I love how ominous such basic names like "The Organization" or "The Institute" or "The Initiative" or "The Facility" or etc. are when placed in like a shady sci-fi context, like there's no reason for them to sound that suspicious, but without elaboration, it's like here is a place where they are doing things™ and I am like ooohh, because the blank state, the refusal to give you any more detail makes you think they're hiding something on purpose and leaves the darkest corner of the imagination left to fill in the rest.

what gets me about qifrey is from the beginning I was so charmed by how adoring and nurturing he is of the girls, and his emerging shady behavior was worrying but I still clung to that because EVERY time there was a crisis, he was right there to throw himself in front of his girls and protect them no matter what

so in volume 7 we get both Qifrey’s old mentor and his best friend seeing his shady behavior and doubting him and whether he really cares about his students. I doubted too!! but how does the story resolve these questions??

firmly on the side of Qifrey loves them more than anything and will do whatever he can to protect them! Beldaruit remarks to Olruggio in the end that he was wrong to doubt his dedication to them, and instead should’ve been concerned over his self-destructive tendencies. Olruggio has a quest with Hiehart and Jujy who make him realize when a friend (COUGH qifrey) has two important goals they can’t choose between, instead of having to choose one they should get help to handle both of them! and directly after that he goes to Qifrey and tells him point blank I want to help you, let me help you.

One of Qifrey’s most defining traits to me is that he is a good teacher above all and he protects kids (see: his protectiveness of tartah next volume insisting on walking him home and that worrying over tartah is ‘a part of the package’ with him), and I love him so dearly for that <3

#I’m really pleased that the narrative fell this way with Qifrey #like sure fine if he put his goals over the kids it’d be whatever feel kinda seen it before but instead!! #it goes no WAY bro he adores his students and is even Doing all of that shady stuff because HE WANTS TO KEEP BEING THIS HAPPY W THEM!!! #qifrey still has major issues tho mostly regarding his aforementioned self destructive tendencies and independence #let people!! help you!!! i will say, and maybe this is just because i’ve been harassed so much in the past for this in particular, that i am getting rather tired of seeing people discuss asgore being a child murderer and acting like it’s a moral competition or something. i’m tired because while it is apart of his character, it is literally so much more than him and his writing, and most of us literally just want to draw or write him in peace without worrying whether or not we’ll be harassed for “woobifying” a child murderer

Getting sick as an adult and having the terrifying realization that when I would get multiple sinus infections a year from my "allergies" and my mom told me I would die if I didn't take my medicine even though I only felt mildly ill...

yeah turns out what she meant by that was not "sinus infections are very deadly" but was in fact "I will not take you to the hospital if this gets so bad that it starts to kill you and I cannot afford a dead kid on my hands"

#like not to shame people who suffer from sinus infections. like sure they suck. but under normal circumstances they should not be killing u #and neither should allergies to pollen for that matter #it was also a problem because i was pretty severely underdeveloped (still am) and my throat was genuinely so small i couldnt #swallow the pills without very bad pain and fear of choking. especially since i was unable to breathe through my nose #like taking any amount of time to swallow something when your nose is completely congested feels bad #i also couldnt handle the liquid form of dayquil that i wad given because i knew it made my siblings gag and i had awful emetophobia #anyway yeah just thinking back on the neglect as an adult really puts things into perspective #i can think of at least 10 times off the top of my head that she would have let me die without batting an eye #and idk how i survived honestly. i guess i was just fortunate because theres no way i saved myself in those scenarios #actually there was one time my sister took me to the ER (against my moms will even though she had health insurance 🙃) #but that was when my sister was an adult #i mean that same sister also did allow other shady stuff though without batting an eye so idk how grateful i should be #like she was perfectly fine with the fact that our house had no heat and i just occasionally (every day) could not be woken up #idk what kinda double standards she had going on there but yeah #i lived! yay...? #yea yay

so- im 1/4 polish (2/4 irish and 1/4 english if youre curious about the rest) so i know a little bit of polish the language right im not like. fluent or anything but i know at least 2 words

and 2 of my coworkers are polish right (theyre married i think) and occasionally ill overhear some of their conversations but ill only understand like. 2 words so i have to try and piece together the rest of the context and its my favourite lunch break game

I do this too but for the random Japanese and Korean people that I encounter in a store or at the airport(I’m not from Japan or Korea, n it’s rare to see these folks around in my country)… like I know quite a few words so I try to piece together what they’re saying XD

Once we were having breakfast at a hotel, and there was a Korean family seated near us. I could tell who was whose mom (they were three couples and their respective children) and which child was annoying which other child and what they were saying to each other. It was so cute!
