Some very American (and asshole) things about Graves
┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊
summary: Phillip Graves is 1. an asshole and 2. very American so here's some headcanons about him.
pairing: Phillip Graves x himself (fucking narcissist)
warnings: SWEARING
a/n: lol I have a love hate relationship with Graves so this was fun to write (like I wanna kiss him but also punch him in his stupid pretty face)
┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊ ⋆ ┊ . ┊ ┊┊
He was on the Homecoming and Prom Court in high school and he ATE THAT SHIT UP
He also was voted “Most Handsome” in his yearbook
Joined the Army purely because of the glory he saw in Top Gun (he picked a different branch because he couldn’t handle the Navy training)
Was pissed when he saw Glen Powell in Top Gun: Maverick
For weeks his Shadows heard him complain that they based the character off of him
Loves pickle back shots (whiskey followed immediately with pickle juice)—something Price finds revolting
One time, made his Shadows get him Chik-Fil-A because he was craving it abroad
Speaking of which, he’s such a pussy when trying new foods—any spice will immediately put this man on the toliet
Always smothers his food in ranch dressing
Cool ranch Doritos? RANCH. Pizza? EXTRA RANCH. Mac and cheese? RANCH MIXED IN!
“Happy Independence day, you colonizing fuckers!” he exclaims whenever he works with soldiers over the seas (and it just happens to be the 4th of July)
If he’s at home, just know he’ll be chilling in an American flag tank top from Walmart and drinking a Natty Light
Plus he’ll be launching fireworks all night long so hide your dogs
His home? You might ask. Well, picture a mansion tucked away in either Texas or Wyoming with that Western Cowboy aesthetic
Even though he’s very Mr. Americana, he secretly buys French perfumes and Italian suits (but will always stand by a “Made in America” tag)
Just looks like he has a good face routine but DOES NOT moisturize his body (if he does it’s because he’s getting laid and is ashy)
He heats up hot water in the microwave and uses one of those Lipton tea bags Ghost almost shoots him
Definitely competed in one of those “All you can eat hot dog” contests
Also proudly shows off his award winning “Wet T-Shirt contest” photos
“Sweet Home Alabama” can never be played for the 141, they get war flashbacks of Grave’s playing it prior to the Dark Water mission
Confident that he could’ve played a better Ken than Chris Evan’s in the new Barbie movie
Got one of those terrible barbed wire tattoos when he was fresh out of bootcamp to look cool to his new army brothers
Also just know if he wasn’t in the Army, he’d be going to the University of South Carolina and be in one of their top frats
But while in the Army, he used the fact that he would be deployed oversees to bring women (and his Tinder dates) in
Reusable bags? HAHA never for Graves, he doesn’t get why he has to bring one in or buy one for ¢15
Will either buy the stupid bag or carry everything in his arms like an idiot
I also just KNOW this man doesn’t recycle
When he goes to New England, he makes a big fuss on how they can’t make sweet tea
Finally, he just RADIATES Ford F-150 or a Jeep with no doors energy

He bro, I remember seeing an ask calling it weird for you being into VB's life, and honestly I thought it was so dumb because this is one for the most normal adult things Ive ever seen. Look at Bob Marley, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis, there are people young to old who collect merch to this day & make shrines in their living rooms that guests love & praise them for. Youre not a weirdo, you're a fan, no different from everyone who watches celebrity news & cry over what the Stars are doing today.
If it’s the ask from last night then I think that anon just took offence at my wording about wishing someone who had dated Victor would show up online and not that I research him in general. lol
Honestly I thought about this topic this afternoon and how biographers are just in general nosy people who dig around in famous people’s private business. The same as I do. I guess what makes me appear so extreme is that I have to research everything about him myself. I’m a huge Marilyn fan too and even though I have also done research about her it was basically just digging for the good stuff because there’s sooooo much content about her out there. With Victor I have to fight for every new info and photo. If not I would have known barely anything about him and would have nothing to post since a year. I mean, the fact that me liking him as an actor turned pretty soon into me having a crush on him as a person certainly did help with how passionate I got about this hobby (and lets not forget my friend hyperfixation that lets me scroll through newspaper archives for three days straight without sleeping or eating).
So idk, I’m in the weird position where fan and biographer overlap, so I don’t feel too weird for trying to dig deeper into his private life. If I don’t do it it will all fall into obscurity, probably already has since so many people passed. (His best teenage friend, actor McMurty, died only last month). Also this blog is my only place where I can share my findings and my frustrations, about for example never finding anything about his love life, so I don’t feel too bad about indulging. I mean everyone can blacklist these posts or just unfollow. And there’s a good chance I will never meet anyone of you so who cares if I’m cringy.

Let’s talk: RUN Episode 155
by Admin 1
The time has come after more than 150 episodes of RUN for another break, a comma as they called it in the episode itself. We’ve had two of those so far, and the members repeatedly underlined that it is just a break, and yet, somehow, it feels more like an end this time. At least for a while. And really, I get it. It’s been six years and a busy time is coming for the members, as in the online concert on the 24th and the four offline concerts in LA at the end of November, early December, as well as, for us, In the SOOP Season 2 which will begin airing every Friday starting this week. Oh, and then award season and the end of the year. It was their choice to take a break from RUN and I totally respect that. The good thing is we have a lot of old episodes to rewatch in the meantime since those won’t magically disappear.
As a namjinist and vminnie this episode was quite the feast, and in general it was simply hilarious so I definitely recommend everyone to watch it (I won’t spoil everything in this post). I can imagine myself coming back to this episode every once in a while for an instant serotonin boost. Especially since the episode is nearly 57 minutes long! A few years ago an episode of such length was unimaginable.
The previous episode left us on a dramatic cliffhanger posing the question of just how wide Seokjin’s shoulders really are and if Jimin was right with his guess of 48 centimeters. Very important matter, you see.
Tumblr media
As they continue on with the quiz the fact that Tae seemingly “forgot” his own name and just called Jimin’s instead just got me, especially because he did it twice, one of those times even ending up with the new version of vmin--JiV.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lots and lots more below the cut:
(We were so close to a vmin hug. So close yet so far away, lol.) For context the question was about what Tae had said to Seokjin in an older episode which Jimin got right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing about these types of quizzes about old episodes, or generally ones where they have to remember things from years ago, is the fact that they really do remember even the most trivial details, ones they can only know if they actually watched the finished and edited episodes themselves (like what was edited in after JK was drinking a bottle of cola as a way to protect the artist). Which we know they do since they’ve mentioned it a couple of times, and we’ve seen Hobi rewatch one during their Staycation episodes. As someone with really bad memory at the best of times, I’m always amazed by it, and so was Yoongi since he also commented on it.
Q. What do 155 episodes and 7 years of RUN mean to you?
Hobi - It was a show where I, as j-hope, where I could show myself outside of my main job as a singer, with different kinds of energy and with my bright smile. It was a very important memory. It made me laugh so much, and it was like a happy virus to me. As shooting a variety show isn’t my main job, there were some difficult parts being on the show, but in the end, to me, it was “happiness”. It was a virus, but a happy virus. It gave me good energy, good laughs, and so much happiness. That’s what I’d say.
Jimin - It was great that we could share something with ARMY. I’m so thankful. Had it not been for ARMY, there would’ve been no reason for the show to exist. In a way, this show was much like the bond that you and I have. It’s grown more and more meaningful. Other than to say I’m thankful, I have no other way to describe how I feel.
After the quiz we also had the Photo Zone which, as expected, was truly the moment of the episode. Just like Namjoon, at some point my stomach hurt from laughing so much and so hard. For this they had the same teams as they did back during episode 33, meaning Tae and Jimin, Hobi with JK, Namjoon on his own, and the eternal roommates Yoongi and Seokjin, in this case also known as Hello due to their iconic picture which merely had Yoongi’s hands in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Safe to say Seokjin and Yoongi did not get better at this game, like, at all, but it was truly hilarious and I appreciate their effort!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Throughout the entire game they were all laughing and having so much fun, and the maknaes, especially Tae and Jimin, kept on taking pictures of the funny faces and poses everyone was making so they could keep them. So cute!
Also love whatever is going on here, vmin hands (and they themselves) being magnets it seems.
Tumblr media
And lastly the iconic, truly legendary, group picture:
Tumblr media
Q. What is RUN BTS to me?
Taehyung - It’s not a show, but rather is something that allowed new experiences with the members and made us new memories that we wouldn't have had otherwise. That’s the best thing about RUN BTS. RUN BTS is a show that allows me to feel safe and relaxed.
Jungkook - To me, it is a show through which I learned so much. We got to try things out and got to do so many fun things. My time on RUN BTS was something between fun, relaxing and work. My time on the show was very special.
Next up we had a debate about the fascinating question about whether or not it’s one butt or two. It’s the same debate the TXT members had on Weverse some time ago under someone’s post, which ARMY also saw and thought was hilarious. Some tried to get the members to notice the question, but it didn’t happen until it finally did on this episode. And, as expected, it was amazing.
Besides their arguments simply being the peak of comedy, we also had two moments of Jimin and Yoongi performing CPR on Tae who, after being splashed with water from one of the water g*ns held by the production staff (each of the members has two forbidden words), acted as though he’d been fatally wounded. Adorable and reminiscent of that moment from the tennis episode where Jimin carried Tae off the tennis court.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q. How do you feel about RUN BTS taking a break?
Yoongi - I don’t think this is the end. A comma, or to take a break is not ending something, but rather, literally means to rest. That means we’ll be back soon, so don’t get too sad, everyone. I hope this will be a time where we can just take a relaxing break.
Seokjin - This is the communication channel that’s given us the chance to make ARMY laugh the most. When we first began the show, it was 5 to 7 minutes long, and was a short pilot show, but now, it’s become a show where we’re responsible for 30 to 40 minutes. As we feel a sense of pressure too, I thought it’s be nice to take a break. I participate in every shoot in hopes that it would make many people laugh. And I’ll continue to hope so as we shoot more, so I hope that when you watch RUN BTS, you will always laugh.
Next came an intermission of sorts where the members got to eat to their hearts content after playing a few mini games, Tae absolutely slaying at rock-paper-scissors, Namjoon at the four syllables game, as well as Jimin and Seokjin being amazing at stealing all our hearts with their aegyo.
Can we take a moment and talk about this namjin though? They look like they are ready to judge the shit out of everyone (though really they were simply waiting to see what aegyo Jimin will do) and I live for it, but also they look so good together (and they are standing in their signature way, namjinists know what I mean I’m sure).
