Lupine Publishers|Molecular detection of aflatoxin producing Aspergillus species isolates in some chicken meat cuts in Gharbiya governorate, Egypt

Abstract

Contamination with fungi and their toxins is considered one of the most dangerous hidden pollutants that threaten the health of the consumer. The presence of mycotoxins in various foods has been recorded, despite their apparent safety for human consumption. Therefore, the current study was conducted to evaluate the prevalence of Aspergillus species by culture method; and aflatoxinproducing genes molecularly in total of 75 random samples of chicken cuts represented by wing, breast and thigh (25 of each) that were collected from various groceries and poultries shops located at Gharbiya governorate, Egypt. Results of culture and isolation techniques revealed detection of Aspergillus sp. in 36, 48 and 44% of the examined wing, breast and thigh samples, respectively. Moreover, microbiological identification of the isolated strains showed presence of A. niger, A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. terreus and A. parasiticus in 16, 13.3, 10.6, 1.3 and 1.3% of the total population of the examined samples. Molecular detection of some aflatoxin production regulating genes (OmtA, Nor1 and Ver1) in ten Aspergillus sp. isolates revealed their detection in 8/10 (80%), 8/10 (80%) and 7/10 (70%) represented by positive bands at molecular weight of 1024, 400 and 537 bp, respectively. Referring to the recorded results, chicken cuts may possess a great silent hazard to the human being under improper good manufacturing practices and inadequate hygienic conditions during handling and storage.

Introduction

Chicken meat and meat products production in developing countries plays an essential role in supporting food security and poultry meat demands Wong et al. [1]. Contamination of meat products with molds can be occur during different preparation stages during slaughtering under bad hygienic conditions using contaminated water or by adding contaminated spices with mold spores or during packing, handling, transportation and storage Khalalfalla et al. [2]. Contamination of meat with Aspergillus species, especially Flavi section, is one of the most hazardous microbial contamination as the majority of Aspergillus species are able to aflatoxins production that can cause diseases associated with aflatoxin poisoning and carcinogenic effects Leggieri et al. [3]. Acute aflatoxin poisoning may lead to death as was recorded in Kenya in 2004 Probst et al. [4], while chronic poisoning may lead to various recorded mutagens and cancers Benkerroum [5]. Aspergillus sp. was classified into two groups depending on their toxigenic impacts on food and human health; 1st group includes the aflatoxigenic species such as A. flavus and A. parasiticus, while the 2nd group contains the non-aflatoxin-producing species such as A. tamarii and A. oryzae Frisvad et al. [6]. Molecular analyses have been used to confirm aflatoxin productivity of Aspergillus species isolates. omtA, nor1 and ver1 genes are from the commonly used genes encoded aflP, aflD and aflM toxins detection in food items Sohrabi and Taghizadeh [7] yield an accurate, rapid and reliable records of toxigenic aspergillus species especially in food chain Sadhasivam et al. [8]. Therefore, the main target of the current study was to investigate the presence of toxigenic aspergillus species in some chicken meat cuts collected from Gharbiya Governorate markets, Egypt.

Material and Methods

Collection of samples : A total of seventy-five random samples of raw chilled chicken wing, chicken thigh, chicken breast (25 of each) was collected from different local poultries shops and different supermarkets at Gharbia governorate, Egypt. Samples were taken aseptically in polyethylene bags and were transferred to the laboratory in ice box for mycological examination. Preparation of samples (ISO [9]): Twenty-five grams from each sample were carefully and aseptically homogenized in blinder after mixing with 225 ml of sterile peptone water 0.1% to form a dilution of 1:10, from which tenth fold serial dilutions were prepared.

Determination of Aspergillus species

Culture of the prepared samples was performed according to ISO [10], where 0.1ml of the previously prepared serial dilutions was spreaded by mean of sterile L-shape glass rod over two Petridishes contained solidified Dichloran Rose Bengal agar with chloramphenicol (DRBC) then were incubated at upright position at 25Oc for 5 -7 days. Identification of isolated strains was performed according to Pitt and Hocking [11] macroscopically and microscopically as recorded in Table 1. Three pairs of omtA, nor1 and ver1 primers were prepared and collected from Metabion (Germany). Their special sequence and amplify certain products as were be displayed in Table 2.

