant visits to Korea, you were familiar with the culture, and one time, during your early college life, you had the chance to study abroad in the country. Thanks to that experience, you knew little bit about the living conditions and how they acted. Despite that, it was still a life changing decision—you knew that, but you knew, without a doubt, that this is what you wanted for your future. You knew it was gonna be tough switching your entire life around, but you firmly believed you would be spending the rest of your years with Hongbin.
Your family trusted you, and they trusted Hongbin. It was an emotional goodbye, and you had promised them that you would visit for holidays whenever you could. You were gonna miss your family, there was no doubt you were gonna miss them like crazy, but you knew that you would have felt even more miserable if you were to wait out your relationship with Hongbin. It was a tough decision, but you knew you made the right one.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived in Seoul, South Korea—” The flight attendant's voice snapped you out of your small daze, and you felt excitement and nervousness bubble all at once. Finally, after four years, you’ll be closing the distance forever. In a few minutes, you would be in the arms of your love. Once you were given the okay to depart the plane, you were rushing down the aisles and through the airport hallway. You had sent a quick text to Hongbin about your arrival, and you couldn’t wait to see him waiting there for you.
Passing the gate, you could easily spot out Hongbin standing there, an uncontrollable smile on his face, topped with his cute dimples that you adored. In his hands was a bouquet of roses. Cheesy, but it warmed your heart at the thought of him getting something for you.  He looked just as anxious and nervous as you, but the excitement was clear.
“Hongbin!” You called out, a big grin breaking out as you quickly ran over to the male, jumping into his wide arms with an excited cry, tears already pricking at your eyes. Hongbin let out a laugh, hugging you close to him as he kissed you lightly on the forehead. You reluctantly pulled away from him to meet him with a longing kiss on his lips, which he reciopated with glee, pulling you impossibly closer.
Pulling away slightly breathless, you smiled brightly at him. “Hi,” you whispered.
Hongbin mirrored your big grin, kissing you once more on the forehead, “Hi,” he breathed out in relief. He took in all of your features, his brown eyes warm as his smile grew impossibly wider. “Hi,” he repeated, burying his head into the crook of your shoulder. You could feel his grin on your skin and you couldn’t help but laugh softly, voice almost ready to break in happiness. “Hi, welcome home,” Hongbin mumbled and you couldn’t stop a tear from leaving your eye.
Home. You were home. In his arms. You get to call Hongbin your home for the rest of your life and the thought made you laugh softly as you hugged him closer.
“Hi, I’m home.”

15 with either hongbin or leo :)
“How have you made it this long without someone throwing you out an airlock or something?”
“I was never on a spacecraft to begin with.”
Eyeing Hongbin as she walked in on his apartment, she looked around the kitchen. It certainly looked like a massacre just happened there.
“Good thing or else you’d be dead by now.” She looked at the red liquid dropping from kitchen counter, and taking a deep breathe, she asked. “Please tell me that’s not blood.”
“I mean,” Hongbin started, looking at his hands. “I did cut my finger a bit. But it might just be berry jam.”
She stared at him, in complete disbelief.
“The jam was a lot harder to make than I thought it would be.”
“How...? I mean, why?”
“You said I sucked at cooking.”
“What?”
“The other day.” Hongbin said, looking completely serious, even a bit angry. “You said I couldn’t even make pasta. So I tried making a pavlova.”
“A pavlova?!” She yelled, looking at him with wide eyes.
“How hard could it be?”
“You literally picked one of the most difficult things to do in baking.”
They both stayed quiet, looking at each other for a hot minute. The whole situation just seemed funny, and Hongbin’s facial expression, between amused, defeated and angry was even funnier.
Sighing, she approached him, planting a kiss on his lips before whacking him on the head.
“Hey!”
“You love cleaning, don’t you?”

Paring: Jung Taekwoon X Reader
Genre: Fluff
Requested: No
A/N: This is very cringy because I was distracted while writing so please bear with me ! Okay thanks, and enjoy
Tumblr media
Sitting across from Taekwoon at one of the tables in the library of your college was somewhat comforting. He was quite quiet and so was everyone else here at this time, you two have been studying together recently but tonight you were getting bored and didn’t wanna read another word on the damn paper.
Letting out a sigh you lean back in your chair, glancing at Taekwoon, he was a very attractive guy. His tannish skin sticking out from the others and his sliver hair falling just perfectly over half of his face as his tired eyes scanned his paper. Taekwoon caught you staring and gave you a small smile.
