If you're sorta making this into a vtuber account i might as well ask you, with those pngtuber models, do you have a guide on how to get started with them? Also, do characters need to have humanlike face proportions to be able to like, work correctly? What if you wanted to make a bird, where the mouth is like really long and beak shaped? Would that be a problem for the honk stuff?
God this looks incomprehensible, sorry
not incomprehensible at all! whenever i get a chance i would definitely love to put together tutorials, both quick step-by-step guides and longer videos (bc idk about you but for me, the ideal is when BOTH types of tutorial exist lmao!!!)
in the meantime, there are tons of tutorials that already exist on youtube for pngtubing, and a few for setting up in honk specifically, but i'm not sure how many exist for best ways to actually draw the model and organize parts (layer organization etc) and stuff like that bc i didn't look for those when i was getting started. when i get around to it any guides i make will probably be more about that than the tech stuff, bc other people already have the tech covered!
honk has documentation/guides of its own, and the community page on itch.io can be really good for troubleshooting specific issues. honk is my primary recommendation if you want to get into pngtubing -- the program is paid ($12 USD) and model setup is a bit more laborious, but only in the beginning, and i think the liveliness of the lip sync and the eye tracking is well worth it! a downside is that honk doesn't currently have gif support, which a lot of other pngtubing programs do have, but there are plans to add it in the future.
this is the method i've used for setting up a discord reactive pngtuber (the second method on the page, "stream kit reactive images" - i know it may seem like a lot of steps, but if you take your time and follow the instructions closely it's not so bad! i am NOT tech savvy and still figured it out, so anyone can.) you only need discord and OBS to run this setup, and you can fiddle with it to do collabs (multiple people's pngtubers all on screen at the same time, lighting up and talking while you're in a discord call! fun for multiplayer games), but of course it can also be your main setup with just you alone in a private voice channel as your mic input.
and a good middle ground between honk and the discord reactive setup would be a program like veadotube mini! it does the same thing as the discord reactive setup (display a talk sprite when you're talking and a silent one when you're not), but in a self-contained program on your computer just like honk. i haven't used veadotube myself, but i see other pngtubers mention it as their program of choice.
i do have one video up of myself rigging my model in honk -- i wouldn't call it a guide or a tutorial though, because it's very informal and we also ran into a pretty annoying bug that made the process go less smoothly than i would have hoped :') (also the first few mins of video are muted bc my music got dmca flagged lmfao but the important stuff is all there!) but anyway if you just want a quick look at how a model looks getting put together in the program you might find that interesting.
you could ABSOLUTELY do something like the bird u described in honk, it's really really flexible. the way honk works is u just have to have different images drawn for different lip synch mouth shapes (try googling "animation lip sync mouth shapes" and check out the image results for an idea of what i mean), assign them to different consonant/vowel sounds in the program, and it automatically matches it up for you with voice recognition. so imo the challenge in that case would be an art challenge (figure out how you want to draw lip sync shapes with a beak), not a technical/program-specific challenge. but if you didn't feel like fucking with all that, you could just repeatedly use the same open beak image for all the sounds, and it would just make the beak open and close when you talk!
i haven't tried making a honk model where the mouth breaks the silhouette, which might be the case with a bird character like that depending on how you have the head angled, but theoretically i don't see why it would be an issue. a regular pngtuber would be really straightforward as well!

Default CC Won’t Load/Show in game?
Hello, I am having trouble getting “Default Replacements” to load in game.
My install of TS3 is less than a week old. I have all of the packs, patch 1.67, Windows 11.
I have added other CC and Mods of different file types (sims3pack, .package) successfully, but anytime I attempt to add a “Default Replacement” it does not show/load in the game.
The all of the CC and Mods that I am using is newly downloaded and patch appropriate. Everything else loads without any problems, All I am trying to do is add a Default Skin and Default Eyes, one file of each.
Both are .package files. I added them to my Sims 3/Packages/Mods folder and I also tried placing them in my overrides folder and I received the same result. Could it be something in the config or resource file that needs to be changed to accept Default Replacements? I’m not sure what else it could be.
I have also read through the FAQ, troubleshooting and how to install cc and other similar articles on the Sims Wiki. I’m not currently the most tech savvy but I can learn and follow instructions, if anyone would like to help me. Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Hello, thank you for messaging us, and thank you for all the game info.
As far as Custom Content goes, there can be several things causing the inability to load.