Tumblr media
Not at Tae just laughing extra hard at Jimin’s cute aegyo, a moment in which he represents all of us, let’s be honest.
Tumblr media
At one point JK noticed that one of the PDs is standing barefoot, so he goes inside to get a pair of slippers and gives them to the PD. He’s truly so perceptive, kind and thoughtful, and I’m really happy and thankful for the fact that they’ve built such a good relationship with the RUN staff over the years. And the fact that the staff is just endlessly weak for the Tannies, which, like, same.
Toward the end Hobi points out how Namjoon is eating so happily and Seokjin comments how he feels full just by watching Namjoon eat. Cute.
Q. BTS and RUN BTS.
Namjoon - Thanks to RUN BTS, I fear variety shows much less and feel less pressure to be funny. Appearing on variety shows was a huge fear for me. It’s always been like that, and I’m still a little scared, but having to show off tricks, making people laugh, and giving good reactions all came to me as a lot of pressure. But RUN BTS was something that make up for all of that. Debuting as K-Pop singer, and appearing on variety shows consumes a huge part, but RUN BTS fulfilled that variety show pillar for us. I think a break is much needed, and I hope we’ll get to talk and laugh together in the future too. A show filled with lighthearted happiness. I hope it remains a show that feels good like a nice run. That way, we could come back, and people would welcome our return.
As final part of the episode the members were supposed to write a poem with Dallyeora Bangtan shwim (RUN BTS break). This moment showed their different approaches to assignments like that, some being more on the funny side, like Seokjin’s, others more serious, like JKs and Tae, and others somewhere in between. Or like Namjoon who simply wrote two. (we also had a moment that looked a bit like Namjoon was checking out appreciating Seokjin’s handsomeness, which honestly, very relatable).
After all the members read out their poems the staff showed them a video they’d made summarizing the years of RUN and then gave the members photobooks as memories of the show so far. To fill in the final page they took another group picture (not at Namjoon switching arm positions so he could put his hand on Seokjin’s waist).
Tumblr media
Then, after a round of final words from the members, and a cake, the episode comes to a close and with it RUN goes into its break. I’ll definitely miss having a new episode to look forward to every Tuesday, but I’m glad the members get to take a break just like they wanted, and I’m looking forward to whenever RUN will return in the future. Like I said in the beginning, lots of new things are coming and the old episodes won’t disappear so we shouldn’t be too sad.
Thank you to Bangtan for 155 episodes of this amazing show, all of them for free, filled with new experiences and laughter, and thank you to the RUN crew for giving the Tannies a safe space to just have fun and be themselves and make new memories together.

Five and Pop Culture
Let’s be honest, he wouldn’t get it at all
“I want to die, haha.”
“Why?”
“Oh, not really- it’s a joke.”
“Oh. Well it isn’t very funny.”
Or him trying to use slang, but in a ‘god honoring’ way (he just means grammatically correct)
“Wow, Five, you actually used that meme correctly.”
“Well I’m awake.”
“You mean woke?”
“Yeah, but saying you’re woke isn’t grammatically correct.”
Discovering stupid challenges
“What’s the Tide Pod Challenge, Y/n?”
“Five, no!”
Making him watch vine compilations until it becomes the only form of communication
He bought a guitar after you started dating JUST so that he could say “I love you, bitch. I ain’t gonna never stop loving you. Bitch.”
He comes up with new vine ideas, then posts them on Tik Tok like it isn’t cringy
He makes memes on your phone because he can’t be bothered to use the space on his phone
You may or may not have introduced Five to the concept of strange greetings
*Five steps into a room where he was asked to attend a family meeting* Sup, heteros?
Vanya and Klaus haven’t forgiven him for that
He also will enter a room, say a random ShowerThought, then leave
Once he teleported to your room and woke you up just to ask what the opposite of J was
Once he gave Klaus a pixie stix and filmed him snorting it, then laughed before he tried it too and went into a coughing fit
Not good at art, but draws his own memes anyway from photos he’s taken of you without your permission
You’ve gone viral three times
He got you a set of the polaroids for an instax camera, then made you spend $150 on the actual camera
You have a cat together and Grace hates it because it absolutely hates her
You only got the cat for meme lols
He would TOTALLY binge adult cartoons at night, then kid’s in the morning, then binge the entirety of Gravity Falls and point out how ‘that’s actually not how time travel works but okay’ or ‘why does Dipper like Wendy, he’s like 13 she’s 15’
Oh my god, don’t even get me started on slang
Seriously, don’t
He sprinkles several different time period slang together just to annoy you
“Oh, radical.”
“That’s lit.”
“Stop this lollygagging.”
Accidentally mixing common phrases together
Once he said ‘that’s a tough nut to swallow’ and couldn’t understand why you were laughing so hard
Concurrently being an old man and a teenager isn’t enough; he’s also five sometimes?
One time he did your makeup and he was surprisingly good
“How did you get so good?”
“Apparently it’s a tube made out of me.”
“Oh, YouTube. Okay. James Charles?”
“Who? Nah some channel with like, three subscribers.”
Hooooo boy you have thoroughly changed him
He swore all the time and just progressively stopped, choosing to replace it with milder words
He dropped your phone one time and instinctively said ‘Crap’ in front of his family
They thought something was wrong
“Oh, shoot, darn, frick! Young Sheck West and I’m getting really rich, cha-ching, see how I rock it cus’ I’m really with the shit- stuff.”
He discovered cosplay and now??? He only wants to be Todoroki and Bakugou, and like Yuri on Ice characters???
He didn’t understand the concept of reading ‘just because’ so when he asked if he could borrow a book and you handed him Divergent, he asked where that happened and you had to explain that no, it’s a fiction novel, it’s for fun

Survey #223
“broken and sad, as the tarnish on your crown, nowhere to go but down.”
What’s your favorite chocolate in the valentine box? The one with fudge in the center. What color hair did your first crush have? Brown. What’s a condition you have that you haven’t been officially diagnosed with? Do not ever self-diagnose, ever. There's a quote about this that I love: Something along the lines of, "Your five-minute Google search doesn't compare to my doctoral degree." Something like that. Anyway, everything I have has been professionally diagnosed, though my therapist and psychiatrist both know I question if my bipolarity is actually borderline personality disorder. My psychiatrist doesn't see it, and my therapist says my level of self-awareness makes that highly unlikely. Idk though, a loooot of symptoms remind me of myself. What’s your favorite version of the Bible? None. Do you think pineapple belongs on pizza? Noooo. I hate sweet/savory combos. Which one of your parents do you think is smarter? My mom. My dad is smart in his own way, but if you're talking about textbook knowledge, yeah. My mom is smarter in that area. Which parent do you think you inherited your intelligence level from? I 120% got my total lack of common sense from Dad. Otherwise, Mom. Do you store your bike in a garage for the winter? I don't have a garage nor bike. What were your favorite gym class activities in elementary school? Okay, do y'all remember those rainbow tarps you'd form a big dome out of? I loved that shit. Even though all we did was talk once inside, lol. I also loved those square roller things. You know, the ones that put your fingers at great risk. Would you rather wear a tunic top and jeggings or a crop top and high-waisted jeans? Okay so I'd fucking love to wear high-waisted jeans w/ a crop top if I had the body for it. Do you think hoodies look better oversized and long, or cropped? Oversized ones are the best. Have you ever had a professional make-over? No. Have you ever had a professional photo shoot? No. Did you ever want to be a model? Noooo. What’s your anti-depressant? Vraylar + Lamictal lmaooooo. Do you stretch or do yoga? Not anymore. List all of the colors of dresses you have worn to school dances. I only ever went to prom. My first was maroon, the second black. Did you enjoy school dances? Here's the tea: they're overhyped, at least for my personality. It's loud as hell so you can't hear each other talk, and the music's shit. I only went to his senior prom and mine for the novelty of it. What is something you want to be for Halloween? I am very legitimately considering be a handmaid from The Handmaid's Tale this year. Read that fucking book, it's one of the best I've ever read, and fucking terrifying as a woman. Who is your favorite parent? I love both for who they are. Do you have chronic pain? Only in my legs due to muscle atrophy that I'm recovering from now thanks to school. What is your favorite part of going to the dentist? My teeth feeling especially clean afterwards. Have you ever not been able to see the big E at the eye doctor? Ha ha, yes. My vision is godawful. What’s on your wish list right now? Just donate to my tattoo fund, lmao. What are you behind on? Politics. What did you get rid of that you wish you had kept? I wish I'd kept Jason and mine's last prom pictures, but literally just because now, I think I looked gorgeous. Does your hometown have bad memories attached to it? The Bloods gang seriously tried to break into the house while my sister and her friend were home alone as pre-teens, guess. Does it irritate you when someone has a dream but does nothing to work toward it? I mean, yes? I feel like everyone should care about that to some degree. Certainly not to an obsessive degree, it's not your life, but you should care that people work towards their aspirations. Do you find the concept of colorblindness fascinating? Yeah, sure. Which site have you been bullied on the most? I wouldn't say I was ever really bullied, but I guess the closest was on an old RP site from one particular person. Who do you wish loved you? A few people. Not necessarily romantically. Do you know anyone who has twin babies or toddlers? Yes. I actually think she has two pairs. If so, what are their names? Idr. I only know them loosely through dance. Would you ever want to have twins? FUCK no. Who has the cutest babies on your Facebook newsfeed? My acquaintance Anastasia literally has the prettiest daughter ever. If you could have a car in any color you wanted, which color? Pink, duh. Or maroon. What is your favorite Avril Lavigne song? WHY'D YOU HAVE TO GO AND MAKE THINGS SO COMPLICATED What’s a song lyric that you like? Korn came out with a new album, and my favorite song's lyrics include "God is making fun of me," and it's my favorite thing ever. Would you ever hitchhike? Why or why not? NOOOOOOO, I don't trust people. What’s one thing you’ve done to celebrate Earth Day? As a kid, I made a bird house one year. There was this backyard decorating show on Animal Planet when I was little, and on one episode, they made one out of an empty milk jug and leaves, so I duplicated that. What color is your stapler? Black. Was your middle school crush the same as your high school crush? No. Have you ever been homeschooled? Towards the end of 8th grade, I was homebound. I was deeply depressed, and school didn't help. Have you ever completed a weight loss program? No. What was the last thing you were mad at a doctor about? I will forever and absolutely always despise my old doctor for putting and keeping me on a medication that resulted in me gaining around 150 pounds, and I wish I was fucking kidding, and blaming it on me the entire time. Where you live, is it possible to get sunburned&frostbitten in same week? HA, yeah. Do you ever turn your phone off because you don’t want to talk? No, I'll just ignore it. Do you like McDonald’s sweet tea? I hate sweet tea period. Do you like rap? Very little of it. Usually just some Eminem. Do you ever lay down and look at the stars? I haven't done that in a long time. Well, we weren't lying down, but rather sitting in chairs, but when Sara was here last summer, she, Mom, and I all sat outside one night making s'mores and having some drinks, and we looked up at the stars for quite a while. Don’t you hate when songs remind you of the person you’re trying to forget? There are a couple songs I physically can't