Deciding to try and make conversation instead of just looking at each other you say “You don’t talk very much, do?”
Taekwoons nose scrunched up in confusion at your question but the shrugged “Never really have a reason to” Damn his voice is soft, how can a guy that looks so intimidating be so soft spoken?
“Well you should try talking more, you have a nice voice” A little smile pulled at your lips as you spoke “It’s a lot better then most of the boys in our class, their all so loud you can barely here your own thoughts” and with that you heard Taekwoon let out a little chuckle, which not gonna lie surprised you.
“Maybe, just for you maybe. We’ll have to see” Taekwoon commented before looking back down at his textbook, leaving you a smiling mess, feeling like you’ve finally broken through his tough outter shell that he’s put up to everyone.

Finally Enough
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff, romance Pairing: RaBin Word Count: 342 Summary: Ravi finally finds someone who thinks he’s more than enough.
Tumblr media
The pain was constantly cutting him like a knife. Hakyeon was happy, Ravi was not. Hakyeon had Leo to fall back on and Ravi had no one. This three-way relationship was just not working and it was killing him inside. He felt alone. He felt like he deserved to be alone because he obviously wasn’t enough for one person.
Day by day he sat and watched and craved for all the attention he could get from Hakyeon while trying to put a wedge between Hakyeon and Leo, though he felt bad for doing it. They were his hyungs, his friends, his group mates and he loved him. He just loved Hakyeon more and in a different way. A way that wasn’t reciprocated. As winter turned to spring, Ravi was finding himself ready to simply end it all. And just as the darkness started to consume him completely, a small ray of light broke through. It took a bit of time, but slowly the light chased away the shadows that clawed at his skin, tearing him up in ways he never thought possible.
He was surrounded by the beauty, by the warmth of the light and the love that came with it was like no other. It was the type of love he had longed so much for from Hakyeon. The type of love that he watched Hakyeon give to another while whispering sweet things to him at night. It was love, true and pure love; love only meant for him. He welcomed this love with open arms, grasping out and clinging to it desperately. With a warm smile and loving embrace, the light accepted him as he was and slowly began to heal all the wounds that had been created.
He was happy now with his new boyfriend. He could live peacefully knowing he was loved. In the end, it had all been worth it, to go through the pain. Because in the end, Hakyeon brought Ravi closer to his true love, the one meant for him. His lover….

Artificial Heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: Request
Pairing: Hongbin x reader
A/N: It was nice to write for this group agian.
**
“No, no. Like this.” You stretched out your lips, using the muscles under your skin to pull the corners up. A smile wasn’t hard for you, but for some reason, it was harder than holding up the world for the android in front of you.
He tried once again, but it came out a little too straight and a little too strained. It didn’t meet his eyes. They were as dead as they were synthetic. You let out a sigh, shoulders slumping in defeat.
“Did I do something wrong?” the android – named Hongbin – asked.
You shook your head. “No! Of course not! It’s just going to take some time. Certain things couldn’t be programmed in your chip, so they’ll just have to be learned.”
Although, even as the word left your mouth, you were sure there were some things that he could never learn. Due to his artificial nature, emotions would always be out of his grasp. Sure, he could learn to mimic them, but they would never be real, would they?
Hongbin blinked, his voice monotone and void of any infliction. “I’m sorry I can’t do it yet.”
Picking up your clipboard, you stood to your feet. “Don’t be sorry. It’s not your fault. We’ll get there. Eventually.”
**
Hongbin frowned at the picture book you had opened in your lap. The two of you were sitting on the floor side by side as you read and explained the children’s fable out loud to him.
“I don’t understand. How could the slower animal win?”
It was astonishing how much progress he’d made. Just by speaking with you day in and day out, he’d learned how to convey his thoughts through stressing different words and changing the tone of his voice. He’d even started contorting his facial expressions – frowning when he was confused, raising his eyebrows when he was taken by surprise. Truly, there were times where you’d forget that he wasn’t human. And it was a scary realization when you remembered.
“Because,” you chuckled, “he took his time and stayed on the path. The rabbit, overconfident in his ability, ran around, back and forth, taunting the turtle. Because he didn’t take the time to focus on the task in front of him, he missed the finish line. That’s why we say ‘slow and steady wins the race’.”