Sometimes it's as simple as Clearing cache from The Sims 3 folder. It is recommended to clear it every time the player adds new or removes any Mods or Custom Content.
All CC in .package form goes only into The Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder, or another folder within the Packages one if you're organising your files. Remove it from the Overrides folder.
Is your Resource.cfg file within your Mods folder?
Should none of the tips above work, move out your Mods folder to another safe place (say, Desktop, another Drive or external disk). Clear the cache again. Generate a new Mods folder by downloading one from Mod The Sims, or from SimFileShare created by SimsPlayer. MTS has detailed instructions on what their folder contains, SimsPlayer's quote on their folder: It has a resource.cfg file, an Overrides folder with Ccmerged.package file from NonaMena and ContentPatch.package from ZeeGee Sims. As well as some sub-folders you can add custom content and mods to. All that is included is nointro.package and NoBuildSparkles.package. –It works with All Sims 3 versions.
Place the new Mods folder into The Sims 3 folder. Next up, start adding .package files one by one to test them out. Use just one file to test if the game will recognize it. Of course, clear cache files before starting the game up.
5. In doing so, please make sure to check your files aren't compressed, zipped or actually CC for The Sims 2 or The Sims 4.
If nothing works, please get back to us with the new information from these things, so we could figure something else out. Below I'll leave you some website, forums questions and tips to check out just in case:

Would Rose be good with computers? Would he be able to fix one, or would he be helplessly trying to find someone to help him fix it? (Sorry for this mega self-indulgent ask, my computer crashed today and I am losing it)
Oh no!! I'm so sorry that happened!
I feel like he's fairly tech savvy? He maybe wouldn't be able to fix it as in repair it completely if that's what it takes, but he can definitely troubleshoot and find the problem with relative ease. He's a strategist, so he's good at getting to the root of the problem and solving it.

"Realizations After Knowing Different Terminologies in ICT"
Throughout my journey in Empowerment Technology, I've come to realize that the terminologies used in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are not just words, but keys to unlocking a deeper understanding of the digital world.
In this ever-evolving digital age, understanding these terminologies is akin to learning a new language. It's the language of the future, one that will enable us to communicate more effectively, solve problems more efficiently, and innovate more creatively. They've allowed me to navigate the complex networks of information and communication with a newfound confidence. And I am excited to continue this journey of learning.
"The Importance of Knowing Different Terminologies of ICT"
In Empowerment Technology, I've learned that knowing the different terminologies of ICT is not just about being tech-savvy, it's about being a responsible and informed digital citizen.
These terms are the building blocks of our digital conversations. They help us understand and engage with technology more effectively. Whether we're protecting our data online, troubleshooting a network issue, or simply browsing the web, these terminologies guide our interactions and decisions in the digital world.
In essence, knowing these terminologies is not just important, it's essential. It empowers us to navigate the digital world with confidence, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning, especially to us student.

Hello I got an answer from the EA team and I didn’t read It correctly the first time. I’ve got banned because of 4 problematic Sims. What the problematic thing about the for Sims is they didn’t say. They’ll keep me banned and I’ll probably lose a lot of Sims.
I begged them to not delete them, so I can save them to my library or to my computer. But no comment….
Tumblr media
I'm also going to put your previous messages here ^ so I can respond!
I am so sorry for your situation, genuinely. Did they tell you which specific sims/gallery posts led to the ban? Even if they didn't tell you why there were problematic, if you know which posts caused the ban I might be able to look at them and tell you what the gallery might have constituted as "problematic."
Also, are they holding firm that you won't be able to buy games in the future, or have they at least resolved that? Have you heard back from them since you asked to save your sims? Not to be a negative nelly, but I am not surprised they're not being super empathetic. This is just... how these big corporations are. Never super helpful, but it sucks and I am really sorry.
More under the cut  ↓
Tumblr media
This game is buggy af and truly, it might not even be something you did. I call it a trashcan with a Gucci belt because that's what it has become. I love the Sims, it holds a special and nostalgic place in my heart, but boy oh boy does the Sims 4 piss me off on a daily basis so I get where you're coming from (lol).
Unfortunately, it sounds like your save files are corrupted. It could have been a mod that broke them, it could have been an update on EA's end, it could be a number of things causing your problem... but I don't think there's any fix outside of cleaning your cache files, removing all mods and CC, repairing your game through the EA app, creating a brand new save, and seeing if the issue persists after doing all that. From my research, it seems some players had a similar issue to what you're describing after the integration of Snowy Escape (there's a whole thread from 2020 on Answers HQ).