listen to due to PTSD. Whose bed were you last in besides your own? Uhhh. I think my niece's, though I was just sitting on it. Who’s the last person you kissed? Sara. What’s your relationship with that person? We're really fucking gay for each other. Do you know how many people you’ve kissed? Three or four. I can't remember if I ever actually initiated a kiss with Girt or ever kissed him back, but I don't think so. Do you burn easily in the sun? Like toast on the whitest bread. Have you ever blacked out? I mean, I've fainted. Who do you hang out with the most? My mom lmao. Are you positive or negative? So in my FYS class (that is literally more like therapy), we very recently took an emotional intelligence test (it's like a scale that tells you your strengths and weaknesses in some major areas), and my optimism score was ABYSMALLY low. Like, as low as it could be. I've always called myself a realist, but this was a very detailed and professional test, so I'm taking my results into consideration. Do you believe life is fair? Ha ha, what a way to prove the last answer, but you couldn't possibly make me believe life is fair. It's chance and cause and effect. Have you ever bought a youtuber’s merch? LMAO YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA'LL I'm too embarrassed to ask for "unusual" things. Do you have any embarrassing health issues? One or two. I am a Walking Health Issue. What are you longing for? I want Sara to live here so badly. Distance is getting hard. Who was your first roommate? Jason, Amanda, and Jacob. Who lived across the hall from you your first year of college? I never lived in a dorm. Have you ever had a janitorial job? Omfg no. I'm a germaphobe. Have you ever worked in food service? Hell no. I can't deal with hungry people. What is your favorite flavor of frosting? I'm a chocolate bitch. What is your favorite type of donut? Depends on where it's from. Dunkin' Donuts, omlllll gimme a chocolate frosted (never with sprinkles, sprinkles are gross). Krispy Kreme, BITCH I will kill a glazed. What is the name of your favorite bakery? We don't go to any proper bakery. We just get stuff from the ones at grocery stores. What is your current favorite Starbucks drink? I don't go to Starbucks. When was the last time you wrote someone a letter? For a certain holiday for Sara. I think it was Valentine's Day? Do you write mostly in cursive or in print? It's some hybrid font of both, but mostly cursive. What do you usually get for your birthday? Meerkat-related stuff. What is a childhood dream that hasn’t stuck with you? I wanted to be a vet. Who was your first favorite cartoon character? Uhhh. Probably Ash Ketchum (I FUCKING WROTE "KETCHUP") or Pikachu. Who is your favorite Disney princess? It was Ariel as a kid, now I don't particularly care, but probably Snow White. Do you like Coca Cola? Hell yeah. Do you like McDonald’s french fries? Are you even human if you don't? Did you get your hair color from your mom, your dad, or a grandparent? My hair was dirty blonde as a kid, so I don't have a clue where that came from. It turned brown though, so I guess Mom, but hers is way darker than mine. What are some other names your parents’ considered when naming you? The only one I remember is Kathryn. Who was the last person you know who had a baby? Uhhh I think it was one of my high school friends. …And what was the baby’s name? Jaspen. If you had a boy and a girl, what would they be named? Alessandra is NOT up for debate (if I wanted kids, anyway) lol, and Damien. What color is your dresser? Brown. Have you found your first gray/white hair yet? WOW no that would be mighty depressing. Is your hair long or short? Short. …and which way do you like it best? I CANNOT believe I didn't go short earlier. Do you have a problem with needles? Nah. Have you ever had to use an epi pen? No, thankfully. Have you ever ridden in an ambulance? Also thankfully no. If applicable, what color are your glasses? Black. Do you like the name Addison? Yeah, it's cute. Have you ever made your own Halloween costume out of clothes from your closet? No. At least, not a *real* costume. I've just dressed particularly dark before. Have you ever gotten sick in the car? No. Do you enjoy editing photos? I do. Have you ever called the wrong number? Yep, oops. Do you usually pick Truth or Dare? Truth. I never pick "dare," actually. Do you like kissing? I mean yeah, if I love the person. Which Internet browser do you use? Chrome. When was the last time you read a whole book, to the last page exactly? A couple weeks ago I finished The Handmaid's Tale for school. How many times have you had sex within the past two years? Guesstimate? A big 'ole zero lmao. Has your boyfriend or girlfriend ever cheated on you? Were you mad or sad? No. Are you a superstitious person? Have you ever been superstitious before? No. When was the last time your area had a tornado warning, if ever? A few months ago. Have you ever had one of those major fights with your current bf/gf? When we were younger and unstable friends. Do you think road kill is gross? I think it's sad more than anything, but I mean yeah, it can be. But considering a personal project of mine is photographing roadkill to depict the brutality and sadness of it, it obviously doesn't gross me out all that much. Is it obvious when people hurt your feelings? I think so. How many teeth do you have? The normal amount. Have you ever lived outside of America? No. Do you get allowance? I'm 23, I obviously don't now, but I never have. Do you pop your pimples? Yeah, oops. Who did you last dance with? Sara. Have you ever wanted to kill someone? I think so. I wasn't going to like, actively pursue that, but I wanted her dead. Have you ever had braces? Yep. When you get married, do you want to keep your last name? No, please take it away. Do you shave your pubic hair? No. I'll obvious trim/shave along my upper legs in I'm going to wear a bathing suit or something, though. Have you ever seen a tornado in real life? Thank fucking god no. Do you have to plug your nose while swimming under water? Yep. I have zero clue how people stop water from going up their nose, even if they don't breathe through it. Do you like soft or hard pillows? s o f t What’s the last thing your parents bought you? Mom bought food, Dad bought me my laptopl. Do you know anyone who committed suicide? I'm 99% sure a pre-teen online friend did. I know some people loosely. When was the last time you cried out in pain? That's probably a TMI from having IBS. What do you say when you answer the phone? "Hello?" Do you ever get the feeling you don't belong? Belong where? I need specifics. Are you a timid person? Incredibly. Ever been in love with two people at the same time? No. Ever vomited because you were in shock? No. Do you think the world is a nice place or a horrible place? It's a hybrid of those. Ever had a rumor spread about you? The only one I knew of was one Jason's ex started in high school, that being that we had a baby. Despite the fact I was obviously never pregnant. If you found out you were pregnant how would you react? I'd be fucking terrified and incredibly confused because that's physically impossible. Have you ever been dumped by text? Did it hurt? More like over Facebook Messenger, and fuck yes it hurt considering I was literally madly in love with him and we'd been in a serious relationship for three and a half years. In your opinion what would be the worst possible way to dump someone? See above. (: How do you take out your anger? 99% of the time, cry. Have you ever snuck out of your house? No. Have you ever kissed someone of the same sex? Yeah. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done on a dare? Idk. I never did crazy dares. Have you ever cussed someone out? Yes. What’s the most trouble you’ve ever gotten in with your parents? Idk. My dad never really punished us, but rather Mom. I would say the time I texted her back "fuck you," but I was an adult by this point so she couldn't really do anything, but I do noooot want to imagine how she would've reacted if we were physically together. When she picked me up, she was furious, but I think she was more shocked I actually said that than anything. I don't remember that night much, surprisingly, considering I tend to remember awful days like that. Have you ever cheated on someone? No. Have you ever had a friend-with-benefits? No. Have you ever spread a nasty rumor about someone? No. Have you ever broken someone’s heart? I don't know. Have you ever been physically abused? Thank God, luck, Heaven, or whatever, no. What’s something you really regret saying to someone? I think more than anything, the time I sent something along the lines of "thanks for sending me to the hospital again" to Jason before I went to the ER for the bajillionth time. Doesn't matter if it was the first, fifth, or thousandth time, that was fucking evil and could've seriously hurt him. Is there something really bad that you’ve done, that only YOU know about? Uhhhh I don't think so, at least. Do you have a lot of secrets? It depends on who is involved. Mostly though, no. Does it take a lot to make you feel guilty? I don't know, actually. Have you ever broken a really important promise? I don't think so. Have you ever gone out with a best friend’s ex? More like mutually flirted with her boyfriend behind her back until he left her for me when I was 12. Fucking disgusting. Have you ever made out with someone who was just a friend? No. Have you ever cheated on a test? I actually don't think I ever have. Have you ever told someone’s deep, dark secret? No. I'm honestly very trustworthy with secrets. Have you ever gotten in a fist fight? No. Have you ever done something bad JUST because you knew you shouldn’t? Maybe as a kid? I don't think so? Have you ever purposely hurt yourself? Yeah. Have you ever pushed someone into a pool? I don't think so? Have you ever copied someone else’s homework? Again I don't believe so. Possibly once, idr. Have you ever kissed someone the same day you met them? No. What’s under your bed? A box of art stuff. Have you ever you shoplifted? No. What do you want more than anything else? Happiness. Have you ever tried coconut water? I have not. How many online accounts do you have? Or have you lost count? Holy fuck, there's no telling. Who was your first love? Jason. Are you the type to hold grudges? Definitely not. What was the last video game you played? I actually have World of Warcraft open right now, but that's a computer game; does that count? If not, uhhh. It's been a long while... I think maybe The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. What’s your favorite flavor of vitamin water? Never tried vitamin water. Are there any bands/artists that get you all emotional? Ozzy Osbourne makes me so nostalgic. His music is so important to me. Have you ever been to a convention? (comic, Youtube, etc.) No, but bitch try to stop me from going to PAX East one day to hug God and cry for two hours in joy. What brand are most of the electronics in your household? I don't think we have a consistent brand for our electronics. It depends on what the thing is. What’s your favorite aunt or uncle’s first name? I can't remember my favorite aunt's name, but the only uncle I know well is Rob. He's hilarious. Have you ever smoked a cigarette? No. Who was the last person you invited into your home? Sara. Are you of legal drinking age in the country you live in? Yes. How old were your parents when they got engaged? I have no clue. Early 30s? Are your parents still together? Hell no. What flavor was the last ice cream you ate? Chocolate. Are you health conscious? To a degree. Have you ever done a first aid course? No. If so, would you be prepared to perform CPR if necessary? N/A Are there any songs that get stuck in your head very easily? A lot. Who was the last person to text you? Sara. If you found out you couldn’t have children, would you adopt? I'd be fucking ecstatic if I found out I was infertile, especially with how terrified and paranoid I am about being raped. I don't want kids, ever. Would you go back to your most recent ex? No; I don't like him like that. Do you remember the show Bananas in Pajamas? I don't, but I know my older sister was obsessed. If you could know how, when, and where you’ll die, would you want to know? Hell no. Are you really excited for anything? I'm probably going up to Sara's for her birthday and Christmas and I CANNOT wait. Have you ever eaten any type of insect? Not intentionally? I think a gnat or something flew into my throat once, but idk. I've certainly never tried to. Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met? Nobody lmao. Do you have trust issues? Oh yes indeed.