“Slow and steady,” he repeated. Then he looked up at you. The corners of his lips turned up slightly. There was an innocence in his eyes that captivated you. “Slow and steady wins the race.”
“Yes. That’s right,” you nodded, stunned. He never failed to surprise you.
Since the beginning, you’d been on this project, overseeing every step of his manufacturing. When he woke up, your fellow scientists declared that you would be his teacher; that he needed a nurturing touch. And you were all too happy to oblige. Seeing his progress up close was fascinating, but the more he learned, the more the line between man and machine seemed to blur. The outside might be made of true human tissue, but inside was gears and wires and coding.
“But is there such thing as going too slow?” he asked.
You laughed in astonishment. “Yes. There could be times where acting too slowly or being too hesitant could work against you. A happy medium is where you want to be.”
Hongbin’s face twisted into an expression of disgusted. “A… happy medium?”
You snorted. Apparently, you’d have to be careful about the phrases you used around him.
**
Today was hard. And it wasn’t even your life outside of these walls that made it so. It was the person who sat on the other side of the door. Because that’s who he was to you: a person.
You had done the one thing you swore you would never do, that seemed impossible to do. You’d fallen for him. Meeting him day after day, seeing his intelligence and eagerness to learn, it had done you in. And that was okay. That was the part you could live with.
It was the fact that he could never return those feelings that stung. It was that simple yet unchanging detail that was breaking your heart.
You didn’t want to go inside today. You wanted to spare yourself, just once. You could pretend to be sick. HR new that you had plenty to use. But you knew you’d regret missing even one day with him. So, pushing away your feelings to make room for the unbiased scientist, you swiped your badge and went in.
Hongbin straightened up at the sight of you. “Good morning, Doctor.”
Unable to help yourself, you smiled at him. “Good morning, Hongbin. Did you enjoy the movies I left you?”
It was the next step in seeing how much he’d learned, what emotions and actions he could recognize in others to make himself pass as human. That, and you thought he might enjoy something else to do in this small room.
“Yes, I did,” he nodded with a grin. He smiled often now, no longer struggling to pull his artificial muscles into the expression. Then it faded. “But there’s one thing I didn’t understand.”
Sitting down on the bed next to him, you asked, “And what was that?”
“What is this ‘love’ the people kept talking about? I feel as if I have heard it before, but I don’t understand what it means?” He looked at you with eyes ready for the answer. Why, oh why, did he have to ask this on today of all days?
“Love is…,” you took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to properly define such a difficult word.
Was there really any one true definition? And what made one version more superior over the other? Love was a labyrinth of hormones and aches and irrational thoughts and actions. It made even the most upstanding and rational person do crazy things.
But it was also beautiful. It was years spent hand-in-hand. It was kindness and laughter, selflessness and ever-changing. It was good and bad, easily given up and yet rewarding. How do you translate that into words?
“Complicated,” you finally settled on. “Love is complicated.”
“I can keep up,” Hongbin declared.
You laughed. “I’m sure you can.”
Involuntarily, your hand reached up and brush his hair from his eyes. His skin felt soft under your touch, his hair swaying back over his forehead when you let it go. The realness of what you could feel fought with what your brain knew to be true.
“Love is… something that you feel inside. Sometimes it’s simply friendship – not wanting something bad to happen to that person and to want to do nice things for them because you can. Other times – the way I’m sure the movies were meaning it - it’s… a yearning for another person. You don’t feel right when they’re not around and you can’t wait to see them again. They make you laugh and smile and you want to do the same for them. You feel happiest with that person. When they touch you, there’s fire under your skin. Not one that hurts, but one that warms you up. Just holding hands makes your heart beat fast.”
“Like this?” Hongbin took a hold of your hand, hovering the intertwined fingers between you.
Now it was your turn to frown. “What do you mean like this?” Taking ahold of your other hand, he brought it up to his chest.
Right where his heart – made of synthetic tissue, you reminded yourself – had been placed you could feel an abnormal rhythm, one that was too high for his resting state. It was beating at the same pace as yours, fast and erratic. How was that possible?
Scared, you pulled away and stood up, heading for the door. “I think I should go.”
“Wait!” Too quick for you to escape, Hongbin grabbed your arm and spun you around before trapping you between the door and himself. An arm on either side kept the door closed. “Do you feel it too?”
“Hongbin, I really should-” you stopped, stunned. The android had lowered his head so he could place his ear over your heart.