Mycological DNA was extracted following QIAamp DNeasy Plant Mini kit Catalogue no. 69104. Preparation of master mix and thermal profile was adapted according to the manufacturer instructions (Emerald Amp GT PCR mastermix (Takara) Code No. RR310A).

Results

As recorded in Table 3, Aspergillus sp. was detected in 32(42.6%) of the total examined samples. In detail, breast samples recorded the highest contamination level (48%); followed by thigh and wing samples, respectively. Regarding with the genus identification, A. niger had the highest detection levels (16%) in the examined samples (Table 4). Referring to the obtained results of molecular detection of some aflatoxin producing genes as recorded in (Table 5) and (Figures 1-3); omtA, nor1 and ver1 genes were detected in 8/10 (80%), 8/10 (80%) and 7/10 (70%) of the examined A. flavus isolates, respectively. presence of these genes indicated the producibility of the examined strain for aflatoxins P, D and M, respectively.

Discussion

Chicken meat and meat products comply an important source of human protein supplement all over the world because they provide good source of digestible protein, low cholesterol fat, essential amino acids, minerals, and different types of vitamins and minerals. In Egypt, as well as human population increasing, demand of animal proteins also is increasing represents a serious challenge in which poultry industry plays an essential role in filling nutrition gap as a rapid and more economic source of proteins (Shaltout et al. [12]). Mold contamination of meat and meat products have been considered a serious source of food spoilage resulting in different organoleptic changes in flavor, color, texture, odor referred mainly to the fungal deterioration especially in poor developing countries due to lack of hygienic measures during processing and handling (Lorenzo et al. [7]). Presence of mold in foods may be referred to the rapid, easy disperse and wide spread of the fungal spores which are abundant in the environment introducing food chain through dust, water, workers and equipment. Their presence in food samples is a serious public health concern as these fungi may be associated with the production of mycotoxins (Benedict et al. [13]). Aspergillus species represents an important mycotic infection in public health concern as a human pathogen and as toxin-producing food contaminant. It releases a lot of spores which found in air, water, soil, plant debris, manure and animal feed. As fungal spore’s growing, it secretes digestive enzyme and mycotoxins leading to food spoilage and human mycotoxicosis (Richardson and Rautemaa-Richardson [14]). Referring to the recorded results in Table 3, Aspergillus sp. was prominently detected in breast samples other than wings and thighs samples, which came in agree with the previously recorded results of Darwish et al. [15] and Shaltout et al. [16] who found that the examined breast samples were more contaminated with fungal infection than wing and thigh samples. While the current prevalence of aspergillus species in the examined samples came lower than those recorded by Hassan [17] who found Aspergillus sp. in all the examined samples (100%) collected from Gharbiya governorate, Egypt. Moreover, Abuzaid et al. [18] also detected A. flavus and A. niger in 40 and 80% of the examined sausage samples of chicken origin, respectively. Referring to the obtained results of the microbiological identification of Aspergillus sp. isolates as recorded in Table 4, they came in agree with the previously reported results by Darwish et al. [15] who found that A. niger was the predominant detected strain, followed by A. flavus and A. parasiticus in the examined samples of chicken cuts collected from Zagazig city, Egypt. Some mold species can cause respiratory infections representing a significant risk for individual with severely weakened immune system (OSHA [19]). Presence of mold in high incidence indicate bad hygienic measures adopted during handling, preparation and processing El Abbasy [20]. Mycotoxins have been defined as naturally occurring secondary fungal metabolites produced in meat and meat products by direct growth of toxigenic molds such as Aspergillus species which produce Aflatoxins and Ochratoxins which threat public health due to their carcinogenic, hepatotoxic, nephrotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic effects in human and animals Agriopoulou et al. [21]. Aflatoxins are produced by a polyketide pathway that pass through about twenty-seven enzymatic reactions which have been regulated by sets of genes including nor-1, ver-1 and omtA have been shown to be involved in this process. aflD (nor-1) encodes a norsolorinic acid ketoreductase needed for the conversion of the 10-keto group of Norsolorinic Acid (NOR) to the 10-hydroxyl group of Versicolorin A (VERA) Zhou and Linz [22]. aflM (ver-1), predicted to encode a ketoreductase, is involved in the conversion of VERA into Sterigmatocystin (ST) Henry and Townsend [23]; aflP (omtA) codes for O-methyltransferase, which is one of the main genes responsible for transforming ST into O-methylsterigmatocystin (OMST) that is the precursor for aflatoxin production Yabe et al. [24]. Many other previous studies recorded detection of these genes in their Aspergillus isolates of food origin by various PCR techniques; Manonmani et al. [25], Rodrigues et al. [26], and Hassan et al. [27], who conducted several studies investigating the aflatoxigenicity of Aspergillus sp., could detect different genes in their Aspergillus isolates [28,29].