Alternatively, if you have or had any custom content food stalls in your game older than 2022, they will break your save file, even if you remove your mods/the custom stalls after the issue presents itself. If you have loaded the game with the custom food stalls and have since saved with that CC still in your game, the save file remains broken forever. This actually was caused by the My Wedding Stories Atrocity errr... Pack. Here's a Answers HQ thread on that.
Either way, something likely permanently corrupted your saves. On the bright side, it might not be the Sims themselves that are broken! Here are two answers HQ threads that are all about troubleshooting broken, irreparable saves: Thread 1, Thread 2. I'm sure there's something in there that could help you. I also think, if your saves are corrupted but not your sims, you could probably save a copy of your tray folder to your desktop before factory resetting the game, and then you wouldn't lose your sims because you could just copy and paste the tray files back into your fresh game. It's worth going in, saving the the townies you don't want to lose to your library, saving and exiting your game, then making that copy of the folder just in case.
Worst case scenario, your game is still having issues and you know the sims themselves are corrupted. Best case scenario, and in my opinion the more likely one, you find that the issue is gone once the game is repaired and all the broken saves have been removed and then you still have all those sims you love without the bug itself.
I've rambled so much, I apologize! I hope some resource I've given you has been helpful. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, I'm not tech-savvy lol but I am genuinely happy to help you to the best of my ability. If you Google "Food stalls and curio shop only selling produce sims 4" you will find so many different people with the same issue you have.
In the future, I think the best tips I can give are:
Save modded sims with an abundance of CC to your library, not to the gallery. If you wish to share your sims that use cc, the gallery is not an effective place to do this.
Always keep your Mods folder organized - keep mods in their own labeled distinct folders and keep CC in its own distinct folders. CC can even have subfolders! I will put an example of this at the end of this list, but this is really important because it makes it easier to not only find issues if they arise, but also makes it easier to stay on top of keeping your mods up to date.
To piggy-back off that last point: keep your mods up to date. A broken mod can corrupt a whole save file if you're not careful.
Remove mods and cc before you update your game. Only place them back in once you know it is safe to do so and all your mods have been updated. Play with modded objects at your own risk, but know they might corrupt an entire save.
Regularly clear your cache files, especially after altering your mods folder by removing or adding a new mod.
I also recommend creating a subfolder in your cc folder called "New CC - [Month]" That way if your game starts acting funky suddenly, you can start with that folder. For me, that's roughtly 40 items that could be the problem as opposed to hundreds of files.
I know that is a lot, but playing with Mods and CC is something that does take some level of proactive vigilance. If TS4 wasn't constantly barfing up bullshit updates and bug fixes on players at every possible opportunity, it wouldn't be as tedious of a commitment...but that's just what we have to deal with.
Here's how I have my main MODS folder organized:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's one example of the subfolders I use specifically in CAS - CC:
Tumblr media
Anyway, all that to say I am so sorry for your situation. I hope you can get some level of these issues solved, but if not I hope you can still play your game and make the best of a situation that is out of your control. It sucks, and I'm sending you some virtual hugs (or high fives if that is more your thing).

That IT mess is just as bad as the one my manager has. New computer has so many problems that the old one didn't. And IT can't/won't solve it.
🐘
it's sooooo frustrating!!! I get that they're used to fixing minor issues. I'm sure 95% of the issues they get are minor. This is an office where I routinely impress older coworkers by knowing how to connect a conference room in a hybrid meeting. They probably spend all day getting calls about people who don't know how to connect their wifi or restart the computer.
But like, at some point people DO have issues with their computers that cannot be fixed with "here, let me reset your PIN and then restart the computer three times!" <- actual thing they did for me once that did not, in fact, fix a single thing.
It also frustrates me because I cannot do anything to help myself. I'm not a particularly IT-savvy person, but I do know how to go into settings. I'm familiar with various control panel stuff. I have troubleshooted my person computer many times with stuff off the internet. I understand why they can't let all of us just troubleshoot our own computers, because eventually someone will mess something up or idiotically install a virus onto the computer and leak information. I get that.