okay. so. today was pretty fun. I had set my alarm for 10:30 as we’d agreed Jess would pick me up at 11. Well, I woke up to said alarm at 10:30 to a series of messages from Jess telling me to get up already because she wanted nuggets before we went to the con. I told her I’d be ready in 15 minutes, because I was being good and woke up half an hour beforehand when I knew it only really took me 15 minutes to get ready when I’m not doing my make up (doing it in the car here). So I got ready, doing Peter Pan today because I gotta take advantage of my short haired red headed cosplay options because I hate wigs and will be wearing them both Saturday and Sunday. Got picked up, went to Mcdonalds, drove to con, didn’t get stuck in ridiculous traffic like we did yesterday, so that’s a win. I’m trying to remember the details of how everything went down, when you’re there all day and you’re doing different things within a small space it can be hard to remember exactly what you did when. But I think we got there and went to find some people and talked with them for a while, then found Jess’ two friends (”friends”) who were running around doing different things, after waiting for them for a little bit. And I mean, for most of the day we just did different versions of walking around and finding people and looking at things? we’d hang out with a certain group of people for a while and then they’d go off and do a photo shoot or something and we’d migrate to a different group of people. At some point during the afternoon we decided to go through the whole show floor aisle by aisle to assess options before buying anything. I knew I wanted to get a t-shirt of some sort, and sadly there were very few legends-related items out there (I think the only places we really saw them were in the sections where you have the IDs from different shows) so I figured I’d either want something Wonder Woman or Superman related, since those are my other two faves. I was also potentially looking for a cool backpack that’s somewhat bigger than the one I have now because in two weekends we’re doing HVFF New Jersey/Rose City CC in Portland over two days and are just bringing backpacks, and since I decided tonight that I am going to cosplay both days (and the NJ one I am SO excited about!!) I’m gonna need something that can fit a lot of things. What’s annoying about the t-shirt thing is pretty much all of them at cons are only in unisex sizing, not women’s sizes, and I don’t really like how they fit me so I don’t end up wearing them as much as I do the Wonder Woman or Superman shirts I have in woman’s sizes. The other thing I might potentially buy is an Elektra from Daredevil funko pop because back when I was still looking for Katniss but was getting convinced I wouldn’t be able to find her (before I found her online) I was considering making Elektra my next one, and she would fit nicely on my stack of funkos in their boxes (that are literally in a stack on my dresser right now that consists of dark haired women who totally kick ass because apparently I am predictable like that (right now it’s Wonder Woman, Jessica Jones, and Katniss) (I do have three other funkos that are out of their boxes and placed elsewhere, which are my White Canary and Captain Cold, placed in conjunction of course, and Smallville Green Arrow played by Justin Hartley love of my life and the only actor to portray Green Arrow in live action as far as I’m concerned). So we set off to do that. A number of good Wonder Woman options I took note of, a few ones that are old comics styled, a few featuring other Justice League members like Superman and such (though I’m really not a Wonder Woman/Superman shipper like, at all, so not those because Clois is the only valid ship for Clark Kent, though I am open to WonderBat possibilities). There is also a very cool Wonder Woman backpack we were looking for that I’ll probably go back and get because it had a lot of places to put stuff and looked like it could fit everything nicely, it was just 60 bucks so I wanted to make sure it was definitely the best one before actually buying it. The Elektra pop has shown up a few places, cheapest so far for $10, so I’ll keep looking at those since there are of course a ton of places with pops. We kept getting stopped by random men that wanted to talk to us because Jess was being a fucking furry (she got asked to take a picture with two people in full on fur suits and I was dying laughing while also taking a picture of it). By the time it was like 5:30 or so we were pretty much done with everything, so we ended up meeting up with some people and heading to one of the restaurants over by the parking garage, because if you eat at one of the restaurants there they’ll validate your parking so you don’t have to fork over like $15 just for parking. So we ended up going to the German restaurant, which is always a bit of an adventure lol. The first time my family went to DisneyWorld when I was like 12 our restaurant reservations got messed up for one of the days and the only other place we could get in was the German restaurant in Epcot, and all I remember is there menu being like, essentially like three different types of hot dogs, so whenever I think of German food now that’s what I think of, and how I somehow managed to not barf it all up when my brothers and I ran (literally) from Epcot over to Animal Kingdom to get to our fast pass for Expedition Everest, which we made with like 4 minutes left on it and then went on the crazy roller coaster where I was sure I was gonna puke it all up (our restaurant reservation was for like, 4:40, and the fast pass was between 6 and 7, so we thought we’d be fine, but the restaurant got super backed up and didn’t seat us till like 6:15, so we basically ate like half a meal and then ran from the middle of the Epcot circle of nations through the rest of the park, onto the tram and then all the way through Animal Kingdom to Expedition Everest, making it at 6:56). But we got some super cute pictures of my darling baby sister who was 3 at the time and like at peak cuteness dancing to the polka in the German restaurant so that was definitely worth it. ANYWAY. this restaurant seemed somewhat similar in that there was a polka band and everything but thankfully had a larger menu selection. Jess and I ended up splitting some potato pancakes (sorry Germans, they weren’t as good as latkes) and a jumbo pretzel because she doesn’t eat red meat and I’ve been getting Meat Fatigue™ (which we’re still pretending is a real thing okay). We had an interesting conversation going on around us as the guy sitting next to me was trying to say it was bs that people were making excuses for James Gunn in that situation when strongly condemning Trump for making obscene comments, except he was not explaining it well at all and it was totally being lost in translation for everybody else until I was like okay, this is what you mean and explained it and he was like “yes, exactly! I like her” to which I was like 😂😂😂 understanding what people are saying pretty much all the time and explaining things happen to be two random talents of mine that come in handy a lot. So the meal was pretty good, one of the ladies we were with graciously picked up the tab so we were very thankful to her for that. At that point we were pretty beat so we walked back to the parking garage (after getting our parking validated) and drove home. I got dropped off and we planned to pick me up at 10 am tomorrow. I fumbled in the dark with my keys for a few minutes because somehow all the outdoor lights and the lights in the hallway of my building have gone out and not been replaced (yes I could’ve turned my flashlight on on my phone but I was being stubborn and wanted to do it myself) but eventually got it figured out. NICKZANO was very happy to see me, though I told her she’s gonna have to get used to being alone more once I get a job (at some point, anyway). I think I may actually be allergic to cats though, because my legs where I’d been letting her sit on are like hella itchy, but it’s obviously not a major issue at all and I’ll just like, put pants or longer shorts on from now on and that won't be a problem. I showered and changed into my pajamas, then watched a few episodes of 30 Rock, keeping it nice and light. I’m in their 5th season now out of 7 (which is kinda funny because I’m also on the 5th season out of 7 on GoT right now) so sooner or later I’m gonna have to find something else for funny filler episodes when I just want funny tv. And yeah, I did that for a while and then finished getting ready for bed and here we be now. So yeah, lots of fun, hopefully tomorrow will as well, I will be debuting my Ava Sharpe cosplay (who I was never really planning to cosplay but ended up needing to do so for our photo op with Matt Ryan which is gonna be fucking hilarious, just wait) and seeing Matt Ryan so that will be fun. I’ll probably wait till Sunday when I’m doing my also new (and pulled together exclusively of stuff I already owned because business wear) Lois Lane cosplay to see Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum. I was considering doing a photo op with them, but their joint one was $150 which is a tad excessive, and like, Tom alone was still $90 and I wouldn't even know what to do in a single one with him because I’d rather like, have one with both of them so Tom and I could look like we were fighting Michael, but also Michael has hair now so he doesn't even really look like Lex Luthor anymore, so given all of those factors I decided meeting them and getting selfies with them in my cosplay would be good enough. Okay, that’s all I got, it’s 1 am and I’m waking up at 9:30 and I like sleeping so I’m going to go to bed now. Goodnight peeps. Have a lovely weekend.

Day 28: June 23, 2017
Oh my gosh y'all! The end of our trip is coming so quick! It seemed like it took forever to get to Monday, but now it's Friday and it's full steam ahead! I still can't believe tomorrow is our last day in Australia!!
Before I begin recalling my day, I have been thinking. After spending nine days in Melbourne and about 7 in Sydney, I do believe in my heart that I enjoy Melbourne much more. Both of the cities are great, but yet so different. Before coming to Australia I only knew of Sydney and Bondi Beach. I didn't even have a clue what or where Melbourne was. The proximity of everything, the street art, the culture, the free tram system, everything about Melbourne I loved. There was also so much to do there both in the city and the suburbs. To me it seems like Melbourne was much less touristy and wasn't as massive a Sydney. With the harbor dividing the city into halves, it expands for miles it seems. Also in Sydney there really isn't much to do besides the Bridge Climb and the Sydney Opera House. I really do appreciate being able to see both cities though. A lot of trips only focus on one area/landscape, but on this trip I have been able to see just about every part of the country. It has been amazing.
Anywho, back to my day. This morning we had the Walking Tour of Sydney's Public Art, but thankfully Dr. Miller made it optional. We really have been hitting the ground running since the day we touch down in Sydney. Between classes, essays, homework, and group activities we really haven't had that much time. I really appreciated this because we were able to sleep in again.
