Sobbing over Dax and Sisko. Dax has lived 8 lives, and Benjamin was there for the last three of them in a row. Every time they became best friends. As soon as Ezri gets the symbiote she feels the need to find Benjamin and immediately flies to earth to find him, despite her spacesickness. Ben takes her in immediately and brings her on his road trip because he can. Ben calls her old man like shes still Kurzon. When Jadzia falls in love with her (sorta) ex wife, the only person she can tell is Ben. Ben is the only person who knows her well enough to tell her shes wrong for her. She doesn't listen to him. And she gets her heart broken. They gossip like schoolgirls about geopolitics. They are the definition of platonic soulmates. I cannot do this.

These are highly subjective interpretations but to me Jadzia and Seven are two (opposite?) flavors of gender indifference:

Jadzia: gender depends on what's funnier in the moment/what allows her to commit further to the bit. Always aware on some level that she's putting on a show and she loves it, especially if other people get confused. Not her job to explain! Figure it out yourself!

Seven (Voyager edition): wants OFF this ride, it's already a concession that Seven is using I/my/myself pronouns instead of we/us/ourselves, why is being an individual tied so closely to gender in the first place. She/her is, for the moment, just the least exhausting option when interacting with others among pronouns that all feel alien to her

actually an interesting contradiction in jadzia dax's character is that she's very much one of those characters who you could imagine plopping down in the middle of an alien world and having a whale of a time Looking and Touching and Observing and Whatnot but, with the story that she's in, she's pretty stationary as a character. and a smidge of this contradiction is related to my whining that they didn't give her enough weird sciency-stuff to do in the show, but most of this Thing about her is that it's a bit of an explanation of her character in summary: she is a multiplicity, she is many lived and personed, she is curious and adventurous, but when she commits to something she commits. she plants her feet and says i will.