But dude when my Teams wasn't playing audio, I couldn't even run the audio test on my computer. You know, the one that just plays a noise and is like "did you hear the noise that just played?" like i need admin approval and the admin password to mess with ANYTHING. the only settings i have any control at all over is whether the computer is in dark mode or light mode lol. so it's equally annoying that they won't help me but i also am locked out of every avenue of helping myself

Final Post
Financial Five Reflection:
While reflecting back on this project, it was relieving to be able to work with a group that was easy to work with and were all on the same page. Regardless of not all being in the same city we were able to accommodate each other's schedule and work around each other's schedule when need be.
Our group for this project sought out to create a visual that would bring more awareness to the fact of economic inequality affecting black musicians across the United States. We ended up deciding to go with an interactive map/website in order to make the information as easy to navigate as possible and the most readable. I would say with the way we were able to work together we were able to accomplish what we sought out to do. Although, the overall design and flow of the website and idea may have changed over the course of development the overall goal stayed the same throughout.
While having this course be asynchronous, on top of working and one in person class, it reinforced communication skills and attempted to get ahead of a problem or if I knew I was not able to attend a meeting because of another obligation. Another skill that I saw the process of was building a website, although I am not tech savvy and could hardly help, seeing the website come together gave me an idea of what to do and how accessible the tools to do so are.
Troubleshooting and improvising was not too much of a challenge within our group, when one had another obligation, another would pick up the slack and so forth. Not to mention, the communication within the crew was better than I have had with groups in the past with online classes. I really enjoyed working with this group and felt more of a collaborative project by choice than an assignment needing to be turned in, which added to the ease of communication.
E-Portfolio Grade:
For the e-portfolio I would give myself a 9 out of 10, as I have never been technologically savvy, and this project allowed me to explore a new skill although I may not have been able to execute everything I had wanted to. I had put in the most effort I could have but could have asked for extra help in terms of construction of the website.

This week's Episode 5 of The Savvy Property Investors Show focuses “PROPERTY SUCCESS WITH THE HELP OF PROPERTY VA’S” with special guest: CRISTINA OSBORNE
DO YOU KNOW:
If a VA will help you succeed in property?
How this thinking will lead to failure and frustration.
How systemised outsourcing will help you leverage VAs smartly to help you do more and achieve more in property.
This week’s podcast episode covers all this and more.
Cristina Osborne is based in West Yorkshire, England. She runs a property investment business Houseborne Ltd with her husband Stephen Osborne. Houseborne Ltd builds new homes for local council housing associations.
Cristina also runs The Property VA providing outsourcing solutions for UK property investors. She hold a weekly training program for Filipino VAs to learn how to find property deals for their property investor clients. Cristina has been invited to speak at property networking events with Wealth Builders, Cogito Wealth and 90 Day Planning.
For 2023, in addition to working on new build developments, Cristina has set up an introduction company connecting small to medium house builders in the UK with private financiers via private equity and HNW investors.
Most property investors understand how leveraging a virtual assistant can help them do more and achieve more in property.
However, most PIs do not know where to begin finding, hiring and working with VAs and this usually results in a frustrating and costly experience.

Pinebook Pro Struggles
My Pinebook Pro has been riding the struggle bus lately. It's at the point where I'm starting to think that I need to drop Manjaro XFCE on it and start considering a different operating system in the hopes that what I'm experiencing are OS issues rather than device or firmware issues. This wouldn't exactly be new territory for me, as just a couple of months ago I finally gave up on using Manjaro XFCE on my Star Lite laptop. I simply ran into too many bugs with Manjaro and swapped to Xubuntu, where things have been going much more smoothly for me. I'm not confident that an OS swap will fix what I'm experiencing now, though.
Initially, Manjaro was a significant step up for my Pinebook Pro, which is old enough that I received it running the old Debian image that was so highly customized that a sizable number of software packages on it couldn't be updated, making it a security breach waiting to happen. After seeing the amount of love that Manjaro was getting in the Pine64 community, though, and how invested the Manjaro folks seemed to be in working well with the Pinebook Pro hardware, it seemed like a smart move. When Manjaro KDE became the default OS on new Pinebook Pro units, I decided to flash Manjaro XFCE onto my device's eMMC. It was exciting to go from not being able to update anything to having updates available constantly. I'd typically only use my device once or twice a week, and basically every time I fired it up there would be a significant number of updates available.