Since we slept in until about 11, we headed to Circular Quay for lunch. I really do wonder why we didn't stay over there because we are literally over there everyday. Thank the Lord for Opal cards, they have truly been my best friend! For lunch we ate at this Italian place right off the harbor called East Bank. It was really good and we also ran into Dr. Miller, Dr. Dove, and Saorise. Once again, we grabbed some gelato from Gelatissimo. They have some bomb flavors. I tried this one called Macadamia and Sea Salt Carmel. It was hella sweet, but very good. Nya would have loved it! I ended up having vanilla and sea salt caramel, not my usual but amazing as well.
After gelato we headed to the Museum of Sydney. This museum, which was also guided, was very interesting and symbolic. Every pedestal and stone had a meaning. Where the museum stood was where Arthur Phillip, the first governor of Sydney staked his land and built himself a house. Over the years by the surrounding tiles, you could see how the home expanded as newer governors rolled in. Even though he stood for colonization, I do have to say that he had a great view of the harbor from his front door lol. The most interesting entity of this museum was the articles that reflected the 29 Aboriginal tribes of the harbor region. Before entering the museum, there was a wooden and metal column structure to symbolize the intertwining of the two cultures and how the Aboriginal way of life would never be the same again. Carved  into the wooden beams were words and the names of the clans, and there was also a recording playing as well. The steel beams represented the colonizers and how this was the one entity that the Aboriginal people did not possess.
I love how there were two pieces of artwork featured in the museum from Dr. Miller's pre-departure bootcamp.  I can't remember the artists right now, but the painting with the blue landscape is my favorite. Though both pieces are moving, that one in particular strikes a chord. After being in the bush surrounded by him trees and being up close and personal with the gums of Sydney, I could only imagine how it would feel to see full blown sails from peering behind one of the trees. Both in sheer curiosity and fear, I wouldn't know what to think honestly. I also wouldn't think that my life would change forever.
After the guided tour we were free to roam as we'd like. The museum also offered a "Sand In The City" so you know all of us rushed over there as soon as possible. It was like we were all kids again, playing in the moon-sand and building Lego masterpieces. I spent a little time playing with Saorise, she has quite the imagination. While I was playing with her some of my peers constructed "Sydney ASU" with a red pitchfork on the Lego wall. It was iconic! Of course we all took pictures with it. Needless to say, ASU always leaves their mark no matter where we go lol. I also made a drawing that said Bondi Beach for the wall their to be on display.  Oh the joys of childhood lol.
After the museum, me and Ash found out that we could climb the pylons of the Sydney Harbor Bridge for $15 rather than the $150 it takes to the climb the whole thing. So you know what we did? We headed for the bridge (after we got directions of course)! So then we headed to Circular Quay.
LORD HAVE MERCY! It was so many stairs!! Not only did we have to climb 3 sets of stairs to get to the bridge but we also had to climb about 200 stairs to get to the top of the pylon! Your girl was WORN DOWN! Lol, but y'all it was so worth it! We made it just in time for the sunset! And we took some fabulous pictures! I mean, you can never have enough photos of the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House in your phone right? We even met some girls from Chicago who had been in Australia for 6 months studying in a local university. They said the expectations were so much higher here and that grading was even more of an adjustment. I couldn't imagine being away that long.
After our photo shoot, we headed back down and snagged something to eat then went back to APX. Since this is our last Friday in Sydney I knew that I definitely wanted to go out, have a good time, and dance. Ashley was luckily on the same page so once we got back we chilled and then we were off to Star Bar. Surprisingly throughout this whole trip Ashley and I have been on the same wavelength so we knew that we didn't want to go far and Star Bar was the right fit for us. We got there a little bit too early, but once our area turned into the dance club it was on and popping! Of course every time we go somewhere to dance we show out & that we did! Even though the dance culture is very obscure here, I had to notice that many people tried to replicate our infamous American dance crazes. Oh what a sight it was! Lol, needless to say we had a great time!
After Star Bar, Ashley, Morgan, Dakota, Ashley, and I walked back home. We were exhausted!
Then it all sunk in...
Tomorrow is our last day in Australia! Like where has the time gone?? I'm ready to see my mom and family but I'm not ready to go home home. Oh the agony!
But until then... I can't wait for tomorrow! I will be seeing humpback whales in the middle of the ocean and it will be our last/closing night dinner as a family! *tear* (both sad and happy)
Things I've learned - McDonalds sells macaroons - The dance culture is so weird in Australia - Some people don't understand the concept of personal space on the dance floor - English convicts were first sent to America, then the war of Independence changed that and they started prepping to send them to Australia - Sydney exists on a big rock of sandstone - Sandstone is the rock of Sydney - Costumes for one Opera take a year to make - Need to watch "Zach's Ceremony" - NITV is a channel about Aboriginal peoples like BET - Today is the first time I've turned on a tv since being here

Small Town EXO AU
Our town is like the typical small town you would see in a summer love movie. It’s a few hours out of the big capital and there isn’t above 20,000 people living there. There is at least one of everything to keep everyday life running smoothly. There are plenty of restaurants, a small semi-worn down motel on the corner of main street, an auto shop with a small used-car dealership connected to it, and a few gas stations with the nasty outdoor bathrooms you have to ask the cashier for. The closest hospital is twenty miles away and there is only one high school in the county. There’s a farmers market in downtown always fully stocked with every vegetable imaginable and there is a small flower shop right beside it.
Downtown is mostly made up of small shops, or mostly empty plazas that are waiting to be filled and have giant ‘FORE SALE’ signs tapped in to the windows. The biggest diner in town is across the streets from the motel and it is always buzzing with the townsfolk.
The town is pretty close-nit too. No one turns their back on another and everyone is treated equal regardless of your race, family, or gender. Everyone knows everyone like the back of their hand and everyone knows where everyone lives. It’s very rare to see an actual car driving along main street. The streets are normally filled with farm trucks and there is always either an animal or a human sitting in the bed.
There’s a small police and fire station right on the edge of town just to make sure everyone is safe in case of an emergency. Curfew is at 10:30 so there’s not a lot of kids running around through the night, though on Friday nights, the teens of the town are out at a bonfire spot having a good time and roasting marshmallows.
The kids of the town are generally well behaved. Everyone has their own friend groups and it’s rare to see someone walking around school on their own. The lack of the up to-date technology allows the kids to enjoy one another and at least one house in the neighborhood is always filled with teenagers.
There are three elementary schools, two middle schools, and only one high school. The small county and population is to blame for this. The typical class ranges a little over 100 students, or 150 students if they’re lucky. The classroom’s are small and can only fit about twenty-six per class. The classes are kept separate per class, but lunch is when everyone comes together. The gym is filled with the seniors and juniors playing basketball or the under-class men are outside on the football field passing a ball around. The girls are busying gossiping and talking about the latest Instagram trends and the campus is flooded with students and faculty.
Most of the teenagers work in the local shops around town or they’re helping a family member around the house. The community pool keeps the kids busy during the summer and the teenagers would do flips and tricks off the diving board in the deep end. And you can always find the teens in an empty parking lot drinking lemonade or sweet tea just talking about life.
The our town was like it’s own world. There’s not a care in the world and everyone here lives their life in peace and wouldn’t trade a sunny day on the front porch for anything.
So I saw some of the pictures from the “Dear Happiness” EXO photo shoot and the feels for doing a small town AU smacked me so hard in the face! I quickly whipped this up last night while listening to country music(God forbid that would happen on any other occasion) and taking my personal experiences from living in a small town.
I honestly have no idea what the plot is going to be, but I’m so excited to make one up and have all your favs pop up in it! Forgive me for my mistakes because I did a rough edit of this lol. I’ll add more to it later so please bare with me. Thanks for reading and I hope you’re excited!

•Describe your aesthetic.
•What did you do today?
-Hopefully some of these help, but feel free to say whatever you like; you don’t have to pick off this list unless you’d like to.
To begin, we’ll start off:
Hello, my name is Adri and I’m from The United States. I’m currently 16 years old, but my birthday is April 21st so I’ll be 17 soonish. My pronouns are she/her, and I’m aromantic/asexual. I have two cats, Mango and Molly, and I love them so frickin much. I love art and my favorite medium is drawing in pencil because I can’t paint as well as I’d like to, and clay just isn’t for me and idk drawing in colored pencil never works out well when I try. I’ve been taking ukulele lessons for four years now and I love it so much (I should practice more but shush lol). I like the idea of running but my knees are that of a 90 year old and so thats not much of an option. Luckily, I want to go to collage for graphic design and not track and field. My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (not even sure why but whatever lol); I collect different copies, and right now I have 6 different editions. My favorite band is probably Twenty One Pilots, but I can’t pick a favorite song because I listen to so many different genres of music that I can’t pick just one (if any of you cool cats have song recommendations please send ‘em in. I’ll be forever grateful; I love hearing new music). My favorite fictional character is totally Steve Rogers because like I relate to him so hard (lol sans growth spurt tho). My aesthetic is kinda weird because like the fact that I don’t have one is my aesthetic? So like ripped jeans, snapback hats, converse, and sweaters, but also like abandoned buildings, dark nail polish, NASA, documentaries, road trips and diners at 2 am, but also vintage anything, slang that hasn’t been “cool” or used in decades, houses where every room is some atrocious color with furniture that clashes so bad it works, homey smelling candles, old TV’s with the VHS player attached, books everywhere, glitter gel pens, temporary tattoos(real ones once I’m able to), dyed hair(again once I’m able to), and every genre of music I can think of. So yeah thats me, I am so stoked to get to know y'all!
And I’m Tara (people call me Tea though). She/her pronouns please! I’m pan. Also 16. My birthday is July 21. I’m an cancer, INFJ, Hufflepuff, bookworm, and lover of dogs. My favorite books are the Hobbit, the Raven Cycle, and the Mortal Instruments. I love horror movies, and science documentaries (really any kind of documentary but especially science ones). My taste in music changes constantly, but I’m usually down for most stuff. Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Jon Bellion, The Rigs, and Thomston. If you ever have any recommendations for anything (books, movies, tv shows, music, comics, games, random article you found at 2 in the morning, literally whatever), or just need to scream, feel free to shoot me a message. I love hearing about your guys’ interests!! I can’t cook to save my life. I cry when I’m happy, and call people “honey” way too much, and really love my friends. Things that make me happy include: chocolate covered strawberries (strawberry anything is the best), snail mail, puppies (I have one!! She’s an Australian shepherd named Freyja and I love her so much!!!!!), greenhouses, space, whales, forget-me-nots, car rides, when you’re standing in the middle of nowhere and everything around you feels so massive and endless, thunderstorms, hot chocolate, tea cups, plants growing over old buildings, calling Adri a dork (cause she totally is and it’s beautiful), Christmas lights, hedgehogs, comfy beds, the color yellow, Volkswagen bugs, jellyfish, journaling, cute handwritten notes, large collections of really random stuff, coconut pie, pocket watches, antique shops, vintage photos, home libraries/studies, quotes about kindness, watching people dance, and the ocean 💖 I’m so excited to meet you guys!!