Conclusion

It could be concluded that, breast samples revealed the highest contamination levels with Aspergillus sp.; in addition, A. niger was the prominently detected strain. PCR technique is a unique diagnostic tool for detection and identification of aflatoxigenic Aspergillus strains especially if the field of food safety. So, application of strict hygienic measures, proper use of water supply and food additives from good sources is recommended.

With his sharp mind and ability to manipulate people, plus all the contacts he got from being who he was and administrating the amount of money that he possessed, Rodolphus managed to not only multiply the family fortune, but to raise secret funds for Lord Voldemort. While his wife was the muscle and the heart, Rodolphus was the brain. He is cold and calculating. He would kill if he has to and he would cover it up so well that it would be untraceable, but he would rather let other people do the dirty work.

Whenever Rodolphus went to a mission, it’s because Voldemort personally asked him to because it had a personal significance, otherwise he would be the brains behind the operation.

Rod isn’t a sadist, he’s not interested in killing muggle-borns or half-breeds, all he truly wanted (and still wants) is power. Power is what he craves and what he oozes. In the financial business, he is known for the hostile take overs and his ruthless behavior when it comes to financial operations. There is no way a man could increase their fortune in the way he did legally, but no evidence of fraud has ever been found. Currently, Rod is still working as a financial advisor, even taking some ad-honorem cases in hopes to clean up his reputation and his family’s name. Would a Death Eater help children orphanages or half-blood entrepreneurs? Exactly.  

Another part of his agenda consists on trying to figure out how he can gain more power again and he’s seriously considering on getting involved in politics, but that’s not something that’s decided yet. Rod is a man who prefers to remain in the shadows and would rather not expose himself publicly.

Virgil had been bullied badly when he was younger. It was why he hated being around the more populated areas of the school and now basically lived in the Library as much as he could. That didn’t mean he was against making friends, just that they’d usually be the ones deciding to make friends and he just wouldn’t question it at all.

“He almost blew up the lab today. Why did I have to get partnered with someone who clearly has no regard for any form of safety? Even when I stopped him and tried to correct the experiment from where he’d mixed all the chemicals up he was literally taking the ones I was trying to return to mix together again!” Logan had been ranting for most of their breaktime by this point. Virgil didn’t really mind, and actually was kind of curious about the student in question.

He hadn’t had a class with Remus King before but already knew plenty of views about him, just because his 2 friends shared different classes with him. Logan’s complaints were always regarding some form of danger or safety protocol but Patton’s were where his interest came from.

The food technology class that Patton shared with Remus did have a lot of interesting assignments getting set at various times, including making savoury ice creams near the time of the open evenings so they could, essentially, prank the children wondering if this would be a good school for them to come to next. Patton had somehow managed to make one that tasted delicious but  Virgil still couldn’t work out if the flavour combination he’d been told Remus made only sounded disgusting or actually tasted horrible too.