“Yours is doing it, too.”
“I really should go,” you whispered.
Straightening up once again, Hongbin nodded. “But there’s one more thing. Something I saw the humans do in the movie.”
“What was-”
You couldn’t even finish before Hongbin pressed his lips against yours. The contact sent your heart into overdrive. He tasted sweet, molding perfectly against your mouth. You wanted to press it further, drink more of him in. But you shouldn’t be doing this at all. This was wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
You pushed him away, eyes wide. “I’m sorry. I can’t do this.”
With that you left the room, hoping and praying that no one witnessed his most human moment yet.
**
“What exactly are you saying?”
“I’m saying that the other scientist are marveled by his progress and want to know how to replicate it.”
You were standing in the office of the head scientist, looking down at him and his balding head as he spewed out words that you knew but didn’t understand.
“And what exactly will that entail?” you asked unabashed. Below your skin, your blood was boiling. You’d walked in to complete chaos even though everyone else was going around and acting like nothing was wrong. Suddenly, the schedule and purpose of Hongbin didn’t matter anymore. A new agenda had been created.
“We’re just going to run some tests on him,” your supervisor said, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands behind his head. Pit stains were very apparent even through both his button down and his white lab coat. For a man who wasn’t well-kept, he was very smug with himself.
You gritted your teeth, not in the mood to play this guessing game. “What kind of tests?”
“Well, we need to dissect his artificial intelligence,” he explained. “It’s growing and expanding at a rate we never expected. It’s unfathomable and we need to try and understand it.”
A scoff escaped before you could stop it. “It’s because his intelligence isn’t artificial. At least, not anymore. It’s evolved.”
“And we need to find out how that happened.” Leaning forward, he folded his hands on his pristine desk. It was too pristine for a scientist with a workload he supposedly had. “Don’t worry. Once we have the information we need, we’ll put him back on schedule.”
That would have made you feel better, if it weren’t for one little word he’d used earlier. “When you say dissect….”
“I mean exactly that.”
“So you’re going to put him through extreme brain surgery?”
Your supervisor shrugged. “It’s how we’ll get the information. I almost feel bad for the thing. He doesn’t respond to anesthetics so he’ll be awake while we do them.”
No. No.
Keeping your face as neutral as possible, you nodded and left the office. Nearly every fiber of every muscle in your body was shaking. It disgusted you how they didn’t care. They didn’t care that he would be alert, able to feel every prick and cut as they tore into him.
You couldn’t let that happen to him. He deserved more. He deserved a chance at a real life. He may have been created in a lab rather than a mother’s womb, but that didn’t make him any less human. There was a soul behind those eyes and they would get a chance to see the sun.
**
You waited until everyone had left. The only personnel still around were the cleaning crew and nightly security that played more online poker than actually watched the cameras. An eeriness fell over the empty hallways as you hurried towards Hongbin’s room, still keeping at a walking pace as to not raise any alarm in case someone really was watching.
As you entered inside, you held the door open and motioned for him to come.
“What are you doing here?” Hongbin asked as he stood to his feet.
“Come one!” you hissed. “We don’t’ have much time.”
“(y/n), what is going on?”
You looked at him with determination, knowing that he would trust you every step of the way, even if you had to live the rest of your lives as fugitives.
“I’m getting you out of here.”

Hi, lovely!! I missed you and hope you've been well~ May I please get 50 with Hongbin?
“Disgusting,” Hongbin’s voice pulled your attention away from your ice cream.
“You don’t like it?”
“Not the ice cream,” he nodded his head towards a couple walking in front of you with their fingers interlocked. “That.”
You glanced to the couple, rolling your eyes at your boyfriend’s pettiness before you turned your focus back to your dessert.
After you finished eating and started to aimlessly walk around the city, you felt him move closer to you.
“Can I hold your hand?” he asked sweetly, fingers brushing against yours.
“No,”
“Why,” he pouted.
“It’s disgusting,”
He scowled at you for a few seconds before grabbing your hand, holding it in his.
You glanced down to it, screwing up your nose and pulling yours away.
“Let me hold your hand,” he reached for it once more, but you picked up your pace to distance yourself from him.
It took him seconds to catch up, trying once more to connect the two of you.
“You said it’s disgusting!” As you tried to pull away again, he brought up his other hand to trap you.