Anyways please come on over and introduce yourself!!! We can’t wait to get to know you all
-Adri and Tea

valladolid, mexico | underground sinkholes + ancient mayan ruins
I recently had the amazing opportunity to go to Mexico with my family! I'm splitting the trip into three parts. This first part is about when we got to stay in this adorable small town called Valladolid. :)
youtube
I also did a vlog of the trip which you can find up above or here. If you aren't already subscribed to my YouTube channel it would mean the world to me if you could and also hit the notification bell to get notified every time I post!
We arrived at the airport a bit early so of course selfies had to be taken.
There wasn't an airport where we were staying, so our first stop was in Cancun which is this big tourist town.
After riding the bus into town and checking into our hotel, we needed food! The first place we stopped gave us rubber duck tacos as a little tourist joke and I was not the most amused as you can tell from the photo.
The next morning it was time to leave! We took the two hour bus ride to Valladolid and checked into our absolutely adorable hotel we would be staying in for the next 3 and a half days.
We had half a day left so we decided we should check out our first cenote!
It was absolutely gorgeous. Cenotes are these amazing water filled sinkholes which I'm pretty sure are only found in the Yucatan which is the part of Mexico we were in.
This one had a rope swing which you could use to get into the water which was extremely fun. At first I fell immediately but I got the hang of it eventually haha.
The best thing about Cenote Oxman (aka the one we went to) is that they have a restaurant and pool right by the cenote! You can pay 150 pesos to get in and all of that money goes towards credit for the restaurant! The cenote itself is basically free. You can also pay 80 pesos for just the cenote but I would recommend paying for the food. It was quite! They also have a couple of drinks like Horchata which is what I have here in the picture.
After the Cenote we just walked around and explored the town a bit! They have both a cathedral and a convent which are both gorgeous especially at night.
Our hotel had this super cool map filling up one of the walls in one of the common spaces which I thought was cute.
The next day we got to go to Ek Balam which is this amazing ancient Mayan ruin.
Over researching for the trip and actually on the trip itself, I learned so much about the Mayan culture. It's amazing. They built these amazing structures and had there own language at a time when that wasn't super common. Plus every day they are finding more and more structures in the jungle.
Ek Balam they didn't even find till the late 1900's and they only finished exhibiting it in 2004. The only reason they stopped is because they ran out of money. There is still more.
We climbed to the top of the biggest structure!
The view was crazy amazing.
We decided to go Ek Balam instead of Chitzan Itza because you get to climb everything and it's so much less touristy. We were the second family there (you have to go early immediately when it opens) and there were only like 5 families by the time we left.
After climbing and walking all morning it was time for some lunch. We went to this cute Tamale place and got both Tamales and some juices as you can see in this adorable pic of me and my sister. :)
Did I mention our hotel had a pool and hammock? Yeah it was great. It's called Case Hipil by the way. :)
They had these work out things near all of the playgrounds and so me and my dad decided we had to try it at least once.
Then it was photo shoot time!
The town has so many cute colors and buildings so I got a lot of cute pics. If you want to see more I would recommend following my Instagram. :)
As a little snack before dinner, we went to this cute place and got a couple of dips and drinks. They were very good.
At night we watched this cool show about the time which was projected onto the convent. It was incredibly well done. You'll have to look it up for yourself but I'm pretty sure it started at 9.
The next morning I had some tea so I had to take some pics haha. My dads phone has portrait mode and I'm kind of very jealous.
First thing on the agenda for the day was a tour at this amazing house with old Mexican folk art.
The house was gorgeous.
The art was so interesting and unique and our tour guide was extremely nice.
After the tour we went to two more cenotes that were right by each other since we had enjoyed the other one so much.
These ones were more caves and only had one small opening at the top letting in light. I think they were prettier than the other one but the other one had food which was cool so I would say overall they're even.
After relaxing for a while in the cenotes we headed back into town to see some dancing.
As we were walking back to our hotel we came across this panateria (bakery in Spanish). We decided to get some bread for the next morning. One of my parents tips for use childrens when we travel is to find bread places like this. Tasty and cheap. :)
I feel like you can clearly tell how uncomfortable Naomi is in this photo and it's great. I swear she loves me she just isn't very keen on being photographed.
There was quite a bit of street art which I of course loved.
Dinnnnerrrrr. I realized most Mexican food is just stuff on bread. My dad loved it but I wasn't sure if that many carbs were good for me lol.
The next morning we went shopping for a bit (I got souvenirs for my friends) and then it was time to leave.
Get excited for part two and three of my trip coming sooooonnnn! While you wait feel free to follow my insta where I've already posted some pics from the trip. :) Also if you didn't already make sure to check out the vlog I filmed!
Have you ever been to mexico? Are you going anywhere this summer? Where is your fave place you've traveled to?

Hollywood is bullshit and everyone in or around it has always known it.
Tumblr media
I have said it for years now. Hollywood is going to crash. Everything is going to change — for the better. True talent will override money and favors. I started saying it in 2012 for some reason, when I could sense the true onset of the rise of truth and how authenticity would eventually be the only rule in society (hence everything “crashing” last year — and yes, it is all for the good, no matter what it looks like!). I would see now-famous actors and actresses during the earlier days of my healing work, super bright lights who would come to me and say “Elaine, why am I not working??” and I would say “because there is not enough truth in Hollywood yet — but YOU WILL”. those bright lights went on to star in current and above-board TV shows and hit Broadway. yes. the ones we all know and love. not run by monsters or pedos. because things have started to change, even just in recent years (mostly due to technology, but we can also take into account the Age of Aquarius! I guess it’s chicken and egg and it is ALL part of this BIGGER equation of the ascension of truth). the performers I worked with and do work with are the kind of lights that could not ever be dimmed by the temptation of money or fake ego-satisfying promises — because these were the people I was vetting out anyhow, on strictly a soul level (knowing nothing about them, not even their name prior to meeting them) and I wasn’t interested in working with soul sell-outs. the toll it would take on me physically and otherwise would have been too great. just as we see with the experiences of many of the unhappy byproducts of today’s Hollywood. no thanks! that is why, even as of now, I have a rule that a public figure does not leave me their full name or real name in a voicemail — I do not want to offend the wrong person, and this way it does not have to be personal at all if I take a pass on someone who would match Hollywood’s underbelly to begin with. you get the point here: the imminent rise of truth has been in my peripheral view for a long time and I apply that morale to my work. anyhow:
as a young child I loved to perform. sports, music and so forth. I would write my own music and sing until I was about 10 and much of my confidence went straight out of the window. that detail is a digression, but I do want to give some personal background before I continue this post. it was in my core to express myself, and it brought me joy. for whatever reason, my ability to carry through with those gifts was cut short and I became a ruminator for many years and kind of let life happen to me. but that desire to express, to convey, and to share energy from an artistic or spiritual perspective is who I always was and always will be. in my teens, I went to a model scouting event with my sister because my parents thought she could be a model. while we were standing in line, the founder of the company came to me and gave me her business card. she told me to come in for a private casting and that basically they would pay me $150 per catwalk or something, during the day at this venue. I think at the time I felt bad and didn’t tell my sister or my mother who were both there, either that or no one gave it any credence. I don’t really remember. but I did decide to go to the casting. I was dating my first real boyfriend at the time, and he brought me to the casting. keep in mind, this was the 90s lol. no phones, no social media, etc. I showed up and waited in a room with these giraffe models who were practicing their catwalks. I felt immediately inadequate and out-of-place. the woman who invited me came over to me to take my measurements. at the time, was built like a JLo, only taller at 5’7″. as the woman put her hands on my hips I could see the excitement in her eyes about being her first curvy model. she told me I would need to lose at least an inch and a half, but that I could walk for her. the company she had and the venue in which I was to be hired were definitely above-board. the woman was nice. but I felt that immediate sense that I would have to adjust or conform. I was already super thin at about 120lbs. I loved my curves. I did not suffer from any body image issue, thank God. I did have other problems though, like zero confidence to go walk and make good money as a teen and probably have that lead to many other things in the big apple. I couldn’t get my head high enough, and I was stiff and rigid as I walked, even though the woman told me she wanted to hire me and she would work with me on my walk. I don’t know if I was just too PTSD at that point to be seen, or if it was the stench of desperation I got from the other girls (which was MAJOR, btw), or if it was the knowing that I would have to change part of me (lose weight) to “fit” somewhere, but I walked away from it. at the time, it was a big thing to walk away from, because it was right up my alley of having some kind of stage presence and sharing some kind of energy and I would at least have had a solid modeling portfolio and good money at the time. it was also spring into summer, so I could have worked 5 days a week. but I didn’t sign, I walked away. and I will never forget feeling like I was walking away from a path that would have taken me straight and fast into Hollywood somehow. I was fine though, I had other things going for me, like my brain.
during college I never once shook the feeling that I was in the wrong place. I was taking business and marketing classes when I wanted nothing to do with them. I felt like an imposter. I began by majoring in psychology, but even that felt forced and I didn’t like the boxes they used to define people. I think it was safe to say that I was there just to prove something to those who expected something from me or to prove to myself that if I ever ended up being “seen” by many that at least I had some solid “real world” experience first. and actually, I was right and it did serve me. I talk about that in other posts. so I weathered the conventional track, conforming like I considered everyone else would be doing too. during my final year in college, another woman scouted me at a karaoke night. she was an agent and wanted me to work with her. she created musical acts or something. I did not have a good voice, but I could carry a note. that’s all that many creators of artists cared about during that time, I think. I met with her and I got that same vibe — that I would be owned, somehow, some way. so I declined.