“Dude, surely the teach would have stopped him if it was that dangerous.” Virgil just couldn’t be bothered to add something more to his list of reasons not to trust the teachers. It was already too long for his comfort and Logan was never one to help.

Patton at least caught onto that and came up with a subject to divert their conversation onto for the rest of their break.

The next time Virgil thought about Remus was a few days later as their lunch break ended and he was heading into the science block for his physics class. Patton hadn’t made it out to lunch that day since his food technology class was either side of it so they’d have more time for the practical lessons.

His mental image so far had been of some slightly crossed-eyed younger version of the Joker from Batman, but the boy fitting all the stories he’d heard of Remus looked nothing less than gorgeous.

“They’re from the Health and Safety state, Dude. We’re meant to have forgotten the threatening uses of knives we use in cooking unless we are the ones being threatened by them.” Virgil muttered his reply, to anxious about being noticed to say it any louder.

The only thing that seemed even remotely likely to interest Remus were the history of war books near the end of the isle but they didn’t connect to mold at all.

Virgil’s reasoning and frantic checking that he could hopefully avoid the other boy distracted him enough that he didn’t realise Remus looking through the shelves opposite him. “Stachybotrys! I found you again!” He couldn’t miss the exclamation though.

“Didn’t realise we were playing hide and seek. I thought I was writing an essay for English Lit.” Virgil hissed back, really not wanting to give the librarian any cause to kick him out.

“Ooh, what’s it on? And what’s your name? You’ve been on my mind like a mold and it would be nice to have the right name for the newest mold I’ve encountered.” Remus clearly didn’t care about making some noise although he did quiet down dramatically when he saw how uncomfortable the noise was making Virgil.

“I’m Virgil though I’m fairly sure you’ve already got my friends convinced Stachybotrys should just be a nickname for me now.”  He was actually annoyed at that.

Patton always butchered the word, and would only try to use it when mentioning how besotted he thought Remus was since the only diversion of subject in their food tech class recently had been how the molds of different foods could make people sick or kill them.

Logan on the other hand would just randomly use the name for Virgil in the hopes Remus would be somewhere close by to hear him. That had never worked since Virgil was either in class, outside to eat or in the library.

Remus peered at him a little. “Still fits though. You definitely appear like a threat but ultimately leaving the world undecided over how dangerous you are. So assuming Logan’s one of your friends, who is the other I’ve got calling you it? And do they think I have a chance at dating you?”

“Patton and are you seriously asking me if my friends think you should ask me out? Dude, if you want to date me just ask me if I want to go on a date. Or is being ridiculously convoluted a game of yours?” Virgil scolded, shaking his head, trying to decide if there was some kind of mind game happening in the moment or not.

“Okay then, Date me, Emo kid! We can go ravage a farm search for signs of mold and decay among all their crops and end with a picnic of snacks I invented recipes for in class!” Remus just shrugged at the tone, moving on to what was requested of him,

That was even further from Virgil’s expectations of the response than Logan saying Remus was set on finding him had been. Most people were at least a little put off by how harshly he reacted whe uncertain of situations. “Can we start with the food? My brain will just panic over how I could die from being close to mold and then eating if we do it your way round.”

“Of course we can. Let’s meet at Gorse Hill farm at like 2pm on Saturday for our date then!” Remus jumped up from his spot then, a wild grin on his face as he waved, heading off. “Can’t wait for it, Stachbotrys.”

(A/N): Hello there, lovelies!

Lately I know that I have been awfully annoying, and again... it isn’t an easy week this one, so I wanted to publish something more to make up for it and brighten your mood.

This is honestly a crack fight, about something that sadly all us girls go through so I thought it’d be a cute idea to post and brighten the mood.

Also this was inspired by an ask I saw answered on @laketaj24​ about Vikings being scared or not by the hair ‘down there’, so I just wanted to give her credit and now I’ll shut up and leave you to read this!

Being a girl was a constant pain in the ass.

Not only you were paid less than men and you had to deal with a culture in which rape jokes were considered funny, but you were also held to incredible high standards to satisfy.

And one of this was for your skin to be soft and shaven like the a child’s one.