“Let me hold it!” he managed to get out between the sound of your giggles.

“I told you to secure him properly, he’s a slippery bastard with too much information on us!” Hongbin exclaimed, letting off a string of profanities at the two men before him. “How did this happen?!”
Jaehwan glanced at his comrade, Wonshik returning the gesture before both looked ahead, their guilty expressions the only thing they offered up to their boss. Hongbin kicked them both in the leg, grumbling that if he wanted something done right, he should have done it himself. After Hongbin left, Jaehwan slumped against the wall, shooting an accusing finger in the direction of Wonshik. “This is your fault!”
“Mine?!” he echoed, shaking his head repeatedly. “I told you to watch him. That Hyuk kid is more clever than he looks!”
“He seemed nice!” Jaehwan admitted with a pout, rubbing his neck awkwardly. Perhaps he should shoulder more of the blame. “He told me that he was going to teach me all about the way he cracks open the safes he robs.”
“And you believed him?!”
“It was you who decided to leave me alone with him so you could eat!”
Wonshik groaned. “I was hungry and I didn’t think a suspect who was securely cuffed would escape!”
“I was hungry too, you didn’t even think about me!” Jaehwan wailed and folded his arms across his chest petulantly.
“Are you both done?” the other voice in the room finally questioned, quiet yet authoritative. Taekwoon sighed heavily. “Idiots, I’m surrounded by them. I wish Hakyeon was here. Then I wouldn’t be left on baby-sitting duties all the time.”
Both men sneered at the remark, and Taekwoon rolled his eyes, getting up. “Well, are you just going to sit there? Hyuk can’t have gotten too far. If one of you catch him before Hongbin does, he’ll probably reward you.”
The two men looked at each other before rushing for the door, grappling to open it before the other. When they were out of the room, Taekwoon smirked, pulling out his phone and sending a text message to who he truly worked with.
“Nice work for once, Hyuk.”

It’s Just A Game (F)
Tumblr media
Drabble Challenge: Lee Hongbin  + 19. “You’re Satan.”  and 41.“Sorry isn’t going to help when I kick your ass!!!”
“I swear to all things holy, if you snipe me one more ti—”
The words died on your lips as your character fell to the ground. Dead. You had just re-spawned, just to die once again. Another life lost to the cruel world.
“That’s it!” You abruptly stood, slamming your chair into the back of the player behind you. You turned on the man blaming you for his most recent death in what appeared to be a string of deaths, “Obviously that game isn’t for you.  Don’t blame me because you’re cannon fodder.”  The man behind you looked close to tears as he turned back to his computer screen sullenly.  All you could see was red as you turned back to stare down at the stupidly handsome face currently wheezing across from you.
“Sorry?”
“Sorry isn’t going to help you when I kick your ass Lee Hongbin,” you threatened calmly as you prepared to launch yourself over the barrier between you two.
“Wait,” Hongbin stopped laughing when he realized what you were doing. “Get off the chair,” he hissed quietly, “I can’t get banned from another PC room because you’re a sore loser. Calm down demon.”
“If I’m a demon, you’re Satan! Now prepare for this ass whooping!”
“You know you just made me your superior, right?” He smiled again before ducking, barely missing the half empty bottle of tea you threw at his head. “I liked you better when we didn’t game together,” Hongbin said as he started packing up with a pout. Grumbling about it just being a game and it not being his fault he’s a Gaming God.
“Gaming God my ass you pretty faced loser!  I’ve seen you nearly punch a hole in a wall when you lost a match.  Not to mention that time you were so mad you were nearly in tears because you got killed right before the end of your perfect season.”
“If I buy you food will you shut up?”
You pouted before sitting back down, “You’re buying? Well you should have said that before!”
Hongbin stood over you now looking confused, “Is that really all it took?”
You smiled up at him. “Have you learned nothing Beans? Food makes everything better, now let’s go.” You grabbed his hand and started dragging him out the door, “I’m about to test the limits on your card.”

hongbin; hyde
there’s no way I said I would leave you
Tumblr media
This is part of the 1101 follower event! (requests closed)
Your footsteps echo on the concrete floor, making the hesitancy of your steps immediately obvious to anyone there to hear it. There’s nobody that would judge you, you know, but it makes you self-conscious to hear: visiting your fiancé should be something you enjoy, not something you’re nervous about.