immediately after college I could not wait to get away from New England and be somewhere warm and free and creative. I moved far away into a scene where it was sunny every day and there was always a music video or film being shot on my block. my very first week there, I met a reputable actor who invited me to drinks with his coworkers. they were major filmmakers. it was basically us and a group of men, and they were shooting this huge hit movie that we all now know. there was an open invitation on the table if I wanted to take some small part, like a non-speaking part and just be a featured dancer or something in a nightclub scene. I never responded or followed up. I never got a creepy vibe from anyone either, but I did just get this sense that if I even dipped my toe in, I would be owned. and let me make this clear, please: it is not hard to get famous. it is not hard to book roles when you are getting offers like I did and will further detail here. but something kept saying to me “no”. still, it also went against what I always saw myself doing though, which was communicating with large numbers of people. I wasn’t sure how to bridge that gap. but I just kind of…followed myself. I didn’t ever want to be known just for the sake of it. I wanted to make a contribution to society or people and animals and so I was doing this thing in my head where the facts didn’t add up to any kind of legitimate contribution I could make by taking some cheap role. even if it was a door to another door that would lead to me being able to make a major contribution. and, I was too young at the time in my own right, to have any kind of legit message of my own to share. I remember leaving the nightclub we were gathered at for drinks and learning how famous these men were and feeling special that I was near them. I was also like a fish out of water that night though — I refused to let anyone on this LA team buy me anything, I watched my drink like a hawk, I wouldn’t even give my home address to the actor I met. my PTSD and high alert responses that I had developed at such an early age perhaps served me well.
a few months later, also still in my new city, I was offered a role in a major music rap video. yes, I know, imagine me in one. but at the time, I was young and super comfortable in my body and thong bikinis running all over the beach, so it didn’t feel so far out-of-place. like young women in their early 20s, I was enjoying my life and learning about people and the cruel world and socializing and also I was tan. I was VERY TAN…ha. I knew also, that I was scouted for my figure, which was unconventional to a caucasian woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. I felt the JLo train that was in its prime during that time and I knew that my look was the “new” and “cool” look (fast forward and think of all the butt implants etc we see). still, I felt that if I took this role (with prominent stars and what I considered at that time to be a lot of money), that somehow again I would be owned. I couldn’t put my finger on it, or what I thought being owned actually was. but my intuition kept speaking. I turned away from that opps and others like it and kept socializing instead while working my little marketing job (you can read more about this era of my life in my first eBooklet in the shop page!). I would also often be amongst many of the music icons of our time, either at dinner or at their table at some nightclub. everyone was always nice, I never had ANY bad experiences, but I also probably missed out on the bad experiences because of who I was at the time — I was someone who could not justify doing xyz unless it MEANT something. what would doing a rap video or a movie MEAN? I mean, really? and so for me, the equation was comprised of a trade-off that would not satisfy me. the kind of trade-offs that all of these women in Hollywood are suddenly talking about. and so, HOW, you tell me, does a young 20-something (me) who has never officially worked in this business at that point but who is around it, smell the trade-off that now everyone is talking about? I’ll tell you how: because that trade-off has ALWAYS BEEN THERE. I wasn’t even in it, and I could smell. it. the fact of the matter is, some of us are willing to sell our soul for the riches and the attention and the “creative fulfillment” and some are just not. I wasn’t. I didn’t even want to be a bystander of that trade-off, let alone a victim.
as my life was completely falling apart and unraveling during this particular time (again that’s another post, eBooklet 1 on my shop page), one would think it would have been completely easy for me to just sell out because I was so weakened emotionally and otherwise. instead, I would rather have been homeless. and, I became homeless. but that’s another story, another post. after losing my marketing job due to unforeseen and untoward experiences with those very close to me, I made friends with this older man whom I had met through a “powerful” nonprofit foundation. he didn’t work with the foundation, but he was friends with the director who I had once worked with. this older man decided that I was the next “it” factor, the next star of our time, and so he wanted to be friends with me and “mentor” me. he was no problem, he never hit on me or made me uncomfortable. mainly, he just used me for rides because he was broke (but no one knew it — repossessed car, fancy home). over the course of the few months I spent time with him (platonic time) he saw many men “in the business” either in front of the camera or behind it, pursue me. this man who thought he was my mentor must have been some kind of God send, because he would coach me on the things to say to the people who wanted to take me on dates. I would write down his words on pieces of paper. one paper said “Hi ___ . I’m not into dating or sleeping with anyone right now.” Yes, I would say this first thing during phone conversations. I was totally coached by this guy, because he worked with Hollywood in years prior and knew the baiting game that came with it. he told me that it was extremely important to be straight up before even any small talk. there was no texting at this time (except for 2-way devices, which I didn’t have) so it was all phone conversations. I had my little piece of paper on the kitchen counter and when I would get on the phone with someone who worked in Hollywood, it was the first thing I would say. due to situations in my past, also, with creepy men, I was totally on high alert before I ever really needed to be. I was lucky, I guess. I was always afraid that I was going to be assaulted or something, so I was extremely careful about who I spent my time with and where.
one night, after reading from my mentor’s script and making plans with a famous Hollywood hot man person, I emptied my bank account (all $100 of it) and packed it into my little wallet before our date. in true awkward fashion, I was destined to not allow him to pay for one thing. I flashed my little wad of cash around at the first place we went for food and he told me I needed to get a money clip. he thought I was rich. this was probably a good thing at that time. and it was so contrary to the truth. the man I was with, I would like to add, was truly the man of the moment. it was his peak of success. so this was a big deal to me and I didn’t know how exactly to handle it, but my mind kept saying “stay safe, do not get hurt, do not be alone with him”. probably he was not a rapist, and probably my mind was overactive, but why? because I was attuned to that which everyone else in or around Hollywood was and is attuned to: that it is run on sex, favors and ego. and mostly sex and sexual advances that people pretend doesn’t happen. I didn’t choose to bury my head in the sand, and so I remained on high alert. I had one of the best nights of my life, and toward the end of it, famous man had to use the loo. for some reason, he wanted to use the loo in his penthouse suite. I remember the elevator ride up with him, in which he pinned me against the elevator wall and kissed me passionately. I remember feeling cool, again because I was with this hot famous man, but also on guard because this meant we would end up alone in his room. I remember this scene so crystally clear now: we got to his suite and he walked ahead of me to the bathroom. I left the door to his suite ajar — completely ajar. odd move, right? I had no reason not to trust him, he had a good reputation and all, but I also had no reason TO trust him. so I left the damn door open and stood next to it. he used the loo — also with that door open so I could hear him peeing. which turned me off. my stance in front of the open door to his hotel room with the door completely ajar could not have been more obvious. I remember feeling only very minor potential danger, because I had recently watched this movie about date rape and I didn’t want to be a statistic or put either one of us in an awkward position. when he finished using the bathroom, I stayed stoic like a fixture in between the door arches with the hall light beaming on me, and that was his signal to approach me and leave the suite. he invited me to the beach the next day.
maybe I’m really lucky, because I have heightened senses. but, I also don’t think that my senses are unique. a lot of people have them and push them away, or push them down into an unconscious space BECAUSE THEY WANT WHAT THEY WANT. it is more important to them to be the A-lister, to make that money, to be revered by the masses. and that is kind of the point of this long-winded post. which is not close to being over yet. and my point is, at what point do we stop selling out as human beings? I hate to sound like I think I am better than others, because I am not and I am just as imperfect as anyone on this planet, but HOW is it that hardly anyone speaks up when they should just because they are trapped by human ego? or perhaps they are so desensitized by Hollywood as young children and they are truly victims of the system. this complete lack of understanding that I have about how humans can be made so disingenuously to themSELVES, is what makes me pray for UFO abduction at night. people have, like, zero moral compass it seems. and they go and they make their films, and they KNOW what happens to their peers or employees. and the women are equally accountable! the ones who fake this heir of “greatness” as role models for millions of young people, yet hide the reality of the underbelly of Hollywood until they “have to” say something, knowing full well all along what I sensed at a young age and turned AWAY from — I did not need an actual rape or threat to KNOW. it was fucking palpable, man! forget about your job, forget about your money, how well do you sleep at night and how peaceful are you during the day? because that is the real measure of success and power. and it is never too late to change, to become authentic and make a difference for those who don’t have perspective yet or for the innocent.
after the hot famous man date, I didn’t go out with him again. I knew that he wanted arm candy. he didn’t understand why I wasn’t modeling and why I was taking a mundane route in life. I didn’t fit his cool Hollywood life and I was ok with it. I know I was a conundrum. to him and others. I then met another man, who worked in Hollywood. this one worked behind the scenes doing marketing for music events. I met him at a music festival and traveled with him to Los Angeles to “make some things happen”. this was still in my early days of having unfortunate comfort with duality, since it was ALL that I knew up until that point, and so it became relevant to me on our “business trip” to LA that he was just trying to make money in any way he could and his company was a sham. the irony, to me though, was that he was friends with a large portion of Hollywood. the people, the parties, the blah blah blah, he was in it. so typical! I decided half way during the trip that there was nothing there with him workwise (duh! and thankfully he never pushed himself on me in any way) and I dipped. I then met another person — another Hollywood person — who was surrounded by women. I felt safe because there were so many women around him! that meant, he MUST be trustworthy! I was sure that I had struck some kind of gold, because I had lost my job in the city I was living in and here was this marketing opportunity. only, it wasn’t. I got to his hotel room in West Hollywood with his bodyguard for a meeting and there were women there. like, half-naked. it was a large two-bedroom in a gated community that seemed totally above-board from the outside. this time, my spidey senses had been down. after all, I was tired, disoriented, and deeply in need of stability in life. I had zero idea that there was anything untoward happening. but as soon as I saw what I saw, my insides turned upside down. this man spoke to me the way one would interview someone at Starbucks. as if there was nothing irregular. the half-naked women were like baristas making coffee. one was in a freaking bathrobe. business as usual. the women were beautiful and I could not understand why they would be there in this situation. I felt badly for them. I felt like they missed out on something that I got lucky with. I never judged them. they felt like true victims to me. they were so young, too. this was my first time in Hollywood and my first experience with something like this. somehow, by the grace of God, I knew exactly how to act. I acted like I was totally in — but I had to leave first and come back was all. I never went back.