No hair should be left on any part of your body, although it was much more natural than clean shaven and helped from infections and such.

And worst of all, whereas you had to be perfectly cured, men could literally appear everywhere with uncured beards, chest-hair and worst of all… pubic hair that hadn’t seen a drop of water in years.

And yet, you had to be the perfect one.

And you didn’t mind it, you had always liked to keep yourself clean, appreciating the feeling of shaven legs, also because it was much easier than everything else, with the use of creams and a razor.

But the thing between your legs was another question.

A bigger problem.

Meanwhile you had dealt the entirety of your life as a single girl with your razor, hoping that the bikini bottom you had chosen would cover everything else, because… Gosh wouldn’t it have been a tragedy for a man to see a pubic hair?

Hadn’t they been born in the same state.

But as soon as you had gotten a boyfriend and started fooling around, the thing between your legs had to be clean-shaven and thankfully Elaine, your best friend, was quite handy with wax and, although it hurt like a bitch, you always made sure to keep yourself ‘clean’ for your rendez-vous.

Just for most time to be left unsatisfied because they either were as big as a peanut down there or they didn’t know what a clitoris was.

So, slowly you had allowed yourself to become quite ‘wild’ down there, not interested enough in anyone.

Till you had met Ivar.

And you had gladly put yourself through the torture of the wax again, because your newest boyfriend was a literal god with his tongue, not to talk about his reanimated member…

But yet, waxing and such wasn’t something that you were handy in doing on your own, ending up relying on someone else, either a beautician or Elaine, and this week you had an appointment with the latter, but sadly Elaine had cancelled it at the last moment.

Apparently, she had gotten a last-minute date.

‘He is a hunk’ she had spoken excited with you, as she got herself ready for a date.

‘Yeah, but… Elaine… I honestly need a waxing… you have no idea the situation I have down there’ and the situation in which your relationship with Ivar was.

It had been three weeks since the last time you had had sex, him busy with his own things at work and you insecure about your bush down there “… can’t you reprogram the date?’.

‘Said from the one who left me for a stranger…’ mumbled pointedly Elaine, before sweetening the tone ‘… I won’t be able to sadly do anything before the weekend, but I’ll have a spot for you, for sure!’.

And like that the line had gone dead, and you had been left wondering whether you should attempt to shave your entire ‘bush’ or hope that it’d magically disappear.

But as you hadn’t taken a choice, you heard the door opening signaling that Ivar was back, and you were met with a dark stare of lust as he caught you in your most discarded state of mind, still in your pajama and with your hair in a messy bun.

And it wasn’t that you didn’t want to have sex with him.

In fact, you felt a wave of warmth as he immediately came over to you to drop a small kiss on your lips, languid and teasing, as he molded softly his lips against yours, before retreating softly, as he caressed your lips with his, before separating as his hands moved lower.

And you stopped them.

You felt damnably insecure of letting them see you in such a state, mostly because of the prejudices you had made your own about not shaving and your own ‘bush’.

Maybe Ivar would be disgusted, he’d probably think that it was a sign of bad hygiene.

God only knew how much he liked keeping everything neat…

‘… I think we need to talk’ he mumbled softly, as he retreated lightly and you breathed out heavily, aware that sexuality wasn’t something he was comfortable with and to be straight up rejected like that was making him overthink the entire situation.

“Ivar it isn’t you…”.

“But it’s me, right?” his voice was more aggressive than you liked so you just sent a look on his way to tell him to ‘tone it down’ “… I am… sorry, but I just can’t believe you… is sex with me… awful?”.

“No no!” you immediately denied, coming closer to him, as you both sat down on the sofa, touching his chest gently and made sure to hold eye-contact, something that never failed to make Ivar understand you were speaking truthfully “… the sex with you is amazing… Gosh even better than I thought it was possible…”.

“Then why do you keep on denying me?” frustration was evident in Ivar’s tone, although he was trying to keep calm “… because if it isn’t awful… then…”.