The honeymoon didn't last forever, though. One of the initial issues I saw was with respect to the battery. Unlike Debian, Manjaro features both a "Suspend" and "Hibernate" mode for sleeping the device. To my understanding, Suspend is supposed to remove power from most of the hardware but keeps the RAM warm to facilitate waking seamlessly and rapidly, though this obviously comes at the cost of draining the battery more to keep the RAM powered up. When using Suspend, I could let the device sit for about a day and half before it would be completely drained. Hibernate, on the other hand, writes the content of RAM to the swap space -- enabling Hibernate will actually fail if you've forgotten to create a swap space -- to save on power but still allow for the state of the device to be saved. That being said, if you don't have any applications waiting between sessions, the time to return from Hibernate and to boot from being fully powered off is, to the best that I can tell, exactly the same. As a result, I'm better off simply shutting my device down between uses.
While the battery can cause annoyance, I've since discovered far more significant issues. One is that the wireless NIC is periodically not recognized by the operating system when I either boot or wake the device. It'll simply show that no network devices are available, and using the XFCE UI to toggle networking off and back on makes no difference. If I was more savvy in the realm of Manjaro/Arch, I may be able to do some further troubleshooting via the CLI. Given that Debian-based distros are my forte, though, I typically just reboot and hope for the best since that's faster than grabbing another device which is connected to the Internet in order to start looking up solutions. A reboot will typically fix the issue, but not always. Earlier this week, I had the exact same behavior after a reboot. At that point I just shut down my Pinebook Pro and used another device for what I wanted to do. I left the device off until I decided to write this post, and I was happy that after a few days of sitting in the corner my laptop was able to connect to WiFi once again.
The firmware woes don't end there, unfortunately. The trackpad on the Pinebook Pro has always been a bit of an issue, with a very noticeable latency when using it that made precise movements very difficult. Clicking large buttons on web pages was simple, for example, while clicking the small x buttons in XFCE to close application was a struggle... especially for applications which weren't fullscreen, meaning that the button wasn't forced into the top-right corner of the screen. I had hoped that this problem was about to be solved a few months ago when new firmware was released that dramatically reduced the latency. After following the well-written community documentation to go through the slightly nerve wracking process of flashing the new firmware -- which included a small but non-zero chance that the ability to use the trackpad could be completely bricked -- things were working much better for me... until they weren't.
While the new firmware worked great most of the time, I started to periodically see problems where touching the trackpad with my finger would cause the cursor to "jolt" as if simply touching the surface were registering that I moved my finger about an inch or so either up or down. This wouldn't typically manifest itself immediately after a wake or boot, but would randomly crop up after I had been using the device for some time. When it happened, though, it made using the device nearly impossible. While I could fight against it to move the cursor where I needed it to be, lifting my finger off the trackpad and then tapping down to register a click would cause the cursor to jump either up or down, meaning that I was clicking on either 1.) nothing or 2.) the wrong thing. At that point, I was back to struggling to interface with the device enough to reboot it and hoping for the best after that.
While trying to write this post the first time, I ran into yet another issue which may be related to the last problem and may be something entirely new. While using the Tumblr web UI to write the post, my device suddenly kicked me back to the login screen as if I had opted to lock the screen. Weird. I tried to enter my password in order to log in only to discover that the keyboard wasn't working. I could still use the trackpad to move the mouse cursor, but tapping on it would no longer register as a click. I eventually discovered that I could still physically press the trackpad to click and used that to just reboot the device rather than running off to dig up an external keyboard that I could connect. The reboot once again seems to have restored functionality, though I lost all of the blog content that I had written.
While I'd like to switch operating systems and get away from Manjaro since that made my life significantly better on my Star Lite, I'm at least a little concerned that my issues are mostly firmware related and may not be fixed by a different flavor of Linux. If I do switch to anything different, I'd prefer it to be Armbian since I'm most familiar with Debian-based distros.
It's also worth mentioning in closing that trying to use the device in the way that I am is explicitly not what the Pinebook Pro is designed for. It's meant to be used by people wanting to do things with the ARM processor, and bugs like this are something to be expected in a community effort this large. I definitely don't mean to throw shade at the work anyone in the Pine64 or Manjaro communities is doing; it's my issue for how I'm wanting to use the device. I'm still hoping, though, that I can find a configuration a bit more stable so that I can basically have a Linux laptop that amounts to a full POSIX-compliant terminal and a decent web browser.