Then again, most people’s fiancés aren’t trapped in what is essentially a concrete-and-glass box with only a personality problem for company.
You turn the handle on the door to the antechamber and swing it open, pausing in the doorway to survey the window beyond. This one is a one-way mirror, so Hongbin (supposedly) doesn’t yet know you’re here, but you can see him lift his head and give the mirror a piercing glance regardless.
Your shoulders droop. You’d hoped it would be a better day today.
It’s love for Hongbin – the real Hongbin, not this twisted version that’s swallowed him up – that propels you forward, takes you through the security checkpoint. You’re wearing a security jumpsuit for your own safety, though Hongbin’s never tried to harm you when you’re inside with him. The medical team working with him has been less lucky.
When you finally make it into the room, you close the door gently behind you and take a moment to rearrange your features into a neutral expression. When you turn back, Hongbin is right there – you didn’t even hear him move across the room.
“Hello, Hongbin,” you say evenly, and offer him a tiny smile, searching his expression for something familiar. “How are you today?”
Even his voice is different than it used to be: dropped, rasping, slower. The invasion of his person that turned him into a drone had also given him dramatic timing (apparently), because he looked you over carefully before he replied.
“Bored,” he says finally, and you kept your expression neutral, even as the unfamiliar voice gave you goosebumps (and not the good kind). “They don’t let me out… they don’t let anyone else in… I only have you to play with, darling,” he adds wickedly, and you sigh.
“Checkers or chess?” you ask, and if your tone is even, that’s only because you’ve had months of practice. Whether Hongbin notices, you don’t know, but you are heartened by the curve of his lips and twinkle in his eyes when he smiles in response. It’s normal – almost.
Hongbin used to love you; he used to treasure you over everything else on this Earth. It’s only this scourge that’s taken him away, hidden him inside his own body with only the occasional glimpse showing through.
It’d be easier without the glimpse, you think one day while you’re supervising a medical team do a new barrage of tests. If you could just accept that he was gone and move on – but you can’t. Every time he gives you a soft, sweet look, or calls you by a nickname you’d thought he’d forgotten, you get your hopes up for the real Hongbin’s return.
Today they’re doing another round of blood tests; apparently they’d given him a new test antidote and are hoping to see a decrease in the invasion of his person. Hongbin never liked blood tests, but this darker version of himself hates them with a vengeance, and he’s promised bodily harm to any med tech that tries it without you there.
After one of them almost lost their fingers, they listened.
“That pinches,” Hongbin says, almost lazily, with his head lolling back. His eyes are half-closed, lidded like a snake’s, “Are you almost done?”
The med techs mutter in the affirmative, and Hongbin turns his head to look at you. “Darling,” he says, tone saccharine sweet, “Why aren’t you over here holding my hand for support?”
You lift your eyebrows at him, and then startle both him and yourself by crossing the floor to take his hand. His fingers squeeze yours involuntarily, and the two of you stare at each other as if you’re looking at each other for the first time as the med techs do their work.
They say that the antidote didn’t work, but they want to try a new psychotherapy. You’ve heard it before – Hongbin is the first patient that they’ve managed to keep in a safe zone, and that means he’s essentially Patient Zero. You just hope it doesn’t hurt, them trying to bring him back to himself.
You ask Hongbin if it does while they’re giving him the paperwork to sign, as he stares down at yet another form with an unreadable expression. It gives him pause, enough that he looks up at you with a furrowed brow and an unusually soft expression.
“I mean,” you try again, “Why do you keep saying yes when it’s no benefit to you?”
“But it is of benefit to me,” Hongbin says, and you squint at him, unable to tell if it’s the real him or not-Hongbin speaking. “I miss you.”
The lab supervisor gives you a quizzical look, but you’re too busy trying to stamp down the rising hope in your chest.
“The old you, or…the new you?”
Hongbin gives you a faint smile, and signs the form. “Aren’t they both me?”
The next time you visit him, he is calm.
“I don’t know if it’s the science or just you,” Hongbin says, as you hesitantly sit next to him on his bed, “But I feel more cohesive these days.”
His voice isn’t back to normal, but it’s less gravelly than before. You bite your lip, suddenly hit with an attack of nerves.
“Are you okay?” you ask him, and the Hongbin that smiles at you isn’t Hongbin, but it’s the closest he’s been for a long time.
“I think I’m getting better,” he replies, and for once, you allow yourself to take his hand and give him a real smile.