“I haven’t shaved in three weeks down there” you mumbled softly, completely disrupting whatever Ivar was going to add, as he was left with his mouth open and confused, almost as if he was trying to piece together what you had just said, before closing his mouth and opening it again.

“… and that is the reason why you don’t want to have sex?” and as you nodded slowly, he erupted in laughter “… Gosh, sweetheart, I don’t care”:

“Ivar…” you tried not to whack him across the face “… the situation is bad… like bad”.

“… again… babe… it isn’t a problem” now he didn’t have that teasing tone anymore, dead serious, as a hand shot out to one of yours “… I don’t… I don’t think that it’d make me feel less attracted to you”.

“As much as I appreciate it, Ivar” you mumbled pushing him slightly away “… you don’t know the situation”.

“Then let me see” now that awful damned smirk was back on his face and you couldn’t help but blush lightly “… c’mon it isn’t anything that I haven’t seen before!”.

“… stop being a smartass” you huffed out, lightly.

“And you stop denying me that precious thing between your legs” he contrasted you, and this time you did deliver a light whack across his chest “… babe, I know that you want it… and you shouldn’t be that insecure, you are the only one for whom I can get it up… quite literally”.

“You are awful” you commented, but still raised up and lowered lightly your panties and pants to let him see as you closed your eyes, lightly, worried about his judgement and as you were met with only silence, you almost thought that in the end he was disgusted, like all the others.

But then his hands gently got your pants and panties lower, as they pushed you closer to him, till his head could nestle between your legs, making you moan out at the first flick of his tongue and finally your eyes opened to see an extremely focused Ivar, quickly slithering his tongue between your legs.

And your hands almost as if it was second nature to you, grabbed onto his sleek hair to bring him closer.

He kept up his ministrations, his gaze completely unchanged by the other times he had done the same when the nest between your legs was solely sleek.

As if he didn’t seem to find any difference.

And you were glad.

Once everything was finished, multiple rounds later, because not having sex for three weeks brought out every frustration of you both, Ivar brought you closer as you softly mumbled into him, tired after all the ‘physical activity’ and mumbled.

‘… I am not saying that you shouldn’t shave it…” he whispered, as you giggled ‘…but I certainly don’t mind the bush, it’s actually cute”.

Well, apparently, also the ‘bush’ had its perks.

my post was about the shocked reactions people all over the world were apparently having to American ads for prescription drugs played on the break during the Meghan Markle interview.

the point I was trying to make is that the avalanche of consumer ads for prescription medicine is yet another insane hallmark of the profit-driven US healthcare system which most people fortunately do not experience and no one seems to fully understand.

I feel this one detail helps to breach the facade shielding the dystopian reality which divides us, and it helps to explain for many why the United States has been especially crippled by the effects of the global pandemic. the suffering, deprivation and cruelty of our health infrastructure is an essential feature of capitalism, not a glitch. For many people it has been a time of reckoning.

so this worthless asshole clearly decided now was the time to plant his racist flag - he messaged several times over two days, then I guess he got upset with what I was saying and blocked me.

Can your socialist BS. The ads/big pharma are separate from or profit medicine. What harmed US medicine was result of democrat politicians copying Europe’s socialists that treated citizens rights with contempt. In the past US medicine was the envy of the world, British, Europeans, Canadians many others would travel here to receive care. Dems blocked enforcement of immigration laws hospitals went bankrupt and taxpayer funded medicaid was overburdened. Just as the influx of tens of millions of illegal aliens and migrants caused rents to skyrocket and wages to be dragged down. Hospital based infection skyrocketed as well hospitals started hiring illegal aliens who did not follow cleaning rules. These infections weren’t new, they are the norm in Latin America and other third world countries. Years later these hospital infections started showing up. Obamacare requires doctors under threat of fines to refuse to perform some diagnostic testing on some patients. Socialist and communist countries have even worse outcomes. And Britain and Europe are experiencing the results of 3rd world imported substandard doctors and nurses.