Hey Hannah, so I’m kinda new to tumblr and was reading your stuff on my phone and tried to access your master list. You have all of your work in the master list but it’s hard to get to them when there is not link attached, just the title of the work. If there was a way to tap on your the work. Tysm if you read that sorry! ❣️💞
Tumblr media
Hey thanks for letting me know about this! (They are links works I have already written and posted!) I am kind of unsure how to fix the problem after looking into it a little bit because the links work for me when I check them on other accounts. I guess the only troubleshooting I know of (because oh my God I am not tech savvy at all) is to make sure it is viewed on mobile. This is not helpful because it seems like it is happening for a lot of people. I’m so sorry.
If anyone knows any way to fix this, PLEASE let me know omg. I am very lost...

[𝓫𝓵𝓸𝓰 𝓽𝔀𝓸]   My Top Five I.T. Career Choices
Tumblr media
Are you a current or aspiring student of the information technology department? Are you having trouble with what job to take once you’ve completed your four years of torture college? If that’s two yeses, you’re in luck because in this blog post, I’ll be sharing with you the possible careers I’m considering on taking after I graduate.
But before that, let me share with you how I became a part of the Computer Studies department in the first place!
A Back Story of My Career Dilemmas
Tumblr media
Roughly three years ago, upon approaching my senior high school years, I was dead set on taking the path towards becoming a lawyer. Hence, I enrolled under the Humanities and Social Sciences strand. (I no longer remember why I wanted to take up law though.) A few self-evaluations later, I realized I wanted to become a medical professional, specifically a neurosurgeon. I can attribute this to familial expectations, the many Korean dramas I watched, and my desire to improve the country’s healthcare system, to help people, and to be one of the few doctors with nice handwriting. And so, I shifted to the STEM strand up until I graduated.
During my last few months in senior high, I underwent personal dilemmas on what I really wanted. Amidst my extended family’s career expectations for me, my wise mother constantly reminded me the reality of medical professionals’ work. She emphasized the importance of your college program being a product of your own choice rather than everyone else’s expectations. And so, I was no longer sure of what program to take in college. At this point, I was already panicking, especially after seeing how confident my peers were with what career they had in mind. All I knew is that I was completely clueless of what to become and that I am a fairly versatile individual who always tries her best in whatever situation and opportunity she’s thrown in. (I’m known to be a jack-of-all-trades type of person.)
Seeing my struggle, my mom recommended me to consider the I.T. field. As a college professor and her university’s official representative to local and international seminars, she has witnessed and understood the potential and significance of professions under this field. Although hesitant at first—mostly because I haven’t been too exposed to opportunities that allow me to acquire advanced computer-related  skills (not including the ones I learned in my basic education’s computer classes)— I gave her suggestion some thought and decided that I shall take up the challenge.
And so, here I am, enrolled as a Computer Science student in the tech savvy Malayan Colleges Mindanao.
My Top Five I.T. Career Choices
Before anything else, allow me to explain briefly about the I.T. field that I plan to be a part of. This is for you to be able to catch up with what I’m trying to say, especially since there are going to be various technical terms from here on. And who knows? I might spark your interest in giving this career path a try!
According to Computer Science Online, the information technology industry operates across a range of industries, such as healthcare, finance, education, and entertainment. Broadly, information technology can be defined as the use of computing via various components (e.g. hardware, services, software) to develop, manage, transform, share and store information in different forms. Careers in information technology deal with the design, creation, management, and maintenance of the varied components of the system, including software, hardware, networks, systems integration, and multimedia.
     [1]   COMPUTER PROGRAMMER
Tumblr media
The number one thing that I absolutely want to become is to be a computer programmer.
Following Technopedia’s definition, a computer programmer is a skilled professional who codes, tests, debugs, and maintains the comprehensive instructions known as computer programs that devices should follow to execute their functions. Computer programmers also conceptualize, design, and test logical structures to solve computer issues. Programmers make use of specific computer languages like C, C++, Java, PHP, .NET, etc. to convert the program designs developed by software developers or system architects into instructions that the computer could follow. They often refer to code libraries for simplifying their coding and might build or make use of computer-aided software tools to automate the coding.
I’ve always been awestruck of how coding works. It amazes me how a series of words and symbols arranged in a definite order will result to apps, websites, and other various software—even this word document I’m using under Microsoft Office! It’s surreal how each element of this software functions in such a smart and creative manner, especially when you know it as merely words and symbols in its raw form. I want to be able to do this by developing and learning all the knowledge and skills a good programmer should possess. Afterall, one should aim for excellence first; success will follow.
     [2]   SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
Tumblr media
Another career that I would love to have is to be a software developer.