I started seeing a pattern. my life sans anything Hollywood or famous people didn’t include the same kind of fear or creep factor. I didn’t need to read from a script or assert myself before entering a conversation or a room. at least not to the same degree. I went back to the city that I was living in, and every day was still like it always was — I was approached weekly for modeling, film and TV opportunities. this is because I was living in the hotspot for such. I was so exhausted from all of my adventures (oh, and being evicted from my home) that I moved back to New England instead and craved a “simple life”. and a simple life I chose. I still did karaoke on Monday nights, fantasizing about being a performer, and went to my boring financial sales job hungover the next morning. my escape was listening to Alice In Chains while driving down the I-95 at 8am on the way to work, smoking a capri cigarette, in deadlock traffic while applying mascara. I wore my coolest T-shirts underneath my cheap and ugly grey suit that I got at Marshalls and wore 3x a week and I felt slightly free. I was a fake financial sales person; a closeted medical intuitive and healer who listened to Carolyn Myss on her headset all day and learned about intuition and chakras. I was an imposter in the “system”. but at least I wasn’t an imposter in my soul, like I felt I would be if I obliged Hollywood.
a few years later, I got knocked over the head, out of finance, and into a space where I felt I didn’t have a choice but to pursue media – on camera. I can’t explain the pull, because of my major fear of being seen, but it was greater than just the joy of sharing energy with other actors. it was more so a calling that said “you paid your dues, you learned your lesson, now go and pursue this path or else”. deep inside, I knew that I needed to do this because it would relate to my message later on in life. so I hit the pavement — with no agent — and did a ton of background work and some plays and photo double work for celebrities. this felt safe, because 1) I was in NYC, not some hippy dippy hokey pokey beach community like I had been prior and 2) I owned myself. I had no agent, and I was my boss. I managed to book enough work to live, and I did some workshops with casting directors who were with shows that were on TV for decades. I worked really fucking hard to make this happen. I was also pretty sure that hitting the pavement didn’t require flirting with anyone for a job and the casting director I stayed in touch with from a workshop was gay, so things were good. I got hired for the rest of one year on a reputable soap that was just enough time to get some experience and make some kind of a mark or professional credits for myself. after the soap ended and moved to LA (and I did not!), offers to sign with agents came in. once again, that feeling came back…”why would I go do xyz, for what reason will I do this project?”. fortunately or not, I signed with no one. I met some really nice agents and casting directors who are above-board to this day, but I also know that they were not ignorant to the underbelly of Hollywood. and while they were nice, I just felt averted to pursuing what felt like it would be so easy to sell out for, on some level, consciously or unconsciously. around this time, I did a brief job on another hit TV show. only because my spidey senses are incredibly high did I hear this verbatim while on the job: I was standing in cue for “action”, and I hear the director say in response to his ADs comment “well you can get anything you want”, motioning at me — “and I probably will”, motioning at me, with a smirk. this was the first time I was on a set and heard something like that, and it was directed at me. I almost wanted to deny what I was hearing. I felt shame, and I quickly shoved that shame way way down. why would this man say this about me? also, he was so…old. grandpa age for me at the time. what would I want with him? after the scene, the director approached me and gave me his cell phone number. instead of feeling shame in that instant, I felt important. he said he might have a part for me on a show (he had many). he said to meet him that night at his hotel in the lobby. I was living with my boyfriend at the time, and I asked my boyfriend (he was a bit of a sell-out himself and just wanted a famous girlfriend) if I should go. of course I should go he said. I landed at this fancy hotel and met the director for drinks. we sat near the big windows and watched the people walk by. we talked about our lives, and the first thing he talked about was which part he would give to me. I think I kept changing the conversation to personal life, for some reason — like, who were his parents, who WAS HE, etc. and somewhere in the middle of the conversation, something…changed. it was like he saw me as a person. then I really felt like I was with my grandpa, not this creepy TV director with decades in the biz. it was like watching someone who had been forgiven for their sins, the expression on his face as we ordered our third set of drinks. it began to retroactively dawn on me that he had invited me there to sleep with me. because we were in a public place, I felt safe. and I also felt like there was more humanity to him than his initial intentions showed. he told me, flat-out, that I surprised him. as a human being. I recall him being absolutely bowled over with the fact that I was not a whore. this made me feel sad. for him, for Hollywood, for many actors and actresses. I was like a little kid finding out Santa was not real. our conversation continued and I really felt like I was with a beloved grandpa. instead of going to his hotel room, we went into the restaurant and had dinner. he was looking at me differently now. I didn’t know what to think. I also knew that any talk of a part on the show was off the table. I got it. I understood why I was invited there and I also understood that something had shifted — for me, but really for this director. I can’t say, to this day, what it was, other than he saw my humanity. and I was ignorant enough to believe that he would never have wanted anything from me except to honor my great talent (lol! that’s a joke) and offer me a role in this hit show. he stopped talking about the thing he promised me he wanted to talk about (my role) and he just became a person. we were both a little drunk at this point, and there was just some surrender around him that to this day I will never forget. he went on and on and on telling me how special and lucky I was, that I was a “real person”. I left the hotel perplexed, somehow joyful, and on my ride home he left me a very long voicemail. I kept it for years. it reiterates his surprise and surrender around the fact that I didn’t play the game, only he used other words for it. it was the most bizarre but interesting and somehow heart-warming voicemail I have ever gotten. I never got any work from this person, and we stayed in touch over email about surface subjects down the road. I never once told him that I heard his comment on set that day and that I hoped that I had just heard wrong. I never told anyone until writing this here, about the experience that day. part of me could not admit to myself where he was headed with me. and because somehow, for some reason, the angels vindicated that situation that day, maybe just once or maybe forever for him and definitely forever protecting me.
I could go on and on (as if I haven’t already) about ALL of the people who told me that xyz person slept with xyz person and EVERYONE knew about it and just turned away. powerful women knew. powerful men knew. just like all the manifestos you are hearing about related to the HW situation as of late. I heard a lot of second, and a few, first hand accounts. to this day, I can not believe some of the stories because they are so shocking. like, these are A-list women who supposedly do xyz for xyz. I guess I’m like an overgrown child or something, but I’m still shocked about the way the world works. but I am equally happy that I am not jaded. and yet, at the same time, the ick factor, the spidey sense I have for sexual advances and favors in advance for roles or whatever is sky-high — for that and also for the abuse of both men AND women that occurs long after roles have been booked and played, and a career is held hostage by a sloppy gluttonous person who seeks to bed every person they hire.
a couple of years after I dropped the acting ball to come further out of the closet with my healing work, I was still trying to make it in production. I worked with some super crappy and desperate people and decided I wasn’t a whole enough person to continue in production. but before I left, I met a big Hollywood producer at a friend’s screening. I was hopeful that maybe someone as great and kind as HE would surely have words of advice and encouragement for me! I took him to Soho House (his membership, not mine) for drinks. I started to talk about how to quantify the equity that I had brought to this one film I was on, and how the Producer wouldn’t give me a contract to clarify what she promised me, and I had all of these important questions, and all he wanted to talk about was how I don’t use my sexuality in meetings and therefore I will never get anything even in production. HUH? I swear to you. he told me that by shutting down my sexuality, it closes doors. he told me it’s “easy” to book a good TV role or get xyz credit. he acted like it was as easy as ordering the drinks we were having. I felt insecure, I didn’t know why I wasn’t sexy, I didn’t know what I was doing wrong, and I really looked up to him and believed him. I had no idea how to change myself though, so I just internalized it and felt stupid. he seemed angry that I wasn’t hitting on him, but I didn’t know that I was supposed to. I paid our huge bill and left and never saw him again. he later said nasty things about me the mutual friend who introduced us. #Hollywood! I later found out that this “man” supposedly turned all Buddhist or spiritual or something and had distanced himself from Hollywood. I mean…whatever. go and re-do your soul no doubt!
I know why I didn’t pursue Hollywood, and I didn’t even have the horrible firsthand experiences that so many women AND men have. so, why wasn’t the current news about HW SUPER mainstream already, years before now? because everyone remotely close to Hollywood or in it DEFINITELY knows and turns the other way. even if they know just in a passing sense. yet, many of them continue to work and say nothing. not all, but many, who are close enough to these situations, have a human responsibility to walk away from that which does not honor them or others. they know unconsciously, all of them. the thing about Hollywood is, if you are conscious and working, you are not sleeping well. or, if you are conscious and working, then you have managed to meet the smallest percentage of people who are true and good and do not abuse their power. that percentage does exist. it is just extremely small (and even in that, there are people who know about the rot they just go nowhere near it or it hasn’t been their place to talk about it). otherwise, you are unconscious for a living. what we have is not an issue of ignorance in our society, but rather an issue of a broken moral compass. why is the human species so fucking weak?
it’s not just Hollywood of course, as it is EXACTLY in the modeling industry — for both genders. can I tell you how many POSs I know who harass young hopeful MEN for “dick pics” in exchange for castings? can I tell you, from firsthand experience, how many young men feel that they have to pretend to be gay to book a job? when I was fresh out of college I was dating a model in another city and he would break down and tell me about how he was raped by photographers and how he felt so guilty because he could not defend himself. he was also not a US Citizen, and he was and felt threatened and didn’t know what to do. this shit happens ALL. THE. TIME. and the agents and casting directors look the other way so they can cash their check and attend their next bullshit party on the red carpet with people who could care less about them. it’s all such a sham — unless it actually isn’t, which does exist, but again it is SO few and far between (and on the rise, thankfully!).
I will avoid detailing first-hand accounts of others abuse here because they are not my accounts and it does not feel right, but what I want with this post is to let young people know that anything fast and bright is a SHAM. promises of money, attention, fame or whatever else will hit you with a price most or all of the time. there are very few people who can navigate the “system” in Hollywood with any sort of integrity. I don’t regret one “opportunity” that I “missed” by either being extra cautious or just saying “no”. I still say no, all of the time, to a LOT of things! maybe I’ve slowed my own track in life, but at least it is an honorable one. if you are an actor or actress and you don’t understand why you can’t book work, please know that the system is crumbling so that it can change and expand. with the crumbling of networks and studios in recent years, there are spaces for individual and powerful distribution to get your message across. and those of you waiting, those of you “not booking”, it’s because you have something to SAY. and you will be heard. I know you will be heard because I SEE with my own eyes people I have worked with make that transition over these last few years alongside their MESSAGE. that’s what I have waited so long for, in terms of putting a solid message out there, whether that includes me being on-screen again along with it or just behind the scenes. I refused to thus far go and spoil my message on some black hole that only perpetuates myths and half-truths. AND I COULD HAVE. and I could, as a consequence, have all of the “things” that our sick society deems “important” or “cool” or “powerful” and it makes me sick to see otherwise educated and intelligent people agreeing with it. because even before I knew it, I knew it: Hollywood is bullshit and everyone in or around it has also always known it and the rot that devours the lights.