How exactly do you control your own labor if you are forced to sell it to the lowest bidder, competing against millions of others? If a business lays you off or goes bankrupt due to mismanagement, market fluctuations, accidents or a natural disaster, your labor then becomes worthless. The choice you are given as an employee or contractor unsupported by social welfare programs is "accept whatever pathetic wage we decide your labor and time is worth" or "lose your home and starve to death".

Your idea of "control" is an illusion in an economic system where human survival is based on abritrary market conditions and greed rather than the quality of life itself.

"Big pharma came about under globalism, globalism is Trotskyite international communism." - are you suggesting that some of the largest and most profitable companies on earth are the result of a global, communist conspiracy? Johnson & Johnson, Bayer AG, GSK and others follow the corporate conglomeration and consolidation model pioneered and perfected by 19th and 20th century capitalists and industrialists like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, William Hearst, and Cornelius Vanderbilts. Hardly a group of jaded communist revolutionaries.

The multinational companies they founded and combined have systematically destroyed competition within their respective industries, forced both their consumers and employees to accept substandard, dangerous products and poverty wages, then used their wealth to influence both conservative and liberal politicians to deregulate industries and labor laws for their own benefit. All done by willing and eager students of Adam Smith, not Karl Marx.

These manufacturers left America to gild their pockets by voluntarily exploiting the workers of countries that do not have labor laws, have substandard or nonexistent environmental protections, and would accept even lower wages than Americans. They could have easily remained in the US, paid higher wages to American workers, followed the most basic regulations, and still would have made obscene levels of profit - the demand of shareholders for more profit motivated the outsourcing of US jobs, not because a spineless corporate lackey like Bill Clinton forced them to.

At the same time, NAFTA enabled US agribusiness to flood the Mexican and Central American economy with cheap, government-subsidized corn - instantly destroying the ability of Mexican farms to collectively set fair prices, driving millions facing starvation and poverty into cities and ultimately North into the United States. It's pretty ironic that your illegal immigration crisis was created by massive corporations supported by the US government, but I guess that's inconvenient history for you.

Again, this is another pretty obvious feature of capitalism, not communism or socialism. Businesses have a natural tendency to cut expenses and maximize profit any way they can. In an actual socialist system, there would be no incentive to do that - healthcare and medicine would be provided as a right, rather than a paid-for privilege as exists in our current system. Workers would not have to compete with each other to survive if their basic needs were provided for.

Also just thought you should know, the FDA regulations apply both to drugs that are imported just as they are to drugs that are manufactured in the US. Furthermore, there would be no FDA at all without American socialists, reformers and consumer advocates pressuring Congress into creating it - not sure how you can pretend otherwise. It was made specifically to address how the 19th-20th century market failed to "self-regulate", resulting in toxic food and drugs manufactured here, in the US.

Diseases like the coronavirus are inevitable - the US has failed to respond effectively because our for-profit healthcare system does not have a market incentive to create stockpiles or public infrastructure to combat an outbreak, whether it's from China or Cleveland, Ohio.

People from other countries know how to wash their hands. They know how to clean. You have absolutely no evidence which would dispute that, just your own feelings and the idea that filthy brown people caused this totally avoidable disaster rather than a lack of basic planning.

Finally, when people are sickened by improperly cleaned equipment or tainted food and medicine, it is the result of a failure by the manufacturer or producer to properly train and supply their facilities out of negligence, to save on operating expenses, or because they ignore existing regulations and are not penalized for doing so - not because there is an army of dirty, ignorant Mexicans at the controls. Untrained, underpaid, and unsupervised workers will have a greater tendency to make mistakes regardless of if they are White Americans or immigrants.

"Facts" and "truth"? I don't see anything besides your own personal bias, poor logic and uncited bullshit that you have no proof of. The American healthcare system and things like advertising for drugs on TV are mocked and reviled across the rest of the world because people can clearly see how vulnerable it is to inevitable pandemics like this.

But I guess there will always be people like you who are happy to ignore reality and instead demonize normal working people for fleeing their capitalist-raped economies and come here in an attempt to provide for their families - exactly the same thing you would do in their situation.