According to CollegeGrad, software developers are the creative minds behind computer programs. Some develop the applications that allow people to do specific tasks on a computer or another device. Others develop the underlying systems that run the devices or that control networks. Software developers oversee the entire development process for a software program, including testing and maintenance. They design the program and then give instructions to programmers, who write computer code and test it.
Admittedly, I prefer doing the back-end job of a programmer. I don’t really love leading a team in a somewhat creativity-based project. However, the idea of initiating and facilitating the coming-to-life process of a computer program seems incredibly fulfilling. If ever I do become a software developer, I would probably create a computer program that will be of use to hospitals and schools. In fact, my mother encourages me to consider developing an enrollment system someday. No pressure.
     [3]   DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
Tumblr media
My third option is to become a database administrator.
According to Learn How to Become and Wikipedia, database administrators are responsible for establishing databases for organizations in all sectors of the economy in accordance with their specific needs in order to ensure that data is readily accessible for efficient and effective use by anyone with permission to use it. They use specialized software to store and organize data. Their role may include capacity planning, installation, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.
A database administrator’s job appeals to my perfectionism. The idea of being in-charge of keeping everything organized is a huge but ultimately fulfilling challenge.
     [4]   CYBER SECURITY CONSULTANT
Tumblr media
Another career I have in mind is to be a cyber security consultant.
Top Universities emphasizes that maintaining cyber security in the modern world has become increasingly important, so a cyber security consultant’s role focuses on understanding the risks to the security of information or data. I would have to analyze where security breaches may occur or have occurred, and restore or reinforce systems against such breaches, to ensure that confidential data is protected. This role could include ‘ethical hacking’, meaning deliberately attempting to hack into my employer’s network to expose any weaknesses. Alternatively, I could work as a computer forensics analyst or investigator to combat the increasing phenomenon of cyber-crime.
I can attribute my attractions towards this career to the movies I’ve watched that portray hacking (or anything of the sort) to be cool. In several action movies, I always felt excited when seeing characters getting out of a tight, life-and-death situation with their cyber security-related skills. Although now I know that there’s more to this job than hacking—which they only do for testing reasons, otherwise it would be a crime—it still appeals to that part of my self that craves for thrill. In hindsight, the chances of coming across serious cyber security situations (like a government cyber security breach) here in the Philippines is quite low compared to other countries, so I guess my thrill-seeking self won’t be too satisfied if I work locally.
     [5]   GAME DEVELOPER
Tumblr media
My last and fifth career choice is to become a game developer.
According to Top Universities, game developers produce games for personal computers, games consoles, social/online games, arcade games, tablets, mobile phones, and other handheld devices. This role splits into two main parts. First, there’s the creative side of designing a game and dealing with the art, animation, and storyboarding. Second, there’s the programming side, using programming languages such as C++.
I fit into the second part of developing game—the programming part. Although I’d rather invest on computer programs that are of use to the community, helping create a game seems like a fun way to apply coding. In hindsight, games are not just limited to the “fun” aspect because they offer more benefits than entertainment, so I guess I’m still helping the community in a way. I play games myself, especially the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game called League of Legends. I understand and have experienced that one can learn, acquire, and hone skills (like strategy planning, enhanced reflexes, analysis) from playing games, especially complex ones. Furthermore, one can create and maintain friendships with games, as well as improve their self-confidence.
OVERALL...
Computer programmer, software developer, database administrator, cyber security consultant, game developer… whatever my career will be, I hope I’ll love what I’ll do and contribute something to the betterment of the community.
I also hope to prove some family members wrong about IT-related jobs being insignificant, that graduates under this program just “end up in computer shops.” While managing and maintaining a computer shop is a noble job, there’s so much more to the professions under I.T. that are constantly being overlooked and taken for granted. We are literally living in the digital age, yet many people still don’t appreciate this field enough. Hopefully, I’ll be able to enlighten and inspire people to try this career path and be a part of the tech savvy community.
Wish me luck in my journey!

people who ask for tech help and then don’t even let you finish your explanation/troubleshooting before they start interrupting and ragequitting are... Extremely Frustrating.
i get that tech trouble is a very unique flavor of Infuriating and sometimes it makes you want to throw your hands up and say “fuck it,” (i have Been There), but don’t get mad at ME when you asked for help in the first place, and don’t stop me mid-troubleshoot just because i didn’t automatically solve your problem in .05 seconds, and don’t tune me out or wave me off as soon as i try to teach you a thing.
a lot of basic how-to questions i can answer quickly; a lot of things i can figure out on my own if i have a chance to click around for a few minutes; and i’m pretty good at googling and finding solutions if i don’t know the solution off the top of my head, and i can eventually solve the problem on my own with a bit of time. if i’m totally clueless i’ll recommend they contact tech support, but most things people ask are pretty basic and easy enough to puzzle out if you’re tech savvy.
and i understand not being tech savvy, especially if you didn’t grow up on a computer like i did. i have patience for people who don’t know things. people often start with “this is probably a stupid question” but honestly? computers can be intimidating and inscrutable for people who don’t have a lot of familiarity or practice with them. i’m lucky that it’s a skill that now comes a bit naturally to me just by virtue of having access to computers from a young age and therefore having a lot of practice.
BUT when i start to lose my patience is when ppl decide i’m not worth listening to (bc of my age or gender usually), or take their frustration out on ME, or (the most frustrating) ask for help in one breath and then turn around and bash my entire generation for being stupid and lazy and useless and (the most amusing) addicted to tech as soon as their tech problem is solved and they can write me off again.
“i demand you fix my computer! ...btw your generation sucks because you understand computers :) i see no hypocrisy in using you for the skills that i am simultaneously bashing you for”

2, 4, 6, 8 & 12 for two of ya choice!
going with tanith (because she’s plotting and i’m in her brain quite a bit) and valko (because i miss him and am having fun playing with the lightbringer and the shadowmaker version of him (which is pretty much the same as dnd!valko but still…ilov him))
2. how is their social media presence?
tanith: she was probably more active before [relevant backstory reasons] since…she was a regular young teenager…but after [relevant backstory reasons] she abandoned those. she probably has accounts on various outlets (twitter/reddit/facebook/etc) so she can keep tabs on things but most of those accounts are either private or empty. she probably does have a facebook that is a “professional” facebook for her magician practice but it’s vague and there aren’t any pictures that show her face
novel!valko: pretty much nonexistent. he’d only really use the internet to google shit, watch youtube, find recipes, and check the news. he would have been more active when he was younger and probably had a twitter but it’s either deactivated or just dead.
4. what do they ( plan to ) do for a living, and where do they aspire to go with it?
tanith: perform and get rich. mostly through stage magic. but she’s also more than willing to supplement that with some other stuff. she tries to keep most things above the table, but sometimes her skills are better suited towards under the table stuff.
novel!valko: he kind of just figures he’ll keep moving from odd job to odd job until he dies (probably sooner than later). he doesn’t really have any aspirations or think about the possibility of a future (not until he meets oliver anyways).
6. how technologically savvy are they? for example, do they know the parts of a computer, do they have a smartwatch, do they know what a browser is?
tanith: i mean she’d have been born in 1998 so…she’s pretty tech savvy. she probably wouldn’t be able to build a computer on a whim, but she knows the basics of how to troubleshoot issues and she for sure knows what a browser is. she wouldn’t have a smartwatch. she probably has a smartphone but she keeps it turned off most of the time, has a plan under a different name, and mostly uses burner phones.
novel!valko: he’d be a millennial and would have had “computer classes” when he attended public school, so he can do the basics for sure and type without looking at the keyboard. he can’t code or program or anything. if hitting it doesn’t work or if turning it off and back on again doesn’t work then he’s at a loss and will ask grisha to fix it. he got into a habit of using burner flip phones for so long. he probably has a smartphone now, but he doesn’t like it and always has the gps/location tracker off.
8. describe their closet.
tanith: her casual attire is usually tight pants, heeled boots, tank tops, and a leather jacket. she’s got her magician outfit which is, again, tight pants and heeled boots, but a button up shirt, tie, and coat with long coat tails.
novel!valko: pretty much everything he has he found in a thrift shop. old ratty sweaters and flannels, torn up jeans. he probably owns a pair of solid boots that have lasted him years and he’d have a leather jacket hanging in the back of his closet from Before the Incident that he hasn’t touched since then but he hangs onto it for sentimental reasons.
12. name a few of their favourite pieces of popular culture.
god i don’t consume enough pop culture anymore to be able to answer this well
tanith: not to be like she’d love mcu loki but....she’d love mcu loki
novel!valko: oh he’d love pokemon…honestly i think he’d just like anything that’s lowkey and just...pleasant...nothing bad happens. it’s just relaxing and feels good
